5-0 out of 5 stars This is a HOT album
"It Takes A Thief" is Coolio's classic! It's been a while since I last listened to it but I remember thinking it was a masterpiece when I first heard it. The best songs on the album are Ghetto Cartoon, Mama I'm In Love Wit A Gangsta, I Remember and the radio-friendly Fantastic Voyage. This is hardcore Coolio, before he sold out with Gangsta's Paradise, this is how I best like him. His rhymes are always good and on-point. The beats are funky and take you back to the day... Anyway, this is a HOT album I recommend you buy this instead of any other Coolio album, this is definitely his best

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic voyage
fantastic voyage rocks, even though it's now a kinda old song (still one of the best though). the whole cd is old skool, and worth your $. plus, it's coolio's debut, so it's a must-buy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars something to ride to
Coolio starts you on a ride with a remake of Lakeside's "Fantastic Voyage," complete with smooth gangsta lyrics and a catchy chorus. It works wonders on a boomin sound system. Besides that the rest of the tracks, most of them anyways, are worth a listen, specifically U Know Hoo with W.C. and Ghetto Cartoon. But Fantastic Voyage is the best of the album......all I gotta say is "slide, slide, slippity slide......"

1-0 out of 5 stars It takes a thief to listen to this
Fantastic Voyage is the only good song on this excuse for an album. The rest of the songs are not even the least bit interesting. The other songs aren't even worth listening to. Unless you are Coolio's #1 fan, then don't this unless it's used for real cheap. None of the songs seem like "fantastic voyage" and that is what turned me off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than the latest
Even though this album isn't very well known, I think it is much better than his latest album. I don't think "Fantastic Voyage" is all that great, but "Ghetto Cartoon" is terrific! Also, "County Line", and "Smokin Stix" are good. The one favorite track on this album is "It takes a thief", this track is brilliant! All of the other songs are okay, not great. If you thought "Gangstas Paradise" (the song) was good, look into this album. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cop This One!
Great album, this is the first album I bought of Rappin' 4-Tay and I wanna buy more of his but I don't live in the US and people outside the US is slow to get what's bangin.

I bought it becouse I had heard 4-Tay's raps on TUPAC's ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME and thought he sounded excellent and sure enough on this album he did.

All songs but about 2 songs are great, the best ones are: PAID MY DUES, BOOGIE BANG, KEEP THE GAME ON THE SHELF & HOLLA AT A PLAYA...

If u enjoy westcoast rap like CELLI CELL, TUPAC, MC BREED u probably enjoy this a whole lot.

5-0 out of 5 stars -----------------------------------
Commin' out of penetentury Rappin' 4-Tay drops an excellent album. It's one of those albums that you can start listening to without skipping even one track. It's really close to being perfect. As usual Anthony Forte uses the oppurtunity to send some positive messages to his fans, talking about changing our ways and "keep it legit". But that's no it all. The album has it's playa edge with some awsome songs with that Bay Area flava. The producers on this album, all of which aren't big names, did an outstanding job, really! Every single track has just awsome music to it. Add that and Rappin' 4-Tay tight lyrics and delivery and you get an album which is a winner. The album also has really srong guest appearences by Too $hort, MC Breed, Lil' Fly, D-Moe, JT The Bigga Figga, San Quinn, Sef the Gaffla and more... Off Parole is Rappin' 4-Tay's second album. It's just a GREAT album and you'll really enjoy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars uses great music along with his smooth bay area flava
I got this album and love it. Its got great backround music along with 4tays great lyrical flava. he keeps it real. on the album, there are beats you can kick back to, and beats you can party to. Best songs on the album: I paid my dues and wheres the party at. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Da album is hot and Sole has style and a tight voice.
I like it,what can I say ,Da tracks, rhymes, lyrics and her flow is tight I been a fan of such as many Hip Hop artist like Eve, Lil' Kim,Foxy Brown,Missy,Da Brat and everybody, and I like listen to all types of music and just get in to it.Buy that cd of Sole just buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars SOLE' IS ONE OF THE TYTEST RHYME SPITTAZ
WZUP 2 ALL YALL HIP-HOP LUVERS. I WANT TO SAY THAT SOLE IS TYTE. HER AND EVE JUST TORE UP THE END OF 1999. PLUS, CHA-CHA GOT SOME FLOWS LIKE TWISTA YA HEARD ME! SOLE' IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARTIST IN THE FEMALE CATEGORY. ALONG WITH MISSY ELLIOT, LEFT EYE, CHA-CHA, EVE, MOCHA AND OTHERS. I LIKE THE WHOLE SKIN DEEP ALBUM, BUT IY YI YI, WE'VE BEEN TRYING TOO LONG, IT WASN'T ME, AND NEVER THOUGHT I ARE JUST BOO-COO TYTE. THEM BEATS JUST MAKE YA GET BUCKED UP. THIS TYPE OF ARTIST HELPS ME WITH ME LYRICS AND SONGS. I CAN FEEL WHAT SOLE' AND SOME OTHER FEMALE ARTIST ARE SAYING. I WRITE SONGS JUST LIKE THIS... FOR PEOPLE TO FEEL WHAT I'M SAYING. WAY BEFORE I HEARD OF THESE TALENTED ARTIST, I'VE BEEN RAPPING SINCE I WAS 9-YEARS-OLD. LET ME TELL YA SOMETHING ELSE, I DON'T EXACTLY HAVE A DEFINITE STYLE. IT'S JUST A MIXTURE OF WHAT I LISTEN TO FAR AS THE TYTEST ARTIST AROUND THE WORLD. SO IF YOU LIKE WHAT I LIKE, THEN YOU MAY HEAR A LIL BIT OF THESE ARTIST COME OUT OF ME. YALL WILL SEE WHEN IT'S MY TYME TO SHINE. BUT ANYWAY, IF YOU DON'T HAVE SOLE' SKIN DEEP, YOU SHOULD GET IT. I GIVE IT 5 STARZ, AND YOU ARE HEARING THIS FROM AN EXPERIENCED UNKNOWN RAPPER. 1 LUV PEACE OUT.

5-0 out of 5 stars sole is tha bomb
underrated, sole is a good rapper and i really look forward to her second cd. sole is unique she came out hard when she came out in 99. and she set herself different then other female rappers which is cool. her cd is cool as hell once you get into it it will have you bobbing your head and relating to what she is saying. the interlude is funny and the song cool as hell. so hopefully anyone reading this review will give sole a chance.

