5-0 out of 5 stars I have NEVER laughed so hard in my life!
I had heard Rodney on XM Comedy, and decided to buy into his albums. Best place to start is right here. He had me laughing hard enough to wet myself (I didn't). Think of Tim Wilson with the foulest mouth you ever heard, and some of the funniest stuff ever performed! I'm buying ALL of his albums now. ALL OF THEM!

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally the greatest hits!!
Rodney Carrington is the funniest country comedian to date. Sure Jeff Foxworthy is funny, but he is no match for Rodney. The best songs on this are: Titties and Beer and Letter to my Penis. This man is a comedy God. His skits are funny as anything. I would reccomend this cd to anyone who is interested. True he may not be for everyone. He can be a bit vulgar at times and a bit disgusting. But if you are willing to take a walk on the wild side, buy this record and listen to it over and over again. You will laugh your ass off. I'm not just saying this because he lives in Oklahoma and so do I, I'm saying this because it is true. Plus he was born in Texas! But back to the subject at hand, truly get this cd and listen to it. I reccomed it to anyone who will listen. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Moments with Jerry Clower
My husband is a big fan of Jerry Clower I think that he has them all on Tape. I got him 10 New C.D. and am trying to get more on C.D.'s. I am looking for 17 more C.D.'s of Jerry Clower's. Does anyone out there know where I might beable to get them? The ones I have are: Ledbetter Olympics, Great Moments, More Good 'Uns, Legendary Clower, Live at Dolly Wood, Peach & Possums, More Clower Power, Greatest Hits, and Country Ham. huntons@strato.net If you could help me out Thanks. Linda

5-0 out of 5 stars A Real Comic Genius
You won't hear any cuss words or risque material in Mr. Clower's comedic monologues, but what you will hear is clean, real-life comedy that comes from the heart. Having a young daughter, I have to watch what I listen to and watch when she's around. I have no problem listening to Mr. Clower with her in the room. When she gets old enough to understand things a little better, I'm going to let her listen to this album.
If you grew up in the South, especially Mississippi or Louisiana, Clower's stories should hit right at home. Granted, today's South is a lot different from Clower's days, but everyone has heard a story or lived an adventure along the same lines at some point if they lived in the southern states. These stories brought back a lot of memories for me, especially the hunting stories.

Sit back and remember the good ol' days with this album, or if you're a yankee, listen anyway and get jealous. This is clean fun for everybody, and the stories are nothing but enjoyable.

Knock'im out, John.

5-0 out of 5 stars good stories and good humor
No one tells stories like Mr.Clower.I saw him at fair a few months before he passed away and I got to meet him and even have his autograph. His stories are great, and funny. This is a good introduction to Jerry Clower.Only flaw is the sound quality of the disc isn't that great.

5-0 out of 5 stars The funniest album ever released
If there is a funnier album that Jerry Clower's Greatest Hits, I don't know what it could possibly be. Every cotton-picking one of these tracks is downright hilarious. Coon Huntin' Story is my favorite, and it goes way back to Jerry Clower's earliest recording days. I don't know where it was recorded, but you can actually hear a phone ringing in the background at one point during the story. What makes this particular story even funnier is a certain audience member who starts cackling uncontrollably when Jerry gets up to the "knock him out, John" part at the end. If laughing uncontrollably in public embarrasses you, you will want to go off by yourself and listen to this one. Another of Jerry's best-loved stories is Marcel's Talkin' Chain Saw; if you don't know who Marcel Ledbetter is, you really need to listen to this one. Coon Huntin' Monkey is a laugh riot, and The Chauffeur and the Professor has the audience rolling in the aisles. You won't find a story here less than a couple of minutes in length, whereas several of Jerry's regular albums feature a lot of short and therefore less comical bits. I'm not sure all of these stories would make it on my own list of Jerry's greatest hits, but they are all more than capable of adding some much-needed laughter to your day. You don't have to worry about listening to this album once and putting it away forever, either; you'll want to listen to this album time and time again. Jerry Clower was just naturally funny; the only thing funnier than his stories is the unique and unforgettable way in which he tells them. You feel like you know the man as soon as he starts talking; he is just folks, as we might say here in the South. This is good, clean comedy that everyone, no matter how young or old, can listen to and enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better then Bisquits and Gravy
I saw Mr. Clower live in the early 1970's in Dallas, Texas. I have collected his albums and tapes since then. The funniest thing that I remember about Jerry is seeing him in a canary yellow leisure suit.

