Pure, weightless elegance, Involver is true to its title, as Sasha comes up with a mesmerizing stunner. Two years after the lukewarmly received artist record Airdrawndagger, the Welsh waxman and frequent John Digweed co-collaborator has retreated into remix territory, but with a twist. In an effort to meld songwriting ambition with his feather-light touch behind the decks, 10 stellar tracks were totally remade in-studio, not just blended together. The result sounds livelier than dagger, putting Sasha's superb instinct for dance flow to work. Still, despite the presence of Felix Da Housecat's "Watching Cars Go By" stomper, it's a very even record; themes patiently recede and resurface from the bubbly bottom of the mix. The warm, warbling melody from Petter's "These Days," for example, reappears long after you think it's vanished for good, lifting U.N.K.L.E.'s "What Are You to Me?" into hypno-dance orbit. Songs like Spooky's "Belong" and Lostep's "In a State" breathe the same air, rising and falling with interlocking rhythmic poetry. It's a daze of a record, ideal company for moody afternoons spent staring up at wispy clouds and vapor trails. –Matthew Cooke ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent.
Another great album from Sasha. This album is quite different than any other he has put out. While airdrawndagger was extrememly melodic and trance-like, this album is much deeper and richer. The deepness comes from the extremely thick basslines. I don't listen to music with my bass settings anywhere near maximum, yet I could still feel the bass resonating through me. These deep bass lines make the album seem some what darker than airdrawndagger, yet the album still retains its trance feel. In no track does the album just go crazy--there is a very steady pace and feel throughout the ten tracks.
All in all, this album is wonderful. If you enjoyed airdrawndagger, then you should hear this--Sasha truly has redefined himself once again. The amount of work that must have gone into this album is staggering--each track is completely remixed (from the original parts) and mixed together. This strategy blurs the lines between full out artist album (airdrawndagger) and his previous Global Underground releases.
Go get it now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Soft, yet beautifully intelligent
This album was not what i was expecting. The only other Sasha mix I have heard was his dark but excellent Global Underground: Ibiza album. I expected this to be full of similar pulse-pounding beats and intense rythms. Instead, I got a beautiful mix of... what it is I can't really describe. The album has a very soft feel to it, with very smooth beats, rather than those on his intense club mix.

The mixing quality in this album is extraordinary. The transitions from song to song are impossible to detect. Combine flawless mixing and the fact that he has gone and remixed every song on the album, and the result is that the entire album feels like one complete song.

As for track selection, they are all excellent, mellow tracks with tantalizing beats. My personal favorites are Grandnational-Talk Amongst Yourselves, and Felix Da Housecat - Watching The Cars Go. All in all, Sasha has created a wonderful album that will be remembered as one of the most unique and beautiful productions of the past five years.

