After a four year absense, BSB return with the single "Incomplete." Do not expect any drastic changes from their usual style. The guys have always stayed true to their pop roots and this is no exception although i do think that the instrumentals are better. Another striking thing about this single is AJ Mclean has never sounded better! This is highly recommnded for pop fans and be on the look out for the album "Never Gone" on June 14th.

*And to all those who figured the single would flop, it has made it to #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #6 on the Pop 100....Not too shabby and a definite comeback hit for the guys!

5-0 out of 5 stars The return of BSB

Mariah Carey's Eagerly Anticipated Album, "The Emancipation of Mimi" is Shaping Up to Be One of the Early Success Stories of 2005, as Its First Single Pick, "it's Like That," Written by Carey and Co-produced by Uber-producer Jermaine Dupri is Proving a Smash Hit at Us Radio. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Remixes Should Have Gone In a Different Direction
Although these remixes of "It's Like That" are definitely better than any remixes of Mariah's this side of the century (particularly the Charmbracelet-era remixes, which had no rerecorded vocals), they definitely leave a considerable amount to be desired.

David Morales has definitely worked wonders with Mariah's material in the past, but the simple fact is that his present-day efforts leave a great deal to be desired. The entire production of the Club Mix of the track, indeed, sounds a great deal similar to the awesome such mix that Morales did of "Dreamlover" for Mariah back in 1993 - a true signal that he has one foot too many stuck in the past. Most important, it renders hardly half the same listening pleasure.

Meanwhile, the Classic Mix is actually superior in quality, despite the fact that it sounds more similar to the Club Mix than it should, particularly in the first few minutes of the track. The reason it beats the quality of the Club Mix, however, is that the tempo is far more peppy and vibrant, carrying the song along without sounding as awkward as the Club Mix.

The biggest and most important problem with the Morales mixes, however, is the direction with which they take "It's Like That." A sharp track with a defiant, aggressive melody with lyrics to match, the song makes little sense reworked with this perky, fun-loving vibe. The unreleased Pounds Boy Main Mix of the track, which leaked on the internet almost as soon as the single hit radio, preserves the original attitude of the song, and, despite using the original vocals, sounds worlds better than Morales' mixes.

The "Stereo Experience," however, is a totally different deal. A deep, simple house mix moving at a slow-burn pace where her sped-up voice suddenly appears 2 minutes in, letting it stand stark and prominent admist the production, it serves as a unique treat. The lyrics and their meaning come across best as they possibly can in this light.

It should be noted, however, that the No Rap version sounds almost completely ridiculous without the company of Fat Man Scoop. The worst part is the ending where Mariah belts "here we go now what" all by her lonesome; nothing has ever sounded more awkward. This version is a complete waste of disc space.

The original LP version, of course, is certainly not. Having reached #16 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song became her 25th Top 20 hit. The aforementioned Morales mixes, however, currently stand at #2 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, which will most likely be their peak.

A final note: The fold-out bonus poster that comes with the single is definitely a real treat for the eyes of any red-blooded straight guy. It comes highly recommended that you take a look.

5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S LIKE THAT MUSIC FANS> MARIAH RULES!!!!
Great first single from the amazing new album 'The emancipation of mimi'! love the overall vibe this song gives! it just brings a smile to your face whenever you hear it!
    MARIAH RULES!!!!

    5-0 out of 5 stars MIMI'S BACK !!!!!
WHAT A GREAT PARTY SONG, MARIAH KNOW HOW TO BRING THE HOT BEATS...THE SECOND SINGLE WE BELONG TOGETHER IS BURNING UP THE CHARTS AND THE NEW ALBUM IS A #1 SMASH HIT.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its OK
Mariah would have done a better job singing Niveas hit with Lil Jon instead of this almost-wack song. Its an good song for a hip-hop club but it gets annoying on the radio (im not saying its BAD, but a bad choice for opening single). I enjoy We Belong Together a lot more. Mariah could have done a lot better for an opening club-like R&B track. I really think she could have had a bigger hit if she worked with Lil Jon, but thats just my opinion. I just bought her latest album so well see how that is. C+

4-0 out of 5 stars Diva In Tune
With so many different, younger acts out there that really seem to be manufactures these days, it is just too easy to forget about older divas like Vanessa Williams, Whitney Houston, and of course Mariah Carey. 2005 has so far proved to be a good time for her as her 15th anniversary comes into view. Her latest single, It's Like That, the first from The Emancipation of Mimi, is a very driven, hypnotic upbeat pop song that is one of her best in quite awhile. The song is very well put for Mariah, and her reflections for R&B & Hip Hop. Unlike Britney Spears, Ashnati, or Jennifer Lopez, Mariah has still maintained that vibe and still knows how to carry it out to the best of her voice.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Tokens turn the Weaver's "Wimoweh" into a doo wop hit
The song, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," was based on an South African Zulu folk song "Wimoweh" made popular by the classic folk group the Weavers in the 1950s. However, the Weavers were political in the best sense of the folk tradition and fell out of favor among the common folk who thought them Communist sympathizers of varying hues along the spectrum of the color red. However younger music listeners might remember Robert John's version of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," which made it to #3 on the Pop charts in 1972 and was included on the soundtrack for "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective."

