5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding cash money debut for juvenile
This album was juvenile's first cash money cd and I must say it's a very good album that has a great feel to it.If you are a juvenile fan and you don't have this album you should go out and get it because you'll definately like it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why do people insist this one isn't tight?
Solja Rag is a REALLY GOOD album from Juvey. A HUMONGOUS improvement from his first album (although his first was on another label), Solja Rag is a VERY tight album with tight cuts such as "Solja Rag," and"Hide Out Or Ride Out." Just another typical great album fromCMR.

As the No Limit tank rolls ever onward, the burden of excellence increasingly falls upon Mystikal to provide compelling reason to listen to the label's output. While the other soldiers have let complacency stagnate their skills, Mystikal (along with Mia X) pushes on. Ghetto Fabulous picks up where Unpredictable left off: Mystikal spends his time embarrassing his No Limit peers (even Snoop!) and regaling the listener with even more well-constructed street sagas--all delivered with that unharnessed flow that is his trademark. Most appropriately, he pairs up with New York sound-alike Busta Rhymes for "Whacha Want, Whacha Need," a sonic gumbo laced with Caribbean spice. --Jon Caramanica ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hot Song!
This song by Kane & Abel is blazin'! If you down with that bouncy-down south sound this is a must. Kane & Abel was one of the more talented artirst comin' out of No Limit Records. You can't help but bobbin' your head to this beat and sing along with the chorus or dance to the song. Great dirty south music. Must have!

2-0 out of 5 stars Misled
I was very disappointed when I received the cd and found that it did not have the version with Mystikal. I have never heard the version on this cd, all I had ever heard in the club and on the radio is the version with Mystikal, which I am guessing was a remix. If you are looking for that version... make sure you are clear with the vendor. Wasted my money on this one. I don't like it at all. Sounds like a couple of kids in the bathroom playing with a tape recorder.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best album from the Atlanta duo, period.
"Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik" was good, and I do not doubt that it was groundbreaking and put Outkast on the map. But "ATLiens" was by far and best album they put out. The Source gave it 4 mics and gave "Aquemini" 5, but I really believe that they were giving "Aquemini" an extra mic to make up for not labeling "ATLiens" a hip-hop classic. I can understand how fans of the first album might not have understood or liked the new sound, and it truly is a departure from the pimp stylings of their debut. "ATLiens" runs deeper, fusing soul, R&B and smooth-as-molasses hip-hop with Big Boi's street-wise raps and Dre's spiritual soliloquies. It's a beautiful album, and one that any real hip-hopper should have in their collection. Highlights, well, every song is a highlight, but when it comes down to it, the driving beats of "Ova Da Wudz," "Jazzy Belle" and "Elevators" surpass anything Master P or the Hot Boys ever came out with. And "13th Floor/Growing Old" is one of the most poignant hip-hop spirituals of all time. Get this album.

5-0 out of 5 stars Deserves Close Encounter
Everything about Outkast's second release is an experience. The intro sets the mood for a funked-out Alien joy ride through the ATL. From there, the album only gets better; "2 Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac)" is catchy with its eery beat and soothing hook. Next is "ATLiens", whose hook is bound to get the party going (and who doesn't recall the line "cooler than a polar bears toenails"?). Every cut from then on uses the same formula: laid back E.T. style beats with soft R&B-like-flowing hooks. other stand-out tracks include "Wheelz Of Steel", "Jazzy Belle", "Elevators", and "Millenium", whose hook of soft grunting creates an incredibly smoothe, clean sound. And the lyrics? Off the hook; neither Dre nor Big Boi miss a beat anywhere on the album. Only Outkast can pull off aruging black rights and boasting their fur coats in the same verse. And guest appearances by Goodie Mob & Babyface only make the album better. Throw together tight lyrics with crisp production and a couple great featured artists, and the listener is immersed into Outkast's extraterrestrial world of players, pimps and hoes. The hook for "E.T., Extraterrestrial" descride the album perfectly; "Out of this world".