Wooooow, what a looney I was when I thought this mix is a bit too much! Too bad I was finding the bad side without ever looking on the bright side (which is far too delicious to miss). 'Involver' is one craftily-turned up mix. Maybe if it comes to it, one of the best this year? Perhaps it is something about Sasha, he always a little intimidated me with his bright musical mind and a drive that carries him through decades! What a geek! But our geek;) One reviewer was right when he said that this is 'airdrawndaggerised mix', well, not completely true, in fact true only in some parts regarding sound structure and all the tweaking involved:D This CD is a 'pusher' for Sasha, his unreachable musical dreams have haunted us for some time, but Involver is taking it to the ridiculous levels of emotional positives and negatives. In short it is slamming! Beautiful! Very fragile and yet wide as the sky! It is almost like love it's so good!
The album starts out with Grand National- talk amongst yourselves. A piece not to leave you sitting there waiting for the next. It feels as a troubling feeling of waiting for something massive to fall down. You want to replay it already? Classic klinky-bleepy sounds, I don't have a way explaining those, with very impressive background work, I can hear several different strings in the background and now someones voice used as an instrument and mucked with, very beautiful, plus a vocal that you always try to reach, Sasha always seems a few steps ahead of you.
Strange, whenever I am reviewing Sasha, nothing but feelings that came from music come out, instead of the beats I hear a bear.
The next track comes in so smoothly it makes you want to cry. Very ancient sounding 'dorset perception' is the beginner of breakbeat on the album. The beats are very impressive, not just your regular break-beat tracks. Some of these originally are 4x4s. Also 'dorset perseption' has a definite Spanish feel with pretty much every sound in the track being a physical piece of gear, and spanish-feeling but dreamy guitars meeting you two-thirds of the way to the end of the tune.
We all know Petters 'These Days'. A piece of music in my opinion so geniously created that it even suits young babies to listen to it. The sound (THE sound everyone knows;) in these days feels so gentle, so kiddish, but then it has wisdom not known to everyone. This music is almost too human, it knows where to hit and what to say. Go away flies, I am talking to the amazonians here, stop eating my flesh and go wait until I am sleeping!!!!! >:(
Now, UNKLE 'what you are to me' is actually an acapella worked into Sashas remake of 'these days', and before you know it, Petters melody comes out again and everything feels like it's making sence. Mind you, for a first listen, this album might make you feel overwhelmed, there is too much to listen for in it, and you will not hear even half during the first take.
My favorite tune on the album is next, it is The Youngsters 'Smile'. Definitely the most intriguing piece of all. It's baseline has got an increddible 'doubled' sound with a million feelings at once. Much attitude and it fills pretty much the whole spectrum. I love that kind of determination. Vocals are used throughout, but they are also used as instruments, they sound like chopped up singing, very chopped up and it seems as if all of them have a place. But they are only background, with a stunning continuos string, it sounds to me like a silver hair for some reason, with light bouncing off of it, must be for its clarity property. Things then change and the bassline becomes this warbled, rippled chopper that sounds fantastic on the dance floor. Plus there are always all these noises that by themselves have little structure, but they sound tasty and fit perfectly with the rhythm all the time. Over all a piece you can always trust. If you like it, why don't you check out Youngsters' albums. That yellow one and the one with a scary monster.
Track number 6 is the ultimate peaker. Sasha himself sais in the booklet that he wanted to make a bigger vertion of the original, and so that is what he did. It has a giant feel to it with a vocal that at times takes up the whole sky. Some people laugh at these comparances, but if we can see far, can we not hear far too? That is why we so much call it a world, a feeling, so beautiful. Does it make us feel peace? The bassline is driving and positive, a comparison would be to some Holdens basslines, there are also a good deal of waving going on and the beat is very precice feeling. After a while it changes into a more 'in-the-club' groove with the vocal still remaining big, a cool contrast. Basically a huge track with even better surprises, cannot tell all.
I was going to end reviewing when one more track came into my mind that could not be missed. UNKLE 'in a state' has been big mainly because of Sasha, as his first remix of it came out. Now Involver is going to, at least for a time, immortalize these times when we all joined as 'In a State' came on, no matter who played it, we were reminded of something greater and real that is. There are female vocals overlapping each other in a smooth fashion, fullfilling each other, climbing up on each others shoulders trying to reach far beyond anyones beliefs. There are also guitars dreamy and gentle. RRRRRRRRRRR
The rest of the album is equally surprising and ahead of itself. I hope it will make everyone smile the way I smiled. It's good

Sasha is back. This is an incredible trance record.

I disagree with "A music fan from Huntington Beach" - ALL tracks, including, in fact, especially, tracks 9 and 10 are excellent. Being an avid electronica/trance fan, I've followed sasha for a while. AirDrawnDagger was a good relase but seemed to be lacking something.... whatever it was, it is not lacking from this disc.

A rare 5 star album.

4-0 out of 5 stars TN 5 -- Corsten does it again
Trance Nation 5 comes in strong after an impressive showing of Trance Nation 4. MOS and Corsten fans will not be dissapointed with this aggresive mix full of great tracks.

CD 1 is by far, in my opinion, superior than disc 2. It's almost like they piled everything onto disc 1 then put all the "iffy" stuff on disc 2 (which is still great, but compared to disc 1 it's hard to hold up!)

CD 1 has a lot of popular club/dance hits that are remixed by Corsten flawlessly. He continues to be one of the masters of the industry.

CD 2 still has some good tracks (Tiesto's 643, Beautiful Strange) but for the most part it's a bit erratic and just not as smooth and addictive as disc 1.

Overall, a great set, I would buy it just for the first disc. I would give the first one 6 stars if I could, but the 2-disc set is hurt by second one.

Also, if you like this, I would highly recommend Corsten's new Trance Nation 2002 release, it is another great hit by the man.

5-0 out of 5 stars The is the latest, greatest
This CD shows why MoS is still #1 in dance music. It is well mixed by no other then Ferry Corsten, one of the best DJs in the world. The tracks are all very good, probably their best CD since TN1.

5-0 out of 5 stars This CD is supreme
I love TranceNation series. It alwasy has the hottest tracks. This CD is no exception. On the other hand, i also suggest Trance Match series. The latest album has lots similar songs. If I have to choose, I will go with Trance Match.