The stories he tells makes his characters more realistic than any other comedian. We will miss you Jerry. ... Read more

I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!!

Jeff Foxworthy is my hero

5-0 out of 5 stars You might buy this album if........
This is an excellent stand up album. I think it's better then his later one Games Rednecks Play. You might be a Redneck tracks are Jeff going You Might Be a Redneck if .... then describing an hilarious red neck stereotype. For example, If you've ever financed a tattoo and If you go to the Family Reunion to Meet Women. There's two of those tracks on this album and they're hilarious.

He also talks about words used in the south, his life as a father and being married. Ugly kids with parents who don't know is a funny topic as well as others. He talks about single life being hard which is the same as a lot of the song titled Party All Night on Games Rednecks Play.

5-0 out of 5 stars So hilarious, it's dangergous to drive!
There should be a warning label: "Do not drive or operate machinery while listening" Jeff is so funny, it's almost too dangerous to drive while listening. I laughed so hard I could hardly drive.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's Not That Funny
In my opinion, Jeff Foxworthy isn't one of the great comedic geniuses of our time. Now, its not that I don't get what he's saying. I'm a white person who lives in a rural area, so I have seen rednecks and whitetrash, some on an everyday basis. It's just that the whole "You Might Be A Redneck If..." jokes have been around for years and have become extremely stale. The only people that still like this are unemployed guys that spend all day listening to the local country station in their trailor talkin about the "good old days back at the farm" and "huntin stories". I reccomend Dave Chapelle over this crap. At least Chapelle is creative.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jeff Foxworthy's Best Album! Absolutely Hilarious!
Jeff Foxworthy may have been a popular comedian years before, but it was still surprising to see YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF... selling millions of copies in 1994. This album was his breakthrough, the time when he finally felt completely at ease with the audience he was entertaining, the time when he got his down-home style down pat. And this success couldn't have happened at a better time, as YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF... also boasts what is arguably the funniest set he ever performed. Granted, he may have performed a good amount of this material before, like his infamous Redneck jokes, single life, or his family, but the amazing thing about the album is that it sounds like this is the first time Foxworthy is presenting this. Never has his material sounded so fresh, so loose, and so funny- and he never sounds derogatory towards the subjects he's talking about (especially his family and Southern life).

