Sexy heartthrob Enrique Iglesias returns with a slickly produced collection of rhythmic ballads ("Esperanza," "Cosas del Amor") and soft rocking sing-along tunes ("Desnudo," "Contigo"). Iglesias, who wrote six songs here, sounds more confident and in control than ever in this work produced by Rafael Perez-Botija. Ultimately, though, most of this stuff sounds like lightweight pop pap wrapped in lush arrangements, occasionally overly dramatic and consistently overproduced. The tunes go down nicely, but they're instantly forgotten once they're over. The only tunes into which Iglesias injects some notable fire are "Para de Jugar" and the R&B/funk-flavored "Dicen por Ahi." It hardly matters, however, to his main audience--mostly adoring female fans. Iglesias's matinee-idol looks and this sweet ear candy are all they need. --Ramiro Burr ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous music!
I decided to buy Enrique's Spanish albums after enjoying his English album so much. First of all, I have to say that his Spanish albums are very different from his English one, they contain mostly slow songs, but they're still AWESOME! Wow, listening to his Spanish stuff made me become an even bigger fan!

Cosas Del Amor is just breathtaking! If you love gorgeous ballads, then you should buy this album! Enrique's ballads are what fantasies are made of. I've never heard ballads filled with so much poetry and sung so emotionally. I don't know Spanish, but luckily I was able to find translations of the songs so I know what he's singing about. Even if I had no idea what he was saying, these songs would still touch my heart. But I have to say that becoming an Enrique fan has helped me learn some Spanish, so there's another benefit besides discovering great new music. These songs are so romantic and beautiful. "Nunca Te Olvidare" has only a piano and violins in the background; it's stunning, sad, and beautiful. "Cosas Del Amor" is also gorgeous. "Contigo" makes me think of a beautiful sunset when I listen to it. "Sirena" is so heart-wrenchingly beautiful and maybe my favorite song on the album (but it's hard to say that only 1 song is my favorite since so many of them are amazing). The songs I love the most are "Nunca Te Olvidare", "Cosas Del Amor", "Esperanza", "Contigo", "Sirena", and "Ruleta Rusa". "Ruleta Rusa", the last song on the album, surprised me because it's up-tempo like most of the stuff on his English album, but it still fits on Cosas Del Amor. It's a fun ending to the album.

If you became a fan of Enrique's because of his English album, then I suggest getting some of his Spanish music because it shows a different, but equally amazing, side of him. Like I said, most of his Spanish songs are slow, unlike his mostly up-tempo English CD, but Enrique shows that he is amazing at both fast songs and ballads.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enrique Iglesias- Cosas Del Amor (1998, E.I./Universal)
Enrique Iglesias made a third Spanish album before he was known to the American audiences a year afterward. This Spanish album turned out to be a masterpiece and Enrique's best Spanish album. I really love this talented man. The looks of a matinee-idol with suave looks, incredible voice and singing ability... Enrique Iglesias is the best male singer around today. Every song on this album is soothing, dreamy and it's the kind of music I like to hear every single day. Looking like Tony Montana (Scarface) on the front cover, Enrique is a man of his own style, unlike the irritating Ricky Martin and most new pop sensations around to date. My personal favorites include "Nunca Te Olvidare", "Ruleta Rusa", "Desnudo", "Contigo", especially "Alguien Como Tu" and even the rest of it is very remarkable. Most of the songs in his Spanish albums are slow, unlike his English albums. Enrique's talent is unorthodoxed and is the kind of talent that will linger into our lizard brain and will have us playing his music 7 years from now, even.

5-0 out of 5 stars The essence of Enrique
Enrique is the king of writing highly emotional songs and this cd proves it. almost all of the songs are very romantic like 'sirena', and 'contigo' and 'nunca te olvidare' although some are of heartbreak, they are so well written and sung. 'ruleta rusa' has a cool beat to it, different, spices up the cd a bit. and 'dicen por ahi' makes you feel soo bad for talking bad about someone. imagine if you talked bad about an ex beau and he found would you feel?? this is his best cd by far, there are soo many great songs and lyrics. It's what Enrique's music is all about...emociones puras y profundas.

5-0 out of 5 stars HIS BEST CD IN SPANISH.
When Enrique released his first cd back in 1995, I found it terrible, well actually the music and the lyrics were good but his voice back then was horrible. But in 1997 when his second one came out I found it better.
So in 1999 after listening to hits like "Esperanza" (Hope) and "Cosas del amor" (Love's things). I bought this tittle and I liked very much. The first song "Nunca te olvidare" (I'll never forget you) is a very good love song such as "Dice por ahi" (They say there around), "Contigo" (With you) or "Alguien como tu" (someone like you).
I also like Enrique's happier songs like "Para de jugar" (Stop playing) and one of my favorites, "Ruleta rusa" (I don't know how is the name of this game in English, I'm just gonna tell you how this game is. Is a round board with several colors and each one has an award or you can lose becuase you have to make it spin and when it stops you know if you lose or win something).
Returning to the cd, it's very good, I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love Him!
This is definitly his best album, I've been a fan of his since 1995 and every song on this album is great especially Sirena go get it! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars roberto carlos , a good singer I used to like...
Roberto carlos had pretty good songs and was very popular in south amercia but also used many songs that were hits before him by other artists, before his time or popular in argentina, and a lot of people thought they were his songs. he has quality and talent unfortunately, his image faded for me once I heard all the original songs he had used. songs like "detalles" ("sabras que te quiero" by los Galos) and other songs by Los Iracundos, and even umberto Tossi who at their time, were actually far more popular than roberto carlos.
Still he has also good songs on his own, and that has his own merit.

5-0 out of 5 stars Emotional
I first heard Roberto Carlos in Spain because my mom used to listen to his music. His music is like they say in spain, maravillosa y romantica que toca el corazon profundamente.

