5-0 out of 5 stars "They call me 'Rubberneck!'"
Now, this is a hilarious album that brings back memories. While going through my ridiculously large CD collection, I stumbled upon this gem. I hadn't listen to it for a long time, so I decided to take a stroll down memory lane. And what a great stroll it was! "The Jerky Boys" is one of those priceless classics that can never be duplicated. This was the album that introduced the world to two hilarious pranksters and their amazing creations.

Let's face it, anybody can do a prank call. It's not that hard to do. However, that does not mean that anybody can do a GOOD prank call. These guys are improv geniuses, and they can never know what to expect. Great characters like the annoyed and always ticked off Frank Rizzo, or the always injured and paranoid Sol Rosenberg. There's the openly... er... "happy" Jack Tor S who is always looking for a whacky job. And who can forget Tarbash; the Egyptian Magician and an unfortunate victim of dental malpractice. That's only to name a few.

Since this is the very first album from the Jerky Boys, all of their characters were still not yet fully developed or completely solid, but they each showed overwhelming promise. You knew that we would be hearing more from these characters in the future, and of course that is what happened. Still, this album is absolutely hilarious and never seems dated. The two most developed and memorable characters are Frank Rizzo and Sol Rosenberg. Even years later, this album still had the power to make me laugh as if I were hearing it all for the first time.

It goes without saying, this album isn't intended for those who get offended easily. Lots of profanity and adult humor can be found on almost every track. While I pretty much enjoy every call, my favorites are "irate tile man," "laser surgery," "sol's glasses," "car salesman," "super across the way," "the home wrecker," "dental malpractice," "hurt at work," "firecracker mishap," "punitive damages," "piano tuner," and everybody's favorite, "uncle freddie."

"The Jerky Boys" is one of those classics that will never seem dated or tiring. It's always funny and outright hysterical. If you haven't checked these guys out, then this would be a great introduction to them. There may be a bunch of wannabes in the world, but we all know that there can only be one Frank Rizzo! Now, go grab your toolbox and enjoy these calls, Jerky! -Michael Crane

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't be a Jerky Fan without it.
The first Jerky Boys cd is the perfect intro to their "art". Johnny B and Kamal are halarious on this one. This is the first one I heard and I just bought the rest as they came out. I heard about these guys in high school around the same time Sandler's "Laugh at you" cd came out. I knew I had to see what the deal was and bought the record without ever hearing them first. I wasnt disappointed but impressed. I find it side splitting today and laugh myself to sleep many nights listening to the calls. Buy it, in the words of Jack Tors - "The people love it, the people love it."

5-0 out of 5 stars My eyes are going crazy
This was the album that started the "crank call" album genre. True, there had been a few other crank call albums before this, but this was the first one that sold a lot of copies. The Jerky Boys on this album were Johnny B, Kamal and Lou Gitano (Lou Gitano did not appear on any of their subsequent albums). Most of the tracks here involve the Jerky Boys calling people up and saying things that leave the person on the other end of the line bewildered. Some of the Jerky Boys classic characters that debut on this album are Frank Rizzo, Sol Rosenberg, Tarbash, Kissel and Jack Tors. This is very funny stuff and is highly recommeded, but you should avoid it if you are offended by curse words.

4-0 out of 5 stars Crack your ribs laughing
Do we got somethin goin here or what? Are we in business? Hey I'm good, I'm silly with that, toughguy. I'd love to fill this review with F-bombs but the rules of the Amazon prohibit that. Not the rules of the Jerky Boys though. Jerky Boy Johnny is the funniest guy in Queens, whether he is Frank Rizzo, Mikey Rutterman or Pat Darucki. Before Crank Yankers there were these guys from the late 80's-early 90's. Still the kings. A must buy for telemarketers and those who make their living on the phone. Teaches great tips. The real deal honey baby.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Laugh Riot! Lots of Swearing So Keep The Kids Away!
The first and probably the funniest. I heard this at a party and everyone was in tears or doubled over laughing - we were sober too.

If you like to laugh and are not a afraid of swearing then buy this. Laughter is good medicine and this is great stuff!

Not for children but incredibly funny. ... Read more

Denis Leary's stance as an unregenerate, chain-smoking, meat-eating, angry young man is intense, to say the least. But his act made him a star for one reason: His jokes are funny. No Cure for Cancer is drawn mostly from Leary's one-man show of the same name, which is full of tough love for '90s therapy-addicted crybabies, and no-holds-barred advice for idiots (which is to say, anyone who gets in Leary's way). Head for the hills when he picks up a guitar, as he does on several ill-advised comedic songs here, but listen up when Leary's straight talk makes perfect (and hilarious) sense. To crack addicts, for example, his message is simple: "Never do a drug named after a part of your own ass." --Daniel Durchholz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny Stuff, People
I was watching TV one night and all of a sudden No cure for Cancer comes on. I wasn't even into stand up acts that much but I decided to watch it since I had heard of Denis Leary before and I wanted to see what would happen. It started out with his famous song "a-hole", which I immediately thought was funny. But then when the stand up started I was laughing like I had never laughed before. I usually don't laugh at things out loud, especially things on TV, and especially when I'm alone at night. But this was some funny stuff, people. His bits on Cocaine, NyQuil, meat, and he talks about death and he makes death funny. He also does an impression of people with voice boxes and it is just laugh-out-loud comedy! He curses a lot, but so does almost every other comedian that ever lived! I bought the cd after watching it on TV and I would've paid twice as much for it. I have listened to it probably 25 times after buying it a month and a half ago. By the way, I've never heard Bill Hicks' comedy before but I'm sure it's funny. But even if Denis Leary did steal any of his comedy, there's no way he stole all of it. And the parts about smoking (which is what Bill Hicks' comedy is supposed to be based on mainly) isn't only what's funny on Denis's cd. Everything Denis made up on the cd is funny, plus whatever he may have stolen from Bill Hicks' stand up. So buy this cd, and I know you will be happy you bought it. I'm only 14, and Denis Leary has shown me that stand up comedy is funny.

4-0 out of 5 stars Newsflash - You can like Denis Leary AND Bill Hicks shock!
It got real boring, real fast, reading all the pious reviewers giving this low marks because Leary is like Bill Hicks. Hicks was a genius - ok, lets get that out of the way.

But you know what, you can be heavily influenced (there is no material steal, just style and attitude) and still be very funny and relevent. And Leary is. This is funny. Do you never listen to Led Zeppelin, because they "ripped off" Willy Dixon? Do you never watch Tarantino because he ripped of every style under the sun? Do you not watch Star Wars because it was based loosely on Lord Of The Rings? No, of course not.

My test is, is it funny and does the material have enough originality to stand up on its own. Yes to both, this is a very funny and well executed show. If some of you feel that you can't listen to it subjectively because you feel "right on" about his style being influenced by another, then fine. However you had better throw out most of your CD collection, book collection and DVD collection if you feel that way, because guess what!!!.....

1-0 out of 5 stars BILL HICKS KARAOKE BY DENIS LEARY
Denis leary is an absoulute thief!
For anyone out there who have been blessed with the comedy of Bill Hicks you will know exactly what I mean.
Denis Leary has made a living by stealing word for word idea for idea in most cases the work of a far greater comedian.
Leary does not have a talented bone in his body, oh except for when he is doing his MILLER commercials. Get the f*&% off the artisitc roll call you no talent cracker.
If you wantt o hear Denis leary dooing bill hicks then by this.

