5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful album
I don't usually buy live recordings because sometimes the sound quality is not good but being a big fan of Vicente and Alejandro Fernandez , I just have to have this and I was very surprised at the excellent sound quality. I love the song selection including some great duets like " Perdon ". Also is a very touching " Cuando yo queria ser grande ", sung by Alejandro and dedicated to his father. I love this CD and listen to it all the time, a wonderful compilation of the greatest hits of Alejandro and Vicente Fernandez. I wish it is available on DVD.

2-0 out of 5 stars una decepción

5-0 out of 5 stars fabulous voices, great show
This exuberant collection of concert recordings is a robust fiesta, with a lot of love shared between these two Mexican icons and their audience, and it is also historical, capturing for perhaps the last time father and son, El Gran Garañon y El Potrillo, who have been on tour together for about two years.
Their powerful voices are marvelous separate or together, as they share equal time singing their solo hits, and join up for 4 duets, from "Amor de los Dos", which was Alejandro's first recording when he was 19, and started him out on a singing career, to the spectacular "Perdon", with a soaring interpretation of this gorgeous melody by these perfectly blended voices. Other memorable highlights are "Cuando Yo Queria Ser Grande", sung movingly by Alejandro to his father, and a long, slightly modernized version of the exquisite "Como Quien Pierde una Estrella", which was a big hit for Alejandro in 1995. Vicente has many shining moments, like "Me Voy a Quitar de en Medio", and he really knows how to work the crowd, who respond to him with wild appreciation.

I personally don't care for the overall sound quality, which suffers sometimes from the same complaint I had seeing them live at the Universal Amphitheater, where the over-amplification was deafening, and caused a lack of clarity; nevertheless, one must make allowances for live recordings, and for fans of Vicente and Alejandro, this set is a must, to join with the audience with a big cheer. The foldout insert has little more than a song list, and total time for disc # 1 is 46'27, and disc # 2, 63'46.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Powerful Stuff...
The first thing anyone will notice about this live concert c.d. is that Alejandro and Vicente sound impressive live just as they do on their studio albums ! With most "live" concert recordings the artist's vocals get lost in the background or mix which is what deters most people from purchasing concert performances on c.d. Most of the times the performance by the artist is hampered by the sound of the crowd and the band or instrumentation ! So, what can account for such an excellent recording (besides the mastering or mixing of the recording)? The sheer fact that Alejandro and Vicente are without a doubt two of Mexico's most powerful male vocalists...Alejandro's voice is unique from his father's in that he posesses that deep baritone and emotive voice. While, Vicente has his own unique style as well...As for the songs on the 2 disc set, they are each incredible, full of life and vitality about the ups and downs of love, life, and anything in between ! This is a 2 disc set that is definitely worth owning and will give your stereo system a thorough workout !

5-0 out of 5 stars Dynamic Duo!!!
Alejandro & Vicente Take To The Stage For A Glorious & Magical Concert!!! Two Cds Full Of Beautiful Songs Sung By Two Gorgeous Voices!!! Listen To The Crowd...These Men Are STARS!!! From the accordion polkas of the Texas border to the dazzling harp of the Veracruz region, there's a huge range of folk music styles in Mexico. But this double-CD box is primarily aimed at lovers of mariachi who just can't get enough of the precision horn parts, swaying unison violins, and wildly joyful marimba. The unnamed ensemble on disc 1 brings impressive chops and unbridled enthusiasm that sweeps freshness even into standards like "La Cucaracha," "The Mexican Hat Dance" (disguised here as "El Jarabe Tapatio"), and the ditty that's become the American ballpark warhorse, "Las Chiapanecas" (you won't fail to recognize the middle section). Disc 2 adds a romantic bent with yearning Latin vocals and, of all things, an electronic keyboard that does little to detract from the nostalgic atmosphere. For a rootsy, rough-and-tumble version of mariachi, treat yourself to the CD Sones from Jalisco by Mariachi Reyes del Aserradero. --Bob Tarte ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars The Best From Mexico
It is worthless. Its mexican orchistrated music, which means it is not so hot.