5-0 out of 5 stars I just didn't know!!!
If had known that this CD would've been so hot, I wouldn't have waited so long to get it. I am shocked that this didn't get more airplay in my area (DC, when I bought it)! The lyrics are great and so are the beats. After listening, you can't deny that Sole is talented, she has a really great voice for delivering dope lyrics. Although I like all the songs on this album, my favorites are #3,5,7,9,10,11...well the list goes on, I can't really pick just one. If you buy this CD and really listen to the lyrics, you'll have the same problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars her flow saved her own album
but tricky setwered was wrong for the beats.she would sound much better with some one like dj uneek,or someone of that caliber.her production is the only thing that slowed this album down.get a better producer sole. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Instrumentals that take your mind beyond "spaced-out"
I won't elaborate on this review like I do all of my other reviews but let me say something about this work of art.

Its the best instrumental album you can get. This should be part of any music collection. Not just hip-hop, but all kinds. If you don't feel this type of production then you just aren't on this level yet, your mind isn't prepared. If you listen to "commercial" hip-hop then don't bother with this here. If you have an open mind for music then you will more than likely find this to be a sweet discovery.

4-0 out of 5 stars Back in the day.......
I remember back in the day...sitting round the coffee table, with a can of Red Stripe, and a packet of Rizla. Good company, lots of laughing... and a soundtrack donated by Dr Octagon.

Instrumentalyst isn't a one on one album. I wouldn't sit down and give it my undivided attention because, quite frankly, it could get a bit boring.

But if you need some beats to freestyle to, if you're happy to chat but need something a bit less depressing than Unkle, something that can remind you of the new dawn of Hip Hop fusion - look no further.

And can I add, the gentlemen who did use these beats as late night backing tracks whilst brooding over their beer - they're well respected artists now.

Who knows where this could lead you to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Keyword: Instrumentalyst
It's mostly the same as 'Dr Octagonecologyst' because it IS the same...without about 98% of the lyrics. Hence the name "instrumentalyst" ....and they can't call him Dr Octagonecologyst because Kool Keith plays the role of the Dr. Anyway though...I assume this album was made for those Automator (Dan) fans who can't handle the psychotic yet amazing stylings of Kool Keith. Either album is great though....Dan the Automator is a Complete Genius. Check out Deltron 3030 if you're into Dan and perhaps Del tha Funkee Homosapian...although an instrumental version of that is available too. All 4 (everything that touches Automators hands) is pure GOLD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Spaceman Cometh
Few albums can claim such auspicious genesis: Dan the Automator, making history with futuristic, mind-bending beats, Q-bert scratching himself raw, and Kool Keith reduced to a vague, meandering warble on the few vocal blips that make it through the otherwise undefineable hiphop landscape presented here. Make no mistake, there is nothing, and there will never be nothing, kids, like Instrumentalyst. Without peer, without premise, without imitation. This album will get into your bloodstream. This album will turn you away from all the fakers, the players, the haters, the bitchez and hoze, all those who don't know a goddamn thing about what hip and hop really is. Forward thinking, yes. A dream inside an octagon box of mirrors is more like it. Treat your ears and imagination to this rich, wonderful and most of all SPOOKY album--it has delighted every cool party i have ever thrown, guaranteed, sparked wild, sacreilgious conversation, been worshipped and bowed to, cried over, danced, jumped, shouted to, all manner of twilight behavior, etc... Gentlemen, you have been only fooled by music until you have heard the Instrumentalyst masters. You think your heroes have balls? Eminem, with all his talent, could never have the foresight or guts put out an album like this. Tribe? Crushed by the Instrumentalyst shadow. Find yourself a dark night, some peace, and let this one steep. In. Your. Mind. Oh, and they did this YEARS ago, in the skool they tore down to build the old skool.

5-0 out of 5 stars They Started This Gangsta Shhh...
N.W.A.'s greatest hits is a must have if you're a fan of gangsta rap. You can see today how many rappers who are inspired by this group. Favorite songs has to be "Gangsta Gangsta", "Straigth Outta Compton", "Express Yourself", "If It Ain't Ruff", "I Ain't Tha 1" and the list goes on. If you're a true rap fan you probarly already got this or "Straigth Outta Compton" , but if you're new to hip-hop this is a great album to get to know Eazy-E (R.I.P.), MC Ren, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and DJ Yella.
All of them had succesful careers after N.W.A. splitted, maybe not Yella but his album is definitely worth checking out, he shows some love to Eazy-E. Ice Cube wrote most of the songs (from Straigth Outta Compton). Dr. Dre is one of hip-hop most important producers rigth now. I've said enough. Just get it, if you don't got it. Gangsta rap at it's best. pure class.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is pure Gangsta!
Before "Dr. Dre", "Eazy-E", and "Ice Cube", there was "N.W.A.". Of course this group included all those guys, and "M.C. Ren" and "D.J. Yella". They were probably more responsible for starting the "gangsta rap" thing, than even that pimp "Ice-T". This collection misses a few tracks, but it does include "Straight Outta Compton", "Express Yourself", "I Ain't The One", and "Gangsta Gangsta". Plus the huge hit "F*** Tha Police", which was pretty controvertial and hardcore when it came out. Overall it's a great sampling of "N.W.A.", and a real sign of the times. It'll go great with your "Public Enemy" and "Run-DMC" albums.

4-0 out of 5 stars GOOD COLLECTION OF N.W.A CLASSICS
IF YOU'D LIKE TO JUST GET ALL OF THE N.W.A SONGS YOU LOVE WITHOUT HAVING TO COLLECT ALL OF THE OLD N.W.A ALBUMS, THIS CD IS FOR YOU. THIS COLLECTION IS ALMOST PERFECT, BUT, LIKE ALMOST EVERY OTHER GREATEST HITS CD, IT'S MISSING A FEW TRACKS. MISSING IN THIS COLLECTION ARE ''8 BALL'', ''DOPEMAN'' AND ''SA PRIZE''. OTHER THAN THAT, THIS IS A GREAT COLLECTION FROM THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS GROUP. IF WE'RE LUCKY, WE MIGHT HEAR A NEW ALBUM FROM N.W.A ONE DAY. THIS VERSION OF THE GREATEST HITS CD HAS THE 2 N.W.A REUNION TRACKS, WHICH ARE ''HELLO'' AND ''CHIN CHECK''.

1-0 out of 5 stars "greatest hits"?hell-nah!!!
for one, there's not many of their hits on it.second, there are tracks with them just talkin bout some retarded sh*t(it ain't even funny!).last, they don't have AT LEAST 4 songs that anyone would see as bein hits on it.