BUt if you want to hear the real thing and better times 1 million then please by BILL HICKS, your life will change for the better. I promise you that.
And as the great man would once say "CASE F%&^$N CLOSED"

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
The world loses Bill Hicks to pancreatic cancer.
Dennis Leary copies his act and releases an album called No Cure For Cancer.
As the Pope would say, this man has chutzpah!

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Leary
Despite the criticism against Leary for being too much like Bill Hicks, Dennis Leary is still very funny and raw in his own right. I got this CD when it first came out and it quickly became one of the most played stand-up recordings for quite some time.

Leary is brutally honest, edgy, and in my mind, represents the Bostonian, Irish American sense of humor very well. The opening song itself (A-hole) is so funny; I can somehow relate to it. To me, he represents free-thinking, non-conforming people who could not care less about being PC and have no problem speaking their opinions--regardless of who doesn't like it. I love people like that, and Dennis Leary is no exception.

I love how he unrepentantly maligns the politically correct sacred cows of this country. He likes red meat, likes to smoke, and generally despises the bleeding-heart types in society. Now that's my kind of guy. Chances are, if you like what you hear so far, he's your type of guy too. Get the CD, you will not be dissapointed! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars EXPLICIT AND FUNNY!!!!
This is a hilarious cd it is very explicit but it is funny this is a legend and he is so funny and I would truly reccommend this cd to anyone who likes Redd Foxx he started out at the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York...... This cd is so funny I listen to it all of the time it is explicit so don't listen to it in front of the kids he talks about a lot of things.... But all of the things that he says makes a whole lot of sense!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars King of Party Humor
Before Pryor, Eddie, Martin, Chris Tucker and Chris Rock, there was Redd Foxx. Redd is the the author and originator of Party Humor. He's the true "King of Comedy."

4-0 out of 5 stars Great entry point for Old-School Comedy
This isn't your parents's Sanford & Son Redd Foxx! This disc presents a ton of really good routines and one-liners from the man who started "blue" comedy. Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce both come out of this man, and it shows fairly well on this disc. It's not as nasty or blue as some of his other records, but it does show Foxx at the top of his form telling stories ("Letter To A Wife" is incredible, even by today's standards) and joke after joke after joke. The man is an encyclopedia of dirty jokes, and balances his whole act with a strong grip on class, which, considering some of the content, is genius unto itself.

You can find dirtier Foxx, but this collection is a great break-in point for any other purchases you might consider. If you like this one, you'll dig the other stuff. If you don't, lean off it all. This is a great collection of material and scope of Foxx's work.

5-0 out of 5 stars the godfather of comedy

4-0 out of 5 stars Even women find this guy hysterical!
Robert Schimmel cracks me up. I laugh the loudest in comedy clubs when he comes to town, so I just had to get the CD to listen to -- when I'm at home... alone... behind closed doors so other people won't know what I think is funny... It is impossible not to quote Schimmel at just the right moment... he has such attitude! He's my favorite comic, and I just heard he has a new show on FOX TV this fall! Buy this and laugh the WHOLE time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Schimmel is a great rising comedian.
I'm a die hard George Carlin fan and when I saw Robert Schimmel's HBO special, Unprotected, I knew I had to have the CD. This is a great album for any fan of non-sugarcoated comedy such as that of Carlin and Leary. But note that Schimmel isn't as "negative" as Carlin and Leary. Rather, Schimmel hits on more "personal" topics to entertain his audience and it works! This is definately a must-buy CD!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best
As a pretty big comedy fan thanks to XM radio, i have listened to a lot of comics and I own a lot of comic CD's (Mitch Hedberg, Bill Hicks, Emo Philips, Lewis Black, Steven Wright, Pablo Francisco etc.) and my absolute favorite is Unprotected. There is not a slow part on this CD and it never fails to bring everyone to tears on a long car ride. His quick and merciless wit is better than any other comic in the US. His family must be very understanding since he doesn't hesitate to include every detail of their personal lives in his act, but it all serves to create a punchline that we can all relate to. The highlights of this CD are his daughter's boyfriend and guidelines for resuming sex after a heart attack. I highly highly reccomend this.

5-0 out of 5 stars video would be better!!!
mr.robert schimmel is the funniest comic i ever heard, but i think if he would sell it on video it would be a lot funnier. you can see the expresions behind the joke....keep up the good work.

5-0 out of 5 stars ROBERT SCHIMMEL RULES!
Robert Schimmel is one of the funniest comedians around. These CDs showcase his hilarious stand-up routines. If he comes to your town I would strongly urge you to see him LIVE. He is simply hysterical. Men and women alike will love his humor. Be warned, however; he touches on many sexual situations. ... Read more

As America's preeminent inheritor of Lenny Bruce's singular comic legacy, George Carlin has long been the dangerous comic it's safe to love. But as America itself has co-opted the "free expression" Carlin holds so dear, he has become a foot soldier without a battlefield. Sadly, Carlin's new album You Are All Diseased--culled from his 1998 HBO special--finds him crossing the line into near-total social impotence. His take on such "cutting edge" topics as airport security, cigar smoking, and the Clinton-Lewinsky affair couldn't get a rise out of a factious prison inmate, and his failure to find subversion in subtlety is more obvious than ever. Carlin's riffs on religion and terrorism are sloppy, valuing hollow extremity over the cutting observation that characterized 1996's Back in Town album. There are a few classic lines here--"If white people are gonna burn down black churches, then black people oughta burn down the House of Blues"--but more often than not, this grumpy old man sounds like a certain Dana Carvey character of the same disposition. Where's the danger in that? --Matt Hanks ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars brutally hilarious
So, after more than 30 years in comedy, what can you expect from the 60-something Carlin? Let me tell you...

...Wild outbursts, random perverted thoughts, brutally honest societal comments and observations, hilarious yells and screams, and the funniest (...) jokes you'll hear in any album recorded by any comedian, ever.

"You Are All Diseased" takes daring jabs at subjects no one else ever had the [guts] to tackle - children, god, religion, and people in general. The things he says on this recording will do one of two things for you: make you laugh so hard you'll bust a gut or repulse you beyond belief. Heed my warning before buying...if you're easily offended or a conservative, white upper-class Republican, you're probably going to hate this album and despise George Carlin for all eternity. But, if you love a good laugh like I do and aren't afraid to hear some seriously honest and BOLD remarks on everything you can think of, by all means get Carlin's latest. It's a true classic in its own time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not very actually FUNNY, but worth listening to.
I'm only 14, and so I haven't really GROWN UP on Carlin like some of the other reviewers here, but I've heard quite a bit of his material and he has quickly become one of my favorite comedians. The trouble is that instead of being a stand-up comic, he's become a "jump-up angry." I prefer his earlier, relaxed "hippy-dippy" material, such as Class Clown. Not to say that this CD is BAD, but Class Clown has more parts that actually make you LAUGH. You Are All Diseased was rather thought-provoking and funny in some spots.. expressing his anger is fine. We all need to vent our feelings some time, even if only to one person as opposed to Carlin having a whole audience to complain to, but he has lately been eschewing actual COMEDY in favor of ranting and raving. Or as my dad put it, "well, George used to be clever, now he just seems to scream and yell about whatever pisses him off." He still has inventive ideas on how the world SHOULD be run, ala the Good Ideas bit from Back in Town (such as opening a motel and bringing truth into advertising by calling it the Sleep and F--k Motel), and I'd say this CD is interesting and entertaining, but it's just not the sort of thing you'd want to listen to for a good laugh when you're feeling tired.

