5-0 out of 5 stars The beginning
My first exposure to drum n' bass came in 1995 and 96 by way of Goldie, 4hero, and LTJ Bukem. I was immediately into the sound, something about the complexity of the breaks, the dubby basslines, and the otherworldly atmosphere...it was to me...the revolution. The music was great, however, I was unaware of it's capabilities until a friend in college who I traded music with stumbled across the Cujo album and introduced it to me in 1997. My world had changed. I had never heard anything this intricate, I thought Miles and Hancock were the last to know how deep music could go. It gave me a new hope for my generation. A few months later I brought Bricolage and the love affair grew into an obsession. I remember riding the subway playing it so loud in my headphones that a guy stopped me and asked me what I was listening to, it sounded so interesting to him. After the release of Permutation, other people seemed to become aware of Amon Tobin and his greatness, even more so after Supermodified. All of a sudden I knew several people who were dedicated fans. I started to become jealous, halfway happy that Amon Tobin was gaining the respect he deserved, but jealous that his music was being molested by untrained ears. I wished for the days when I would play it and feel like I was one of the few in New York who had it, it was just me and Amon Tobin...and the most incredible music I'd ever heard.

5-0 out of 5 stars a jungle playground
I just recently bought my copy of Adventures in Foam after finding out Cujo is actually Amon Tobin. I've been a longtime fan of the three albums AT put out under his own name and was reeling when I find out about this little beauty. I must say that I am glad to have cut my teeth on Amon's releases before listening to Cujo. I appreciate the stylistic growth from Bricolage to Supermodified. Adventures In Foam is Tobin's more playful electronic persona (evidenced by the silly album cover art.) From the free form opening to the slinky 'Cat People' through a dissonant closing following 'Cruzer,' this album is all about desterilizing D'n'B. I think this release has a slightly more forboding feel than Permutation and Supermodified, and perhaps even Bricolage. Favorite moment of the album is the first 20-odd seconds of 'Cruzer,' a stunning piano trill sample (that reminds me of strolling melancholy through NYC city streets at 4am) that falls into a bumping drum and bass break with odd samples dispersed throughout. I think Amon Tobin can do no wrong and as it turns out, his earliest effort is on both feet, skipping to a sound all his own.

5-0 out of 5 stars crazy crazy good
I usually skip to track three to start this album off. "The Light" is just a beautiful song. Tobin mixes together jazz and drum&bass like no one else can and was on the very top of his game here. This was THE record for me to get high to until I quit smoking. And it still holds up. Like Boards of Canada say, the music should be the drug. This was released in the US in a screwed-up form; look for the Ninja Tune rerelease and everything should be okay, okay? Now run along to school...

5-0 out of 5 stars "FAT @$$ JOINT" FROM CUJO!!!
I swear Amon Tobin...Cujo...or whatever his name is, is not of this world! After getting "Adventures in Foam" and listening to the whole thing non-stop (I usually skip through a CD if it's garbage!), I realized that these songs couldn't've be produced by any human being. I say that in jest, of course, but Cujo-Tobin has taken a dying genre (that being D&B, jungle or whatever it's called) and turned it into something a helluva lot more interesting and tolerable to the ear. Cujo still utilizes his trademark jazz samples, sporadic drum tracks and other foreign oddities from God knows where, only on "Adventures in Foam" his beats are more steady and less jittery than those heard on his other releases. Definitely a good thing being that he's performing under a nom de guerre for the Shadow record label. "Adventures in Foam" displays a more playful side of Tobin, than the dark, eerie, ominous tones of his other brilliant works. It truly shows that even as Cujo he has what it takes to deliver some damn good music. If you aren't impressed with Tobin's other stuff (shame on you!!), you'll definitely love "Adventures in Foam", if only for the extraordinary production value.

5-0 out of 5 stars Audiotourist by Freeform is also super good.
It's no huge secret that Cujo is a pseudonym of Brazilian avant-jazz electronic salsa kind Amon Tobin, who usually releases utterly fantastic albums on the Ninja Tune label. Normally Ninja Tune puts out fairly substandard albums, but Amon Tobin is fricken awesome. Permutations is one of the best records ever composed.

This album isn't too different from anything he's released under Amon Tobin, it's just on a different label. I think if you like Tobin then you might as well buy this album.

But, for argument's sake, Is it as good an album as Squarepusher's Go Plastic? No, it is not. Is it as good as Freeform's newest Audiotourist? Almost!

But, as a friend of mine said, hope for one good moment per dollar (Two good moments if you're a Canadian, 2000 if you're Mexican). And does Cujo supply these moments. You betcha, you nutty shopper! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Trip Hop
Out of all of Nightmares on the Wax CDs this has to be the best!!! It screams trip hop with the trippy sounds effects and awesome mixes. It totally surpases DJ Kicks and Caboot Soul. Even compared to other trip hop groups like Kruder and Dorfmiester or Massive Attack, Smokers' Delight ranks top in its category. Ever since I have heard this CD, I have bought it and shown it to my friends- after that everyone ran out to buy their own copy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sick of the radio?
Here's your album. Shut off that blasted FM and their inane lyrics and get down low with Nightmares on Wax. Everyone from your mom to friends will like this CD - at least, that's what happened in my case.

The smooth rhythms and beats will hit someone who hasn't heard trip-hop (sorry G. Evelyn) /acid jazzy stuff before with a big fist to the ear. Listening to the samples here on amazon may be okay, but to really get the experience you have to get the album and listen to it completely uninterrupted - once you do, you'll want to do it again, and again, and one more time. It's anytime music, good for doing homework to, washing dishes, or just relaxin'. Absolutely wonderful, I hope more people discover this sort of music.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
Unboubtedly one of my favorite albums of all time. This album is
the most influential in my collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Delight for Smokers and Non-Smokers Alike
I am a goddess...at least I was proclaimed to be one by the sales clerk at the record store where i bought this CD--without listening to it first!!(Actually it was my third copy...my backup was "borrowed" by a friend who neglected to return it)

I absolutely love this Disc...its one of the few on which i skip no tracks at all, even though track 3 makes me wish i were a pothead so i could enjoy it even more. standout work by G.Evelyn, Firth and collaborators. Standout Tracks include: Nights Interlude (check out the revamp on Carboot Soul as "les nuits"), Dredd Overboard, Pipes Honour, Stars, Cruise, Mission Venice, Rise (and its subsequent reprise) and Gambia via Vagator Beach (excellent percussion).

If you love music, and I don't mean mainstream pop/rock, but contemplative, intellingent, and mind-bending music, you will adore this cd. I have two copies. One for whatever happens to be my cd player at the time, and one stored in my handbag for emergencies. You will not regret buying this CD.

