4-0 out of 5 stars Good for what it is
After the last greatest hits compilation of Anthrax material, "Attack of the Killer A's", didn't go down so well with older fans of the band due to a surprising lack of older material, another compilation featuring only older material was pretty much a no brainer. "Madhouse: The Very Best of Anthrax" may be no more than a record company's attempt to cash in, but it does offer a fine selection of some of the band's best older material. Yes, "Ball of Confusion" isn't here, but we get "Antisocial", "Caught in a Mosh", "Indians", "I Am the Law", "Belly of the Beast", the uncensored version of "I'm the Man", and naturally "Bring the Noise". If you already own all of Anthrax's older albums, there is no point in owning this; however if your looking to get into the band, this along with "Attack of the Killer A's" is a good place to start.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a madhouse, or so they claim....
Next to "Attack Of The Killer B's", this is a great "Best Of" collection from the NYC thrashers. It includes some of their greatest songs from their early days (with Joey Belladonna and Dan Spitz), from the albums Spreading The Disease, Among The Living, Perception of Time, and others. All of the songs have been remastered and they all sound GREAT. I think this is a great CD to buy if you're just starting out on Anthrax, or want to hear what they sound like remastered. Yeah, it was released by Island, but so what? If you like bands in the vein of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, do yourself a favor and pick this one up. It's a good best-of from one of the most underrated bands in history. Recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not totally comprehensive, but...
I'm a huge Anthrax fan. Always have been. But I was kind of conflicted with this one. I knew that this CD was a big faceless corporate record label trying to cash in on a great band. But what did I do? I cracked and bought it.

Here's my approach: I accept the record for what it is. It's a compilation with a bunch of great songs on it. It may be missing "Ball of Confusion," as so many here have noted, but I'm thinking of what it does include.

It's got "I Am the Law," "Indians," and "Caught in a Mosh," from arguably one of the best metal recordings ever, "Among the Living." It also has the uncensored version of "I'm the Man," which I so enjoy. And probably my two favorite songs the band has done, "Antisocial" and "Belly of the Beast." And it's got that great cut with Public Enemy, "Bring the Noise."

I give it four stars because it's not officially licensed and it's not 100% comprehensive, so in theory it should be a three star recording, but the quality of the songs chosen warrant an extra star.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mosh Mother [truck]ers!!!!!!!!!!!
MOSH MOSH MOSH MOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is definatly the purpose behind this cd. Don't think of it as island's way to get spare change from old school thrashers. Instead think of this as the most kick @** Joey Belladonna Anthrax songs crammed into one cd for your moshing pleasure. But even though it's not that long as AOTKAs and doesn't contain "Ball of Confusion". It does contain "A.I.R."*, "Armed and Dangerous", "Caught in a mosh"*, "I'm The Man (the def uncensored version)", and more than one song from "Persistance of Time". In my opinion this cd contains THE BEST era Anthrax there is. But if you disagree get AOTKAs. I know I did and i'm happy both ways around.

3-0 out of 5 stars not complete
Madhouse is an attempt at a greatest hits album for anthrax but falls short because many of the bands greatest songs like antisocial and ball of confusion are missing. Try getting Attack of the Killer A's instead. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Different from other WBCN recordings
This CD is a good collection of new music recorded live in concert settings.

It does not have the diversified or acoustic "in the studio" flavor of past WBCN releases.

Good if you like the genre of harder alternative music. Not too good if you are looking for one of those good acoustic recordings of the artists' works.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Live Rock
this is a great album for you if you like live stuff, this album is full of the best live shows of 99/early 2000... this cd is made by my hometown radio station WBCN the rock revolution 104.1 boston! i luv the station and the cd, so if ur in need of sum great live stuff, by this album, you wont be dissapionted.....

4-0 out of 5 stars A reflection of '99 in live music
Of the 3 WBCN albums this is heavier and has more live concert performances- it reflects '99 well with songs by Korn, Limp B, 311, Blink 182, Kid Rock, Moby, and Everlast. The performances are more live shows vs. live studio like the other albums. There's not as much depth or complexity unearthed in the songs, but you get more raw energy- very different than Naked 1&2, but still good ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the GOOD bands to come out of Canada.
Slaves On Dope are another great band I had the pleasure of seeing at Ozzfest 2000. In my opinion, they had one of the standout performances. I got the Ozzfest Cd sampler with their song "Inches From the Mainline" on it. I played this song to death. So I patiently awaited their album. I just got the INCHES FROM THE MAINLINE today and I haven't gotten to fully listen to it yet. But what I've listened to rocked pretty hard. It hasn't disappointed me. I even got a ticket from the cops because I listened to it so loud in my car. The best songs I've heard so far are: "Inches From the Mainline" and "Leader of Losers". Slaves On Dope are another loud metal band to check out(along with Taproot or the Deadlights).

