5-0 out of 5 stars It just doesn't get any better than this.
Wow...This CD has got to be one of the best in history. From the beginning all the way through the end, the songs are entrancing and leave the listener with a strong desire to listen to every track over and over again. There isn't a weak song on the whole thing, truly. Anybody who enjoyed Nyana will definitely want to order Magik 1, and vice-versa.

5-0 out of 5 stars Strap yourselves in...
This is it...probably one of the best mixes ever to be captured on one cd. This magik mix, the first of many, is what sets Tiesto apart from the rest of the pack. Nobody, not even Paul Van Dyk, Oakenfold, or Armin van Buuren, NOBODY can mix, produce, or simply pick good tunes like DJ Tiesto.

From the minute you put this in your cd-rom drive, you will be mesmerized, at times to the point where you will want to get off your seat and dance...it is THAT good. The vocals, harmonies, and beats of each song are so well-coordinated into one continuous sound that you will swear this was mixed digitally and not by mere hands. Magik is certainly an appropriate name for this album because there was definitely a good amount of it utilized in the inception of this mix.

No matter how much criticism Tiesto receives or how bad any of his recent sets may have been in the eyes of those resentful of his popularity and success, he will always be #1, simply for this mix alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is the ultimate...
well, i've heard all of the magik series and magik 1 and magik 3 seem to flow like no other. if you're looking for a dreamy trance where you enter a journey into sound then you definitely need to get this. if you're looking for more of a female vocal then i recommend magik 3.

5-0 out of 5 stars can't Find the words
Having just written a review for Summerbreeze I really have run out of words for this man and don't want to get into essay mode. Just accept that this is a 5++++ rated album and if you only want to buy one DJ Tiesto album this is a good start. However, you really can't go wrong with any of his CDs so my recommendation is - find the money ! and buy In Search of Sunrise 1,2 and 3, Summerbreeze, Magik 2-7 series and In My Memory.

4-0 out of 5 stars Who's th artist?
I love this album. Magik 1 paves the way for all the other great magik albums. Dj Tiesto is a GOD! I have a question though. Who does "Into the Sun"? I love that song and I don't know the artist! ... Read more

What do you do if you're musically inclined in the strip-malled hell of Orlando, Florida? Since you're not exactly in a hotbed for good music, you've really no other choice than to spin your own. So goes the story of DJ Icey, one of the rave generation's most revered spin doctors. He sprang up in the early '90s, when every club kid wanted to hear, make, and buy old-school breaks. Icey was one of the few who actually followed through on this desire, which led to Mixmag's crowning him the King of Funky Breaks in 1998. Now that he's started his own record label (Zone Records), played at countless warehouse parties, and produced many of his own tracks and remixes, Icey proudly releases his Essential Mix disc. Following in the footsteps Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, and Paul Oakenfold, Icey's contribution to the Essential Series is a cost-efficient and hassle-free way to bring a world-renowned DJ-producer into your own living room. Icey assembled an A-list cast of contributors for this mix: Orbital, Tsunami One, Sabres of Paradise, David Holmes, and Timo Maas all make appearances, as does Icey himself. Not bad for a self-made kiddie-rave DJ. --Courtney Reimer ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another hit from the god of electro breaks.
Every album that DJ Icey releases always takes me by suprise - he keeps improving his skills while staying true to the funky breaks and electro beats that have made him so well known. In this appropriately named Essential Mix he throws in his own music along with other electro beat DJs and even threw in some progressive house to sweeten the mix. Overall this is a fast-paced funky mix that is essential to your DJ Icey/electro break collection. I would recommend this album to anyone new to this style of techno or hardcore fans - it deserves more than five stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars He did it again !!!!!
This mix is probably one of the best breaks cd's i have heard this year. Icey has plenty of Cd's out there but only 3 are available at common stores. Funky breaks,Generate and essential mix are available everywhere and Break to the Beat 1+2,Continouus play, Mixed and Selection you get at DJ stores. This Cd is probably leading the top with Selection and Funky Breaks. If you are an Icey fan this record is a must: It leads you from smooth icey breaks to fat banging beats you only heard him spinning on south florida raves so far. I would even say this Cd is for everybody you likes electronic music just because for the awesome track selection and the variety. If you need help finding rare icey or breaks cd's let me know: mschaerf@hotmail.com.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best CD's in my collection
Grrrreat techno ! This is by far the best Icey album out there, and gives "electro breaks"a new meaning by putting in some elements of house in the mix. This is one I highly recommend, and let the whole cd play you wont be dissapointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential Mix an Appropriate Name
...I absolutely love it!! There is a good variety of sounds and styles all blended into one nice long flowing groove. It's techno. It's dance. It's rave. It's house. It's funky. It's hard to stand still. (okay, so I'm not a professional music critic; but I am a music lover from WAY back!) The most notable tracks are "Purple" (infectious and upbeat), "Party Going On" (semi-euro housy Amsterdam meets Miami kind of thing), "Pumpin" (an interesting experience which eventually bursts into extreme dancefloor exhaultation at the 2 1/2 minute mark), and my favorite "Everyday" (excuse me, but is that a Diva in my living room? well then light the strobe and crank up the volume!!). Overall I would say it is an excellent CD and it satisfies the musical gypsy in me. I recommend it highly.

One rainy afternoon I was surfing on Amazon and this CD came up as a recommended CD. So I bought it. 5-0 out of 5 stars What else can you say?
I give this CD excellent props for its originality and quality of music. This album allows Tiesto, already the biggest name among Dutch djs (Sander Kleinenberg, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, etc.), to showcase his talent as one of the best electronic musicians/composers. From the operetta Magic Journey (reminds me of Dido's Aria remixed by Armin Van Buuren) to almost ballad tunes (Close to You, Battleship Grey), he shows his fans a different side to his massive remixes and a taste for vocal soft hooks. Tunes such as Obsession, Lethal Industry and Suburban Train should satisfy the trance addicts and truly round out this album Tiesto style. Overall, this album contains plenty of material for remixes and clubbers should be hearing somes of tunes for years. I personally heard plenty of Suburban Train already and I wonder who dares to remix "Obsession" besides Tiesto himself. This is probably the best electronica album I've heard this year along with Kosheen's Resist LP.

5-0 out of 5 stars REALLY GOOD STUFF!!!!!
This was my first DJ Tiesto cd that I bought. I bought it after being told by a co-worker that DJ Tiesto was a good dj that had very good music. So I decided to give it a try. And I'm SO glad I did. Ever since I purchased it, I've been addicted to Tiesto now. I have already bought all of the "In Search of Sunrise" series, and I'm planning on buying the "Magik" series as well.
This is very smooth, melodic trance from beginning to stop. Tracks like "Dallas 4PM, Obsession," and "In My Memory" just make you feel like you're in another world. The music it's just so pure and beautiful, it's almost incredible.
The mixing, is, of course, like any of Tiesto's I've heard -- nearly flawless...almost, if not 100% perfect. Buy it if you're into good trance music. I guarantee you won't be dissapointed.
This is NOT hardcore & fast paced, if you're looking for that, look elsewhere. This is melodic, smooth trance. Very good!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Close To You
I can't review the full CD because I'm stuck on the song "Close To You," listening to it over and over again. This is one of those songs that the "repeat" button exists for. It may not sound like much at first, but after a few listens I bet you'll be hooked. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tiesto: World's Number 1
DJ Tiesto has done it again... he has won the coveted number 1 DJ title for the second year in a row. He deserves all the praise one can muster... and this CD is a great example of why.

