4-0 out of 5 stars A rapper that actually had TALENT
It's amazing to think anyone would not recognize Marvin Young (Young MC) as the pre-eminent technical rapper of his day. His rhymes flowed easier, but with more technical skill than any other rapper. And he created these masterworks of lyrical ability within the context of songs that DIDN'T fall prey to the "gangsta" mentality or the misogynistic tendencies of most rappers.

Make no mistake, there is a reason this CD is still in print, 10+ years after the fact. You'll be humming these songs for weeks. It's just a shame that "Brainstorm", his 2nd album, isn't still in print, as it is also a standout effort from that time period. Intelligence, ability, and integrity make this one a Hall-of-Fame rap album.

4-0 out of 5 stars Young MC, enough said
To anyone out there who doesn't respect Young MC as an artist should throw away any rap/hip-hop/r&b cd they own. Because if it wasn't for pioneers like Marvin Young your cds would not exist in the same form. You may not like his music or whatever but please give him props and realize what he has done for the game(along with many others). Also do not try to put this cd in the same discussion as Vanilla Ice or Hammer or any other 5-Min fames. I will admit Bust a Move is just a party booty shaker. but Young MC is on a different level then that wack pack. It defines the parameters of classic hip hop. Stone Cold Rhymin was about music, beats & rhymes, not clothing lines and mindless gun toting jargon of today. Most rap videos and cds today are a basically commercials for other (...) like Cris, big rims, and other corporate money makers. (But I think most of us real listeners have been well aware of the downfall of hip hop for years, unfortunately.) I have listened to this album first in cassette form when i was 9, & still today in mp3 form at 22. Enough with my rant, most of the tracks are ill except one, the song "just say no" sounds like Ron Reagen payed him to make it, just ignore that track. The cut "Non Stop" is one of the dopest of all time, period. A sick beat goes with classic lyrics that have been cliched every day since the biters heard it first from Young. Don't play this at your next house party, skip those tracks and actually listen to the deeper cuts and you will be surprised. Whats the kicker is that this album has been around for at least 14 years, with little or no recognition except "bust a move" on a few tv party cds. Bottom-line, if your in to 50 Cent, Cash Money sisters, (...) Z, Lil John, etc you probably live in the suburbs and just wouldn't understand real music like Stone Cold Rhymin and probably don't deserve to. Buy this album and listen to these hidden classics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Def
If I remember correctly, Young MC was an economics major at USC. He uses some economic and political phrases in his raps, which are a bit banal by today's crass standards. The way he brags so clean almost makes it seem like he's running for President. The beats are light (lyte?) and smooth, and Young MC is quick and likeable. Also, I think Young MC wrote some of Tone Loc's songs. This cd is a lighter, quicker version of that laid back Southern California thang... When rap had to be more pop to hit the charts... and white boys in Pasadena were just starting to crank rap from their cars.... Overall, clean rap with an excellent flow and clever lyrics. And IMHO, Young MC is much, much better than anything Will Smith did back in the day. Young MC is on par with others of the day: Tone Loc, Big Daddy Kane, and not quite up to Kool Moe Dee and early LL Cool J. (minor sidenote: "My Name is Young" has faster beats on the CD version than my worn out tape... the tape version seems better).

4-0 out of 5 stars A long forgotten classic
Just purchased this CD not too long ago and haven't stopped listening to it yet. A terrific blend of raps of varying speeds and techniques. Young MC was most well-known for "bust a move," but the rest of this album shines as well, including track 7, "know how," and scores of others equally. 13-14 years after it's release, Stone Cold Rhymin' should be a part of any collector's ensemble of great rap CDs.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the best rap albums of the 80s
In a time when rap was just beginning to crossover into the mainstream, Young MC came along and assisted in bridging that gap with Stone Cold Rhymin'. "Bust a Move" is the obvious choice for the best song here, but Young shows a lot of ability in his delivery and lyrical talent throughout the album. "Know How" and "I Come Off" show the extent of this ability. Young displays his humor on "Principal's Office" and the lighthearted "Roll With the Punches." The only reason for the 4 star rating comes at the end, with the decent yet surprisingly mediocre "Stone Cold Buggin" and "Just Say No." Yet, in the long run, all of the other tracks stand the test of time, whicxh makes this a truly great album. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars One beloved practise song for my celloplaying.
I'm afraid that I do not exactly have this maxi-single (I only have the original-version and some sh*t called "Morello Mix" on my CD), but I still think that this is absolutley great. I would love to hear the instrumental one, and maybe I'll do that some day. Until then I can live with the fact that Puff Daddy, Jimmy Page and the NBC Enterprices Symphony Orchestra is a wonderful combination.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great blend of several popular musical styles
No, "Come With Me" is not the first time that elements of pop, rock, and classical music have joined forces. The rock opera "Tommy" as well as the music of The Beatles and other groups of the 60's and 70's incorporated varying genres to critical and commercial success. But, this song added the element of rap and the result is a stunning musical accomplishment.

Sadly, it didn't achieve the success that Puff Daddy (and his record label) desired. However, the artist can be credited with releasing one of the more innovative rap tracks to emerge in the 90's.

Not bad for a song featured in film about an oversized iguana!

1-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Music.
Puff Daddy is the God of Pop music. There is such poetic genius behind his lyrics (i.e. "I wanna fight you, i wanna bite you, can' t stand nobody like you."). This man is on his way, he's going to the top. Props to Puff Daddy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Song
I was reading the review of the person who wrote "He should of got shot with his fat friend biggie" and I think that who ever wrote that has way too much time on their hands and who has to write something stupid on a review about a group who made a dumb song sound a lot better.