3-0 out of 5 stars christmas ooze
Listening to earstroking records like this one helps me put things in perspective again afer a hard days work. Dealing headshots on UT while bouncing my head to Nights Interlude is what I think the best way to get ready for five hours of massive sleep. 5-0 out of 5 stars The start of something great
The impetus for this first album by Viennese duo Kruder & Dorfmeister was their uncanny resemblance to Simon & Garfunkle and their desire to recreate this album cover (From S&G's classic, "Bookends") Luckily, their collaboration extended beyond this visual pun.

This album gives just a taste (with only four tracks included) of what K&D would eventually do and the influence they would have on down-tempo music, globally.
It has a very sophisticated, organic jazz sound to it and is an album that has found it's place in my permanent music collection (right beside Simon & Garfunkle).

Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am only reviewing this in complete disbelief
I saw that the average of the other reviews brought this CD 4 out of 5 stars. Shocking. Bizarre. Completely unbelivable. The cover may look strikingly like Simon and Garfunkel, leading some folks of dubious taste or vision to have accidentally reviewed the wrong album. That's about the only thing I can think of that could explain anything less than 5+ stars.

I have two kittens. Their names are Kruder and Dorfmeister. This CD is the reason why. It is the single best CD I have ever heard in my life.

If you happen to own the "Hackers" soundtrack, the Original Bedroom Rockers track is from this CD. Give it a listen -- or about 2,000 listens. You'll be able to. Very easily. Downbeat, mellow, slow and hypnotic electronica-flavored acid jazz that I have neer seen a woman listen to twice without beginning to undress by the second track.

That, I believe, should give you some small insight to the power of this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars everything they do is five stars
I love unique downtempo. KD are consisten winners.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Great
This album is so fine. It's just very chill and every loop feels like it's placed just right.

5-0 out of 5 stars an apertif mixed by the best
This disc has only 25 minutes of music on it, but if you like Kruder Dorfmeister, you'll love it. The tracks segue smoothly together, and are delightful listening for quiet afternoons at home or on headphones in the metro. It's less heavy-hitting than their reknowned K+D sessions. As with most of their stuff, this cd will hold your interest through repeated listenings. ... Read more

Pre-Millennium Tension picks up where the first album Maxinquaye left off, but this CD fulfills the promise of Tricky's unbounded spontaneity and fondness for sonic digression. Abandoning the accessible pop of Maxinquaye, Pre-Millennium Tension serves up a beguiling array of sound effects, electro distortion and fragmented lyrics that amount to a rich--if bizarre-musical montage. As suggested by its title, this disc zeros in on a kind of end-of-the-millennium disruption of classifiable sound. With its cross-pollination of hip-hop, cabaret balladry, background textures, and disjointed arrangements, Pre-Millennium Tension takes a peek at the future of pop music and declares it will be nothing like we expect. --Nick Heil ... 2-0 out of 5 stars How can THIS be one of the best albums of the 90's???
Let's get one thing straight - "Hell is Around the Corner" RULES.

OK. Now that this is settled, it is safe for me to say that nothig on this album is even close to as powerful, haunting, or even likeable as that song. I am a HUGE alternative, trip-hop, and elektronica fan - but this album just isn't that great. TRUST ME. The only song that I listen to is "Vent". That song is pretty cool because it has interesting industrial beats and doesn't have too much rapping (which is what I don't like about Tricky) in it. Anyhow, too many of the songs just aren't interesting enough to hear several times. Check out "Maxinquaye". There are many great catchy songs on it. I still have faith in the greatest trip-hop group ever - PORTISHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars You people anger me
The people who have given this album a bad review say they don't like it because it doesn't sound like Maxinquaye. Should Tricky be like AC/DC, and release the same album over and over? Any true fan of eclectic music (which, by definition, trip-hop and all it's subcategories is) would appreciate this album for what it is: something new, something different. In a world where crap like Matchbox 20 is labeled "alternative," Tricky stands alone as a true "alternative" voice in rock music. This is the album where he really cut loose, getting over the Massive Attack-wannabe sound of Maxinquaye, deciding to do music that was a little more polished than those tracks on Nearly God, a little less hip-hop than those on Grassroots, and instead started doing music that sounds like nothing else. Christiansands is still my favorite Tricky song ever (save for this one he does live but hasn't released yet, which we've taken to calling "Movies Don't Move Me"), and the first 5 songs on here are sheer genius. I'll admit that some of the songs aren't very listenable, ie My Evil Is Strong, but all in all this album is purely amazing. I think his most recent, Juxtapose, is better overall, but Pre-MT has some better stand-alone songs, like Christiansands, Tricky Kid, Makes me wanna die, and Vent. Bad Things is cool, too, once you get into it. And to my friend below, that's not even Tricky singing on Ghetto Youth, it's some Jamaican guy that was hanging out in front of Tricky's studio, and Tricky had him come in and sing over the music. Why? Go ask Tricky, I don't know. God bless you all! Your opinions are important, even if they're the wrong ones!

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!!
This CD confirms for me that the 90s was probably the greatest decade for music in terms of freshness, creativity and inventivness. The triphop scene especially. Dark demonic trippy rythmes and beats coupled with soft creamy singing against raspy grainy vocals which sound like he's been gargling gravel. Although I have to say I think Trick blew his load on this CD. Nothing he did after quite matched up. Thsi is a gem and should be in your collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Underated if unpolished gem
I think this is one of Tricky's better albums but is usually snubbed when i mention it to people. This is probably his darkest and most intense work, making it all the more endearing for being so.His signature incoherant, lispy grumblings are present - and stand out on the tracks Tricky Kid and Sex Drive. The earlier tracks are a lot funkier than the last few which could have been trimmed off without loss.Still i am happy to have it in my collection and do still play it on occassions though not at my Grandma's birthday party.

4-0 out of 5 stars There's Something About This album
I don't know what it is. I can't quite explain it. Every time I listen to PMT though I feel it. The songs are like a vaccum, they move through you and fill you with a void. It's the only album in my collection that presents a sort of hollow apathy towards the world as if it sees everything in some sort of half-sleep state where you'd only partially understand the world as you normally would.

I think this is Tricky's most important album, and the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because you can't listen to it whenever you want to. The music is very abstract, and the voices and lyrics are usually garbled or spoken in a seemingly disjointed manner that doesn't really follow any clear method. Thoughts and analysis ruin the album, and you have to listen to the voices and not the words being spoken. If you listen to it around lunch-time when you're wide-eyed awake and dilligently pursuing some errand in your day, you'll be thinking and moving too fast to get this. The moon and stars have to be around when you hear this, and even then you have to be in a certain state of mind; you basically have to be in a mental place where you don't particularly care about anything. Then, this album comes alive and engulfs your brain like cold black tar. It flows over you and through you, like some faceless phantom.

