PURE GOLD!
There are three words I can say after listening to this album all the way through: wow, WoW and WOW!!! I must admit, I originally thought ABBA was one or two hit wonder because all I've ever heard from them was the ever-popular "Dancing Queen." (However after listening to it I found myself asking "They sang that?! I had no idea!") I enjoyed "Dancing Queen" enough that my sister bought this wonderful album for me as a Christmas present. At first I was a little hesistant to listen to the other tracks but I decided to do so anyway. And boy, was I impressed!! This is one of the few, exclusive albums that I can listen to all the way through. It's just *that* good.

Even in the 2000's ABBA's legacy lives on. Their music can be tolerated even in today's pop music world. Take the group A*teens for example. Isn't it great that you hear children singing songs such as "Take A Chance On Me" and "Mama Mia"? Yeah maybe they aren't the best singers but the fact remains: ABBA still get recognized even today, decades later. Currently, the Broadway musical "Mama, Mia!" is a hit. With a musical based on ABBA's greatest hits, why wouldn't it be? "Mama Mia!" was written by Benny and Bjork (The two male singers/songwriters of ABBA) as well as the often produced musical, "Chess."

My favorite songs on the album are as follows:
"Take A Chance On Me", "Super Trouper", "Chiquitita", "Voulez Vous", "Does Your Mother Know", "One Of Us", "The Name of the Game" and "Thank You For The Music."
Don't worry, there are more songs on the album then this, all of great merit. I had a hard time myself thinking up which ones were my absolute favorites, and in time they may change as well. All of the songs on this album are up-beat and make you just feel happy inside. The rhythm just makes ya wanna get up and dance (Especially "Dancing Queen"). Yeah, some maybe a little 70's like ("Lay All Your Love On Me") but the fact still remains: ABBA is here to stay!! Reccomended to *anyone*...even if only hearing their song "Dancing Queen."

This Is Pure Gold
The title says it all. Gold - Greatest Hits and every one of the hits included on this album are of the highest standard.

One of the top bands of the 70's and writers of timeless quality songs, Abba's music will surely never die and is currently being boosted further by the tribute band The A Teens which is bringing Abba's music to a new generation of listeners.

Every song included here is great and must be if nine of them topped the UK singles chart during the 70's and early 80's. As well as the number ones there are 10 other great tracks that will no doubt ring a bell to anyone dancing in the 70's. From the major hits Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You, Mamma Mia and the Eurovision Winner Waterloo to lesser known but still as good hits Does Your Mother Know, I Have A Dream and Voulez Vous this CD is sure to please.

My personal favourites are some of Abba's later hits. One Of Us is a beautiful and touching ballad, Lay All Your Love On Me is a stomping disco classic and Chiquitita which is my all time favourite Abba song as i feel it has everything required by a great pop song.

Whether you are young or old, male or female you are sure to enjoy this compilation of some of the finest music of the 70's.

Abba Gold rocks my socks
As i listened to this cd, i realize that i know every single word to every single song. this cd is amazing in that the best songs arent just in the beginning, they are all throughout the cd. the cd starts with the huge hit Dancing Queen and ends with Waterloo. Waterloo was the song that made abba famous when abba won a competition with it and released a record "Waterloo" using the song as the theme song. Throughout the years, movies have used abba songs because they're funny and fun to listen to. In johnny english, does your mother know is one of the main jokes used throughout the movie. some of the most popular songs on this cd are mamma mia, dancing queen, does your mother know, thank you for the music, take a chance on me, and Voulez vous. this cd is truly gold

ABBA - Gold: Greatest Hits
Abba is one the greatest rock bands of all time. They are up their with greats such as Depeche Mode, Beatles, Bee Gees and The Rolling Stones. The lyrics are very well written, the music is amazing and they have unfairly been called stupid disco music when it is in deed sublime. Highly Recommended.

A Timeless Collection of Classic Hits
This disc has all of the essential ABBA classics. From the ever-popular "Dancing Queen" to the melodic "Fernando", this CD contains something for every ABBA fan, either the casual or the strong follower. Formed in the early 1970's, ABBA quickly took Europe by storm, but they had some problems establishing themselves in the United States. But with each successive album, ABBA began to develop a very distinct sound that lured listeners in and they quickly began to establish themselves as one of the first successful "prog rock" groups.

Where would the '80s have been without the Pet Shop Boys? Discography makes a compelling case for the notion of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe as pioneers, if not geniuses. Still impossible to match
This album compiles all the hits the Pet Shop Boys had since their beggining until 1991. All of the tracks here are spotless pieces of pure pop magic: "West End Girls" is the first and, I'm happy to differ with most reviewers, decidedly not the pinnacle of the PSBs career. Tracks like "It's A Sin", "Suburbia", "Heart", "Being Boring", "Domino Dancing", "It's Alright" and "So Hard" truly portrait the utter brilliance and artistry that this group invested in its work. It's no wonder that they are still one of the most reveered pop acts of all times, truly up there with the likes of Abba and Depeche Mode. A new compilation has been released including all of their 1990s hits, but this one still remains unshadowed and an gem of pure 80s pop. You can do absolutely no wrong here... every track is delicious. Please do buy it... or else, get "PopArt" instead. That one has everything on here but "Was It Worth It?".

An album of classics....
This album, along with New Order's Substance 1987, form what is to me the soundtrack of the 80's.

This album literally lives up to its title as a discography, collecting the 7" versions of all of the boy's first 18 singles on one disc in chronological order. As such, it makes a terrific CD to buy as your first Pet Shop Boys disc as its a terrific overview of their material.

