5-0 out of 5 stars dulce y suave
Honey-sweet singing, lovely melodies, and good production values make this a terrific addition to my Mexican music collection in the "grupo" genre. Los Temerarios have been going strong for over 20 years, and are led by Gustavo Angel (vocals and guitar) and his older brother Adolfo Angel (keyboards). They write all the material and perform it to perfection. If you like this type of romantic balada, Los Temerarios are the best.

The lyrics are all about lost love, and tend to be exceedingly sappy, but are sung with such emotional conviction that it gives them an innocent, naive charm, and musically it is outstanding, making for very satisfying, easy listening.
Though the themes are heartbreak and loneliness, it is a peaceful and uplifting CD; the songs are moderately slow throughout, with a good steady beat, wonderful for background music and an ideal CD to keep in your car, calming the mood even when driving in the crunch of downtown Los Angeles traffic.

Highlights for me are "Enamorada de Ti", "Quise Olvidarme de Ti", and the beautiful "Mi Vida Eres Tu", but there are no weak songs on this CD, and Gustavo's clear, high voice is a delight.
The booklet insert has all the lyrics and diffused photos of the brothers. The sound is first-rate and total playing time 58'07.

The package includes a DVD with eight music videos, lyrics, photos, biographies and discography, which alas, since I don't own a DVD player, can't enjoy or describe, but I'm sure it lives up to the quality of this excellent CD. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Probably her best album ever

5-0 out of 5 stars Lo más romántico de Marisela

5-0 out of 5 stars Bubblegum That Keeps Its Flavor
This is the finest example of bubblegum that appeals to many , many people. Produced by Mexican singer/songwriter Marco Antonio Solis , of "Los Bukis " fame , this album's content sounds very much like a mixture of teen pop , and Mexican bar music. As odd as that may sound , it is only one way to describe this album's diversity. Every song stays clear on the course and never loses itself as to where the song is headed to. This album introduced us to Marisela , the 15 year old LA native with a sweet , yet sexy soprano that stole the hearts of millions of people. Her vocals sound surprisingly convincing , and although her spanish may have been short , her femininity is still present on every track. It's impossible to single out any outstanding tracks , since every single one of them is nearly excellent! If you haave ever hummed a Madonna song , you will love this CD.It is definitely worth buying! you must own it now! ... Read more

The border country of Texas and Mexico was largely settled by German immigrants, who gave the towns names like New Berlin and brought their native instruments, such as the accordion, to play the polkas and other dances they loved. Over the course of a few generations, these new Americans and the Mexican cultures mixed, giving rise to the music known as Tex-Mex. Santiago Jimenez, Sr. was one of Tex-Mex's leading accordion players. His son Flaco expanded the genre. His other son, Santiago, Jr., kept his father's tradition very much alive. It's old-fashioned, but it's meant to be. The button accordion takes the lead, backed by 12-string guitar, drums, and bass--which is played here by a special guest, Mark Rubin of the Austin bluegrass band, the Bad Livers. As dance music, this is irresistible stuff. Before you know it, you'll be tapping your toes, and experiencing a desire to grab a partner and start gliding across the floor. And why shouldn't it get to you? This material has stood the test of time. Jimenez puts his own voice into it, but it's essentially the same thing that's thrilled three or four generations. And all those Texans can't be wrong.--Chris Nickson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Christian Music!
I love Nikki Leonti's new CD! Its great to hear powerful Christian lyrics w/ up-beat music that i love. The beat isn't overpowering and doesn't drown out the message she is relating to her listeners. I recommend it 100%! Hey, if you like this music as much as i do, email me @ avalon79@hotmail.com!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nikki Leonti has a great message that is easy to listen to.
I bought this CD after hearing one Nikki Leonti song (It'll Come to You). I loved the CD from the first time I heard it. The song "What You Did for Me" really has great meaning to me. This CD has a great message, while still being easy to listen to. I would reccomend this CD for anyone that is a fan of contemperary christian music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD for unique times!
I first heard the song "It'll Come to You" on a local Christian radio station while on a retreat in Irondale, Ala. I found out who the artist was and purchased her CD. All the songs on it are great; some, including the one mentioned, are potential secular mainstream hits(containing positive messages, which we all need post 9/11). Nikki, where have you gone? We need to hear more from you...