It's hard to explain, this is a truly unique album. Despite how many times you listen to it or try to get into it, you'll never appreciate it until you hear it under the right circumstances. ... Read more

Following a tide of critical acclaim and numerous appearances on every other chill-out compilation since records began, Groove Armada's Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) has an awful lot to live up to. Vertigo, released in February 2000, was a phenomenal success, critically and commercially, spawning hits like "If Everybody Looked the Same" and the sun-drenched "At the River." Having found their niche in downbeat, Groove Armada explore the style even further on Country. The opening track, "Suntoucher," is a slow-burning dub plate, featuring Jeru The Damaja, which breaks out a supercool horn riff midway through. It's a fantastic start to the album, but it does begin to feel a little long as the song unspools. Even the slightly more uptempo numbers, like first single "Superstylin'" and "Fogma," don't rush into anything, building slowly before the bass hook and drums kick in with a lukewarm impact. Goodbye Country is another musical triumph for Groove Armada, with every track as good as the one before. Still, it's a shame they veer so strongly in a downbeat direction, as they mostly leave behind the quirky house style that helped distinguish their earlier work. --David Trueman ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Armada of talent
Probably one of the best albums of the year, Groove Armada continue to explore new ideas, and offer up a musical buffet of sounds. In contrast to their second album, Vertigo which was mostly downtemp and chill, the title of this album foreshadows where these blokes are headed. This album incorporates live insrumentations as well as clever sampling. The first track, Suntoucher, blends hip-hop rhymes and disco orchestrations to create a head bopping sensation. The second track, Superstylin' is a fierce mix of reggae dub vocals and foot stomping house beats that beckons one to dance.
One of the finest tracks, Fogma, is nasty groove at its best and one can't help but play it over and over. They even revisit old school rap and breath new life into it in track 8, Raisin the Stakes. Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) is a befitting title for this album, proving that these blokes are moving up off the sofa and stepping onto the dancefloor. It definitely needs to be heard several times for it to be appreciated and once it finds its way into your cd player it will be there for a while. Its perfect driving music, getting ready to go out music, and it definitely satisfies when having a few friends round for drinks.
An album with great energy, Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub) is an evolution of two very talented musicians with great taste in music and an ear to the dancefloor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super stylin' album
I will be the first to admit that I wasn't wild about Groove Armada's first album "Vertigo". The music just didn't stick to me like the excellent "Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)" did. I wasn't planning on getting this album but then I heard the infectious hip hop beats of "Superstylin'" and that song immediately convinced me to give Groove Armada another chance. The hip hop/house beats and the vocals by M.A.D and MG in "Superstylin'" really got underneath my skin and impressed me quite a bit. I wasn't all that fond of the song "I See You Baby" from "Vertigo" which really left a somewhat bitter taste in my mouth. I was really glad that Groove Armada left that big beat sound off this album and started exploring other venues of musical genres and fusing it with house and hip hop beats. Not all the songs on "Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)" are upbeat, songs like "Little By Little" were made to chill out after the long hours of nightclubbing. Richie Haven's vocals add an r&b flavor to the song which I thought was well executed. One of my particular favorite tracks off this album (other than "Superstylin'") is "Healing". This song couldn't have come out at a better time than now. "Fogma" is a bit like "Superstylin'" with those killer infectious hip hop influenced beats that just remains firmly planted in the listener's head. Groove Armada has definitely earned a spot in my heart with "Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)". They have taken dance music to other level with their second album and raised the standards for their peers to try and meet at. I am definitely glad that I have given them another chance now.

5-0 out of 5 stars ..sorry i am late
I don't know why i arrived to this cd only in the 2004!
Never too late, in this case.
Infact for a long periods i considered Groove Armada likes the band of "My Friend" a nice song but...nothing more.
I was so wrong that when i listened all the cd...i was disappointed with me....why i discovered this wonderful cd only now?
Coming to the cd it's a mix of dub-groove-funk-rock-reggae in a dark hip-hop soul influence.
But all this kind of music are mixed in a very originally way.
A strong product without any falling down and up, great song are: SUNTOUCHER , SUPERSTYLIN , of course MY FRIEND and also HEALING.
I am gonna to buy all the GA products.........it's never too late.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best cd in my collection
Contrary to many other reviewers, this cd was my first introduction to GA. I believe it to be far superior to their previous release "Vertigo," which is a fine cd if you like more pop-like sounds. "Goodby Country" delves a bit deeper into bass-hitting tracks, but also includes some mellow tunes as well. My personal favorite is "Little by Little" This cd is probably the most played cd out of the 200+ cds that i own. it is perfect for almost any mood. buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This CD blew my away
I had heard maybe one track from this CD on internet radio and decided to dive in and buy it.
I was blown away. The styles are amazingly varied from song to song without the transitions seeming jarring. Production is great with layered sounds straight through and you have everything from dance/hip hop to softer ambient stuff.
A solid, solid album. ... Read more

Blue Note represents a goldmine of raw brain matter in the continuing mind-meld between dance-world spinners and the jazzmen of old. Like kids jumping into a pile of leaves, 13 DJs delve into the label's vaults to connect Donald Byrd fusion and Wayne Shorter hard-bop with a hodgepodge of tricky needlework. The newcomers keep up with the old hats, combining respect for the originals with a jolt of modern momentum. Some take a soft approach; Kyoto Jazz Massive deconstructs and rebuilds Eddie Henderson's "Kudu" with kicked-up rhythms and reverence for the song's marvelous Patrice Rushen keyboard solo. Meanwhile, DJ Cam brings some nice flow via Erik Truffaz, who provides extra flava on Byrd's funk-jazz workout "The Emperor." Going all the way out, Matthew Herbert's skittery, left-field style totally transforms Michel Petrucciani's noodling "Caravan." A challenging piece of jazz-dance, Blue Note Revisited artfully avoids downtempo clichés, doing justice to the explorative nature of these artists and the wax they've left behind. --Matthew Cooke ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Jazz + Eletronica = Inovação