The Pet Shop Boys wit and irony, along with Neal Tennant's excellent voice combined to make some of the best pop songs of the 80's. Included are lot of well known hits like West End Girls, Suburbia, Always On My Mind, and What Have I Done To Deserve This?. There are also a lot of songs here that are virtually unknown in the U.S. but every bit as good as the afformentioned titles, such as "Love Comes Quickly" - a beautiful ballad - and "Heart", a song that they had considered giving to Madonna. Just as important, these songs have held up well to the test of time, even though some were recorded as early as 1984. Through these singles, the boy's take shots at capitalism (Opportunities), cover Elvis Presley and U2 (Always On My Mind and Where the Streets Have No Name), sing about the Gulf War (DJ Culture), urban decay (Suburbia), and 'rent boys' (Rent). The music always holds up and the lyrics display a level of intellegence unmatched by nearly every other group - for instance, in DJ Culture Neal quips "Like Liz [Taylor] before Betty [as in the Betty Ford Clinic], She [madonna] before Sean [Penn], suddenly you're missing, then you're reborn" - and in Left To My Own Devices, they invoke references to classical composers - "Che Guvara and Debussy to a disco beat" are just a few examples.

Also, carrying the discography theme further, this album scores bonus points as the CD booklet that comes with the album folds out to show a chart that includes information about all the songs, including a picture of the single cover of each, its peak UK chart position, and a brief blurb from the boys about each song. I wish more compilation albums would follow the Boy's lead in this regard.

It is a shame that
the real kings of pop music are so overlooked these days. But it doesn't matter: We, the ones who understand how good they are are having lots of fund and sheer quality. This is the first greatest hits from this unique band preceding their other golden item Popart. While it collects the entire catalogue of the Boys this is only up to 1991 and it has the wonderful Was It Worth it? I discovered them by chance when I heard their song I don't Know what you want but..from the Nightlife era and I have been collecting their items since then. Discography is a must for anyone having a good taste in music. These guys are simply geniuses no matter what the overproud Amazon.com reviewer says.

Boys, you are always on my mind!

Deserves millions of stars
Well, well maybe PopArt is released but Discography is something special. It collects the best pop songs ever by one of the best groups that this world has ever seen and will ever see. The ride in this album is a pure joy from the very start (West End Girls) to the very end (Was It Worth It). 1980s were the best years of pop songs and these guys are the responsible culprits. Never lyrics felt so effective; never music was so captivating...never melancholy, infinite sadness and a childish yearn for goodness and pureness blended as good as in this compilation. IMHO PSB are the real kings of music world...but because they are a synth band...they are not physically attractive...and they are gays oh how easy to overlook them ...but you never know what you are missing...

Discography is a zenith from a band that is always at the zenith. An album including jaw-dropping songs like Always On My Mind, Opportunities and well yes Left to My Own Devices deserve every bit of praise.

God bless these guys. They are the protective shields of true music lovers against the nonsense called Britney Spears, Eminem, 25 Cent and several more.

I found this is a pawn shop for $2.00 and of course, snatched it up.It's worth spending full-price on if only for "west end girls","surburbia","being boring" and "jealousy".but you get heaps of other wonderful songs.The only songs I don't like (but they may grow on me) are "it's alright and "dj culture" the rest is pure gold. ... All the singles in one double CD
This collection includes all the songs that were released as singles in Sweden, plus re-mixes of two of them. All their British and American hits can be found here, though some songs were not released as singles outside Sweden, while others were released in some other countries but not others.

The set begins with the pre-Abba track People need love - it features Benny and Bjorn but not Agnetha or Frida. The featured female singer is Svenska Flicka, who is otherwise unknown to me. Ring ring was Abba's first real single, while He is your brother is an interesting song, but Abba only really hit the big time with Waterloo, which was their first British number one and also reached the top ten in America. Subsequent singles met with varying degrees of success and it was not until Dancing queen was released in 1976 that Abba had another hit that could be called truly international. It went all the way to number one in Britain, America and many other countries.

Their other British number ones were Mamma Mia, Fernando, Knowing me knowing you, Name of the game, Take a chance on me, Super trouper and Winner takes it all. Many of their other singles went into the top five, including I have a dream, which spent a month at number two. In America, Take a chance on me was a huge hit but the others were markedly less successful.

This is a wonderful collection of Abba's music. If you only want one Abba collection, this is a good one to choose.

Admit it, they're good!
This greatest hit set blows away previous ABBA greatest hits sets. It has all their hits and great album tracks, thereby completely making "Gold" and "More Gold" obsolete. Most people still refuse to acknowledge ABBA as a worthy musical entity simply because their music is poppy and their lyrics aren't socialogically significant. However their tunes and carefully crafted productions are, and will be timeless. The songwritering team of Anderson-Ulvaeus are as strong as Lennon and McCartney when crafting melodies. The two female vocalists, Anni-Frid and Agnetha, do a superb job of layering their vocals to fit the song. From the excitment of "Waterloo" to the disco beat of "Dancing Queen," from the horn-driven "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" to the super-low bass synth in "One of Us" this two disc has it all. Put them in your CD and let it go. Don't worry if you can't "get" what other artists are trying to tell you or if their "angst" doesn't move you. Just put ABBA on and smile. Good music does that. You'll be singing these songs for days. Sometimes good music doesn't have to be about anything---and thats what makes it good.

ABBA rules!
I also was in Jr. High School and High School when Abba was cranking out top 10 hits. In those days I snuck into the record shop and hid my Abba albums under the cover of Led Zeppelin and then ditched the Zeppelin at the check out counter. It was imperative to hide your face while purchasing Abba albums. They were that uncool. To admit you loved this group in geometry class was to court disaster and be ostracized for the rest of your life.

Such nonsense mattered as a 14 year old, now I can openly say Abba's music is wonderful and their arrangements were as innovative as anything coming out of the 70's. It is simply impossible to listen to Dancing Queen or Take a Chance on Me and not want to hear the songs again and again. The vocal intricacies on Take a Chance are equal to the harmonies on most Beach Boys records. How about Waterloo? Three minutes of the most pulsing, catchy music ever put on a disc.