5-0 out of 5 stars One of my FAVORITE CDs!
The first song I heard of hers was on the radio, it was the song It Will Come To You, it was a great song and I wondered who did it. When I got it for Christmas I was so excited that I had that song, but I was amazed when I found that I really liked every single song on the whole CD!! She has so many good songs and if you are sick of the overly roudy stuff, she doesn't have an extreamly loud set of songs. Nikki is a great example to teens and has a lot of great music and great lyrics! I very much reckomend this CD!

3-0 out of 5 stars could've been more impressed
hi. I think that Nikki Leonte's album "Shelter me" is pretty good. I really like her song "Shoelaces" I just thought it was perfect for how most schools are getting to be. I mean almost everyone is trying to run with the crowd, when what they should be doing is getting closer to God. Over all the album would get about 3 and a half stars from me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 Exceptions to Rico's Comments
In "La Enorme Distancia", the distance referred to is not pysical or geographical, it is EMOTIONAL-in "No Me Amenazes", the singer is NOT begging his lover to leave, but for her to STOP THREATENING to leave him-as the title says, for he cannot stand the emotional uncertainty anymore. Otherwise, I enjoyed your review.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best collections
Add a star to the rating on this collection of "greatest hits." Probably every one of El Rey's most popular recordings on one double disc. This is the quintessential CD for lovers of ranchera music penned and performed by El Rey. Although I own most of these recordings in original vynyl it is handy to have them on CD. All the songs are written by El Rey and performed with the godfather of all Mariachi's, El Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan with arrangements and direction by el maestro Ruben Fuentes. There are classic songs of love like "Ameneci en tus brazos,""Un mundo raro,""Cuando vives con migo," and his great tribute song "Paloma querida." There are songs of many loves like "El siete mares" where he sings of having a woman in every port, of heartbreak as in "La Enorma Distancia" where he longs for his lover who is miles away and "No me amenaces," where he practically cries telling his lover to leave "pero no se ha ido." There are various Serenatas and songs that are about the pride of being Mexican but they have an appeal that is universal. Some songs may be considered by some to be "tears in your beer" music but El Rey has a way of making even the saddest of stories uplifting, it appeals to the macho in all males. Not one loser here just winners. My only complaint is that "El 15 de Septiembre" is missing. Also missing is the heartfelt "Gracias," his tribute song to all his fans, if you've never heard it you're missing something. He's written so many songs though that it is understandable. This is a superb disc that will get countless play from ranchera lovers. The accompanying booklet is brief but informative. Ranchera music never gets old and although Jose Alfredo Jimenez has long ago passed through this world his legacy lives on for new generations to discover and those familiar to savor. Fittingly enough the CD ends with "El Rey", Jose Alfredo Jimenez "sige siendo el rey."

5-0 out of 5 stars "El Padrino" of Mexican Music
Jose Alfredo Jimenez was the best all time composer of this type of music. All his songs contained in this collection have been sung by many different artist everywhere. Although he is no longer with us, his songs will always remain in our hearts. One of the best collection yet. I have all these already and really enjoyed them. They're sung from the heart!!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums I've ever listened to
I've never heard anyone's songs touch the heart like do Jose Alfredo's. This album has 33 of his greatest songs, an amazing bargain for the price offered.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest singers of Mexican music