5-0 out of 5 stars Are you a [fan??]
SLAVES ON DOPE rock! These guys took their one of a kind rock to LA back a few years ago to show the states what Slaves On Dope are made of, and a deal from Divine (Ozzy's label) and a spot on the second stage of Ozzfest 2000 helped them do just that. They have recently toured with metal legends Soulfly and the new hard rock act, (hed)pe. Look for them on this years Sno-Core Tour.

Inches From The Mainline was released on Oct 3rd and hasn't stopped rocking. My favorite songs are I Can't Die, Thanks For Nothing, and Inches From The Mainline.

Do yourself a favor and see exactly why Ozzy signed them to his label. ....

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
...Now back to Inches. I love every song on this cd with the exeption of I Can't Die in which I give a 7/10. The rest of the cd is 20/10.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing short of: WOW!
Ok; I'll admit after hearing Hatebreed and Slipknot I lost all hope for the metal scene, but with acts like this Factory 81, early Nonpoint, Boy Hits Car, Unloco, Poison the Well, and Mudvayne, it seems like metal has reclaimed it's place on the shelf. At first listen it is a white water crash because you know not what to expect, but this is what brings you back. With Mike Pattonish rapping skills from Faith no More, and wicked "screaning" (sing screaming) like that of Daryl (Glassjaw) this band earned a place in my player, and probabably won't wear out. Great band. Check out the other bands I mentioned too. Easy listening.

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING
I am fairly new on the metal scene, with Nothingface, No One, Pantera, Slayer, Faith No More, American Head Charge ect. But I am huge fans of bands like RATM, Disturbed and Korn. Slaves on Dope takes those three bands to a whole new level and beyond. It is just such a damn amazing album. If you like those less hardcore bands like Disurbed, Korn and oldschool RATM and you are looking for the next level of music in that catagory THIS IS IT. Go out and BUY IT NOW, you can not go wrong here. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The edited version is worth buying
The edited version can be a welcome relief to those tired of the obscene lyrics trashing music these days, although I don't recommend telling the whole world that you bought the edited version. That is especially true onthis album, where the missing language does not prevent it from becomingone of the better albums in my large collection. What It's Like is a goodsong, but Hot To Death is the absolute best. The only bad thing is that hefreely advertises drug use, but if you can tolerate that, the album issimply great. Everlast's new single, Today, is definitely worth listeningto numerous times. Next Man is pretty good for a bonus track, and actuallysends a good message. Ends is also a good song, as is Tired. However, FunkyBeat is just that, nothing but a beat, and Death Comes Callin' is annoyingand depressing. The three phone conversations, which comprise three of theeighteen tracks, are also very annoying (the edited version fails to edit aword in one of them because it's so hard to understand, they're worthless). Otherwise, this is a good album.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everlast for prez!
Everlast is the best. What it's Like is the best song of all time, Ends is also very good.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good...but Not Great
Stomp 442 definitely showed that Anthrax had rediscovered thrash and consequently it packed one HEAVY punch. However, it lacks that certa9n something that makes a good album great. Sure, Random Acts of Senseless Violence, Fueled, Riding Shotgun, and Tester all shred, but overall it's not on the same level as SOWN, POT, and ATL. Anthrax clearly retained the thrash element of Stomp 442 and combined it with Sound of White Noise to produce the killer Volume 8: The Threat is Real. If you liked liked Anthrax back when they were thrashy, definitely pick this one up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD
Contrary to what all these reviews say, Stomp 442 is better than Sound of White Noise. It's still good though. Sure Stomp may not be the same calibur of "bang till you bleed" furiosity, but it's heavy in another way. I'm 16 and I absolutely hate nu-metal. Bands like Drowning Pool, Linkin Park, and No One sicken me. Anthrax takes a step towards the hard rock direction with Stomp. They perfect the sound. It took a while but I now love this CD. These new bands are a bunch of screaming and barely audible boring riffs. No talent to be found in those bands ladies and gents. This CD is a masterpiece. If you want thrash, then go buy Persistence of Time or Among the Living. If you like harder rock, then quit wastin time readin my review and go experience the listening pleasure yourself!