My only major complaint is the language. I counted, and there are 227 curse words/offensive phrases in You Are All Diseased, whereas Class Clown had, what, 5 or so outside of the Seven Words routine? I know it has a parental advisory on the cover, but I wasn't expecting THIS kind of language, and I watch South Park regularly! Some of the language he used made me wince out of shock! It's beyond X-rated! But anyway, I COULD handle most of it, and it IS his Constitutional right to say whatever he wants.

Best line: "The difference between hobbies and interests is that hobbies cost money."

1-0 out of 5 stars Carlin's extreme bitterness and poor sound quality on one CD
What a sad excuse for a George Carlin CD. Bitterness and non-stop angry ranting are only supplements to George's talent but this album proves that even the best ones can have dull days. Not only that but the sound quality was horrible on this album. It is not difficult for one to listen to this album and hear the endless cutting and chopping of the sound as a result of editing. My advice to Carlin fans: Don't waste your money on this one. However, if you really must have it for collector's sake, I will probably understand.

5-0 out of 5 stars God must be a man
I bought this yesterday and started listening. I just absolutly agree with his complaints on children. I wonder why people want to raise these little sh**s to be yuppies. I also agree with his rant on religion. God must be a man to let alot of these things go on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ignore what the Christians say--this is Carlin at his best!!
It's unfortunate that people criticize this CD based on the events of 9/11. This recording took place before that, and therefore arguments affected by that bias hold no water whatsoever. Use some logic here, folks. If you can't figure that out, maybe you're too ignorant to understand George Carlin's wit in the first place!

Secondly, and more importantly, the one biggest criticism of this album (that Carlin has turned into an "angry old man"), is the thing I love most about his recent works. I love his sarcasm, his cynicism, and the way he just doesn't seem to give a rat's a**! I especially love the ending--"There is No God". The first time I heard this album, my jaw dropped wide open in shock and I almost wrecked my car! I am a very difficult person to shock, and I love it when someone takes me be surprise.

If you're looking for soft, easy-going comedy, look somewhere else. If you want the truth, tell your kids to put their Bible away and listen to what this intelligent man has to say, and remember--this is Mr. Conductor talking here--He know's what he's talking about! ... Read more

Why learn new tricks when you can still get big laughs milking the old ones? Everyone's favorite foul-mouthed canine puppet simply takes the same material he's been using since Don Rickles was in short pants, and stretches it over a series of musical pastiches, from calypso ("Underage Bichon") to, um, Yiddish musical theater ("My Mama"). With contributions from Adam Sandler, Conan O'Brien, Jack Black, and SNL vets Maya Rudolph and Horatio Sanz, this disc features more guests than a Jerry Lewis telethon (alas, no Eminem--though he gets name-checked on the hip-hop jam "I Keed"). The Jerky Boys-style crank calls quickly wear thin, and the bonus DVD is a hodgepodge of static performance footage of the best bits on the CD, plus some agonizing filler (who invited that Dell computer dork?), but on the strength of the hilarious songs alone, Come Poop With Me is nothing to turn your nose up at. --Kurt B. 5-0 out of 5 stars Funny as hell
It seems like everyone's giving this either one or five stars. I'll go for five. If you like it, it hits the bullseye. Yes, it's dirty. It's like an old fashioned dirty comedy album (Triumph even pays tribute to Redd Foxx) but from a dog's perspective. There's lots of great stuff you don't get on TV, hilarious phone calls and nasty songs about cats, Benji, Bob Barker and the legendary Blackwolf nerd from Triumph's Star Wars sketch. And some great insult songs, not just "I Keed" but the epic "Together in Pooping" with Conan, Sandler, Black, Sans and Rudolph. Even cooler to see it on the DVD.

Oh, yeah, the whole DVD is outstanding. Not just songs, but plenty of interviews with pooping targets like the Dell Guy, Big Pussy, and Jared. (And the interview with Kurt Loder may be the best of all) The dirty stuff on the CD isn't for everybody, I doubt it was ever meant to be. But until we see a DVD collection of Triumph's sketches on the Conan show, this will satisfy a lot if not all of his fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worked for me big time
I see lots of five star reviews but a low average. Seems like there are two types of dissenters - a bunch of angry Clay Aiken fans who ransacked the reviews in November (shame on Amazon for letting these get through) and people who wanted what they get on tv.

I think the whole point of the cd was to do what you can't on tv. It plays like a concept album, like Triumph is doing a dirty doggie album the way Dolemite would've if we were an actual dog. The song "I Keed" is funny, for sure, but it's clear in its preceding track that "Triumph" has included it to please the record company. I found all the songs to be funny, "I Keed" was actually not one of my favorites. The jokes are great, but it's basically Triumph doing his act to rhymes. "Together in Pooping", the all-star anthem with Conan, Black, Rudolph, Sandler and Sanz, is a smarter insult song.

The dirty songs are actually much more clever. The slyness of the "Cats are C___" payoffs are priceless. "You Have to Work Blue" is crude only on a very superficial level, it satirizes comedy snobbery and delivers a hilarious absurdist punchline (several, actually). And Sanz's out-and-out ballsiness (especially on the DVD) is easy to respect and hard to forget. The "Blackwolf" duet is a gut-busting continuation of the classic Star Wars remote sketch Triumph did a few years back. "Bob Barker" w/ Black again rocks so hard you have to laugh, and "No Rules in the Animal Kingdom"? Well, that's just a great song. Yeah, it follows a lot of songs that touch on the dog sex gimmick, but listen to it on its own. It may be the best of the lot.

People who pine for the TV Triumph surely won't be disappointed by the DVD. The interviews with the best of B-celebrities are hilarious and raw. Who can resist Triumph taking apart Jared and the Dell Guy at the same time? It's a pooper's paradise.

5-0 out of 5 stars The DVD worth it alone!
I could not stop laughing watching this DVD. I love Triumph on Conan and here you get to see him really lay into some people. Kurt Loder and the fat VJ from MTV 2 try to fight back, and it only makes Triumph stronger. Big Pussy from the Sopranos curses out Triumph at the top of his lungs. I thought he was going to attack him. But Triumph keeps his cool and puts him in his place. It was truly raw, scary, and hysterically funny. Everyone talks about the Dell Guy and how drunk he was. It's amazing he made it through the interview. Jared from the Subway ads throws sandwiches at the crowd from a pair of his old pants. The sandwiches aren't well wrapped and the result is as strange as it is hilarious.

Then there are the songs like "Cats are (blank)" with a funny-as-hell Conan cameo. Jack Black explosive as always on Bob Barker, a really good and funny Limp Bizkit parody. The crazy nerd wizard from the Stars Wars line, Blackwolf, almost steals the show from everyone. Horatio Sanz is completely out-of-control hysterical on "You Have to Work Blue", maybe the best song of all. And the finale including everybody (plus Sandler!) is not to be missed.

The CD has a lot of the same great songs, so you can laugh at them in your car, plus at least 7 or so that aren't on the DVD, including the great single "I Keed," "Underage Bichon," and the Sandler duet, "30 Seconds of Magic." And Triumph's panicked phone call to an STD hotline is an audio classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Poop
This CD shocked me, funny after funny, song after song. Shockingly dirty, too, even for Triumph fans, but the dog can back it up. Songs about Benji, Cats and Triumph's skanky old Mama play like classics. So does the Together in Pooping number, and every syllable out of Jack Black's mouth. The DVD is old school Triumph "pooping on poop" like the Dell Guy and Kurt Loder. It's called a bonus, but clocking an hour, it's almost worth the bucks by itself.

