Relaxing
When I listen to Overcoming Obstacles I feel calm and relaxed. Melissa has a very soothing voice that helps put me into a tranquil state. This CD has helped me release my fear of writing creatively. I would highly recommend this CD.

A Wonderful, Relaxing Gift
I was given this CD as a gift and it certainly has been one. Living a hectic life in a big city leaves me drained and stressed out. I was looking for a tape that would help me to meditate, though I wasn't quite sure what that meant. Melissa Rose's calm reassuring voice just eases you immediately into this meditation thing. You can really feel yourself relax and your frantic brain calm. I definitely felt calmer and more rejuvented after listening and also more confident about dealing with life's dodgier side. I try to listen to it a couple times a week. If you already meditate or have been wanting too, but like me weren't sure what to expect...try this one!!!

Good for Relaxing, Motivating, and Building Confidence
I bought this CD about a year ago and recommended it to my friends since. I like the first part because it gives the theory behind the guided imagery and some good things to do to support your goals. I like the second part (the guided imagery) because it is very effective in helping me relax. I listen with earphones as I ride to and from work - someone else is driving, of course. The guided imagery uses allegorical images to remove the effects of self-doubt and to help the listener identify his/her higher self without explicitly saying that. I recommend that a few grammatically incorrect remarks be removed the next time this CD gets mass produced. It doesn't take away from the effect of the CD, but also doesn't reflect well on its professional quality. I recommend this CD to all interested in moving forward toward their goals.

Soothing and Empowering all at once
Melissa Rose has an incredibly soothing voice... It's actualy very sensual and relaxing. I find myself longing to hear her voice again even days after I listened to the CD.

Best thing since the discovery of chocolate.
I've tried a number of self-hypnosis and meditative recordings over the years, but none have had the ability to put me under as quickly or as deeply as this one. Ms. Rose has skillfully taken the audio hypnosis genre to a new level. In the introductory track, she immediately puts you at ease with a comfortable, friendly demeanor, speaking in clear, everyday language which allows you to build a sense of safety and trust. Some may be put off by the more familiar tone, but I found it refreshing.

In the second track, she guides you through a number of visualizations in a calm, low-key tone that seems to bypass much of the transient noise in your mind and speaks directly to your inner consciousness. Here, you are offered new perspectives, some very good imagery for overcoming personal roadblocks, a bit of regression to simpler times before such obstacles existed, and a wealth of positive and believable affirmations. The accompanying music is surprisingly good. Light and meandering, it never gets tiresome.

At the very least, you'll feel like you've had a long talk with a caring friend who wants to share a more positive perspective on life. I highly recommend this work and I'm not EVER selling mine. :) ... Read more

Puts me to sleep (but that's a good thing)
I have trouble staying asleep some nights, and I've recently found that certain types of music or sounds can put me in a relaxed state. Steven Halpern's "Chakra Suite" is one of the best for this purpose.

The chakra suite is supposed to be used to meditate on each of the seven chakras or power centers of the body. I am not one who meditates, on chakras or other things, but if you do meditate, this is supposed to be a good aid to focus one's energy and concentration. The bonus on this CD is the "Spectrum Suite" and another bonus, Sonic Satori thath is supposed to use the power of sonic entrainment. a psycho-acoustic technology with an effect on brainwaves.The music involves notes with 8 cycles per second, which is said to synch the brain to relaxed brain waves, for example:
Alpha - 8-12 CPS (associated with relaxed, calm, and creative waking state)
Theta - 5-7 CPS (associated with dreams, suggestive states, hypnagogic states)
Delta - 1-4 CPS (associated with deep, dreamless sleep)

Whatever the effect, I find playing one of the suites as I lie in bed, relaxes me to the point where I drop off easily. I also like it for a quick relaxation break during a stressful, long day.

Peace
There is a scientific principle called entrainment. If two items are vibrating side by side at different speeds then the item that vibrates at the lower speed will adjust to vibrate at the same frequency as the other object.

Examples of this are swings in a playground that are swinging out of sync and adjust. Also, in a clock store you may notice the pendulum clocks of the same size swinging back and forth in unison.

