2-0 out of 5 stars LUIS MIGUEL CUANDO VAS A HACER UN DISCO SOLO DE MARIACHIS?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Luis Miguel very much (see my review for Luis Miguel VIVO). His singing and styling is amongst the best of all Latin American singers. I have all his albums. I've gone to see him live three times in the last 12 years. My quibble is that he is relying too heavily on the boleros, when he should really exploit his talent with singing mariachi songs...the few songs he has done on his live albums demonstrate he can really do the genre a favor and give his loyal fans something to look forward to. Perhaps he does not think he can compete with the more established mariachi singers. I firmly believe with his range, class and worldwide prescence he can really open this musical door for fans worldwide who would never hear mariachi music otherwise. I listened to this CD and based on what I heard, I did not purchase it. It is not as good as any of the previous Romances and quite frankly, it is starting to sound a bit tired. LUIS MIGUEL, QUIERO OIRTE CANTAR: EL REY, TU SOLO TU, AMANECI EN TUS BRAZOS, LA BIKINA, Y, SI NOS DEJAN, LASTIMA QUE SEAS AJENA, VOLVER VOLVER, AY JALISCO NO TE RAJES, Y MUCHAS OTRAS LINDURAS DEL MARIACHI CON TU TOQUE ESPECIAL Y SENTIMIENTO EN UN DISCO Y NO EN VIVO! There, I've given him the playlist for his next release!

4-0 out of 5 stars Saved By The Voice
In his new recording, "Mis Romances", Luis Miguel is true to form mixing classic boleros with contemporary ballads, giving his fans the sound that has made him the most successful Latin crooner in history. As is expected the production of this album is impeccable. Accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Luis Miguel's voice soars and seduces at all the right moments. Interpretations of classic boleros are given a fresh new sound that attracts new generations to songs written decades ago. It is the same formula that Luis Miguel used with such success on his previous bolero albums, Romance, Segundo Romance and Romances with even the new title using the same formula. (How many different ways can you say romance?)

The song list includes several classic boleros such as "Tu me acustumbraste", "El tiempo que te quede libres" and the tango "Volver". "Como Duele" is a beautiful composition that superbly blends Luis Miguel's timeless vocals with the flow of the orchestra's music. Luis Miguel's voice soars in the lively "Corazon Amorcito". Probably the best song on the album is the gorgeous "Al que me siga", which appears to be destined as another Luis Miguel classic. The two up tempo songs on the album, "Amor" and "La ultima noche" do not fare as well. "Amor", the worst of the two, was the first single of the album that was released. As with many of Luis Miguel's recent up tempo songs it sounds dated and out of touch with contemporary sound. "La ultima noche" suffers from much of the same blandness with the exception of a kicking trumpet solo played by Arturo Sandoval towards the end of the song. It is a shame that the same rhythm was not used throughout this song, which would have been a breakthrough for Luis Miguel's music.

In fact the one glaring weakness with this album is that it sounds all too familiar. The same formula that has made Luis Miguel a household name throughout most of Latin America has also placed him in a cookie cutter mode of album production. That is not to say that his recent albums have not been lush productions worthy of praise but they are also sounding more and more dated. Luis Miguel's last two albums, "Amarte Es Un Placer" and "Mis Romances" are excellent works but they do not approach the classic status attributed to his first two bolero albums, "Romance" and "Segundo Romance".

Up to this point Luis Miguel has resisted the temptation to crossover into English language pop as so many recent Latin artist have. Depending on how "Mis Romances" is received Luis Miguel may find himself at a point where he either tries new sounds or risks becoming stale.