2-0 out of 5 stars Stick To Late Night with Conan O'Brian
The only reason I'm writing this review is to deter people from purchasing this.

I actually almost liked it the first time through, but I couldn't listen to it again without (literally) falling asleep. The DVD is almost worthless because about 75% of it is on the CD.

With Bigger & Blacker, Chris Rock teams up with producer Prince Paul once again; the duo snagged a Grammy together for their work on 1997's brash Roll with the New. Bigger is a cutting-edge mishmash of studio skits, live recordings, and crazy musical numbers with guest shots from Ol' Dirty Bastard, Ice Cube, Biz Markie, Gerald Levert, and others. The bulk of the album is road-tested live material (mostly recorded at the Comedy Corner in West Palm Beach, Florida, in May 1999) that ranges from the difference between ghetto and suburban shopping malls to taxes, homophobia, insurance, and women. Sandwiched between the live bits are a send-up of N.W.A.'s "F**k tha Police" with Ice Cube; a ribald interpretation of "Brown Sugar" with Biz Markie; and "Me and ODB," a hilarious, pimped-out ghetto fairytale set to the funky beat of AWB's "Pick up the Pieces." Rock's inescapable appeal lies in his delivery--his manic energy teeters on the edge, reined in just enough so that it remains on this side of manic. Bigger & Blacker shows that Rock is equally at home whether flexing his standup material in front of a live audience or goofing in the studio. --Spence Abbott ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the funniest Album of the year!!!!!!!!!
If I could I would rate this one 20 Stars!!!!!!!! Chris Rock has done it again!!!! This guy is just full of humor, this Album is funny from beginning to end. I have all of his Albums and I listen to them all the time, and I laugh my #! off all the time!! It's great to see him put out another Masterpiece. If you ever thought Chris Rock was funny when you saw him on a television or at an event, then you gotta get this Album. What else can I say Chris Rock is just funny. Howard Stern and Jerry Seinfeld both agree Chris Rock is definitely one of the most funniest Comedians around today!!! Do yourself a favor go out and buy this album, you will not regret it!!!!! And remember: IF YOU WANT TO BE FUNKY YOU GOT TO BE FREE JUST DON'T SPREAD THAT FUNK ALL ON ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Truth CAN be fun......
Chris Rock understands better than anyone, how to make the truth sound hilarious, even though it might affect some people. Here is a guy who truly speaks his mind, no matter what the subject is. I guess to some minorities of people he is kind of rude, but hey? Maybe they should see it as a wake-up call, and try to change their lives?!?

As an objective listener you can't help laughing along, on the tiny facts and moments in life he deals with! It might or might not be his objective to actually change peoples mind in regards to certain matters, but it still makes one think and say: "He's absolutely right!" when you hear his jokes.

to me, Chris Rock is one of the most talented comedians around! His material is continuosly funny and can take the stress out of a hard days work, no matter when you hear it. So go ahead, let yourself be amused for a couple of hours by this brilliant album.

5 stars coming your way, Chris......

5-0 out of 5 stars very funny
I love Chris Rocks stand up. Thats where he's at his best.

4-0 out of 5 stars the stand up is great
chris rock is one of the best comedians around and this cd proves why the No Sex In the Champaign Room song wasn't all that good like everyone thinks but I really like this CD

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I was realy disappointed with this CD. More than half of the tracks are songs or skits that aren't even funny. I am a big Chris Rock fan and I've heard many of the jokes on other albums. Even die hard fans should stay away from this CD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "No, I have... other lawn chairs."
This has always been a favorite "Jerky Boys" album of mine. While I admit I'm not all that impressed with some of the newer stuff, "The Jerky Boys 3" has some classic comedy moments that are bound to get laughs and cringes from you. It's those jolly pranksters who are terrorizing the business world with their prank phone calls once again.

All the classic characters are here: Frank Rizzo, Sol Rosenberg, Kisso, Tarbash, and Jack Tor S. There are also some new characters too in this one, which is why it's a favorite of mine. All of the calls are downright hilarious and they never get old.

A really cool feature of the album is that now there are tracks that are actual incoming calls. Witness the hijinx and shenanigans these innocent callers experience as they try to get information on lawn equipment that they'll never see. The calls are CLASSIC.

The album has 29 tracks all together. My favorite calls are "Santa's Delivery," "TV Repair," "Tarbash's New Shoes," "Lawnmower Sale," "Sol's Chainsaw Shock (parts 1 and 2)," "Safety Gates," "Lawn Equipment Debate," "Silly Food," "BAMM!" and "Sol's Civil War Memorabilia (parts 1 and 2)." They're all very funny and humorous to listen too.

If you're a fan of the Jerky Boys, then I suggest checking out "The Jerky Boys 3." There's a very high replay value on this hilarious CD. Unpredictable and outrageous, this is an album to remember.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cradle rock style!
This is another Jerky Boys crank calls album. Lots of funny stuff here. Favorite Jerky Boys characters are back, like Frank Rizzo, Sol Rosenberg, Kissel, Tarbash and Jack Tors. There are also a few new characters introduced, my favorite of which is Big Ole Bad Ass Bob The Cattle Rustler. One new thing they did here was take out classified ads in the newspaper and record the responses they received from people. It's pretty funny stuff. Recommended to fans of crank phone calls.

5-0 out of 5 stars FUNNEIST S*** EVER
I MUST HAVE LISTENED TO THIS CD 100O TIMES AND EVERY TIME IT'S FUNNER AND FUNNER. THE FUNNEIST TRACK TO ME IS "SANTAS DELIVERY". I CRY EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO THAT TRACK. IF YOU WANT TO LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF GET TIHS ALBUM ASAP.

3-0 out of 5 stars Last Decent Jerky Boys CD
While it's not quite quite up to par with the original, they do a good job of inventing some new characters and keep things relatively fresh. This is probably the last good album they released...they really strained themselves trying to cook up the sequel, Jerky Boys 4, and it shows. After that they broke up and the last two albums are just bland attempts at trying to keep the name alive. So this might be a good place to complete your collection if you already have the first two albums (but if your desperate for more, get the bootlegs that have been floating around that catch the duo in their prime. In fact the only reason those recordings weren't officially released is because they were sooo good at pissing people off many wouldn't sign the release form to let them put the calls on an album.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great album!
This album is on par with Jerky Boys 2.

"Angry Camper's Dad" is riotous. You'll probably fall down from laughing when you hear that clip. Frank calls up a camp to complain that other kids have been picking on his son. He's says the other kids have been taking dumps in Mikey's (Frank's son's) laundry bag and have been "jagging" Mikey with a baseball bat. It's absolutely hilarious.

"1-800-How's My Driving" is quite possibly the funniest Jerky Boys clip ever. Frank Rizzo calls up one of those 1-800 numbers listed on the back of trucks. He wants to complain about a truck driver that backed up over his legs several times. Although Frank can't remember the name of the business, he does recall that some swill was dripping out of the back of the truck. It's so funny!!!