Applied to sound your different chakras or energy points vibrate at different frequencies and notes vibrating at a specific rate for a prolonged period will cause your energy points to reattune themselves, and bring your chakras back into balance, and promote a sense of well being and peace.

This cd applies these principles using swirling harmonics and overtones and beautiful instrumental sounds such as chimes and bowls including the rhodes piano to create an atmospheric sound.

I can feel the musical vibrations resonate thoroughout my body, and I certainly do feel more relaxed even after a short listen.

This record has been rated as groundbreaking by New Age Voice.

I highly recommend it.

VERY EFFECTIVE
I have listened to many different "chakra balancing" CDs, but this is the only recording where I have actually distinctly felt the sounds or appropriate chakras resonating the exact chakra spots - I could feel, without wondering if anything is happening, the sound vibrating in my body right where it's supposed to have an effect - so for that purpose, this is my favorite CD.

Totally relaxing and Works!
I love this CD, I listen to it daily to balance my chakras! Even if you don't believe it actually balances your chakras, it is beautiful and relaxing to listen to.

Incredible
While healing from a fractured ankle, I played this several times a day. I don't know if it accelerated my healing--I suspect it did. It certainly helped me to relax and deal with the inactivity. Peace & Joy
Wonderful CD! It's a joy to listen to! Some tracks were very calming, others were energizing...the benefits were apparent immediately. Dr. Chopra's voice was very soothing, and the lessons were very useful & comforting. The music was cool too.

I just finished listening to the CD. WOW! You have to experience the whole CD to get the benefits from it. I did listen to the tracks online before I ordered it. I had a hunch it would turn out to be a peace filling experience.... And it was! I recommend this CD to anyone who wants to relax and let go any tension in their body. It is simply amazing! I had heard about Deepak Chopra's books but this CD is pure healing.

Thanks For The Introduction To Mehdi
I've always enjoyed Steven Halpern and this album is no exception, but while reading some of the customer recommendations posted on this page I discovered an artist by the name of Mehdi (pronounced meddie). After some investigation I found his site (SoothingMusic.Com) and listened to the samples...
I was instantly blown away by the quality of this music and so I gave it a try and now that I have listened to his CDs several times I really must say that although I'm still a Halpern fan I find Mehdi to be a tad more interesting. I have them both in my multi-disc CD player and love the way they compliment each other. I highly recommend that you give this artist a try or atleast just go listen to the samples, I have a feeling you'll be glad you did.

Inner Peace Found!
Steven Halpern is a new artist to me. I haven't heard or listened to his music in the past, but I came across Inner Peace while searching for a nice yoga/meditation cd. I thought at first, "This looks like it'd work." Now that I have listened to it, I have no regrets for purchasing it. It was worth every penny and the music was unpredictable. Gentle, calm, and soothing to its listeners, this cd has become a crucial element in developing peace and relaxing.

Great Relaxation CD!
The best way to listen to this CD is with headphones, especially the last track. I also listen to this at night (without headphones) before I go to sleep-it definitely helped ease my anxiety while being unemployed.

Try it just once, and see what happens...
It is difficult to "rate" or "review" this kind of music, as the real value in the music resides inside the listener. May I suggest, if you have never been deliberate about relaxing or escaping life's stresses for a time, that you put yourself in a quiet, safe place, disconnect the phone, arrange your body in it's most comfortable position, and put a little pillow on your eyes to help you relax those muscles as well. Breath deeply and relax, and focus on the music. You will find yourself floating on gentle waves, in and out of thought, and will return to the real world physically and mentally refreshed, and thus more effective.

Delta Sleep CD is Great
I don't have any problems falling asleep-(waking up is a different story!)-but I bought this Cd along with The Alpha and Theta. This CD is awesome. How Dr. Jeffrey Thompson puts all these sounds together is always very beautiful and harmonious -no jolting sounds, so it's a smooth slide into dreamland. On this CD there is a more celestial vibe to the music, like your floating out of body deep in space, in the universe's womb (silly sounding but that's the image it conjures up for me). I can see how someone having trouble falling asleep would want this CD, something about it just makes it so sleep falls easy over you-one minute your awake and the next your deep asleep. I'd fall asleep with this CD on but I'm a side sleeper and the headphones would end up digging into my ears. If I had detachable headphones though I would listen to this CD every night. Instead I just listen to it until I'm in that hypogonic (sp?) state.

