Selena's last gift to her fans is the best ever!
Selena's last concert at the Houston Astrodome is awesome! The cd is great and video as well! I remember being an extra in the Selena movie when the Houston Astrodome scene was filmed here in San Antonio, in our Alamodome, so it holds a special memory in my heart for me. I was there from 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM and I didn't realize the magnitude of what the Selena movie what come to accomplish. How so? I told everybody at school the next day i was an extra in the Selena movie, and they thought it was no big deal. Selena's last concert is a perfect 5 stars. The music is great as always and the Disco medley gave us a taste of what would have come from Sel. I have been a fan of Selena's since when my Dad and me first bought "Entre a Mi Mundo." I almost had the chance to see her at Market Square too when we were staying at SAMM shelter. If Selena were alive today she would be up there with the great latin singer, Shakira, and so many others bringing Latin music to front of mainstream America. Selena's last gift, "Selena's Last concert," is an everlasting and timeless gem that will always bring us closer to our reina de la muscia Tejana! AN EXTROADINARY, INCREDIBLE ALBUM...
At long last, after waiting for so long, Selena's most famous concert is finally on CD!!! It all occurred in front of 64,000 people on February 26, 1995 @ The Houston Astrodome. Obviously, her talent was immense. No other artist that Ive seen can sing and dance so naturally to Disco, Pop, R&B and Tejano all in one 1 hour long concert. She was simply extroadinary.

Its so hard to review this CD, becuase every single track is so energetic and wonderful. First, there is the now famous Disco Medley. But the live "Amor Prohibido" is so vibrant to listen to, as is Tus Desprecios" and "Si Una Vez". We also get her heart-breaking performance of "Como La Flor" before she exited the Astrodome for the last time. Again, its hard to point out tracks, becuase they are all so wonderful.

I can't say enough how great this album is, its simply the best of the best. I can't wait for the DVD of the concert to come out, soon.

This CD makes my heart go a-Bidi Bidi Bom Bom!
Selena is my favorite performer of ALL-TIME for good reason: She rocks! I'm Asian-American but her music still speaks to me, and I learned Spanish because of her. My Hispanic friends let me know who Selena was before her death, but I really got hooked, line and sinker, after I heard about her tragic death on March 31, 1995. Selena also first inspired me to sing, and since I've flourished musically, and I hope to dedicate my first album to her someday! SELENA LIVE: THE LAST CONCERT is a superb and thrilling tribute to one of the world's most promising stars. She was that good...she was IT! Singing LIVE she shines like Venus in the sky; where most lose (especially during LIVE performances when most of the singing is done poorly or is lipsync-d) Selena succeeds tremendously! I miss her immensely - no other performer, ever, can top this charismatic beauty! Really! Vive Selena Quintanilla-Perez!

I cant belive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The reason my review is called ''I cant belive it!!!''' is because I thought that Selena's spanish songs wouldn't be good. What I mean is I don't know a word of spanish and any song that I don't understand I kinda know I wont like the songs but Selena's songs WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The songs have a good beat everything!!!!! That's why I'm this album 5 stars. And today I wanted ''Selena - Greatest hits'' but I changed my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO getting this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This album was absolutely incredible. I became a Selena fan a few years ago when I began studying Spanish, and when I picked up this album I fell even more in love with her music. Not only does it include the great hits that she was made famous for in the Tejano world, the album also gives the feeling of the energy she put into her lives shows. Pepe Aguilar Rules
From the first time I saw the movie El Hijo De Lamberto Quintero to now I've been a Pepe Aguilar fan. It was the song Esta Tristesa Mia which hit the heart profoundly. If you haven't heard this song, it is in one of his albums con Tambora. This CD along with the rest that he has con Mariachi are simply masterpieces and cannot be duplicated. Pepe directs and produces most of his albums, and not even Alejandro Fernandez can do that, nor can he sing con Tambora. I really recommend any of his albums, simply because he is one of the best out there today.

I agree that this CD is wonderful for a person with such a melodic and sweet voice Pepe Aguilar does a wonderful job singing rancheras. BUT in no way is he beter than Vicente Fernandez, the man is THE charro alegre de mexico he has a strong and raspy voice made to sing ONLY rancheras he's a national treasure and can't be surpassed. Oh and by the way, this CD is wonderful, one of my favorites hope this helped you in your selectoin ;)

Pepe Aguilar did it again another great cd a favorite in my list. he proved again that he's better than Vicente & Alejandro Fernandez. a better everything Pepe is the total package a great vocalist director producer and a real charro like his father the great Antonio Aguilar the songs in this cd are very good sung the way only Pepe can.nobody even comes close to his style.I especially liked the song titled "El Zacatecano" because it mentiones Jerez the city were my parents were born i cant wait for his next cd wich wil be a hit too.

Recomendado; si gustan de baladas rancheras...
Esta vez Pepe se paso con las baladas, pero ay que reconocer que son baladas muy hermosas...y con letras llenas de sentido... aunque para mi gusto "por mujeres como tu" supera a este ultimo CD...