For all those people on this site who have already reviewed this disc, most of you do not know or care to know what you talking about. Tiesto is one of the world's greatest mixologists in the world today, and his live sets prove this fact. Nobody else, except Van Dyk, can make a crowd move the way Tiesto does. In time, these musicians feel they can contribute to the scene by releasing an ARTIST album, heck they already know what it takes to move a crowd... so why not try to do that with their OWN productions. That's what this is folks: an ARTIST album.

Tiesto made this music himself, and unlike the Magik series or the Search for Sunrise series of discs, (which by the way, are at the pinnacle of mix albums on the market)they do not need to be mixed. As a matter of fact, they shouldn't be or the listener would not be able to appreciate each track for what it really is... exceptional production work. These tunes are not meant to move a saturday night crowd, but they can with other talented artists re-mixing them or if they are worked into a set in just the right way.

Tiesto deserves praise for toning down the tempo in most of the songs here. In most cases, it doesn't work with other artists (case in point: Oakenfold's "Bunnka" and Van Dyk's "Reflections") but here, Tiesto has learned something through the years in his work in clubs... the originality is the key. Keep them coming back for more, and they will love you for it. It also helps when you don't get poppy and play radio-dance-crap fodder. There is none of that here, and as long as Tiesto does not sacrifice his originality any time soon, there will never be any.

5-0 out of 5 stars amazing journey
This is my first Tiesto CD and where i live, there's simply no Tiesto CD in store except for this one. and was i very lucky. This CD is just simply marvelous. I like all the songs esp. Flight 643, In my memory (the voice of nicola hitchcock gives me goose bump everytime i listen to this song), suburban train, lethal industry. Overall, this is the best trance CD I've ever listen, and I already order the rest of Tiesto's work. I cannot wait for them. Tiesto is my number 1 DJ ever! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This reminds me of that Aurora CD - Dreaming
I was so excited when I saw this album sitting on a shelf at Hastings for $14.99. I picked it up instantly with no hesitation. I realize now I should have. But it was Armin Van Buuren. He is the GOD of uplifting high-energy trance tracks. He takes mellow songs and remixes them to make a dancefloor filler! Well when the CD started up, I heard a nice intro chill song. Now this is usual for a good trance CD, gets you in the mood. Then track 2... chill out. Track 3 comes along and it's a great song. But I already own the single and I move on. A chilled-out vocal song, next... okay.. not that high energy. on to track 6: for System F, this is very low-key. Track 7 might as well be Track 4. Track 8 isn't bad but could get a lot better. Track 9, eehhh. Track 10, 11, 12, and 13 are great. But I didn't buy the album to have 3-4 great tracks. I bought it expecting it all to be great dancefloor-friendly trance tunes. To my surprise it isn't. I hope some remixers get ahold of the Justine Suissa tracks because those have potentional if Rank 1 or Above & Beyond (Oceanlab) remixed them. But usually that's Armin Van Buuren's job! I admire him for exploring another genre but this is his first full-produced, non-mixed CD. He shouldn't experiment on that one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! Excellent melodic and vocal trance!
This is true trance. It's been so techno-rized nowadays, but this is the real deal. If you like uplifting, melodic, morning, or vocal trance this is an absolute must-by. It's so hard to get this kind of music nowadays. Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto - their music is so hard and fast now. Yes, they can produce stuff like this and of this quality... but they are off in a different direction most of the time.

I don't know why some people think because this is NOT a million beats per minute and doesn't have an earth-shaking bass line that this isn't good. Believe me this CD is great. Everything flows nicely... Armin doesn't try to do too much on the CD. It has a nice warm feel. It's the kind of music that you can share with just about anyone. Not just a club-lover.

You can listen to this at work, doing chores, chilling, hanging out or even when you are in the mood to dance. Excellent song selection and vocals. Not too much of anything. The start of the CD is just delicious.

Armin, keep playing and producing music like this... don't follow everyone else. There is a definite huge audience for this. The death of this type of trance has been greatly exaggerated. If you stop making music like this, who will?

Fantastic CD! Put this on and let it caress your troubles away.

5-0 out of 5 stars As good as trance gets
I'm a relative new fan of Armin but just love his style. This CD delivers the smooth flowing quality that any trance fan out there would love. Track after track, Armin pumps it out with incredible precision. Each song gets better; the CD ends with Slipstream, just awsome deep beats, heart pounding. You will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A definite buy!
This is an all around an awesome album--a balanced collection of vocals, fast progressive dance beats, and down-tempo dreamy melodies. The voice of Justine Suissa in Burned with Desire is captivating, as well as Victoria Horn's catchy song Wait for You that makes you want to drop everything, dance and sing along! Communication is one of my favorite tunes. The pace starts out slow and progressively moves you and captivates you! The piano melody is reminiscent of Robert Miles's Children, but then switched to a much better faster beat! It is an awesome dance tune that doesn't get boring. The other best songs are Precious, Flipstream, Never Wanted This, Blue Fear 2003, Astronauts, and Stay. The song that should you might skip would be From The Heart. I'd highly recommend this to any trance fans! I'd love to hear what you guys think. Any other albums out there that's like this one?

3-0 out of 5 stars Still worth buying...
This album fell short for me, but not so much that I regret buying it. There are some fantastic tunes, mostly the instrumental ones, like tracks 1, 2, 6, 8, 12, and 13. So right there I have justified purchasing this CD. The CD starts out wonderfully, "Promedium" and "Precious" set the tone for the whole album and are reminiscent of early synth work from the seventies, like "Oxygene" by Jean Michele Jarre. Nice touch! One highlight for me included the ultra-trancy "From the Heart" (track 6), which has a very liquid sound; the only downfall being the silly spoken words, which are a pitfall in many good trance songs. Another great song was the last track, Slipstream. What an awesome way to end an album; you could roll the album credits to that tune! Of the tracks that have vocals the best are the slower ones, like track 4 and track 7; the others are pretty run-of-the-mill techno songs, with typical lyrics and not much to offer the listener. I find myself skipping through those tracks all the time. A couple of the instrumental tracks that I find boring are "Blue Fear 2003" and "Sunburn". "Sunburn" especially did nothing more than annoy me. I kept waiting for the song to get off the ground, which it never did. It was totally monotonous. The good news about the so-so tracks is that someone out there will remix them and turn them into some great club tunes (some of them already have been remixed) because even the worst tune on the CD has good bones; it just needs more beef. Overall this CD is a great escape. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Greatest Hits Collection!
BT is one of the most prolific electronic DJs/producers of the 1990s, and therefore, it is befitting that his "Greatest hits" package will be a massive 2 CD collection containing early singles as well as many of his best remixes.
Many people who bought his remix album released last year "R&R" may think it is unnecessary to buy this collection, since many of the tracks are the same. However, the big bonus here is that on CD1, the versions that are collected are the original single and radio versions of the songs, that are previously unavailable unless you bought the vinyl DJ singles.
CD1 is like a time capsule, starting with early BT tracks like "The Moment of truth", "Loving you more" and "Relativity", and progressing on to his #1 collaboration with Tori Amos, 1995's dance classic "Blue Skies", the surreal "Remember" from "ESCM", and ending with "Never Gonna Come Back Down", "Dreaming" and "Giving Up The Ghost" from his last studio full-length "Movement in Still Life".
CD2 is a continuous mix (this being an "Essential Selection" release), featuring many of BT's remixes over the years. "Running around town" by Billy Ray Martin, "Stranded" by Deep Dish and "Anomaly: Calling Your Name" by Libra, are all here. The highlight of this disc is, of course, near the end, with the exclusive mix of Madonna's "Drowned World/Substitute for Love", which adds a touch of class, a rousing version of the Crystal Method's "Keep Hope Alive", and ending with BT cohort DJ Rap's "Bad Girl" and Richard Butler's Euro-trancey "Shineaway".
Overall, this is a great album that comes at exactly the right time. Electronic music is hitting the mainstream, and BT, with production work for N Sync and Britney Spears among others, is at the forefront of this movement. This album showcases all his best works through the past decade, and lets the casual listener know that he is much more than a pop producer, but also an extraordinary turntable genius and keyboard whiz.
Here's to another 10 years in your life, Brian! Cheers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Give me a 10!
This has to be a very exclusive release to the US since it was released by Rhino Records and not BT's parent records in the US, Nettwerk. You won't even find this listed on BT's official website discography.