Worked very well for me. The music isn't bad either.
I bought this CD because I was sick of staring at the clock at 3:00 when I had to get up at 5:00. When I first recieved it I decided to try it immediately, in the mid-afternoon. All I remember from that first experience is about three minutes of hazy synthesizer music and then.........two hours later waking up. I didn't even mind sleeping with headphones on, which usually bugs me, even with the most peaceful music. Very impressive. That night I slept on the couch (no stereo in my bedroom at the time) and set the cd player to loop over and over all night. I occasionally woke up during the night but was asleep again in five minutes or less, and I had some very vivid dreams as well, which was cool. To avoid using headphones, I bought a portable cd player, a headphone jack splitter from Radio Shack, and two pair of small self-powered speakers. I placed one pair on the window sill above my headboard and the other pair on a table at my feet. This arrangement works very well as it places me inside the stereo soundfield no matter what, which Dr. Thompson recommends. I also bought his other sleep CD "Ambient music for sleep" and I recommend getting them both, but if you're only going to get one, I recommend this one, just because the general quality of the music seems better to me. It's also effective to play on your computer to keep you from being online all night.

Destroys the voices
For anyone that suffers from disruptive worry and dialogue in one's head, this is most definitely for you.

If you suffer from Schizophrenic symptoms, this will drown out the sudden disruptive memories without the harmful side effects of most medication.

Delta Sleep will prolong life by slowing metabolism when you need to slow it down and rest.

As someone who has suffered from mental anguish most my life, I highly recommend this as a remedy for similar ills.

Another sleepless night...
What a disappointment this CD was for me. I had read positive reviews about this CD, but unfortunately this piece of work didn't help me sleep at all. I have tried so many things for relaxation and getting to sleep, yet more $$ down the tubes. I'd love to hear about something that really works.

Very helpful sleep aid
I've had problems sleeping for years and have used medications such as Ambien to break the insomnia logjam. I've also used the Hemi-Sync products to sleep. Found out about this CD and also purchased Ambient Sleep. I loaded these on my MP3 player and use earbuds to listen. I play one or tracks through once and the MP3 player automatically shuts off. These CDS have worked for me to get me to sleep more quickly and seem to help me stay asleep longer. peaceful rejuvenation
This is a wonderful guided meditation cd. With Mary's soothing voice and the beautiful music I am able to go to a place of blissful peace and relaxation, yet I feel rejuvenated when I "return."

With the fast pace of our world it is a great way for me to let go of daily stresses and reconnect with myself. This CD has been extremely helpful!

The ease of listening to "The Ease of Being" CD
With all the wordly pressures of living here in the 21st century Mary Maddux's CD "The ease of being" is a "Must have". The calming music and Mary's kind and compassionate voice take you to a place where there is true peace, security, and total contentment.

Track 1: "A centering meditation" is just wonderful for bringing oneself into a focused state, where you can concentrate/meditate on any chosen subject, or embark on a journey into the far off reaches of your mind.

Track 2: "A healing meditation" is just that, this works just fine for mental & physical healing (I had a "Thumper" of a headache that just refused to vanish, but it went after I listened to this track) it helps you to look at the problem in hand and, as is most often the case, once you look at problems they're put into perspective and they either shrink to a size where you can acknowledge and work with them, or they disappear completely.

Track 3: "Flowing freely: An emotional healing meditation" works great when one has been emotionally battered and bruised, it recharges one's "Batteries" and and makes one emotionally whole once again, ready to take on those difficult and rough people/situations (that can leave you all to drained) with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.

All in all a 10 out of 10, or in this case a true 5 star recommendation, this is such a down to earth CD, and one that you'll surely not regret buying.

Soothing and Relaxing!!
As a Reiki Master/Teacher and spiritual advisor, I am always trying to get students and clients to meditate. "I get too distracted," or "I can't relax enough," are the complaints I ususally hear. I'm a big fan of this CD, as Mary's voice has a calming quality, and yet, it is captivating at the same time. Friends have told me that the CD does the trick for them! I have been recommending this CD to all my clients and students or anyone who has difficulty relaxing. I can't wait for her next endeavor!