The group, the Tokens, was a doo wop group out of Brooklyn, who originally included Neil Sedaka when they were known as the Linc-Tones (they were students at Lincoln High School). In the early 1960s the group was reformed by Hank Medress with Phil Margo, Mitch Margo, Joe Venneri, and Jay Siegel as the Tokens. In 1962 the Tokens recorded "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," which hit #1 on the Billboard Pop charts. It was far and away the biggest hit the Tokens ever had and this CD-Single basically includes the two songs that are arguably the best of the rest of their inventory. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and "La Bamba" were both off of the Token's debut album, while "You're Nothing But a Girl" was from a later 1966 release, "The Tokens Again." However, if you like doo wop, then my suggestion would be to pick up one of the three pretty solid collections of Tokens hits (e.g., "Wimoweh: The Best of the Tokens"). But if this song leads you to track down some of the recordings of the Weavers, that would be a thing of great good as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow
I heard this song -the lion- for the first time 20 years ago ( I was 4 years old)... And it is still spinning in my head!!! Only Bamba comes nearby in quality!!! therefor I give'em 5 stars. My heart is pounding EVERYTIME Tokens are in the radio!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Slug and Lettuce
This is song is played every Friday and Saturday night around 10:pm at the Slug and Lettuce, Fulham, London and it goes off once everyone has had a couple of pints. I've seen people re-enacting 'The Lions roar' from under tables, people climbing the poles, monkey style. It really does become a jungle!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Lion Sleeps Tonight
The Tokens did an incredible job on this one! I love the music, and the voices are awesome. 38 years later and it still is one of the best songs I've heard.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!!!
This woman sings this song so well I love to hear her sing this version of the Star Spangled Banner the words are so clear and voice so nicely high pitched and strong so anyone who likes the Star Spangled Banner purchase this single becasue Whitney really uses her vocal cords on this track this is a wonderful version of the "STAR SPANGLED BANNER" RAY CHARLES- SINGS THE BEST VERSION OF "AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL " IN MY EYES!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Brings back a memory
I bought this CD the first time I saw it. For years I had recalled hearing her sing the Star Spangled Banner live on TV during the Super Bowl, and wondered if I would ever hear her sing it again. The CD didn't have the impact of the original (how often do we remember a song sounding better than it actually did), but still is the best recorded version of our National Anthem that I have ever heard. I did hear R Kelly sing it live at an NBA game once, and if he has recorded that version, it would give this version a run for its money. His voice was awesome and he also stuck to the melody.

5-0 out of 5 stars STELLAR PERFORMANCE--Standard That Can't Be Beat
Few people actually recall the moment in history when this IMPECCABLE PERFORMANCE graced the lives of not only a few million ardent football fans in America, but also a significant contingent of members of the U. S. Armed Forces deployed to the Middle East, Operation Desert Storm, January 1991, for the liberation of the Emirate State of Kuwait. In the small hours of a winter morning throughout the Persian Gulf, many of us, then serving in the military, were treated to the live satellite transmission of what promised to be an exciting game: the NY Giants vs. the perennial SuperBowl favs, the Buffalo Bills. One week and a few days into the air campaign against the Republican Guard Iraqi ground forces, but after a full six months stationed "in theatre" with the greatest international Coallition Force ever assembled, our troops were war-weary and longing for home.

Nothing distinguishes Americans, nor unites them, quite like the hearing of their national anthem being played; usually, a mere single verse, with lyrics over two hundred years old, written amidst one of the heated battles of the Revolutionary War. Which other free societies actually sing, hand on heart or standing at attention, the words of their national anthem? What other people so love to be identified by something so simple as a melody and words about a flag? Who in the wide world are so proud a people as Americans regarding their national theme?

Whitney's superior performance, accompanied by the very capable Florida Orchestra in Tampa, signified a seminal moment in American popular music and a high standard for live musical performances (not to mention an immense showing of unsurpassed beauty and grace and natural talent she brought to the National Football League's annual soiree). Listen to this performance, and you will never quite accept anybody else's.

However, when Whitney sang our song to us, the American people, to the hundreds of thousands of us serving our nation, to help liberate another, half a world away, in that moment, she represented the best in all of us.

History will be very kind to Whitney, as well it should. Her voice is the mark of excellence. Her music, like the world's best art, is timeless, one of kind, and entirely irreplaceable. One will never go wrong with the music of Whitney Houston in one's collection. It's all a masterpiece. History will be good to Whitney, but history will have to wait. She has many more standards to offer.