3-0 out of 5 stars Suave and Debonair
I first heard Roberto Carlos in the late 1980s when I was dating a fan of his from Monterrey. She sang his praises, but I was sceptical until we saw him in concert and I became a Roberto Carlos convert.
I never had any albums or CDs of his before, but did have a 120 minute cassette that her sister's boyfriend recorded for me. I listened to it fairly often over the years and recently decided to buy a CD since the tape was getting old. But where to start? He had unfortunately written down no song titles but I knew which ones I liked. So I settled on 30 Grandes Canciones to start.
OK, there are a lot of great songs here. Carlos has the right voice for romantic song and this CD is full of romance. But there are also a few dogs.
Let's start with my favorites. Most of them turned out to be songs I knew from the late 1980s and early 1990s. There are several of which I will never tire: Detalles, Si El Amor Se Va, and Amigo. Then there are those I like quite a bit: La Distancia, Que Sera de Ti, Cama y Mesa, Lady Laura, and El Gato Que Esta Triste Y Azul. Most of the rest I can take or leave. Carlos' voice is really at his best on those mentioned above.
A couple of stars are knocked off by the inclusion of a couple insipid numbers I detest. I never have liked Un Millon de Amigos or La Montana, but the crown for the cheesiest song on the album goes to Simbolo Sexual. The vocals and the arrangement are downright jejune!
Despite those few songs, I recommend 30 Grandes Canciones to anyone who would like a sampling of the work of a very suave and debonair Roberto Carlos.

5-0 out of 5 stars Because Roberto Carlos is the king?
This album is a true gift for the millions fans of Roberto Carlos around the world. Countain some of your classics songs and new hits, all in spanish. In Brazil, Roberto Carlos is called "The King", your voice and passion is a great influence for millions people around the world. This album show the why. You will undertand because the King sold 80 millions of records around the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars 30 grandes canciones
I followed Roberto Carlos for over 35 years of my life and until today I am still a fan. I've collected many of his songs in all formats. His voice is so beautiful in whichever language he sings. He gives everything into any song he sings. The writing and the meaning are very simple and to the point, yet strong and effective. He is an ageless singer who brought romance into everyone's life. His songs identified in all walks of life to all of us. To so many of us he is irreplaceable...I just love him so much! What a great artist and a legend! ... Read more

Your dear Honey Enrico-

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful
I loved this Cd by Enrique Iglesias. I was never a big fan of his until I heard this CD. The music was so beautiful. I didn't really know what the songs were about because I do not know much Spanish, but the songs moved me. Some of them were so beautiful I wanted to cry. This Cd is well worth the money of buying.

5-0 out of 5 stars An interesting choice
I was very wary of this Best Hits effort given the earlier Greatest Hits attempt. Bailamos:The Greatest Hits was a very disapointing album with a poor choice of songs to highlight Enrique's spanish language career. However this one seems a very a good attempt. With a good choice of songs. With the catchy songs like Vivire y Morrire and Ruleta Rusa being a standout. Perhaps the most amazing is rather than do for remixes and radio edits Nunca de Olividare and Cosas Del Amor make it onto the album untounched (unlike on the Greatest Hits in which Esperanza and Nunca de Olividare where massacred). Enrique' s cover of Only you makes it too. Albeit mixed language. My preference is the all spanish Solo En Ti but I'm glad they didn't fall for the trap of using the all english version of the song (again, like The Greatest Hits). Put this together withthe great songs from his first album the moving Si Tu Te vas and Experienca Religrosa which, for me provide a touch of genuine nostalgia as I remember them when they were new and also the more recent English efforts of Bailamos make this a great find for anyone. If I ever had doubts about Enrique they are all allayed when I listen to this Best Hits.

Can you dance one thousand nights and hold your baby, close all through the night, Can you reach his soul saying no words at all.Can you cry with no tears becuase your pain is to deep, can fly with broken wings, nothing but love goes this deep.

When you feel broken down, standing on shattering ground theres only one who can turn it all around. when your universe is gone can you say what you have done, can you face your fears, knowing you should've held on, you should have given your heart and soul, but now hes gone. The first time you shared his life, felt his pain, knew his laugh, knew his smlie, if you could go back would you change...

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest artistic achievments of all time!!
There are no words to describe the sheer brilliance of this record. The opener "ay,que pesado" showcases the band's mellow pop style perfectly as it features a fine display of Ana Torrojas beautiful voice and a sweet combination of bass, piano and guitar. The most famous song on this is "hijo de la luna" which is a haunting tune that would be a good background piece for a scary movie, as well this is a song used by figure skaters, it is one of the most deepest songs that you can imagine, and the lyrics are brilliant. My personal favrot song is "no tienes nada que perder" which features a beautiful chorus. "el cuerpo de esa chica" is used in commercials in mexico, and is a very catchy, danceable tune that parts remind me of the B52's, overall it is one of mecanos best. Also "angel","cruz de navajas" and "50 palabras..." are excellent. If you like Enya you will probably get into Mecano, if you like new age, I think you'd enjoy this also. This is without doubt one of the greatest pop records of all time!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest song ever made (hijo de la luna) is here
If you have listened Mecano music this is a CD that you must have. Only with Hijo de la Luna and cruz de Navajas this is a worth CD. Hijo de la Luna,(moon's son) a beatiful song about a legend of the moon, one of the greatest songs in Spanish ever made, Cruz de Navajas, a pretty song about an ordinary life in Spain, Me Cuesta tanto Olvidarte (It's so difficult to forget you), the summit of love. A great CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREATEST ALBUM EVER
Mecano was always a group I had heard coming from my parents, but I never took them that serious, considering I mainly listened to hiphop. On 1st listen, the melodies sounded very corny and ridiculous to me, but that changed in time.More than anything, the voice of vocalist Ana Torroja intrigued/soothed your mind to a point of great mystery. There was something about this album that just captivated you the more you listened to it. And though MECANO has broken up for several years now, and have put out many solid and great cds, this by far, is their best one. By the way, this is not the real album, since it lacks songs "Las Cosas Pares" and "Te Busque." Nevertheless, the album is a balanced depth that doesn't bore you with intended complexity. With each listen, the lyrics grow into relation into personal experiences.