Disappointed
I am good at meditation and I only bought this CD because I wanted to experience what it is like to get into guided meditation, feeling the "company" of someone else's voice.
I was very disappointed. The author uses endless sentences, very long phrases that, instead of helping, keep the listener waiting for her next words, wondering what she is going to say next or when she is going to finally put a semi-colon or a stop. More than guided meditation this looks like a lecture on how to meditate, a lecture one should have to *listen to* and *think about*. Though her voice and tone are correct, at times, the author seems to be looking for the right word, which rather than helping the listener keeps him wondering what is coming next... and hoping it comes soon.
In my opinion, short and repetitive phrases should be used in meditation- most specially with beginners- and that is precisely what the author has failed to provide.

This is good to help you sleep and....
I have so many Halpern CDs, its unbelievable. I recommend this one and several by Jeffrey Thompson, Delta Sleep System and the two CDs sets Music for Sleep Collections 1 and 2. Great!! I have no problems sleeping now that all of these are available for me to use. Never get bored with one, because there are now so many good selections to choose from. GO GET 'EM!!

Wonderful for PTSD/trauma survivors
Suffering from PTSD, this CD has helped me to cope with flashbacks. Before getting this CD, it used to take hours for me to fall asleep and even then, I had a very troubled sleep. Now, I play this CD every night as I go to sleep and within minutes, I am asleep. No more flashbacks at night, and the CD helps create a safe feeling inside.

It works!
I never hear the end of the CD because I fall asleep so quick. The music is so beautiful and peaceful. I recommend it for all people who have trouble falling asleep!

Out Like a Light! Wow
Actually, NOT out like a light because I fell asleep even before I could turn my light out. This cd is great. I purchased it because since the tragic events of September 11 I seem to have trouble falling and staying asleep. I put it on continuous play mode and woke up feeling (gasp!) eager and excited to face Monday morning. Give it a try.

VERY nice cd to have at your bedside.
This is my first Steve Halpern CD and I would have no reservations about getting more. The music is beautiful...it kind of weaves through your mind relaxing you. This meditation system makes some strange claims.
First off, these are some very relaxing cds. Got them as a gift, and i'm very happy with the gift, suited me perfectly. I don't relax well, think too much, etc.

If you're like me, and think too much, don't read the booklet that comes with the cds. They make some strage and false claims.

The most bizzare and glaringly false claim is that, "These recordings also use a nature sound not found anywhere else. In 1989 Dr. Thompson received from NASA recordings of space sounds taken from the Voyager spacecraft as it passed the outer planets of our solar system--Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune."

Well, I'm sure Voyager was recording plenty of stuff, but they sure weren't "sounds". Hollywood movies aside, there is no sound in outer space. There is no air in outer space, so there are no sounds to be recorded. Perhaps Dr. Thompson did receive sound recordings from Voyager, but you don't need a cd to hear silence.

The second odd claim is that, "Research has shown that theta states of mind can be induced through hearing sound pulses that match the speed of theta brainwaves (8-3.5 Hz). Using this scientifically tested principle, Dr. Thompson has built special theta frequency pulses into every sound track."

First off, no humans can hear sounds below 20 Hz, most ears don't even hear that low. So, even if these sounds are on the cds, you aren't hearing them. But, maybe they aren't there to be heard but instead act on your body, like the loud thundering at race car track that you feel vibrating your insides. Perhaps, but you don't have speakers that can produce sounds that low. Even most high-end sub-woofers don't go below 30hz. Some of the huge monsters in movie theaters can get down to 15-20 Hz, but unless you spent 50k on you home theater system, your speakers don't get that low.

Not saying the sounds aren't encoded on the cd, but your speakers aren't reproducing them. And if you know of speakers that make sounds as low as 3.5-8 Hz, i'm impressed.

That said, very chill cds. But obviously false claims like these sorta make me think this Dr. Thompson is a quack.

