Lively, upbeat walking workout for intermediate walkers!!
I've been an aerobic walker for about 8 years. It's very hard to locate music designed for an aerobic walking workout performed by original artists. This CD is a find!!! It starts at a pace of 120 beats per minute and builds to 134 beats per minutes in 11 selections. The last selection is the cool down at 120 beats per minute. This pace is great for an intermediate walker - a workout, but not fast enough that you feel you need to jog. It is an hour-long workout and the songs are "blended" together so there's no gap in the music. Most of the 70's songs are easily recognizable and I find myself singing to them as I walk. I'm sure you'll enjoy the CD.

After walking for exercise for over a year, I was getting bored with the music I had. This CD is wonderful for keeping your pace, starting slower, picking up to 4.3 mph and then slowing to cool down. Even though these songs are from way back, it's great to hear again. I will try more of these CD's.

upbeat music
I've had my cd for a week now and I love it. It starts out a little slow, but then again, I hate to warm up so it is probably good for me. I like to hit the trail walking at a brisk pace so I usually start on song #3. I love the music and I probably look crazy to people driving by. This cd has definately added a quickness to my step and an energy to my walk. I plan to buy more music!

Great for Aquatics
I teach an aquatic shaping and toning class and this is my favorite CD. The class, which varies in age from 30 - 70, enjoys this music and it contains nothing objectionable. I only wish SHAPE would put out some more of this great stuff.

Great songs, mid tempo walking
I have 3 of the Shape walking CD's and this is a good one if you like disco. This CD has a good pace if you are wearing ankle weights and pushing a stroller (as I do). If you are just walking on your own though I'd recommend one of the faster Shape CD's. Modern rock is a good one. ... Read more

Good walkin'
This is an excellent walking tape. I use it on the treadmill at the gym, and I can normally walk about 3.5 mph on this one. I break a sweat by the time it's over...and yes, it is lively music; just the kind you want to walk to!

Too slow for me
I go to an advanced-step aerobics class at my gym. We usually work with songs with a 140-145 bpm. I'd heard that this was a great CD for that type of class...boy was I fooled!! It is just way too slow for me. The highest bpm in this CD is 126. We don't even warm-up to that! I know, the CD even said "Moderate Pace", I should've known. Also, these songs are very lame. I don't know what happened to SHAPE this time. These songs can be anything you want, but hits they are NOT. Anyway, if you really want a CD for an fun, fast-paced aerobic work out, I don't recommend this CD.

Upbeat music but not exactly "hits"
When I think of "hits," I think of songs that hit and stayed on the charts. Most of these songs don't fit that category. In fact, I didn't recognize most of them.

That said, this is a lively mix of music that keeps you moving. It won't be my favorite in my exercise collection, but I will use it and enjoy it.

Great Pace, Good Music
This is really a great workout CD. The songs are very lively and motivating and the pace is pretty steady and consistent. It runs at about 125 beats per minute which allows for optimum performance of step aerobics and kick boxing workouts, but also works well for running, ab workouts, etc. I highly recommend this CD for anyone who wants to workout and have fun at the same time!!

Keeps you motivated

BPM too high for aerobic classes
Although the music is fun and energetic, it is not really suitable for a step or cardio kickboxing class. If you are relying on BPM to count out moves, the pace of this CD averages about 140-145 which is generally too fast to perform moves without the risk of injury. On the other hand the sound is very motivating and energetic (if you are in to '70's hits) and works well as background music for an individual workout.

Hard rock. Has very little beat. Noise mostly from guitars and other stringed instruments.

Good music!
My husband actually enjoys this c.d. more than I do. I was an 80's teen but I guess I listened to more new wave music than he did. If you liked these songs then, then you'll love to work out to them now! I would definetly recommend the quality of the c.d. and how upbeat and quick the music is for working out!!

Absolutely Horrible
I bought this CD based on the reviews, as I noticed several other people did. I was especially influenced by the person who wrote "I love this CD"...This has to be the absolute worst collection of workout songs I've ever heard--from the pace, to the content, to the horrific effect it has on your ears. This CD did nothing to motivate me to work out. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I JUST WANT TO STOP
I PURCHASED SHAPES: WALK 2, WALK 1, AND CARDIO 2. THE SAMPLE SONGS IN CARDIO 2 SOUNDED PRETTY GOOD, AND I NEEDED A FASTER PACE CD SO I ORDERED THE CARDIO 2. WHILE I ENJOY USING THE WALK 2 SOMETIMES I WOULD LIKE TO GO LONGER THAN AN HOUR. SO I PUT ON THE CARDIO 2 CD AND BY THE TIME THE FOURTH SONG IS ON I CAN'T WAIT TO STOP MY WORKOUT. IT'S SO DISAPPOINTING TO THROW MONEY DOWN THE DRAIN.