5-0 out of 5 stars OLD SCHOOL RAP AT ITS BEST.
This is a real good nwa compilation because it has many of their classic hits.I dont really listen to hip hop but this was a very original group with alot of good rappers like eazy e and ice cube.It may be missing a couple of songs but its good and worth getting. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Far From One Star...
This album is far from a one star album like some have already given. To me a one-star album is total trash without any good songs, beats, or lyrics. Da Brat is a lyrical tongue twister with swift flows not some wack Lil Kim wannabe like most new female rappers. With that said her first single was underwhelming. The beat is too flat and slow for Da Brat. She needs a menacing track such as 'Who I Am". But that's not to say she can't rock the slower tracks; "Ain't Got Time To Waste", "I Was The One" and "Gotta Thing For You" are some tight tracks. But with the good tracks there are bad tracks. As many have already mentioned, 'Boom' is beyond wack...probably the worst song Da Brat has ever done. Nonetheless she does redeem herself on "Chuuch" and "Got It Poppin". She ends the album perfectly with "Gushy Wushy" (what a stupid name title) which has Da Brat KILLING the track and the beat is straight ridah; vintage Brat.

Like all Da Brat albums this one ends short just under 45 minutes, which to me, is good. No stupid filler skits, and not enough time for her to get on your nerves. Every song is solid, save for the ultra terrible "Boom" and is good to let play straight through. Don't be fooled by Da Brat's first underwhelming single. This album is a banger for da summertime. Pick it up.

3-0 out of 5 stars Solid album from a original artist
First of all this is a pretty good album, i never heard that much about it when it came out but it's really solid. Most songs are good, Da Brat got her own style, she's original. Good beats and samples and good hooks on many songs. There aren't any fillers either, only 11 songs so you won't get tired of her while you listen. There are 2 songs that i really enjoy here. "In Love Wit Chu" (featuring Cherish) a smoth ballad mixed with Da Brat's tough flow. The other one is " I was the one" with Anothony Hamilton. I remember the sample, i've heard it somewhere but can't remember from which song. "Gotta thing for you" is also solid and it includes Mariah Carey, strange enough i never heard much about it. Most others are also enjoyable, with a few exceptions. A solid album that never got the credit it credit have had.

3-0 out of 5 stars ok, at best
is this what hip-hop is coming to?

where is the leading edge talent?

not bad, but there is better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Anutha Brat Fan
As usual the Da Brat hits you with a little originality,a splash of ole school and a dash of A.T.L and Chi-town. The album is a brilliant tribute to the Veteran rappers such as M.C.Lyte, Salt n Pepa, and L.L.Cool J. With lyrics like "When I retire, I'll be worshipped like an old battleship", Brat was obviously feeling like giving thanks to the predecessors. There are hits such as "WHO I AM"(a definite banger),"BOOM" (a salt n pepa re-make),"GOT IT POPPIN'"(Brat Club Banger),"Gushy Wushy"(another hit-in-the making). The CD also has a cee-lo styled number classically named "CHUCH". I was about to sleep on this album myself because it was not the typical Brat CD. The Cd is "LIKE DAT" so "GO COP DAT DISC and DVD!".She has also blessed her fans with an entertaining DVD. I would like to hear a couple of remixes and more videos from these great tracks.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best yet
Ever since I bought Legal Drug Money I have been hooked on Lost Boyz. This CD does it for me. When I first heard this CD was coming out 5 months ago I thought it wouldn't be nearly as good as Love Peace and Nappiness or Legal drug Money, but it definetely stands close. Mr. Cheeks unleashes raw talent in every verse he spits. Although Freaky Tah is gone (R.I.P) He leaves us with something to remember here in FL!. LB for life. peace

5-0 out of 5 stars LB Fam does it again
Going back to 97 when I heard the Lost Boyz for the first time, I knew then, this is the group I will always listen to, and I was right. From 'Get Up' to 'Music Makes me High' and other great tracks off Legal Drug Money, I never ditched the LB fam. When Love,Peace and Napiness was released, I couldn't wait to listen to it, and I wasn't disappointed. Cheeks and Tah always rip it up. Much love to the other LB membas, but I am more into Cheeks tight lyrics and Tah's (R.I.P) constant background shoutouts. After buying LB IV Life, I can only hope for another great cd. LB Fam always gives me my monies worth. 'Ghetto Jiggy' and 'Take a Hike' are just superb and Cheeks rips those tracks up like non-other can. (can't wait for a Take a hike music video because I realy don't dig 'Plug me in' that much) Going back to my review. Anyone who loves GREAT QUALITY Rap/Hip Hop will love this cd as much as I do. Great beats, tight lyrics, and is just so up beat it can be played anywhere.. well, almost anywhere. Great party CD, and is worth the money it is being sold for. Much Love, peace.

this album is not as good as the first one u really miss hearing taah on this album i think this album is nothing exiting it just boring

5-0 out of 5 stars LB lives on
First off love to Tah R.I.P.! Gotta love the LB. Played the last two cds til' they were worn out and this cd isn't any different. This joint is hot. This is the greatest cd for cruising late night in your ride "cheese" "plug me in". Just got back from New York and listening to this cd as I cruised around the city at night sealed this cd as one of my favorite LB productions although to the seasonded Lost Boyz listener Tah's presence is clearly missed LB lives on with a cd that switches up styles from the slower "5a.m." and "Can't hold us down" to the hardcore "New York City War Call" and definitely doesn't dissapoint, another must have for the collection and to all those unfamiliar with the LB fam buy this cd you won't be dissapointed and all of your friends will want to borrow this joint at night to cruise to, Guaranteed. so check it out, and then check out their other cds!!

Yo! I just wanna start off by saying that we miss you! Gdod things ain't the same with out you kid, everytime I look in your son's face, I see you reborn, love you. As far as the album, I think it was hot and would've been hotter if that would've been here to finish it. Cheeks held it down and Lou and Spiggs did what they could but it was missing one key element. On all the song that was on he blazed with his vocals. That joint will be one of my favs not only cause son was my fam but because he let you understand that he was enjoying himself. LB FAM!!!!!!!!!! FOR LIFE 134@ GUY BREW ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars VERY SLEPT ON!
Even the reviewers for this album weren't able to appreciate this album to its fullest. The gold single, "Kiss You Back", was a great song and it once again showcased their stylish jocularity in front of understated funky rhythms. But this album has a couple of diamonds in the ruff that have gone largely unnoticed. First, "Good Thing We're Rappin'" rivals Too Short for creator of one of the most Pimpinest (yes its a word) hip hop songs in the 90s. It helps that 2Pac, one of the best ever, introduces the song. It chronicles the days and times in the life of a west coast pimp, with the taste for the material, the disdain for disrespectful, and the "I don't love them hos...", and the wonderful humor attitude that Snoop Dogg adorned on Doggystyle, all while maintaining their essentially light hearted flavor.