3-0 out of 5 stars All that you'd expect
This CD is most of the music you'd hear from any decent mariachi band or a soundtrack for a Mexican restaurant. Not terribly inventive or daring and on some tracks the production values are subpar. Overall, however, it's a fine introduction to traditional Mexican music and like any compilation, may very well lead the listener down the road to experiencing new artists.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Mexican Party CD
I do love a theme party...and this is the perfect compliment to a Mexican dinner party. Reasonably priced -- 2 CDs. The music really sets the tone for fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mexican Dream
The title of this CD already explains the feeling, "All The Best From Mexico". It is the ultimo CD for a hot summer night, when you enjoying a nice cold drink and feeling the late night heat. If you close your eyes and listen to these sounds you can dream off to one of the beautiful places in old Mexico . Because there are two CD's included you are able to listen to two hours of these traditional Mexican sounds. Enjoy the feeling! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best of the best
If you know good music, then this CD is a must for your collection. I have followed mariachi music since childhood and over the years have come to appreciate the finer things in life. I have to tell you Mariachi Cobres interpretation of the son de mariachi is simply the best. Great vocals, great music, great listening.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Ever
This is the best mariachi CD ever. It is the first CD of Mariachi Cobre and represents the best representation of mexican folk music. The quality of voice and music is second to none; strong, vibrant and rich. It was my first mariachi CD and after 15 years of collecting is still the best. A must-have for the mariaci afficionado.

5-0 out of 5 stars THEY'RE MY REASON FOR PLAYING!!!
About five years ago I heard my first mariachi album. This was it and the richness of this groups sound overwhelmed me. They must be considered the best in th U.S. They filled me with so much pride that I actually began playing mariachi and aspire to maybe one day join the ranks of such superior talent. Cobre will not let you down. Wether its your first or hundreth mariachi cd, you will find nothin but satisfaction from this cd.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Like They Sound Live
If you have been to the Mexican pavilleon in Epcot center, you might have caught this very talented group performing there. I did and was impressed enough to buy their CD. I think the CD is wonderful. If it sounds polished it is because the group actually sounds that polished live. This is no sad sacked trio annoying you at your table in a mexican eatery, this is a serious group who are obviously trying to uphold a proud tradition of Mexican folkloric music. I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants something fun and different, and I would urge anyone who goes to Epcot center to see this group perform live.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too Polished and Over Produced
I love mariachi music but was looking for something simple, emotional, and earthy. The vocals and instrumentals were excellent on this CD, but they have no feeling or emotion. I was looking for a modern version of Jose Alfredo Jimenez or Vicente Fernandez, instead this CD sounds more like a symphony. I prefer the street musicians to this kind of synthetic, over produced mariachi music. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars If you lived your teen year in mexico in the 80's
If you were a teenager living in Mexico way back in the 80's you surely know what Timbiriche means. It means your first love, your first time to a disco, Acapulco dancing all night and of course the latest fashion. I must admit that they're not precisely "master musicians" but their songs are catchy and danceable, so if you're into the 80's nostalgia mood..this is your choice. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Que puedo decir acerca de este album ?

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Great Review
Just wanted to add to the already wonderful reviews. Like another reviewer, I don't speak any Spanish (although my basic Italian gives me a slight clue as to the gist of the songs) - but this is great music. It is beautifully orchestrated, soothing; Luis Miguel has a great voice. The songs are so singable that I am continuously trying to sing along phonetically. I never get tired of this CD, I can play it over and over.

5-0 out of 5 stars LUIS-ROMANCE, ROMANCE, ROMANTIC
Though I speak no Spanish, this album is a must for those who wish to surround themselves with soft, lush romantic music. Laying poolside, sipping Margaritas, soaking up the sun and dreaming of a romantic encounter all are enhanced by this album. Peppered with some lively songs just to keep you from forgetting where you really are!