By the work of Providence and the sacrifice of many excellent Americans, our Star-Spangled Banner yet waves. Kuwait is yet free. And for one stellar January evening, as two worthy teams met in friendly competition, when the rockets red-glared over the desert, we all heard Whitney sing to us, uniting us in a moment that will last forever, in a memory which will always preserve the best in all of us. 07/19/04

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice.......But Beyonce's Version Is Better
If You watched Super Bowl xxxvii(i think thats it...lol), Beyonce's rendition of the National Anthem was flawless. I was AMAZING!! It literally brought chills to mt spine. I highly reccomend her version................

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!
I was compeltely blown away, hearing this for the first time. Nobody can sing better than Whitney, and nobody will ever. This is a great rendition. 10/10 ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I Have Faith In Kylie...
I am writing this review because I just heard "I Believe In You" and I think it's the best Kylie song I've ever heard. This song is unbelievable, it's got an awesome groove to it, but it's, dare I say it, beautiful. Kylie's voice sounds amazing, and the music is just awesome. If she records a new album like this, I would die. The song is dance, but it's beautiful dance. But it's fun and energetic at the same time. I can't describe it. The production is just incredible! It so surpasses what she's done in the past few years, my faith in Kylie is definitely restored. Buy this just for "I Believe In You", I've never heard the remixes, but I'd gladly drop $15 just for that song. I hope she keeps up with material like this. I read somewhere that members of the Scissor Sisters produced it, I really hope they do a whole album like this with Kylie!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great songs, disappointing remixes
My favorite new band, the Scissor Sisters, have hooked Kylie up with a first-class disco song on "I Believe I You."Jake Shears & Babbydaddy have concocted a knock-out piece of ear candy that captures all the elements of a great Kylie song- it's light, fun, minimalistic, & very Euro-disco.Imagine Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" re-produced by Pet Shop Boys.Like her 2003 single, "Slow," the song is so simplistic it's barely even there.Yet after 2 or 3 listens, you won't be able to deny its presence in your head.

The non-album track, "B.P.M" is a nice addition to the Kylie catalog- an energetic, upbeat dance track that could have sat comfortably on either of her last 2 albums.

As for the 2 remixes here, they are both mediocre. The Mylo vocal mix actually cuts out the chorus of the song & the Skylark mix is almost completely vocal-less, baring almost no resemblance to the original song.Pointless.

The video is included on this disc & mirrors the concept of the song:less is more.Kylie is simply standing inside a lighted globe, performing the song, looking as gorgeous as ever.Nothing groundbreaking, but fun if you're a fan.

So- skip the remixes & enjoy the rest!

    5-0 out of 5 stars great song.......unbelievable......
kylie minogue is one of the most underrated female singers of the new millenium.... she is ever changing, beautiful, and a great singer... the public (especially in america) should embrace more dance artist like her)....

anyways, 'i believe in you' is one of her best tracks of all time....i am so glad that she tagg teamed with the scissor sisters to make this track shine...

the remixes are great as well.... she is like the queen of remix.... but the remixes do not light a candle to the original version...

get the album if you love kylie.... but if you like the song get this song.... the first great dance song of 2005

4-0 out of 5 stars A GOOD SINGLE ... But Remixes are AVERAGE...
I have to admit when I first heard about her new single which was released together with her ULTIMATE KYLIE x2 CD collection to date. It was so infectious and something new compared to her last album. We now see her moving into something like Pop/Techno/hip-hop together on one track. As this track is also co-written by the Scissors Sisters. This song could rush back to those late 70's and 80's club rythmn's. The remixes are okay but could've been better. BUT they are not bad at all. I think they are just filler remixes. But anyway. A good buy if your a kylie fan. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars White Flag- Single
This song is a beautiful and strong love song that has a message that the person singing will be in love with the subjct until she dies and she will not give up on the love, even though she does not expect or feel like she deserves a second chance. Dido has a very wonderful voice. This song will be a big hit and it is one of those songs you find yourself humming the very day after the first time you have heard it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dido continues to be marvelous modern chanteuse
It would not be accurate to say that Dido 'burst' on to the music scene in late 2000 with her album "No Angel", because album had been on the market for two years already. However, thanks to hip-hop superstar Eminem sampling Dido's song "Thank You" on his own hit song "Stan", people began clamoring for the identity of that haunting voice in the background of "Stan". They discovered that that voice belonged to Dido and her album "No Angel" was readily available for purchase. That album introduced fans to such musical gems as "Here With Me", "Hunter", and the full version of "Thank You". Album sales soared and fans waited for the next production from Ms. Dido Armstrong.