1-ay que pesado-the hook is very catchy and the melody is very simple, which only enhances Ana's voice. The lyrics are incredible!
2-angel-the song sounds 2 mysterious at 1st listen, but the haunting vocals win u over, esp. with the incredible lyrics
3-hijo de la luna-one of the best songs on the album, it showcases outstanding storytelling ability, strong emotion and passion
4-50 palabras,60 palabras o 100-the melody is probably the simplest out of all the songs on the album, but is probably the deepest and most intriguing, due to awe-inspiring lyrics
5-me cuesta tanto olvidarte-probably the best song on the cd, which has been internationally recognized as 1 of the 100 greatest songs of all time, being expressed with such emotion that it can almost make you cry
6-no tienes nada que perder-the song is very difficult 2 interpret, but the chorus is incredible
7-las curvas de esa chica-this is probably the song I like the least, but is actually humorous and rhythmic to listen to
8-no es tan serio este cementerio-the lyrics are very chilling, but very deep, which go perfect with the vocals
9-cruz de navajas-this song is very insightful in2 relationships with its great storytelling and sensual rhythm.very good listen!
10-esta es la historia de un amor-very haunting and strange song. the lyrics are so simple that it's almost enigmatic. i still am trying to find what it's meaning is! but nevertheless, its a very good song

*I can say this cd has changed my life, given me insight.Perhaps that sounds subjective, but if you dont believe me, listen to it! I dont know if its safe to say that this album is 1 of the best ever (its up there though), but i can most definitely say its the greatest cd in spanish EVER! PERIOD.
If u dont speak or understand Spanish, id learn just to hear this cd. I dont have to lie, the proof is in the pudding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great great and great
Finally, after many years looking for this CD I found it .. great music, great song ... I love it

5-0 out of 5 stars You don't need to speak Spanish
A friend in Chile sent me this album. I was unprepared for and totally blown away by Ana Torroja's delicate vocals. Her voice is perfectly suited to the music. And the music is some of the very best I ever heard, from the haunting melody of Hijo de la Luna to the bouncy Las Cosas Pares to the woeful Me Cuesta Tanto Olvidarte. I don't speak Spanish, and my friend has translated only two of the songs for me, so I don't understand the lyrics beyond a few words and phrases, but you don't need to understand the words to love this album. Mecano has produced a work that transcends language! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Calling all latin music aficionados!
I first heard this CD while living in Spain in '93 and this CD has since never been far from the CD player. On this album Carlos Vives is pure genius. Paying homage to the great folk musicians of his homeland (Colombia), Carlos takes the traditional music that is the soul of his country and adds a modern flare. Close your eyes and you will feel the music on this album touch your soul. You cannot help but move to the rhythms of the bass and the upbeat sound of the accordian. If you understand Spanish, some of the lyrics will make you laugh. If not, the music will lift your spirits. Regardless, this album should be a part of your latin collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars You don't have to be Colombian to love this one!
Bought this CD as a present for hubby and we played it in the car driving through the Canadian Rockies and were just blown away.We had so much fun and listened to it over and over. The bighorn sheep even loved it. It sounds good everywhere and is just a masterpiece. Run to buy it and his last three as well, especially Fruta Fresca.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tropical at its best!
I heard La Gota Fria and got hooked to the melody and excitement in Carlos Vives's voice. So unique and lively!
You know he is having fun. This is a must have CD! I'll remember him in all my "parandas"!
Carlos - LIVES!

5-0 out of 5 stars Vallenato re-invented : the soul of Colombian people
About 25 years ago in Colombia, "vallenato" was the very special music of the Valledupar region at the foot of the big Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and his fame was more or less local. With this album Carlos Vives re-invented the vallenato and made it a popular music all over the country. Colombian people rediscovered a warm and nostalgic music that go straight to the heart of any body who hear it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Clasicos del rock latino
excelente recopilacion. yo le sacaria quien mato a marilyn y le pondria Latinoamerica es un pueblo al sur de Estados Unidos (del disco la voz de los 80)

5-0 out of 5 stars A lost treasure of the 80's!
Well, not really "lost", inasmuch as Los Prisioneros were the hugest rock band in Chile throughout the 80's. But if you're a humble gringo like me, they will come as a major revelation. The first time I heard this album, it was eerie-- I didn't know any of the songs, and yet they were so catchy and vibrant that I felt as though I was listening to classics that I knew by heart. Los Prisioneros started out their career as a ska/rock band, mirroring the sounds of 1979, but as the 80's progressed they moved towards an electro-pop sound. Throughout, their songwriting stayed potent, with lyrics ranging from clever criticism of sexual advertisements to tongue-in-cheek declarations of rock intent. ("Elvis, sacudete en tu cripta.") Best described as a glorious mixture of The Police, The Clash and Erasure, this is a greatest hits collection I cannot recommend highly enough. ¡Ya viene la fuerza, la voz de los ochenta!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD!
This is a excellent CD. It contains the best songs of this Chilean group ( "The prisioners" in english). If you understand spanish, good for you! if you dont, this CD may motivate you to get a good dictionary! :) The lirics , especially the ones of the old songs are full of social claims that came naturally to opressed teenagers living in a dictatorship!.The lyrics of their songs are not limited to the political aspect of living in repression but they include the social vision of censured people too. You need to get it !

5-0 out of 5 stars Lo mejor de chile!