Abba's music sounds better today than it ever did, particularly when you know what dreck was produced by other bands in the intervening years. They might not have been Dylanesque lyrically, but few have ever written songs with such clever hooks, bridges and infectious rhythm. Thirty years after the fact, the impossible has happened: Abba has finally become cool!

Renders "Abba Gold" obsolete
this 2 disc set of Abba spanning 1972-1982 (their entire run) is worth getting, even if it costs a little more than the famous Abba Gold. Abba has too many good songs for just one measly disc. For those who want more than one disc, but don't want to fork over $60 for the box set (which is a great box set if you like Abba enough), The Definitive Collection is the title for you. The best part is that except for the two "bonus" tracks at the end (the 12" remix of Voulez-Vous and the US single version of Ring Ring), everything on here is chronologically. Spanning 1972's People Needs Love to 1982's The Day Before You Came. I prefer it when compilation cd's are in chronological order instead of in a mishmash.

For the 3 people who still hate Abba, GET OVER IT!!! To deny Benny/Bjorn as great pop songwriters (IMO, in a league with Lennon/McCartney, Taupin/John and Brian Wilson in terms of writing great pop songs) is showing that you still hold the image of Abba against them. Get over it. Abba still rules and people will be listening to them until the end of time.

Fantastic
A fantastically trashy collection of cartoonish Europop, often so cheerful and upbeat that it's almost depressing ('Happy Boys and Girls' for example). The haunting vocal interplay of squeaky Lene and gruff Rene is something that you don't forget in a hurry, and the artfully-mangled English (almost the first line on the album is 'I've got a feeling you could use a little smile') adds to the goofy charm. It's actually quite hard to not like them - they don't seem to have any pretentions to being 'art' (unlike, say, 'Ace of Base').

The stand-out tracks here are the singles 'Barbie Girl', 'My Oh My', 'Dr Jones', and 'Turn Back Time' (which sounds extraordinarily Madonna-esque), with 'Happy Boys and Girls' and 'Calling Me' acting as solid reserves. Most of the other songs are fairly anonymous - 'In the Heat of the Night' is fun, but you'll probably skip the rest.

Given the band's inventive visual style, it would have been nice if the album had included the amusing videos, but you can't have everything.

Not my style anymore, but still catchy and funny!
Aqua used to be one of my favourite bands when I was younger. But for no reason, I just went off them. I don't listen to this album anymore, but I decided to review it for a laugh.
This album is brilliant stuff. It's one of those happy albums that everyone laughs at. Aqua are one of those bands that you either love or hate. Stand out tracks are:

3. Barbie Girl - Of course! The classic Aqua track, with the funny lyrics and catchy chorus. How could it not be a stand out track?
4. Doctor Jones - Another definite stand out. It's funny with an addictive chorus.
6. Heat Of The Night - A cool party track, with a great chorus and catchy verses.
8. Lollipop (Candyman) - My personal favourite off this CD. It's just so damn cute! It has an awesome chorus and adorable verses "I wish I was a bubblegum!" was my catchphrase for ages!
9. Roses Are Red - This track's music always reminded me of a computer game. A computer game I used to have has music like in this song. This has cool vocals too with 'Roses are red' being said backwards.

Overall, a cute, dancy happy little CD that a lot of kids probably still like. A good effort.

Annoying CD
I wouldnt buy this cd, my sister got it when it first came out, she got it cause she liked that annoying barbie girl cd. I listened to this cd, sadely enough, and I got to say, You will not be able to stand that one girls annoying voice, you will want to pull your hair out.

Great CD
I love this CD, even though it's considered really old now. I used to listen to that stuff when i was only4 yrs old, and me and my friends made a dance routine. Brings back memories.

Aqua pure gold
Aquarium might sadly be a one-hit wonder for Aqua, but what a hit it is! It has a variety of good music, although I must say it is great for getting started into the dance-electronica scene. Lene's beautiful voice and Rene Dif's deep interjections really contribute a lot to their songs. If you pick your ear up, you can also hear a nice blend of sounds that make their music complex, or polyphonic. A lot of music of this genre falls into the trap of simplicity wrapped around a repeating drum loop, but not Aqua! Even their slow stuff is good. Very upbeat, happy, and cheerful. ... Read more

A debut with power!
Ace of Base's debut effort, The Sign, is probably the best of the nineties. Aside from selling 21 million copies around the globe, and from being the #1 album of 1994, it is truly creative. From the opening track "All That She Wants" that includes the feel of Jamaican beaches and features their signature reggae-pop beats, it is a non-stop tour of Euro-dance and reggae-pop! "Don't Turn Around" is a powerful lost-love song that echoes with Linn's dramatic vocals and Jenny's heartbreaking back-ups. "Wheel of Fortune", "Living In Danger", "Dancer in a Daydream", "Happy Nation"- these are the album's best tracks. The Bangrha version of "ATSW" could have done better off of the CD, maybe replaced with one of their European tracks, like "Hear Me Calling", and the 7" Remix of "Waiting for Magic" totally kills the original version of the song that is on the European album (The original version of "WFM" is very good). The standout song is the title track, "The Sign", which is a fun, poppy song that, aside from being their biggest hit, is a meaningful track that brings life to to the whole record. This is the best album of the decade, so GET IT!

OUT OF CONTROL-GOOD-This is the ABSOLUTE truth!
I can NOT SAY ENOUGH good things about this album! I bought it when I was 10 or 11 when it first came out, and I STILL listen to it, it is still relavent! This cd ranks on my top 10 cds of all time, hands down...it is THAT GOOD! Here, I will rate the songs....