I really liked it!
I'm an aerobics instructor. The music is a bit fast for step aerobics at @136 beats per minute, but if you have the equipment to slow it down a notch, it works great. You could also use it at regular speed for regular aerobics and of course walking. It keeps you going for an entire hour. I really like "Its my Life" and "Beautiful Life". Really good workout music.

A must have!
This CD really gets me going - it has a great mix of tunes at just the right speed. The music brings back memories of my pre-baby "skinny nights" out at the clubs. My advice: Crank up this CD and slap an old picture of yourself in your cutest club going outfit on your treadmill - MAJOR INCINTIVE!

Gr-8 CD!
I feel this is a very good CD. It has a great compilation of very cool songs I hear often at clubs. Also, songs blend seemlessly together which is a real plus! The only reason why I rate it with 4 stars is that I was expecting songs with higher beats per minute, since I want to use it for my advanced-step class where we usually work with 142 bpm. The highest in this CD is 138. But still, it's great to work up a good sweat and have fun at the same time!

This is Motivation!
I love to work out to this CD! It keeps me pumping. The tempo is right, I just wish I could find another like it. If music makes the difference in your work out, then buy this one!

The speed of this CD
People need to know that this CD runs from 135 beats per minute to 138. It stays pretty steady. I have found that the BPM is about what my heart rate gets to on any of these shape CDs. ... Read more

Shape Fitness Music - Walk 1: '60s Hits
The music on this CD is great for treadmill walking as well as outdoor walking. The songs are suited to a walking pace and lively. Most songs are so familiar you are encouraged to sing along which makes exercise more fun. The pace is good for beginners in the 3 mph range, and are not too fast to add hand weights and still keep up. The only changes I would sugggest is adding a third workout, as the other two are only 20 minutes and adding a cue when one workout starts and the next begins, to give enough time to get off your treadmill to switch or stop the CD before it goes into the next workout.

Fun-loaded Energy
The music, tempo (at 3 miles/hour)on this tape is tremendous and I highly recommend this title to anyone even contemplating a brisk walk workout. The music of the 60's (original music and artists) including the Beach Boys, Jackie DeShannon, The Impressions, Everly Brothers, is geared for singing and almost dancing along with during your walking workout. This music energizes, stirs endorphins and gives a really good time to the point that you won't want to stop. I normally enjoy a walk at about 4 miles p/hour and although this music is a bit slower than that, I love this tape. I started out to walk just 30 minutes but went the entire hour then turned the tape back to start and continued on... Buy it!

Great Beginner's Workout
A nice, gentle workout for beginners. A strong, sustained beat to great music. The songs are seamlessly tied together so that not a beat is lost going from one piece to another. The quality of the recordings is great. Altogether, well worth the price.

A toe-tapping good workout
Two 30 minute workouts take you back to the days of Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye, and Mockingbird. A great way for beginners to get walking, even if you start with the Harlem Shuffle! The pace of this Cd
People need to know that the pace of this CD goes from 122 beats per minute at the first cut, all the way up to 143 bpm before cooking down to 120 beats per minute at the end.

Great music mixed perfectly!
Actually Shape did a great job with many recognizable hits and several high energy dance songs flowing together for a super power workout-I use this one every week! It's hard to find all original hits on fitness tapes - because of restrictions I think - so THANKS SHAPE for continuing to make the best! By the time I get to "New Attitude', I know its almost time for my fav song "Rock Steady"-the COOL-DOWN!

Worst Music Ever
I don't know what the other reviewers have listened to, but it wasn't this CD. With all the great music out there Shape could have done MUCH better. All but two of the songs are horrible. The lyrics contain about 4 words and are repeated over and over, and they all sound the same. I power walk to music for an hour 5 days a week and usually love it. With great music the hour passes quickly. With this CD it goes on for ever!

Great Tape for Motivation
I have 4 of the Shape cassette tapes, and I think that this one and Cardio 2 are the best if you powerwalk or run. I need this type of motivation at 5 a.m. Highly recommend the Shape series.

High Energy...yeah baby!
I definitely look forward to my walks with this music. I have the cassette, and the production quality is very good...seamless transition between tunes and clear headphone sound (much different than the tapes I've made for myself in the past!) All Fitness Conditioning
I just ratcheted up my power walking with All Fitness Conditioning. Wow!! The best CD yet, although I would like to see two titles changed to "So Many Women, So Little Time", and "It's Raining Women". Even us old men can still dream...

Shape Fitness MUsic: All Fitness Conditioning: Hi-NRG favori
This is my favorite of the SHAPE tapes, and they are all quite good. I bought this because i like JUMP, however, i find the beat to each selection excellent for what I am doing,which is fast paced walking. I love it!!!

Disco Muzak
This is my first Shape Fitness Music CD series purchase. After listening to it, I now realize why I don't have very many disco era music in my collection.