5-0 out of 5 stars Chile's U2
This protest rock group is one of the greatest things to come out of Santiago during the dictatorship of Pinochet. Unfortunately once Pinochet stepped down, they had little else to sing about and went their separate ways. This album is a great example of South American rock. It's not all salsas, cumbias and cuecas south of the equator. They can rock right along with the North American rock groups! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great collection
All I have to say is that this is a great collection of Chicano cruisin' classics and kickin' it lovesongs. Man it really is a soundtrack to the Chicano lifestyle. A complete collection of the best. The best collection next to this is "Back to the barrio" - rare and hard to find Chicano classics vol. 1. this has many out of print and rare songs from back in the day. It has latin rock, latin funk, and latin soul. contact Chorizo Records

5-0 out of 5 stars Memories in a Trilogy
These songs have been with me since I was 15 cruisin in the '68 Chevy Impala my dad gave mr for my quince anos. They are like the soundtrack to our life. I fell in love with my fiancee for cherishing oldies as much as I do. They bring back so many memories. This box set says it all! Its Memories in a trilogy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Some real Gems that Deserve a Listen
I was watching TV last week, and on came a commercial using Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love", still one of my favorite songs. I hopped onto Amazon & found this CD collection. What a great set of choices! Some you would find on the radio today. But some I thought would be lost forever. I was living in Ft. Lauderdale in 1973, when I first heard El Chicano. If you've never heard "Tell Her She's Lovely", you are in for a treat. Still sounds as good as it did then, great lyrics, great sound.

5-0 out of 5 stars ORALE.... ¡De Aquellas!
These songs are fantastic & make you feel good! They will always be loved and listened too. These songs have been around for many to enjoy, especially Latinas & Latinos. Viva La Raza! Chayanne has never been a particularly expressive singer, but the schizophrenic sounds of Sincero make for one of the most appealing and liberating albums of the Puerto Rican pop hunk's career. The entertainer's carefully choreographed dance moves and smoldering good looks often overshadowed his singing in the past, but Sincero finds Chayanne spreading his wings and stretching his vocal abilities to good effect. The album blends tender love songs, acoustic instrumentation, earthy dance rhythms, salsa, ska-tinged rock and even a few bluesy touches into one surprisingly irresistible package. Freed from the constraints of by-the-numbers ballads and generic dance tracks, Chayanne sounds re-energized through much of the album, often echoing the no-frills sentiments of Spanish singer Alejandro Sanz. "Sentada Aqui en Mi Alma" and "Un Siglo Sin Ti" are subtly intoxicating moments; "Caprichosa" and "Santa Sofia" benefit from tight musical accompaniment and forceful chorus cries. It's a surprising move for the singer after so many commercially successful years in the game, but Sincero seems to have finally unlocked the untapped potential hidden behind Chayanne's pretty-boy packaging.--Joey Guerra ... HE LOOKS REALLY GOOD!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Sin duda el mejor de Chayanne

4-0 out of 5 stars A Classic
Chayanne is one of my favorite artists. He is the best. His ballads are soothing, sentimental and catchy. Caprichosa is captivating. The whole album is enjoyable to listen to. I recommend this album with no reservations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
First time I heard Shayanne was on Gran Canaria in Spain. I heard the song Vaiven on the radio and felt in love with that song! I buyed the album and it's one of the greatest album ever made IMO.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Sincere and Personal Cd for Chayanne
Chayanne's one of the biggest latin stars ,even though he has not made a real crossover he is known worlwide as a latin balladeer and as the great dancer he is!

this cd shows his favorite personal sounds, not so dance oriented but more romantic and a little more "rock " than previous cd's.

I still think he needs a new production team when it comes to his rythm and dance songs and to release his dance singles in more and different versions to get the attention of both the romantic and the dance comunity! Please contact Junior Vazquez,John Jellybean Benitez,Full Intention,Thunderpuss,Motiv 8,or any of the hottest remixers and release a Dance Remixed Cd of your Faves and you'll see the results!!!!!

His ballads as always are beautiful and he gets into your heart with his soultry ,romantic voice...

Although this is a very personal cd for him ,it's still a great one! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Putomayo Winner
I'm partial to world music. I'm partial to women in music. This CD was made for people like me. A cornucopia of styles, voices and moods, this collection is a Putumayo treasure that I listen to at work, at home, or in my walkman. If you don't know Lhasa de Sala's music (to my knowledge, she has only released on gorgeous CD) De Cara a la Pared is a passionate introduction to her voice and style. Putumayo favorite Rita Ribeiro's Ha Mulheres puts some bounce in my step as I walk down the street with my Discman. Susana Baca's Zamba Malato' is a show for this woman's eloquence and emotional delivery. The CD is rounded off by Mercedes Sosa, Argentina's long-time queen of protest music with a voice full of gusto. This CD is an excellent showcase of the music of the women of Latin America. I'm eagerly awaiting Volume II!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
This is a wonderful album full of great songs sung by women from Latin America. Countries such as Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, Columbia, Mexico, Chile and the Dominican Republic. These are upbeat songs for the most part, which reflect the influences of African and European music on the Native South and Central American cultures. The 27 page booklet contains a photo and information on each artist and song as well as an introduction to Latin American music and the roles that women played in it. The booklet is written in both English and Spanish. Each and every song on this album is wonderful, impossible to choose a favourite.