1. All That She Wants-definitely a classic, surprisingly not one of my favorite cuts though, but nothing on this album gets below an 8! The only reason I rate this an 8 is b/c I am into the more uptempo songs on here.. 8/10
2. Don't Turn Around-classic Ace of Base...9/10
3. Young and Proud-very good, excellent even. Nothing on this cd will dissapoint in my opinion 8/10
4. Sign-NOT one of my fav cuts on the album. I may sound negative, but I am trying to show that there are even better cuts than the radio classics!!! The Sign is great of course! :)

5. Living in Danger-one of the best cuts on the album! Dark, mysterious, should've done better in the US 9/10

ARe you kidding me?
This CD is hands down the worst CD since, well, ever. I'm disappointed in our country as a whole for rating this CD with as many stars as The Beatles. The fact that one even has to ask oneself about the gender of the singer makes me want to throw up in my mouth. This CD sucks. My ears have put me on music probation for a month for forcing them to listen to such an abomination of tones and rhythms. Such crimes have not been comitted with electronic instruments since this album or before it. Quit listening to crap.

The Sign
The Sign~ Ace of Base is on of the best debut record maybe since speak and spell by Depeche Mode. The songs are fun and the lyrics are stupid and inane like they should be.

I still love this album to this day!
I didn't know about this group as much when "All That She Wants" was a hit in the US. But I liked them more when their album "The Sign" came out! Very fun, catchy and funky songs with a lot of melody and rhythm! Their clashing of pop and reggae was so unique. Love the title song, All, Don't Turn Around, Young and Proud, My Mind, Wheel of Fortune, the adventurous Happy Nation and others. Joker's producing of many of the songs were the album's highlight. One of the Greatest Album of All-Time
Although this album was release in 1988, the songs still hold their own even today. Even now, after listening to numerous bands including today pop sensations such as N'sync or Britney Spears, Roxette still sounds a WHOLE lot better. Some of my favorite songs include The Look, Dress for Success, Dangerous, and Listen to your heart. I highly recommend this album, you won't be disappointed.

This album is of course very well known for being the first album to be listened in America and which brought Roxette to other countries and continents (1989). It is really for collectors. The Look, Dangerous, Dressed for Success and Listen to Your Heart are songs I am sure you still remember. Another good song in the album is Paint... Try it all

The best of all Roxette albums....
I got this album for Christmas in 1988 as a casette....and it was so good...I had to replace it on CD around 1990. I think this is Roxette's best album that they have ever done. All of the songs are great....especially the ones toward the end like LISTEN TO YOUR HEART, VIEW FROM A HILL, SHADOW OF A DOUBT, and of course DANGEROUS. Marie and Pierre made such great music together. They were the forerunners of current Europop...and for that...we are all grateful! :) You should go out and get this one....you will find yourself dancing and enjoying it as much as I did...and still do!!!!!!

Swedish Pop/Rock/Dance PERFECTION, 5 +++++ Stars
PER GESSLE IS A MUSIC GENIUS - this must be said. The man's songwriting talent is Tremendous. He might have some problems when it comes to Lyrics, but his ability to create a Memorable Melody that people will Love is Tremendous.
He picks up right from where ABBA's Bjorn and Benny left off.
Amd those Combinations of Rock and Dance/Disco work like Magic for Roxette.

Infectious Melodies and Hooks that Stick in your Head, is what makes Per's Tunes Truly Unforgettable. And vocals of Marie make these songs Explode (sometimes with Per's Vocal Help).

"Look Sharp" was released in 1988, and contains 13 Unforgettable Hits ("13 Thrilling Programmes in one Night"). It's too bad they could not release all of them as Singles. They would All go Straight to the Top. There aren't any Fillers here, and the album is like a time-capsule with some of those 80's Saxophone sounds.

"The Look", "Dangerous" and "Listen to your Heart" are probably the Best known Songs on this Album. But there are many other songs that are Just as Good (if not Better).

The album is So Great, that it's IMPOSSIBLE to Single out any Track in particular. They are all 100% Hits. IMO this Album Leaves any Album by Madonna or Paula Abdul or Prince IN THE DUST, yeah in the Dust (My opinion).

While most Tracks are in Dance/Rock style with lots of Energy, there is One Incredible Love Ballad called "Cry" - it's a Very Beautiful Song.

Songs "Chances" and "Shadow of a Doubt" have soooo Much Passion in them that it hurts. And a Track like "Sleeping Single", "Paint" and "Dance Away" are Dangerously Catchy and Melodic, and you can't help but move to those Guitar Riffs and Synthesizer lines.

Roxette's Latest album was called "Room Service" (2001) and it was just as Great as their other albums. But Unfortunately US Record Companies don't pay any attention to them anymore. I really wish they would.

This is a Great Album, from a Legendary Dance/Rock/Pop Group, the kind that only happen once in a Lifetime.

Perfect pop from Sweden
This album, which contains all of Roxette's big hits, is one of the best ever made. This Swedish band is the perfect example of chemistry in a duo: Per and Marie complement each other wonderfully. The first is a creative and talented songwriter, and the latter sings like a goddess. Full of tremendous songs, this album keeps its grip on the listener for beginning to end. With the possible of exception of "Big Love" and "Dangerous", every track is of extremely high quality. Even after all these years, my personal favorite is "Listen to Your Heart". The final chorus of this song is especially enchanting. Other songs that deserve an honorable mention are "It Must Have Been Love", "Fading like a Flower", "Spending My Time", "Joyride", ...oh! I could go on and on, but I will also rescue "Almost Unreal", even though many dislike it. The chorus is delightful, and the main reason it has had such bad publicity is that it was in the "Super Mario Bros." film. The four new tracks are all excellent, as well as varied in style. In summary, Roxette not only doesn't bore us , but provides us with an amazing collection that will perennially remain in the listeners' favorites list.