Nontheless, you'll find the various songs from Bt's 10-year career in a 2-CD set. CD1 featues his own compositions and CD2 are the remixes he was commissioned to do for other great artists.

I first got myself aquainted to his music on the deliciously penned Tori Amos collaboration Blue Skies. Tori's cold haunting voice matched Bt's self-styled techo-electronic sounds almost perfectly. You'll find it here on CD1, no doubt, for it represents one of BT's best triumphs. You also find such gems like his earliest works Moment of Truth and Relativity. You would realize how progressive BT has gotten on his later albums especially when he tried experimenting with electronic fusion with hip-hop/rap on Movement in Still Life. Dreaming, Giving Up The Ghost and Never Gonna Come Back Down truly represents this great leap forward. What's best, you'll get all the radio edits and remix single that were otherwise only available on vinyls or promo CDs.

On CD2, BT showcases his skills as a remixer which, by far, is his most accomplished work done. Remixing for The Crystal Method to Billy Ray Martin and Madonna, the remix of Drowned World for the latter is one of his best remixes for the 90's. It simply added a multi-dimension to a song that was dark and brooding. A great ommission here would have to be his splendid remix of Sarah McLachlan's I Love You which literally transformed the broadway style ballad to a stomping dancefloor cut.

If you just got on BT, this is is the best $20 to spend on without getting his whole collection. I recommend his new CD Emotional Technology too.

1-0 out of 5 stars Yick!
I'm sorry but after having heard so much about him, I had a go and checked this CD out. Terrible. The songs are lame, and there is nothing here that jumps out and grabs me. I was expecting a lot more. He must have friends in high places because talent alone didn't get him where he is today.

5-0 out of 5 stars BT at his BEST
This 2 disc set is a must have for any BT fan! From club house to trance beats, this set covers it all! Madonna 'Drowned World/Substitute for Love' remix is the best!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good, though dated at some points
As opposed to the case with most greatest hits compilations, this one sadly shows how the early sound of the electronica/dance genre (which was influenced heavily by BT's contributions) sounds dated when we are about to enter 2004. On the flip side, much in the same way as those of us born in the seventies now look back at the eighties with a sense of "that was the music we went through High School with" I can see a lot of younger people enjoying this music in 10-15 years time, as a retrospective into their middle school years.

This album presents a compilation of hits spanning from 1993 until 2002 (when it was issued) of Brian Transeau (a.k.a. BT), one of the masterminds behind the electronica/dance movement of the past decade, considered by many to be "bigger" than the very own Paul Oakenfold (I subscribe to that view, by the way...) '10 Years in the Life' gives a clear idea of how the sound of BT evolved through time, with a more techno/dance type of sound in the first half of the first disc (and in general in the first five years covered by the compilation), morphing into a more ambient/trancey sound toward the end of it (which closely match the most recent five years), when he takes a plunge into some originals and some remixes extracted from the great ESCM album. As the first disc closes, we get a feel for BT's scoring abilities, with "Believer" (from the movie "Go") and "The Revolution" (from "Tomb Raider" part I).

Disc 2, for a change, presents a continuous mix bundled with remixes that BT did of other artists' work (and a couple of his own crop) between 1995 and 1999, with Madonna's "Drowned World/Substitute For Love" and an almost unrecognizable (though very powerful) remix of Crystal Method's "Keep Hope Alive" as the high points. In general, I prefer the first disc by far, since it sounds less dated and sticks more with the more trancey music/remixes by BT that I learned to love.

As for me, though I didn't grow up to this music (not in the sense of going to school listening to it), I found more than one spot in the compilation that made me feel more alive than ever, as if being reborn. Hope it gives you the same feeling when you spin it... keep a young spirit! ... Read more

Generally speaking, this compilation disc leans away from more abrasive club fare, instead featuring a more down-tempo-orientedselection of source material. From a reimagined version of Dido's "Thank You" courtesy of Deep Dish, totracks from Moby Delerium and Darude, the record has a mellower lean than others of its ilk. Still, there's also morepop-oriented material from Sarina Paris, Dream, and aseriously discofied version of "Get Over Yourself" from Eden's Crush toenliven things and make the record accessible for a wide range of dancefans. --Matthew Cooke ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Not Totally Dance (almost though)
The following songs are not dance songs as follows...
1.Moby-South Side
2.Eddy Grant-Electric Avenue (ringbang mix by Peter Black)
3.Trick Daddy-Take It To Da House
4.Cleptomaniacs-All I Do (Is Think About You)
I HATE THOSE SONGS!!!!!
DIDO's Thankyou...they don't include her singing "I Just Wanna Thankyou"!!!!
SARINA PARIS's Look At Us...I love that song, my favorite, one of the best remixes on the CD.
DREAM's He Loves U Not...Another great song and remix.
Who Can't like GIGI D'AGOSTINO's I'll Fly With You(L'Amour Toujours)??? It's A grrrreat song...tipical beats though.
And last but not least TAMIA's Stranger In My House (HQ2 Mix). It's such a powerful song and she has a strong voice.
Most of the songs on the Cd are great, so I'll recomend this Cd to anyone. 4 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a mix CD - what more could you expect?
If you like dance music that they play in clubs, then you will definitely like TOTALLY DANCE! Most of the songs are remixes, so of course they'd sound different from the original versions. If you don't like remixes, then you probably don't like going to dance clubs. I personally LOVE remixes (and I can't wait 'til I'm 21 to go to clubs - I'm only 17!). My favorite tracks on this CD are: "Look At Us" [Beam & Yanou Mix] by Sarina Paris, "He Loves U Not" [HQ2 Mix] by Dream, "You Make Me Sick" [HQ2 Smooth Vibe Vocal Mix] by Pink, "Get Over Yourself" [Ak B. Rich X-Tended Mix] by Eden's Crush, "I'll Fly With You" [L'Amour Toujours] by Gigi D'Agostino, and my absolute favorite, "Stranger In My House" [HQ2 Mix] by Tamia. There is no pausing in the music on this CD between tracks...it just keeps playing from beginning to the end. If you love Pop music, Dance, and love attending late night dance clubs, then I strongly recommend TOTALLY DANCE! :-)

1-0 out of 5 stars ZERO Stars: Should be Negative (-2) Terrible Mixes and Songs
I'm always looking for good dance music that escapes my collection. I have to say this CD is absolutely terrible. There are only one or two good songs to begin with, and even those are horribly mixed. Unbelieveable waste of money. This CD deserves NEGATIVE TWO (-2) for ruining the only two good songs on this disc. Trust me and buy Louis DeVito Underground Party volumes 1-6, and perhaps Ultimate Dance Party, Ultradance, etc...