Eso si los arreglos musicales de "por una mujer bonita" son muy autenticos eh inovadores... no cabe duda que Pepe esta buscando un estilo propio y bien definido...

a GREAT cd!
This one is Jay's best so far!All the songs are good, so you won't have to skip all over to find a good song.He has the best voice in Tejano music and this cd proves that!I love #'s 2, 3, 5...well, all ofthem!--but # 10 is my fav.I think everybody should go get this CD!

The best album yet
I must agree with manuel here Jay perez has shown that he's the best. This new album contains great songs like " No querio estar solo"and "Always and Forever"

Once again a strong showing by "The Voice"
Being a Jay Perez Fan since the "Latin Breed" days, I might be a little biased when it comes to this review....deal with it! It took the "Ritmo Latino" cd store in San Diego 10 days to aquire the cdsince the release on the 25th of May. Once you hear the first song, youknow that Jay is experimenting with a new format on his cd....he usuallystarts out with a Very Strong Tejano Jam like "Dame tu Corazon"on the "Toda Mi Vida" CD...This time around he opens the cd witha conjunto flavored hit..."Fuiste Muy Mala"...about half of thesongs are tejano flavored while the other half clearly showcase Jay'sversatility when it comes to his voice and feel for songs....and evenremakes the classic slow jam "Always and Forever" and makes itall his own. Twelve cuts on the cd and a strong showing for the"People's Champion of Tejano Music". Jay sings of love, lost loveand more love so if you listen to the words of each song, you willdefinitely find a song that fits in with your love life. All in all a verygood cd, danceable and fun to listen to.On a more personal note, I havepurchased each and every cd that he has put out and I have yet to bedisappointed.....the only time was at the Tejano Music Awards when he wasclearly going to win for "The Voice" cd and lost outright due topolitics and bs....and the only other disappointment I have is that herarely ever tours outside of Texas....ALOT of people love the tejano soundand would like to hear and see him on tour...so Jay, if you are readingthis, always remember that you do have fans outside of Texas that love yourMusic and would love it even more if you would tour outside of Texas. I LOVE YOU JAY PEREZ
I LOVE JAY PEREZ, HIS SONG "TODO LO QUE YO TENGO" WAS THE SONG THAT STARTED MY WHOLE FASCINATION WITH JAY PEREZ. I FELL IN LOVE WITH HIS VOICE AND HAVE REMAINED A LOYAL FAN SINCE THIS ALBULM CAME OUT. I LOVE THE WAY THIS MAN CAN POUR HIS SOUL OUT WHILE SINGING A SONG, I CAN FEEL WHAT HE MEANS, AND HE WILL FOREVER BE MY #1 MALE SINGER. I THINK THE TTMA'S FINALLY GAVE HIM THE CREDIT THAT HE WAS DUE BY WINNING MALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR. JAY PEREZ IS NOT ONLY THE VOZ, BUT HE IS THE KING IN MY HEART, I LOVE YOU JAY PEREZ!!!!!!!!!!!

The Title Says It All......
Whew, this review is a little emotional for me. This CD came out when I was going through a horrendous divorce from my first wife. The First track would literally put me in tears..."Porque todo lo que yo tengo....." Jay talks about how the girl is all he has in one song, then in the next song he talks about finding a new woman. Then in another song he talks about how he doesn't love her anymore....all what I was going through. His music inspires me, and was the shoulder I needed when I was at my lowest. Jay is by far what I would consider the best voice in Tejano music. His style has no comparison,he is in a class and a league by himself. And FINALLY, the TTMA's give him the recognition he deserves by winning the best male vocalist award. This cd is worth getting.

Javier the best
I have been listening to Javier Solis since I was a little girl back home in Belize in Central America. Javier Solis takes you into another world where music is music and you feel all warm and you love life at that specific moment that he is singing. The music by the mariachis is just overwhelming and you want to listen to it over and over. I just love TU VOZ and i can't see it on the internet. I think it must be on his first album. I wish the world would listen to this music as it is brilliant!...

King of the Mexican Bolero
The voice of Javier Solis may never come again but thank God it was captured and now released on CD. Along with Jose Alfredo Jiminez, amd Pedro Infante these guys are considered icons from a bygone era. Tragically he died young but his music lives on. If you're in the mood for some Mexican romantic music, or boleros, this is the one to put on. The arrangemants are superb, with full Mariachi that will fill your room and transport you to Mexico. "Payaso" and "En Mi Vijo San Juan" are two of my favorites. You might want to put this CD in the carousel with others to listen to as too many boleros can be hard to take. The beauty is in his rich tenor that melts hearts and makes even skeptics a little romantic. His voice is lush, strong yet at times whispering soft, but always good. If you want to experience some classic Mexican boleros this guy is the king of romantic music. The good thing is that his voice or lyrics never offend so it is not sappy or syrupy, just a beautiful voice singing from the depths of his soul for your heart. ... Read more