4-0 out of 5 stars Rock Solid
Given the enormous talent involved and the quality of the material being "revisited", I expected this to be spectacular. I must say it didn't quite live up to all my expectations, but it's still pretty thrilling. The disc is rock solid. Great break beats, synth melodic loops, and hip hop stutters enrich these classic Blue Note tunes. My only criticism is that the musicians didn't seem to take any chances. To me, living Jazz music must be in some way innovative, however esoteric. I don't hear that on this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea From Blue Note
It is quite interesting to hear renditions of songs that were quite funky in themselves back in the day, and Blue Note provides just that. The majority of the tracks are interpretations and mixes of the soul/funk jazz era of the late 60's to the mid-70's. Hearing what Kenny Dope did to Bobby Hutcherson's "La Malanga" is enough to get me to go out and get the original track and see what it's like in its entirety.Every song on this track has a nice steady groove to it. I was surprised and disappointed with the final track, "Caravan", by Michel Petrucciani. It's sound didn't seem to quite fit in with the rest, given the fact that it was written nearly 20 years most of the other tracks. Aside from the lackluster last track, this album is a good addition to any Blue Note fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best jazz remix compilation so far
This is some of the best new jazz material DJs can use. Sonically interesting, challenging, genre-bending music good for dancing or knocking back expensive cocktails. Tempo changes, broken beats and a funky jazz sensibility make you never want to listen to (or spin) house music again.

My favourite tracks are La Malanga, Los Alamitos Latinfunklovesong and Won't You Open Up your Senses. Get the promo (La Malanga / LA Latinfunk ...) on 12" if you can. Can't wait for the whole set to come out on wax; it's that good. Lots of possibilities here to flex your turntable skills.

This compo is much better than last summer's Verve Remixed 2 (which still has a few good tracks).

Another good album to buy would be Blue Note Trip: Sunrise/Sunset to round things out if you like more obscure music from the Blue Note label.

5-0 out of 5 stars modern classic

Gone are the days when Moloko were a second rate Portishead--ever since last years hit of the summer 'Sing it Back',Moloko seem to have acquired a new confidence, with which to tell the world the 'Time Is Now',they've arrived. This c.d. is a monster over 60 minutes long, loads of tracks and a vast amount of musical styles.People expecting an entire c.d of the Ibiza hit 'Sing it Back' will be dissappointed because this group seem to ambitious than to play it safe by sticking to one musical formula. There are the old trip-hop influences but you can also add modern dance music,80's pop,70's disco.Added to this the best song I've heard in years The Time Is Now and you get one very good c.d.At times some of the lyrics are a bit silly, but Roisin Murphy has got such a good voice that she adapts readily to all the different styles on this album.Sometimes her voice is strong very like Annie Lennox during her most famous time in the mid 80's;then she's got the silky voice of a late night diva. There are plenty of really good songs on the c.d.-each with there own distinctive sound. All the songs have brilliant, really high quality instrumental backing to Roisin's great voice. My only slight qualm would be that the album is a bit too long and it does take the listener a long time to get to know the songs--but I would recommend to anybody to stick with it as the end result is worth it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A challenging listen
Again, the absence of one star's 'cause not all of the tracks were equally strong, not to mention that (As my headline implies) the album is not easy to swallow at first listen, but there were many great moments. The album opens with the gentle "Radio Moscow" (The first in several instrumental or semiinstrumental tracks that come now & then on the album, most of them are really wacky), which's followed by the funky Earth, Wind & Firestyle (Well, kinda) second single "Pure Pleasure Seeker". "Absent Minded Friends" sounds like an extragroovy Portishead track, whilst "Indigo" is just pure odd; But even though most people consider these first couple of tracks as strong ones (Which's true), I found the ballads "Being Is Bewildering" & "A Drop In The Ocean", & also the 1980'sesque "Dumb Inc." brilliant aswell. "The Time Is Now", single or not, just has to be one of the best tracks on the album with its guitar intro & its wonderful stringarrangment, whilst "If You Have A Cross To Bear You Might As Well Use It As A Crutch" is just hilarious & "Somebody Soemwhere" is definitely a funky lil' tune. Roisin's voice & lyrics are very powerful, especially on "Mother" (After you'll hear it you'll think twice before you're getting angry at your mom, let me tell ya that); & Mark Brydon is simply a man who does his job perfectly well. BEWARE: This album is only suitable for people with an open mind. People who expect a loadfull of Boris remixed "Sing It Back"like tracks shall stay away.

4-0 out of 5 stars ACTUALLY 4 1/2 STARS!!!
I gotta admit that this isn't my favorite Moloko album, in fact in comparison to the remarkable "Do You Like My Tight Sweater" and the equally impressive "I Am Not A Doctor", it's somewhat lackluster. However, Roisin Murphy's vocals are more refined and the song-writing more heartfelt. There are some pretty impressive tracks here though such as the steady-groovin' "Pure Pleasure Seeker", the Timbaland-esque "Absent Minded Friends", the disco-infectious "The Time is Now" and the real-as-it-gets "Mother". Other songs kinda make you want to hit the skip button, but of course this is my opinion. Lyrically, Moloko has developed tremendously--Musically, their sound this go round is too poppish and mainstream. Nevertheless, if you're a Moloko fan you'll dig this!

4-0 out of 5 stars BEST CD EVER
This album is a must have for trip-hop fans! Moloko combines sexy lyrics with hypnotic beats that are sure to melt the listeners heart! Very funky and swanky! Best songs are "pure pleasure seeker", the very retro "indigo", and the sultry "mother". Its best to buy this album with moloko's debut "do you like my tight sweater", both combined together make for a fun, trip-hopping journey through the world of Moloko!

2-0 out of 5 stars Don`t Know What to Make & Do With This
Although the hype is strong, this record is nothing to write home about. Moloko`s previous albums were experimental, creative and a bit bizarre and offbeat. Their third release, however, lost a part of that touch, presenting a couple of fine moments and a lot of so-so ones. It`s not bad, it has clever and witty songs but the final result is lackluster. Roisin Murphy`s voice still engages, even if the songwriting is subpar and somewhat blah. The singles "Indigo" and "The Time is Now" are both fine compositions, but they are lost in here since the album goes on for too long and its interest quickly fades. All in all, this record is a good one to skip, there`s certainly better things to make and do than listen to it. ... Read more