I only recognized one song and artist on this CD - "Jump" by the Pointer Sisters. It's the one song that I really liked. Everything else on this CD sounded the same. You hear and can get a good heart rate by listening to the beat, but after awhile, it all blends into one. It's almost like listening to elevator muzak.

This is a CD that I will probably only work-out with once every couple of months. I don't think I could handle listening more than that.

If the other SHAPE CDs have original artists hits, I'd recommend getting those before this SHAPE CD.

I love this workout!
I have had this CD for over a year and still love to get out and move with it. The beats are easy to hear but not distracting. It will give you an excellent workout, especially if you are in shape enough to walk the beats on hills! I have just purchased Cardio 2 and can't wait to rock n roll with it.

GREAT for SPINNING CLASS
We use this in our spinning class at the gym and it is GREAT!!!! We never stop moving......

Terrible Music
After listening to Cardio 2 which was very good, Cardio 3 was a real disappointment. It did not sound like original artist music to me. The beat was fast, which was okay, but I tried listening twice, and I couldn't stand it. I like disco, but this was garbage.

Horrible Music
BMP to fast for ellipitcal or treadmill. Music was of poor selection. I wasn't moving and grooving. But, it does keep you instep.

The pace is moderate to quick
People ought to know that the pace of this cd runs from 136 beats per minute to 144 before cooling down.

Deep Water Aerobics

I love this CD! (...)
(...)I love this CD! The percussion driven music is so good you want to listen just for that. Combined with Eric Wilson's warm, rich voice giving brief and timely instructions to guide your fitness workout, this is a great way to move to the music. You choose the method (aerobic floor exercise, walking, running, etc.) and this CD provides a background of mesmerizing rhythms, African beats, jazz, and much more. This is the CD to buy!

Incredibly motivating!!
Not only did the highly motivating music get me off the couch, but the instruction kept me interested and going througout my entire workout. The music is very uplifting and I particularly liked the challenges, making it possible for a more strenous workout when wanted. Not only do I use this CD at the gym, but I started listening to it at home and it has made cleaning the house a lot more fun!

WORK IT, MOVE IT, SHAKE IT...
If you want to get your bootie movin then this is the cd for you. Not only is the music fantastic but you definately feel inspired to move your body to the beat. The music alone makes this cd worth buying. The fitness narration combines a perfect blend of poignent instruction where needed without talking your ear off the whole time. It allows you to become immersed in the beat and the workout without too many distractions. Just enough narration to keep you aware of the different phases of the workout. This is definately the best fitness cd out there to get your bootie movin!!!

Get Sweaty
If you need some music to get your ass off the couch, this one will do it for you. It starts with a mellow beat, but the narrator quickly gets you into the groove with some serious rhythm. Great for taking to the gym or on a run. I even listen to it in the car.

Original, interesting and inspiring
This workout cd is very original in its use of acoustic sounds to motivate the listener. The layers upon layers of hand drums take me back to memories of drum circles I've danced with in my past. It is much more complex though in it's use of beautiful instruments that not only motivate but inspire the listener to move their body. The Very Best of SHAPE Music
Without a doubt, this is the best of SHAPE's cardio fitness music. This from a 68 year old guy who's power walked to them all. I was especially "moved" by selection #4, "A Whiter Shade of Pale." It really got the old legs a pumpin'

Shape Fitness Music: Cardio 4
I bought Carido 4 and Walk plus 2 and I like both of them. I listen to them when I walk on the threadmill and eclipse in the gym or walk in the neighbourhood. They kept me going. The beat in the music is great whether I walk or run. I recommend buy two of them Will not disappoint to buy them

Shape does it AGAIN!!! 138-142 BPM Go HARD!!
Since there are no details of this CD listed in the item description, I put my faith in SHAPE and ordered this CD not knowing what kind of music was on it. This CD was released Feb. 2003 and is the latest addition to the series.
This is GLOBAL DANCE MUSIC! Very fast Very Rhythmic and I did 50 minutes of Cardio just dancing around my living room! It wasnt pretty but Im sure I burned some calories.
Songs are Castles in the Sky, Silence, Turn to You, and other dance music favorites. I own all but the slowest of the Shape Fitness Series CD's as I like a nice beat even if I can't keep up yet! Even at the peak of fitness these CD's will still be great to workout to. I recommend them all! Flawless mixes, blended perfection. Can't wait for the next one. If you see a woman at the Gym on the elliptical with a big smile on her face and sweat down her back, it might be me listening to my Shape CD's. ... Read more

It's true that "nobody walks in L.A.," but this '80s-rock exercise collection could change all that. The Missing Persons song is missing, for obvious reasons, but that only makes room for what (by rock-of-the-'80s-compilation standards) is a relatively inspired selection. MY KIND OF MUSIC THEN....AND NOW!
I haven't heard a lot of these songs since the mid 80's in high school. Hearing them now, and working out to them now, make me strive harder to get back to the shape I was in back then!! If you loved new wave music then this is a must have!!!