5-0 out of 5 stars absolutely memorable!!!!!!!
I met a woman, an extremeley beautiful and vibrant woman. and it was she who introduced me to the wide world of luis miguel. damn her to go to hell.!!!! i fell in love with her and i think she fell in love with me. everything about her is so new. im in elementary once again and having a mad crush on the girl with the curly hair, in the first row. god help me.luis miguel i hate you. i hate you to the core. and i hope you continue to destroy young hearts like ours. you brought love back. back where it belonged in the first place.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best romances ever! The other 3 donot compare!5 stars
This album is the best out of all the Romances collection. The first two albums are probably more popular, but fans need to hear this one. His voice has matured and the musicians in this album sound better than the Los Angeles and London philharmonic orchestra. Fans need to buy this c.d. and play it over there entire home. The first song "que sabes tu" is unbeliveable. It's a breathtaking song."Amor" is the best pop song he has done his entire career. I hope he plays this song indefinatly in concert."perfidida" composed romanticcally. This album is 5 stars and 5 more. This album establishes Luis Miguel as the artist of our time. No one can come near him. Marco Antonio Solis,Enrique Inglesias, Julio Iglesias and ricky martin will never come near him in talent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brillante
Luis Miguel es sencillamente un artista de excelencia. Ha llegado al punto exacto de madurez. Sin dejar las baladas pop, ha marcado un sello en la música latina. Even if you dont understand spanish, but you like ballads, you should have this CD.
A mi modo de ver, él debió haber incluido algunos temas mas movidos en este disco, pero creo que el título no lo merecía así.

Es un disco profundo, con mucho , pero mucho romanticismo, como para escucharlo en una cena con velas :-) ... Read more

It's tempting to compare Mexican crooner Pablo Montero favorably to genre superstar Alejandro Fernandez. Both men have helped bring ranchera music to the masses via deep, rich vocal talents and dark good looks that make many a female--and male--fan swoon. But whereas Fernandez has mastered the art of nuanced, dramatic vocal styling, Montero still has a few things to learn. It's evident on Con la Bendicion de Dios, which effectively blends traditional and modern sounds but is still an overall modest effort. Montero has been paired with first-class talent, including writers Gustavo Santander, Claudia Brant and producer Kike Santander (who helmed Fernandez's A Corazon Abierto). But Montero seems more a label puppet than an artist in his own right. His voice (and the production) does recall Fernande" on tracks "Pasito a Paso," "Cuando Llora el Cortazon" and "Dicen Por Ahi," but there's little sense in settling for an admirable imitation when the real Fernandez's music is so readily accessible.--Joey Guerra ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Have you heard of Javier Solis?
By far nothing comparable to Javier Solis. Not taking anything away from the tenor of OPERA not Ranchera...Lets leave the rancheras for those who are gifted in its style. You want real rancheras listen to MR. Javier Solis.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mediocre
I am a fan of Placido Domingo...the Opera & Zarzuela Singer...not the Ranchera singer, not the Broadway song singer, not the ballad singer. Placido is great at what he does, but his style on most popular is monotonous and he really doesn't bring anything to the table. I whole heartedly recommend Jorge Negrete for hard-core rancheras. Even Vicente Fernandez' performance on "Joyas Rancheras" is a much better recording of this genre.

5-0 out of 5 stars 100 Anos de Mariachi - great music, great voice
Placido Domingo who is known as a world-famous Spanish opera tenor shows his roots on this CD. Growing up in Mexico, he clearly developed a sensitivity for this type of music which coupled with his great voice gives us un-equalled renditons of all-time favorites...

The emphasis is on the music, and with a voice unequalled by
typical interprets, this gives us a must-have CD!

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT ALBUM
If you are not used to listen mexican music or if you don't know it at all then this is for you. Imagine lots of beautiful and super romantic mexican melodies sung by one of the most impressive voices in the world. If you don't know anything about Mexico, you don't know what you are missing. But listening to and enjoying this CD will be such a good starting point. You will find out how mexican men express their love to their women and how mexican people have lots and lots of fun. If you still have doubts ask any person you know and has gone to Mexico and I'm sure he/she will agree with me. I mean, Placido Domingo wouldn't song any kind of music, he carefully selects what he sings. Finally let me tell you that this is only such a microscopic sample of the huge universe of mexican music you can listen to.

5-0 out of 5 stars ¿ no lo has comprado todavia?
This is like Jorge Negrete with modern day production! Domingo's interpretations of classic mariachi music is heartfelt and just plain beautiful! And the insert is very informative, you don't have to be into opera to enjoy this one! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stuff
This is a great collection of songs. Alicia's voice is a pure joy to listen to. The songs scale from romantic ballads to toe-tapping tejano and they all sound great. Alicia adds heart and soul vocal accents to nearly every song.