But the best song on this album, which barely receives mention is "Sons of the P". In my book, this song ranks as one of the funkiest hip hop songs ever...that's right, EVER. I think it deserves this status for several reasons. One, they were able to do so much in this song without it sounding overdone, overproduced, maintaining the funk, which is at its core. Two, the beats AND the lyrics were funky, in the P-Funk, free-your-mind-and-your-(butt)-will-follow sense. Here's a sample, "we're pulling down the pants to your mind/this time/we'll make love to you're intellect/the people in control are working very hard to keep your natural desires in check". Three, the song is in the funk anthem tradition, spanning 9 minutes, plus they make you feel like the song should not have ended a second sooner. Fourth, they were the perfect group to pull this off, with their funk base, comical approach, and their willingness to sacrifice album sales and commerical appeal for creativity and substance. This is truly an ode to the gods of funk. Clinton even hands the reigns of the funk over to them...the seal of approval. PLEASE GIVE THIS SONG A LISTEN! see for yourself. They are truly the "Sons of the P".

5-0 out of 5 stars tales of the funky
oh yeah digital underground are funky and has some tight p funk influenced beats george clinton himself sings on sons of the P matter of fact the whole cd is dedicated to the p funk the jam tales of the funky proves it where shorty b on the mic giving props to the whole parliament-funkadelic crew. ...

...no nose job, sons of the p, kiss you back? yeah, yeah...they tight...but on the real: IT'S A GOOD THING THAT WE'RE RAPPIN!!...ooh, sh!t!! thats that lick fasho!

5-0 out of 5 stars The stellar followup to "Sex Packets"
After turning rap on it's ear with the iconoclastic "Sex Packets", Shock G. returned to the studio with the Parliament/Funkadelic homage "Sons Of The P". Make no mistake, this is every bit as much a P/Funk album as it is a Digital Underground album, and George Clinton was on hand help make sure that "Sons" was more than the derivative sampling used by most other rappers. Shock's love of P/Funk is evident from start to finish, and makes it clear he's more of a funk gourmand than groupie, and this album is straight P/Funk from start to finish.

The best cuts include the "The DFlo Shuttle" featuring then DU member Tupac Shakur, the hilarious slam of black celebrities getting plastic surgery "No Nose Job", and the jaw dropping "Tales Of The Funky". The top 10 hit "Kiss You Back" is also here, and is even better in the LP form than the single.

It's worth buying this CD to see why Digital Underground is the only rap band to have worked P/Funk samples with the creativity and obvious respect they deserve.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the pilars of rap
You can almost make a game of picking out Parliment Funkadelic samples. Thats just one thing that makes this album fun. D.U. can flow like most dream to. Dflo Shuttle gets the groove going. Heartbeat Props makes a point that the living need as much respect as those who have passed on. In No Nose Job, Humpty leads the march in a track he made famous by pickiting cosmetic surgery establishments. D.U. keeps it going with Kiss You Back, Tales of the Funky, and a Dflo instrmental. The beats don't stop there, cause you're going to want to listen to it over and over again. No need for metallic frost bite preventiteve blizzard suits or helicopters. Just pure Hip-Hop P-Funk class. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great album from Warren G.
Warren G's sophomore album Take A Look Over Your Shoulder is one of G-Funk's great albums. This fun and interesting album has it all: bouncing party beats, the thoughtful lyrics, and that great G-Funk style and flavor. The songs are all touched with sun-soaked keyboards, and most notably the great guitar in many of the songs. The innovative styles and rapping on this album are breezy and laid-back, which is definitely Warren's style. In my mind, he is the true originator of G-Funk production, not Dr. Dre or Big Hutch, and Daz Dillinger would be G-Funk's greatest innovator. Warren also is a great rapper, his lyrics are comical and thoughtful at the same time. This was Warren's first album to be released on his new label, G-Funk Recordings, and this album has excellent guests as well. Nate Dogg, Ron Isley, Jayo Felony, Mr. Malik, The Five Footaz, The Twinz, Reel Tight, and Erick Sermon, plus many others. These guests fit well with Warren's beautiful beats.

Highlights on this album include "Annie Mae", a great duet with Nate Dogg, which will remind many of Warren's hit "Regulate", because it once again has Warren and Nate trading lines. This time though, it's about a girl named Annie Mae, and Warren and Nate compliment each other well here. The second single "Smoking Me Out", features Ron Isley singing the hook for a bouncy party track. Warren puts in a very nice rap, as well as on the excellent "Reality", a laid-back track celebrating a sunset gangsta scene. On "Young Fun", Jayo Felony and Knee-Hi join Warren for a funky gangsta track about life as a kid. Even though the promotional version of "What We Go Through" features Kurupt and Daz Dillinger and was taken off of the album, the new one is an excellent track, featuring Bad A$$, Mr. Malik and Technique (who is listed on the album as Perfect) for a pretty piano-laced track. On this song, Warren disses LL Cool J, really tearing him up. Many have wondered why Warren did diss LL, and it was because LL dissed Warren on his 1995 Mr. Smith LP. "We Brings Heat" is a nice track that features The Five Footaz and The Twinz, and is very good though Warren's beat sounds kind of like West Coast Mobb Deep (if one can picture that), it's still a great beat. "Transformers" is another nice keyboard-laced track, extremely nice laid-back track with a vocoder chorus. My favorite is "Relax Your Mind", which features Reel Tight singing the chorus, and a relaxing beat that really does clear your thoughts. "To All DJ's" is sure to get the party up, an extremely funky track with Mr. Malik. The first single "I Shot The Sheriff", is another one of the album's best, while the remix is included and done by Erick Sermon of EPMD, and the beat is a sample of "Strictly Business", performed by EPMD. On the European version, there is the bonus "What's Love Got To Do With It", and the song's remix. I have heard it and it's a great song, with cool guitars and lyrics. All of the tracks are good, "Back Up" is probably the album's worst, but it still is excellent.

To conclude my review, I would recommend this if you like G-Funk. If you do, it's a must.

3-0 out of 5 stars Warren G- Take A Look Over Your Shoulder
Warren G's sophomore album "Take A Look Over Your Shoulder" (1997) marked the return of the Regulator after a three year hiatus. Executive Produced by Warren G and Aaron Anderson, there is a large amount of guest appearances and vocals from a vast variety of artists. "Annie May" starts things off another Warren and Nate Dogg duet. Ron Isley laces "Smokin'Me Out" with some smooth soulful R & B vocals. First real standout track for me is "Reality", Warren reps the LBC and addresses his haters. Another standout for me is "Can You Feel It", Warren G drops a nice g-funk laced cut and is backed by some impressive vocals from Nanci Fletcher. Laid back "Relax Your Mind" feat. Reel Tight flows through smoothly. "What's Love Got to Do With It" is an exceptional Rap/R&B collabration, Warren G and Adina Howard shine together. Next comes the lead single, Warren G's version of Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" an excellent track. The album closes off with two decent remixes of the above tracks. A few things brought this album down for me, first off track placement- lead singles are best placed early on, and second- some of the guest appearances - letting completly unknown artists lead on tracks is not benefical and definitely can take away from album quality as it did here. Overall this is a decent album, highlights for me include some of Warren Gs production and the lead singles.