5-0 out of 5 stars darn good album!
From begining to end the album is fresh, fast, and has flow. The songs on the album have a unity which makes the track progression completely in sync. I didnt feel any of the songs were filler or forced in nature they all felt as though they belonged. My negatives about the album: the cover art is terrible which probably aided in the demise of the album sales, and some of the lyrics were mediocre. Aside from that the album is really good. How does it stack up against previous efforts? I think its one of their best however, I am not going to rank it with previous efforts because all of the bands albums seem to fit a different niche or tone. It gets 5 stars from me because I felt it was a complete album with a great payoff.

5-0 out of 5 stars MY PERSONAL FAV......
If We've Come For You All is half this good, It would blow me away. From beginning to end blistering riffs. "Tester" and "In a Zone" rule...

5-0 out of 5 stars Underrated Classic
Anthrax is my favorite band, so my opinion may be biased, but this is an underrated classic, probably because it goes in a much more aggressive direction than SOWN does. "In a Zone" and Drop the Ball" are two of the heaviest songs they have ever done. They alone are worth the price. "Nothing" is a melodic song in the vein of "Only". "Bare" is a nice ballad, but not up there with "Black Lodge". This album expands upon the sound they created with "Persistance of Time" by mixing churning, crunching riffs with melody lines that are much darker than those found on State of Euphoria. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A True Music Experience
This is the stuff!!!What an awesome production. If you really like to blast music 5.1 Digital and out your awesome surround sound system, this album is for you!!Incredibly rich and raw, incredible effects traveling around the speakers in my room, bass shuddering the walls, and my whole insides quivering with the rush that only Incubus can produce! This is really a completely different experience than just an audio CD in Dolby or something.Close your eyes and you'll think you're listening them jamming in your room. But if you just want that regular CD than the other side of the DVD contains the CD.

The DVD side has the whole album plus videos of Lollapalooza, Bridge Benefit, While We Were Out, and Brandon's Injury.A must have the music-experience-enthusiast and psychedelic journeyman!

5-0 out of 5 stars Incubus changes again, big surprise
While this contains the exact same special features as the special edition, it's still worth buying for the surround sound included on the DVD side. This is Incubus' much anticipated follow-up to 2001's Morning View. While not garnering especially high praises this is definitely a worthy follow up. Anybody that is trashing this CD probably hasn't given it a chance to prove itself. Only after a few listens will you truly appreciate the brilliance that is brought to the table here. The production isn't polished at all, it's very raw. So much so that you can actually hear hand claps in a few songs. Personally, I think this unpolished side of Incubus is nice, I like it a lot.

With this release Incubus has matured even more than they let on in Morning View. You really wouldn't guess it with songs like Smile Lines and Leech though. Those two songs strike me as classic Incubus (though I realize I might be the only one that thinks that). Songs like Beware! Criminal, Agoraphobia, Zee Deveel, and Talk Shows On Mute strike me as different to Incubus' style. These songs lyrically are extremely strong but when first listening to them they seem stale, like they shouldn't be included on this CD. But over time I am willing to guarantee that at least one of the aformentioned songs will be one of your favorites. Every song on here has something special about it, Sick Sad Little World being the odvious stand-out with it's tremendous guitar solo. Not enough good things can be said about Mike's guitar work, it is incredible on this CD, though it doesn't seem to be getting the response I would think it should be getting. He experiments more with his pedals and style of playing more on this release than Morning View and even Make Yourself. You can tell this by listening to the solos on Sick Sad Little World and Priceless in particular. Brandon also kicks it up a notch and delivers vocally his best offering so far, and he uses his voice well too. As always Kilmore's turntables create an atmosphere to the music while never really busting out. Jose is at the top of his game on this release too, he seems to deviate from his treaded path and tries something new with this CD. And the new addition, Ben Kenney, fits in very nicely with the crew. While the bass isn't as prominent as it once was, it is very good nonetheless.