5-0 out of 5 stars Latinas: Women of latin America
Whether or not you are an avid listener of Latin music or women vocalists, this album is bound to please almost all tastes. There are portions that remind me of Buena Vista Club; others of Mercedes Sosa's Vengo a Ofrecerte Mi Corazon. Then there are wonderful Brazilian songs, so different from Andean music, portrayed by Eva Ayllon and Trio Los Chasquis. Mexico and the Dominican Republic are also represented. In other words, no listener will be disappointed. I plan to purchase more from Putamayo World Music! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT PIANO ALBUM....
One of my first albums... ever since I learned about Di Blasio I've always been a fan. He's a great pianist and great composer.
I just wish he could give us more in the composing side...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
I also found out this song from Maria Butyrskaya using it at Worlds...she is my favorite skater and Otonal is a great song!!! The only problem was thats Marias recording sounded AWFUL when she skated to it (hey, thats what hapeens when you use the same thing for 2 1/2 years! It sounds wonderful on the CD though and I reccomend it to anyone that likes piano concertos!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dramatic and beautiful
I find out about Di Biago because Maria Butyrskaya used the piano piece "Otonal" in her free skate, where she won the World Championship title in March 99. The music is beautiful. However, I would love if he takes off the annoying drum beat and keep the pure piano music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Music for yours dreams
What a wonderful music! The melody takes you to beatiful places, just like your dreams. He is one of the best piano players of our times. If you like piano music this CD is for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful music - Composes/plays wonderful music
Discovered Raul Di Blasio's music in Puerto Vallarta and have loved everything he has recorded. He writes most of his songs and plays the piano beautifully. Truly a master in all ways. I highly recommend piano/instrumental lovers to try him - you won't be sorry. ... Read more

On this energizing collection of Spanish-language devotional songs, Texan singer Jaci Velásquez uses her deeply emotional, octave-stretching voice to spread the word to a whole new audience. About half the songs are translations of existing hits, from "God So Loved" to "On My Knees," "Little Voice Inside," and "I Promise," while the rest are new songs written in Spanish. The songs are fabulous, and they mirror the eclecticism of contemporary Hispanic sounds--from the amped-up Tejano surefire hit "Con Tu Amor," which will please fans of Selena, to the many lush ballads and the freestyle-inspired dance-floor rocker "Junto a Mi." --Mike McGonigal ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great CD
When I heard Jaci Velasquez's Spanish set at the International Festival in Houston I was inspired to buy the CD ``LLegar a Ti.'' It is so much better than her English CD's, however having heard her in concert, I have greater hope for her next Spanish CD. I don't think she has quite crossed the bridge into Latin music with this CD. I wish Con Tu Amor was done more as a merengue or Cuban (you almost hear it in the piano) than like a certain type of ``South American'' music that was popular for a couple of years in the mid 80's. Junito A Mi great but where are the timbales? Electronic drums just don't sound as good. I sure wish I could get my hands on an in-concert recording. If you have a bootleg please email me (jusk kidding Sony). LLegar A Ti is GREAT CD. I will certainly buy her next Spanish CD based on my opinion of this one (O that it will be ``Jaci Valasquez Live'').

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellente!
This is Jaci's best cd yet. Her other cds are wonderful, but her voice is more mature and beautiful in this cd than the others."Llegar A Ti" and "Con Tu Amor" are THE BEST in my opinion. They have a really cool Latin salsa beat and great lyrics. Most of the other songs are gentle ballads and beautiful slower songs, but I still think the fast ones are the best!I think it's really awesome how Jaci sings the translated versions of some of her previous songs.I think this cd rivals Selena, and it is MUCH better than some other Latin singers out there(i.e Ricky Martin)! If I were you, I'd grab my keys and zoom off to the nearest store or order it on the internet,it's really amazing. The lyrics praise God, too. Don't listen to all the reviewers that diss her lyrics, they can't speak a word of espanol past"Hola!Como esta?" And I thought"Heavenly Place" was good!Wow!This is one awesome cd!Gracias a Dios!:)

5-0 out of 5 stars Jaci at her Best
This album kicks off to a great start with "Con Tu Amor", an awesome song with a Latin feel. The high-quality songs continue with the soulful "Llegar a Ti" (the title track and, in my opinion, the best song on the album), translations of her English songs ("Un Lugar Celestial", "Al Mundo Dios Amo", "Como una Flor", etc.), and great new songs like "Junto a Mi" and "Solo Tu". This is definitely Jaci at her best--Milagro, while more modern and popular, just doesn't live up to the standard she set in Llegar a Ti. I would recommend this album even if you don't speak Spanish. (Actually, it's a good way to learn it!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Latin Music With A Meaningful Twist: Jaci Velasquez!
I have always been a fan of Latin music, well, certain artists like Selena, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Jon Secada, and Gloria Estefan. However, none of them (no offense) can match up to the versatility and voice of Jaci Velasquez. Although LLEGAR A TI fits into the Latin genre, because of some of the music, it has a more meaningful twist than the rest of the above. Jaci proves to herself and all her loved ones that she has a purpose in doing in what she does. That purpose is to reach out to believers and unbelievers alike through witnessing for Christ, by music.

Her voice is outstanding on this CD! My all-time favorite song of hers is on it: the title track! The Spanish versions of "Un Lugar Celestial (A Heavenly Place)", "Look At What Love Has Done", "God So Loved", "On My Knees", "Flower In The Rain", and "Little Voice Inside" are just as beautiful as the English versions. The originals are living proof that Jaci loves God, and she loves doing music!

I pray that Jaci will continue to reach out to the Latin community with this "new" kind of Latin music in a very positive way, with both LLEGAR A TI and MI CORAZON! God bless you, sister Jaci!

5-0 out of 5 stars Que Bueno!!!
Jaci V is absolutely AWESOME on this album! My friend and I love the tunes of Con Tu Amor and Junto a Mi for dancing a great merengue! And the title cut is absolutely beautiful! As I say, Gotta luv Jaci V! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great performing, great recording, a must-have!
You just can't buy the De mi alma latina (1) without having to purchase the second one. Domingo is at his best, and the recording quality is one of the best among the many Cds I have. A special track is the No.7 medley: Perdon/Obsesion with the great vocalist Maggie Carles. Also "Que daria", track no.4, which is a new song composed specially to suit Domingo's voice and style now became one of the most beautiful songs I ever heard. This album also features "La paloma", "Cuando Calienta el sol", "Guantamera" & "Volver, volver" among many others. The only drawback of this album is the choice of the songs, which was difficult, because the De mi alma latina 1 took every song there is to take, and left a narrow choice for the 2nd to choose from.