5-0 out of 5 stars Soy Lo Prohibido Alicia Villarreal
Alicia has really done a fantastic singing job on this album . The band/music behind it is outstanding ! I love it and have played it some nearly everyday for about 2 years and have sent a copy to friends in Canada so they can find out what great music really is ! What a superb voice that wonderful little gal has !!! J D Bedwell

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Disc... you cannot be without him!
I believe that independently that you like Alicia Villarreal or not... this disc is a disc that you cannot let have. It has a shaped feeling that touches feelings more sensible of your interior, when listening songs like "Rompeme, Matame", you will manage to feel that pain that transmits Alicia, intoning the letter of a woman who crys by the love of a man. You will not manage to avoid to feel the knot in the gargante that Alicia transmits skillfully when interpreting "Que seas feliz", as well as nostalgia that arrives deep with "Echame a mi la culpa", that without also telling to the successes "Acompañame" to duo with the Mexican singer Pedro Fernandez, who in the past sang the Spanish "Rocío Durcal" and "Enrique Guzmán", what to say "Te Quedó Grande la Yegua" and "Ladrón". That without telling to be disc to mess orderly of the year by the Magazine "Billboard", and numerous sales anywhere in the world. For that reason and "Soy Lo Prohibido" more... must be in your collection!

1-0 out of 5 stars This material is not worth my money.
I am truly sorry, but Alicia Villareal's voice is so anoying on this album! It sounds FAKE! I do not think she has what it takes to be a true mariachi performer. I wish I could get my money back from this "cd."

5-0 out of 5 stars Heart & Soul
Alicia sings her heart out in this CD. Shes an awesome singer and as you can see she has had a bit of trouble with love. In all her songs its about her love relationship that has ended up in a divorce anybody that has been in love and lost somebody--You will relate! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars why aren't these guys famous?
This, along with Re and Quatro Caminos by Cafe Tacuba, is probably my favorite CD ever. The songs are catchy and full of emotion. They actually have depth to them, both in their music and in their lyrics, which is something most music today desperatly lacks. The only complaint I could make about the album is that its a little mellow, but songs like Me Vas Dejando, one of the best songs I've ever heard - even my mom,who hates everything I listen to, fell in love with the song- liven it up. And of course Ella es Azul, their single, is great too, as is No Quieres Venir. If you like this CD, I would definetly reccomend Quatro Caminos as mentioned above,or anything else by Cafe Tacuba, as well as the Y Tu Mama Tambien sountrack, which is where I first discovered Volovan. The sountrack is a great sampler of some of the best Rock en Espanol bands, a genre over which Volovan reigns supreme in talent. I just can't wait for them to come out with something else. Buy this album - you'll love it, I guarantee.

5-0 out of 5 stars this album sticks in your head like an adhesive substance!
I'm not sure why I love this album, but it is probably my favourite album right now...The melodies are just perfection..."ella es azul" has implanted it's melody deeply into my cerebral cortex and i'm sure every other song on this album will follow suit poste haste, and I will welcome their invansion into my every brain function with wide open arms...it's funny, after four years of high school spanish, i can't manage to translate anything besides "she is blue" nevertheless, i adore this album....the stickiest damn melodies since brian wilson lost his marbles

5-0 out of 5 stars This is what makes it worth!!!
First I have to accept this.....I know those guys so it'll be hard for me to be objective.
But then again these should be good for making a more insightful review. .....

Listen to the record,......is all about love. Not only the love you would get in the lyrics (witch are very good), but the one love playng in the music.

What makes this a nice record is the care and time putted in there, because those songs were write along the history of the band, and go way back to the day they imagined and created a sound never excercised in Mexico. (now part of the movimiento in monterrey). The results was tastefull, with textures and composition equal in concepts to My Bloody Valentine, Belle and Sebastian, Yo La Tengo........you can hear it in the voice of Chálo. Then Porgy and Co. makes the smart moves, listen to the keyborads, bass and guitars they work perfect and go along until they brake and let Chálo fall in love with its clouds.

That's texture, miel pop, and shoegazing in a blender with a straw....