Very Effective!
One of the other reviewers agreed that the CD was very effective, but concluded that Dr. Jeffrey Thompson was a "quack" because the reviewer didn't understand how stereo speakers could possibly reproduce the very low frequencies for Theta: 5-7 CPS. The problem is that the reviewer was ignorant of the technology used by Dr. Thompson, which is only briefly referred to in the materials. Dr. Thompson utilizes a technology similar to that of the Monroe Institute, who has called it "Hemi-synch". The concept is that sounds are played on both the left and right stereo channels, and are electronically modified so that they are out of synch by the frequency you are trying to achieve in the brain...6 CPS, for example, if you want Theta brainwaves. This accomplishes two things: 1. It synchronizes the two hemispheres of the brain (a very good thing) and 2. It generates a 6 CPS pulse, which tends to entrain the brainwaves to that same frequency. This is a very, very effective technique, as is demonstrated by the effectiveness of the Theta Meditation System. I highly recommend these CDs for people who wish to attain the Theta state for relaxation or for personal metaphysical exploration. This is a proven technology, and far more effective than simple "New Age" relaxation music, since this technology directly drives the brain to create the frequencies desired.

Gets you into the Theta state
I have been using these CDs for meditation for about 4 month and I really enjoy them. They really bring me to the Theta state: half sleeping, half awake.

I bought this CD set together with several Brainsync's cassettes and after awhile stopped using Brainsync's in favor of this one.

I have just ordered and received Dr. Jeffrey Thompson's "Delta sleeping" and "Alpha relaxation". I hope they are of the same level as the "Theta".

Great for Chronic Pain Management
Part of the regimen my pain clinic designed for me is meditation - biofeedback. I also use meditation to help minimize the side effects of the pain management medications I'm on - all of which affect brain function. I use lots of different meditation CDs in different places and different times to help me function through pain, lessen the anxiety that comes with not being able to escape it, and keep my stress level down. It¿s a great value for the price
I am a junior at U.C Santa Crews and I am finding it deficit to relax at night with the pressure of school and work. I am looking for different and natural ways to relax and wake up refresh every morning to meet the challenges of the new day. I was skeptical at first, but I am willing to try anything once. After buying Journey into Deep Relaxation and listening to it for a few nights I have seen a noticeable difference in the morning after waking up. I feet like I slept a deeper then I had before thereby not feeling groggy when I wake up. I normally don't post things, but I have to recommend it. It was a good investment that I made.

Excellent CD
Bought this and Barry Pitkoff's. This is the best, hands down! I use this before a Reiki teaching session to reach meditative levels for my students, and this CD works superbly.

Doreen's gift
Doreen's CD came into my life during a extremely rough period of stress and life changes. For the first time in my life I was having trouble sleeping and experiencing panic attacks. Deeper Sleep
A friend recommended that I purchase this guided imagery. I am a midlife woman dealing with a lot of health and personal issues. I wake up in the night and have a hard time returning to sleep. Regeneration
I don't usually make promises about any product I review. But as I sit and listen to this right now, I can promise with confidence that if you purchase "Gifts of the Angels" you are indeed receiving a Gift. I find myself, when I am overwhelmed or exhausted, fetching this cd with surprising ease from many. And every single time, It Regenerates me. This is a rare feat which attests to "Gift of the Angels" allure and the cleansing, healing power that is found within. I believe, like only a handful of cds, that I was meant to find this. And that is an encouraging thought... ~_^

I love all kinds of Music. But it appears these days, I am drawn more and more to peaceful, meditative Music such as "Gifts of the Angels." (Funny, but I am filled more with Peace than I have been in a long time. Perhaps we seek out Music that represents our state of mind...I don't know. Or maybe we take on the emotions/message of what we listen to most. Again I don't know.)

I remember how upon the first listen I didn't care for "Gift of the Angels" that much. The truth is, I didn't Get it. I wasn't Ready for it. Ah, but I felt there was something THERE. Whatever it was, it drew me to listen again and again. And I am so glad it spoke to me and continues to do so. If you are still reading this, and your "Peace" cds are in short supply, please purchase this and truly listen and Allow it to Regenerate you. You deserve that and every Joy. Many wonders await you. Excellent for yoga...
This CD is one of the few I don't have to worry about getting "weird" on me while teaching yoga. It's soothing, and agreeable to all my students. Several even went and bought their own copies! I'd lost my original CD, so I'm happy to be able to order a replacement. I strongly recommend it for yoga, massage, or just for relaxing.