4-0 out of 5 stars a great perfomer for a great selection of musics

4-0 out of 5 stars Even In Spanish, ABBA Is The Best
As a HUGE fan of Euro-dance, I have always held a special place in my heart for ABBA as they are pretty much the forefathers of our modern-day dance music. Their melodies and arrangements are incredible to this day. As a great ABBA fan, I tend to buy anything that is ABBA. So, when I ran across "ABBA-Oro Grandes Exitos", I went ahead and grabbed it. While the entire album is made up of Spanish language versions of some of their major hits, ABBA's spirit and excellence does not get lost in the translation. Just as rich and warm as the original English versions, these songs are given an added spark of nostalgia when turned into Spanish. This special collection of the Swedish group singing their English hits in Spanish is highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars As magical as EVER!
Abba is not just one of the best European groups of all time, they are one of the best groups ever worldwide! Oro, a collection of their Spanish tracks, proves that a great band sounds good in any language! Frida and Agnetha are just as powerful on the Spanish versions of 'Dancing Queen' and 'Fernando.' So, why did they record in Espanol anyway? Well, their English tunes made a huge impact worldwide, accept in Latin America. Thus, they decided, in the late 70's, to re-record some of their best songs in Spanish to break into the Latino market. Let's just say, it did the trick! Within a short amount of time, they were topping the charts from Mexico to Argentina. Abba were way ahead of their time, and continue to have success because of this. Even if you don't speak Spainsh, this album is still highly enjoyable from start to finish. Spanish, German, French, Swedish, and English: Abba recorded in all these languages during their time together. And managed to sound magical in each one.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Always, Top-Notch ABBA!
One of the joys of being into a group like ABBA is that every time you pick up one of their albums, you know that you'll be hearing a well polished piece of work. Not every single song may ring your bell, but it seems like there was always high quality work ethic put into each album.

This collection of ABBA's hits is one of their crowning glories that I think gets overlooked too often. The lyrics of hits like "Dancing Queen" and "Thank You For The Music" are translated beautifully into Spanish, retaining the original meaning of the song, and without awkward or incompetent rhymes.

One of my favorite tunes on this collection is "Dame! Dame! Dame! (Amor Esta Noche)," which we know as "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)." Out of all the sultry & saucy ABBA tunes, I always thought this song drove home the love-hungry theme better than any other. This Spanish cover captures the same exact passionate feeling, nothing diluted here!

There was a follow up to this CD called "Mas Oro," which was not bad at all, but paled in comparison to this collection. If you are even just a casual ABBA fan, "Oro" is worth going out of your way to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oro-Grandes Exitos [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED]
~ Abba is one cool collection. The songs loose nothing of their luster since abba sounds good in any language.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABBA ORO is music to the ears !!!
This was the FIRST ABBA record I ever owned. Originally released in 1980, The LP originally titled GRACIAS POR LA MUSICA (Thank You For The Music) featured some of ABBA's big hits (and a couple of lesser known songs) sung entirely in espanol.

I must say (being a latino) that the girls sing wonderfully in spanish. The star vocalist on this album is Agnetha, since she sings most of the songs and her vocal work is superb. I prefer the spanish versions of CHIQUITITA, FERNANDO, THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC(Gracias por la musica) & GIMME GIMMIE GIMMIE (Dame Dame Dame) over the original english versions. Main reason being is that the vocals and harmonies are far more clearer and pristine in the spanish versions. Agnetha's voice sounds spotless in CHIQUITITA, GRACIAS POR LAS MUSICA, AL ANDAR (Move On), and DAME DAME DAME. We get to hear the delicacy and texture of her gorgeous voice more here than on ABBA's other albums. And since the songs here are not as textured and overdubbed like their english counterparts, we get to hear the delightful harmonies in all of their ABBA-esque splendour. Just listen to the chorus in CHIQUITITA and AL ANDAR and you will see what I mean. The english versions sound bigger but the spanish versions are crisper, less intense production-wise but far superior in vocal sound and texture. Frida also shines in FERNANDO, ESTOY SONANDO (I Have a Dream) and CONOCIENDOME CONOCIENDOTE (Knowing Me Knowing You).

With all of that said, I must also frankly state that the english version of DANCING QUEEN (La Reina Del Baile) is slightly better. Vocally the girls sound great but the overall production is slightly inferior. We don't get that intense and embellished musical production. LA REINA DEL BAILE sounds a bit watered down, less absorbing. However it's still a great song in any language and the girls devine voices and the timeless melody makes this one of the CD's showstoppers.

Commercial wise, the LP GRACIAS POR LA MUSICA was a world-wide hit- especially in Latin America and the first single taken off the album CHIQUITITA reached # 1 in Argentina, Mexico and my native Chile among several other countries. The CD version retitled ABBA ORO contains 5 songs not included in the album originally- FELCIDAD (Happy New Year), ANDANTE ANDANTE, SE ME ESTA ESCAPANDO (Slipping Through My Fingers), NO HAY A QUIEN CULPAR (When all is said and done) and RING RING. I must warn anyone reading this review that it's the cd with the black covering of ABBA ORO that contains the bonus tracks not the gold plated one. I happened to stumble upon both of them at a store here in TORONTO and I was able to purchase the 15 track ABBA ORO in BLACK.