It took a while, but Dido has returned with the first single of her new album "Life for Rent" called "White Flag". It should be noted that the themes that run through Dido's songs are love, self-introspection, and co-dependency bordering on obsession. The wonderful "White Flag" is lyrically similar to its cousin "Here With Me" in that is lamenting a lost love and pining for a return to that love. Musically, it has elements of both "Here With Me" and "Hunter". As with those songs, the musical arrangement for "White Flag" is lush and full, but defers to the true power of this music, Dido's haunting vocals. "White Flag" is a strong start to what can only be hoped to be another big hit album in "Life For Rent". Hopefully, there is still much, much more to come from this beautiful and talented woman.

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 Great Songs
"White Flag" is a great melodic single. Though it is very catchy is has shown "wearing qualities". Dido has very special way of singing - easily recognizeable. Her style at times might remind you of early Suzanne Vega. The second track "Paris" is a quiet moving song about a sad trip to Paris. What exactly went wrong the story does not tell; maybe that's what makes the story even more moving.

The final track "The Johnny Toobad Mix" does not do anything for me - I find it pretty tiresome!

4-0 out of 5 stars I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP....
White Falg is another of those lyric driven songs, that don't failed to entertaint the audience, the story of unconditional love is represented here, with simple voice, and simple music arragenments, great tune and a great sophomore start for her new album, the extra track it's ok, and the mix is only neccesary but not an essential.

5-0 out of 5 stars First class track!
Dido's first single off her new album is simply outstanding! She sticks with her winning formula of sweet vocals, subtle beats and touching lyrics and it's a success once again!

Although some may criticise Dido for being too "same same" one listen of "White Flag" will really make you appreciate her unique sound. Why would you ever want to go for a different sound when the current is so movingly fantastic? The thing with Dido is that you honestly believe what she is singing about. This, I believe, is the sign of a true artist!

Track two is a non album track, which is a real treat for the fans! "Paris" could easily have been included as a track on the album. The simple guitar ensures the focus remains on Dido's vocals and lyrics. Such a sad tale of love, Dido adds a real, believable emotion to a beautiful ballad to make it what it is.

The "Johnny Toobad remix" is an unfortunate addition which left me both appreciating the original version of "White Flag" and wondering why a ballad must be transformed into a remix. They are ballads for a reason! Don't let this put you off though as "Paris" is enough reason to purchase this one! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Music for a Great Cause
It's nice to see Elvis Presley back on Billboard's Top 10 singles chart with his stirring 1975 rendition of "America the Beautiful." This live recording was originally released as the B-side of his posthumous 1977 hit "My Way" and has remained an obscure Presley track - until now. Since the proceeds from this CD will benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, it's an Elvis disc worth having.

5-0 out of 5 stars This IS Beautiful!
I got this disc just today and I know that If I Can Dream shows peace and unerstanding which I give 4 1/2 stars to, America The Beautiful shows the real America. As a very well-known song,I'd give it 5 stars. And Amazing Grace is about one of his most well known Gospel songs because it's one of the top 5 in my opinion, 5 stars to that. The video, it shows Elvis singing in '68 Special with real feeling and the video looks great, 5 Stars To the video! Overall, [the price] even with the tax and shipping is a quarter of what should really paid for this great CD, An Awsome Buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
Elvis puts so much feeling into these songs and the video part of "If I can dream" is really great.A must for anyone.

3-0 out of 5 stars Viva America
This is Elvis at his Vegas best, full orchestration and the backup choir(s). Nice version of America The Beautiful - I bought this CD 'cause I like Elvis and got tired of hearing the Ray Charles version of the song. A decent "collector" piece and money goes to a good cause.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and so emotive
I love Bette Middler, her voice is out of this world, it is so powerful and strong and yet so gentle and the lyrics are heartfelt, some of us are lucky enough to have someone who is "their wind beneath their wings," and it is only when we loose them do we understand what a song like this is saying.

The film "Wind Beneath my Wings" appears in is great too, who can forget Beaches, with its many memorable songs, this being the theme song, and though I know the song has been around for a lot longer than the film, it certainly epitomises the essence of love, friendship and loss.

Sadly some people are very scathing about "Wind Beneath my Wings," not Amazon Critics as I can see but recently it was voted in the UK as "one of the most irritating songs" ever written which I thought was really far too harsh and unfair.

Despite this damning poll it has my vote, and I will play it until the cows come home and enjoy every emotional minute of it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Touching for an 13 year old girl and anyone else.
Bette Middler's Wind Beneath My Wings has not only touched me but my whole family as well. My close aunt taught me the song when I was young and I have loved it forever. Our family sang it all the time on karioke and just when we were enjoying ourselves. Just thins year my aunt and cousin were murdered in Columbus Ne. It was the most terrible thing possible ever done. The song Wind Beneath My Wings was played at their funeral and it touched everyone. They all knew this was here favorite song and would always remember her by it. I know I will. My aunt was the wind beneath my wings. I cry everynight still and it was way back on March 23. I don't think I will ever get over it. I don't really talked about it much. I feel this song is perfect for her in many ways. I want to follow in her footsteps and become a registered nurse just like her. If I ever make it that far she will be there with me the entire time guiding me and protecting me. She will hold me up there just as she is still doing this very moment. I love her and I have always told her that I would someday meet Bette Midler with her but now I can't. My uncle is very sad but he has me and he refures to me as the wind beneath his wings. I hope this gets out to you. Jenny

This song is so sad and beautiful! It just brings me to tears! It makes me remember of when my cousin died back in 1992 in a car crash. They played this song at his funeral. He was only 17 years old.