Not their Greatest Songs, but HITS
The Roxette story is as famed as their killer chorusses & their power ballads. This CD reviews Roxette's success up to 1995 & contains all the super hits you know & love. Standout hits have to be Almost Unreal (never released before on a Roxette album), the achingly gorgeous Spending My Time & Crash! Boom! Bang!. The cd reminds you just how brilliant Roxette are & lets you relive those late 80s/early 90s moments, should it be the na-na-na-na's of The Look, or of the raucous It Must Have Been Love from Pretty Woman. Marie is, Julia is not. Even for Roxette fans who have all their albums to date, the album is worthwhile for the 4 new tracks included; You Don't Unerstand Me is one of Roxette's finest moments. She Doesn't Live Here Anymore is an extra-catchy Per-led rock song. June Afternoon, also sung by Per, is an ice-cream & candyfloss type song (ith quite a surreal video). I Don't Wana Get Hurt is a great ballad sung by Marie, which closes off a perfect album.

Not all their singles are here - Church of Your Heart or Queen Of Rain for example, the latter being one of Rxette's finer moments. It should have replaced Vulnerable (included here), which in layman's terms is quite crap.

The liner notes in the booklet are commentaries by Roxette on all the songs included, which is a nice inclusion for fans, as it gives them a glimpse of how Roxette view their songs & tell a few intersting stories. Few greatest hits albums go into this much depth. A worthy addition to any music fan's collection, this is one of the more comprehensive GH vehicles around. Join the Joyride, folks

In fact Don't Bore Us Get To The Chorus is one of the best done Greatest Hits I ever bought, has a little thought of each hit by Roxette and has every hit that was release, so this album is very complete and satisfying cos it includes tha master hits that made Roxette one of the most played POP bands of the late 80's before it faded out of the STARDOM status, without losing their creativity demostraded on the next two albums, the best tracks are DRESSED FOR SUCCESS, SPENDING MY TIME(I totally agree that this should have been their greatest hit, but then promotion got the song stuck in oblivion), FADING LIKE A FLOWER, and IT MUST HAVE BEEN LOVE, a great album to enjoy.

And they deliver by not boring you to the chorus!

Pales in comparison to the European release...
Once again the U.S. fans of Ace Of Base get screwed. We only get ONE new track in "C'est La Vie (Always 21)" and three remixes of past hits. I think the only thing that makes this CD worth buying for the American consumer is that it includes "Life Is A Flower", the ORIGINAL version of "Whenever You're Near Me" from the inadequately promoted "Cruel Summer" CD. It also includes the Metro Remix of "Everytime It Rains from the aforementioned CD, and I DO commend Arista for including this, as should appeal to the more dance-oriented fans of the group. Now if we only had a video for it... Anyway, "C'est La Vie (Always 21)" is a great track that should receive radio airplay throughout the country. But a more optimum thing to do would be to make a collection almost exactly the same as this, though replace the two remixes at the end with the two other new tracks on the European release, and replace "Life Is A Flower" with "Whenever You're Near Me", and then include a second CD as a limited edition, which includes various songs such as "Life Is A Flower", "Dr. Sun", "He Decides (European Version)", "Travel To Romantis (European Version)", "Cruel Summer (Big Bonus Remix)", and "I Pray" from the European "Flowers" CD, plus "Love For Sale", "Into The Night Of Blue", "Mercy Mercy" and "No Good Lover", all single B-Sides from that CD. ANd for good measure, throw in "You & I" and the ORIGINAL version of "Lucky Love" from "The Bridge" CD plus "L'amour", a song Ace of Base recorded for a European Christmas CD a few years back. Now THAT would be CD worth buying. This is only worth buying for the die-hard fan or for one who can't get imports.

Ace Of Base - Greatest Hits
Ace Of Base - Greatest Hits~ Ace of Base is a good compilation with their main songs. They recieved som mean criticism for being airy and not bright. Then again that is why you listen to this kind of music. Want esoteric babel then read das kapital, Want to have fun and be fancy free then listen to this album.

The '90s ABBA
The idea of a Greatest Hits for a band like Ace of Base might strike some as ludicrous since 1) They've only had a few hits to begin with; 2) Most of those hits came off of 1994's "The Sign" album, which everybody already secretly owns. If, however, you somehow failed to get swept up in Ace of Base-mania back in the day and are just now discovering them, this is the disc you want. It includes "The Sign"'s three big hits: "All That She Wants," "The Sign," and "Don't Turn Around". Say what you will about those songs, but they were uber-infectious when they first came out. Also included are "Beautiful Life" and "Lucky Love," two of Ace of Base's better songs, as well as their cover of Bananarama's "Cruel Summer". Unfortunately, Ace of Base's limited American success starts becoming apparent when tracks unfamiliar to most Americans--such as the beautiful "Everytime It Rains"--start popping up. Points are also deducted for annoying remixes at the end, an only semi-chronological track order, and the fact that no new songs are included. Ace of Base might be the ABBA of the Nirvana generation, but their Greatest Hits is only so-so

Good but incomplete, get "Singles Of the 90's" instead
Check ebay.com if you don't wanna pay $40 (I got mine for $9.99 sealed), I would suggest skipping the US version of AOB's GH and get the European version instead. You get 6 more tracks, including 2 never before released songs, as well as the original mixes of Cruel Summer and Lucky Love (both superior to the US mixes). It also seemed like it was done with a more labor of love than the Arista GH.

On the wings of the hit club single "Blue (Da Ba Dee)," the Italian group Eiffel 65's Europop has soared into the ever-fleeting good graces of the dance-pop scene. The song is "a story about a little guy who lives in a blue world," and while it seems that the color of the fella's life was chosen arbitrarily, the real star of this tune is the vocoder effect reintroduced on Cher's megahit single "Believe." Listen to the entire record, though, and you'll hear this gimmick on almost all of the rest of the tracks as well. On first run-through, the one-trick-pony-ness of this effect is off-putting, and yet it is the album's one distinctive element. The songs on Europop live up to the album's broad moniker, skimming the basics of tried-and-true dance-pop ("Living in a Bubble," "Now Is Forever"), techno ("Dub in Life," "Another Race"), and acid house ("Europop"). The group even renders a fairly accurate impression of Depeche Mode-style goth-pop ("Your Clown"). But the tracks rarely deviate from a four-on-the-floor thud, numbing the ears to the songs' otherwise distinguishable qualities. The year's biggest dance band, the year's best dance cd!
Eiffel 65 are, without a doubt, the biggest thing to emerge from Italy since The Three Tenors and pizza. Their debut cd, EUROPOP, has become the best selling dance album of the year- generating album sales of over 2 million here in the US. Many people consider Eiffel 65 a pointless-one hit wonder-act, but I prefer to disagree, as there are many songs on this cd which could prove to be future hits.