Divine sounds
This is great music for relaxation and meditation or to recharge your psychic batteries. It's a compilation with similar-sounding tracks drawn from a wide variety of his albums, like Radiance, Inner Peace, Ancient Echoes and Spectrum Suite so it all hangs together nicely. There's lots of ethereal choirs and spacey melodies. My favorite by far is the uplifting, even rousing, Pachelbel's Canon and the delicate Eternally. Ideal for using as a soundtrack to the practices of holistic healing or just to destress and reclaim your inner piece.

This is like floating in heaven!
I love the concept of keeping all the songs in the same basic style. This is a luminous halo of sound. The angelic anthology features the sounds of a celestial choir (A digitally sampled human choir recorded in a cathedral.) You will hear piano, harp and ethereal sounds.

I heard a few similar sounds in this CD which I had heard in other recordings, however this one is especially inspiring.

To me, it sounds like what you might hear if you were floating out in space and you could hear angels singing. It also feels like you could be a star falling slowly through the sky, just observing the earth. This music makes you feel as if you are floating above the earth. Close your eyes and you will see what I mean. Listen to: "Gifts of the Angels" and "Awakening."

Mr. Rogers Neighborhood Meets New Age
I love ethereal, ambient, healing New Age. I have at least 250 CDs of this genre in my collection. This will not be #251. Do you remember the electronic piano/casio electric keyboard sound of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood? It is in most of the songs on this album. The few songs that don't have this are decent, but if you want truly healing, contemplative music, try Liquid Mind, Anugama, Raphael or others like them.

You can't believe how nice these are....
I am nuts over Mr. Halpern's music and uses for it. I just bought another one and wanted to mention how I loved it. It is called Music for Healing by Steven Halpern, Just came out this year and it was part of a box set called Sound Medicine. Nice and inexpensive for three CDs. Halpern makes great music and has a fan for life.

Puts me to sleep! I love it!
I have been purchasing Steven Halpern's CD's for quite a while and now I have a nice little collection. This specific CD reminds me of a place you can go which is completely peaceful.

I love the healing compositions and the grand piano, electric piano, harp and flute. I really think the harp is what makes this so relaxing. It sounds silly, but you really think you are in heaven if you just close your eyes. This music just takes you away to a peaceful place. What it almost does is hypnotize you to sleep.

Dr. Weil also recommends music for healing. I can fell it working. If stress causes disease, which is does, then why not benefit from relaxing music.

Unique, the Best I've Heard
Dr. Halpern's talents shine on this CD. I had many relaxation CD's, but after hearing this one, I threw away all but this one. Everyone needs relaxation for good health. This CD is the best of the best!

Best of album
This is a best of CD with subliminal messages added. I was disappointed when I heard songs that I've already heard. The albumn is pretty good. I do find it relaxing. I just would have liked to known that the songs are not original before purchasing it.

Effectively Calms and Relaxes
I bought this for my partner who was having difficulty with panic/anxiety attacks. She already had self-hypnosis CDs for reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation, but her favorite is this album. After listening to it I could understand why. The songs are the epitomy of peacefulness in music, and are simply beautiful. The subliminals that are within the music, are printed inside the jacket cover, and are very wonderful affirmations to help with relaxing. I love this tape for meditating, falling asleep, or as pleasant background music.

Relaxing
I listened to this CD on a long car trip with my friends, and we all agreed that it made us feel more relaxed. I sometimes notice that I breathe easier and deeper when I have the CD on - a couple of the (subliminal) affirmations are about breating deeply and effortlessly - breath rate is one of the true indicators of relaxation. I could do without the affirmation that says something like "my body is an instrument that resonates harmoniously with the music" (all affirmations are printed on the inside CD booklet), but what the hey. I find all the other subliminal affirmations to be quite satisfactory. This CD relaxes me quite effectively, and I have gotten into the habit of not wanting to drive without anywhere without it! ... So relaxing, I've never heard the last few songs!
I say the above because I use this CD to fall asleep to...and I have yet to hear the last few songs, because I'm always fast asleep before the CD is over! There is nothing more relaxing than the sound of soft ocean waves and the tinkling of piano keys. Steve Halpern has done an excellent job with this CD. It is so relaxing that I've ordered it for my cousin, who has brain cancer and has trouble sleeping because of treatment. I am sure this CD will help calm her, and you.

