Excellent
I don't know if one person is allowed to submit more than one review of the same CD, but seeing as it's been five months since my previous commentary and no one else has written anything, I have more to add:

The reading of "The Tell-Tale Heart" in particular is a masterpiece. Most readings of that particular story I have heard are either underdone or overdone, but this one is medium RARE. Perfectly done! Every little vocal inflection by the reader was inexpressably PERFECT!! Every little tiny morsel from his voicebox is a treat to the ears. Poe's masterpiece combined with the reader's equally powerful reading make that particular story the definitive reading of it in the 150-odd years since it was written. Absolutely amazing!

Excellent!
When I bought "Tales From Beyond" this past Halloween, I was amazed. The CD was my first exposure to the macabre world of Edgar Allan Poe. I listened to the first three tracks of the CD, engrossed in the perfectly-done adaptations of "Premature Burial", "The Pit and the Pendelum" and "The Telltale Heart". I thought the actors chosen to recite those famous short stories were excellent, and their voices perfectly suited the narration. I am dissapointed, though, that only the first three tracks were Poe and that they wasted the rest of the space with typical Halloween-tape sound effects and so on. Where the Bare Bones-produced Halloween Horror: Scary Sounds from the Hex Files starts off creepily slow and grows to periodic climaxes, Screamin' Halloween Sounds begins with the slam of broken glass and flies high from the first bang. The recurring sounds revolve around a growling--and genuinely freaky--voice that hovers in front of a melange of crashes and screams. There are wicked bells and the click of frightening steps approaching and wind whistling and lots more cage-rattling near-chaos. And like other Bare Bones productions, the 73 minutes of sounds are all gathered into one track. It differs from Halloween Horror, though, in one key way: the growly voice walks the listener through the imaginary landscape of horror, heading "downstairs" to the dismay of the witnesses on the CD, introducing key phases, etc. This is a nice touch, adding skeletal narrative. FINALLY a Halloween CD For Those Out of Preschool
After buying over 9 Halloween CDs looking for something to put a
genuine scare into you, at last something really good comes out.
Screamin' Halloween Sounds fills up the whole CD, and has an amazing "guide" that will chill you with a roaring laugh that never comes out forced, or fake, or cheesy; unlike SO many others that leave you flat. It has lots of black humor interlaced into it as well, and it suddenly comes at you with various lines like, "I will be with you forever...and ever...and ever...AND EVER!! Bwa ha ha ha ha!!!" and "If you don't do as I say, I'll feed you to the wolves!" And yes, yes, it's not made for little toddlers or the thin-skinned, but if you're ready for something besides Rated-G material for Halloween, this one is a real winner. This CD has strong influences from the movie Hellraiser and other horror flicks.
I played this out of my home's windows with blue lights, strobe lights, scary props and a fog machine. The results were spectacular, and the trick-or-treaters loved it.

Run screaming from this CD!
Halloween soundtracks should be fun, chilling and maybe a little campy - like the soundtrack to and old Universal monster movie. This CD had too many sounds of children and babies in distress. That's not fun, that's unnerving.

Great for Gore Haunts
This CD is a bunch of sound clips from the movie Hellraiser and I think some of the 2nd one ... Hellbound.

I used it in my home haunt in Dr. Lou NaTick's Lab. This is not for the kiddies. Most of the sounds where very un-nerving.

I think this is one of the best Sound F/X CD's I have bought.

not good for me
this cd is ok except it has children and babies crying through out it. i don't like those sounds. it's just not proper to play outside on halloween night. halloween is supposed to be kind of fun scary but those cries on the cd just turned me off. i recommend "scary sounds of halloween" on k-tel.

Great companion for my budgie
I just received this cd and it is doing exactly what I had hoped for, it is entertaining my budgie parakeet.Tonga has not stoppped chirping since I put the cd on.I will use this cd to act as a virtual companion for mybird while I am away from the house for long periods of time. dissapointed listener
This CD was very dissappointing. I expected to hear gently crashing waves with a sea gull backround. I didn't hear any sea gulls and the waves sounded like they were crashing in a hurricane,very loud...I had to turn it off after 15 minutes because it gave me a headache

Great for insomniacs and people with stress
This was my 2nd attempt at buying an environmental CD and I am extremely pleased! Being an insomniac I found this to help me fall asleep quickly and have a soothing and restful nights sleep. The sounds of the waves crashing against the shore were very realistic except for maybe a few spots here and there. The sound quality is excellent. It has little to no 'static' throughout the whole CD. The Sea Gulls in the background were just that, in the background.

If you are looking for a nature CD that makes you feel like you are at the ocean, THIS IS IT! I have also found it to be helpful with my stress after a long day at work dealing with the public. ... Read more

Not Bad, Not The Best
I enjoy sleeping to the various Magic Moods CDs. Of all the ones I have, this one is the one I can't sleep to. Some of the birds have a piercing squawk that's not going to let you sleep. I find that this one is not edited as well as some of the others. Still, it's not all bad. I don't regret having it in my collection but it is the least played of my collection.

Animal House South
Dense with the cries of animals, birds, and insects, this makes me feel more like I am trapped on the Ark on about the fifteenth day than that I am in a jungle. If you like this sort of noise, good for you. Would you like to buy my hardly played copy? I would rather the livestock had been spaced with the air sounds of a jungle for a more realistic feel. ... I Only Like The Environmental Sounds.
Ths was a CD I got when I was younger, it's one of those things you either buy or get as a present and it's ok once but than the novelty wears off! Enjoyable but not for everyone
There are four discs that come in this collection. They are Atlantis, Stonehenge, Incas and Pharaohs. Each discs is different in style of composing and "instruments" used. I don't know if the instruments are electronic or if some are actual musical instruments. Some of the songs get lengthy (6 minutes or over) and sometimes I was annoyed by the sudden "jazzy" instrumentation that ruined a serene moment in the music. It is said that music like this tends to sound all the same after a while, but I think that each disc and each song for that matter has its own personality. I recommend this collection for people who are more used to (and like) the New Age music genre, or who like instrumental music. However, people who are not used to New Age or instrumental music may not like this album, so depending upon your likes and dislikes and your previous musical experiences, you'll have to decide for yourself. Personally, I liked the collection and have purchased another collection of the same "brand" (although I didn't like it hardly as much as I liked this one, but that's another story).

This CD is the best; I liked every track. If your a fan of new age music; then, this is the Cd you must buy. The Cd covers the cultures of ancient Egypt, the Stonehenge mystery, the lose city of Atlantis and the culture of the Incas--all for a very low price.