3-0 out of 5 stars Inconsistant as ever
Warren G can be down right smooth. But he can also be down right boring. I dont think anybody in the game has as much of a broad span as Warren. This is mainly because hes good tracks are absolutely great. Cant You Feel It is a dead set stand out on this album. The thick bass line is so spine tingly and so much so digs into your soul and pumps your heart with so much love. However there are 3 other tracks on the album that would sit nicely in a greatest hits collection but the rest are just a waste of time listening to. Smokin Me Out is one of the 3 naturally enough. It has bounce and the other 2 lesser tracks are Young Fun and Back Up. I shot the sherriff is a joke and I dont know why people love this. If you took the best tracks off all 4 Warren G albums it would be one of the most soulful listens you would have the plessure of hearing but there are way to many boring moments on his albums and this is no exception

2-0 out of 5 stars g-funk is nothing
This cd issssssssss nothinggggg there are only 2 good songs that i like on this album maby the ppl over at weast side love this kind of music but east coast isint down with this g funk garbage warren g isint all that with his lyrics this cd isint worth buying trust me.

2-0 out of 5 stars horrible G-Funk era comeback!
I'm surprised that Warren G survived THIS era! The lyrics on the album are bland and you would think that it was just another copycat album of "G-Funk Era" if you didn't know it was Warren G rapping on it! I gave it a 2 because 1)he's Warren G and does derserve some credit for trying to punch back and 2)because of couple of the songs were very decent, but most of the album was pitiful.
The tracks that made the album worth listening to were "Annie Mae", "Smokin' Me Out", and "Relax Yo' Mind" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars sTr8 fRoM tHa $tReEtS oF COMPTON
For those that don't know N.W.A, N.W.A was one of Rap's earliest rap groups consisting of members that are, today, still part of the Rap Game. They are MC Ren (was a local emcee), Eazy-E (was a drugdealer), Dr. Dre (one of Rap's most important producers today), Ice Cube (a great lyricist) and DJ Yella (the DJ of the group). They released albums they were impressing like "Straight Outta Compton", "100 Miles and Runnin", "NWA and the Posse" and "Efil4zaggin".

Greatest Hits consists of the many great songs that N.W.A made and includes memorable classics like:
F*ck tha Police
Express Yourself
Straight Outta Compton
100 Miles and Runnin'
Real N*ggaz
Gangsta Gangsta
But the one I love most is "Real N*ggaz Don't Die" because it has such a freaky tune to it and N.W.A. go all out on it.

Eazy-E is now dead and has been for quite some time now (died from AIDS for those that don't know), Ice Cube has become a huge rapstar and an actor (starred in movies like: Friday, Next Friday, Dangerous Ground etc.), Dr. Dre is still part of the Game and is one of Rap's most important producers, MC Ren is also still part of the game and I'm not sure where DJ Yella is at. N.W.A. were my favorite rap group back then but things have changed since they broke up. N.W.A. didn't just do it first, they did it the best and will always be an important group to Rap History.

If you want other dope albums, get these:
The D.O.C- No One Can Do It Better (features 'THE GRAND FINALE')
2pac- Me Against the World (features 'DEAR MAMA', 'F*CK THE WORLD', 'SO MANY TEARS', 'OUTLAW' and 'OLD SCHOOL')
2pac- All Eyez on Me (features '2 OF AMERIKAZ MOST WANTED', 'LIFE GOES ON', 'CALIFORNIA LOVE')
2pac- 7 Day Theory (features 'HAIL MARY')
2pac- Greatest Hits
Outlawz- Novakane (features 'GHETTO GUTTA', 'THIS IS OUR LIFE' and 'WORLDWIDE')
Outlawz- Still I Rise (features 'BABY DON'T CRY', 'BLACK JESUZ', 'GOOD DIE YOUNG')
Dr. Dre- Chronic 2001 (features 'THE NEXT EPISODE', 'FORGOT ABOUT DRE')
Snoop Dogg- Paid tha Cost to be tha Bo$$ (features 'FROM THE CHURCH TO THE PALACE', 'BEAUTIFUL')
Xzibit- Man vs. Machine (features 'MULTIPLY', 'X IN A MINOR', 'LOSIN' YOUR MIND', 'MY NAME')
Biggie- Life After Death (features 'HYPNOTIZE', 'NOTORIOUS THUGS', 'SKY'S THE LIMIT')
Bone Thugs- Thug World Order (features 'HOME', 'PUMP, PUMP', 'GET UP & GET IT)
Nas- God's Son (features 'I CAN', 'DANCE', 'MADE YOU LOOK')

Gangsta rap at it's best. pure class.

It'll go great with your "Public Enemy" and "Run-DMC" albums. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars SICWIDIT RECORDS
B-Legit is back from the click and still rippin' the mic
if you like hard basslines and ghetto flows this is the album
SICWIDIT RECORDS still puttin' it down for that WESTCOAST.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bela Geezy OFF Da Heezy
Well if you like the click and are a yea area rap fan this should be one of your favorites. I'm sure if you asked more than 100 w/coast rap fans if legit can hold his own at least 80 would say he can. Even though his cousin e-40 blew up the click, legit could have blow up himself with a big label backing him. B-legit has always had a good solid understandable flow, he raps right on the beat, kinda like too short. He really dosen't need the help of the click but it would be a crime if they didn't rap together, c'mon I mean there family. Now to the album it's self. Producers Studio Ton and Mike Mosley are never a let down, they can always suply none stop mob funk. All the songs on here u should be able to listen to because legit can flow and the producing is good but if u like legit for his hardcore sound than you'll do like me and skip over the softer tracks at times. The guess apperances on the album are very good and with all creditable w/coast rapper's( C-Bo,Kurupt,Celly Cel,40,A1,Lil Bruce and the Mossie). Singer Levitti also adds a much needed soulful sound to the album. What really suprises me about this album is tha song "Getto Smile", which is a wonderfull remake colaberation of singer Daryl Hall's original late 70's hit "Smile for me", Daryl Hall singing the chourus in between legits rap verses. Also the bonus track #15, not originaly intended to be on the album is a nice gift to all B-legits fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Puttin' It Down For The Yay Area!
B-Legit holds it down for the Yay Area but not with "The Click" but solo wise. He makes sure you feel this album with knockin' beats and lyrics showing you that he's not in 40 waters shadow. Not only does he put it down by himself but he features some of the top rappers puttin' it down for California. I recommend this album to everyone who likes E-40, Suga T, D-Shot, and "The Click" because B-Legit shows he's a major part of "The Click"

4-0 out of 5 stars Versatile Styles From This Valley Joe Pro
He brings the nice vibe with tracks like Hemp Museum and City to City with the mellow styles of Check It Out. He then ends his album with some of the hardest gangsta tracks that anybody from The Click has ever spit on a microphone. I would have liked to hear Levitti on a few more of the hooks, though. Sometimes rappers have too many artists feaured, but the guest features of Kurupt, A1, and Celly Cel make the album even better. This is slightly his best release, and it proves that the best city in the world when it comes to rap is Vallejo.