Good music for children of the 80's
This is a fun and motivating CD for all of us who grew up in the 80's. The songs are pretty fast-paced, but the music is up-beat so the workout goes fast.

Molly Ringwald Flashbacks!
This is a huge return to the eighties. Throughout my walk I was bombarded with images of my high school years. But I do have to say, the pace is perfect for walking.

I purchased this CD because I wanted to shed a few of those leftover baby pounds. So far I'd have to say that it's been pretty effective in that arena. The pace is quick, great to keep you going, but not too fast for walking with the jogging stroller.

And a simple warning for those of you with young babies. These songs, while kicky and fun, have a way of seeping into the crevices of your brain. It is for this very reason that I suggest skipping song #13 entirely. If you are up at two AM feeding a hungry baby, and this little ditty pops into your head, honey, you may never get back to sleep!

I made a fool of myself...
... singing and "dance-walking" along the boardwalk at Jones Beach State Park last weekend. This CD is packed with the music of my club years. The beat is FAST. With my short little legs I generally do this particular 4 mile walk in an hour, but with this CD I finished (with blisters) at around 50 minutes. I also popped it in the player at a poolside party on Sunday afternoon and my fellow 40-somethings thoroughly embarrassed their children by dancing on the deck (without the assistance of alcohol!) the rest of the afternoon.

exercise cd
It's a good selection of songs, but mostly an 'exercise tape'. The sound quality's good, but all tracks run together (no breaks) and the tempo of some tracks (specifically Send Me an Angel) is speeded up to match some desired pace.

Not Typical of Arkenstone
I do not own any other Arkenstone, mostly because I haven't heard anything from him that I'd want, to be frank. After buying this CD I looked up several of his other works and gave them a listen, but I didn't like anything else enough to buy it.

I walked into a store one day and this CD was playing on their stereo and I just fell in love with it. I bought it without even looking to see who wrote it. It has wonderful peaks and swells, as well as its share of more somber moments. Overall, I find it to be very robust and stirring. I can be energized by it (and frequently am!) or I can close my eyes and imagine tibetan natives playing this music just for me. Either way, it makes for a very uplifting musical experience, which makes this CD one of my "New Age" favorites.

2 Different CDs
The first CD is pretty slow, too slow for my step aerobics class to enjoy. The 2nd CD is one of my favorites... be aware of a dirty song (although the ladies in my class get really pumped from it!). I find that if you talk enough during your class they don't really catch all the words (there are bad words in one song). But I have to admit, it's my favorite song on the CD! Not so hot first CD, really good 2nd CD. Worth the price.

Warning
The other reviewer may use this for her classes, but if that's what any other potential buyer has in mind, then you should know that Disc 2, which has the better, faster beat, includes one foul, foul song by 2 Live Crew. Sorry, but a lot of women in my class bring their kids in, and including a song about how much the singer loves naked women shaking their ... and ...just doesn't work. That's the only song with that problem, but it makes the disc unusable. And Disc 1 is just too slow to work up a sweat to. If you don't mind the crudeness of the 2 Live Crew song for yourself, then Disc 2 is great to use for working out at home.

This CD keeps you going
I teach a Cardio Karate Class and this CD really keeps the class moving. It also tells me how many Beats per Minute each song has and how long they are. Both CD's have songs for Warm Up, Cool Down's and Post Cardio/Floorwork. The nice part about this album is the music never stops when switching to the next song, it blends in together. ... Read more

This CD Gets You Through It!
If you need a soundtrack for your daily 30 to 45 minute walking routine -and- you like radio and dj mixes of some known and unknown eclectic tunes (vs. straight performances of songs you are already familiar with), this CD can get you through it with a smile on your face. Actually, I got the CD several years ago (when it was first released) but it took me some time to really appreciate the eclectic style of the music (it's a bit of soul and urban, techno and rock, with a dash of top 40 in there, too) and how well-timed and motivating the backbeats and the pace are. Once you use it a couple of times for your serious walking or other workout, you're gonna like how it keeps you moving. The 12 cuts add up to about 48 minutes. Workout with Jane on the move!
As any Fondette (A follower of Jane Fonda Aerobics) or fitness enthusiast will tell you, one of the hardest things is to maintain your fitness program whilst on the move. Now, thanks to Jane Fonda's Complete Workout CD, you can just bring your CD diskman where ever you go and play!
What is so great about this workout?
Jane has taken her most popular workout (to this day it is still popular) and modified it for using in different than normal places (small spaces) It comes with a poster so you can follow along. You can still burn alot of pounds with this, just like the visual verson.