If you like ATLiens, check out: "Dead Prez - Let's Get Free", "Goodie Mob - Soul Food", "The Roots - Do You Want More?!!!??!", "Blackalicious - Nia"

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Classic from the One and Only Outkast
If you have the first album then you can really see the growth of Andre and Big Bio as artist and musicians. Everything is stepped up on this album from the production, lyrics, flow, and originality!! You can tell from this album that they are no one hit wonders, but made to last true stars especially Andre 3000.

P.S. Listen to 13th floor/Growing Old and E.T. then you'll get this album right off the back.

5-0 out of 5 stars Innovative creative and out of this world
Outkast's best album by far nothing else compares. Aquemini and Southernplayalisticaddilacmusik were also great albums as well the rest were ok but nothing special personally not something I could listen to over and over again the way I did the others

5-0 out of 5 stars The first Hip-Hop album you should listen to
If you were looking for an album that was thoughtful and moving, you wouldn't generally buy a rap album, but this is some beautiful music dudes and dudesses! It is certainly the most thought provoking hip-hop album I have ever heard. Songs like 13th floor and Millenium are simply timeless.
'Some things gotta change, sounds of laughter and happiness turn my teardrops to the rain, like memories of yesterday'.
There is eroticism too- 'Im fascinated by the way your nipples poke at me through your blouse'.
The only thing better than the deep (yet unpretentious lyrics) are the tremendous, soulful hooks, which combine great vocal harmonies with an organ or a piano say.
The three best times to play this album are; Driving alone at night (but watch not to crash with relaxation!), when hungover (when profoundity and sensitivity is heightened), or at the end of a hot party or night out. One cant say that ATLiens is the best Outkast album, because there is not a best Outkast album, that is the brilliance of the group- that there is an album for each mood. Yet this is hip-hop and music at its' best. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars "Balls And My Word" is not the highlight of Face's career
In 2002, Scarface dropped the Southern rap gem, "The Fix", his first album on Def Jam. Following the success of said album, Rap-A-Lot head honcho, J Prince is pulling a Suge Knight and releasing some of his old vault material as a new album. Just like "Dead Man Walking", Death Row's mediocre Snoop Dogg album, "Balls And My Word" is an uneven mix of dated material that sounds like nothing that Face would release on his own.

The first single, "B-tch N-ggaz" is actually a remix of the controversial "Snitch Niggaz" that was changed when Face himself wanted no part of what was an elaborate publicity stunt involving Z-Ro dissing 50 Cent. All commentary about 50 has been removed from the album version and the only remaining shots at 50 are done subliminaly as Mike Dean's beat sounds strangely familar to that of "In Da Club". A more appropriate choice for the single might have been "Only Your Mother" which features an absolutely dope chorus and guest verse from the phenominal Devin The Dude.

The remainder of the album is pretty mediocre aside from "On My Grind" and "Spend The Night" which are in themselves not the best reason to go out and buy this album. You get fourteen tracks and the opening and closing two don't even feature Scarface on them. The production is nothing spectacular though T-Mix's "Only Your Mother" is certainly a standout track that is worth checking out.

4-0 out of 5 stars I dare these new cats to even TRY to get at Brad...
Man, y'all jus' believe EVERYTHING you hear, don'cha? Okay, look, if Face didn't want or support the release of this album by J Prince like so many'a y'all claim then why did he do the video for the first single 'Recognize' where he also prominently annouces "I still ride for Prince like a soldier!" Jus' cause the media who were so enthralled by his epic, major Def Jam debut 'The Fix', wants this loked-up OG to be down with every darlin' in mainstream hip-hop an' jus' 'cause the MEGA-corporate Def Jam wants to keep Face in their greener pastures doesn't mean he's goin' to.