4-0 out of 5 stars B-legit is showing that there are 4 members in the Click ..
This is just as solid as his first and then them.B-legit is showing the world that the Clicks sucsess was no fluke and how bright the future for him and the sickwitit family really is...From E-40 and the Click to the Mossie this is the team thats been here since 92 and I don't see that changin any time soon....(I was at Philly Blunts studio in Vallejo back in September of 98 and a heard a new B-legit song that was recorded for his new album and it was off the hook..I hope it makes the album.....)Watch 4 the new album cuz he keeps gettin better..... ... HAVE YOU EVER PICKED UP A NEW ALBUM FROM ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE GROUPS, EXPECTING IT TO BE WORTH THE CASH AND 18 MONTH WAIT. ONLY TO BE DISAPOINTED CUZ THERE ARE ONLY TWO SONGS ON THE WHOLD DAMN CD THAT YOU ACTUALY LIKE. WELL LET ME JUST SAY THAT DELINQUENT HABITS "MERRY GO ROUND" HAS CLASSIC WRITEN ALL OVER IT. I COULD OF EASLY RATED THIS RECORD A 5 STAR BUT I DIDN'T. ONLY BECAUSE I DON'T LIKE PARTING WITH ALL OF MY STARS .I LIKE TO KEEP AT LEAST ONE FOR MY SELF. THE PRODUCTION ON THIS ALBUM CAN'T BE TOUCHED. OG SYLE IS A MASTER AT HIS CRAFT AND HAS TAKEN IT ONCE AGAIN TO THE NEXT LEVEL. THE LYRICS ARE ONCE AGAIN IN A LEAGUE OF THERE OWN, WITH NATURALY JUST ENOUGH SPANISH AND SPANGLISH SPRINKLED IN THE MIX. THES GUY'S SHOULD BE A HOUSE HOLD NAME BY NOW, BUT WITH THREE ALBUMS UNDER THEIR BELTS AND AT LEAST A MILLION UNITS MOVED WORLD WIDE. I'M SURE THAT MORE THAN JUST A FEW HOUSE HOLD'S KNOW THE NAME, dELiNQuENT hABiTS.!

DONT PASS THIS ONE UP. IT'S MOVES YOU

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST RAP BAND EVER................................
IF YOU NEVER EVER TOOK A CHANCE ON ANYTHING NEW, DON'T MISS YOUR OPPORTUNITY HERE. DELINQUENT HABITS ARE BANGIN. LATIN RAPPERS ARE UNDERRATED, BUT THERE GUYS TAKE IT TO A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL BY BLENDING SPANISH AND ENGLISH OVER SOME KILLER BEATS. SPANISH RAP OFFERED IN A COMPLETELY DIVERSE WAY. THIS ALBUM WILL SET A MARK IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. YOU GOTTA RESPECT WHAT THESE GUYS ARE ACCOMPLISHING IN THE MUSIC BIZ. THEY OFFER SOMETHING ORIGINAL, SOMETHING UNFORGETTABLE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Merry go Round
5 stars for this one, it's a great album and when was it that you actually heard someone use the weels of steel to make some nice cuts on an album. Buy this!!!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars This will be one of my favorite rap albums of all time
I first became acquainted with Delinquent Habits when I heard their song on the radio back in 1996, "Tres Delinquentes." It grabbed me immediately because I grew up with my dad listening to Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, and here was a rap song using the Tijuana Brass's "The Lonely Bull" as its hook. Wow! I liked it so well I was going to buy the whole album, but when I sampled the rest of the album, it suffered from two major drawbacks: 1) The rest of the tracks had no character, just generic rap, and 2) way too much profanity.
How pleasantly I was surprised when I heard this subsequent album, "Merry Go Round." What a world a difference! This was the album I was expecting the first time around...and it's even better than those expectations! The music is fascinating, the rapping is interesting, and there is very little profanity (something hard to find on a rap album these days!).
This album uses Latin influences much more than the first one, with "Return Of The Tres" and "Que Vuelva" being my favorites, but I like all the Latin influences musically as well as the Spanglish rapping. This is Southwest U.S. Latin sound too, not that Caribbean stuff that makes it big on the pop charts.
But as much as I like the Latin sounds, these guys shine this time around even when they're not using any sound that is distinctly Latin. "The Kind" is a rap over a sample of some killer classical music. "No Sense" is a pensive track over quiet acoustic guitars. And other sounds I just can't categorize very easily; listen to the samples of "Station Thirteen," "Feel Good," and "Midnite Spin" to get a taste of the non-Latin sounds from this album.
This album has a great variety of moods--from the street-dance sound of "Station Thirteen" to the pinata-party dance sound of "Return of the Tres," from the romantic singing of Michelle on "Que Vuelva" to the dark look at life in "No Sense," there is plenty of variety here to keep the album fresh.
I believe this will be one of my favorite rap albums of all time (and currently, the only totally rap album I like better is Urban D's "The Tranzlation"). It only gets 4 stars for one reason because I'm very conservative about giving out 5 star ratings; the weakness comes from the last three or four songs on the album which don't hold up quite as well as the rest. But that's a minor complaint. This is truly an excellent album.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! This is Tight
These guys ROCK! They're that best (Latino)Rap Group I've ever Heard. I like all the tracks in this album but some of my favorite ones espialy include House of the rising drum, Return of the tres, Boulevard Star, midnite Spin and the Kind, but all together this cd is Intence. With great Tunes and Spanglish Rymes, this is the CD thats always on my CD player right now.
If you like Latin Hip-Hop or Hip-Hop/Rap all together you must have this CD, trust me you wont be disapointed! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars STOP HATIN' B*TCHES!!!
I am sick of everybody sayimg MD is wac kor done or mainstream or that he fell off and all that bullsh*t! MAC DRE is greatest rapper alive and in my opinion of all time. Follwed closely in no order by 2pac, Spice 1 and Reek Daddy and X raided in his prime. And I can't forget King Nicky. This album is bad ass. Sure his style has changed signifcantly since the days of YBB and Kayhhee, but he still comes tight and flows better than anybody alive in the game. Mac Dre is simply "experimenting" with thizz(among other things if you know what I'm talking about) and it obviously is reflected in his music. I can't wait for the new albums to drop-Ronald DREgan and Genie of the Lamp- and REAL MD fans can still appreaciate his sicc ass music. Although he has changed signifcantly and will never be able to top his early sh*t the last thing he will ever be is mainstream. He is on top of the underground world, a legend of the rap game. I don't care where you're from if you think Mac Dre fell off you're outa your mind. QUIT HATTIN!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Strong First Album
The debut album of Mack 10 was above average. At that time Mack 10 had more emotion (usually anger) to his work. We all know the classic "Foe Life". The best track was "Westside Slaughterhouse" f/ Ice Cube, and WC. Cube spits out the imfamouse chorus, "They been rappin' since the 70's and still never went gold." With this track let people know that there was a fueling beef between the East Coast and West Coast. There are some weaknesses to this album but its mostly due to the oversampling, and the shotty production towards the end of the album. When I heard the album the better tracks were produced by Ice Cube and the 88x Unit. There are some other good tracks like "Mozi-Wozi", "Chicken Hawk", and my other personal favorite "H-O-E-K". This album by Mack 10 was probably the best; before Mack 10 lost his fire in this rap game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mack 10's most impressive rapping and nice hardcore beats.
Before Mack 10 was tempted by money and commercial success, he certainly could kick some dope rhymes. His debut had a couple weaknesses but is mostly quite good. The hit single "Foe Life" was an instant club hit, and was produced by Ice Cube with a funky saxophone loop and Mack 10 introducing himself to the world. "Wanted Dead" is also a classic gangsta track with a late night sort of feel to it, and Mack 10 tears this song up. "On Them Things" is kind of an abrasive track but sounds really good, and has the standard gangsta sound to it. "Chickenhawk" is another tight track with booming bass and some funky vocals. "Here Comes The G" is an absolute classic, with a nice, funky bounce and laid-back feel. Mack also tore this song up. "Westside Slaughterhouse" also is a classic, and features WC and Ice Cube, and Cube takes a shot at Common Sense to spark the beef they had (Common lyrically obliterated Ice Cube). WC also had some of the coldest battle lines on this vicious track. Also, there are some nice tracks like "Armed And Dangerous" which has a neighborhood, summertime feel to it, and "Mozi-Wozi" is a nice sex track, about a hotel with a nice, slow beat added to it. "Mack Ten's The Name" is Mack 10 telling all fakes in the game that they better change their name to Mack 11 because Mack 10 is HIS name. Also, Kay-Dee connects with Mack very nicely on "H.O.E.K.", another good track about females. There are a couple pointless interludes, and one extremely wack song in "Ten Million Ways" which has a repeatitive and boring beat and hook. That lowers the overall rating but still this is a worthy and impressive debut. Excellent production came from Ice Cube, Rhythm D, and others.