I have to cry that it is brand new and going right into the trash... ugh.

5-0 out of 5 stars Club 2001
This CD has all the awesome remixes of summer 2001, with the hottest remixes by Hex Hector (Hq2), Al B Rich, and Deep Dish!

This CD is jam packed with awesome dance songs that are not only great for busting a groove, but great for listening to while exercising, or anytime you need a good energy boost.

This is the best collection of dance hits you will ever find, don't turn it down! (the only dissapointment is that they didn't have the radio remix of I'll Fly With You) I can only pray for a Totally Dance 2.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Can't Stop Listening
Basically, Totally Dance is a CD of pop and R&B hits in remixed form. A few of the songs are in their original form. With the exception of tracks 8, 13, and 14, I like the entire CD. My absolute favorite songs are:

1. Faithless - We Come 1
2. Pink - You Make Me Sick (HQ2 Smooth Vibe Mix)
3. Delerium f/Sarah McLachlan - Silence (Airscape Mix)
4. Darude - Sandstorm
5. Tamia - Stranger In My House (HQ2 Mix)
6. Toni Braxton - Maybe (Dynamix MYC Mix)

I hope Arista Records comes out with another dance compilation soon, but I don't know how they're gonna top this! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars DJ Mixing for Classic Dance Lovers 4 1/2 Stars
Featured artists are Alice Deejay, Fragma, ATB and Ian Van Dahl which are well known classics of the Club scene. There's plenty of vocals and variations. Depending on how you define Trance you may not find much here. Trance in my knowledge is electronically generated music with ecstasy beats that range from lower to higher or the other way around. I didn't find much Trance in this CD although some songs DID have it. I enjoyed the nice flow of songs that brought old memories of dancing in the club until the dawn of light. A great album to play for exercise or for just dancing until you drop dead. "Castles In The Sky" is one of my favorite songs in this album. It has the trance beats, drums n' bass and club sounds. "Better Off Alone" follows this song and can get you to feel so FREE! Its that club song and radio song you hear over and over and never get sick of. This song has the singer ask, "Do you think you are better off alone?" I felt tremendous positive girl power when I heard that song. The CD intensifies with "Someone" reflecting soft vocals. Song#9 is great, mentioning I need a miracle. I know I've felt I need to be rescued with some miracle from time to time. Every song is excellent. I can write an endless review. The songs reach about 4 1/2 stars or even 5 throughout. REMEMBER this is a Club CD with DJ mixes for dance lovers who like to reminisce that club feeling of going down the steps of the club while the people stare you up & down or for that moment when you come out of the restroom and glance to the person of your dreams! A true uplifting experience of music to feel and to fantasize!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad.
First I really didn't like this CD, but after listening to it twice, I changed my mind. It's good. Not super, not OK, just good. If you want to buy a trance CD, and you already own all the best ones, this is the one for you to buy, but otherwise there are better CDs out there.

2-0 out of 5 stars There's soo much better than this out there
I have to compare this one to others out there, and vol.2 is flat. It's not terrible, but a yawner.

I just bought vol. 4, it's it's head and shoulders better than this one. Skip this and buy that! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good Cd
Ok, this Cd had my favorite trance song in all of history, which is Kiss(when the sun don't shine) by the Venga boys. This song is Very unplifting and 9 minutes long too. There were also a lot of other good songs too, like Let u Go. I highly recommend this Cd if you like uplifting trance, with some hard trance too.

3-0 out of 5 stars This is an "OK" album
From other "TRANCE" cd's that I have listened to, I would say that this does not really constitute as being trance music. I would like to say that it is a good cd, just not what the title would cause most music listeners to believe the music actually is...or something like that...it's your choice... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Its permanently lodged in my brain
I remember when this cd was 16.99 I sampled it then and told my self to buy it.I'm stupid obviously, but I know good music, when I finally got ready to buy it I noticed it can't be found for less than thirty or so dollars.I thought there was cap on CD's that ended at like 18.99.I was wrong, I purchased this CD after waiting a while more to see if the price would go down.It didn't but I honestly understand why this is so expensive. This CD jams. This guy makes me want to drive fast, hug people, jump out of planes and throw light sticks at people all at the same time. It's a caucophony of sex for the ears thats just blowing out of your speakers at mach-oh-my-god.Your ear drums will be moaning and sighing and calling you big daddy all night. When you listen to it loud your brain starts to gyrate to the music, mine still does the tootsie roll cause I'm in a country where they just got turned on to Vanilla Ice and Mc Hammer, but I'm sure you're brain will do the whatever it is that your brain does when it's found total bliss.

This CD gets a handful of yummies from me.And the female voices on it get a whole truckful of deliciousness.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great blend of Dance,Techno, and Trance
I can say this is one of the best dance albums of 04',and all time from one of the greatest dj's on the planet.Beginning to end this cd never lets up,making it great for driving and dancing. This is Ferry's first studio album and a damn fine one at that.Just about every song is different in some way. Each song(as with all his cd's)are so full of energy and emotions. If you like dance, you must have this album!

5-0 out of 5 stars OF COARSE ITS EXPENSIVE
THIS CD IS AN IMPORT THEREFORE IT IS GOING 2 BE ALOT OF MONEY
FERRY CORSTEN ROCKS AND NEEDS TO STAY HOW HE IS.

5-0 out of 5 stars My first Ferry Corsten album
I saw Ferry Corsten's name in the 2003 list of Top 100 DJ In the World by DJ Mag and I'd decided togive this album a go. I'm a newbie to trance and I like ATB, Paul Van Dyk, and Armin Van Buuren's sets. I'm glad I didn't go wrong by purchasing this album, most of the songs sounded very electronic, and that's good because it adds more variety to my trance collection.
I especially like track 2(Whatever), 3(Rock Your Body Rock), 4(Right Of Way), 7(Sweet Sorrow), 8(Hearts Connected) where they all sounded very electronic. Overall, I would recommend this album if you like to listen to electronic and light rock-influenced trance. Ferry Corsten is no Paul Van Dyk or Tiesto or any other DJ. Why compare him with others, just judge him by his music. 5 stars.