The DVD side is, much to my surprise edited, at least the one I got was. But other than that it's very entertaining with it's four live performances--Pistola, Megalomaniac, A Crow Left Of The Murder, and Talk Shows On Mute. The While We Were Out featurette is very funny as is with all Incubus behind the scenes footage though. I particularly liked the part where Jose talks about his new car, histerically funny. And of course Brandon's Injury. This is the part that is edited, which bugs me because I love hearing the way Brandon curses here. Also, if you have surround sound speakers wired to your DVD player than you are in for a treat, the CD sounds phenominal.

A couple of my favorite songs on here are Megalomaniac, Beware! Criminal, Zee Deveel, and Made For TV Movie. Anybody who truly appreciates Incubus' music will definitely seek refuge in this CD. It's got a bit of everything in it, so enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoy Incubus!
'A Crow Left of the Murder' may have only taken five weeks to complete in the studio, but it sounds so good, you wont even notice it. I was actually kind of suprised by this album. I didnt expect it to be this good. You may have read some negative reviews saying stuff like 'Its dissapointing' or 'Its no 'Make Yourself'. Its NOT dissapointing. Its also not just another Make Yourself, no, its its own record. The first two times I listened to it I didnt think it was very amazing. But around the third time, I thought it was really good. Plus, you can even plant a tree in the Incubus garden. Incubus is growing enough trees to replace all the trees they used by creating this album. It tells you how to plant a tree and the info in the booklet. This is also one of the rare cds where the free DVD included is actually good. I like all the features on the DVD. I would reccomend that Incubus fans buy this cd. Enjoy Incubus!

Well anyway, thats my same review from last February, (yep, in 2004). Why did I simply just copy paste it? Because this cd is the same damn thing as that version! Even the other side of the dual disc the same. I wouldent reccomend buying it twice, even if you are a hardcore fan of the band. For those who havent purchased it yet, though, then be my guest. Great album. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I don't know what band that is, but it's not Anthrax
Man, most bands have got weird sounding debuts, but Anthrax really takes it to another level. This is nothing like 'Spreading the Disease', even though it was only a year earlier, and has very little thrash in it.This is pretty much pure speed metal from beginning to end, mostly Judas Priest worship type stuff. It's pretty entertaining, though certainly not all that hot, so I only really recommend this to very, very serious Anthrax fans.If it weren't a historic curiosity, 'Fistful of Metal' would still be kinda amusing, but not enough so to make it worth having.Same goes with the 'Armed & Dangerous' ep, which comes along with it.

'Fistful of Metal' has probably the crappiest production I've ever heard on a metal album outside of Black Metal. Not very loud, lots a static at times, no real depth or thickness.Too bad they didn't remaster it.Turbin is quite an amusing vocalist. He's about as over the top as they come, with a rather unbelievable amount of shrieking. As with most of this album, he's fairly entertaining, if not exactly very good.Everything on 'Fistful' sounds pretty much the same, with the exception of the cover, 'Eighteen', which still has much the same tone and feeling, it's just slower, mid-paced hard rock rather than speed metal. The songs they'd later do for 'Greater of Two Evils' are the best ones here.'Death Rider' and 'Metal Thrashing Mad' are both total stompers, lots of fun and energy, and 'Panic' isn't too far off, with a particularly nice little lead section.Everything else on here at least sounds pretty good while it's on, even if it isn't all that memorable.

'Armed & Dangerous' hasn't got much new material, but it's still kinda interesting. The title track is the same as on 'Spreading...' and other than that we've got a buncha Turbin songs with Joey on the vox, a song called 'Raise Hell' and a cover of 'God Save the Queen'.The re-done Tubin songs are pretty decent.Live in the studio, but they actually tend to have better production than on the debut, and Joey does some shriekier, vox than he'd typical do, kinda mixing his own style with Turbin's.'Raise Hell' is kinda blah, just sorta a more primitive version of the stuff they'd do on the next album. It's alright, but not up to Anthrax's standards.I've never been a Sex Pistols fan, so the 'God Save the Queen' cover doesn't interest me too much, though it is pretty funny to hear Joey try and sing a punk song.

Well, that's it.Not very good, but still sorta fun and interesting, and worth a look for serious Anthrax fans.No one else need bother with it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Proceed with caution
I have to admit that I was overly excited about this re-issue.I was very pleased with the updated versions of old-school Anthrax on The Greater of Two Evils.I was hoping for improved sound quality and an extra or two from this release (expanded liner notes, improved sound, unreleased demos, etc.).In a perfect world, Megaforce would have followed the same format as Megadeth's Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good (if you are reading this review, you should already have this).

