5-0 out of 5 stars Drum and Bass for Dummies.
For the average consumer, picking the right drum-and-bass compilation is as risk-free as a game of Russian Roulette. Among the CDs that keep crowding record store bins, there are the quality sets and their shoddily-assembled imitators. But for those who want to introduce themselves to the genre should consider "Bass in Your Face," which features remixes of tracks from artists familiar to the average Joe Schmo. Nervous beats and a memorable bassline revamp Missy Elliott's "The Rain," while rubbery bass glides through Busta Rhymes' radically transformed "Dangerous." En Vogue get the drum-and-bass makeover on the Babyface-penned "Whatever," and the disc's best moment is Armand Van Helden's dynamic re-working of Aaliyah's "One in a Million." Those already familiar to the genre may stick with other releases for advanced students in the drum-and-bass school, but this disc is a worthy consideration for those looking for a good introduction that doesn't have that cheesy "Totally Dance" aftertaste.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is definitely D & B..
Actually Mickey Finn, Aphrodite, Dillinja, Natural Born Chillers, Lemon D, Dream Team (Bizzy B & Pugwash), Breakbeat Science, and 4 Hero are all Drum & Bass artists, so this easily and most definitely qualifies as a D & B CD. Some of the tracks are excellent, such as The Rain and Me or the Papas..

4-0 out of 5 stars This is Bass, not Drum & Bass
This is a great CD filled with Bass for your subwoofers in your car, but it is not Drum & Bass. It has lots of really great remixes which I love. Lots of drop beats, and low lows for chest shaking sounds... but no Jungle style Drum & Bass. Buy this one for your car if you've got subs in the trunk!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Cool CD especially those with varied taste
I am a huge drum & bass fan. And most everything else for that matter. I think the cd is awesome, and is a superb blend of 2 cool genres. For those who think that rap and techno can not blend should hear stuff by propperheads, archive, and roni size just so they can know how wrong they are. Dilinja's remix of me or the papes is incredible

3-0 out of 5 stars saving grace
all right, i'll agree with DMBassfan305 as to the fact that the two genres of bass and hip hop are different from each other in a very definite way, but jeru the damaja's "me or the papes" (dillinja remix) is an incredible song in a strange sense, and so redeems the album somewhat. as a drum n bass fan, though, i have to say that the mix presented here should be kept seperate. this is one of those "could be better, could be worse" kinda things. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT BASS CD, not like other corny bass cds
not only is this the excellent bass cd around, it has very good dance mixes. I bought this cd back in 94, and man, its awesome, play on your home stereo, you will see what i mean.

This is not just a big bass cd, its the mostly sub bass tunes, that you can just chill to, and whatever you feel like my friend. this is both bass and cool music. Excellent Variety of slow, fast, chillin, lyrical, techno, and clubbin tunes.

Get it Now. Dont delay.

PS - There was a 2nd best of techno bass, i wasnt really fond of that one. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Unmissable BASS classic!
I just had to review this, given that no one has taken the bait... "You remember the saying - more bounce to the ounce!" MIAMI BASS WARS II is one of THE best cruin' around town bass cd's you could hope to own. Only the stunning TECHMASTER P.E.B. Bass Computer offers such consistant song quality (having only one stinker "3. Shady") That said, MBW is primarily instrumental with vocals, samples and some rap served over heaps of warm, juicy bass tones. The political and cultural overtones make for an interesting and refreshing change of pace from the typical "How low can you go?" gaggle of would be competitors. MBW calls for a fairly modest investment in equipment. Having heard this cd on a number of car stereos, MBW sounds best when the bass is powered to a pair of 12" woofers. Bandpass and 10 inch speakers don't seem to reproduce the music as solidly. Factory car stereos and speakers need not apply as they cannot handle the demand. Any serious Bass buff should own this classic cd!"Up and down Killeen for a couple of hours - took a wrong turn ended up at Fort Hood towers - my BASS was loud - I drew a crowd - MP's were coming down - handcuffs and me aint never been friends - headed back to Killeen so I could BASS again! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Representative of L.A. Club Rap Style
Delicious Vinyl's newest album, "Prime Cuts", is a very eloquently remixed version of a well-known style often seen in underground freestyle clubs, mainly in L.A. and surrounding areas. Many names, who use similar styles popped into my head, most of whom remained in the underground market, when I heard this album. It originally came in as a "promo" to a record store I manage. Delicious Vinyl does mix in a very unique style of R&B to its rapping style that also touched on soul. Although not a completely original and "new beat", these artists definitely have a wonderful and well known talent for mixing better known beats of many different genres, arriving at a piece that can be appreciated from many different musical perspectives. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Need it badly
This is the coolest album on bass music ever. It's booming is extraordinary. I first had it on cassette but someone took it from me without my authorization. My bass weights a ton and Uh uno tres four are the two hits that I think categorize this album as a blasting number one. I hope I can get it soon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth EVERY penny!!! A MUST BUY!!!!
This is THE original bass classic! Including great scratch mixes and tons of samples like Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Elmer Fudd, Cheech & Chong, Star Wars, and SO many others you may not be able to count `em all. You can even learn where Rob Base [got] his background music for "It Takes 2 To Make A Thing Go Right". My buddies and I used to cruise around on weekends back in 1989 & 1990 listening and singing to this album, and you know what, just last week(...), we went to the shore and STILL remembered EVERY word! You'll spend hours, if not days, listening to this trying to pick out the samples and funny lines and figure where or who they came from. And, it's also family-friendly stuff that you won't be ashamed to let your kids hear, because there's NO SWEARING. All in all a GREAT album to own, even if you hate rap, you'll probably find it REALLY funny! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars My first exposure and I'm hooked!
I don't even listen to hip-hop or rap or BASS or techno-whatever as a rule, but this, my first exposure to the genre, is very entertaining. I've never written a music review and it's probably apparent that I lack the vocabulary to properly categorize and describe this CD, but I am compelled to encourage others to listen to it - it's so special. It really has me looking for more of the same, but as yet, I haven't come close. Almost entirely instrumental, I find it makes no demands on the listener, instead offering an environment or aural space in which to escape. The bass octaves are thoroughly explored, but in a way that's definitely more musical than percussive. It's very stimulating, but not at all offensive or unpalatable. I hope I don't do it a disservice to say this, but it's the best elevator music I've ever heard! Surely it will appeal to a broad audience. I'm a 42 year old redneck computer programmer and family man, but I can't imagine my appreciation for this music being any less zealous than that of the legions of boombox barrio youth this stuff typically attracts. Try it!