3-0 out of 5 stars ferry, stick to djing
yes, there are some good songs: Rock your body rock, right of way, its time, but this album is not worth the price. This production is not all that good, okay, but not good.Ferry, stick to djing.Your mixed live in LA is very good. Anyone who doenst know this artist buy that album or global trancemission 02.You will not be disappointed with that. Ferry, again, dont produce. The only dj ive know to pull off half way decent songs that got playtime is tiesto and some of van buurens work. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars atb = absolute the best in trance
I bought this album in feb this year. Didn't know what to expect of ATB. This cd is more then good it's the best mix cd I have ever heard in my life. The two-disc set includes over 30 tracks of pure trance music. The mixing and editing is perfect and it never slows down one minute. The entire album is almost 140 minutes long. I don't care for vocals in trance so for me it's perfect with just driving beats and hypnotic melodies. I just love this album so much. I can listen to the songs over and over again without getting tired of them. The picture on the front is extremly hot,he is truly the hottest DJ around. If you like trance in general buy this wonderful album and all his original albums too. Support this man and his music.

4-0 out of 5 stars atb* mixmaster extraordinaire
Without a doubt, ATB is the best DJ on the planet. Who has put out better compiled mixes, MORE solid studio albums, or MORE dance hits after dance hits? No one. While Tiesto may be a better mixer, he hasn't even come close to accomplishing what ATB has. Tiesto has never had a solid recorded studio album (Just Be, his newest, is a let down) and has never put out as many popular dance floor hits. ATB's knack for writing, composing melodies, finding the right singers, and producing it all are second to none.

This CD is truly a gem of current trance, but I only have two rather minor complaints, that unfortunately force me to give it 4 stars and not 5: 1) it's a tad too long; combine it to one disc and edit it down to only the best tracks and you would have perfection; I find myself skipping tracks here and there. 2) a little too many instrumental tracks; only about 7 out of the 32 tracks had vocals; could have evened it out more.

This is kind of the opposite of his new release No Silence, which has 9 out of 13 tracks having vocals. I also highly recommend grabbing No Silence right away!!

If you want a current 5 star DJ compiled and mixed CD then look no further than the new release Positive Ways 3 by Ronski Speed. It's a simply amazing CD. I find that and Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise 3 to be the best two mixed CD's I have in my collection.

Two other awesome mix CD's by ATB are the Ministry of Sounds Clubber's Guide to Trance and the first Trance Mix USA CD. They are a few years old now, but are excellent mixes I still play consistently and can leave in all the way through.

One other note: there is a 3 disc Asian import of this album Don't bother. It's not worth the extra dough because the 3rd disc is just a compilation of older ATB stuff that can be found on previous cd's. It's a chill CD too, so a much different pace than the other two discs. If you are an ATB fan, chances are you already have just about every track on that bonus disc. It comes in a huge, chunky fold out case, which takes up an incredible amount of room in a CD collection. Just get the normal 2 disc set in it's nice normal CD size, and save some bucks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great progressive trance
ATB is not just a great producer of club and trance classics, he's also a pretty accomplished DJ. On this double disc he spins remixed and reworked progressive and uplifting trance for fans of ATB as well as Oakenfold, Blank & Jones, and even Tiesto. The beats are always great four-to-the-floor club bangers while the melodies and orchestrations are simply lush and vibrant. Some track highlights include Everything But the Girl's "Missing [Todd Terry Club Mix]", Paul Van Dyk's "Time Of Our Lives [PVD Club Mix]", Blank & Jones' "Summer Sun", and Metalmaster's "Is This Hard Enough?" [Spanishfly Mix]". It's a great introduction to those new to trance music and is also essential for those continuing to listen.

4-0 out of 5 stars Near perfection
This is as close to perfect as you can get when putting together a collection of trance remixes. Excellent choices, with only a handful not catching my ear. Great stuff and the best trance disc out now. Also, If you're looking for some hard electronica, similar to Underworld or the Chemical Brothers, then check out mr.deviant's "Techno Obsession". That CD is killer too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent mix...if you're an ATB fan, you'll love it even mo
First of all, I'm a little biased because ATB is my favorite artist/DJ. But that doessn't diminish the fact that this CD has excellent trance sounds. I'm not a big fan of remixes but ATB does a great job of compiling all these trance tracks all in 2 cds. Continuous beats track after track. I recommend this album wholeheartedly. ... Read more

DJs Sasha and Digweed are known throughout the world for their sublime mixes and clever choice of material popularized by their Northern Exposure CD series. Beyond the interminable techno and house of their contemporaries, S&D have found some magic key with which they make real music out of monotonous dance-floor detritus. Their mixes breathe, travel, and reflect, making armchair listening a resplendent journey in the head. Those of us who would rather endure an evening with Sugar Ray than get caught in some ear-shattering dance dungeon find solace in the mercurial, near shamanic sounds of S&D. But can solo Sasha match the muse? Xpander follows the S&D formula to a T, leaving you wondering who is the genie and who is the master in that partnership. Almost subliminally, the Sasha tracks "Xpander," "Belfunk," "Rabbitweed," and "Baja" unwind as much in the air as in your head. The beat, of course, is omnipotent, but Sasha adds touches of glowing ambient, experimental house, soundtrack surrealism, and trippy, Warpish techno. Remember that scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey where our hero, Dave, travels light years in a single moment, only to find himself looking at his own aged body eating eggs? Xpander is the eerie modern soundtrack to a heightened aging process, one where the mind gets lost in the void while the body either shuts down or dances. --Ken Micallef ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent Piece
I agree with a lot of people that this sets a high standard for Sasha and that it is indeed an excellent piece.
The only thing that bothers me about this CD is that it's not mixed. Other than that I have no complaints.
Xpander, a track on the CD is very nice and it's tempo is decently fast and up beat.
Belfunk is also a nice track, starting out slow and then going into a frenzy bass and electronic synths playing throughout the song.
Rabbitweed, the most interesting and probably the most complex songs on the CD, meant something for raves and such, I really like this song.
Baja, the last track and a nice ender for the CD, soft and mellow, sorta a cool down I suppose. Kinda dreamy and with some bass here and there.
All and all this is an important CD to own if you like Sasha's work or if not it might be a nice starter into the world of trance.

5-0 out of 5 stars More than a DJ
Well, it seems that Sasha had decided to go further than just DJing and mixing and decided to start produing too. After listening to this EP, I've reached the same conclusion that I've reached when I've heard "Northern Exposure" for the first time. This guy is more than just a DJ - he's an artist.

Except the radio cut for "XPander", all of the tracks are very long (10 minutes and up) and yet do not find them boring. Instead, they really do what they were meant to do : put you in a trance. All the tracks are absolutly fantastic, and I don't think you'll find a respectable trance collection CD that doesn't have one track from this EP.

XPander has the best potential to be a radio hit, but my favorite track on this EP is "Bellfunk". Sasha is not afraid to put stop to the beats in this track, and so you get 2 minutes of a dreamy chillout sound in a middle of a really poundy track. "Rabbitweed" is a fine tune too, and Baja is a bit different, starting slowly and climbing up.