5-0 out of 5 stars Corsten has proved himself a leader of Prog. Trance
System F (DJ Ferry Corsten) is a person that no one answers to in the trance world. With the release of Trance Nation 3 (which I highly recommend), and Trance Nation 4, which starts out with a slightly less melodic beat (but still very good), and this album as a successor, Corsten has proved to be truly great. This album once again shows his talent in even more ways, adding everything from pounding bass and beat in DJ Tiesto's 'Flight 643' to more melodic vocal songs such as Tenth Planet's 'Ghosts'. When it comes to this DJ, it's all good. Like other Dutch artists such as DJ Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren, Corsten is able to seemlessly blend hard trance with and a euphoric, pulsing melody and vocals. It is truly wonderful music for any person interested in fast trance. It is a good CD to start a trance collection. Other trance essentials I recommend are Alice Deejay's 'Who Needs Guitars Anyway' and Darude's 'Before the Storm'. If you like double disc sets, I strongly recommend checking out the Gatecrasher series.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW
What a much needed come back from MOS and Ferry Corsten. This release is amazing bringing up some really progressive trance. Forgive me for saying but i think this is better than Trance Nation 1. That annoying original track warrior is even remixed into an amazing track. Corsten plays with you through out this CD. If you like progressive trance this is probably the best one ever. If you have any heart or blood pressure problems consult your physician before listening.........Im not kidding. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars About time this was released in the states!!
I actually heard the last track, 'Otro Dia', live, at Club Glow in Washington DC where Paul himself was spinning on 12/28/02. It was around 4-5am and he played the track on his first encore..... After dancing for about 5 hours straight to a fantastic set by the genius himself, Paul drops Otro Dia. My GOD. It was a spiritual experience. After being thoroughly exhausted, sore and dehydrated, this beautiful track rose my limp body from the dead, and had me back on the floor, with about 1000 other people going bannanas. This is BY FAR, PvD's best work, and it really speaks to the heart of what this man is all about.

The rest of the CD is a rare Gem. Although not the masterpiece of "Out there and Back", I still give it 5 stars. Track 7, "Zurdo in Love" is so beautiful, although more of a teaser track since it only lasts 1 minute.. I actually let the thing repeat for about 1 hour because it was so nice.. I wrote Paul to ask him to finish this track..

Zurdo is not your typical trance album.. there are a lot of breaks, mellow beats, hard beats.. etc.. it's very diverse and full of surprises.

Buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Pick~
I love this CD~very melodic and uplifting.....if you are a uplifting trance lover...this would definitely be your pick...i love it...listened to it for more than 10 times already...still loves it...one of paul's best....this cd is definitely worth your money...seriously...even my friends who love progressive house likes this cd too....

5-0 out of 5 stars An awesome Soundtrack
Wow, I never thought a movie would have a soundtrack like this, PVD does it once again with his a$$ kickin trance, Definitly give this cd 5 stars, you can never go wrong with Paul Van Dyk.

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes it's true... God is a DJ!
An amazing album to a film that I probably wont see, but Paul Van Dyk certainly gives this his all, and has proven yet again that his talents as a DJ and Producer are First-Class all the way.His tracks "Buenaventura" and "Anamacion" are amazing, but the last track "Otro Dia" sends chills down my back. This is one of his best works... as is, basically, everything he touches turning into Trance gold.It is ACE!

5-0 out of 5 stars A LITTLE JEWEL FROM PVD
This album has a very magical atmosphere, all songs are like spells enchanting the listener. "Te amo" is a slow emotional tune, with charming vocals, voices of playing kids and beautiful piano chords, "buenaventura" remembers me of some early works by PVD with inspired melodies and soft but still pumping beats, "santa Maria" is more misterious and enigmatic, the sounds are dark and spacy, very original, "animacion" is a stunning song with typical PVD beats, whispering vocals and sounds, elusive and entrancing. The album ends with a masterpiece called "otro dia", this is happiness in a song, starts with the sound of a storm and then builds up to the return of sunshine, the strings and melodies are wonderful, it sounds like a cross between "face to face" and "another way", the first time I heard this one I put on the repeat and listened to it 5 times without pause, it gives a true feeling ofhope for the future. All the songs are like chapters of a beautiful book, a book titled "PVD'S HEART". ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Bad choice for first Tiesto CD
I have many Tiesto sets. About 1 GB in mp3 files. Summerbreeze its his first US release. Most of the tracks on this album are his or have been remixed by him. He is a good composer and has done some great tracks but I believe that choosing only his tracks limits this compilation. It may be well mixed but it does not compare to other of his sets. If you really want to listen to what DJ Tiesto is all about try Magik 5 or Magik 6. Magik 6 was recorded live July 2000 in Amsterdam at the Sensation rave (40,000+) and its awesome. Another good one is its famous set from Innercity 1999. These CDs not only have Tiestos flawless mixing but an excellent track selection of the latest music, which is hard to find in the US. I have also most CDs of Ferry Corsten (who is also known as System F) and Paul Oakenfold (who in his mixes uses the alias Perfecto). I consider Corsten, Oakenfold and Tiesto the best DJ/Producers out there but I like Tiesto's powerful, hard and restless trance mixes the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Possibly the Best Compilation Ever
A met a guy on the Internet, and he introduced me to DJ Tiesto. About a month later, I bought this cd, and I signed my soul over to him. That was in late October of 2000. Coming on to two years later, I still pop it in the deck once in a while, and love every waking second of it.