Of course, if there is one problem with Foxworthy's down-home style, it's that it can only appeal to those fans who love it; it may initially sound appealing if you're curious about this brand of humor, but if you find yourself hating the style, you probably won't reconsider your train of thought. If you find yourself enjoying Foxworthy, however, then you cannot go without YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF... in your collection; not only is it his best set, but it's one of the best comedy albums of the 1990s. ... If you haven't yet fallen victim to Oklahoma's favorite ass-whuppin' shock jock, go ahead and let Roy D. Mercer beat you like cornbread batter this time around. Album volume 7 is a great place to start, since it compiles some of Brent Douglas and Phil Stone's funniest sketches of outrageous kvetches. The accusations hurled in these prank calls--a homespun alternative to the obscenities of The Jerky Boys--are classic Roy D., terrorizing a range of unsuspecting folk, from a cemetery custodian, bank clerk, and bowling alley owner to a shoe salesman (ordered to pay the psychiatric bills occasioned by selling girls' shoes to little "Joey Mercer"). With minimal sound effects (including some impressively realistic borborygmi suffered from eating "bad apples"), ol' Roy pursues his victims like Ahab after Moby. The only letdowns are in the anticlimactic candid-camera moments explaining how the callees (surprisingly few of whom have managed to cut Roy off entirely by then) have been set up by their friends. After which, you can be sure, the traitors are going to face some intense ass-whuppin' of their own. Not recommended for those recovering from surgery: there's too high a risk for popping your stitches. --Tom May ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Laugh yourself silly
R.D. Mercer is the master of the hick southern accent. His expressions are priceless, his story lines so ridiculous, but hilarious, and the reactions of some of the poor dupes he calls are great! Personal favorites are Charmer, Graveyard, and Saddle Shoes. You have to listen to understand how silly prank phone calls could be so funny.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Humor
Glad I bought this one instead of CD's 1 thru 6, because this had all of the best bits on it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Roy D. Rocks!
When I first bought this CD, I put it in the player and immediately started laughing. My favorite, and my mom's favorite, is the diarrhea skit.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a Husband pleaser!
I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he just loved it! He then turned around and had me oder two more for our grown sons and they loved it also.

Listening to this riding down the highway, it's hard to concentrate on your driving! It could be hazardous from all the laughing!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best CD ever
We received a R D Mercer cd for x-mas and have not stopped playing it since. It is the best thing sense cornbread batter. We laugh every time no matter how many times we have heard it. The problem is we can't find anymore than the last one they made I believe. We are from Nebraska and no one has heard of it here. Please tell me where on earth we can get them. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "Heeeeeeer's your sign!" A Great Comedy Album
I was very surprised with this CD. Bill Engvall's "Here's Your Sign" proves to be a very funny and honest comedy album. I really had never heard any of his material before purchasing this album, but I decided to give it a shot. Bill Engvall is a very talented and funny comedian.

The material is everyday occurances, which makes it more funnier. He talks about family life, golf, snakes, and stupid people. His funniest track is "here's your sign," in where he talks about how stupid people should have signs on their heads.

Stupid Guy: "Hey, did ya catch all them fish."
Bill: (Pauses) "Nope. Talked them into surrendering. Heeeeeer's your sign."

My other favorite tracks are "going to the fair," "I.G. Joe," "nobody disciplines their kids anymore," and "things have changed." Bill Engvall is pretty much clean, althought his material might get just the slightest big adult oriented at times, but nothing that will shock or disgust you. He reminds me of Jeff Foxworthy a little, except I think I like Bill just a little bit more.

This whole CD is funny, and I'm glad I bought it. Bill Engvall is a very funny guy, and I look forward into buying his other albums. "Here's Your Sign" is a very funny album that is worth purchasing.

5-0 out of 5 stars A friend introduced me to Bill Engvall's cd
One of my high school friends lent me this cd to listen to one night on dorm restriction to waste time. I've never laughed so hard! I went out and bought my own copy, and now we own Here's your sign, Dork Fish and Here's your Sign Christmas cd. Everyone should listen to these, he is great!

4-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, Four-and-a-half, PG-13
One-half star off for language.

In our family, comedy CD's are a passion and this is one of our favorites. It's appeal is apparently universal.

One of Engvall's greatest talents is his ability to create so many different voices which transport you to the skit. He does several southerners, west coasters, kids and women. You'll find yourself imitating his jokes and his style in dialect.

Finding clean comedy is a quest and Here's Your Sign is only a slight disappointment. The harshest language here is "hell" and "damn" and those usages are mostly in keeping with the thrust of the given routine. They easily pass un-noticed.