I believe that after this EP Sasha will become a very wanted person in the production studios as he is on the clubs. You should really try this EP and experience a sophisticated, non cheesy trance and progressive house sound.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Electronic Music
Xpander is Sasha's defining moment. He had already proven that he was a phenomenal DJ with his work with John Digweed, first on the genre defining Renaissance Mix Album, and subsequently on their amazing Northern Exposure releases. This release solidified him as superb producer, and as the leader of the trance movement of the late 90's and progressive movement of the new millenium. This is perhaps the perfect starting piece for someone just starting out with the genre. It's affordable, and you are given four timeless gems of modern electronic music. I especially enjoy "Baja" with it's chillingly gorgeous chanting and trippy bassline. An abosolutely essential purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Great Xpander
Can there be any doubt that Xpander is the
greatest "trance" tune of all time?
No, there can be no doubt about this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thrilling!
I know this review is a little late, but Xpander still sounds fresh today. I purchased this after I heard the Belfunk track on Sasha & Digweed's "Northern Exposure" and wanted the stand alone track. What a surprise. Xpander is a dancefloor assault composition. Track 1, Xpander (Edit) is just that...an edit. Proceed to the full version. The intro makes my hair stand on end. Also worthy of mention is Rabbitweed. Sasha departs from his traditional 4 on the floor rhythm and ventures into a MidEastern influenced rhythm and melody. After a few minutes into the song, a haunting melody forms over a metronome tick in the background. Then, Sasha unleashes a sick, psychodelic wall of sound. Great song. I have really enjoyed his solo material. Cheers! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but some things are boring
Overall good cd, but some other dance cd's are better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Get it if you don't mind older songs
Granted some of these songs are old on the cd, but this cd is called Dance Divas so it will include singers past and present. Run Down:

1. Mr. Lonely -- I can listen to about a minute of this. I know Deborah Cox has a good voice, but enough already!

2. Wish I didn't Miss You -- I like this song, but I heard it a lot on the radio so I tend to skip over it.

3. I Never Knew -- She made a come back and it was good.

4. Ti Amo -- I loved this song when I heard it. I even saw them perform at a club, and they really aren't that bad. I love the beat.

5. Making Love -- This is my FAVORITE song on the whole cd. I play it over and over and over again. She just has a powerful voice and its just so upbeat.

6. Better off Alone -- I always liked this song, even though she says the same 3 phrases over and over again.

7. Rapture -- Old and overplayed. I did like it at one point.

8. Feel it -- Next..

9. Find Another Woman -- It's ok.. next

10. Skin -- Next

11. Sexual -- Always liked this song. Still good after all this time.

12. Never had a dream come true -- I like this song. A little bit on the cheese factor, but it does ok.

13. Gotta tell you -- I usually skip this one. I can listen to about a minute on this one as well.

14. Free -- Another ok song.

15. How do I live -- This mix is nice, but the song was never one of my favorites.

16. Say A Little Prayer -- I keep thinking "My Best Friend's Wedding"

17. Unbreak My Heart -- This has a disco beat to it. An improvement on the original.

18. Make The World Go Round -- Next..

19. Dance Divas Mega Mix -- Pretty good. I always like the mega mixes.

So you're probably wondering why I would give it 4 stars if I only like half the songs. The songs that I do like on this cd are very good, so I base it on them solely. I do think that the Underground Dance party series is a heck of a lot better and Dance Factory 1 is good too. (See my review...shameless personal plug) Overall a good first effort on a Dance Divas cd.

2-0 out of 5 stars WHATS UP WITH MR.DEVITO
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY .NEW MUSIC WITH OLD ,OLD MUSIC

VERY BAD, GET NYC UNDERGROUND VOL.5 MUCH BETTER

3-0 out of 5 stars Dance Divas Letdown
I wasn't too thrilled with Louie Devito's Dance Divas. I waited so long for this cd hoping more. Only 5 songs were good on the cd. Only 2 out of the 5 were good. I don't know, I think its because all the other songs past #5 on the cd got older and older. The songs on the cd ranged anywhere from (2003-1996). The only reason why I really wanted this cd is because it had a song that I heard on WKTU that I really wanted. It's called "Making love Out Of Nothing At All" by Nikki A. That is a hot song other than that song and Ti Amo by Aria the cd stunk. It included Deborah Cox "Mr Lonely", Angie Stone "I Wish I Didn't Miss You", and Gloria Gaynor "I Never Knew", but thats all the songs that are practically new. Oh and Iio~ Rapture is ok too. I think artists like Alice Deejay, The tamperer, Charlotte, S Club 7, Ultra Nate, Leann Rimes, Diana King, Toni Braxton, and Sandy B shouldn't have been on it. Hint: (They are older Dance Hits that are played out and some of them sound like they should be on a KidZ Bop Cd or sumthin! Anyway other than those major flaws I never really disliked any Louie Devito CD's, but this one disappointed me. I liked Nikki A, Aria, Gloria Gaynor, Deborah Cox, and Angie Stone, but the rest of the mix from #'s 6-18 were not worth listening to except for the way each song mixes into each other. I give Louie DeVito props for mixing old with the new but I was expecting more new hits from artists like Reina, Tina Ann, India, Jocelyn Enriquez, Vivian Green ETC. I liked it but it wasn't enough to satisfy me. Now I have to wait for NYC Underground Party Volume 6 Hope it's better. (The Megamix on the cd was good though which was made by bad boy joe) It's A Cosi Cosi CD (So-So cd in Italian) LOL

5-0 out of 5 stars Devito's Best Album To Date!!!
Louie Devito's previous albums have always been good and fun to listen to, however not all of the songs he chooses to include on his albums work well together. His last album NYC Underground 5 was good in parts, but lost momentum towards the end, and the second disc was kind of a let down. Dance Diva's stands way apart from his other dance collections by far!!! Devito choose songs that work well together, and make you want to get up and shake your [rear-end] all over the dance floor. Dance Diva's is by far the best dance collection released so far this year. This CD is fun to listen to, and you will not get bored listening to it, unlike alot of the dance collections out right now. Dance Diva's is Louie Devito's best album to date. You should most definitly buy the CD!!!! Diva's rules!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars an amazing album from a talented Christian artist
First off, I cannot help but rave about this album. As an avid fan of and participant in the techno scene for years, I have been exposed to the best beats out there, and know how emotionally moving that trance can be. As a Christian, I know that only God can bring true happiness and fulfillment in life, and that He fully deserves our worship.

I own almost 200 of the greatest trance and other techno cds on the market, from artists including Oakenfold, BT, Sasha & Digweed, Chemical Brothers, Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Johnny Vicious, and Dave Seaman, to name a few. (If you don't know who these amazing DJs are, I urge you to do yourself a favor and pick up some of their cds...you won't be sorry!) I also know that, at least in my own humble opinion, most Christian music is no where near as good as secular music from the same genre. I am pleased to report, however, that Andy Hunter is a shining exception to the rule. "Exodus" is a CD so dense, so full of exceptional composition and talent, so well-produced, so moving and so beautiful that a written review could never fully express it.