And lastly, you don't need to know a word of spanish to appreciate this cd. The melodies are timeless and the girls voices are astonishing. This needs to be right next to your ABBA GOLD cd. It's simply FANTASTICO! ! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Heavenly
Having never heard this woman sing I had only seen her name. With the plethora of female artists around it is hard to sort out the mediocre from the outstanding without breaking the bank. I was turned on to this artist recently by a good friend and have since listened to Tania sing incessantly. Perfect for those quite moments, this CD has accompanied me on my mornings hikes. By the time I reach the 1500 ft. elevation I am soaring well beyond the clouds on the wings of Tanias lovely voice. Since this is a collection of hits the arrangements are all very different but all outstanding. There are minimilist accompanyments but it works well because her voice is so lovely. At other times the songs have a jazzy flow to them, puntuated by sexy sax that further adds to her seductive voice. Often the songs have a Mexican flavor, complete with mariachi. At other times they bear testement to her own ethnicity with a Peruvian sound. Whatever the arrangement it is superably done, with lush accompanyments, including strings and harp, befitting an angelic voice for the ages. She reminds me of Lila Downs but much more sophisticated and polished. There is not a dog in the bunch, nothing but winners on this CD. This is one of those CD's that sounds better and better with each listening, as you become more familiar with the voice the message becomes clearer and clearer. It is hard to pick favorites but without doubt the four Jose Alfredo Jimenez penned songs are outstanding, particularly one of my all time faves "Cuando Sale La Luna." Her version gives me goosebumps, it is hauntingly beautiful. An interesting number is the Sting pop tune from a few years back entitled "Fragile"...........with it's repetitive phrasing "how fragile we are".... only this is in Spanish. It is beautiful just as so much of this CD is. I look forward to exploring more of this artists music but for starters this is an outstanding representation. This CD is guarateed to take you to heaven and back with Tania's beautiful voice.

5-0 out of 5 stars magical
I first heard this amazing singer a few weeks ago on a "Mexico, Voz y Sentimiento" CD that had the exquisite "Cuando Sale la Luna" on it, and immediately bought this great compilation, which has 19 additional songs that are a joy to hear.

"Concierto para Una Voz", with a piano and strings accompaniment is a rare gem, as is the long (7:51 minutes) "Alfonsina y el Mar" sung to a harp solo. "Tres Palabras" is a fabulous duet with Miguel Bose, and her interpretation of "Gracias a la Vida" is a marvel...but in nearly 75 minutes of music, there isn't a dull moment on this CD.

I've never enjoyed listening to a female voice as much as Tania's, not only for the beauty of her sound, but also for the artistry of her style, and I can't conceive of anyone on the planet not being captured by the magic of it also. This is heavenly music for the whole world, whether you understand Spanish or not.

There is only a song/composer/time list on the insert, but the guys will like the cover photo...she looks like a sultry belle, but wait 'til you hear the loveliness of her voice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking!
Concierto Para Una Voz (a capella), Gracias a La Vida, and Alfonsina y El Mar alone make this CD a Tour-de-Force for anyone who likes superb chanteusses and their great performances.

A Peruvian gift, Miss Libertad enfuses her songs with a whole rainbow of subtle emotions. ... Read more

I love this CD. It has great love songs that remind me of alot of great memories. If you like spanish ballads, than this is for you. Just take a listen for yourself.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you want to fall in love, listen to this CD
If you want to fall in love, listen to this CD. When I listen to songs like "Sera", "Te Amo" I can fall in love with a pretty girl I just like. Ricardo sings with the highest level of rommantical passion I have ever heard.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exelente cantante!
Debo decir que es un exelente imprete, creo que se nesecita mucho talento y efuerzo para lograr ser exitoso.

En mi opinion, el mejor de la hepoca es Ricardo.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great complation album from Ricardo Montaner!
Ricardo Montaner's best songs from his earlier works are on this CD, and they are all great to listen too, including "Yo Que Te Amé", "Tan Enamorados", "Vamos A Dejarlo", "Será", "Vamos Pa' la Conga", "Ojos Negros", "Déjame Llorar", and "Un Mundo Ideal", plus the rest which are just as great. Montaner also wrote almost all the songs and his writing skills for music are just as good as his voice. You can't find a better complation album from a great Latin artist.

5-0 out of 5 stars To Set the record straight
This Cd is the first Cd this group made under their new name MANA. It has favorite songs such as perdido en un barco, rayando el sol, estoy agotado, buscandola, falta amor and gitana. All of these songs are now our on their new greatest hits collection called "mana essenciales". I would like to set the record straight in saying that all of these songs do not sound the same,, each one is a different style of music. Also, this group is not four mexicans, one of the aspects of the group that gives it a unique flavor, is the mix of the cuban drummer, the poetic lead singer, and the great guitarists. This CD is a must if wanting to get to know the original MANA.

4-0 out of 5 stars ESTE ES UN EXCELENTE INICIO

3-0 out of 5 stars A complete review, with nothing extra.
This early Mana sound is not too bad, but most of the songs sound the same. Ofcourse if it wasent for this CD we would have never heard "Rayando el sol"(scratching the sun) wich is one of the best songs in the world. Another fantastic song in this CD is "Perdido en un barco"(lost in a ship) wich has a caribean sound. Song number nine "La puerta azul"(the blue door) will make your heart remember love. Although this CD was made by four Mexicans It has no Mariachis on it, but most songs include an acustic guitar. Its not the best CD in the world but after all this record was made by Mana and when was the last time you heard a bad Mana song?