To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Intocable produced this ambitious double CD as a gift to their loyal fans. Disc One is a 14-track collection of all new songs featuring more of Intocable's strengths--hooky melodies, tight instrumentation and vocal harmonies--evident on "Aire," the first single, and "Soledad." The group injects folk rock rhythms on "Tiempo," a tune about sensing the end in a relationship, and "Es Alguien Mas," on the fear of wasting time with the wrong person. Other keepers are "Ahora Que Te Perdi," a mellow norteño ballad which stands out for its lyrics on the importance of honesty. The narrator regrets his mistake when he songs "No supe valorarte" ("I Didn't Know How To Appreciate You"). The second CD features 11 Intocable tunes recorded by a variety of top artists. Ranchera singer Pepe Aguilar sings "Fuerte no Soy," electronica/rock act Kinky does "Coqueta," reggaeton singer Tego Calderon and rapper DJ Kane offer "En Paz Descanse," and Volovan takes on "Ya Ves." --Ramiro Burr ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Casas de Carton
This album is similar to "En Pleno Vuelo" in sound and style, mostly balads with other types of music here and there. "Tu Par" is a lively, capypso-style number. In "La Venia Bendita" Solis meshes well with Mariachi. Solis surprises the listener with "Casas de Carton," a song that he didn't write and which is not listed but is acknowledged in a personal note by Solis. He also has a video single out of this song, and I wonder if a portion of the proceeds are going to the needy people who live in casas de carton (paper shacks). There's still a Los Bukis sound to this album, but it's clear that Solis is on the road to establishing himself as a solo artist which he does in "Trozos de mi alma," his very best album. Typical of Solis' releases, the lyrics are included (as well as a bunch of pictures of himself).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Album!
What a great album. Every song is a gem and the backup music is perfect. It has all the rhythms of Mexico and a hidden track to boot! You'll love this one if you enjoy easy latin music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marco's music
Marco's music is truly angelic. His truth, his feelings, and his love all appear with every word he writes and sings. If one were to listen close enough one could almost feel his heart with each note he plays. 5-0 out of 5 stars Following his father's legacy
Alejandro Fernandez is one of the greatest singers of modern Mexican music. In my opinion he is one of ranchera's top three, the other two being the immortal Vicente Fernandez and Pepe Aguilar. Alejandro has inherited his father's vocal talents and is an amazing talent. Songs such as "Como quien pierde una estrella" are big hits and have beautiful lyrics. I hope a lot of people buy this and realize what a great singer this man is. Have a great day!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply a great CD!
This CD is without a doubt, one of the best ones I have ever heard. The music has great melody and the lyrics (like every CD from Alejandro) are top of the line. With hits like "Come quien pierde una estrella", this CD is a must. And for those guys who wish to conquer the heart of that special one, the lyrics of "La mitad que me faltaba" and "Que sera de mi" will melt any heart. This is plainly a well-rounded CD, a great CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars In his fathers footsteps
Great CD! "Que Bueno" and "El POtrillo" are great. His voice is packed with emotion, which he inherited from Vicente (One of the greatest ranchera singers ever). His range is excellent, the song selection is tops also. If you like baladas, corridos and old time ranchera but with modern production, then try this, cuz it's first class all the way.

5-0 out of 5 stars fabulous !
Alejandro Fernandez is incredible ! The man has been gifted as few mortals have...a voice of amazing beauty and power, absolutely stunning looks, great stage presence...and the musical instinct and knowledge to put out CDs of total excellence, and this is one of his best. He sings with soul and passion..listen to his voice soar in "Como Quien Pierde una Esrella" ! Other favorites include "Llorando Penas", "La Mitad que me Faltaba" (what romantic lyrics !) and "El Potrillo" which is about his heritage (his father is the legendary Vicente Fernandez) and his music. If you like Mexican music, This is one to treasure for many years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Como Me Encanta!
I am a HUGE fan of Alejandro and I feel this cd is his best. I have over 400 cd's of all different types of music and this one is in my top 10 favorites! I never tire of his beautiful voice or the beautiful songs. ... Read more

I SAW JUMBO IN CONCERT IN LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA BEST BAND IN ROCK EN ESPANOL SO FULL OF POSITIVE ENERGY AND THE BAND MEMBERS SEEM TO HAVE FUN DOING IT

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Mexican Band
Jumbo, is one of the best band of spanish rock i ever heard, songs like fotografia (great influence for me from Radiohead), showes a mature band.