5-0 out of 5 stars 2nd Grammy
A bit of pop, some R & B and a little jazz are all complimented by the perfect voice of Luis Miguel culminating into his 2nd Grammy for Best Latin Pop. Inolvidable!

5-0 out of 5 stars An overlooked CD
This CD is great. Contains some songs that I hadn't heard before and that are not super popular but are definately signature Luis Miguel. Upbeat music to have in the background at all times. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a polished jewel
This is the 1st in the "Romances" series and is a fabulous, lush CD that shouldn't be missed. The arrangements by Bebu Silvetti are incredible...the crisp rhythm sections of "Inolvidable" and "Mucho Corazon", the smoothness of "La Barca" and "Contigo en la Distancia"...and Luis Miguel sings every song magnificently.

Armando Manzanero's "Te Extraño" is sublime. It will make you weep for a lost love or one that has yet to arrive...It's truly one of the most moving, beautiful songs I've ever heard. It reaches that rare level called perfection. "Te extraño/ cuando camino, cuando lloro, cuando rio/ cuando el sol brilla, cuando hace mucho frío/ porque te siento como algo muy mío".

The booklet is minimal. It does contain lyrics (though not order of play) and the total running time is 44:12. This also comes as part of a 3 disc set, "Todos los Romances". Though maybe not as extraordinary as the 3rd in the series, "Romances", which I would place top 10 in any CD collection, it comes pretty close, and if only for "Te Extraño", this one is a must to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars The first and very best of his "Romance" series.
I first discovered Luis Miguel with his breakthrough 1990 release titled "20 Años" when I visited Mexico while on vacation and I can't believe that I still play that release so frequently so many years later. It's simply pop at its best so shortly thereafter, I decided to give his first stab at Latin American standards a try and all I can say is "WOW." Luis Miguel brought a totally new the passion to timeless masterpieces and managed to make them as if they had been written exclusively for him. His amazing voice is elegantly complemented by the lush instrumentation that quickly made it one of my favorites. Songs like 'No Me Platiques Mas," "Involvidable," La Puerta," "La Barca," "Usted" and many others make this one of many favorite releases and easily earns 5 stars. He subsequently released others in this genre, while all very good, none compare to this amazing collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars HANDS DOWN... THE BEST LATIN ALBUM EVER RECORDED
I'm not the biggest Luis Miguel fan, but I have to admit he is along with Marc Anthony, they are the greatest latin voices of our time.
This is one of those albums that you listen once, and you won't stop listening to it over and over again for months (or perhaps years).
The secret of the success of this album?... a combination of creativity and talent. Behind of Luis Miguel's powerful and soothing voice, there's a team of music masters who are mainly responsible for this fabulous creation.

The very essence of this album is re-creating some of latin music's finest and most beloved bolero classics of all time.
'El Maestro' Armando Manzanero did a great job in terms of production, along with contributing with some of his own classics chosen for this album.
Bebu Silvetti gave and outstanding contribution with the orchestral arrangements for this masterpiece, which capture the very essence of the melodies of these songs and take them to a whole new level.

I have absolutely no doubts about it... THIS IS THE BEST LATIN ALBUM EVER RECORDED, AND I DOUBT THERE WILL EVER BE ANOTHER ONE BETTER.

5-0 out of 5 stars a jewel to make love to......
This album is wonderful! I heard the song, "No Se Tu", on the Speechless movie, and HAD to find it! I don't normally buy Spanish albums, but this? This was one you HAVE to have!!!
And YES! MUCHO love has been made to these songs............