I'll be the first to admit that the path Face took on 'the Fix' was definitely his mos' incredible an' chilling yet, tapping his mos' introspective an' unashamedly sensitive lyrics yet; like Face was actually comin' to grips with his demons an' lookin' at brighter days ahead (hard 'ta believe, huh?). But then less than a year later, this album dropped on an unsuspecting (an' unnoticing) public with literally NO promotion or lead single whatsoever. A simple cover an' album title, but pop the album in an' you'll hear nothin' but vintage Face. Anybody who's a TRUE fan is gettin' their ghetto savior back on here, as Brad keeps it straight gutter; raw, dirty, grimy, an', as much as I hate to use this OVER-used term, gangsta as hell.

The aforementioned 'Recognize' announces it all; new arrival, down with Rap-A-Lot for life, a deep growling beat that throbs an' forces you to nod your head in synch with the pulsating funk. An' you never hear this kinda truth nowadays ("How can a n---a from the South get a pass in every section? An' walk the projects with no protection; be surrounded by a mob an' NOT get robbed; considered to be a savior, an' NOT be God"). There's a plethora of great songs here from the dark an' hardcore 'On My Grind' featuring Z-Ro, a hussla's anthem, to the slick, dreamlike 'Only Your Mother' featuring Devin the Dude an' Tela, puttin' the tricks in place with some sadly funny verses. The bar-none best track on the album in my opinion is 'Make Your Peace', a bluesy song where Face bares his soul an' paints some'a his mos' chilling imagery of death an' eternity yet. This song will make the hairs on the back'a 'yo neck stand up an' coldness run through your body. You listen to his description of his dream about Hell an' tell me that he is not the best street poet since we lost Pac. Then you've got the strange an' hypnotic 'Mary II', a long overdue continuation of a Scarface classic, and also 'Dirty Money' featuring Tanya Herron, where Face brings out the stylized '70s-bred funk beats of his early days. The last couple of tracks 'F---'n with Face' an' 'Invincible' I prob'ly coulda done without; not really bad, but weak compared to the rest'a the album. But, all is forgiven when you hear 'Real N---a Blues', a perfect closing outro, with Lil' Poppa Roach spittin' some storied, frenzied, an' thought-provoking poeticisms (does that make sense?) backed up by the slow-rising, cinematic theme music from the movie 'Scarface'. It's a perfect closer to a great album.

I'd reccommend 'Balls and My Word' to you hip-hop fans who're gettin' a little tired of hearin' the mindless bullcrap that gets called "original" an' "groundbreaking" nowadays. You could prob'ly do even better that this album, if you look hard enough, but for now this will be my contender. Scarface keeps it straight ghetto for his peoples an' thas' why the brotha gets so much love. Y'all young hip-hop heads make me laugh. I'd like'ta see ANY one'a these new cats even TRY to step to Brad Jordan. Can't none'a them see him in ANY light. When y'all recognize you'll see how you been played by the commercial junk.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not feelin this...
This album isn't a TRUE album from da King of Southern rap. These are cutting floor throwaways and the quality of the music and the lyrics show that. There is not a single 'must hear' song on the album and it is quite possibly the worst album I have purchased this year. After sporting one of the best album covers I expected this to be an underground classic....not so. The beats are terrible...terrible ...terrible. I don't know who put them together but whoever it was they need to retire. The only songs that are listenable are the ones done by Mike Dean. Scarface would have never rhymed over those other corny sounding generic beats. Speaking of rhymes...these are Scarface's worst...showing why they were never intended for release. It's just gangsta talk but not the introspective realness from Scarface, just a lot of posing. The whole album is just BLAZE'. Weak, old, and uninspired beats, banal & boring rhymes, tired guest appearances that were just thrown on here. This was an obvious attempt to make money off of Scarface's name and it succeeded brilliantly. Don't invest in this. If you want some real Scarface get ANY of his other albums.

5-0 out of 5 stars Face Mob's best album!
This album is great. It is just as good as "The Fix" if not better.