Unfortunately, you simply get the first two Anthrax albums on one CD.There are some brief comments from each member of Anthrax at the time, with the exception of Frankie Bello (he must still be pissed off at the boys).I was mildly surprised to see comments from Danny Lilker, Neil Turbin and Joey Belladonna. But that's it.You don't even have the lyrics that were included in the original release of Armed And Dangerous.I really shouldn't feel cheated because there is no mention of re-mastering or the inclusion of any extras. It just leaves me wondering why this package was released at all.The original two CD's are still available. If you expect me to shell out a few bucks for re-released material you need to throw me a bone and give me something extra. If you already own these albums you can skip this release.

If you don't already have these albums, then this is a good deal. You can get two decent Anthrax albums on one disc for a good price. This material is worth owning if you are an Anthrax fan.I suggest you read the reviews for the individual albums, there isn't anything new here.

2-0 out of 5 stars WHAT HAPPENED TO 4 SONGS?
The new release of CARNIVAL CHRISMAS does include "Santa's a Fat Bxtch" and "Red Chrismas", but they left out "Santa Killers" and "He's Coming". ICP gets props though!

4-0 out of 5 stars Silent Night...Violent Fight
This single is short but sweet. Its usually cheap too, so I say its worth the price. Now, I know these tracks are already featured on Forgotten Freshness volumes 1 & 2, and the original Carnival X-Mas ep, but if your a collector, which you problably are since your reading this, you will want this in your collection. I would recommend the original but it isn't very easy to find these days since its basically out of print but you can catch them on the webstore(if your lucky).
'Santa's A Fat Bxtch' is the bomb diggity, a humorous track but a classic. When I say classic, I mean old school "I remember those days..." classic. It serves as a good song to sing when you and your homies are bored or whatever.
'Red Christmas' is the last track and is fatter then your mother. Hehe just playing. This song is phat though, its a good track but nothing outstanding.
My words of advice are to buy this or get buyed. Foe real.

The worst of ICP I'd say. It's rare though, so it's straight. Annoying in a way, but good for the x-mas season. Only for Juggalo's.

2-0 out of 5 stars I'LL EAT YOU ALIVE!!!!! (I'll eat you alive!)
Haha! Wan't a nice, tasty meal in the morning, afternoon or at night? Well, this song will help you decide which to eat, which is EAT YOU ALIVE!!!!!!! Mmmmmmm tasty!!! Nah i'm just playing around (although I do like eating...). I think that this isn't a great song and Limp Bizkit'z 'Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water' was really flawed. It was not very good. 3 Dolla Bill Y'all and Significant Other were much better. 'Results May Vary', their new album is now out but I don't know if its good or not. I probably won't buy it though. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Mirror Mirror on the wall...
This is so far my favorite album by the duo Twiztid. Mirror Mirror is an EP but I think it has an album's worth of material. It starts off with one of my favorite intros of my music collection, "Mirror". Its a dark intro which he swears at the people who have wronged him and he lets them know, from girlfriends to past employers, he gives the big F You to them all. The track "4 Thoze Of You" features label-mate Blaze Ya Dead Homie and they destroy the mic with their dope spits and and awesome beats to go with it. "Dirty Lil Girl" is a nasty song about a girl Jamie and Monoxide sleep with and lets them know thats all their worth. It has a softer beat and sing-like lyrics about being with women who are only worth a one night stand. "The World" is a dope track about the hatred Twiztid share of the world and how it can't get any worse. "Alone" is a creepy song which begins with a dope interlude about being addicted to flesh. Its a song about how you think your alone but you never are, weither your surrounded by God or evilness or whatever else. The end track, "Your The Reazon" is a dedication to the Juggalos which Twiztid love and are dedicated themselves too.It shares their love for their now juggalo-infested life and how they are grateful for them that they are actually still alive and not dead or whatever, hence the title Your The Reazon. This is my favorite album by Twiztid so far and I recommend this CD over their previous releases...

1.Mirror----A kick ass first track. Sets the tone.