Nothing about this CD is overtly "Christian" or preachy, but a close examination of the samples and lyrics reveals that they tell of a loving and worthy God and are very moving and meaningful to those who understand about Him. Those who buy this album just because it is wonderful trance music cannot be disappointed either--the beats are just so perfectly laid out it's almost scary! If you love techno, especially artists like Oakenfold, BT, Timo Maas, or the Chems, buy this cd. Christian or not, it is one of the best CDs of 2002. I wish all artists were as devoted to their craft and as phenomenally talented as Andy Hunter.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing just isn't enough to describe it
This is probably the greatest Christian music I have ever heard. Of course, I'm a little biased towards techno, but for anyone sick of that cruddy stuff you hear half of the time on the radio, this is a VERY refreshing album.

I listen to a lot of techno, the same artists as the previous reviewer does, and I'd have to say that Andy Hunter is VERY much like BT. His first album has a good mix of relaxing almost ambient style music mixed in with some nice semi-hard trance tracks as well. If you own BT's album ESCM, you'll know what I'm talking about.

The track "Show" alone is worth the price of the CD! Not to mention that the first track "Go" is used in the trailer for the "Enter the Matrix" video game. The opening song to the final Matrix reloaded trailer is also off of this CD. This is just a glipse of how good this cd is. This CD is a great buy even for the non-Christian.

You can check out his music streaming @ his website (just do a google search), so you can see just how good it is before you buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Trance Album !
As a hiphop freak i don't like trance etc.
But I like this album
first time I heard Andy hunter was live and I liked what I heard
It's very good mixed, the tracks fits in well to each other.
it's hard to not rave to it.
It's a very pure atmophere in the music.
he takes you along o journey into God's presence.
This album is so amazing.

5-0 out of 5 stars All I Can Add is -- Bravo Andy Hunter!
This was a great album that I bought due to hearing the track "Go" on the video game "SSX3". I have been a long-time listener of New Age music, moreso than Techno\Trance music. I have to rate this album equal to the best offerings from Jean-Jarre and Vangelis.

I can't wait for more from Andy and I hope that his sophmore effort is just as well done!

2-0 out of 5 stars This is a great album
I bought this album just because they paired it with Furious Angels by Rob Dougan. And to my surprise it was a great album. I love the track Amazing, and Wonders Of You. The woners of you track was featured in Need for Speed Underground and I loved then and as no surprise the entire album was great. I can listen to the entire album without skipping a track and for me thats very rare. ... Read more

A good dance compilation is designed to distract from woe and prompt booty-shaking. Sandra Collins is a master of trance-groove trench-digging--her specialty is beat building, and not much else. As she did with 2000's Tranceport 3 mix, Collins uses the Cream platform to spin music for twilight flexing, but with a militaristic edge.

Tranceport 3 offered trance of epic scale, but Cream is more ambient and minimal. Much of the album is simply a 4/4 beat with little adornment except the occasional alien percussion or a ghostly voice sampled and inserted for effect. Each track supports the current Collins manifesto of minimal dance music for quick clubbing, but these tracks foster an insular mood of cold, sleek uniformity.

Carissa Mondavi's "Solid Ground" is the ambient-ish intro, with a warm vocal and tribal percussion aiding the glowing groove. The CD builds slowly, changing little while layering thin synth and bass sounds, rolling through Manhattan's "Robot Funk 2001" and 16th Element's "Warp" until the repetitive beat grows harder and more direct with Traveller & Quest's "Chaos Engine."

High hats get busier and the beat syncopates for Voyager's "Derangement of the Senses." This track--along with Chiller Twist's "Do You Hear It?"--provide the album's mellow mid-section. "Thriller"-esque accents in the latter make the welcome rests sound corny, not profound. The closing tracks by JBN, T-Empo and Maurice & Noble ratchet up the intensity, but nowhere near the intense levels of Tranceport 3. Is Collins mellowing with age, or simply becoming more cerebral? Her Cream mix shows a clever DJ keeping it hard, lean, and mysterious. --Ken Micallef ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sandra Collins- Cream of the crop
Hands down this is one of the best Trance CDs to come out this year. From the opening track by Carissa Mondavi until the last, this CD is non-stop make ya dance trance. She really out did herself with this latest release of everything from progressive house to tribal-tech to moody trance. This is a must have CD...:)

5-0 out of 5 stars Sandra on top of her game....
I just recieved this compaliation yesterday! I gotta say this is Sandra's best! I have Lost in Time, Transport 3 and about 4 bootleg CD's and none compare to this. This is a must buy for Trance Fans! She brings you to the highest levels with vocal these sweet tracks. Not as dark as normal a little more vocals than normal. Its' the best CD of 01 hands down!! Sancho

4-0 out of 5 stars Quality release
Personally, I would agree that the CD lacks a track that brings the mix up to another level. But this CD does have a nice vibe to it. It slowly, steadily surges forward, similar to GU Los Angeles. I realize that Sandra is known to spin trance, but in my opinion, this seems to be more of a progressive house release than anything. Overall, a quality release that I would recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Cream of the crop
When i first baught this cd i thought it was ok. After listening to it a few more times I corrected myself and thought that this had to be one of my favs. Although many people think that this cd is to slow, I have to say that the Deep Trance mixed in with a few tribal type beats is acctually very soothing. I would deffinitley add this cd to my collection if I wanted sonmething different and mellow. I saw Sandra 3 years ago in Spain and she was absoultuley fantastic. This is a must have cd. If you don't already have it or you have Transport 3 you shold consider getting this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars No Build, No Release...
Well, I have to say that I agree with a few other reviews here. But different parts of different reviews.
Yes, Sandra is a hell of a mixer. All the tracks blend and flow into one another nicely...
BUT, and this to me is a big one, there is no build-up to a sweeping climax. Unless you consider the whole thing as build-up. In which case, there is a bigger problem. There is no climax!
All the tunes are too similar in caste, too single-minded.
It's one of those mixes that would probably sizzle on a very loud system in a club teeming with the right vibes. Unfortunately, it just doens't translate well to home listening.
There are no big choons that break the singular flow. No big vocals (or melody) to separate the instrumental 4/4 hammering.
All in all, it's not bad.
However, it's also nothing spectacular or outstanding. Which somehow is worse.
Nothing risked amounts to nothing gained, as well as a disappointing outing. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Touches the heart
This song is great. It touches the heart.Makes me want to cry but in a good way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Slammin'
This song is incredible. Great lyrics, catchy melody/chorus, and a range of mixes for everyone. I couldn't believe the bad review of this song, but then I read his other reviews and got a sense of his taste, which is quite different than mine. I tend to go for deep, interesting and non-cheesy stuff. To each his own, though.

This is NOT a trance song; it's more along the lines of pretty, poppy progressive, and it's one of the best dance songs out in ages. If you liked the Roc Project/Tina Arena song "Never," you'll love this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Woah... this IS a good song!
I can't believe the review that precedes mine.Months ago, I heard the Johnny Budz mix of this song and immediately was hooked! That is the mix that's getting all the airplay on KTU.This song is hot!Aubrey does her thing.Johnny Budz works it as usual.I love the theme of the song and I can't wait to hear the other mixes.I'm getting mine on order now!