Starting with the opening track, the worldwide smash hit "Blue (Da Ba Dee)", EUROPOP is a fantastic tour through the realms of Euro-house music. "Too Much of Heaven", "Living In A Bubble", "Your Clown", "Now Is Forever"- they stray off into more electronic-pop, but with such tracks as "Move Your Body" and "Another Race", it's back to the basics with the piano-led house formula. Such tracks that truly standout include "Hyperlink" and "Europop". "Hyperlink" is an enjoyable love song that will have you romancing as well as dancing =). The title track is a perfect example of the edgy, hardcore house sound that is defined by many acts that have exploded out of Europe. But the thing about house music is that many people consider it too "underground" and not really mainstream. But many of the club-oriented songs we hear on the radio and that are climbing the charts are just random spin-offs of the basic house formula.

EUROPOP is ready and willing to push the envelope for future dance acts that will more than likely have further success in the US. This album is a true poineer in dance music, and will take it well into the next millennium.

Eiffel 65: Europop
As far as CDs rank, Eiffel 65: Europop is #1. Several of the songs have meanings and lessons to them, but most of them are just for fun. The 13 songs on this track are: Blue (Da-ba-dee), Too Much of Heaven, Dub in Life, Living in a Bubble, Move Your Body, My Console, Your Clown, Another Race, The Edge, Now is Forever, Silicon World, Europop, Hyperlink (Deep Down), and Blue (Da-ba-dee) Extended Mix. Below are separate, brief reviews for each song. Blue (Da-ba-dee) is Eiffel 65's most popular song. Blue has a great beat and rhythm to it. The lyrics are extremely clear and easy to hear. It is pleasant to listen to (Unless you are from the "OLD" generation). On My scale of 1-10, this song definitely earns a 10. Too Much of Heaven also has a nice beat to it. This not- as-well-known song carries with its lyrics a message. I won't tell you the message now so you can figure it out for yourself (it shouldn't be too hard). My rating on this song is a 6. Dub in Life starts off with a smooth beat, and keeps it all the way through the song. It is the type of song you would find at a Middle School Dance. This one gets an 8. Living in a Bubble starts off relatively slow and may sound like a classic at the beginning, but it gets more interesting as the song progresses. Living in a Bubble earns a 9. Move Your Body starts off with a funky synthesizer effect, and progresses into a clear, modern style song. One thing that I saw room for improvement on, were the lyrics. This one moves its way into a 7.

My Console goes on and on about Playstation. It seems to me to be like an ad incorporated into a rock band's CD. This one 'plays' its way to a 6. Your Clown is more of a slower song than most pop/rock ones. It has a catchy tune, and nice lyrics, though. Through it's lyric/rhythm incorporation; this song without a doubt deserves a 9. Like Move Your Body, Another Race starts off with a synthesizer effect, and keeps it up through the songs repeated chorus. It describes "another race" coming down to the planet. This song 'invades' its way to an 8. A song with an energetic feeling to it is The Edge. If you are working out and need invigoration, this is the song to listen to. If you aren't, listen to it anyway. This song 'runs' its way to an 8. Now is Forever has more of a reverent feeling to it at the beginning. As the song progresses, it gets more of a techno feeling to it, but still keeps its calming effect. This song earns definite 7. The "Twilight Zone" style song is Silicon World. It keeps the style as a background throughout the song. Europop begins like someone changing stations on a sliding display radio. Then it gets into a steady, techno style beat, with lyrics that sound as if they are describing the style of music on the CD. This song without doubt gets a great 9.5. The song Hyperlink (Deep Down) starts off with it's lyrics in the first second of the track. For a good part of the first minute, it repeats the same words over, and over, and over. This gets extremely annoying after the next couple dozen times. This song 'links up' with a respectable 7.8. The second Blue (Da-ba-dee) Extended Mix is almost the Carbon Copy of Blue (Da-ba-dee) (It pretty much is), except for the fact that it runs for an extra minute and 14 seconds. This version of Blue (Da-ba-dee) gets a more than perfect record of 13.9, clearly the best song on the CD. As a whole, Eiffel 65:Europop is an excellent addition to a collection, and a good buy for today's "modern" generation. The 14 songs on this CD total a good 65minutes 19seconds. I give the CD an overall rating (not an average) of 8.5 for excellent sound, lyrics, and just plain beat.

i just want to tell you people how horrible eiffel 65 is
I am ashamed to have ever owned this album, but I just hadn't heard Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx yet. The formulaic and cliched rhythmic and harmonic devices prevalent in this completely unoriginal type of dance pop are all present ad nauseum on this cd. It is mostly the four on the floor thing made for dancing, and I guess that's okay as long as you don't listen to the lyrics. Oh god the lyrics are horrible, they are all either bad extended metaphors (Hyperlink) or stories that don't make any sense (Blue) or preschool life lessons (Living in a Bubble). Please find good techno music and don't listen to this please.

Remember when "Blue" was played on the radio constantly?
It seems like only yesterday that the song became amazingly popular and addictive. Then, slowly, less and less catchy, and more...annoying. You can only take so much Da Ba Dee.

But it's been a while now, and a friend had me listen to Europop. Now that the sting of constanly listening to Blue had faded, I found myself humming along to the familiar song, and loving the rest of the songs. Da Ba Dee may have been the song that got them fame and hype, but it's a lot of the others that strike me as the better songs.