Get one wiff of the Thick Vocal Mix of Do Something on the dance floor and you will do nothing but succumb to the rock driven remix of this punchy, and always trademark Brit sexiness cut.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not "hatin'" on Britney but I HATE this song!!!!!
While I realize that a lot of people bash Britney over everything from her music to her social conduct, it can get irritating reading all of these senseless review written by a bunch of idiots who obviously don't even listen to the type of music which Britney falls into but only come on the forum to spew their garbage. However, I am not writting this to bash on Britney, as I own just about everything she has put out and went to her concert in 2004.I am writting this honestly to express my distaste in this particular song which was originally not released on In The Zone. When I listen to this I can understand why some of these Britney bashers would say the things they say.The lyrics to this song are deplorable."Give me a guitar so I can look like a star" is one of the lyrics that stands out in my memory. When I first heard this song I thought it was awful and the second time I could not finish it.THIS IS THE FIRST BRITNEY SONG I HAVE done this with!!!
Ok, now I did give "OOPS I Did it Again" a one star rating but that song grew on me and is actually a cute and fun song with the exception of the interlude in the middle with all the spoken dialog.Such will not be the case here. This is trully a stupid song and I think that it will only give the bashers more ammo to keep up their tirades, unfortunately this time they have a legit reason.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This song is really one of her best TRacks, it's even better than My prerogative

5-0 out of 5 stars You better do something!
Britney Spears, who is a mom-to-be, has released her fantastic second single from her greatest hits album. It was a Top Ten hit in the UK, where the radio stations played this tune nonstop. It's so easy to see why everybody loves Britney: great singer, wonderful personality, and so much talent. You need to get this, like, now!

4-0 out of 5 stars Original is best
I love Emma Shapplin. I first heard these songs on her cd Carmine Meo and honestly I like the version on that CD best. Probably as i'm not a big techno fan, if you're wanting a dance song it's great, if your wanting beauty buy Carmine Meo. In my humble opinion. :-)...
PS I wish she'd tour here. I think she'd be a hit in Austin.

4-0 out of 5 stars Opera goes Trance
This cd maxi single includes the "Yomanda Remix" of Emma Shaplin's "Spente Le Stelle" which is getting lots of radio play down here in South Florida. It's unusual to hear an opera singer singing over a trance track - it is catchy to say the least. For those who don't care for the vocal version there's also an instrumental version which is also nice. Both mixes are over 6 minutes in length. It might take several listens to enjoy and accept this song (it did for me) and appreciate it for what it is. I just hope this isn't going to be a new trend in trance music. Recommended.

2-0 out of 5 stars save some cash
the store bought beats sound like something i have heard at every club ive been to, at least for 1 and 2, track 3 is the only one worth listening to on this cd, this girl has a great voice and im sure her solo stuff is good but with the junkyard beats this cd just isnt worth listening to

5-0 out of 5 stars You must have this
Title track is a must-have for anyone who likes club music! I've been searching for this for years!! This track is orgasmic, and more!!! Emma Shapplin's haunting voice blended with strings, and amazing club beats created the perfect combination of sound that would hypnatize you. The other track "Cuor Senza Sangue" is not nearly as good. But you have to have "Spente le Stelle"!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice

5-0 out of 5 stars Elvis in the 21st century!
FINALLY, someone has brought Elvis Presley into the 21st Century! This is such a neat sound and a great remix of an old Elvis song. There is nothing that "dates" Elvis more than the backing of his singing and in this day & age a whole new treatment can be given to update Elvis and bring him into the 21st century. A whole new generation can enjoy this great voice/entertainer without compromising the original recordings for those diehard leave-it-as-it-was fans. I hope that BMG & the Elvis Presley Enterprise people realise, with the huge success of this one single, that a whole new era of hits could start all over again for Elvis Presley and his singing career could be launched for another 25 years. I hope they see the possibilities that there are here. Imagine a whole full length CD of modern updated Elvis music. I think people would be queing to buy it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars ELVIS HAS RETURNED TO THE BUILDING
If someone had told me, that there was to be a remixed version of an Elvis Presley song released, and it would be a smash around the world, I would have told them to keep taking the pills. It aint gonna happen !
    BUT thank heaven it did.
The song is an obscure track, originally recorded for his 1968 film "Live A Little, Love A Little". This version, however is from his 1968 comeback show, which was never actually used in the broadcast. It also featured on the Oceans Eleven soundtrack, earlier this year.
The Dutch DJ "Junkie" XL has bought the tune right up to date with a driving beat and thumping bongo drums which compliment Elvis superbly.
You have 3 versions on the CD the radio edit, the extended version which builds to a superb climax and the original 1 min 39 second version taken from the film. Having this on there just shows you exactly what has been done to bring this tune right up to date.
I can understand that there will be some segments of the Elvis community who will bemoan that messing around with any Elvis track is sacrilege, but, if this is the only way to get new fans listening to Elvis, then I for one am fully behind it.
BMG and NIKE have a lot to thank for allowing this song to be used on the new advert for the Soccer World Cup which has obviously bought the song to a much wider audience than would normally have heard it.
This is number one in many European countries and rightly so. Elvis has definately returned to the building !