Very good, but a bit short.
The good thing about this CD is that it really helps sleep! Both my wife and I sleep very fitfully. In an act of desperation we ordered this CD. The fantastic news is that now we actually sleep better! We have it on repeat the whole night. The music is very calming. We have it on when we read and let us relax us gently. The only negative thing I have on it is that it is a bit short.

Finally, I can sleep!
I got this sleep CD out of desperation (I had been struggling with stopping the barrage of thoughts from stampeding my mind each night making it very hard to fall asleep). Much to my delight, it works. Sometimes I fall asleep while it's still playing; other times I'm still awake when it's over, but my mind has slowed enough that I eventually fall asleep.

I don't love the tink-tink sound of Chinese music, so I keep it at a barely audible volume on my stereo. It still works great.

SEDATIVE WITHOUT SIDE-EFFECTS
Picked this up from a small shop on the outskirts of Tokyo so am rather surprised that Amazon should have this CD up for sale, surely this music must be putting a lot of people to sleep. Which is the intended purpose, so I guess it's a compliment. I am not sure if such music evokes any "Yin energies" (as the cover jacket claims) but the near-therapeutic sounds of quaint Chinese instruments are quite effective in soothing. Wonderful CD!
I am a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist and it is difficult to find just the right music to use. This CD fits the bill! It is very relaxing to me and to my customers. It's beautifully done and all one track. It has just enough rythmn for the massages that I give. Great CD!

Perfect for Khemetic/Pagan/Meditation devotees
If I could give this a 10, I would!

I've been on the quest for good sacred space/meditation music for quite some time. I took a risk since, I really couldn't tell by the sound bytes if I'd like it. I brought it home, lit some incense, candles and got comfortable whilst I pressed 'play'. For me, it was like magic. "At first, the metallic-stringed harp reminded me of Japanese music, but as the album moves along, there's something not quite Asian, African or Middle Eastern -- but definitely mystical. I would think Markoe tapped into the "Eternal Now" so aptly put on the first track of the CD. My small, cramped bedroom was turned into a temple and I, its priestess. Well done! The great thing is that each track can apply to a specific ritual or practice and their names reflect that. The first song, I used for meditation (simply programmed to repeat over and over). The next one is great for morning or "pre-dawn devotion" as described and so on. Quite versatile and yet it doesn't command one's attention, so you can easily meditate, sleep, do yoga or journal to it without being mesmerized by the melodies. ... Read more

This CD is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!
Allen Holmquist's MEDITATIONS FOR WEIGHT LOSS is a wonderful tool to be used in conjunction with relaxation and weight loss theraphy. Mr. Holmquist has a very convincing, soothing voice and this CD was just what I was looking for. As everyone knows, diets don't work so we have to work on feeding our hungry minds and emotions as much as what we put in our mouths. I listen to this tape every morning before I begin my day and it is puts me in such a great mood and relaxes all my tensions away. Meditation should be an integral part of all of our lives but so often we can't afford or don't have the time for personal hypnosis theraphy on a regular basis. This CD gives you all the tools you need to get to that subconcsious place you want to be. Every day of my life someone told me I wasn't OK in some form or another because I was fat. Great CD!
I really enjoy listening to this CD. It's fairly relaxing, but it doesn't put me to sleep by any means. What surprised me is that it is musically very imaginative (even intriguing). It combines music and sounds in a way that I can't say it's a music CD or a natural sounds CD; it doesn't fall neatly into any category.

Soothing music =mini vacation without leaving urban world
I absolutely love this CD! I used to find it very hard to get in a peaceful mood to sleep. I live in an apartment where our paper thin walls make it very hard for me to shut out distractions but with headphones and the 3-D music surrounding me like a cocoon,it pushes the everyday world back a little. The waterfall sounds and the sounds of birds make me feel like I'm in a rainforest, a place seperate from the everyday world filled with the jolting sounds of horns, people, and stress stress stress!