Stand-Outs:
>>Too Much of Heaven -- I love this song--it's catchy, with good lyrics.
>>Living in a Bubble -- I laughed when I first heard this song, but it grew on me, and before long creeped it's way into my list of faves.
>>Hyperlink [Deep Down] -- I can only describe this as the ultimate geek love song. Like the rest of the songs on this album, it's catchy enough that even non-geeks should enjoy it, even if they don't pick up everything.

Disappointments:

>>Blue [Extended Mix] -- Once is enough. Seriously.
>>Edge -- This one doesn't seem to be any less catchy than the rest, but it's never managed to catch my attention--I always seem to be passing it by while listening to it without noticing it.

So, if you got tired of hearing Blue, you'll be surprised by some of the other tracks. And if you never got tired of it, songs like "Move Your Body" will keep you listening. Either way, this isn't a CD to overlook.

Massive guilty pleasure
Just like Cher and Aqua, Eiffel 65 was another guilty pleasure from the late '90s. I loved hi-nrg at the time when the pop group came out. Over the years since '99, my musical tastes evolved into something more interesting and less tacky than my dance-pop phase. Still I can't deny that Eiffel 65 put out some ultra-catchy pop music. As stupid as they lyrics are to "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" are, I just love the melodies (just pass on the lyrics). I think it was the piano. Unfortunately the next track bordered on the stupid side with the computerized vocals ala Cher on "Too Much of Heaven". The biggest weakness with Eiffel 65 is that they lacked songwriting skills. The lyrics are unbelievably silly, if not stupid. Melody-wise, Eiffel 65 knew a good hook and was able to translate it into infectious, if not addictively catchy pop songs. Yes, the group's music is pretty disposable and forgettable but everyone has their 15 minutes in the spotlight. Eiffel 65 certainly had their 15 minutes of fame. ... Read more

More than you'd expect...
Roxette followed up "The Look," "Listen to Your Heart," "Dangerous" and "It Must Have Been Love" with this very tight, well-produced and simply enjoyable album that runs the gambit from guitar rock to acoustic balladry. Not everything on this album is perfect, but songs like "Fading Like a Flower (Every Time You Leave)," "Spending My Time," "Knockin' on Every Door," "Perfect Day," "Watercolours in the Rain" and, of course, the title track make this album definitely worth buying and listening to over and over again. Once you get tired of morose grunge, monotonous hip hop and now-standard "alternative" sounds of groups like Seismonic and Matchbox 20, you WILL come back to this.

A Total Rollercoaster of a Ride
This album catapulted Roxette to the top of their league in 1991. Riding on the success of Look Sharp! & It Must Have Been Love, Roxette became famed mainly for their power rock ballads. Kicking off the album came the title track with silly lyrics but a killer chorus. If you listen to the musical content of the song however you appreciate Roxette's attention to the musical content of their songs. It races between guitar drive pop to acoustic then rises to saloon-ype piano before reverting back to electric guitar. Fantastic.

The album falls into 2 catgories - catchy pop or power ballads. Formulaic it may be, but certainly works. pop side you have catchy stuff like I Remember You (with uplifting nana's) & the riotous Soul Deep which just swings along. There's also a hot-rock song called HotBlooded - a live! favourite still after all these years. The ballads are something else even if you get the feeling they've been taken from a recipe book. The singles Fading Like A Flower & Spending My Time are gorgeous, particularly the latter, which reveals Marie's vocal talents. Excited is real power-vocals, while Watercolours In The Rain is nursery-rhyme like. It's just Marie & a guitar. Stunning.

Add a gazillion sales, worldwide adoration, & you have a slight glimpse of the legacy of Roxette. Still releasing albums today, Joyride is by no means their best work (for that see Have A Nice Day - one of the best albums ever), however testament to the brilliance of these Swedes

80's Dance/Rock/Pop Masterpiece from Sweden 5++++
I think it was very hard to follow up the Great "Look Sharp" album; but judging by this album, for Per Gessle it was not that hard. He simply takes the listener on an Ultimate "Joyride", filled to the brim with some of the Wildest and Catchiest Melody Hooks.

This is definitley one of the Greatest 80's Pop/Rock/Dance albums. It's Hit after Hit after Hit from first track to the last, with songs that for me never get old. Simply a Must-Have in any Pop CD Collection.

Great Catchy Dance songs, with Irresistible Melody Hooks, Guitar Riffs, Techno Beats, and Vocals that immediately pick up your spirits.

I love this album. This IS their greatest hits album. Yes the others albums are good but this one could stand alone. Some awesome rock/pop tunes (Joyride, Hotblooded,Knockin' on Every Door). The ballads are very deep and plentiful (Watercolours in the Rain, Do You Get Excited, etc). I used to watch the Joyride video on Much Music back in Canada. Haven't seen it in years but it ruled!!! It tended to make you a little dizzy:)

A Great Album That Euro-Dance Fans Will Love
To Real MCcoy Fans: It's Real MCcoy need I say more? But it. To all others this is a great album you should get it.