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this album
This qalbum is truly a master piece. All the tracks are wonderful and the sounds are so relaxing and pleasing that you'll fall in love with this album from the first time you listen to it. Marco's soft voice and the way he sings the songs with such passion, really make you get into his music and take you to a place of comfortness and lovelyness. I can't say anything bad about this album because there really isn't any flaw in it. From the first track to the last one, this album guides you in such a way that is incredible. This artist makes you think about love and about things in life that you really only see in movies. You can tell that Marco Antonio writes his lyrics with a deep meaning that comes from the heart. This Album is only one of many that he has made that touch you and make your love stronger. I love music and specially the knid of music that I can listen to and relax and this album does that and then some. I highly recommend this album, even if you don't understand spanish. Just by listening to the sounds, specially the Violins, you can appreciate the album. This is truly one Latino artist, who should be topping all kinds of charts. Forget Ricky Martin, Ricky has nothing compared to Marco Antonio Solis. This is what real music is all about. Thanks a lot Marco for being so gifted and sharing your thoughts and feeling with us.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ay ay ay!
If you can understand Spanish: load the album on your iPod, lay down on the couch with good headphones, get taken away into a sweet sad world, and be in tears by track 5.

If you don't understand Spanish, I'm sure you'll still appreciate the sounds (and, if you're female and/or so inclined, the photos of Marco), and maybe you'll get inspired to learn some Spanish so you can enjoy the poeticism of the lyrics! ;-)

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!!...
My family may not agree. My bestfriend died January 31, 1998 and at her funeral I played this CD. Since then I have adopted her three children (including mine that makes 6 children.) I love my family and every time I hear this CD I remember how beautiful my friend was. Thank you, Marco.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great and Peculiar Production...
Alejandro Fernandez has said many times that he is always looking for "new sounds". We can see this on his musical productions, from "Muy Dentro De Mi Corazon" (mariachi/traditional) to "Me Estoy Enamorando" (boleros) to "Mi Verdad"(mariachi/traditional) to "Entre Tus Brazos" (pop), and finally "Origenes". The CD starts of with the nice sounding single "Tantina Pena" which heavily borrows flamenco sounds and rythms. The very talented poet/composer Fato made excellent contributions with the beautiful "Si Tu No Vuelves" and the inspiring "Duerme Tranquila" which adds that romantic-pop flavor to "Origenes". Beautiful lyrics coupled with rythm is savored with "Amor De Luna" and while a very poetic and sentimental "Come Pez En El Agua" adds a gracious touch to this production. The more traditional Mexican sounds are also found in the contributions made by the talented composer that is Manuel Monterrosas with "Ay Amor", the highly-rythmic and beautifully composed "Donde Vas Tan Sola" and "Tu Regresaras". Another welcomed contribution is by Roberto Cantoral with "Jamas Te Vi Tan Linda", which is truly an inspiring piece.

Overall, this musical production is a gem and quite peculiar. With different sounds and great musical interpretation by Alejandro, it is a definite addition to any music lover.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!
Alejandro Fernandez is clearly one of the great romantic singers of his generation and this CD is a fabulous example of the modern fusion of ranchera with flamenco, jazz, and even Native American music. I must have heard "Tantita Pena" over a hundred times and I can't get tired of it. When I first heard it the flamenco guitar strains made me sit up and take notice as much as his voice did. The music video of this is on a DVD called "La Trayectoria" (see my review of that) and it is an amazing production.

"Pajaro Perdido", "Donde vas tan sola?", and "Ay, Amor!" are also musically interesting with beautiful lyrics. Anyone who hasn't investigated Latin music recently should probably start with this CD, which will create a very serious appetite for more. Lyrics included, along with some good photos.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lo mas suave que nunca!
I fell into purchasing this disc by listening to a Spanish radio station that was giving Tantita Pena a lot of air time. Like most everyone I kinda cringed, hoping I wasn't being suckered into buying another crummy album for one song.
Let me tell you, this entire album is pure dynamite! From the first song to the last (Las Mananitas, hidden on track 30) every track is first rate. The melodies are each unique and the care in production and delivery is patently obvious.
The origen of each song speaks volumes and who better to deliver the message with power and sincerity but Alejandro!
I would highly recommend Origenes, consider it an investment in fine music.