Somewhat more problematic is the adult humor which, while inoffensive in adult company, might not be appropriate to younger folks. These cases are few (4 or so). Examples are "giving mommy a pile driver", "do not insert in any orifice", "the dogs watch us (making love)" and a couple lengthier routines about sex. Nothing raunchy, just don't want to listen to it with my kids, or my parents, for that matter. The skip and fast forward buttons resolved this for us, but if an edited version were released, I would buy it. And I would give it 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hilarious...My family listens to it everytime we travel
If you like comedy where stupid people get made fun of.....YOU WILL LOVE THIS CD! Here's your sign is a classic, and will never die! Perfect for listening to in the car on trips. No matter who i tell some of the stories to they all laugh! You WILL NOT regret buying this cd!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hysterical!

1-0 out of 5 stars HE SHOULD BE ASHAMED!
This guy use to play in a band with the late, great Gram Parsons!!??!

5-0 out of 5 stars the other novelty artist
Jim Stafford, at times, has a voice similar to that of Hoyt Axton and Jerry Reed. Stafford, more than any of the other novelty/comedy acts, was more quirky than funny. the humor on this CD comes from his home-spun delivery and the only laugh-out-loud song for me is "You Can Call Me Clyde", with it's Roger Miller-type lyric "yeah, i'm standin' here naked with my clothes on and you can call me clyde"; while the others are quietly funny. his big hits, or the ones he's known for, are the first 3 and track 5. while Stafford never gets dead serious, there are three songs on here {7, 8, and 10} that would resemble serious/non-novelty performances. "Turn Loose of My Leg", track 4, is about a wild girl and the dignified and well-mannered guy who reminds her "i'm not that kind of man", which is hilarious because usually it's the WOMAN who uses a similar over-used line like that. "Wildwood Weed" was a Top-10 pop hit...the CD kicks off with my favorite, "Spiders and Snakes", sold a million copies for Stafford and it hit the pop Top-10 in '74. Stafford's commercial success was in 1974-1975 and then nothing charted for him until 1981 with "Cow Patti" {track 5} and then two more singles hit the country charts but by that time he didn't really need a singing career because he was well known on TV on several country music shows plus being a host on an animal program in 1980-1981...he later opened up his own theatre. This CD introduces everyone to Jim Stafford's comedy {with 3 serious songs thrown in} and you can judge for yourself if he's your kind of performer.

5-0 out of 5 stars My thoughts
I have searched everywhere for this CD and no one knew anything about this artist, I wish he had more music out there cause I would buy them all. I hope you enjoy him as much as my family has (past & present).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Music, good Laughs

5-0 out of 5 stars I want to here more!!
This is his best album. If you liked the others (Here's your sign and Now that's awsome) you'll love this one. I've noticed that even people that have a hard time liking someone as mainstream as Seinfeldt rolls around in laughter over this guy. The only downside is that it only last for an hour. I Want to here more!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bill Engvall is the best!
I love "Here's Your Sign". When he tells about his kids it is hilarious. Deer Hunting with his wife is funny. The weather and factory outlet malls are funny. "I'm A Cowboy" is a great song.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the definition of comedy
"It seems to me that the only people ever surprised about the weater are the people who report it on TV." "So we went to Hanks parachuting school: we were in college and broke"

This is the reason for life.

5-0 out of 5 stars This guy is FUNNY!
All I ever heard from Bill was his "I am A Cowboy" on our local radio station, I didn't know he does stand up comedy until I bought his CD Dorkfish. His parachute-jumping episode had me in hysterics. It is all good clean fun, not just redneck humor, either. Buy this CD and be prepared to laugh!

Bill Engvall, perhaps one of the funniest comedians on the planet, has done it again with Cheap Drunk. This album is clean, just like all of his other ones. 1-0 out of 5 stars great material extremely bad sound quality
I own more than 300 comedy cds. I am a Jeff Foxworthy fan. This is unfortunately the worst sounding comedy cd I have ever bought (ever worse that Rock's Bigger and Blacker). The sound level goes up and down so at some point you think you are listening to a golf game description and then think you are listening to someone using a megaphone at a protest rally. This happens track after track and deters from enjoying this cd. What I don't understand is if I can fix the problem with a little freeware program I found that copies the tracks and normalizes the sound, why can't the producer or warner brothers do it? And, believe it or not, the cd SKIPS!!! I suggest you either contact the producer of the cd or Warner Bros. and ask them when the correctly produced version of this cd will be re-released and buy it only then.