A best of - must have for your collection!
So a little birdie told you about Javier Solis, ay? If you could have only one album from this great voice it should be this one. It is perfect for beginners. I say beginners because once you've been bitten you'll be smitten. Now this is a REAL voice. The Great Javier Solis' deep voice will have you ladies melting. Men, you will think you are best friends. He is one of the few artistic interpreters (vocalists) who can make you believe that what he is saying is very real, much like Elvis. He is at once gentle and powerfully strong. (You know, the perfect man.) Yes, all in one voice. The gently passionate bolero "Amaneci en tus Brazos" has been rerecorded more than a few times and even the original pales by comparison to Javier's. There is not a more perfect stage for the tragedy and drama of love's pain than in the Mexican ranchera. Refer to "Sombras" or "Entrega Total" my favorite, the title alone says it all, total submission (of course it doesn't have the extra negative connotations in Spanish as it does in English.) The poetry of this romantic era awakens your young heart. The orchestra and band are of a caliber unequaled in modern recordings. Javier's styling is a Spanish flare he had which separates him from today's Mexican singers and romanticizes him all the more. "Ojitos Traidores" or the dramatically exclaimed "Luz de Luna" are examples. Nothing more can be said than, if you can appreciate a beautiful masculine voice, get your hands on this. ... Read more

MEMORIES!!
This CD makes me think of falling in love as a teenager.
I gave this as a present to my fiance, who is a "white guy" and I know he'll enjoy it.The songs are just great...full of emotion...and universal in theme.Made me cry to listen to it after ten years!

Good to the last song!
I personally own this cd, but just listening now brings back warm memories. These were the songs I first fell in love to. I definately recomend this to EVERYONE. Even if you don't understand spanish, justsimply hearing the emotion in Oscar's voice is enough to set you free ofworries and lets you soar with the music. Although their music as a groupis coming to an end, the music will not end completely. And even more so ifyou have this memorabilia. I truly recomend this. You can hear the talent,that has come from experience and hardships, pouring out of this band . Isay, if you can, buy all the albums. You'll enjoy hearing the changesthey've made over the years. ... The Voice
From the onset, beginning with the Agustin Lara penned "Noche de Ronda" the incredible, velvety voiced Javier Solis sets the table for some smooth romantic music from a different era. This is a single disc with two LP's with the result being lots of music for your buck, with the possibilities of unforgetable romance. Javier Solis is quite possibly one of the finest bolero singers to have ever walked the planet; Solis had avoice for the ages that in spite of all the great contemporary Latin singers out there as yet to be matched. This is one persons humble opinion of course. The music itself is full of lush orchestration, playing backdrop to the voice of Solis as his amazing vocals carries you back in time, before my time and probably yours, to a nostalgic Mexico. There are plenty of well known classics here including the bohemian "Vagabundo, " the simply enchanting romantic "Cuando Vuelva a Tu Lado" that creates shivers as you listen to the Spanish lyrics, and the better-than -Luis Miguel version of "Perfidia" that laments a tortured soul, "Solamente Una Vez" with it's Nelson Riddle-like orchestration that plays softly while Solis croons away, "Siboney" where Solis demonsratates the fine range of his voice as he digs deep for a resounding bellowing interpretation while sweet Vera Cruz like marimbas echo softly in the background or the often recorded "Besame Mucho" which is reflective of the often somber, melancholy character that Solis seemed to portray. This is a great disc for old and new fans of timeless Mexican music. Different than some of his other LP's in that their are no rancheras, Solis seemed to be trying a more sophisticated International flavor with equally pleasing results. There are however some mariachi tinged songs like "Imposible" and a few others that are more like what many have come to associate with Javier Solis. Another in the "Serie 2 en 1" entitled "Interpreta a Agustin Lara and Prisionero del Mar" is highly recommended although completely different in style.Perfect music for romance hearts and a soulful retreat in time.

GREVER BAENA HEARD WITH THE BEST OF THE VOICES
This is cd is one of the best cd's I have from Javier Solis. It is one of the many that Sony released under 2 for 1. This one has Baena and Grever songs in both orchestra and Mariachi. In orchestra it includes Perfidia and Cuando Vuelva a tu Lado. this was boleros with orchestra before Luis Miguel. Another favorite is Grever's Te Quiero Dijiste. A classic must have!

Javier tambien con orquesta
Aun cuando no es muy conocida esta produccion, el CD incluye varios temas con acompañamiento de orquesta. Cabe anotar que existe otro album llamado "Javier Solis con Orquesta" el cual recoge otros temas como En esta tarde gris, El mundo, Buen viaje, etc. y del cual Sony no ha programado su grabación en CD. En este CD podran encontrar dos versiones, una con orquesta y otra con mariachi, del conocido tema Cuando vuelva a tu lado.