"TV Repair" is also great. Kissel calls up a department store to complain about a TV he just bought there. Anyway, while he's on the phone Pico is trying to fix the set. Pico almost gets electrocuted. You'll love it!!! ... Read more

One can't help but feel both elated and sad when listening to this colossal overview of Richard Pryor's recorded work. Multiple sclerosis has silenced the greatest humorist of his generation, and that's tragic for Pryor. But it's also a heartbreaking loss for comedy, for, as these discs amply illustrate, the man who exploded the parameters of stage comedy in the '70s could have taken it in wild new directions. As it was, Pryor fleshed out Lenny Bruce's commitment to brutal honesty--and with a keener acting ability. This nine-CD set includes the comic's seven Warner Bros. LPs, plus a disc of previously unissued material and a rare 25-minute interview from 1983. Listening to the likes of 1974's That Nigger's Crazy and 1978's Live in Concert, it's obvious that while the man shaped comedy for decades to come, very few of those who've followed in his footsteps have anything near the talent, fearlessness, wisdom, or insight that Pryor possessed. Or the pain, for that matter. But as Pryor observed looking back at his peak years, "I was a drug-addicted, paranoid, frightened, lonely, sad, and frustrated comedian who had gotten too big for his britches." All those qualities come through loud and clear on these discs, but what he's left out is that, at the very same time, he was also very possibly the funniest man on the planet. --Steven Stolder ... 5-0 out of 5 stars How could Richard earn anything less than 5 stars?
It has been said that the United States has produced three truly great comics -- Mark Twain, Lenny Bruce, and Richard Pryor. I'd say that is about right.

Its about time Pryor's work was made available in remastered CD form. I liked the book that came along with the CDs, but I hate when CDs are packaged in cardboard envelopes (Jewel Boxes are the way to go for CD packaging as far as I'm concerned). That would be my only complaint regarding this box set, and it has nothing to do with the content of the CDs.

What's on the CDs are pure gold. Every black comedian to arrive on the scene since 1980 has been compared to Richard Pryor. Once you listen to this material, you'll realise that Pryor has no equal. His comedy is something that is going to outlast us all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reply to "set the record straight"
The problem is, I have Pryor's work in both vinyl LPs and this boxed set; there is a noticeable difference in content between the two, and my suspicion is some of the really serious non-pc stuff in his earlier releases was edited from the CD set for reasons unknown except by the producers. Movie makers do this all the time: a viewer sees one version of a movie in the theater then finds another version with a lot of the good parts cut out when buying and viewing the movie at home on DVD or tape. The only way Richard Pryor's fans will know if I'm telling the truth is to have access to both earlier vinyl releases and the new boxed set. I am blessed to enjoy both; moreover, having cut my teeth on this artist's earlier works on LP records, the new release is lacking not because of Pryor but because the CD boxed set organizers, for whatever reason, omitted parts of his original intent. My opinion still stands based on being lucky enough to physically own this man's comedy in the old and new media. No disrespect to Richard Pryor in the least; he is the greatest! The boxed set is very much worth twice the price to those of us who appreciate Richard Pryor's many talents. Enjoy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars And it's great, too.
As great as Eddie Murphy's stand-up shows of the 80s were, when you look back, he owes most of his success to Pryor. Eddie had the boundless energy and the dead-on impressions, but he didn't have a fraction of the depth. This is a great boxed set, with 8 CDs of material, plus a wonderful booklet, the cover of which has an alarming photo of Pryor as a bushman. It reflects the material on the discs--alarming and hilarious. You never know what's around the corner. You have to be prepared to laugh or cry at a moment's notice. Pryor, through his life and work, mastered the confessional, the imitative, and the physical comedy, and became a prophet in the eyes of other comics. To get the full effect, Pryor needs to be seen, and there are several VHS and DVD concert videos. However, this set contains some of his classic albums of the 70s, of which only the audio remains.

5-0 out of 5 stars A gem
The best comedy purchase I've made. Richard Pryor have given us so much. I bought one for my brother's birthday too. Never gets stale.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Richard Pryor"--first album (where it all started)
Glad to see that his first, self-titled album is finally on CD, even if you have to buy the whole set to get it. It seems to be in mono, though. If you haven't heard the original record, you're not missing much. It suffers from usual late 60's mixing, typical of comedy records of the period, where the comedian is in one speaker, and the audience in the other (and sometimes the audience was recorded better than the comedian, such as on "Craps (After Hours)").
There's some great stuff on this first album, though it seems very tame and totally different than his later work. The best thing to do is to compare it to what Bill Cosby was doing at the time. No-one else was talking about farting or saying "nigger" on stage or on a comedy album before, but here's where it all started!
Routines like "Prison Play" and "TV Talk Show" have Richard doing about five different characters in them each. The former has a hilariously bad one-act play staged in a prison, and the latter a late-night talk-show discussing the origin of Man. Pretty complex stuff for the time, let alone on a first album. The early stuff has a naivete and innocence about it that still makes his early material still listenable (check out "Are You Serious???" and "Who Me? I'm Not Him!" on Laff Records' CD's). I'm hoping for a straight reissue of this album by itself, perhaps with some bonus material, and more photos from Henry Diltz's shot of Richard out of something from "National Geographic (the album cover is a laugh-riot alone!). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Carlin's greatest
This album has bits that will have you laughing so hard you'll bust a gut. It's classic Carlin with his classic routines such as Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television and I Used to be Irish Cathholic. A good thing about Carlin is he did some research for his bits on this album.

5-0 out of 5 stars First Class
Class Clown is the album that turned George Carlin from a B-level sitcom actor into a stand-up legend. Mr. Carlin had originally done stand-up as part of a comedy duo, but moved into acting. He landed roles in TV shows like That Girl, but the stand-up arena was his true calling. Class Clown was cutting edge at the time mixing politics, religion, drugs and all the social issues of the late 60's, early 70's into a big pot. The album is most famous for the "Seven Words You Can't Say On Television" bit. That broke alot of ground with its vulgarity, the same type of routine that got Lenny Bruce throw in jail. "Seven Words" is funny, but equally as funny are bits like "Class Clown", "I Used To Be An Irish Catholic" and "Heavy Mysteries". Some of the material is dated, but Mr. Carlin is so funny, you laugh even if the events are outdated.

5-0 out of 5 stars Where it began...
I've seen all the reviews and i agree. Carlin kicks! I've been a big Carlin fan for 4 years, and I have everything of his from 1978-1999, so I was suprised when I heard this. Here, he's really calm, and extremly goofy. He made me want to get that Spike Jones record. And, I think everyone can relate to his material on the album. Brilliant work. YOU WIL ENJOY!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfection!
Classic material! This is one of the landmark recordings of comedy. This was the recording that "broke" Carlin nationwide and put his name on everyone's lips. Buy it today!