5-0 out of 5 stars The down-home comedian's swan song may be his best work yet.
The down-home comedian's swan song may be his best work yet, although without the trademark "redneck" shtick.

Jeff Foxworthy has been releasing albums since the immensely popular "You Might Be a Redneck If..." in 1991. This album, his fifth album of new material, may be his last according to the acknowledging liner notes. That hasn't stopped the comedian from churning out some great material.

For instance, everybody knows about the Cialis ad from the Super Bowl, but only Foxworthy would comment that if he were in the hospital, he would make sure to wear the robe backwards and walk around.

Larry the Cable Guy makes a few unnecessary cameos in the CD during the introduction and encore, but he seems to enhance the CD this time. He doesn't just yell "Git 'er done!" every two seconds, either.

The only qualm about this is that some of the material can be seen on "Blue Collar Comedy Tour", but all the repeated bits are absent from the soundtrack. All the audio is new for those whom do not prefer movies.

Rating: 4.5/5

Rodney Carrington likes keepin' it rude, lewd, and crude. The raunchy Texan comedian's inner horny adolescent rages on and on in these fast-talkin' routines. This guy is fixated on sex and is particularly fond of talking about the male member. Carrington also manages to find time to humorously tell us just how he feels about marriage and kids, going to church, and shopping for caskets. There's plenty of shoutin' and an undercurrent of stylized irritation in these live performances recorded at clubs in Texas, North Carolina, and Indiana. A number of tracks feature Carrington strumming an acoustic guitar and singing songs that poke fun at, among other things, Latin lovers, grandpa, and The Artist Formerly known as Prince. The tune that best sums up Rodney's shtick is "Letter to My Penis," which appears on the album not once, but twice. Rodney and his Thing have their differences, but in the end, they work everything out. --Fred Cisterna ... Read more

Heard this CD for the first time a few weeks ago while visiting friends in TN. I never laughed so hard! Went right out and bought it. Had some friends listen to it and they were in tears from laughing so hard ... didn't take long for them to go get the CD as well. Just wish he'd come to Connecticut and do a show!

4-0 out of 5 stars I love Rodney Carriongton!
Well, the first Rodney CD I heard was Morning Wood, but this one is just as good. His stand up is better than the songs, although they are funny, too. If you like George Carlin, or Jeff Foxworhty, you'll LOVE Rodney. I don't really like Jeff Foxworthy, but anyone who does will love this CD and all of Rodney's.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you don't laugh at this you're crazy!
Rodney busts onto the scene with this cd with side-splitting, in-your-face comedy. He holds nothing back as he jokes about everything from jogging to his grandparents. His songs are hilarious and he really gets the crowd howling with his "alternate personality" Carlos. This album is a must have for anyone who is looking for a good "make your sides sore" laugh.

5-0 out of 5 stars Had to see him live after this!
I am from california where rednecks are not real common. But being stationed at a military installation in Texas you get exposed to different things and Rodney was one of them. The first time I listened to this C.D. I was in bed at the Barracks and started laughing so hard the guys who were trying to sleep were about to start beating me. Rodney is not for anyone who is religious, easily offended, or for that matter normal. ( he will even tell you that ). But if you want to do nothing but laugh until you are about to die. This is the C.D. of choice. He is even better live. And his new C.D. Nut sacks is due out in a few month's.