5-0 out of 5 stars True fan......
This CD is what we call an old school great. If you are a true fan of Mana and want a mix of latin rythms with rock en espanol, go for it. As for the people who believe this is not one of their better CDs, they must have jumped on the bandwagon at the wrong time or for the wrong reasons. Their following CD put them on the map, those after that, are still good CDs but lost some of its old school appeal. You can't blame them for trying to capture a different fan base. In either case, they are one of the best latin bands of all time and it appears they will continue to be for a long time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the others, but "Rayando el sol" make it rock
I bought this cd for one reason, "Rayando el sol" cause that song is one of their best songs! But the rest of the cd is average "Perdido en un barco" is a nice latin pop song and "Falta Amor" is a nice lyric song, but it doesn`t have the same feeling as "Suenos Liquidos" "Unplugged" and "Cuando los angeles lloran" but it is worth to have for any real mana fan(like me). It is also alot softer then their new material! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Go Toward The Light
This is the album back in 1991, that brought Gloria back to us after her horrible bus crash in 1990, she was already riding high before the accident with her just as great album, "Cuts Both Ways", when this album was released, "Into The Light", holds up very well, with her inspiring first single and ulimate comeback song "Coming Out Of The Dark" which gave Gloria her 3rd #1 hit and her last, next we were treated to the very energy charged "Seal Our Fate", a great song and shows that Gloria can turn up the volume with the best of them. Next came "Can't Forget You" another good song and put Gloria back into the top 10 at #9, and then came the ever positive "Live For Living You" a song an video showing the fun side of Gloria, this song went to #21 and was the last to be released from this album, "Into The Light" continued her track record of hit albums and hit songs, but like her other albums there are terrific non-released material, like "Remember Me With Love" & "Heart With Your Name On It", and Gloria today proves why she is one of the more enduring artists of our time.

5-0 out of 5 stars This one is great.
I rank this CD as one of Gloria's best. I enjoy listening to the songs and there are few boring places that I want to skip over. Because it was produced the year following her bus accident, it was made during a time of crisis. That must be the main reason most of the songs show a more pensive and serious side to life, as compared to the songs on her earlier albums. The songs "Seal our Fate", "What Goes Around", and "Sex in the 90's" are examples of the subject of how people can get into trouble. In addition, "Coming out of the Dark", "Nayib's Song", "Close my Eyes" and "Mama Yo Can't Go" have references to depression and melancholy. These songs are refreshing to me because they convey a realistic approach to life that I and (certainly) many people can relate to. On the other hand, it has other songs that are more cheerful. To me, this album is also a good way to remember the atmosphere during the period of recovery after the bus accident.

5-0 out of 5 stars Into The Light (1991) Glorita Estefan
In 1990, while the band was on tour, Gloria was in a serious bus accident, where she broke her spinal cord. The accident was supposed to have left her paralyzed, but the doctors managed to prevent that by inserting two metal rods into Gloria's lower back.

In 1991, a year after the accident, Miami Sound Machine became just a back-up band for Gloria, as she became a solo act. In 'English' terms, Gloria stayed with the band, but they dropped 'Miami Sound Machine', so that Gloria can go on as a solo artist. Gloria released her fifth album, Into The Light, in the same year as the band change. This album, which was Gloria's fifth when you count the first four with Miami Sound Machine, reflects on what happened when Gloria got into her accident. This is another one of my favorite albums.

The first single from the album. This is the song that mainly has the album reflecting on her accident. It's not a bad song.

Although the message in this song has been used many times over the years by different acts, but just about everybody has to have a song with this message and Gloria took the liberty of making herself the next person to record a song with this message. When you are going for something that you want in life, then don't put it off until tomorrow, because if tomorrow comes, you may wake up tomorrow and find out that your chance was taken away from you. If you want to reach for your goals, then do it while you have the chance. Don't you dare put it off until you decide you have the time to get around to it.

Another song with a great message. This message is being said to everyone in this everyday world. What goes around, most definitely comes around. Whatever you do onto other people, the other people will do onto you. That's best way I could put it.

Nayib is Gloria and Emilo's son, who was born in 1980, which would make him eleven years old when this album was released. Gloria decided to have written and recorded this song for her son and I thought it was a great gesture.

A pretty song.

Not bad.

A great dance song.

Another pretty song.

The second single from the album. This is yet another beautiful song.

The third and final single from the album. This was yet another one of my favorite songs and it's another song that takes me back to my childhood.

Not a favorite.

This is the Spanish version of the song. It was nice to have her open the album with the English version and close the album with the Spanish version, but I prefer the English version.

I love the concept of this album and every Gloria fan should have it.

4-0 out of 5 stars LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
The tunnel in question is the long rehab period Gloria went thru after her 1990 accident.
She took her time out, wrote a whole new album and it turned out to be one of her best works.
She is as mainstream as ever: SEAL OUR FATE brings a rock flavour to her work she never experienced before, CAN'T FORGET YOU is a great AC Top 40 ballad as much as the Diane Warren-penned HEART WITH YOUR NAME ON IT is a pop-oriented one.
Warren provides help also on the latin-influenced LIVE FOR LOVING YOU.
She also delivers a track called LANGUAGE OF LOVE that appears as a bonus track on the European release of the cd.
Dancefloor fans will be delighted with WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND and SEX IN THE '90'S.
COMING OUT OF THE DARK is definitely the strongest point of the whole album, being the most auto-biographical one, full of gospel reminescences.
Gloria proves more than just a latin artist, this album is the proof.

5-0 out of 5 stars An uplifting "comeback"
Into The Light is a very enjoyable CD. There are thirteen songs on here (the last one is actually a Spanish version of the hit "Coming Out Of The Dark.") The music is very diverse and has an even mix of fast, slow and mid-tempo songs. It's a very inspiring CD, especially since it was released after Gloria recovered from her bus accident. The songs are uplifting and lighthearted, but also contain important messages about not giving up, etc. I'm grateful for this CD and that Gloria was able to record it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Son increible por separado

5-0 out of 5 stars Muy bueno
Muy buena colección de clásicos de ambos artistas.Demuestra que a la hora de la verdad los colores no son barreras para nada...

4-0 out of 5 stars Para fanticos y conocedores

4-0 out of 5 stars Grande Pablo