The one song on this CD that you will just feel right from the get go is track 8 "Make Your Peace." If you like hot Scarface songs listen to this song! I think its the best cut he's ever done.

If you like Scarface and you like to listen to gret music, get this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars guess who's back
scarface is the best solo southern rap star. this album is him getting away from the more commercial sound of the fix. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nelly Returns to the Waves
St. Louis rapper Nelly hits the airwaves with the first single from his new album "Nellyville." The song is very catchy and was one of the summer of 2002's biggest hits. Not many rap artists can produce catchy songs due to the high level of un-originality that market has (e.g., sampling Broadway musicals, Duran Duran songs, etc..) but Nelly has proven that with this song that not only can he get his groove on, but that he can produce a single with high potential for market crossover success. Regardless of his feud with other old-school rap artists such as KRS-1, Nelly's appeal lies in his ability to adapt to the times, something that many rappers have not been able to do. Only a handful artists such as Busta Rhymes, Queen Latifah, and Ice Cube have mastered the art of keeping with rap's evolution, and so far Nelly has. Overall, "Hot in Here" is a great summer anthem sure to keep anyone moving. Regardless of the song's critics it remains one of 2002's best jams.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nellyville #1
I rate this CD with five stars. I think Nelly really worked hard on this Cd rather then Country Grammer since it was his first album he didn't really have to throw all on his fans. Nellyville is getting rave reviews all over the country his single Hot in Heere was at number one for 2 weeks straight. His next single Dillema I think will be at number 1 next because myself and everyone else just absolutley loves that song I think it is so beautiful he just really outdid himself on this album Good work! Nelly you did a beautiful!

from the first time I heard this cut i was feeling it.I like some of the stuff Outkast does some more than others.this one really hit well.cool title, vibe&flow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow...
Okay, I confess. I don't actually own this single, but I have this song downloaded, so, close enough.

That being said, "B.O.B." is surely one of the best rap songs EVER. I have managed to listen to it probably 20 times and am still not one bit tired of it. From the catchy-as-hell chorus to the rapid-fire delivery in the verses, and the rock-influenced background music, this song is truly something to marvel at. What I like probably most of all is that there is virtually no profanity in it--not that OutKast needs it. Their talent is so polished and undeniable, who needs profanity?

Jaw-dropping song. Don't miss it.

5-0 out of 5 stars REALLY REALLY SPIFFY!!

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Hip Hop Albums Of All Time
This album is so innovative and precisely produced. With beats provided by Mozart Timadeas (my favorite producer), vocals by Magoo, Missy, Playa, Ginuwine, Aaliyah, this album is a 5 out of 5. At first listen you'll be like what the heck is this, but for sure after the first listen of the whole album you'll be hooked to it. From the first track to the last. You have hip hop and R&B throughout this entire album. When you listen to the album you will notice that they were ahead of their time. After listening to the album I thought, damn, "These cats were on some tight stuff back in '97", and indeed they were. I am telling you this is one of the most creative albums ever. There is a track on the album where Timbaland just talks over the beat and you actually rock to it. I love the whole album, but my favorite tracks are Luv 2 Luv U ( both versions ), Up Jumps The Boogie ( both versions ), Joy, Man Undercover, Clock Strikes. I am a true Timbaland fan, I am down with him and the whole click, holla at ya boy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Timbaland is a visionary!
I love the combination of Tim's deep, robot-ish voice and Magoo's higher, cartoon-character voice. With both of them, plus Missy and other guests, it never gets boring. The lyrical references are clever ("Help, I see a Beatle, Cool out, it's only Ringo") and sometimes obscure, which I like. And of course the beats are phenomenal! Tim is the master. It took me a while to realize this, as I'd heard "Clock Strikes" quite a bit without really paying close attention. But then I heard some other songs, notably "Luv 2 Luv U (Remix)", and I was hooked. It's just so smooth and catchy, yet quirky and totally unique. I think Timbaland is what people always say Puffy is -- a visionary producer whose style seems to have invaded the genre with all the imitators who have popped up after him. But unlike Puffy, Tim has this certain something that makes me want to listen to his stuff non-stop, even when it's sung by artists I previously had no interest in (e.g., Aaliyah). Plus, he's got his own style and charisma. Timbaland rules.