5-0 out of 5 stars so damn funny!
this cd is absolutely hilarious and a definate must for ANYONE from central texas! it's just great; nobody could make it through it without crying from laughing. I highly recommend it! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars kind of a disapointment
Rodney Carrington is awesome, but on Nut Sack he goes for songs. Only the first 5 tracks are stand up comedy. The rest of the CD is songs. So if you are after stand up comedy I would recommend one Rodney's previous albums like Morning Wood, which is great.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but his last CD was better
I think that Rodney wants to be a singer. He dose sing extremely well, but I like him best for his stand up. I would like his albums to be 80% standup, 20% songs. This album is about 50/50. This disc has some funny material, but the live stand up is too short.

5-0 out of 5 stars He's making fun of me
If you can enjoy sitting back and laughing your but off then 5 min later realize that he was making fun of you the whole time, then this CD is for you. Rodney is the funniest redneck there is.

4-0 out of 5 stars Rodney is a Nut case lol hes the Man
If you like to laugh and like humorous fun then he be the thing for you he makes me laugh so hard that it looks like im crying the standup comedy on this cd was awesome but wished it was longer but had several songs that was ok thats why i gave it a 4 star review cause i wanted more comedy lol but overall he is funny as any other comedian but beware if you haven't heard him he likes talking dirty and speakes his mind which i like about him so go out and get it you will enjoy and laugh just as much as i did.

3-0 out of 5 stars Wow, I thought I bought a comedy album
Alright, I have read everyone else's review and one thing is gonna be the same about mine. The stand up is very, very funny, but I thought I bought a comedy album not a music CD. The songs that I heard were not funny, on his other albums at least he does funny songs. I think he is confused about whether he wants to have a singing career or a comedy career.... but I hope he makes his mind up. Just for the record I would NOT buy a Rodney Carrington music CD. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT SINGER AND SONG WRITER
This kind of music brings back the good days when I was alot younger and life was a whole lot more fun. I recommend everyone should hear his music and enjoy the good clean music we use to have that still made you laugh and have fun.

2-0 out of 5 stars Everyone is entitled to an opinion. IMHO, NOT his best!
What we have here is essentially a re-release of MOST of Jim Stafford's first album on MGM (Wildwood Weed is shamefully missing here, as is, unfortunately, "My Girl Bill" and, thankfully, Stafford's HORRIBLE version of Mr. Bojangles). Included are the single-only "Undecided" and "Your Bulldog Drinks Champagne," which was a hit a couple years later.

This is a good intro to Stafford but the guy was putting out funny stuff well into the '80s. There needs to be a definitive collection. This ain't it.

3-0 out of 5 stars What A Deplorable Practice
To put out a "best of" compilation which does not deliver the goods is a deplorable practice all too often evident in today's market. I don't blame the reviewer who feels "gyped." So do I, although I wouldn't go quite so far as to award just one star.

The thing is, it starts off pretty good as the first four tracks represent the A- and B-sides of his first two hits. In June 1973 Swamp Witch made the Top 40, settling in at # 39 b/w Nifty Fifty Blues, while in December, Spiders And Snakes peaked at # 3 pop/# 66 Country b/w Undecided.

But then it completely skips over My Girl Bill, which hit # 12 pop/# 64 Country in June 1974, and at track 5 offers us The Last Chant, which was the UNCHARTED flipside of Wildwood Weed [# 7 pop/# 57 Country in August 1974.

Both sides of his next hit are, however, at tracks 6 and 7: Your Bulldog Drinks Champagne [# 24 pop in January 1975] b/w A Real Good Time. Alas, tracks 8 and 9 were neither hits nor B-sides of hits for Jim. So why are they here?

Three of his other seven MGM hit singles are in the Greatest Hits CD advertised by Amazon: My Girl Bill, Wildwood Weed, and Turn Loose My Leg [which hit # 98 in February 1977].

Not to be found anywhere are: I Got Stoned And I Missed It [# 37 pop in September 1975]; Jasper [# 69 pop in April 1976]; Cow Patti [# 65 Country in January 1981 on the Viva/Warner label]; What Mama Don't Know [# 61 Country in December 1982 for the Town House label], and Little Bits And Pieces [# 67 Country in March 1984 for Columbia].