5-0 out of 5 stars After listening to new Carlin, very suprising!
This is a suprising album since the Carlin I know is always angry and yelling. This was made in the 1970's, and George had first started his stand-up performances around USA.A really calm album, but I can hear some of his anger on this album when he does the "Values" material.I loved the talk about being a comedian in school, and for new fans, The 7 Words is on this album.Maturity Level:15+ END ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Come to Florida
This is the second of The Jerky Boys crank calls albums. It's not quite as funny as their first album, but it still has it's moments. Some of the best calls here involve the neurotic Sol Rosenberg and the angry Frank Rizzo. My favorite here is probably the one where Sol calls a therapist and says he is afraid of his own shadow. Recommended to fans of crank phone calls.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hysterical
Sam Kinison makes us all laugh again, first with his wild comedy, and then with his song "Wild Thing" which is great. Sam proves that he is the best, was the best, and always will be the best. We miss you Sam!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars OH-OHHHH!
The only reason I didn't give this five stars was because nothing can touch Sam's first album, the hysterical "Louder Than Hell" (yes, it is out of print, but if your local record shop still sells cassettes you might get lucky). Sam Kinison was a true comic genius who would do material on stuff no comic would even dream of and make people laugh even when they were absolutely horrified at what he said. The phrase "Nothing's sacred" seems to have been invented for Sam Kinison. He was still in his prime when this album was recorded, and you will be convulsed beginning to end. Warning: Do NOT listen to this or any Sam Kinison recording while driving. I know of five people who have narrowly avoided or gotten into accidents because they were laughing so hard. Yes, I was one of them . . . . Rest in peace, Sam--you're still the best!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sam Kinison Rocks, no one else like him!!
The Loss of Sam Kinison is a horrible loss for the world, he crosses the line of acceptablility in his humor, NOT for the PC crowd. Despite his raunchy humor, he was a preacher (seriously!) and keeps his belief strong, although veiled, and never force fed, like his humor! Get up! Rethink! And yell back! That's what it is all about about! Open your mind, not so far your brains will fall out, but enough to get a refreshing view on things.
As for recommendations with, I would (and did) get everything I could with Kinison, and am now hoping for the DVD set. The videos the were advertised on tv were very poor quality, no star because of the quality not the content.
~Mariance

5-0 out of 5 stars His BEST
This has to be his best CD. Not to long, not too short, unbelieveably funny! The comedian is live, uncensored, at his raunchy best. We miss you, Sam. RIP.

5-0 out of 5 stars A brilliant follow up...
Sam named this CD in response to Warner Brothers pulling his first CD 'Louder Than Hell' out of print. 'Have You Seen Me Lately' provides ample humor in an arena setting charged with a lively and animated crowd. Sam performs to the best of his god given ability, and the audience eats from his hand with an eagerness rarely captured on any recording. His subject matter ranges from the twisted to the almost sacreligious, but nobody but Sam could have discussed these in his act with the style and showmanship of an evangelical ex-preacher. Bad taste? Hardly! I think this recording is a look back into the prime of a great artist. Sam Kinison's death was a tragedy, and we lost him before he could reach his true potential. But recordings such as 'Have You Seen Me Lately' can remind us of how funny one man can be. It is well worth the investment for the laughs you'll experience over and over again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very funny, but for the eternal adolescent in all of us
I listen to Bob and Tom every morning. Yes, they're very funny,
but not exactly adult. The humor is almost always adolescent,
sometimes childish. And they are usually very, very funny. If you're into highbrow humor, skip them. But if there's a naughty little kid inside you, then you'll love them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Diversion For Men at Holiday gatherings
My brother bought Bob and Tom's Cd's for my son's 18th birthday present, because my son loves comedy sketches. Saturday Night Live fan...big time. He brought it for Thanksgiving...so he could give it in person. While dinner was cooking and the women were catching up...(we had friends from out of state)instead of hearing..."when's dinnner going to be done."(every 5 minutes) My brother told my son to play it...my Dad, my husband,my brother from Indy and my brother from Hawaii, and all 3 of my sons sat in the livingroom laughing their butts off...for over an hour before dinner. I mean really laughing...we could hear them from the street. It was so much fun for the women to have private time...at the same time loving hearing all the laughter

5-0 out of 5 stars The Funniest CD Ever
This is the funniest cd i have ever purchased. I just started listening to them on the radio (KSHE 95, 94.7 FM for those not in the St. Louis and surrounding areas) and their skits are the funniest skits you could ever hear. When I found out that they had a greatest hits cd out i immediately rushed out and bought it. When i put it in my cd player, i couldn't take it out.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buy this if you enjoy low class humor.
The lyrics in many of the songs were more disgusting than entertaining. The copy I purchased ended up in the fire.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funniest guys on the radio
This is by far the funniest CD I own. They should have a new one coming out soon I hope! They have the cleverest humor. These songs and skits are the type that stay with you. 5-0 out of 5 stars Back to his best
Another great CD from George, all the more pleasurable because he devotes much of it to his thoughts on the use (and abuse) of language - one of his strengths (as well as being very funny, it's clever, thoughtful stuff - using humour to make really a very serious point). I found the the sections on "Offensive Language" and "Euphemisms" particularly enjoyable.

Less funny was the stuff on cancer - I thought this was the one part of the routine where Carlin had difficulty keeping the audience (and me) with him. I enjoyed the rest of the album so much though that I thought it would be churlish to drop a star because of that. I suppose you have to accept that with comedians like Carlin, there will be times when his experiments with comedy fail to hit the mark. Overall, though, great stuff.

G Rodgers

5-0 out of 5 stars George Carlin for President!
No doubt about it, Mr. George Carlin is the King of Comedy! However, should he only be listened to by people who don't have a problem about the truth being spoken. Carlin NEVER hides from speaking his own opinion. And that's what makes his material funny; material that we didn't know about or just had trouble noticing it. And it is hilarious to finally hear it. It is my opinion that Carlin should run for Presidential election. Putting this senile old man's ideas at work would not only make this planet better, but become a part of history as well. Enjoy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Cd.
This cd is good, by any standards... but it doesnt build up like alot of his others. Theres alot of material. And a fair arangement but... theres something missing to call it 5 stars. Just not his best. Personally i liked his books, a few of the skits on tv were really good. And most of his cds are some of the best, but this one falls short.

5-0 out of 5 stars Formidable look at the English language, just sublime
George Carlin is an extraordinarily strong expert of the language: he looks at it, thinks about it, then thinks about it some more and twists and places the bits in the way you never thought possible.

Pair it with his consummate delivery skills: timing, pitch, slow climb to the peak - he is a true professional. And he is not just "bursting with energy" like some lesser comedians who substitute silly meaningless clowning on stage for professional comedy delivery: Carlin's energy is masterfully and skillfully channelled towards achieving his goal of lighting the fire of the audience.

It is hard to believe the record is now 12 years old. It sounds fresh and the best tracks (Rape Can Be Funny; Feminist BJ; and the pinnacle of linguistic joy, Offensive Language) are absolute gems in the outstandingly rich collection of George Carlin.

Never mind the weak material he was relegated to on Saturday Night Live: Upon leaving the show, Chris Rock suddenly became the funniest man in America. Roll with the New, his sophomore album, mixes a variety of elements--song parodies, skits, even one of those hokey routines where a reporter's questions are "answered" with clips from records. But most of the of the album consists of Rock's stand-up act, in which he fearlessly takes on the subjects of the day--Marion Barry, O.J., and "niggas vs. black people." It's devastatingly funny, and sufficiently thought-provoking to earn Rock comparisons to predecessors such as Richard Pryor and Paul Mooney. Rock's bit on "tossed salad" in prison will probably make you toss your cookies. But it's hilarious nonetheless. --Daniel Durchholz ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Chris Rock - Comic Genius
This collection of Chris Rock's incredible sense of humor is yet another reason why he has so dominated comedy in the past years. Chris once again includes incredibly funny material and puts some of his best bits ever (i. e. niggers vs black people) on this must have album.