5-0 out of 5 stars [this]move is wrong...
Not only does this cd have beats, but magoo has some lyrics you cant mess with. Bomb flow, and the lyrical contect just cant be comprimised or compared. Up Jumps Da Boogie will always be one of my fav. songs of all time.

5-0 out of 5 stars A classic must-have for any CD collection
I have had this CD since it first came out in 1997 and it has never gotten boring! There are a multitude of songs that cover every aspect of hip-hop. There are faster, dance tracks and some slow ballads featuring Ginuwine and Aaliyah, with Missy on many tracks. My favs are the non remix version of Luv 2 Luv U, Man Undercover, Smoke in Da Air, and the Up Jumps the Boogie original and remix. Timbaland certainly knows how to work the rap game.

5-0 out of 5 stars We gon Show You How We Party
This joint bangs like naps. Like the words of Keith Murray "Make you nod ya head so much you need counseling". My brother had to pry my copy out of my hands. I Was going thru withdrawal and often got violent with people over this you know throwing stuff, fighting. I even went back into a burning house to get this. Ys get the point? This is so tight. The Beats are sensational all day everyday. Timbaland Really came with the heat this album. Some say Magoo is not a good rapper I say he dont have to be with Timbaland beats. Just look at Missy. You can pretty much say anything over these beats and it will be tight. You wont even pay attention to the lyrics cus you would have already broken ya neck. I only dislike one song and that is Joy. However my favorite songs are Luv 2 Luv u(both versions) Up Jumps Da Boogie( both versions), Clock Strikes ( both versions), smooke in da air, deep in yo memory, writtin rhymes, beep beep, Man undercover. This is THE album for beats timbaland makes the phat beats to ride to. A must have for essential exercise of the neck and shoulder muscles. A Masterpiece ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mystikal is god
Mystikal is the tightest rapper of all time. no one can beat is flow or his tight rymes. mystikal is going to stay at the top for ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Artists of all time
Mystikal is the tighest of all time. All of his CD's are tight and if you didn't know there are four of them. Mystikal rap is in the league of the best rapper of all time with Tupac. No one will ever beat his style. Because "People that don't even listen to rap still by my tapes". He also has the tighest song and tighest beat of all time on the Mind of the Mystikal album, the song is "Here I Go". This song and beat can get anyone off there feat. If you don't believe me buy it and find out. Cause "That's the Rapper" "Respect My Mind" and I'm "Unpredictable" "Beware" because "I'm" the one that can't be stopped.

5-0 out of 5 stars Too $hort's Best
In a day and age where it seems like any rapper can grab the spotlight for 15 minutes of fame, Too Short is an anomaly. With virtually no radio or MTV play, he has consistently put out successful albums, regularly reaching platinum status. "Get in Where You Fit In", Short's 8th record, easily rates as one of the best rap/hip-hop albums of the 90's, and is considered by most to already be a classic.
Ant Banks teamed up with Short to produce the album, and the legendary team made the "Oakland Funk" style a bona-fide sound. Eliminating most of the phrase-sampled loops from the album's beats, they instead focused on live instruments and programmed drums, resulting in a sound that is clear and original. LA producer QDIII provides a masterpiece of a beat as well, on the song "Just Another Day".
Too Short may not be the most lyrically gifted rapper out there, but at least he knows his identity. He includes many trademark "dirty" raps, and sticks to familiar ground with the album's content, but--that is what he does best.
The real strength of the album lies in its supporting characters. This album was produced in 1993, at a time when the Bay Area Dangerous Crew was at its strongest. Short is backed up by some of the best Oakland and San Francisco rappers, including Spice 1, Goldy, Father Dom, Rappin' Ron, Ant Diddly Dog, and others. The distinctive styles of these rappers when paired with the style-defining beats combine to make Get In Where You fit in not only Too Short's best album, but the epitome of the Northern California rap sound.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great album for anyone who loves X-rated funk.
On this album, Too $hort continues to play his 'pimp' character, in great doses. This album is definitely not for the more sensitive viewers, due to his extremely sexist views, but if it doesn't offend you, you'll love it. This album, as are all of $hort's, is heavily influenced by P-Funk, and there are many great samples on it. The best song is definitely "I'm a Player", on which he tells the lifestyle of mackin' over a dope funk beat. This is actually one of the best Short Dog songs you will ever hear, and it is worth buying just for the one song. Of course, all the songs are good though, including the remake of B.J.B., which is probably better than the original. This is also the first album, with $hort's Dangerous Crew partners rapping on many of the songs. Definitely go buy this. If you don't, then you need to "Get In Where You Fit In, Biiiiiitch"!