    5-0 out of 5 stars Don't procrastinate, don't articulate
I love this update mix of a forgotten Elvis classic. It sounds really contemporary and if it will get younger people interested in the King, I'm all for it. Some people may not approve of remixing an Elvis song, but if the results are like this, I'm not gonna complain. Of course, this song was included on 30 # 1 Hits, but you have to get the single to get the six minute 12" Extended Remix. Too much of a good thing? Not as far as I'm concerned. It should be pointed out that the third version included here is not the original version from Live a Little, Love a Little. It's the version recorded for, but not used in, the '68 Comeback Special. This version was the one that was used by JXL in his remixes.

5-0 out of 5 stars A little less conversation, a lot more The King
In a scene from "Pulp Fiction" that never made it into the theaters Mia Wallace (as played by Uma Thurman) referred to the dichotomy of Beatles people vs. Elvis people--you can like them both, but you always like one more than the other. I've always considered myself a committed Beatles person, but if DJ Junkie XL has his way with more forgotten Elvis tunes I may have to reconsider my entire belief system!

I'll be the first to admit that I ain't no dancer, yet it's impossible to keep still to the two remixed versions of "A Little Less Conversation" included on this disc. JXL took a decent if unremarkable song that Elvis performed in the psychedelia-influenced (albeit without the drugs!) 1968 film "Live a Little, Love a Little" and turned it into something that works 35 years later. A remarkable feat in itself, and a fitting tribute to The King (whose talent also had something to do with it...).

Even the very sparse-sounding original version included as Track 3 has a nice groove to it, though it clocks in at just over 1:30 and seems a bit cut off at the end (I don't remember if the song ended so abruptly in the film). It is a pleasure to hear all three versions of the song included on this disc, which allowed me to better appreciate the contributions of both artists to "A Little Less Conversation".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great new remix expands ELV1S fan base
Great remix of a lesser known song has brought new found respect to a whole new generation. The song went number one in dozens of countries. I cant wait for the next remix. ELV1S recorded dozens of great songs that most people dont know about. BMG should keep remixing lesser known songs and releasing them to introduce ELV1S to millions of new fans all over the world. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't start giving you up
The Ultimate Kylie album had spinned off 2 singles. I Believe In You (2004) & the latest and surely Giving You Up (2005). This single includes 3 remixes and a B-Side "Made of Glass" (which would of been a perfect single). In my opinion, I recommend the Giving You Up single over I Believe In You. Here's my review below:

1.) Giving You Up (Album/Single Version) (5/5) 3:31 - This is the original song recorded on the Ultimate Kylie Disc 2. The lyrics are strong an sensual and her vocals are lustful and sexy. This song is a retro 80s, pop floorfiller. The lyrics "What you want is what you don't know/turn me on and watch your ego." Beautifully recorded and well done.

2.) Giving You Up (Alter Ego Remix) (5/5) 8:02 - The best remix on the single. It has techno/house/and Hi-NRG all in one song. The vocals are present, faster and sound more "clearer" and is definitely a dancefloor to the radio friendly Friday night mix.

3.) Giving You Up (Riton Re-Rub Vox) (4/5) 6:32 - This remix is very unusual. It lifts up to it's name with the rubbish techno-rave beats and re-rubbed vocals. This song stays to the original but more so like an "extended mix" to the album version. The vocals are "dubbish" which hence the name "Re-Rub Vox". Not as versitle and likeable as the "Alter Ego Remix" but is an alternative.

4.) Giving You Up (Riton Re-Rub Dub) (3/5) 6:32 - Simply an instrumental track to the Riton Re-Rub Vox, but with lesser vocals. The beat and content of the song is still the same.

5.) Made Of Glass (B-Side) (5/5) 3:13 - This track was recorded during the Ultimate Kylie sessions, but decided not to release the song on her compliation. Some of Kylie's fans are disappointed because it should of been released as a single of it's own. This is the best song of the single because of it's heart felt lyrics and it's "unexplained" beat. It's definitely pop, and is more maturely written. The vocals are at her stronges on her, even though her vocals drag. The track has lyrics like "Love makes the world go round/I hold it in my hands/but it slips away/and I watch it fade." This song can be read in different ways. That's what makes this song Made of Glass. It's defintely a treasure.