Named for a Robert Crumb character, Wagon Christ is a combo of crackpot British tinkerer and ingenious sound sculptor, a jungle and trip-hop outcast jamming with a juvenile, sex-crazed clown. Pals with fellow lunatics Aphex Twin (Richard James) and Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson), Wagon Christ (Luke Vibert) is nobody's sampling fool. Rather than use the "Apache" or "Amen" loop for the zillionth time, he creates stuttering beats and surreal string arrangements from dilapidated funk and '60s orchestral honchos Arthur Lyman and Serge Gainsbourg. Tally Ho! could be heard as an orchestral-jungle joke, but deeper listening reveals more than jungle's tired dance-floor demeanor. Christ weaves friendly organs, harrumphing Humpty Dumptys, balmy strings, Mad Max techno, and horror-movie samples together like Lawrence Welk dropping acid with Flavor Flav. "Memory Towel" recalls a Disneyesque nightmare, "Lovely" combines cooing Caribbean females with rubbery, roller-rink ska, "Juicy Luke Vibert" lampoons a lurid sex act for one. 4-0 out of 5 stars Piano Playa Lover
Luke Vibert (deranged genius trading as Wagon Christ) is THE only bearded Cornishman you should allow to whisper sweet nothings in your ear. The reason for this is simple - the sweet nothings, accompanied by fairground ride-style organ music and stuttering beats make up "Juicy Luke Vibert", just one of the playful, bouncy tracks Vibert has created for Tally Ho! The overall feel of the album is happy and warm, so the occasional scream jarrs badly, and there is a strange vein of sexual perversion running through it, too. Maybe I was a little hasty in trusting Vibert...

4-0 out of 5 stars When will we get another Plug album?
This album is typical Luke Vibert trip-hop. When the beats slow down Vibert doesn't sound as good. His best stuff is undoubtedly the drum and bass which he did under the name of Plug. Still, this is better than his previous Wagon Christ efforts, and is pretty funny in places. It is similar to the album that he had done previously under the name 'Luke Vibert', with funny sounds and funny samples. Not his best musical effort, but lots of fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars TRULY "CHRIST"-LIKE!!!
Luke Vibert a/k/a Wagon Christ has compiled a CD of utter brilliance and sheer genius! Not your typical hum-drum and bass or electronica for that matter, Wagon Christ takes songs and "mangles" them into beautiful-funky soundtracks, just like mix-master-phenom Amon Tobin would do it. In fact, some of the breaks and samples on "Tally Ho!" are quite reminiscent of Tobin's work only with a more fun, carefree, "vibrant" aura to them. Wagon Christ had to grow on me, and once it finally did, I could write an impartial review. This is a great CD for you electro heads and should satisfy you until the next big thing comes along!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just a Masterpiece
..this album have an special self feeling thats not easy to find out there and thats maybe why not everybody thakes it as an master piece; its hard to indicate some highlight song because every song sounds better than another ...strong melodies, well constructed beats and sounds ,60s orchestrations..realy a nice one..

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest.
I am writing this review mainly to disagree with trs-1's comment that Musipal is a much better CD than this one. Firstly, I don't disagree that Musipal is great... just not as good as Tally Ho! Tally Ho has all the freshness, innovation, uniqueness and depth one would expect in a debut album. Musipal is, well, sophomoric. It may be easier for some people to listen to than Tally Ho precisely because it does not take as many chances, and has less avant garde weirdness (which--in the hands of Luke Vibert--equates to brilliance). While Musipal is like a cross between Amon Tobin (who is mentioned on the inside sleeve) and Mixmaster Morris, many more influences come to mind when listening to Tally Ho. Such "influences" include YMO, David Van Tieghem, Logic System, The Orb, FSOL, Throbbing Gristle, Brainticket, etc.

In short, Tally Ho! is a joy to listen to. It has 4 utterly outstanding tracks: 2, 3, 5 & 8; while Musipal only has 1 I feel belongs in that category (13)... the remainder of these releases are merely outstanding. They are both keepers, and ones you will keep coming back to (if you are musically up-to-date and open minded). ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Wallpaper music let down by the stars
Modern lounge, sonic wallpaper, downtempo, middle tempo music (according to the CD) whatever you want to call it, OM Records excels at releasing it. A quick look at the artists on this comp- Thievery Corporation, Jazzanova, Mark Farina, Julius Papp, to name a few - should make it a no-brainer pick-up. But not so, they actually have the mediocre songs that clog up the disc.

Most the tracks use a similar formula: lazy beats, vocal snippets, strings, and dashes of funk on top. When the artists add to this with clever sounds and more intricate production it works. Freakniks' "Slow Roll 77" is what you are hoping to hear, an autumn-cool track of layered percussion, stereo samples, catchy loops and effects. "Nothing Can Pull Us Apart" dips into the vinyl vault for gentle pieces of rhythm and a powdery beat, the sound of stargazing. J Boogie's Dubtronic Science's "Oceanic Lullaby" takes strings, a Japanese koto (?), and even some Rakim samples for another winner.

But it's the bigger names that let this down. Reliable Thievery Corporation are disappointingly bland, and like Jazzanova's contribution, use an annoying vocal to mar the tune. Mark Farina and Julius Papp are decent, but they've done better. The remaining tracks range from decent filler to low blood sugar funk jamming.

This is respectable, with a few sublime tracks, but those looking to see what OM has to offer should get OM Lounge 2, a more varied and exciting collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING COMPILATION
I could listen to this CD a thousand times (getting there) and not be tired of it. A perfect mix of mid-tempo tunes. The whole damn OM Lounge series in amazing (vols. I - III). This is coming from someone who owns about twenty "chill out" type CDs. The OM lounge series tops my list, but Serve Chilled from Hed Kandi is great, too, as are the Cafe Del Mars. Happy hunting!