You should know to that all the arangements you'll hear, were worked with the IVY guitarist who produced thise record, so you will here some vintage IVY moves on the songs.

I recomend to buy this piece of genius and try get in a park (the one with lots of kids playng around), play the disk, lay around and look in the sky while been happy and you'll be getting the vibe of this band.

Que viva el movimiento MTY!!
HAPPY FI fan forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars ¡Más!
Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico's Volovan sound nothing like any rock en español you've heard before. Singer/guitarist Chalo Galván's influences are less likely Mana or Juanes than the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Blondie, and Britpop. If that sounds like a delicious combination to you, chances are you'll love this CD. There are 11 tracks, including two instrumentals, and whether you speak Spanish or not (I don't) you'll be humming these tunes in your head for days, beginning with the Strokes en español "Ella Es Azul", continuing with the Brian Wilson en español "Violines", and on to the Cheap Trick en español of "Me Vas Dejando". Galvan's voice is pleasant if a bit on the light side, but the harmonies of his fellow bandmates make up for any potential weakness there. Bassist Alejandro Gulmar is a buoyant talent - whether pounding out a one-note thrash or strumming a sunny countermelody, his sense of esprit keeps these songs afloat. All I can say, boys, is ¡Más!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply incredible
I am not a big fan fan of spanish rock, but I must say I was impressed when I first heard this group. They blend the strokes with the beatles to make an artful masterpiece. It leaves the listener on a beach sipping a cup of wine while the oceans crash in harmony. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Authentic Mexican Rancheras!
If you love the ever popular words of Jose Alfredo Jimenez, than this CD and the accompanying volume 2 are a must-have! His compositions are timeless and it's easy to understand why mainstream pop artists of Latin America continue to record his songs. Simple, honest and powerful words backed by the best Mariachi band in Mexico! Gracias y que siempre Viva Jose Alfredo!

5-0 out of 5 stars Jose ALfredo Jimenez collection
You need Jose Alfredo in your collection get this one and volume 2.

5-0 out of 5 stars Now and forever El Rey
This CD, coupled with Vol.11, makes for the most volume of work ever assembled of the late great composer and singer, Jose Alfredo. This volume, like vol.11 has 50 songs, so if you buy both CD's you get "Las 100 Clasicas." There are many compilations of "greatest hits" but this is without a doubt the best. It has all the familar fare plus alot of rare and more obscure recordings that are lesser known. Some of these gems were previously only on vinyl. What you get here is a variety of rancheras filled with Jose Alfredo's favorite subjects. A tormented soul, Jose Alfredo sings often of loves both lost and won. His songs are autobiographical in nature as he inevitably numbs his pain, both in song and life as he celebrates his victory with "otro tequila" or as he often invokes,"otro vaso de vino." The themes Jose Alfredo writes about include all the usual suspects. The characters are all here, the coward, the brave soul, the bartender and his clients, the chaos that often results, gunfights and fistfights, the women in all forms, wives and lovers, unappreciative, bandidas, lovely and kind, beautiful and senuous, he loved them all, both in real life and in song, querido Mexico with all it's beautiful places, including Mazatlan, Jalisco and Guanajuato to name a few, dogs and their owners, horses and their riders, money and all it's pitfalls, poverty and it's tragedies, sadness and happiness, luck and fate in life and death, God and La Virgen, boxers and other machos, in short if it existed in Jose Alfredo's life he wrote about it. Make no doubt though, his favorite themes were love, women and drinking, no wonder I love this guy! Someone like Jose Alfredo only passes briefly through this cosmos, like a shooting star he was brilliant but short lived. That he was able to create such voluminous work in his 47 years is mind boggling. This volume covers songs from his most active decade, the 60's, with the exception of a few classics from 1972. The mariachi is the world renowned Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, often arranged and directed by the the brilliant Ruben Fuentes. There are so many great songs that it is hard to pick favorites but suffice to say that when Jose Alferdo's disc is playing the "next" button is never touched, I want the full experience. If you are like me, one can never get enough Jose Alfredo so this is perfect, to have 50 songs on one CD(2 discs) is nirvana. If you have alot of these songs already, like I do, don't worry, there are enough "unknown" gems here to make it worth it. Besides it is good to have one in the car and wherever else one stores their favorite CD's. If you are new to Jose Alfredo welcome and enjoy this great CD, if you're an old fan, enjoy revisiting the master. Jose Alfredo sigue siendo El Rey, for all times. Buy this CD for an awesome, historical musical experience to be lived over and over. "El disco es cultura." ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Top-flight anthology of little-known music
An outstanding compilation of a wide variety of popular and regional styles from across Mexico. This set examines both traditional and contemporary music, including a brilliant ska-banda mix by the popular "rock en espanol" band, Cafe Tacuba. Rancheras, corridos, boleros, indie rock and various stylistic fusions are represented, and even a few sones from Veracruz -- one of my favorite musical genres! 5-0 out of 5 stars El Rey!
If the photograph on the cover doesn't convince you that Luis Miguel truly is "the King" of sensuality this cd will. His mezmerizing voice will ease you into candle lit dinners, slow dances and romance, then command you to "feel latin" even if your aren't. . . He'll have you dancing with "a rose between your teeth" swearing that you are!