2. Reflection---Great song..Even better live. Starts the album off freshly.

3. World---Great track. The chorus is sooo cool.

4. 4 Thoze of U----Blaze and Twiztid.nUFF said

5. Through Your Eyez--THE best song on the album.

6. Whatz That!?!---Im not a big fan of this song. Due to the music itself.

7. Leff Field---A great first Monoxide solo,Ft Violent J

8. Dirty Lil Girl----Funny as hell..Typical twiztid sex song.

9. CNT---This song is actually inspiring. Like Blaze said in the intro...Pay attention to the lyrics.

10. Alone--This song could have made it on Freek show also.

11. Your the Reazon---A great Juggalo appreciation song.

4-0 out of 5 stars testify reveiw
This is a great single.
The first remix of testify is really good, with differant music.
The rownena project remix is good.
The two live track's are awsome.
I have all ther albums but this was still worth getting.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent single.
RATM knows how to make singles. The great first track from "The Battle Of Los Angeles", "Testify", is the highlight, with two great remixes complementing it. The first mix, the Testifly Mix, has a nice drum beat that is reminiscent of Brad Wilk's drumming in Evil Empire. The second mix, the Rowena Projects Mix, has a heavy techno influence that would violate RATM's commitment to "all sounds produced by guitars, vocals, drums", but nevertheless, I like it. The single also has awesome live versions of "Guerrilla Radio" and "Freedom". It's worth getting even if you already own "The Battle Of Los Angeles".

4-0 out of 5 stars Testify
Darn it! Is it me, or does Rage Against the Machine put out the best singles? I have Battle of LA, and I like Testify and Guerillia Radio. I can only imagine how much money Rage rakes in with these awsome singles. I wish they would just make longer, limited Ep's or something. This is awsome, but Rage should take example of Incubus and make a limited, worthy Ep.

5-0 out of 5 stars good single, great song.
Testify is one of my personal favorite rage songs. This single has the studio version plus two remixes of the song Testify. It also has two live tracks, also found on the Sleep Now in the Fire singles. The two remixes are prettty good and the two live tracks are really good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this tape Bad!
I have always been a big fan of rock and a bigger fan of reggae and rap. So imaging my delight when I discovered 311!! I was hooked when I heard "Beutiful Disaster" and "Transistor" The thing is that I heard this album first. I went and researched 311 and came up on the self-titled album.. I heard "Purpose" and fell in love. I recommend this album highly, for those who follw each of the genres mentioned above you'll love these rude boys from Omaha, Nebraska!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME CD!
The only reason I knocked off a star is cause this one's edited. I hate that. The regular one is an easy 5 stars! It's full of cool reggae beats not to mention funky rapping! It's like a cross between the Beastie Boys and the Red Hot Chili Peppers! Throw in a little bit of Sublime and you've got a KILLER CD! ... Read more

When "Down" shot up the singles charts in 1996, it was the culmination of eight years of hard work for Nebraska-bred, Los Angeles-based 311. Soundsystem ups the ante on the quintet's good-time, never-forced amalgam of hip-hop, rock, funk, and reggae. "Come Original" features Nick Hexum's identifiable talk-singing style, and the tune's lilting dancehall and reggae overtones make it perfect for convertible cruising. From the odd but compelling rhythms in "Freeze Time," to the Santana-influenced stylings and Tim Mahoney'sintricate guitar work in "Life's Not a Race," to the almost metallic riffing of "Evolution," 311 have constructed a diverse yet cohesive collection. The band's crisp, edgy sound, well showcased by producer Hugh Padgam (XTC, the Police), is especially winning on the irresistible and rollicking "Mindspin" and the aggro closing cut, "Livin' & Rockin'." It's a good bet that this Soundsystem will find its way onto the sound systems of fans old and new. --Katherine Turman ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great album
311's diversity and musical ability is unsurpassed. This album proves it.My favorite tracks are Evolution, Freeze Time, Can't Fade Me, and Livin' & Rockin'.All the songs are good though.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best ear-candy available
Soundsystem is the first 311 cd I bought and it was the best investment I have ever made! If you are starting to look into 311, get their music! Even though I only jumped on the 311 "bandwagon" with the song "Come Original" I still consider myself a die-hard 311 fan. This cd is unbeatable and there is absolutely no competition for this band! I can't even begin to tell you how amazing Tim and P-nut are on guitar and bass and the perfect way that Nick and SA's voices blend together. The drummer chad is just as amazing! Every single song on soundsystem is perfectly mastered! The only thing is that I prefer edited cd's (but I don't have the edited soundsytem)so the last song is a little much for me, but other than that, there really is hardly any swearing on it. I would name my favorite song, but I don't really have one because they are all so awesome; although I do prefer come original because that is the song that got me to love 311. If you don't have this cd yet, I am not suggesting, but telling you to go out and buy this cd as soon as you can because you don't know what you're missing--music that is fun to rock to, head-band to, dance to, and just to listen to! Go buy it now!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is ONE OF THEIR BEST
My first 311 cd i listened to was Grassroots. That cd immediately turned into 311 forever.Since then i have converted three die-hard 311 haters into fans. After 'roots, 311 never dissappointed me.Soundsystem is thebest follow after grassroots. The different style they have on every cd isamazing, and soundsystem style could be the best.GET THIS CD! Songs 4-9are best six songs in a row on any 311 cd.