5-0 out of 5 stars How funny is he?!!!!
Chris Rock ROCKS! Only he can make these life observations! He's not afraid to push buttons nor is he afraid to broach subjects that other comics dare not speak about.

Jokes you must NOT miss on this CD are about Marion Barry, OJ Simpson, and his Black People comparison.

Buy this CD and you won't be disappointed.

2-0 out of 5 stars Little new in "Roll With the New"
Let me preface this review by saying that I am a huge Chris Rock fan, having bought nearly everything that he has done on both DVD and CD. But "Roll With the New" is little more than select excerpts from "Bring the Pain" with a few sophomoric Ren & Stimpy style toss-ins, which really aren't up to Chris Rock's normal level. Somebody at Dreamworks figured they could make a boat load of extra money by tossing in 20% original though mediocre content with regurgitations of the best parts of BTP.

Do yourself a favor: Save your money and get more laughs by buying "Bring the Pain" and "Bigger and Blacker" instead.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, but some falls short of expectations
I have laughed many an hour away with this album. However, some of the short bits fall short of the standup maestro that he is. Variety? Sure, there's variety, but something just doesn't work with the non-standup bits. They are funny, just not as top notch as aforementioned. I do agree that Chris Rock -is- the funniest man in America. Enjoy!

4-0 out of 5 stars I am sure he sounds better on stage
Chris Rock is surely one powerful comedian, but this CD does not do him justice. There are too many studio-mixed tracks, too much auxiliary stuff beside his straightforward stand-up act, but it is Chris Rock talking that you want to hear, not annoying interference of second-grade content that is equivalent to warm-up artist at a superstar's concert.

His texts are impeccable, delivery is powerful with finely judged rhytm. It is this rhytm that captivates and brings you to the climax of laughter. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Priceless pieces at a peerless price
You recall this king of cutting-edge comedy, but you don't want to wade through the full 9 CDs of "And It's Deep Too!" which, admittedly, contain more than a bit of dross. So invest in this compact 2-CD set with 2-1/2 hours of Richard's best routines. Then sit back with your drug of choice and bust a gut! Golden!

5-0 out of 5 stars HILARIOUS!!!
Excellent, and reasonably priced. It chronicals all the early works in one great package, if you cannot afford the "And its deep, too" box set. All of his stories are great, hysterically funny, and always wants to make you rewind to hear the jokes again. Lots of laughs!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Toast!
to the Man who forever changed the Game of Comedy. He is really showcased fully well here.He is Deep on so many topics&yet you are laughing so hard.He was to Comedy in the 70's as Ali was to the Ring in the Same Era.a Voice second too None.He is a Ground-Breaker&a PowerFul Force.

5-0 out of 5 stars Groundbreaking - and a great value
A well-selected overview of the best of Pryor's comedy albums, 1968-1992. Pryor's material and presentation, especially in the mid-1970s, were groundbreaking for all comics, black and white, and many of these bits still have sharp social impact. That aside, he is just plain funny. And what a value for a two-disc set! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars George is making a comeback
George Carlin has slipped a little in the past few years in terms of his comedy albums. BACK IN TOWN was his worst one with way too much diss on religion and government, and YOU ARE ALL DISEASED failed to cover any real new ground, (Containing an even now ironic piece on having too much airport security).

THANKFULLY we are given COMPLAINTS AND GRIEVANCES and Carlin has improved vastly. Getting back to basics, he has slimmed down his attacks on government and religion and moved towards what he does best, fun observations and as he even said once, "Goofy S**t". Carlin stabs at people who wear visors, "Why buy half a hat? Either get a hat or don't!" Honor Student bumper stickers, carrying babies in backpacks, Answering Machines with (...) music or children on them, and my favorite, and for anyone else who works retail, people who make small purchases with credit cards "Cheese Doodles are NOT a major purchase!!" It doesn't stop there, Carlin does the impossible and sides with the US Govt and offers a suggestion for wiping out terrorism with a new form of chemical warfare; farts, particularly from 200 lb football fans.

Anyone put off by Carlins last two albums (like me) will find this a bit of fresh air and harkins back to better, earliar times. Put this one behind JAMM'IN IN NEW YORK and before WHAT AM I DOING IN NEW JERSEY? It's hilarious. I hope Georges next one is just as good.

3-0 out of 5 stars (...)not his best
I was expecting a lot more from this album than I actually got, mainly because I thought Carlin would talk at length about the WTC terrorist attacks. But, this subject is just kind of glossed over. About the only thing he talks about is his 'chemical warfare' solution, which was kinda funny.
Then he goes on to traffic accidents which is ok, and then on to peeling various things (such as scabs) off of his body, which was completely unfunny. This is definitely the low point of the album. At this point during the 'scab' routine, obviously sensing that the audience was getting sick of it, he says something like "maybe I went a little too far" and then goes on to something else.
However, the album starts to pick up after this point as he goes into people that should be killed (great!) and the ten commandments (pretty good).
It seems that Carlin can't make up his mind whether he wants to do disgusting 'bathroom humor' material or witty & disturbing social commentary. Though I am a fan of both when it comes to comedy, Carlin just doesn't seem very capable of mixing the two the very well.
If you are a Carlin fan, this may make for a decent listen if your expectations aren't too high. If you're not a Carlin fan, this will do little to change your mind.

2-0 out of 5 stars The "dirty old man" guise wears thin
George can do SO much better than this. In fact, his prior album, You Are All Diseased, was largely brilliant. This new one provides a Carlin as distant from (for instance) the Carlin on the insightful, provocative Jammin' in New York as the one who did Toledo Window Box was from the Playin' With Your Head guy.

I don't think he's out of material. I think he's far from the end of the line, and should now surprise everyone by re-blossoming the way he did in the '80s.

But Complaints & Grievances is not terribly funny, thought-provoking OR insightful. There's nothing here that you can't get from any other cable comedian, and this is quite a difference from the Carlin of just a few years ago.

The only bit I like occurs at the end, when he talks about how ill-suited to real life the Ten Commandments are. Other than that, he talks about saving things you've picked out of your bottom, threatening molestation when leaving answering-machine messages for toddlers, and other things that display how he's pushing too hard for the "perverted old man" part of his repertoire that only the small segment of his fanbase representing drunk frat boys could possibly laugh at.

You haven't let me down in 33 years, George. Don't turn the brain off now, for godsakes.

2-0 out of 5 stars The AOM is at it again.
I have been a George Carlinite since I was seven (and busted by my father for listening to the LP 'Class Clown'). I really admired Carlin for talking about, and intelligently making fun of, the things in our everyday lives. Alas, ever since "What am I doing in New Jersey?" his humor has gone from being intelligent to being only somewhat humourous at best, and downright stupid at its worst. He's become angry now and when he makes fun of things in our everyday lives, its sometimes unfunny.

The lion's share of this CD is rather unfunny, although it does have its moments. The abridgment of the Ten Commandments was to me, a semi-lasped Catholic, to be a stroke of genius but it's a day late and a buck short when held in comparison to the rest of the CD.

I have tried and tried again to like his later works ("Jammin' in New York" and "You are all Diseased"), but I have eventually sold the CDs off because they just didn't make me laugh like his earlier works. This is in the "To Be Sold" bin even as we speak.

Sorry, George.