This single is more versitle than the "I Believe In You". The only downfall to the new singles are the remixes. Her most noticeable remixes like "Slow (Chemical Brothers Remix) and "Love At First Sight (The Beauty & The Best Vocal Mix)" are definitely not fulfilled here. I give this single 5 stars =)

3-0 out of 5 stars Remixes Undermine Another Genius Single
The second single from ULTIMATE KYLIE finds Minoguecollaborating with Sugababes/Girls Aloud masterminds Xenomania, and the results are typically brilliant.Every bit as good as the previous "I Believe In You", "Giving You Up" has a little more of a funk bassline undercurrent than the eighties synth-laden "..Believe..".Not surprisingly, bonus outtake "Made Of Glass" continues the Minogue tradition from previous singles of the "b-sides" being as strong as the primary single. What drags this particular single down, and in fact a many of Minogue's recent singles, are the lazy remixes, both essentially vocal-free and ultimately detracting rather than enhancing the track. This would be an easy five star effort if not for that.

A deep, simple house mix moving at a slow-burn pace where her sped-up voice suddenly appears 2 minutes in, letting it stand stark and prominent admist the production, the track serves as a unique treat.

5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S LIKE THAT MUSIC FANS> MARIAH RULES!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
I love this CD. It is a good compilation. The only thing is that the last track on the CD is supposed to be the video for White Flag and it doesn't show. I would have loved to have the song on video also. So beware of this flaw when purchasing this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dido - White Flag Cd Single
This is the domestic release of 'White Flag' (Radio Edit) by Dido, it also has 'Stoned' (Deep Dish remix radio edit) and 'Paris'. Neat Cd single with the video of 'White Flag' for computer users. Since I usually buy 2 copies of cd singles, I really don't care about making another copy for whatever purpose, I don't think this is a big deal. I also have this on 12" vinyl single (domestic) which has the scumfrog remix. As well as the 12" version of 'Stoned' remixed by Deep Dish on side B. The Import 12" uk version has the Beginerz remix of 'White Flag' (for which I also have) I only wish AMAZON can carry vinyl as well. Dont' really care much for the import version of this cd single , when you can get this single for much less as a domestic!

1-0 out of 5 stars Watch Out For The Copy Protection!!!
First of all, here's the tracklisting:

    01 White Flag (Radio Edit)
02 Stoned (Deep Dish Remix) (Radio Edit)
    03 Paris

I'm guessing that Arista must be encouraging illegal downloading after issuing this CD single. If you are a person who just listens to his/her music on a regular home stereo/CD player, then this CD will work just fine. However, if you are a person who wants to take these tracks in full digital quality and convert them to wav or mp3 files, then do NOT buy this!

The CD will only play on the computer if you install a program which only allows you to listen to the songs in a poor 128 kbps bitrate protected Windows Media Audio file! Blah! I'm picky about sound quality, so I expected to be able to rip my own mp3's with this CD, just for 2 tracks: Stoned (Deep Dish Remix - Radio Edit) and Paris - both of which are unavailable on her album, 'Life For Rent.' That's the whole reason I bought the CD single. Now it's useless to me!!! I wanted to add the files to my iTunes playlist but can't now. My only choice is that horrible Windows Media file! When I try to play the songs on my iTunes player or on my computer, they skip horribly!

Now I'm left to download these tracks illegally so I can play them on my iTunes playlist in my desired quality! Good thinking BMG/Arista! I won't be buying another one of your copy protected singles again. Instead, I'll save my time (and money) and look for them for free! Let's hope they don't start using this technology on their full CD albums or else I might be getting all my music for free now. Smart thinking Arista!

With that said, it's good to see a CD single in stores. But at what cost? Your own personal freedom to rip and burn your own compilations and playlists. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best selections seldom heard
Sometimes I have to wonder who actually decides which selections will comprise an artist's album. You Still Touch Me was on Mercury Falling. What I can't figure is why the remaining songs on this extended single were not there as well. Recorded at about the same time, they include a tender evening melody, a bucaneer's lament, and a marvelous tale of musician's failure- played in 7. If choices had to be made, any one of these three would have been preferable to so much of the Tennessee-tinged offerings that ultimately found their way onto the larger album. While You Still Touch Me, for example, is enjoyable, it is bathed in the all-too-familiar and unoriginal STAX-Booker T. & the MGs sound; the other songs on this CD, however, are more authentically Sting in character---inventive, sensitive and ironic---and continue the kind of rewarding explorations he so bravely initiated first in Soul Cages, then in Ten Summoner's Tales. As it happens, I discovered this treasure only recently by chance. A stunning gem, its worth has been unforgivably obscured. It deserves to be heard.