It begins with a deep, haunting intro. Aria's Dido is remixed by Armin, and done in truely perfect form. The intro soon moves into a pounding, melodic masterpiece. After a few minutes, the sounds of BT mix in, with the Libra mix of Dreaming. Then, your ears are exposed to some dreamy trance before Jaimy and Kenny D burst in with the fifth track, Caught Me Running. After totally getting you up and moving, Tiesto changes the style back to the dreamy, captivating trance. Track number 11 is the big hit. Tiesto's own remix of Silence by Delerium hits the decks and makes you wonder what God liked so much about Tjis Verwest. Although outdated and overplayed by now, it was once as popular as sliced bread. After houding the airwaves, the cd makes room for the conclusion, Wonder? by Major League. Not losing any of the momentum gained in Silence, Wonder? plays out with full intensity, and lets the cd finish in fantastic form.

What amazes me about this cd is the mixing is so perfect that I could swear it was mixed electronically. When I asked DJ Tiesto, he insisted that he mixed it live on turntables. I won't hazard to guess how many studio takes he went through to produce something as perfect as this.

5-0 out of 5 stars All Around Great CD
As an avid Tiesto fan I have to say that this CD is one of his best ever. No matter how long I go without listening to this CD, ever time I go back I remember why I love it so much. Perfect workout music or just listening in the car. You definitely have to listen to the tracks all the way through, especially 1-8 to get the feeling Tiesto wants to create. As with many of Tiesto's other CDs though he can never get 100% of the tracks to totally go together. Then again I can only think of a couple CDs I've ever bought that have reached that plateau. Still this CD is one of my favorites. Right up there with the 2nd CD of Nyana.

No matter who you are, if you like techno, you will like this CD.

2-0 out of 5 stars Its an $18 club photo of Tiesto.......Thats about it.
Kinda technoish, not Tiesto at all. I like "caught me running" which was nice...overall i give it a D+. Tracks are lame (I think) lack the ummpff of a 'makes me wanna getup'...more like make me wanna change the cd. Buy it if you have a collection or can spare money but this is def not his best work.

4-0 out of 5 stars It flows....good listen.
No super standouts on this one, but in place you'll get a consistent, well mixed flow with good sampling. A CD that I was able to listen to from end-to-end (a rare thing, these days). ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Where is the originality?
I always associate ATB with something different. His music always has a distinguished ATB feel to it. Although his previous albums were also filled with this trance-cheesiness, they were still enjoyable and rather new to the scene. This almub however is rather boring, you know what to expect. The music style is rather retro, with cheesy female vocals and synth leads with a old school dance melody. What I have come to enjoy about trance music is its unity, you hear the music not the the separate samples as I do in this case. I like the progression, but why make it so obvious? Furthermore, the tracks are quite similar to each other and surely I like to listen to ones like Hold You, the others just dont seem enjoyable. This is not an album that will make you dance, nor is it very good to listen to in a car. But pick it up anyway, you may think differently...

4-0 out of 5 stars More Emotions In This Album
Out of all the albums of ATB, I think "Dedicated" was the best. Maybe a little emotional because it was dedicated to the people of 911. Unlike, his first two albums, I only liked tracks "9PM (Till I Come)", "Dont Stop" from "Movin' Melodies", and "See U Again" from "Two Worlds". The rest seem to put me to sleep. "Dedicated" is a lot different. You really get the feel of the music and relax your mind. I enjoyed just about every track, but the two tracks "I Can't Stand" and "I See It", the vocals tend to get on my nerves. "Get High" is my most favorite. Love the sound of it, very comfortable.

5-0 out of 5 stars ATB did it !
A big fan of ATB, I always knew that one day we all will get to listen to a great music created by ATB. This album proves that he is a great music producer. I have read the reviews below, many people have written against it, and many have said that this album is not a good effort by ATB.

Of course, if you will compare this album with his (ATB's) earlier albums, you will be disappointed. Not because it's a bad album but because it is different from the earlier work by ATB.

If you forget about his earlier albums and listen to this one without expecting the typical ATB stuff, you will love it.

Listening to this album will take you thru all emotions, especially when you are listening to "I wanna cry" and "Hero".

Actually, I think it's a good decision and a great effort by ATB to create a music, which doesn't sound too repetitive. Remember... Tones from 9PM till I come?

This album is refreshing, and you can listen to it while doing anything.

5-0 out of 5 stars 3 best atb songs.
While not atb's best overall album, it contains what I feel are the 3 best overall songs he's ever put out. All of these 3 songs also have one thing in common: Roberta Carter Harrison. It's her vocals that make these songs what they are. He should never stop collaborating with her (and on No Silence, she does a few more songs!!!). These 3 songs are also in my top 10 dance/trance songs of all time: Hold You, Let You Go, and You're Not Alone.