5-0 out of 5 stars Speaks truth!
This is Carlin at his best and my favorite routine is hearing all his complaints. It's very true about boy's names. For example, where did "Trey" come from?! It's also true about holiday newsletters and women with hyphenated last names. It's very irritating. I agree 100%. He is the best comic around, and he speaks the truth, especially about religion. I can't wait to catch his next album. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Carlin at his best
This is good for a laugh. George Carlin is extremely funny in most of his word, but "Jammin' in New York" I number among the best. This is good fun for everyone. (But it is explicit and would advise against parents letting their younger children listen to it)... But if you want the opinionated, harsh, comedy for yourself, I don't blame you... it's funny as hell. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars A monument in George's stand-up comedy!
I think George should be proud of this album. However, you have to know what was going on at the time to understand The Persian Gulf War material.Little Things is very funny, though I wish I saw it.Airline Announce ments(which is about 17 minutes)is truly his funniest work, right next to "There Is No God."Golf Courses for the Homeless is more thoughtful than funny, but when he talked about aneroxics, I fell over with laughter. Espiecially with the way he says "I DON'T WANNA EAT!"Then the great punchline after that,"Go F%$k yourself. Why Don't you stand in front of a railroad track when you're not eating!"Then, the monument of the entire album, "The Planet is Fine"Very thoughtful, very funny, and this is his best work.Anyone who's a Carlin fan,get this album!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Carlin Masterpiece
Whether you see his performances on tape or DVD or if you listen to his material on CD, George Carlin is always on top of his game. He talks about whatever he wants without any fear, and he doesn't care who he offends. (In fact, if you ever told him that you were offended by his stuff, it'd only encourage him!) George Carlin's "Jammin' in New York" is a hilarious album that always keeps you on your toes.

On this dark and angry album you'll hear George talk about the Gulf War, little things we have in common, golf courses, airline announcements, eating disorders, more war stuff, environmentalists, and many more.

This is one of my favorite performances by him. He hits every note right and never leaves us with a dull or unfunny moment. Carlin dishes out the edgy and controversial material without hesitation. And it's also an album you can listen to over and over again. If you're easily offended by strong language, I'd recommend that you steer clear of this one. After all, this is Carlin we are talking about.

While seeing him do his performances is always better than just listening to it, "Jammin' in New York" is definitely an album to check out if you are a Carlin fan. His years in comedy really pays off and you do get the feeling that he seems to improve with every performance. Carlin will always remain a favorite of mine.

5-0 out of 5 stars There may never be another George Carlin album like it.
I was never really into to stand up comedy until I was introduced to George Carlin. I have heard a lot of his stuff, but Jammin' in New York is, by far, the greatest and most well thought out poece of his work yet to date. It is one of the funniest HBO performances that he has ever done.

4-0 out of 5 stars This man is not an "audioevangelist"...
...you have to remember that. Evangelists tend to be voices of religions where it is expected to take every word of Scripture as the literal word of the Almighty. And when they preach, you're supposed to believe it all. I don't care what your attitudes and worldviews are--listen to just one Carlin disc and you are more than once going to hear somthing you strongly disagree with. That's because he's a humorist--part comedian and part philosopher--never completely one or the other. Carlin tends to knock government and the Church. Well, it's fashionable to strongly distrust government nowadays. And church congregations are shrinking and it's getting tougher every day to find "people of God". I could care less how trendy it is to use "government" as a four-letter word (GOVT)--any society needs government as a counterbalance to chaos. And belief in a god is a help to that. Why can't people just do as they like? Because some people like to do some pretty lousy things and it's naiive to claim they're never going to harm anyone else. I'm a churchgoer who votes rather than distorting Jefferson on the topic of overthrowing my government. You gonna call me naiive and a yes-man? I don't care--knock yourself out. Carlin takes a moderate advocacy stance on drugs. The problem with dope is that it's a "me" experience and it tends to create self-centered people. Not "free" people, self-centered. You got some creep that doesn't care about anyone else, when you meet him, he ain't gonna care about YOU. Political correctness? It would be awfully nice to think that there can be a basic plan in which people don't say rotten things to each other, but it's contrary to human nature. One of the earliest forms of human interaction is kids calling each other names, and we never 100% outgrow it. And those same kids who just might be better than average in outgrowing it are not going to succeed in force-evolving the rest of society. Like I said--human nature. I guess what it all boils down to is that when you listen to Carlin, don't expect to hear what you like as if he were an ideal political candidate. They ain't no sech animule. Anyone who seems like they are is manipulating you. If people would only realize that, there would be a lot fewer so-called "libertarians" who are really nothing but anarchists. If you don't like the incumbent, vote for the other guy. If you don't like an entertainer, there are other entertainers. But never, NEVER expect a "perfect 10"--ALWAYS take him at face value. That's why God invented cheering and booing--the same people do both at different points in the same performance. Carlin is brilliant sometimes and a real jerk some other times. It's best to allow for both eventualities. Like the glass that's either half empty or half full. What do they have in common? Both have water in them. That's what makes a Carlin album worth the price posted on this page. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Hilarious to a Ridiculous Degree
I am not a regular listener of the prank phone call genre so called, but these guys (or guy, I don't know) have made one of the funniest comedy acts I have ever heard.

I haven't laughed so hard for years. I laughed so hard, I was having aftershocks for the next two days.

For those with moral objections, I've heard others (like the Jerky Boys among others) and I believe the TTT are not as cruel as some of the others. A great majority of the TTT phone calls, the customers are laughing their butts off themselves, because it's unbelievably funny. The characters are excellently done, and their 'plots' are immaculately maintained. There was a lot of planning on this one, and some very impressive impromptu oratory.

I don't feel any moral reservations listening to this. I think it's an art form, and it's the funniest thing I have heard in a long while. A lot of the customers act like jerks themselves, which I think is an ironic twist to this CD. I can't stop listening to this, it's really, very funny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny Funny stuff!!!!
This CD is weird Americana! If you are tickled by listening to other people arguing to the point of losing their sanity then this CD is for you. What multiplies the comedic element is the fact that the callers initiated the prank upon themselves by dialing the wrong number. All of the calls on this CD develop into some sort of confrontation ...usually heated arguments! The above 30 second audio clips don't do the CD justice. Ya gotta hear the whole thing. This prank call CD is for those who find humor in stuff like Howard Stern, Jackass, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Prank Call CD ever.
I first heard of the Touch Tone Terrorists while watching an episode of "Crank Yankers" I went out and bought this CD a few months later. This is flat out the funniest CD ever. People who think they are calling the right people, (most of the time it's UPS) and have accidentally dialed the wrong number and get pushed around by Willie, Jim Bob and Blade until they lose it. The funniest is "Should Have Sent It Sooner" That womam and her husband completely lose it with Willie and Jim Bob and they start cursing a blue streak. What else is funny is that all these people thought they had the right number, if I dialed a number and heard one of these people over the phone I'd hang up and check to see if I had it right.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best on the market
This (and other TTT and Junk Yard) CDs are the best on the market. I made compellation disks for friends and family and have gotten nothing but rave reviews. One friend from work said that there should be a disclaimer (she is in legal) that this may cause car accidents from laughing too hard while driving. My mother says she is embarrassed in the car because people must think she is crazy laughing at a red light.
I have bought others in hopes for these laughs but none of the others have the lasting power of these (Jerky Boys, Tom Mabe, RD Mercer).
I am glad to have all 4 Willie CDs. Wish he would come out with another.

5-0 out of 5 stars WAY TOO FUNNY!!!
This is the CD for anyone who has ever answered a phone @ work and had a rude person on the other line!! ... Read more