Most Euro-Dance acts have one big hit a disappear from the face of the Earth, but Real MCcoy has been the rare exception. Originally formed under the name M.C. SAR & The Real MCcoy the group has been around for more than a decade and has it's fare share of Number 1 hits and albums. Another Night is no exception. The title track has a great dance beat, awesome vocals, and explosive raps that will make anyone hit the dance floor. Th track itself is very good and will get stuck in your head for hours. Come & Get Your Love is a cover of the Redbone song and is very well performed. Most covers aren't very good compared to the original and again this the exception. The group performs this song excellently. This song is basically different from the rest of the tracks by being more Pop than Dance but it doesn't stray too far from the Dance elements. If You Should Ever be lonely is an entirely different track all together. It's not quite Dance, not quite Pop, not quite R&B, but a fusion of the three. This song is another cover done well by the group. While lyrically sound, musically it could've been done better. Run Away is one of the biggest Euro-Dance anthems that just won't die. I can go to a club and hear it played even to this day. Musically and lyrically sound I have to say this is the best track on the album. Sleeping With An Angel is Euro-Dance's version of a power ballad. The group takes the song to the highest level that could be possibly done to it. The song is beautiful with it's string and piano arrangements and the vocals only help it. Ooh Boy, yet another cover song is really good. It sounds a little like Come& Get Your Love but the group could have put a lot more energy into this one. Love & Devotion is an excellent Euro-Pop track that works well anywhere. It's both raido and club friendly, you can listen to it in your car and not have a problem. Automatic Lover is an all out High NRG song that will get you moving. While the lyrics may be considered sexually explicit(I honestly don't think so) it is a great track. Operator is another High NRG dance track but it almost strays off into the Trance/Techno category. I Want You is a slower song that almost has an R&B feel to it. It's actually very different from the rest of the tracks on the album in many respects. The Another Night House mix is a good song but not half as good as the original. After listening to it a few times It actually gets quite annoying. This album is one of the best that represents Euro-Dance to the fullest and should be picked up.

amazing CD
I bought this CD after finishing 6th grade about 9 years ago and loved the album as a whole. Europop was all over the airwaves in Canada, it's hard to believe it wasn't the same in the US. Another Night was very very popular, and I was obsessed with the song for quite some time. Runaway and Come Get Your Love were also very popular singles. I popped in this CD after it collected dust for a few years and I loved it all over again. I didn't appreciate the song I Want You when I first got the CD but almost 10 years later I've come to appreciate it. If You Should Ever Be Lonely and Sleeping With an Angel are catchy and melodic, Ooh Boy and Love Devotion make you get your groove on. It's a very good dance music album, their female vocalists may not have strong voices, but this is fun, easy listening music that you can relax to or dance to or put on when you're feeling excited, so I take it for what it is, great dance music. Also if you love music from this time period, check out fun factory(close to you, take your chance), darkness(in my dreams), whigfield(saturday night, another day), crystal waters(gypsy woman, 100% pure love), etc.

Another Night
Another Night~ Real Mccoy is a cool and likeable euro dance album with all the ingredients that is need for a good euro dance album. The songs are fun and the music is great. What is not to like about this album?

90's German Dance/Techno/Pop Classic
My dream has always been to get the European edition of this CD, it was called MC Sar and Real Mccoy "Space Invaders", because the tracklist of that one had some songs that were never on US release.

You did not live in the 90's if you never heard this album. I've had this album for 8 or 9 years, and I still Love to listen to it once in a while. I personally think Real Mccoy should have got Much more attention that what they actually got in US.

This album has some Awesome fast EuroDance songs with Great Techno Beats, Catchy Melody Hooks, Female Vocals and Awesome Male Rap. These are:

"Another Night" - a major club and radio hit in mid 90's
"Run Away" - just as Great as "Another Night", also a hit
"Automatic Lover" - again, a Great Techno Song.
"Operator" - Great techno song

Love and Devotion" - is a Great Dance/Pop song with Nice Beat, but not as fast as the ones listed above. It's similar to Ace Of Base.

There are also some GREAT Slow Love Ballads:

"I want You" - a Beautful Love Song with good synthy arrangement, it brings many emotions.

"Sleeping With and angel" - beautiful song, written by Billy Steinberg and Rick Nowels for Real Mccoy.

House Mix of "Another Night" was Horrible, and I never liked it very much.

All the songs I listed above are Great and original, and most are written by J Wind, Jeglitza, and Quickmix for Real Mccoy.

Now there are also 3 covers, most of which I was not overly excited aoout, they should have written more origial songs, or kept some from the European edition.

"Come and Get Your Love" - a cover of a catchy song from 1970's IMO nothing too special.

"Oooh Boy" - also a cover of song from 1970's, IMO nothing too special.

"If you should ever be lonely" - also a cover, but a pleasant slow song. I liked it.

So I think this is a Great album, because it has many Great origianl songs, but I think they should have kept some of those tracks from the European version, instead of adding extra covers.

But it's a Must-Have album in any Pop or Dance or EuroDance collection. Great Album.

I Love This CD!
I enjoyed Aquarium, Aqua's first album. All the songs tended to sound kind of the same, but that was OK with me because I liked that sound. Having heard "Cartoon Heroes" before I bought Aquarius CD, I knew that I was going to like the CD. However, I never suspected just how much I'd like it. Musically, Aqua has grown quite a bit between its first and second CDs. The songs on Aquarius are much more diverse than the ones on Aquarium. Although the group is clearly moving into new territory, it hasn't abandoned what it knows how to do right: Recording songs that are both catchy and fun. (Not since the B-52s' last CD have I had as much fun listening to a CD.) Besides the songs themselves, I also got a lot of enjoyment from the photos in the CD jacket, which show the group members doing all sorts of space-hero stuff. I've also learned that for those with computers (and who reading this doesn't have one?), the CD has the "Cartoon Heroes" video on it. (I'll have to check that out as soon as I get home.) The bottom line: If you like music that's fun and catchy, I can't see how you wouldn't enjoy this CD.

Aquarius
Aquarius~ Aqua is a good second album from the danish group aqua. They are just as silly and stupid as on their debute album. They do not even try to be smart and I love it.

Great
I knew I needed this one after I had the first one and I love it so much. I went and got it and it was not a mistake all the songs on here are wonderful just like the ones on their first one. I think the songs rock and I listen to it so much I have to go and buy anther one because the songs on here are so good. My favorite is Back from Mars it is a very good song. It's funny to me but I love it neither the less.

Good like the first one
This album is simular to their first one, perhaps even better musically but it sold less then their great debut though. I don't know but only 3 songs were released on singles on the album, where of 2 became big selling in Europe. I think the reason they quit after this album was that they all had so many diffrent interests, they simply wanted to do something else. This album is more pure pop then their first one which was a mix between dance and pop. There is a good varity of songs here too.