To the people who say Olive's version of You're Not Alone was better, you have to be joking. While the innovative sound and lyrics of the song was excellent, Ruth Ann of Olive is NOT a good singer. Her vocals were scratchy and not smooth at all. She and Olive had a more quirky, off-center sound, and her vocals did not transalate well into smooth flowing, mainstream songs. She wouldn't last a round on American Idol. I guess she did pretty well cause Olive is certainly still around, huh? NO, I think not. Roberta Carter Harrison sings the lyrics a hell of a lot better.

And why is Let U Go on here again, someone asked? Because this version is far better than the version on Two Worlds, and a far different one. He must of realized this and wanted fans to here it again, and better.

One question you must ask yourself, how many other DJ/writer/producers have made as many popular tracks as atb? Answer: None.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dedicated
Dedicated~ ATB is quite different form the first two albums. Howver in this case different is not bad. The tracks are nice to dance and it has a cool and steady beat. ... Read more

At night, Los Angeles shimmers and sparkles like a carpet of fairies. With "Synesthesia," it appears that L.A. native Taylor has created THE trance-tastic soundscape to go along with this glittery town, a shiny double-disc set with no hard edges, only smooth, rounded curves. Moving like a West Coast Digweed-meets-Nick Warren, Taylor has made sure his mix is a timeless collection of favorites instead of just another comatose regurgitation of the latest dance-floor hits. The journey is smooth and fluid, as Pole Folder & CP's "Nightdriver" eases into Quirk's "Yebo" before the pace steps up with the punchy likes of Eyal's "Kaleidoscope" and the slightly psychedelic trance of POB & Boyd's "Luna". The peaks occur on the second disc; first Oko Tek's minimalist "Luminous" drives the beat up, and later John Selway's crazy sci-fi trance-techno "Digital Emotion" will leave heads spinning. Taylor himself concludes the affair; he and POB offer a reflective late-night drive around L.A.'s deserted downtown freeways with "Today." Trance lovers, Digweed-heads, Warrenites, and those partial to a bit of Northern Exposure will find Synesthesia to their immense liking. --Steffan Chirazi ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get better
After listening to both cd's I am left in awe and amazement. Taylor has re-affirmed my faith in progressive music. These are by far the best mix cd's I have ever heard...favorite highlights are the opening track on cd 1, (pole folder never ceases to impress me), and the last song on cd 2, which I understand is Taylor's newest single as well. I couldnt be more thrilled if i tried. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars A Delight For Every Sence...
The word Synesthesia means (in essence) a sence that reminds you of another sence which reminds you of another and so on...Taylor could not have named this mix anything better. Truly this has to be the best progressive house/trance mix I have ever heard. His mixing is seemless...and the the way progresses from track to track his suberb. Too many times in todays dj society you hear a dj choose track with build after build. Taylor has mastered the art of keeping a listener satisfied...progressing with each track as well as picking tracks that progress within themselves. This man can piece together music as though it is a puzzle, and the end result is amazing.
The first cd starts off with a gorgeous tune, Nightdriver by Pole/CP...it has a very organic feel to it. Actualy, the entire first cd does. Tracks to notice are Kaleidiscope by Eyal and Mountain High by Alaska. The way this first cd was produced is shear genious, the way he brings in tracks seemingly out of no where and the minimal though haunting vocals he uses near the end will keep you dancing all night...trust me it tends to get stuck in your head.
The second cd is full of energy. The opening track, A day in the Life of an eastern assasin sets the tone for what to come...the mix from Oko Tek's Tazer to Fisher Project's I get A Rush is unbelievable. I get A Rush has a wicked bassline, and the whole cd is full of super sexy progressive house sounds that make you want to just shed your skin. Listening to this cd made me feel so uninhibited, it was increadible! Tracks to lisen to are Oko Tek's Tazer, the analog build is one of the best I have ever heard, and the last song on the cd, Called Today, Which he co-produced with POB (he also produced Baba with POB back in 98). This cd reminds me of all the times I have seen him, his relentless style that keeps you begging for more.
If you are thinking about checking this album out...DO IT!! Trust me you will not be dissapointed...Taylor is a master of his art, and I can't wait to hear whats next from this cat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stuff
Perfect, everything a Progressive compilation should be. It's deep, it's dark, it's moody, yet at the same time, intriguing. It draws you in, and doesn't let you go until the last note fades away, at which point you're compelled to throw in the other disc...it's a scary cycle. Overall, one of the best-mixed compilations I have heard to date, and one of the few that actually does his livesets justice. Nobody tampered with this tracklisting, it came straight from the heart.

5-0 out of 5 stars Give me more stars...
Absolutely magical CD.
Great selection hitting the right buttons. A must have!
Don't waste time reading the reviews - just get the Taylor's set

5-0 out of 5 stars The question is where do I get more of perfect Taylor???
I've been searching for this type of music for years--and I worked with music for 10 years and breathe the stuff--and I finally found a perfect CD. And by the way, is this the same Taylor as "dj Taylor & Flow"?