1-0 out of 5 stars Bored me to tears from beginning to end.
this song was charted in the top 20 for New York dance station KTU. I usually like what they play, so I bought it. It's atrocious. There's no catch to the vocals that makes you want to sing along, and there is nothing compelling about any of the mixes that make you want to dance. It has a dated freestyle sound with CHEESY, highpitched female vocals. AVOID THIS ONE. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still good after I imported my copy five years ago.
I first heard the track "Loving you more" five years ago off of a Sasha bootleg mixtape from Europe. For several months I searched and searched for the artist who made the track and finally discovered it was produced by a man named Brian Transeau. In 1995, BT had also produced an exquisite remix of a track called "State of Grace." I picked up Ima in hopes of having a CD copy of the song "Loving you More" and its remix. However, one quickly realizes that every single track on both CDs makes your skin tingle with a rush of positive energy. This is definitely one of the rare CDs in anyone's collection of music that frequents cd players and changers even five years after its (UK) release. For me, the stand out tracks (it's hard to choose from all of them) are Loving you more, Nocturnal Transmission, and the Delphinium Days mix of Blue Skies by Tori Amos. Nocturnal Transmission always reminds me of beginning an exciting journey up a winding road in a fast car late a night with a close friend. And guess who's probably playing the guitar in the Delphinium Days mix? (see my review of BT's Movement in Still Life..the UK imported double CD version) Allow BT to take you on a journey with music so good it will bring a tear to your eye. Perhaps you will want to mimic the action of the person on the cover of the CD.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nearly as good. But of course...
I can totally agree with some of the reviews given about BT and the comparison between this album and his others ESCM and MISL. What I think we need to realise is that these songs were written over 5 years ago and have no doubt changed the scene for future artists. At the time, this guy must have been a god! I'm one of those people who hears a good new album and immediately seek previous productions from the same artist. Overall, I am really beginning to love this CD (can you tell I'm listening right now 8-) and I think its definately worth adding to your collection. Listening to earlier works gives you an idea of the basis of the artist, where the guy/gal is coming from. In order of prefernce - I'd buy ESCM, MISL then IMA - I'm not putting down IMA - I just think you need to get to know the artist before you jump headlong into their past. But if you're a BT fan like me, you'll just HAVE to have it. The music is great, beats work in and out, there are melodies which come and go without you noticing, one of the best tracks (and longest) that I have heard in my life (serious) would have to be Sasha's Voyage of IMA - a track that long and that good should be a record! I think I've said enough. Long live BT, PVD, Chemical Bros. and those who shape their own scenes.

4-0 out of 5 stars The start of something big
This was the first album from BT, it's almost as good as his second. Most of the songs are dream dance and very pleasant. Sure he developed and made an even better work the next time but this album made a way for many other out there, just like Robert Miles did, BT also made a wonderful work here. Meliodic and deep songs, very diffrent from previous trance music released. "Noctural transmission" "Quark" "Embrace the future" and "Deeper Sunshine" are my favorites. The very long song "Sasha's voyage" is a masterpiece but check the song with Tori Amos "Blue skies" too, not one of my favorites but interesting. This was perhaps a little bit incomplete and could have been and sount even better but you'll know what was coming. If you like this kind of music, then yiu'll love this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful album!
If I had to vote for best electronica album ever, I might give Ima the nod. Combining lilting melodies with righteous grooves, Ima warms your heart, while forcing you to shake your booty. The way it builds and fades is incredible in a subtle way, unlike the often overbearing transitions in so much trance music. The first disc isn't even mixed, yet the music flows perfectly.

Despite the disappointment in his latest album, you really got to give BT props for giving us this masterpiece.

5-0 out of 5 stars yup
just had to give BT some props for a really good cd after bashing his new cd pretty bad. This is a classic in the eletronic music world and much better then any of BT's new stuff I've heard. mmfcl ... Read more

Enormously popular and apparently indefatigable, trance DJ duo Sasha and John Digweed's Communicate risks market saturation given the number of CDs they've already produced separately this year. Along with Digweed's involvement in a long list of projects, including his astonishing double discs Bedrock and Global Underground: Hong Kong, Sasha's name has become omnipresent on compilations and mix records all over the world thanks to his own GU contribution Ibiza and its ubiquitous club hit Xpander. Still, one feels only gratitude for Communicate, as these two globetrotting turntablists once again show off the unique stylistic differences that produce their trademark twists, dizzying turns, and wide-open flights of rhythmic intensity. Sasha is the straightforward one, putting a heavy hand to use on the turntable, maximizing bass lines and beats while keeping a sharp eye on the fader, forever attentive to the dance floor's whims. His gifted ear pits Killhurtz' "West on 27th" mix against Breeder's "Tyrantanic" with forceful execution, providing sublime closure on the first disc. Meanwhile, Digweed's world is more subtle, filled with shady crevices, slippery transitions, and subliminal melodic touches. The ghostly sample work on Digweed's haunting "Voices: Freelance Icebreakers Mix" from the second disc slices into the Orb's "Once More" with the delicacy of a surgeon. Pieces of songs ebb and flow throughout with unpredictable grace, provoking the sweaty, timeless, eyes-shut-tight club-going experiences that exist in many a hipster's fondest dreams. All in all, this might be the best example yet of Sasha and Digweed's incomparable appeal. --Matthew Cooke ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A top compilation of deep trance sounds
I've been looking forward to this one for awhile, even though it hasn't been long since both Sasha and Digweed released their most recent Global Underground collections and Digweed put out his Bedrock set. As usual, these two superstars create a seamless, hypnotic mix which mesmerizes with its atmosphere and seismic rhythms, building from track to track. While the duo avoid the fun, cheesy trance anthems prevalent on so many other collections, this set nevers gets dull or lifeless.

There are tracks here from usual suspects like Breeder (the magnificent soundtrack styled "Tyrantanic" making its second appearance on a Sasha/Digweed compilation, this time mixed by Slacker), POB, Van M, and Slacker themselves, plus a few superstars like The Orb, Chemical Bros, and Sven Vath. And of course, a bunch of finds from artists I've never heard of like Trisco and Jaimy and Kenny D (a duo whose name sounds to me like the two least popular members of some hypothetical boy band). Plus, there's an unlikely but effective appearance from a drastically remixed Eric Clapton.

Highlights include two mixes of "Voices," the latest single from Digweed and Nick Muir's Bedrock project, a dreamlike track from P.F.N. called "Put Your Earphones On" with beautiful keyboard sounds and a wailing female vocal that'll make you want to do just what its title says, and the tough, funky Peace Division remix of Trancesetters' "Roaches."

This is a quality set, very much worth adding to your collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Incredible mixing!
Sasha and Digweed have done it again with this fantastic collection of tunes. The selection of names on the album are varied and wide, from the Orb to Eric Clapton! The mixing is seamless and world class as always. Tracks easily flow into one another, packed with beats and melody. This is by far their best track selection and mixing, and the sound quality is better than before. The second CD is more aggressive than the first, an almost non-stop whirlwind of twisting beats. The pace is non-stop and tracks easily build of of one another. "Force 51" is a particular stand out: analog stabs and driving beats with a distant vocal sample. The Bedrock track appears twice and with good reason, an errie vocal pattern and snapping cowbell. My only complaint is that the first CD is not as impressive as the first. It's no less amazing, just not as fast. And there are times when there is so much mixing between tracks that the groove is gone too quickly.