This is definitely an album to buy if you like Mack 10, or even if you hate his new music, you have to give credit to this as a worthy listen. Mack 10 slowly evolved into a more commercial artist and his hunger and creativity seemed to leave along with it, but he was in top form on his self-titled debut, his finest hour. I recommend this.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Album!
This is probably one of the best albums in the world. Any album that has "Foe Life" makes it a must-have album. Next to "foe Life" the best songs are Westside Slaughterhouse, and Wanted Dead. There is NO reason not to pick up this album, I suggest it to all gangsta/Westcoast rap fans.

1-0 out of 5 stars MACK 10 IS SORRY
HE IS SUPPOSE TO BE A BRAND BUT DON'T PUT ANY OF HIS BRAND HOMIES ON.HE GET NO RESPECT IN THE GAME. I KNOW IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND THAT'S GOOD.ANYWAYZ A'S UP CUZZ.

4-0 out of 5 stars A little soft, but still good
Mack 10 didnt push the limits like he did on his other CD's. I am not sayin he went pop or anythign, far from it, just that he wasent hardcore on this cd. The intro is great, and Foe Life and slaughter house are great tracks. I recommend this cd for sure, just his more recent albums are more gangsta. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific beats
I think this is a terrific CD It is as good as their first album, which I loved. If you liked their first, get this one before volume 2(which I liked as well)

5-0 out of 5 stars The best yet
I thought the junkies did their best with volume 2, i was definitly wrong. rhemattic and melo mix some of the illest beats ive ever heard, and all the people you could want to be ont his album are. buy it now son

5-0 out of 5 stars Felonious Beats!
They don't call these cats the Beat Junkies for nuthin. Tracks 2 through the rest of the album are some of the hardest beats I've heard in recent years. Do yourself a favor and crank up the bass when you pop in this CD to fully appreciate what Melo-D has done here.

If you're looking for lyrical acrobatics, you won't be very impressed. Most of these MCs sound like they're freestylin in the studio. The lone standout is Rasco who busts some truly hardcore battle rhymes over a high-powered track. But even if every track was an instrumental, this album would still be worth its weight in platinum.

5-0 out of 5 stars ill
This CD is sick as hell, and anybody who doesn't get this needs a slap in the face, this CD has has everybody: LootPack, LMNO, Xzibit, Defari, Afu-Ra, Rasco, Quasimoto, what more could one ask for in a compilation CD, and after all that, it's still got the Beat Junkie tracks of just scratching. Get it. ... Read more