Album Description

Ferry Corsten is one of the biggest names in Trance music. He's sold hundreds of thousands of mix CDs around the globe (from his Trance Nation CDs for Ministry of Sound to his World Tour CDs for Purple Eye and not forgetting his two Global Trancemissions CDs for Moonshine.) Ferry's original productions are some of the biggest hits in Trance history. He records under the names System F and Gouryella as well as Ferry Corsten. His latest single "Punk" is without doubt THE anthem of last year. You have to check out the crowd reaction to "Punk" as he drops live at Spundae, Los Angeles' superclub - no other DJ fires up the club like Ferry Corsten.

As an added bonus to the CD, Mixed Live comes with a bonus DVD - this features a 5.1 Surround Sound mix of the set as well as a new, exclusive documentary on Ferry and the recording of the show. Also on the DVD is the full, uncut version of the "Punk" music video and a slide-show of pictures taken inside of Spundae during the show. Mixed Live is the only compilation series to be recorded live at the club in surround sound - just the DJ and the crowd captured in a moment. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Addicting!
I guess the best way to describe this cd is to simply say that its addicting. Everytime I play this cd it makes me feel very happy so in essence I want more of it because of the way it makes me feel. It sends me off into a magnificent journey and It makes me forget about everything thats going on. Its just a great complilation and flows extremely well. It's very versatile as well; you have the whole 9 yards. IE. Dark, melodic, uplifting, chill trance so its takes you wherever you want to go plus the crowd does a great job of helping you get there faster. Definately goes in my top 5. There are so many angles covered in this album it's disgusting. I mean no matter what mood your in this mix has something for you. Ferry Cosrten gives us a clear reason why he's one of the best. Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars epic tracks and brillent mixing
Ferry Corsten put togethere an other great cd with crowd influence from the live crowd it is a most have for any trance junkie. The inclusion of his newest track indgo was genues. The 5.1 dvd is the future of music of as we know it. if you love epic trance american style tis is for you

1-0 out of 5 stars Ferry Corsten s*cks!
Well, after listening and digging on his track he produced called "Rock your body rock" I thought hey why not check out one of his mix cd's? Well, sure enough I bought this piece of work (Mixed Live @ Spundae in L.A.) and it has got to be the worst trance selection ever! First off, the new trance of today makes me cringe and think of Alice Deejay playing and the dreamy female vocales that make up todays trance does nothing for me. What happened to trance? Back in 93' when it was first conceived in the electronica music world it sounded promising it then passed "techno" as the genre's leading form of music. Trance peaked in 1998 then we start getting over produced,Paul Oakenfold style of trance. This version of trance has made it in todays electronica. For one thing top DJ's like Sandra Collins and Ferry Corsten had been around for 10 years and know that this stuff that they play is crap.
I know trance and this is definitly not trance!
If your into today's blip, blip, ding, ding trance then this is for you all you that are old school and those that want to know the true meaning of trance check out these selections:
Psychotrance 1 (moonshine records)
Keoki's Journeys by DJ (moonshine records)
Psychotrance 3 (moonshine records)
Sven Vath's In the mix the sound of the first season

those I feel are definitive trance in the mix, do a search on cdnow for those or go to www.mooonshine.com for more info.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you don't dig this, you don't dig the scene
The set is killer, the 5.1 surround sound DVD is killer, the whole thing is just unreal. Ferry Corsten delivers the goods, BIG TIME on this one.
This is one of my favorite CDs out right now along with mr.deviant's "Techno Obsession".

4-0 out of 5 stars Good CD
The first 5 songs are awesome. then the middle section kinda disappoint( simple trance songs, song selction not the best , etc) then the end section of the cd finally recovers and makes this a quality mix cd. A great feature is the live audio from the club, very cool! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beyond Amazing
Jonathan Peters is in one word, a GOD. There is not much else I can say when I hear and see this cd/dvd set. If only he was recognized on a large scale outside of Manhattan, NY...he is easily one of the best DJ's of our time.

This cd/dvd set brings the heart of the legendary Sound Factory NYC to your home and then some. Something here for those older and younger, classics that will definitely appeal to the old school clubber but still be recognized by the new schoolers. Most of these classics span a range of time from 1996 to 2001, Jonathan Peters did a good job compiling this mix. The undeniably amazing track "Free" by Ultra Nate to the highly kinetic and progressive "Bailamos" by M3 (Matt Darey Mix) show Peters understanding of not only hard new york house music but his love for music as a whole.