5-0 out of 5 stars heheh
I don't even speak spanish and I like the vocals. Damn these foriegn singers have more skillz than britney spears, N'stink and gaystreet boys.

Where have all great american singers gone to? Stop the bubble gum insanity.

3-0 out of 5 stars Alejandro Fernandez without Pedro Ramirez
You have his old albums? Wondered how he might sound if the songs he records are arranged by other people other than his father's team of writers, producers, and arrangers?
Well, this is what this cd is. One interesting arrenger on this cd , which I think is one of the best in the genre, is Eduardo Maguellanes. His arrangements are very beautiful yet I don't think Alejandro's voice fitted up to the arrangement. Other arrangements are done by Kiko Campos who is more of a pop arranger. Nevertheless, he did a good job in this cd.
THere is also an extra hidden track : Las Mañanitas. I think it is very bad. For some reason it leads me to be believe he tried to secularize the traditional song by taking out parts that include San Pedro and San Juan. If you get bothered by the original version because of that then get this version.
I don't know why this cd is called Origenes because the songs are not anything related to that word. ONe high note and praise is the arrangements in the cd which some are very new to mariachi. THis is not a ranchera cd. It is more like pop-balada ranchera which suits Alejandro Fernandez right.
I have seen him perform when he started with his father and once in Teatro Blanquita. Back then I saw promise but by now , if he cared, he should be at least some kind of tenor. His image does seem to have gotten better. 3 stars because of the beautiful arrangements. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bland beyond belief
I have no idea just what is up with Alicia, but her last solo album was horrificly bland, as was Limite's last album. She needs to ditch her agent and find some talented people to work with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Multifacetic woman in Latin music and culture
CUANDO EL CORAZON SE CRUZA album shows another succesful triumph for this beautiful "Regiomontana" (a person from Monterrey, Nuevo León, México) that knows how to entertain and give back to his fans the latin music melodies and culture that we like. This CD contains Ranchera, Cumbia, Balada, Pop and an extend variety of music styles that Alicia knows how to perform at the perfection. Her blessed voice and rhythms brings joy and many laughs to the audience that enjoy dancing and listening latin music. Her contribution to our culture is priceless. This is another "must have" art masterpiece of Ms. Villareal! ... Read more

A bevy of high-profile guests pops up on Amor, Familia y Respeto --Sheila E., Chris Perez, Nu Flavor, Fito Olivares, eventalk-show host Cristina--but A.B. Quintanilla y los KumbiaKings remain front and center on their inspired debut album. Much like he didwith his late sister Selena, Quintanilla fuses the traditional cumbia soundwith reggae, rap, rock, and dance music on songs such as "Azúcar,""Fuiste Mala," and "Reggae Kumbia," turning the Tejano sound on its head. Thegroup also dabbles in old-school R&B on "Together," featuring vocals by thelate Roger Troutman, and"U Don't Love Me," a silky crossover-hit ballad. Amor, Familia y Respetoalso features "Oh No," a sweet cumbia cowritten by Selena that she never had thechance to record, but which her brother included here as a tribute. --JoeyGuerra

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Cumbia
This is one of my favorit CD's. My Bestfriend doesn't speek spanish but she loves this CD, it is a very dancible and upbeat CD. it has taken classic cumbia and made it more modern for the newer generation of listiners but it also interests older classic cumbia lovers too! this CD shows the changes SELENA was doing with her own music. A.B. has a great talent for writing and i can't wait for his next CD. He has taken the style he and Selena created and if she were still here she would ahve changed the style even more like this CD. this is a wonderfull CD,even though it is mostly in spanish I feel that it has potential in the english market, it is latin but not so that it can not be enjoyed in the anglo market. ...