3-0 out of 5 stars If you Like Nada Es Igual, try Vuelve by Ricky Martin
Nada es igual has to be el mejor CD from Luis since Romance....but he can't come close to the energy that Ricky Martin has on his latest CD Vuelve. Check it out Compa'de!

5-0 out of 5 stars This CD simply stole my heart.
The passion, lyrics, romanticism, voice quality, power ballads just totally blow me away. I wish this CD were available in Karaoke but it is not. This is such a huge CD in magnitude. Big songs with big massive emotions that will sweep you off your feet also. Be bold enough to research what LM is singing about in his songs and You will be enchanted, mesmorized, inspired, lifted up, moved with amorous emotions like I was.

This is definitely one of LM's best CD. Buy it used if you are afraid of paying full price but you won't regret it if you feel emotions at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Luis Miguel CD
A year ago I was in a music store in Ann Arbor and saw this beautiful face on a CD. I put on the head phone and although I only speak poor Spanish fell in love with the clearest and most romantic voice I have ever heard. This CD touches every emotion. It has great ballads and dance music and has the type of songs one could listen to over and over and not get tired of. Luis feels the music he sings, not just sings it! I know of at least two people that I am going to buy this CD for at Christmastime. Buy it; you'll love it; and oh my God, all of those great photos inside of one of the most handsome men alive today!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great songs-great renditions by Vikki Carr -- and a bargain!
30 songs ...-- a bargain! And what songs, what wonderful renditions by Vikki Carr. I especially love the duet with Vicente Fernandez, "Dos Corazones," the spirited "Ni princesa ni esclava," the heart-wrenching "Paloma Negra." Not to mention the gorgeous "Y volvere." If you buy only one Vikki Carr CD in Spanish, this is the one to get. I wish it had liner notes with more information about when these songs were recorded and the musicians/arrangers, etc., involved.

5-0 out of 5 stars One in a million gifted voice
She's one of the few crossover latin female singers that can sing
either in english or spanish without losing her charm and charis-
ma. As demonstrated in this collection of her 30 best songs. She
sang standards like "Por amor", "Hasta que vuelvas", "La nave del
olvido", "Y volvere" that were classic pop latin songs back in the 70's. As well as her hits from the 80's: "Disculpame", "Mala
suerte", "Ni princesa ni esclava" are very treasured in Latin America where she has been an idol for many years. Although some other greats are missing: "El pajaro herido", "Voy a esperar",
"Esta tarde vi llover" from her second spanish album from 1975
"Hoy (Today)". I hope that Vikki will keep entertaining us with her wonderful and unique voice. Viva Vikki Carr!

5-0 out of 5 stars I don't know any Spanish, but I just LOVE this album.
Vikki is a very special lady, who looks beautiful and sings like an angel. Her voice is powerful, yet she knows how to use it correctly, without overpowering you. As many other reviewers have said, there is nowhere near enough of her music available, but the best way of encouraging record companies to make more available is to buy what there is.