The most recognizable tracks on this set will more than likely be, "I Know You Love Me Too" by Chris Raven, "Everytime" by Lustral (Original Nalin & Kane Remix)...two tracks Paul Oakenfold has played a lot in the past. Plus the legendary Tiesto mix of Sarah McLachlan's "Silence", originally mixed by Delerium. And that brings us to the very popular "Not Over Yet" by Grace, a great song, circa 1999.

The first cd is pretty much filled with Sound Factory classics that Factory patrons will recognize straight off but will definitely over please anyone that loves house music. You can't help but get up and yell in excitement when Jonathan performs one of the most unforgettable build ups ever on "Lift Me Up", it just rocks the room. If you are a fan of the house/trance "build up", then you must get this set just for that track, it's that great.

The second cd is a little lighter but still amazing. Jonathan switches out of his hard ny house mode and moves into more progressive and trancy hits. And the one gripe I have about the set is on the second cd. Towards the end of the set he stops mixing the tracks together with the usual expertise he does so well. Other than that there are just no other complaints I can register, this is a 99% perfect set, something you can't find that much these days.

The dvd is also amazing and easily the best Sound Factory has put out so far. For those that don't go to Factory or haven't experienced a real New York underground house club, it gives you a very good glimpse at what Factory faithful get to experience every weekend. It shows the clubs progression throughout the night and day, starting at 3am and ending at 9pm (SF starts up at 11pm on Sat and goes 'till Monday morning many times). It will also bring a smile to the Factory fans face and prepare you for your next Sunday!

Wild, crazy, sexy and high in energy, Sound Factory simply can't be touched, even with the current state of Manhattan nightlife (soon to be hopefully solved by the Fall opening of Spirit (at Twilo), Crobar and Avalon (at Limelight). Together with the insanely wonderful Jonathan Peters, SF will be here for a long time to come and will always be a place where other clubs around the world look to emulate.

Thank you Jonathan, Richard Grant, the whole Factory Staff and Family, you did an excellent job, now "Do it again". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful Trance Anthems from Germany
This mix is superb. Provided by the famous German DJ Talla 2XLC, it will take you on a true journey of human emotions -- a journey whose beauty cannot be described, but only heard. While some tracks are rather dark and ominous ("The Arrival", "Are You Ready"), others -- especially "Relieve My Pain", "Children of Paradise", "Reminisce Over You", "Memories" -- will lift you up to the world of thoughts and reminiscences, where you will see a light of hope on the horizon. If there is such an expression as "music for the soul," then it fits this CD perfectly.

The tempo is not extremely fast, and Talla's mixing is excellent. My only complaint is that the CD was partitioned into tracks incorrectly in some places (e.g. Track 6 starts in the middle of the 6th song). In all other respects, however, this CD is extremely impressive. Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars relieve my pain
in a few words, this cd rocks. it is well mixed by one of the best dj in the world of trance. talla 2xlc is awesome from trac 1 through 12.

5-0 out of 5 stars ICU Scores Again
If you have heard any of the other 2 ICU Generation Trance cd's and liked them, then you have got to get this cd. The Generation Trance cds are some of the best compilations out there (in my opinion). And The 3rd installment in this series keeps the pace perfectly. This cd will take you to a whole other world. It all starts with the song "are you ready" by by DJ chris, which gets you prepared for a journey of such fantastic colors and sounds, and then runs into one of my favorite songs on the cd "revelation" by chapter&Page, though it does have seemingly dark undertones, its all in preperation of the rest of the album and i personally love it! Then its time to take "the voyage" by sean dexter vs. de la ray. This song will take you to the new segment of the cd which is the journey to the new place (world). 3 GREAT song later we have "The arrival" by traveller. This takes us to the happier and more uplifting part of the cd which is very energetic and enjoyable. It seems to me like the cd starts on earth, and then you journey to a new world of peace and unity (hence the words of "reminisce over you") And it all comes to a fantastic conclusion with Electras "Hear me Feel me" Which is a wonderful closing number. Friends, enemies, people i don't know. YOU MUST GET THIS CD. It is essential to me, so i figure it must be good. I rated this cd 5 stars and an (A+). Yes, its my first time giving away a plus ;) This cd gets it because it makes you feel as though you are travelling. !!!!OH!!! and dont skip songs, you will lose alot of the feeling!!!! If you hear this you will want the rest of the GT2000 cds', they are all good might i add.

5-0 out of 5 stars Evil Genius
If you're a fan of the other two generation Trance 2000 episodes this one won't let you down. Not as good as the second episode, but right up there with the first, much darker then both though.

I played this CD for my girlfriend and it made her stomach hurt it was so evil sounding. I love it thought all the dark sounds, especially the voice in the "Revelation". That's enough to send chills down any ones spine. Not to worry though if you not into the darkness, after it reaches "The Voyage", it turns the darkness into beauty, and the warm happy feelings come alive the rest of the CD.