5-0 out of 5 stars Too Sheeeeezy!
This is Too Short's greatest album! Man, its banging from start to finish. A couple of the songs are too long, but that's the only fault. Just Another Day and Gotta Get Some Lovin' are too of the funkiest beats ever! Keep on pimpin', Short!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is some pimp ....
Too $hort is the biggest pimp ever and always will be. Even though he doesn't rap about much else, for some reason it never gets old listening to Short dog. Possibly because Ant Banks provides some of the funkiest beats, or maybe it's Too $hort's delivery and voice, but I will never get tired of listening to Too $hort. This album is his best, edging out Life is Too Short and Cocktails. It has the best production and Too $hort and company drop hot lyrics over the beats. Bay Area rap doesn't get much better.

5-0 out of 5 stars classic
i think Cocktails was his best CD, but this was definitely his most classic. Too Short is one of those rappers that can just pull a track off like no one else. If it was someone else rappin over these beats, theyd be kinda weak, but hes just Too Short, baby and hes dope ... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars MacQuarie Retail
Some thought it propitious to vacillate in an untoward fashion at the periphery of the lagniappe. But K&A know better. They're the ones who sliced off a piece of that responsory and took it home to their mommas. Ill advised, dudes. Now EVERYBODY wants a piece of it, too, and there's just not enough to keep 'em all happy. That's why I'm glad they've settled here on a nice little chrestomathy. It fits neatly in your pocket and doesn't make much noise (although it does tend to congeal into a gelid reticulum if you're not paying attention). ATTENTION MUST BE PAID, in this instance. Who would want it otherwise?

Kaplan would, I bet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Material
This is one of the finest debuts from the No Limit stable. Kane and Abel was virtually unheard of when they dropped this jaw dropping debut. Riding off the success of "Gangstified" this album sold just below Gold Status. This albums highlight are definitely "Gangstified", "Git 'N Paid", "3,2,Murder 1", and the eerie production of "Abortion". A true must have cd.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but a lot of PHAT songs!
This CD is obviously a must-have for any TRU NO LIMIT collector and I have it. But, I tug half way on all songs. Half of the album is THE BOMB and the other half is kind of a disappointment. The best songs are "3,2 Murder 1", "Gangstafied" and "Git'n Paid". But "God & Gunz" and "Abortion" are real poor tracks.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hella Tight
EVEN THOUGH THEIR ARE 11 SONGS I LIKE 8 OF THEM I THINK IT IS BETTER THEN AM I MY BROTHERS KEEPER (THEIR 2ND CD)GO GET IT IT'S HELLA TIGHT

4-0 out of 5 stars Needs more songs
Kane & Abel's debut wuz hella tight, but it needed more songs. The best songs are Black Jesus,3/2 Murder 1, and Abortion. The rest of the album iz tight too, but Gangstafied iz kinda weak. Buy it if you're a TRU No Limit fan or if U just like rap period. ... Read more