For many years, I resisted buying music sung in languages I didn't understand, but I now realise just how much I was missing. With a singer as expressive as Vikki, it is still possible to share in the emotional experience of the song, whether it be joy or sadness. I don't always give music my dedicated attention - like many of you, I often play music as background to whatever else I am doing. In such a situation, it doesn't matter what the language is.

Unlike her English language recordings, which contained lots of covers, there are no covers here - at least no obvious ones - but the songs are clearly of a high quality and cover a wide range of tempos and moods.

This is an outstanding bargain - 30 tracks of pure magic. If you like Vikki's English recordings, or if you understand Spanish, you'll enjoy this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sera mejor si fuera en ingles.
Vikki es una cantadora muy especial.

Tambien tengo "The Unforgettable Vikki Carr". Este disco en espanol es mucho mejor por la musica y aparamente, liricos.

Pero no me basta el espanol para apreciarlo.

TR: It would be better if it were in English. Vikki Carr is a very special singer. I also have "The Unforgettable". However, this disk in Spanish is superior both in terms of background music and score as well as lyrics. BUT I am lacking in enough Spanish to really appreciate it.

Try "The Vikki Carr Christmas Album" where she can go both ways without 1960s "Petula Clark" arrangements.

4-0 out of 5 stars An unforgettable experience
I will enjoy these two cds for many years. I liked Vicki's singing in CD #1 because of the obvious joy in her voice and the ritmo. The duet with Ana Gabriel ( I warn you ) tears at my soul. The two duets in CD#2 are also the highlights of this recording that is if you can overlook "Zandunga" which I can't. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely intense and beautiful.
I've been a fan of this woman for quite a few years and she never ceases to amaze me. Very unique, profound, and one of very few artists that can truly sing from the very deep depths of her heart and soul. I love this CD!! Gives you one of those "wow" moments.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm Breathless....
Just bought it, already a classic, But I wonder what Ana is telling us Fans here? Im glad that she's being more open with her lyrics, singing to a women, she seems more comfortable with her inerself. (Jazmin) hummm. Im still getting into the cd, but so far its great. ANA GABRIEL is mexican music.......to co-fans support this album.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ana Gabriel's best album as of yet
With a career that is nearing her 30th year as a singer songwriter, this talented artist has created a masterpiece of "Dulce y Salado", her latest creation. Ana Gabriel and her music are perfectly amalgamated. Recording this album in its entirety in her own recording studio in Mexico City, you can tell the studio is the temple of her artistic creativity and the guitars her companions. With this album Ana Gabriel starts the new millennium with new cumbias by her own pen (Estoy Tan Sola) and (Tengo que esperar) and baladas (her specialty), rendering her intense and powerful voice to such classics as "Pensando en Ti" (Thinking of You) and creating new ones such as "La Reina" (The Queen). In "La Reina" Ana Gabriel has given the female voice a place to counteract with the image of the Mexican macho by Jose Alfredo Jimenez's "El Rey" (The King). In this song Ana Gabriel wants to "send a message to those that feel that men are superior to women, showing that finally its the woman's turn and that machismo leads nowhere." (quoted from anagabrielonline.com) This is truly one of Ana Gabriel's best collection of albums and I'm anxiously awaiting the release of her new album "Tradicional" coming May 2004. Visit Ana Gabriel's homepage www.anagabrielonline.com to learn more about the album and buy it from amazon, its definetely worth it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars TU AMOR A TU DESPRECIO
Marco Antonio Solis is my favoire singer of all time.
I don't speak Spanish, but I have 6 of his cd's
This new cd is wonderful, I love it

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome cd
This is only my second cd from Marco Antonio Solis. The first cd I got was Trozos De Me Alma. His 4th cd is awsome like his third cd but he made it on the radio with like only 1 or 2 songs and then dropped off the radio and I do not know why. The whole cd is awsome. My favoite song on the cd is Se Que Me Va A Dejar. I know you are going to leave me in english. He has a new cd out and my mom heard a song from his new cd but I have not heard anything on the radio so his new cd may not make a splash ethier. I want to bye his 1st cd. His 2nd cd and his 5th cd plus I want to get a greatest hit cd when he was singing with his group. I like the guy. Hes cool. But not as cool as Jerry Rivera. Hes my man. I recommend this cd.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marco and his romantic songs
Eventhough it is different from the Bukis in that he had different rhythms to experiment with, this new cd is still excellent. The lyrics and melodies that made Los Bukis famous are still there. Every song is an excellent song. He could pick any song to be radio-played and it would be a hit. It starts and ends with the best songs in the cd( Cuando te acuerdes de mi and Donde esta mi primavera). My favorite is Boca de Angel. 5 stars cd. I still would like another Buki album or a reunion of some sort.