5-0 out of 5 stars Relaxing and yet sexy...
I'm ordering this CD today after hearing it only once, that's how impressed I was. A bunch of very talented jazz artists got together and set a groove that reminds me of Erykah Badu.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great chillout, lounging CD
Just picked this up at the store yesterday and I love it! I was hearing so much about the release of this CD that I had to check it out! And I must say that I am not disappointed at all. The CD blends a great mixture of electronic and alternative downtempo music. I listen to a lot of electronic music, but this is great because it captures certain moods that other genres do not. I suggest going out and buying this CD! Ministry of Sound definitely releases some of the best dance and chillout compilations out there!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great and interesting compilation
Well, this is weird I don't usually write reviews. I was actually looking for a Badly Drawn Boy Cd for my girlfriend and I ran into this Cd.[...].Anyway, I listened to the Cds (2CD pack) and immediately found that the Cd had a very good mixture of soothing music with some interesting electronic verse alternative feel to them. I heard of Massive Attack before so I immediately recognized their track on this compilation. Some of the songs I found kind of amusing like Roygbiv - Boards of Canada. All and all, while looking for a present for my girlfriend I ran into a really really good compilation of "Chilled" music (I guess you call it), and a present for myself. Additionally, here are some other songs I think you (people out there) should check out from this compilation. Les Nuits - Nightmares,I'll be waiting - Shena, I love my man - Bent. I guess you could say this a great mix of relaxing music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Great One
I have all of the MOS chillout CDs and like them all very much, this one included. There are a few mix points that don't go as smooth as they perhaps could but that is a minor note in an otherwise excellent selection of tracks. Great for at work or in the car or when relaxing at home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite Good
I like every one of the MOS Chillout CD's with the 2002 one being my favorite. This one is quite good as well, I listen to it all the time at work (along with other MOS chillout CDs and some Cafe Del Mar stuff and others)and it makes the day go by smoother. It is also good to for listening to in the car or after a night out dancing. While I do not much care for their dance selections (too pop dance for me) whoever is in charge of choosing the chill stuff at MOS is doing a good job.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for Rush Hour traffic
I got this CD last year and its still a keeper in my car's 5 Disc CD player. Although this album comes with 2 CDs, only the second CD is worth listening to. Play it in car on a nice sunny day while you're stuck in traffic, definetely will calm you down... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a 5 scoop ice cream cone!
I initially bought this CD for just the track "Dirt", but after listening to the whole CD, I love each and every song! The intro to "Dirt" was taken from an annoucement at the original Woodstock..."from now on, this is a free concert." Dead Elvis is like getting a 5 scoop ice cream cone with all different flavors and you love each and every flavor. I hear songs to this CD played alot as background music on MTV's Realworld/ Roadrules. It has lot's of variety - something for everyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Death in Vegas: Music of the future
Combining dub electronic, ambient noise, and great grooves, Death in Vegas is one of the most original bands in decades. Some tunes have a reggae influence, while others are flat out bumping hard trance. The unifying element in Dead Elvis is their gritty, herion-rock sound. Death in Vegas don't use samples as ornamentation, they use simple samples as the centerpiece for each tune; much like avant garde composer Steve Reich.

If you are tired of hearing the same old pop riffs and blues scales, then check out any Death in Vegas CD. Their influence will be heard for several years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Like a journey
I was blown away by this album. There's so much on here to enjoy. It's really an experienece from start to finish. I couldn't believe how it all flowed together, the sounds and just everything. There's a reggae influence, then all of a sudden hard trance, and more. You have to listen to it from start to finish. At the end it gets pretty dubbed out! They use live instrumentation which sets them apart from other groups in this genre. Excellent stuff!

5-0 out of 5 stars WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!!
Like getting rocketed by canon fire.

If I definitely knew this thing would not be edited I would litter this comment with all types of obscenities. This album is so out-of-this-world fantastic, I cannot contain myself whenever I listen to it. These guys are making art out of sound - they are high-brow artists.

These are the kinds of people we need playing music. People with vision.

4-0 out of 5 stars Twist and Crawl
Love the ablum. Total "techno", some limbo plane between Mininsrty and early Depeche Mode. Throw in some reggae and some blues and you get a Dead Elvis. Holmes and Fearless have made a great record. Covers all kinda moods and emotions. The thing that seperates them from other "techno" bands is their use of live instrumentation. Yeah this stuff rocks. ... Read more

Originally issued in 1995, Boards of Canada's Twoism EP makes it clear the Scottish duo of Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin were on to something from the start. As their first recorded work, scarce, vinyl-only copies of Twoism have been lustily sought after by rabid fans since the 1998 release of BoC's amazing, impossibly original Music Has The Right To Children and the quieter, but equally devastating Geogaddi. While not as adventuresome as those records, this EP is still Boards Of Canada all the way, as ample chunks of the band's unsettling and deeply involving style are easily found in songs like "Smokes Quantity" and the title track. Other songs such as the almost danceable "Seeya Later" show a more straightforward ambient/techno side that, while presented more nakedly here, is still quite apparent in their later work. While some might be disappointed after spending God knows what on a copy of Twoism only to find it suddenly available anywhere, others looking for more of BoC's melancholy, spellbinding compositions should take fast advantage. --Matthew Cooke ... 5-0 out of 5 stars WHICH CAME 1ST...THE CHICKEN OR THE EGG...
What I mean by that is if "Twoism" is actually the first album released by Boards of Canada, then wouldn't that make it their ground-breaking release in the IDM style of music instead of "Music Has the Right to Children"? I mean let's face it, nothing on "Twoism" really sounds any different than the music on "Music Has the Right to Children"--in fact, they almost sound like the same album in some instances. Which is not a bad thing at all, mind you, it just bothers me that "Twoism" is getting/has gotten less favorable reviews than "MHTRTC", which is unfair...but hey, different strokes for different folks. "Twoism" is still a classic in its own right and a brilliant piece of work from the boys of Boards of Canada, and it still sounds ten times better than "Geogaddi"...However, I find it hard to believe that one of the original 100 releases of this CD was bought online for a $1,000!! GOOD LAWD!!! Then, I ain't gonna trip too much about whoever the person was that did that, because I would pay twice that for a CD copy of Prince's infamous "BLACK ALBUM!"

5-0 out of 5 stars BoC are experts at their craft
I downloaded a few of the tracks from Twoism when I first heard of BoC. After purchasing the album, I tried their more recent work on Music Has The Right To Children. Comparing the two, Twoism is very minimalist; however, it still retains that gorgeous BoC feel, nostalgic yet an even stronger sense of something sinister in the air. BoC always seem to save the best for last in their albums. The final track, "1986 Summer Fire" is the simplest of all the tracks, yet it gives rise to the entire spectrum of emotions. The entire album is class.

3-0 out of 5 stars Darkest Boards Release
This is a really bleak album, more than even Geogaddi, which has a backbone of aggression that keeps it from becoming depressing. Not that fans expect upbeat, but usually there's a Nlogax, ROYGBIV, Aquarius, or Dawn Chorus to leaven the mood. Here Iced Cooly plays that role, but the synths are distorted to the point that the effect is more queasy than whimsical. For me a hallmark of the BoC sound is emotional ambivalence - innocence with a menacing undercurrent, psychedelia with a hint of madness - but the cumulative effect of these tracks is just dour.

A case in point would be the opener, Sixtyniner. The twinkling, autumnal synths are great, until this oboe-like sound and plodding beat come in and make it sound almost comically sad. The highlights of the album for me are Oirectine and Melissa Juice. The former is the epitome of minimalist composition; the opening tones alone vibrate at the perfect pitch to make your flesh creep and your hair stand on end. The reverb and distortion make the song sound as if it was recorded in a culvert or train tunnel; towards the end, a backward, loping beat is introduced that gives it a sinister, funky intensity. Totally eerie and unclassifiable. Melissa Juice is a slight composition that captures a nostalgic feeling in the way only BoC can.