Brian Robbins's film--starring David Arquette, Rose McGowan, and Oliver Platt--about the surreal world of professional wrestling features the adrenaline-pumping soundtrack you'd expect: Kid Rock, Motley Crue, the Offspring, even Run-DMC all make an appearance. No ballads need apply. By including music "inspired" by the motion picture as well as music actually from the film, the soundtrack pumps up to 13 tracks. Twisted Sister's mid-1980s rebellion anthem "We're Not Gonna Take It" is closely replicated by Bif Naked, while DJ Hurricane, featuring Stone Temple Pilots' singer Scott Weiland, cut, paste, and reinterpret Queen's mid-1970s anthem "We Will Rock You" into a disjointed jam. For humor's sake, Ahmet and Dweezil Zappa try their hand at Britney Spears's "...Baby One More Time," giving it a guitar-heavy translation. Kid Rock's "Bawitdaba" is retooled by Josh Abraham for the "Lower Than You" remix. The album is essentially one long body slam. --Rob O'Connor ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It Is The Best.!!!
I Like All The Songs. I Like Bawitdaba, Jump Around, We Will Rock You, Last Resort, And Baby One More Time The Best.!!! I Like Them The Best Because They Are The Best Songs.!!! I Don't Like King Of Rock. I Don't Like That Because I Is Not Good.!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars R2R Review
This CD is awesome, I bought it the first day it came out because I saw the film and immediately I wanted the soundtrack. The best songs are "We're Not Gonna Take It", "Bawitdaba (Lower Than You Remix)", and "Last Resort." But the worst song was the first one, "Get Ready", the beginning was cool with Michael Buffer doing the intro but it was all downhill from there, the best part about the song is when it gets to the chorus. I like what they did to make sure that people knew that this was a *wrestling movie* soundtrack by putting remixes of the Diamond Dallas Page and Sting themes on it. Also, I enjoyed listening to The "...Baby One More Time" song, although the original is way better Ahmet and Dweezil Zappa did a cool version. I recommend this CD to any fan of the movie or just a fan of great music.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Mix of Music
If you are looking for a good mix of music, check this CD out. It has everything from The Offspring to the Zappa brothers. Bif Naked does a great rendition of "We're Not Gonna Take It", but the remix of "Bawitdaba" leaves a lot to be desired. "Bloodstains" by The Offspring, "Last Resort" by Papa Roach, and "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Motley Crue more than make up for Amhet & Dweezil Zappa's rendition of "Baby One More Time" and "We Will Rock You" by DJ Hurricane & Scott Weiland. "Baby On More Time" was bad to begin with, and "We Will Rock You" should have Queen up in arms. All in all, this is a good CD for a mix of old and new music. 3 stars!

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS CD WILL DEFINITELY BLINDSIDE YOU
blindside is in the top five hardcore bands around today...CHRISTIAN or secular.this cd is a classic, their new cd A THOUGHT CRUSHED MY MIND can't hold a candle to this cd.i can listen to this cd all the way through, everytime i put it in my cd player.all of the tracks are awesome, songs SUPERMAN,NERVE,INVERT,TEDDY BEAR...those are just the ones that are the most catchy, all of these songs are awesome.the big thing about this cd is they used the perfect mix of the melodic singing and emotional screaming along with some very hard core gits and bass, and wound it into a tapestry of hardcore music that in my eyes,is a must buy for any hardcore fan.the big problem with their new cd A THOUGHT CRUSHED MY MIND is the lead singer,i think his name is Christian, screams out the songs not for just a part of the song, the entire song it is relentless, their new cd makes their old one just look better.this hardcore is definitely my fav.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hardcore Rock n' Roll
This is close to the most perfect alterna-core CD you will ever find anywhere. If you think Limp Bizkit is cool you will be blown away. Blindside is so much better it isn't even funny. The opening song "Invert" went right to #1! I was lucky to get one of the first copies of this CD in my area because it sold like gold. The music ranges but mostly it is some strong hardcore guitars and some totally cool screaming. The drums are kind of in the vein of "rap-core." The songs, "Nerve," "One Mind," and "Superman" all made it to the top ten. If you don't believe what I have to say, check it out for yourself, you cannot be disappointed with this release. And as Christian(vocals) says, "Let's rock and roll!"