5-0 out of 5 stars More Marco - superb
Expecting Marco Antonio Solis to improve on his megahit "Trozos de mi alma" would be somewhat akin to waiting for Prince to top "Purple Rain." Probably won't happen. So he does next best--gives his listeners more of what they loved in "Trozos . ." Solis' gentle delivery seems lightyears away from his Los Bukis days, and the public, at least here in Mexico, is absorbing it with gusto. "Boca de Angel" and "Mujeres Solitas" are every bit as compelling as the two REALLY big hits on "Trozos . ."--"Si no te hubieras ido" and "Sigue sin mi." The album seems to tell a story, and the lyrics are written on an attractive insert, good news for those of us who are more used to the clarity of Juan Gabriel's Spanish.

2-0 out of 5 stars You're too young to sound like this, Marco.
Solis remains as formidable a lyricist as ever, but remember when he was more than that? Before, he could be counted on to inject some musical drama, some bombast, some spice. That's what made songs like "Si Me Recuerdas," "Acepto Mi Derrota," and "Morenita" classics. Now all we get are musically indistinguishable ballads with intrusive, ever-present strings. My suggestion: Solis should try a Bernie Taupin/Elton John-type project where he does the lyrics and leaves the melody in the hands of someone with a totally different perspective, like Julieta Venegas. It would certainly produce something more interesting than the geriatric sounding easy-listening he's putting out now. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT CD
The CD was great. I remember hearing MOENIA on a radio station in northern California and loving their music. I went out and bought one of their CD's. I didn't quite love it, and the song I had heard on the radio wasn't on this CD, but I enjoyed it anyway. Well, it turned out that the song I wanted is actually on this particular CD and I didn't just like Moenia, I loved Juan Carlos' voice and his music. Unfortunately, he isn't w/ Moenia anymore, but now I have the CD when he was with them. And fortunately he's not depriving us of his fantastic vocal cords. I strongly recommend this CD if you do like Moenia or their style of music. I'm positive you won't be disappointed. IN MY OPINION, this is Moenia's best CD. (No offense to Alfonso! He's good too!)

4-0 out of 5 stars Arriba!
I checked these guys out after reading some of the reviews. Moenia is definitely a cool band. They throw down some great synth fused dance music. Production is top notch, as are the mix and beats. The vocals are choice here and the lyrics too. All the songs are decent. Even if you don't speak Spanish, the groove will move! Also look for OBK, another similar act>>>

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!
If you like Depeche Mode circa 1980's then this Mexican group is definately for you!!! Excellent...cannot rave enough about it!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars moeniafan
i was just writing to let people know that this isnt moenia's first cd, their first cd came out in 1992, i like their first album better, although color melancolia was on their first album i liked their sound better back then when alfonso, juan carlos, and jorge were in the group.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful.
This is Moenias 1st album, and sounds different from their latest works, ("adicion" and "le modulor"). The music is extremely atmospheric and catchy. My personal fave is "contigo estaré", which has an unforgettable rythem and nice lyrics. This is techno pop, and this is the first album that started a recent semi trend of latin american technopop bands. The difference between this album and "adicion" is not only the change of singers, but also the music on this one is overall more mellow and does not have as much guitar as the latters. Give it a try for sure, it is a masterpiece. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not original recordings - terrible sound quality
Contains the songs we were looking for, even though there are not the original recordings (which we would greatly preffer)it is O'k; but the recording quality is poor at best, very unpleasant to listen.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sehr Gut
Versendung+Verpackung, sehr gut, Zeit könnte kurzer sein. Music-Qualität gut, Weiter so u. besser werden :-).

1-0 out of 5 stars Haga una mejor inversión.