Of course BoC completists have to have this EP; in fact, thanks to the miracle of filesharing, most of them already do. As far as I can tell the remastering is great and definitely justifies a purchase if you already know you like the material. And despite the downer mood it induces, there is a sense of vast open space on this album that makes it stand out when compared to, say, the more self-conscious and fanatically detailed Geogaddi. Still, for those new to the music of BoC, I would start with the superior Hi Scores EP, or either full length album, Music... or Geogaddi.

5-0 out of 5 stars The legacy of Twoism
Board of Canada's discography is a source of consternation for their fans. Several of their releases only quasi-exist- no one has heard them. Twoism for many years has only been around in the form of low quality mp3s. The poor fidelity of the sound only served to augment the listening experience. A seminal, obscure album of broken sounds further degraded by poor reproduction that still took resourcefullness to track down.

Hearing the proper release has been a bit of a revelation. For the most part I knew what to expect. (some of the songs here have been been recycled on subsequent BoC releases) However, there are new levels of detail present in the sound. That being said nothing about Twoism is overly polished. The synthesizers used sound as if they are drawing their last breath. The melodies are distant and suffocated.

Boards of Canada at this point in their career were even more minmalist then they are now. The signature Boc formula was already perfected on these tracks. Vintage synthesizers spitting out chilhood melodies over slow breakbeats. The melodies are happy, but they evoke a fake, drug-induced happiness that enhances the distance and detachment.

Probably the two most interesting tracks on Twoism are "Oirectine" and "Basefree". They sound unlike anything else Boards of Canada ever released. There's a definite industrial influence, interpreted as only the boys could. "Basefree" sounds like it should have been on Autechre's "Tri Repetae", but I think "Basefree" is actually predates that album. "Oirectine" features a severaly damaged, overly sinister, melody. "Twoism" and "Sixtyniner" are the prototype early Boards of Canada tracks.

Twoism is essential for any Boards of Canada fan and any fan of electronic music. Twoism was ostensibly a demo which got them noticed by Skam records. The rest is history.

5-0 out of 5 stars The beginning... or so we're told...
Twoism by Boards of Canada: The sound is there, organic, dreamy, and of course... microtonal. These brothers compose music that is timeless. Read between the lines... that's where BoC is controlling you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of all time!
A wonderful variation and compilation of songs from Moby to Maxwell. It's such a peaceful album to listen to that I even listen to it while I study. If you like music by Enya, Dido, Moby, Jill Scott, Maxwell, etc., then you'll love this album.

4-0 out of 5 stars great for an evening in
I thought that the mixture of mellow beats on this cd was great. I had bought this after buying the television soundtrack to Roswell, and was suprised to find out that more than a few of the songs were the same. If you are looking for songs to sing and drive to, buy Roswell instead. However, if you are in more of a chill-out mode, this album is the better buy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nearly Worthless.
For those who already own chillout collections from Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, and Naked Music, there is absolutely no reason to get this disc. Sony Music jumps on a bandwagon that's already getting stale with this collection of downtempo grooves. For the most part, the songs in themselves are pretty good, but we get predictable artists like Moby, Massive Attack, and Deep Forest who have already appeared on countless other discs. If a label is going to release an album of this nature, then it should dig deep and include rare quality tunes that may be underexposed. To its credit, it DOES have Jill Scott and Maxwell, giving this disc a welcome, soulful slant. But a couple of other tunes are questionable. What's music from the film "Titanic" doing here, for example? I can't say that this compilation is a bust, but it does almost nothing to separate itself from the rest of the other chillout CDs that are rapidly filling up record store bins. It's chillout with a corporate twist.

3-0 out of 5 stars It is fairly good but bland at times
I bought a copy of this album about two months ago when I saw a commercial on television advertisement for this album which at the time was not available in stores for the public. I bought a copy over the website. At the time, I thought this compilation was excellent but after I bought the German import of a similarily titled chillout compilation, my mind has drastically changed. I found the German import to be more compelling to listen to than this album. First and foremost, I could have lived without the tracks by Jill Scott and Maxwell. Not that I didn't like the songs but they sounded so out of place on this cd while Sade's "No Ordinary Love" was perfect with her silky smooth vocals. On this album you got the standard tracks by Moby, Delerium, Deep Forest, and Chicane, and Dido that you could find on a lot of chillout albums nowadays. Yawn! I love "Porcelain" and the Chillin' With the Family Mix of "Here With Me" but seriously, is it really necessary to put those songs on every chillout album? And "Sweet Lullaby" all over the place on new age compilations, I just want to pull my hair out from frustration. I like the song but is it really necessary to put that tired ol' song on another compilation? Surprisingly enough, one of my favorite tracks on this album is Jame Horner's "Rose" (from "Titanic"). Beautiful song, even moreso without the vocals from Celine Dion. I adored the Craig Armstrong track (w/Elizabeth Fraser) "This Love", Charlotte Church's "Just Wave Hello", Endorphin "Satie 1", Strange Cargo's (w/Beth Orton) "She Cries Your Name", and Tangerine Dream's "Love On a Real Train". Now while I liked a lot of songs on this album, there were a lot of flaws on this album. And as much as I like Evea Cassidy's version of "Fields of Gold", I didn't think it had any place on this album like the tracks by Jill Scott and Maxwell. Overall it is a good album but too bland. I rather spend a few more bucks on imports with a more diverse selection than this album has to offer. ... Read more

What you'll picture in your mind's eye when you hear Darkdancer is the worst music video you've ever seen: feather-haired folks in red leather jackets with a surfeit of diagonal zippers wandering through a landscape of fluorescent geometric shapes. At the climax, everything moves in slow motion. Welcome back to the '80s. Les Rhythmes Digitales, a.k.a. Jacques Lu Cont (an Englishman despite the name), digs that woebegone decade enough to make up for everyone else's lack of enthusiasm. On what is for all intents and purposes his debut, he's aimed his arsenal of vintage analog synths at your nostalgia and pleasure zones. The result is a smooth tour of Eurythmic bass lines, vocoderizations, and a guest appearance from Canadian big-in-the-U.K. '80s singer Nik Kershaw. Considering how gimmicky the conception is, it's a surprisingly amenable listen from start to finish, though only on the astonishing single "Jacques Your Body (Make Me Sweat)" does he tweak his source material enough to make clear he's capable of keeping some distance from his silliest indulgences. --Jeff Salamon ... This is one of my favorite CDs that I've heard in the last year. If you don't end up loving it, you're at least guaranteed to think it's pretty funny.

This is just one of those records you can't really intellectualize. You hear it, you love it or you hate it. It's all about fun fun fun and, for me, took no work at all to enjoy or "get into".