5-0 out of 5 stars JUMBO/RESTAURANT
JUMBO ES SIN LUGAR A DUDAS UNA DE LAS MEJORES BANDAS DE ROCK EN ESPANOL, EN LOS ULTIMOS TRES ANOS EN MEXICO, RESTAURANT ES PRUEBA QUE EL ROCK EN ESPANOL TIENE AUN MUCHO POR OFRECESER, FOTOGRAFIA PUEDE SER CONSIDERADA UN CLASICO, BASTA CON ESCUCHARLA UNA VEZ, Y DEJARSE LLEVAR POR LA EXELENTE MUSICA Y LETRA, SIN DEJAR ATRAS SIENTO QUE... MONOTRANSISTOR, AQUI, ENTRE MUCHAS OTRAS, POR MENCIONAR SOLO ALGUNAS, DEFINITIVAMENTE SI TE CONSIDERAS FAN DE ESTE GENERO DE MUSICA EN PARTICULAR, ESTE ES UN CD QUE NO DEBE FALTAR EN TU COLECCION DE ROCK EN ESPANOL, JUNTO CON ZURDOK OTRA SUPER BANDA DE ROCK EN ESPANOL.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful band
Althougth this is their first CD, I've heard it after "D. D. y ponle play' (their most recent recording). I just have to tell you, Jumbo is way ahead from sounds like Mana or Cafe Tacuba. Yes, and definitely, their sound is more Radiohead, but thy are not a rip-off: they do their own thing. Just check it out. Jumbo is worth listening.

5-0 out of 5 stars There's still hope for the Latin Rock scene...
Up to date the Latino-rock scene was jaded with the likes of Mana, Jaguares/Caifanes,etc( bands typically overplayed). Not since Jumbo has the Latino rock/alternative scene been given a more definite identity in the last couple of years. Their music is reminiscent of the early 90's grunge era stemming from Seattle. Maybe Monterrey, Mexico has something up its sleeve? Whatever the case, Jumbo, along with Zurdok, are two of the current Latino rock/alternative bands that are paving the way in terms of where Latino rock/alternative music will soon be going! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It's amazing that such a mariachi exists
Probably the best interpreters of the son jalisciense today, Cobre begins with the son "El Jilguerillo." This son has not been recorded alot. I remember only Mariachi Oro y Plata and some really old recordings of Mariachi Vargas and Mariachi Tapatio. Steve Carrillo is perhaps one of the best arrangers in mariachi today. Listen, especially, to how the violins match the vihuala strumming. Their son duet singing is very good, although I would have like that they just stuck to two singers instead of switching every verse. "Popurri Pancho Villa" is one of my all time favorites. They give those yells reminicent of Franciso "El Charro" Avita and their corrido duets sould wonderful. Franciso Grijalva, Cobre's guitarrist has been a longtime fan of the nostalgia generation of Mexican music. His arrangement of "Maria Elena" is very beautiful. I have never heard a mariachi perform it with the lyrics. Steve Carrillo sings it with good style. Remember that this was one of the world's most famous songs when it came out. All I can say is "wow" to their renditin of Los Arrieros. There has not been such a good rendition of this son since Mariachi Vargas "Sones de Jalisco" album. There is a little bridge that is an honor to Mariachi Mexico's recordings with Memo Quintero and and Pepe Gutierrez in their album "El Autentico Son Jalisciense." There are some very well done trio boleros. "La Barca" has just a few year before been rerecorded by Luis Miguel and gained a huge following. Los Hnos. Cantoral made it a hit many years ago. I liked Molina's interpretation there as well has the trio arrangements. "Cuando Lloran Los Hombres" is sung by Randy Carillo. Randy only sung one song on their first album. He's come a long way with this Jose Alfredo classic. Mack Ruiz sings a good "El Cenzontle." Anyone going to Cobre's workshops at mariachi conferences remembers this song. Lalo Guerrero has been a hero to many of Cobre's members, most of them being from Tucson, AZ. Guerrero's classic "Nunca Jamas" is given here.

I first saw "Popurri Jorge Negrete" when Univision use to televise the Tucson mariachi conference. Steve Carrillo starts off with a good "Dulce Patria" and "Noche Plateada" Few can match Negrete, but Carrillo comes close. What I love is Mack Ruiz low voice in "Cuando Quiere Un Mexicano." Randy Carrilla sings "Tequila con Limon" with oumph. Miguel Martinez "La chuparrosa" is a trumpet gem. Steve Carrillo and Israel really pull it off well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid Adobe Wall of Sound!
An excellent album whether one is an established mariachi fan or a newcomer. The production values are outstanding, the instrumentation unbelievably tight, and the vocals enormously pleasing. In mariachi, Everybody Sings, and this album makes you glad they do! Los Changitos Feos have come a long way, and this is probably their best album to date. My only complaint is that they should record more.