It's time Collectables or Rhino took a hand and gave us a proper anthology of his hits.

In the meantime, for the price asked, this is at least a 3-star CD.

1-0 out of 5 stars Feeling Gyped!
I bought this CD on Jim Staffords reputation. Now, I'm feeling totally gyped! Only "Spiders and Snakes" is worthy of critique. It's a really good piece of writing. All the rest [are really bad].

5-0 out of 5 stars JIm's The Man!!
Jim Stafford's the greatest - I've loved his work since "Spiders & Snakes"! Very cleverly done CD - LOTS of humor peppered with some very keen insights - and it doesn't hurt that his voice is so perfect for his style of music. If I need to feel good, laugh out loud while I'm driving to work down the Interstate, and sing along with every song, I choose Jim!! ... Read more

Carrington's got an ugly, agitated view of the world. That's the exact reason why some people like the comic and others don't. In the CD's opening minutes the comedian proudly indulges in some nasty ethnic caricature, but before long he settles into the raunchy redneck sex routines he's best known for. At times, Carrington's all-consuming horniness sounds more like a nagging Pavlovian itch than adult sexual yearning. The central figure in Rodney's world continues to be the male member and references to his favorite organ abound on Morning Wood. About half of the disc is taken up with the comic performing dirty ditties. The title track works the same turf as "Letter to My Penis," a song from Carrington's 1998 album, Hangin' with Rodney. This guy definitely has an obsession and he wants to share it with the world. --Fred Cisterna ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Rodney Keeps The Comedy Flowing Hubba Hubba Hey!
The cover should tell you something about Rodney, and his comedy. Heck, it explains the title of the CD fully. Rodney is standing on the porch holding a mug, while a carefully aimed chain saw attempts to cover his morning wood.

This CD is a mixture of comedic skits, and songs that make me giggle insanely. Rodney shows he has ZERO shame, and loves to walk onto the end of the plank of comedy. This is not good clean family fun. This is good humor from a man who sounds much like a cross between Richard Pryor and Jeff Foxworthy.

If you are offended by vulgarity I'd say steer clear. But, if Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Dolemite don't turn you off, this shouldn't. If you are into raunchy comedy than this is the CD for you. If you are easily offended this isn't the comedy CD for you.

Rodney Carrington is a funny dirty version of the popular Jeff Foxworthy. You might be a redneck if you like Rodney Carrington, or you could just be someone who likes their humor served in a filthy plate at a truck stop. I am the latter. Worthy of listen, and a purchase of course. Standout Tracks are (Rodney's Wife & Kids, Marriage, Vacations) where Rodney discusses the perils we all face during marriage, and FAMILY vacation. Also a A (Dozen Roses) in which Rodney sings about what women want from a man. Hilarity ensues!

Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Insight into the male psyche as only a Texan can tell
Rodney goes all-out from the first line of the first track. This is definitely not a CD for the conservative, but is a hysterical trip inside the mind of the average Joe. Ladies will find what men are really thinking. Men finally have a poster-boy to rally around. Be careful listening to this CD in the car! My wife and I were laughing so hard, I almost ran off the road. Great for a bachelor party or weekly poker night.