5-0 out of 5 stars Too good for radio!
All four of these songs are amazing! "You Still Touch Me" is an upbeat track included on the album "Mercury Falling". "Twenty-Five to Midnight" is an equally impressive song with a similar tempo. The two remaining tracks on this CD are simply beautiful. "Lullaby to an Anxious Child" implies an almost classical music style with beautifully dark sounding melody. "Pirate's Bride", one of my favorite Sting songs, is arguably the most brilliantly crafted song ever recorded. Every part of the melody is perfect. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of romantic tragedy. A piano adds some classical and jazz subtleties to this beautiful masterpiece.

5-0 out of 5 stars Contains one of the Master's BEST songs - EVER!
Contained herein, are three "non-album" gems: "Lullabye to an Anxious Child", "25 to Midnight", and one of Sting's all-time great tunes, "The Pirate's Bride"! Why these were not included on "Mercury Falling" is a mystery! Although that album is good in it's own right, it would be a classic had it contained these songs; or at least "Lullaby" & "Pirate"! "Lullable" is an acoustic, 2 minute affair, in which Sting pleads to a restless child to relax so it's mom can "unwind". It sounds stupid - but as always with Sting, it works wonderfully. It's an adorable, heartleft song. Sting's vocals on this song are soft & very soothing - perfectly accenting the lyrics! The gem of the cd, "Pirate's Bride" is phenomenal. It's an ultra-romantic song that words cannot describe. Musically, it almost reminds me of something from "The Soul Cages" era! The soft piano during the 'fade-out' is Sssoooooo emotional.....

5-0 out of 5 stars Some of Sting's Best songs
I first heard "The Pirate's Bride" several years ago while driving home late one night. It's haunting lyrics and piano accompaniment moved me so - I couldn't forget it! I searched for six months to find this CD, since it was not on the "Mercury Falling CD. Now that's it's easily avaible through Amazon, I've bought a copy for special friends. Two of the other three remaining songs on the single are also not on Mercury Falling, (which in my opinion, would have been a MUCH better release if these songs were included!) This single showcases Sting at his best. You won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the purchase
This cd max is a fantastic sampler of Sting's style and poetry. Frankly, You Still Touch Me is the least interesting song on the cd! A little sweet, a little mournful, a little jazzy, this cd is a must-have for any Sting fan, and something a unique from the rest of his albums. I got this quite a while back, and I haven't taken it out of my cd changer yet. Pirate's Bride is unbelievably haunting.... How does he think of these things? ... Read more

WHOM ELSE BUT, ELVIS PRESLEY COULD HAVE A NO.#1 HIT AFTER HE'S BEEN GONE FOR 25 YEARS!! ALL OVER THE ENTIRE WORLD IT WAS A BIG #1 HIT SONG!! MEMPHIS WAS ROCKING FOR SURE DURING ELVIS WEEK IN TENN. HIS MUSIC IS BEING BOUGHT PLUS IT'S THE BEST MUSIC---STILL AFTER ALL THESE YEAR'S SO LET'S GIVE THE MAN THE CREDIT HE DOES SO DESERVE....... THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. B.J.F.

5-0 out of 5 stars Elvis does it again!!!
Ignore the "racist" rubbish that inevitably gets posted by those with a chip on their shoulder and listen to the music - IT Kicks BUTT!!!! I also can not believe this did not get the airplay it deserved, especially after hitting no. 1 in a squillion different countries around the world.

By the way, BB King, James Brown and Muhummud Ali were Elvis' friends. I don't think they would appreciate being called fools, not to mention the late Sammy Davis Jnr and Jackie Wilson (who's hospital bills Elvis paid for by the way after his stroke - not exactly the actions of a racist)

I will not write a review only for this album, which is also great, but to Elvis in everything he did and represented.I am 23 now and I've been listening to his music for exactly thirteen and a half years now.He changed my life,my way of thinking and everything I was,am,or ever will be.I've cried, smiled, made love and started singing in public because of Elvis. If I had only one wish in the world it would be to spend atleast a week talking to him.I've discovered everything I know in this world with him in the CD player or somewhere in my head and just want to say one thing to him:"Goodbye my friend I wont forget you,if I need you I can hear you.King though I dont know where or when there'll be a day we'll meet again.".

4-0 out of 5 stars The King Would Dig It
I'm a big fan of the King's, but let's be real--the production and arrangements on some of his later work didn't always do him any favors. I think it's a testimony to the long-term survivability of his work that you can take a couple of lesser-known songs like "A Little Less Conversation" and "Rubberneckin'" and update them so handsomely. I bought both as singles, each with the original, radio remix and extended dance mix, and they're both an awful lot of fun. Junkie XL's approach is funkier and more imaginative than Oakenfield's "Rubberneckin'," but that' one's still pretty fun. No doubt there'll be more of this and we'll all get sick of it eventually, but for now I say, "Thank you. Thank you very much." ... Read more