5-0 out of 5 stars muy muy muy bueno muy mucho mas mas bueno
Muy bueno! Musica excellente! Megusta mucho Mariachi Cobre! Viva Cobre!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must CD very mariachi lovers.
Mariachi Cobre is one of the best mariachi's I've heard. They are truly one of the great mariachi's in the world. Each song is sung and played like no other. If you like mariachi music, this is one that you must buy for your collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love listening to Mariachi Cobre.
Mariachi Cobre has a very soothing sound when it comes to playing boleros and sonnes. The sound of Randy and Steve's voices singing together is just so beautiful. The way Cobre plays their instruments is so exciting to hear what they will play next. During the time between the end of the song to the beginning of the next one keeps you in suspense. You are yearning to hear what is next. I love this cd. Take my advice you will love it. ... Read more

In the years since Selena's death, label officials have released numerous hit compilations. Many of the big hits are here, from "Como la Flor" and "Mentiras" to early material such as "Que Creias" and "No Quiero Saber." The CD also includes the Juan Gabriel-penned classic "Costumbres," and here a young Selena does her best to interpret this torchy ranchera. Also cool are her hip cumbias "La Carcacha" and "Baila Esta Cumbia," where the young singer took a page from the tropical-cumbiero master Fito Olivares. But even the simple tunes like the melodic "Yo Fui Aquella," and the rhythmic cumbia "Besitos" maintain a breezy charm. --Ramiro Burr ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Selena!
I admit I speak no Spanish, I only know a few words in Spanish though. Even though I do not understand what Selena is singing in this album I still love it! Como La Flor is my favorite song! It feels weird listening to Selena when she's not here but she's here in a way. I still love Selena! I loved her since the Selena movie came out! Anyways, I recommend you buy this C.D. today! You'll cherrish it always!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mis Mejores Canciones
I love Selena's music; all of it! She had so much talent and was such a special person, as well. She could sing any style of music and do it so well. I have all her CD's as well as her videos, and most of her pictures. But, then again, so do millions of persons. Her music was sung from the heart and you can tell that she totally loved and enjoyed performing. Her songs kind of hit soft spots in all of us. We have lost a great young lady with such exceptional talent.

5-0 out of 5 stars It sure is a shock to hear this
after hearing all the Anglicized versions of a lot of these songs. It is also a shock for those not used to real Tejano, as most of the songs on this CD are...someone once described Tejano as "polka with Spanish lyrics," and they weren't far off the mark. This CD goes along nicely with Todos Mis Exitos and Todos Mis Exitos II as Selena primers, for those who have never heard any Selena at all. The songs I love on this CD are "Costumbres," "No Quiero Saber," "Yo Fui Aquella" (which is a real shocker if you've only heard the version on Anthology, as I had before buying this CD--you will not expect this!), "Besitos," "Mentiras," "Tú Eres," and a sweet Spanish version of "Sukiyaki." If you like Selena and want to know what music she did before "Dreaming Of You," BUY THIS CD!! I love it :)

5-0 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT!
One of Selena's best recordings from the beginning of 'Como la flor' to the end of 'La tracalera' you are truly in music heaven. My favourites are 'Mentiras', 'Costumbres', Yo fui aquella', 'No quiero saber' and 'Yo me voy'. If you don't already have it, Buy this now! That's all i have to say. BYE!

5-0 out of 5 stars Selena, still sad because of her death
From the moment on I've saw the biographical film of her I needed to buy a album. I guessed that the '17 exitos' not could be a mistake - and it wasn't. It is a different, it's texmex. When you're not used to this music it is a little bit strange, but you will like it every time more when listening. It's a pity that she was murdered, look to the big success of Ricky Martin, Shakira and many other latin singers - the world lost a voice. ... Read more