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny Stuff
This CD has to be one of the funniest CD's in my collection. It is filled with non-stop laughs from begining to end. If you are thinking about buying this CD have no doubts that it will be one of the funniest CD's you'll ever hear.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yeeh haw!
Now this is why America is the best country in the world. We get to hear about life from every perspective. And if you ever wondered what it's like for "rednecks" and were afraid to ask, look no further. Carrington is hysterical and can sing too! Check it out!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very funny, but not Clower's best
More Good 'Uns is indeed full of plenty of good 'uns, but you won't find anything of Greatest Hits quality here. This is not to say the album isn't funny because it most certainly is. The Maddest Man I Ever Saw gets the album off to a great start and You're On My List leaves 'em laughing at the end. In between, there are several hunting stories, including one about good old Hi-ball, the best coon huntin' dog to ever live; according to Jerry, Hi-ball was so smart that he wouldn't even bark when he wandered on to someone else's land chasing a coon. One thing that distinguishes this recording from other Jerry Clower albums is the inclusion of several stories about New-gene Ledbetter, known for his meanness and propensity to lie all the time. At one point, Jerry expounds upon the fact that Southerners are just born funny, giving two examples of how something deadly serious is innocently transformed into comedy by Southerners. Oddly, a few of these stories wander outside the confines of Jerry's normal fare and come across as slightly odd; Computer Pilot is an excellent example of this. Once or twice, the story seems to end abruptly, leaving you waiting for a zinger of a punch line that never comes. In the end, though, this is Jerry Clower telling stories, and Jerry Clower telling stories guarantees the listener wholesome, incredibly funny country humor sure to bring a smile to the lips of even the most incorrigible of party poopers. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The comic that poseur Foxworthy would like to be
I'm a redneck.

So sue me.

But Tim Wilson is _our_ funny guy, who doesn't have to joke about dogs under the porch or recycle the same "You might be..." stuff that ain't funny the first time around and doesn't improve a'tall with age. Instead he gives us the lying uncle from _his_ family who's a whole like the one we grew up with, the brother-in-law from hell we put up with at Thanksgiving (who sometimes doesn't go away till after Xmas).

Tim Wilson is brilliant and pokes fun at anything that strikes him as funny, and makes jokes about things I never thought I'd hear a comedian talk about. Who else has a story about that lying uncle and Rosa Parks?

Only reason I gave this album four stars rather than five is some {guy} has censored it, bleeping words I've known since I was five or six years old (and I'm not talking about the big "F" one).

Buy it anyway, listen to "Chucky Cheese Hell" and remember the last time you ate really bad pizza while the kids went through thirty bucks in quarters.

If you don't laugh out loud, you might be a Jeff Foxworthy fan. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good, clean country humor
Jerry Clower is the funniest man to ever live, in my opinion, and I really regret the fact that he passed away just a couple of months before I actually had the chance to see him live back in 1998. As a proud Southerner myself, I love his thoroughly Southern humor; the man was country, and he was proud of it. He was also a deeply religious man who expressed his beliefs in a poignant yet quiet way, usually ending his albums with some words of advice on how to be a better person. Clower Power, released in 1973, was Jerry Clower's third album. Clower was at his best when telling longer stories such as Knock 'Em Out, John or Marcel's Talking Chain Saw, but there are some real gems among the twenty short, hilarious stories on this album. Of particular interest is How to Back Into Show Business, in which he describes his transformation from fertilizer peddler to famous country comedian. There are plenty of stories about growing up in rural Mississippi and vignettes of the unforgettable Ledbetter family, particularly Uncle Versey, Marcel (of chain saw fame), and Clovis (who wanted to be a log truck instead of a little boy). Jerry Clower was just naturally funny; he could have read the obituaries and had a multitude of otherwise serious men and women rolling in the aisles with laughter. He is the epitome of family entertainment and the perfect instructor on the art of enjoying life to its fullest no matter what your situation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Some very funny stuff (and some filler)
I agree with the reviewer who says that this is not as funny as "Greatest Hits." That said, however, there is some very funny stuff here that is NOT on "Greatest Hits." Buy this one at the bargain basement price and transfer the gems to your own "greatest hits" tape or CD. The sound quality on "Clower Power" is fine and some of the material is absolutely hilarious.

2-0 out of 5 stars Get what you pay for
This cd is not as funny as his other ones. I recommend "Greatest Hits" with many of his more famous stories about marcel ledbetter, coon hunting, etc.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jerry =Funny
This was Jerry's best ever. I could not stop laughing through out the album. His "backwoods" tales remind me of my grandfather's stories of the rural south. I highly recommend this work! ... Read more