1-0 out of 5 stars This song is so wack...
This semi-cover of the Public Enemy original is so bad it's ridiculous. The beat is bad, the rhymes are bad: "That's that ish right there/Whom shall I fear/Throw your guns in the air." And let's not forget the clean version: "That's that hit right there/Whom shall I fear/Throw your hands in the air." And I don't know what Hurricane G is even doing there. All she's doing is talking and she still sounds worse than Puffy. By the way, what's up with that video? He goes from a black/lighted stage to a Southern Fried Chicken stand, to wearing furs in a moving chair. But the funny thing is, this is actually one of the BETTER songs off that horrendous album Forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!
I never heard so awsome and cool then this song. The english version is good, but the rock mix is even more better. Rap freaks, even rock freaks(like me) loves this CD. I'm tellin you, this is a MUST BUY!!!! ... Read more

This cd has a few good songs on it. But I am disappointed cuz the versions of Angel on this album are not the one I wanted. The versions featured aren't bad but if you want the one with the guy rappin you'll be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars fabolous
to the person that said the song makes them cringe if you have seen the video at the end the song is actually made for her brothers that was killed in gang related activities that shows how much you actually know about the song she is a great singer and is sending a good message without all the cussing.

5-0 out of 5 stars angel
i really like this song cause it really inspires me alot it has got me through alot and it is very nice cd

1-0 out of 5 stars Are you kidding?
Who signed this chick? I hear the song on the radio and CRINGE! For the song 'Angel', the lyrics, vocal stylings, and song itself are all so cliché and juvenile. The whole, "Hi I'm a hard core female gangsta, but I cry because I want my man back" ... is SO old. It's 2003, not 1990. Unless you're a 12 year old, heartbroken teenager, the song ...!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice SINGLE
Well I bought the EDITED VERSION of HARLEM WORLD and was mildly impressed by his music. I hadn't been buying much rap music around that time, so I was under the impression that MASE was a good rapper. When I introduced myself to real satisfying Hip- Hop like MISSY ELLIOT and JAY-Z, I realized that MASE was probably one of my least favorite rappers. To both me and my father, (though I hate to admit it) MASE almmost always sounds bored when he raps.

Anyway, this single, GET READY, is pretty good Ipurchased it in Europe while I was on vacation and was satisfied for the time being considering they don't play good music in Ireland where I happened to be. It was nice. GET READY is good, but why is it that I always seem to get bored with MASE? I can't really put a finger on it, but it's annoying.

It contains a radio edit of GET READY, a DIRTY VERSION of FEEL SO GOOD, and a radio edit of WHAT YOU WANT.

I liked it, but if you don't like MASE,why bother?

5-0 out of 5 stars I think Mase is great, my boyfriend looks like him
I love ma$

5-0 out of 5 stars I think it's a great song and it shows his true talent.
This is my favorite song. When Al B. Silk came out to my school we did role cale and I won a silk sack. In that sack Mase's single was in that bag. That same week I was planing to stop by the mall to pick up that single. I heard the song before and I loved it. I think that Mase is a wonderful artist. alot of people don't like him because they say that he shows off and every song he raps he talks about what he have and so forth. I feel like this, he worked hard to get to were he's at and I think if he can afford what he has and he has worked hard for it, Don't knock him. Let him chile in the gold rover and give playerhaters the cold shoulder. The truth is if you were in his shoes you would do the same thing if not more. "Lookin at Me" is the Bomb! I listen to it Everyday !Leave the man alone, just by the tape or Cd. Regardless of how you feel about him he is still making his money and living his life until God say it's enough Mase. My last thoughts are Mase is so fine!!! Mase has such Sexy dimpels oh my gosh! if I ever lay hold of him, I'm going to kidnap him and Marry him. I will be Sandra Mase!!!!! If you ever read this Mase, If I ever get the pleasure to meet you, you're going to ask me "tell me what you want" and I won't come second to your money. anyways the best to you Love. ... Read more

Lovin' the original version of this song, I was very excited to find out that there were club mixes coming out. Can I just say that I was not disappointed!! I brought this single to the club with me yesterday, and got the DJ to play the "DJ Tonka Remix". The crowd went buck-wild!! They were lovin' it (as was I) - it has been a long time since I have seen that kind of reaction to a song. And it is also nice to see that rap artists (even rap artists as light as S N P are releasing club mixes). If you liked the original and enjoy club tunes, you need this disc. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Boricua's ALLWAYS represent
This is the best female reggaeton artist on the map. It's no suprise she is from the carribean. It's about time Puertorico steps up and shows what real music is about. Wyclef does live this track up too. Good track with a slamming beat...PUERTO RICO VIVA SIEMPRE...........

5-0 out of 5 stars Ivy Queen All The Way!!!!!!!!My Girl's Reppin PR!!!!!!!!!!!
Ivy Queen is Puerto Rico's Best female rapper and she could probably take down some of the ni99as that are rappin thinkin they nice (Mexicano u's a Fag). is good to see the spanish Rap/Reggae (reggaeton) genre going international like this. this is a great song. there are other genres out there that make no sense (like punk rock 4 example) that get more mention than El Reggaeton Boricua, maybe is because we dont dance to our music by movin our heads but is aight. Reggaeton all the way...

5-0 out of 5 stars REALLY SPIFFY!!
I love this song. I didn't expect Wyclef (or any rapper for that matter) to come out with something like this. It's very origional and will always be a favorite. Plus, Ivy Queen is also a great rapper. Even if this song is very well done, it's also corny. "I believe is miracles! What is wrong? You sexy thing." Get the single. You won't regret it.