5-0 out of 5 stars This cd is Awesome
This cd blow me away... it is awesome! I love the teddy bear song, plus there is no hardcore CHRISTIAN band like them. I love this cd and there other cd are even better "About a Burning Fire" is there newest cd, it is really good. Plus there "Silence" cd is awesome! I not to crazy about there "A Thought Crushed My Mind" cd, but it's good. :-)

I would recommend that if you like hardcore music you should get this cd...

4-0 out of 5 stars Not There Best But Still Great
Blindside is one of my favorite bands and I love all of there cd's. On this on they sound like a Metal Ska band. They have great lyrics and all but I dont believe this is there best cd. Scilence is highly reccomended!

1-0 out of 5 stars NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!
Ok; one of the most innovative current heavy acts in the mainstream today used to be finding their feet: this was then. Don't dwell on it. I got this cd expecting to be blown away, but instead I hear a wannabe early Incubus/Mr. Bungle/Slipknot audio-crap. Ugh. This band is good, but I don't reccomend you befile your ears with this pseudo-early band trying to sound like a mixture of the current acts of the time (some may include revolutionary Swedish brother band Refused). Don't bother with this unless you like Disturbed or some crap like that. Good band, but if I were them I'd take this album lock it up and throw away the key. ... Read more

I WAS NOT A TOMMY FAN, BUT MY OPINION CHANGED WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CD. DUDE IS AN AWESOME MUSICIAN AND HE CAN ACTUALLY RAP. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tommy Who?
Cool Cd! At first I thought how could he but after a couple of spins I dug it. If Motley's last release is any indication of the future i'll stick with Tommy. Keep the guitars rockin' like Crash and I see a winner. Less rap more Rock man!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD
This CD is one of the best I have ever heard. It is a mix of some rap lyrics and excellent heavy guitars. The best songs are hypocritical, anger managment, get naked, new skin, crash and metamorphasis. Get this CD because you are missing out if you don't.

1-0 out of 5 stars Why Tommy Why?
One of metal greatest drummers, becomes a trendy Nu-Metaller, how sad. Hold out for the new Crue, forget this rap/metal/garbage hybrid!

4-0 out of 5 stars early peppers '84 - '89
I really recommend what hits ?! instead. Because every song appears there anyway. This is a collection of peppers in the 80's. But I wouldn't put here songs from the mother's milk album. Because John Frusciante is on guitar, and Chad Smith on drums. That's the latest line-up. I would erase the 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 9th tracks. And then I would put here more songs from the Hillel slovak era. This is the list of songs ('84-'87) I would put here.

True men don't kill coyotes
Hollywood ( Africa )

If you want me to stay
Catholic school girls rule
Fire
Fight like a brave
Special secret song inside
Mommy where's daddy
Behind the sun
Yertle the turtle
Nevermind
Me & my friends

Get "What Hits ?!" instead. But if you're a die-hard fan, and you must have everything, you'll spend your money for it anyway.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good album
This album has some of their best old songs and is pretty good. It has a great price too. If you want a great hits album spend 2 extra bucks and get what hits? , which has double the songs of this and is a hell of a lot better.

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
this is one of the chilli pepper's better albums. it has a lot of they're old school rap/funk kind of stuff. its really different from theyre newer stuff. it also includes one song that i thought was just great to hear the red hot chilli peppers do a cover of - "fire" by jimmi hendrix

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a good album, but it's not so complete as it could be.
The album could be better if it contained more songs, because there are many other great songs for an album of "The best of" and it's not only my opinion. The real fans of the Chili Peppers know that!!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best band
while this is not their ofical hits album(what hits?!)it's still a good album for those wanting a taste of the peppers and it's cheaper too!!!! ----jason harshman ... Read more