Amazon.com's Best of 2001

If scholars scrutinize the brush stroke of a master painter, Aceyalone deserves the same level of appreciation for his wordplay. Ever since he first emerged with the Freestyle Fellowship, Acey has arguably shown himself to be the premier West Coast lyricist, crafting intricate rhyme schemes loaded with brilliant content. He flexes the creativity of a poet with the heart of a braggart, making him a dangerous opponent in any cipher. That's not to say that Acey's perfect--he's had an uneven track record on LPs. But Accepted Eclectic doesn't try for the lofty (but ill-executed) concept status of Book of Human Language, and features more consistent production than his debut All Balls Don't Bounce. Instead, Acey sticks to the basics: good rhymes, good beats, great songs. He shows unlimited range in topic, from the reflective and philosophical "Never Knew" to the rapid-fire "B-Boy Real McCoy" to a surprising remake of Ed O.G.'s classic "I Got to Have It (Too)"--he doesn't try to improve on the original (a common mistake among rappers) but instead extends it, even bringing in Ed O.G. to preserve the lineage. Concepts aside, it's still Acey's gift of gab that's the draw. His versatility is unparalleled: his words can tap dance their way across a track, as on "Golden Mic," or dig deep into it with verbal cleats, as on "Five Feet." For veteran Acey fans and the uninitiated alike, "Accepted Eclectic" is a stunning example of how far lyricism can go with its ability to amaze and inspire. --Oliver Wang ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ACE 1 Still has it !!
Aceyalone is probably in my opinion one of the most underated MC's of this decade in Hip Hop. There's just something about his rhymes that makes me say Sh%* everytime I hear it. This cat definitley has serious skills. Every lyric in his rhymes actually has significance to it. He truly makes his lyrics turn into an art form. His lyrics range from stories about life to philosophies of mankind. This album Accepted Eclectic took me a couple of listens to get completely sysed about it because it was pretty different from "Book of Human Language" because Fatjack produced this album as opposed to the last one being done by DJ mumbles. I definitely recommend ACE1's first album "Book of human language" before you hear this one because that is the album that made me drop my jaw when I heard him. All in all they are both incredible. ....plus, if you actually do decide to look into this incredible MC and you like what you hear, then definitley look into getting "who framed the A-Team" because ACE1 definitely sweeps other rappers up with this one too.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the top releases of 2001
A consistently tight release. It starts with a roughin' up of no skills rappers and I suppose skilled mc's as well who put their talents to poor use on "Rappers, Rappers, Rappers". On "Microphones", Acey teams up with P.E.A.C.E. to put together an anthem to mics that extols the virtues and transcendental power of a microphone in the hands of a rapper who loves it (think Run-D.M.C.'s "Me, Myself and My Microphone"). Aceyalone shows amazing lyrical dexterity with rapid-fire spit on "Golden Mic" and the title-track which also features an oboe on top of the beats laid down by Handle Bars. "Master Your High" is a thorough smackdown to folks who party too hard. The delivery on the track is slow and clear enough to get through to the drunkest among us. With all the solid cuts on this album though, hats off to "Five Feet". Production by Fat Jack is simple without being boring and Aceyalone is at the top of his game here. On one of hip-hops best cuts in this young century Ace-One lays out his need for a little personal space. He hits on overly touchy folk, sloppy drunks (a topic dissected further on "Master Your High") and packed subways. It's the pinnacle of an album tight enough to make you build an altar to this West Coast underground legend.

3-0 out of 5 stars Rappers Rappers Rappers
Dissing "Hello Kitty Rappers" and bragging that he's "cursin' like a sailor with a bottle fulla Jagermeister," he makes up with his mouth what he lacks in street cred. He's old school in that his samples are scratchy and offbeat (y'know, classical strings, woodwinds, noize) and his many boasts concern mc skills, not trouser bulge. So, sixteen solid tracks, no stinkers, well done. But nothing sticks out, either - no obvious selection for a mix tape. Rather than play the fool a la Del the Funky Homosapian, he takes the safer route and remains rigid, uptight, kind of banal. In other words, the album's not much fun. But it's still morally (even aesthetically?) preferable to any thug anthem currently booming fron yonder frat house or SUV.

3-0 out of 5 stars one of the best mcs.
aceyalone is one of the best mcs there is today, he uses just enough wordplay to make his lyrics sound good and not too cluttered that's where a lot of mcs can go wrong trying to fit as many metaphors into their lyrics as they can because they really don't have much to say. the only thing that would make him better is better beats some of the tracks sounded a little thin as far as production goes but over all this is something I would buy if you like good mcs and good lyrics.

5-0 out of 5 stars no collection is complete without this
Aceyalone brings in my opinion one of the finest underground hip hop albums ever. Accepted eclectic has the dope rhymes and some of the most unique beats out there. This album starts with the feel good track of the year,Five Feet. And ends with project blowed and all inbetween is priceless. even If you have never heard of Aceyalone you should pick up this album and if you have been listening to hip hop for years pick it up your collection is not complete without it ... 4-0 out of 5 stars definatly pick this one up
This is a very good album. I like at the speed of life better but this has many high points. Every song on here has style and flow with a great beat. I'm happy that x to the z finally came out the ground because these albums would have sent him nowhere. I feel that when x came up and finally got his big break he started to sell record because of his production mostly. Xzibit may be the best west coast rapper now but I will most definatly let you know that he won't be for long. Xzibit really neads to bring this album back with dope production from Dre feature hardly anyone and get a 5 mic. When that happens then he is the king of west side. The greats is of coarse what u see is what you get and 3 card molly. Another dope song is LA times. The rest of the tracks are like these but kinda lack but better than average. Intros could have been left for dead and same with shroomz. Everything else is great but those kinda bring this one down (not hated just average). Underground production is loved and of coarse loud records. Not average but can get a 4 because x has style that others might wanna bite but can't or haven't yet...

4-0 out of 5 stars Xzibit is a tight MC yet not his best work.
After I was introduced to Xzibit through "At the Speed of Life" I was entranced by this rapper's dope flows and tight lyrics. He is truly one of the most talented MC's out there right now. When I bought "40 Dayz and 40 Nightz" I was really looking forward to another masterpiece. After reviewing the tracks I was a little dissapointed. His lyrics and theme-oriented rhymes were great, but the beats were kinda weak. There were many good songs, but they could've have been better produced. Regardless though I can feel songs like What U See Is What U Get, 3 Card Molly, Pussy Pop, and Recycled Assasins. Shroomz is also a hilarious song. Overall, I give it 4 stars just because Xzibit is the best rapper out right now, yet with a little better producing it would easily be 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars tuck ya nuts if u wanna dis this
unlike most xzibit fans who like his earlier album "at the speed of life" i have to say this album is pure genius. This album was also made before x became dr dres bitch. The beats on this album are at a seperate level than any garbage you will here today. Besides the beats the lyrics are pure fire on tracks like "3 Card Molly", "What you see is what you get", "Handle your Business", and "Let it Rain". The CD has some great guests on it like Ras Kass, Saafir, J-Ro, Tash, King T, Method Man, and Jayo Felony. I recomend this for any one who is a fan of rap and a fan of music, or some one who loves music from the streets. If you are into tear da club up music like j-kwon or lil jon dont buy this, because this is quality music

4-0 out of 5 stars tight cd but RESTLESS was a alittle bit beta
i got the cd a couple of weaks ago n i was excited to get it cuz it was the last cd i needed to have all the xzibit cds. the first 6 songs r bangin (STRAIGHT FIRE, especially CHAMBER MUSIC) but then the songs get wack till track # 12, 13 is ok n then 16. the lyrics r good its just that i wasnt feelin the beatz. but u should still go out n cop the cd.

This is some 1980s and early 1990s rapping and the beatmasters from before the N.W.A. days.Dr.Dre and Yella were also two of the DJs in this crew. They were not very widely known out of california. Most of the songs on here are about the ladies.