For the late 90's, this was a very bold album to produce. So much pressure is put on electronic artists to sound absolutely new and completely groundbreaking, and this record isn't only tinged with 80's influences-- it often sounds like it was made IN the 80's.

Most of these tracks are wonderful, I only find two to be unlistenable "Soft Machine" and "From: Disco To: Disco". The second to last, "Sometimes" is one of the most-played songs in my apartment.

To describe Les Rythmes latest offering Darkdancer as a simple retro step back to the early eighties is a huge mistake. Serious musicians and critics often rubbish this period despite the fact that it produced some of the most memorable pop songs ever recorded. Lu Cont's desire was to pay homage to the melodic electro of this period and adapt it to the modern night clubs of Europe. The key to this albums stunning success is the use of classic analogue keyboards which result in Darkdancer's rich and warm texture. It's incredibly catchy in places and superbly produced and you will be hard pushed to pick a favourate track. Darkdancer is a perfect summer album and it will never fail to get you in the mood for a night out clubbing. 80's diva Shannon makes a welcome return on a track that must have been written with her in mind called Takes a Little Time and it really cries out for a single release. Former 80's teen hero Nik Kershaw also comes out of exile and provides the vocal honours on Sometimes aided by a classic analogue bassline. It's the best thing he has ever done! I was fortunte enough to see Les Rythmes perform live in the dance tent at Reading Festival last summer, and the crowd went absolutely manic to the catchy rifts of Darkdancer. If you own a copy of the Human League's Dare or any of Depeche Mode's Vince Clark singles, you will adore this album!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of a Kind
I hated the 80's with a passion (See the Human Leauge for Further Details) However, this album is unbelievably amazing!!!Im a DJ and Im into electronica, Ive progressed through various stages, starting off with Fatboy Slim and ending up with Aphex Twin. Darkdancer is a very welcome addition to the collection, it is an example of what 80's music should have been. The synths are retro and the feeling generally upbeat. My favourite track has to be "Hypnotise", that 80's diso bassline sounds great out of a pair of 18inch subs!!! Forget anything else from the 80's, buy this album!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars good cheese
this guy has done some nice 80s cheese worthy of that great decade, and hes only pretending to be french!

5-0 out of 5 stars MERCY! MERCY!...STOP BEING FASHIONABLE!!
This is something terrific for bouncing....ALL OF THE TRACKS ARE UNIQUE AND WITH CERTAIN STYLE THAT GIVES YOU THE FEELING THAT YOU'RE A PICKY PERSON...FOR BUYING THIS ALBUM..

THE FIRST TRACK FOR INSTANCE..(DREAMIN')...IS JUST LIKE A FLASH BACK TO THE EARLY 80'S NEW WAVE...but with more sophisticated instruments ...so as (Takes a little time)....has it's own witty femenine vocals....
And not to forget...the perfect track that smashed all the French clubhouses in Paris...(From Disco to Disco)..

..THOSE PEOPLE ...got style and know what to do ....They're very fashionable...(Info: they dee-jayed the cat-walk show for the 2002 spring/summer collection for Italian designer house:VERSACE....)
...It is also very difficult to decide which genre this album represents....I know a lot of people who admire pop music...and they liked this one...so as a friend of mine who only listens to Solo & R&b...and loved this album too..

...This album is like a FIRST LESSON THAT TEACHES YOU HOW MUSIC GENRES CAN BE RELATED TO EACH OTHER...AND PRODUCE SOMETHING beautiful WHICH CAN'T BE DEVIDED AMONG A CERTAIN GENRE....

.... THIS ALBUM IS ABOUT ....MUSIC:WITHOUT HAVING DIVISIONS AND DROWNING IN THIS WORD'S MEANINGS AND ADJECTIVES...
PERFECTION IS CONTROLING....here...:)
Fans of (Daft Punk..Cassius..Madonna..Mirwais...Royksopp..Air and Massive Attack..) I recommend this....Only this for the entire year...
You won't get fed up of it... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than OM Lounge?
Indeed, just as OM Lounge changed the sound of music, OM Lounge2 extends beyond where OM Lounge left off...

5-0 out of 5 stars Another outstanding release, well... I bought this second.
So I bought Om Lounge 4 first, but still, this is awesome. The Lounge series of CD's (check out "Hi Fidelity Lounge" also) is a set of complilation (various artist) CD's which create truly unique jazz/electronic atmospheres. A lot like the Peace Orchestra or Filla Brazil. They definately do have a lounge twist though. If you love jazz (especially Samba), or electronic music (especially groove/drum and bass) you will love this whole series of CD's. Perfect for the club you own, or for having a cocktail party at your house. No matter what kind of music you like you MUST check out at least one of the CD's from this series. I bet you will like them.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's solid!
Very good downtempo beats here, honestly. I can't even tell you one bad track. Some you may not listen to that much but frankly each one has its own distinctive flavor and will be nicely accompanied with a beautiful member of the opposite sex and a fine martini.....seriously, buy this and enjoy the sexy yet mellow beats...

5-0 out of 5 stars a must have
ian pooley, what's your number. get it. gabriel renee. get it. only a few tracks are dispensible. a must have.

3-0 out of 5 stars A bit spotty
Don't get me wrong, I love the Om Lounge compilations, but I don't think that #2 was the best they could do. The songs are all in the same genre (just as every other om lounge compilation) and some are absolutely gorgeous, while others are just a cacophony of noise with irritating little bleeps and bloops stuck in. It's good background music, but not something I'd consciously listen to again. ... Read more

Album Description

Atlanta-based producer/remixer Chris Brann is without question one of the most prolific and far reaching of today’s electronic music artists. His Wamdue Kids, Wamdue Project, Ananda Project and P’taah incarnations, as well as his work under his own name, have all garnered critical acclaim including a massive international smash with Wamdue Project’s "King of My Castle" which sold over 2 million copies worldwide in 2000.

Brann’s decidedly abstract and classical approach to making music produces distinctively rhythmic landscapes that are about the limitless possibilities of sound, not musical apartheid. His aural reconstructions of Everything But The Girl, KD Lang, Bebel Gilberto, Thomas Newman (‘Six Feet Under’) Charles Webster, and Tweaker feat. David Sylvian, have hugely increased the demand for his productions and remixes, providing an outlet for his extraordinary scope.

Following on from 2000’s Release and 2001’s remix collection Re-Release, Morning Light is a sumptuous assemblage encapsulating Brann’s broad talents well as a roster of Atlanta-based and international artists. Resident muses Heather Johnson and Terrance