Lots of good hard tracks, very original. This disk doesn't get boring or annoying. It keeps changing enough to keep me interested. I didn't like it too much when I first got it, maybe because of the intimate doom that lingers over the first three tracks, but the more I listened to it the more I grew to love it. Excellent Trance Anthems, so if you're an anthem fan, especially if you like darkness spun into your sets, this would be worth checking out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Haunting Trance
This Cd is the first in the Generation Trance 2000 set that I have heard and let me say that it is some of the most original track compilations that I have yet to hear on a cd. The first 3 tracks are in minor keys as opposed to the major key candy trance that the majority of major label djs are spinning today. The minor keys give the first three tracks a haunting, almost scary mood to them...until track 4 which has a beautiful piano solo before the progressive break that pulls all of the emotion within you to the next level. From there on the mix continues the explosion, but without entering the realm of cheese. Hard to find major label stuff that does that nowadays. All in all If you enjoy anthem trance mixes but are tired of hearing dreaming, skydive, and the other superpopular tracks today, give this one a try. I sincerly doubt you will be dissapointed. 5 stars. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Blue Bar Beats are Best
The Blue Bar is a beautifully packaged 3-disc compilation of smooth sounds. Each disc is individually packaged in its own swanky matchbox casing - very cool! Disc 1 is predominately jazz influnced, Disc 2 is my least favorite with a flamenco, Cote d'Azure flair, and Disc 3 is contemporary house.

Great ambient music, but nothing to get too excited about. Each disc in the compilation contains some standout tracks, but there are also a few misses.

If the $50+ price tag seems a bit too high, I would suggest Paris Under A Grove and Bare Essentials - Vol. 1 & 2.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really cool groovy stuff
So there's 3 CDs in this compilation. A pretty neat acid jazz cd (CD 1), a very chill out cafe del mar-ish CD (2nd one), and a nice light house CD (cd 3) which i think is the best cd of the 3. The house CD is like chill out house, not very different from stephane pompougnac's hotel costes stuff. All in all i really like all of it! Good stuff to chill to.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Blue Bar CD - Very Groovy!
After a brief stay in the outstanding Berkeley hotel and falling in love with The Blue Bar (it's the kind of place you actually feel cool just by sitting there!), I bought myself a copy hoping to recreate a bit of the atmosphere and, in short, was not disappointed. The collection starts off with some chilled-out, downtempo grooves moving on to some funky jazz with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, before finishing off with some underground deep house (check-out the Groove Armada mix of Madonna's Music!). It's all very cool, making for excellent background party music or even just to chill-out to at home with Ginger Cosmo! (a Blue Bar speciality!). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Too groovy for words
Finally! Been waiting for this one for a while! Excellent! I have played it over and over and over....never get tired of it. All the great songs are on this disc.....really camp and fun. Awesome quality for its time; really sounds terrific. Top drawer! Get it before it goes out of print; it's fantastic.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Barbarella is. . . Love!"
"Barbarella," the campy sci-fi flick starring Jane Fonda as a sexy space traveler, has always been a favorite film of mine, and one of its most endearing aspects is its delightfully wacky musical soundtrack. The original soundtrack recording contains the film's memorable instrumental score as well as the wonderful vocal performances that so effectively punctuate Barbarella's story. The lyrics and music are by Bob Crewe and Charles Fox, with the songs performed by Glitterhouse and Bob Crewe. The CD's liner notes also indicate that Michel Magne seems to have contributed to the music.

This CD is freaky, silly, exciting, sexy, heroic, playful, absurd, sinister, unearthly--and a whole lot of fun. The instrumental cues evoke memorable images of the film. And the wonderful songs, so integral to the story, really stand up on their own. The title song with its deliciously wacky lyrics ("Barbarella, psychedella. . .") is full of fun energy. "Love, Love, Love Drags Me Down" is outrageously silly. "I Love All the Love in You" is a genuinely sweet and tender love song. And the final song, "An Angel Is Love," is a soaring and enchanting climax to the score. The vocal performances on each piece are perfectly in sync with the sexy, playful spirit of the film.

The CD also features some great bonus material. There are 5 instrumental versions of selections from the score performed by the "Young Lovers." And there are also 3 radio spots used to promote the film. Incorporating snippets of memorable dialogue from the film, these radio ads are absolutely hilarious. In short, a classic motion picture score, full of color and fun, and nicely complemented by the bonus tracks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love, Love, Lo-ove..Drags Me Down....
...Yeeah, Baybay!

Great stuff from the 60's cult sci-fi cinema. The Glitterhouse seems like they had a little more fun with falsettos than that 'other' group of four guys Bob Crewe played protege to, 'cause you can hear a smiling/near laughing coming thru on the vocals on 'Love, Drags Me Down'; if you listen closely, you can hear the influence of Charlie Fox's bumpy bass lines and 'chick-chik-chikka-chikka-chick...waaaah' electric guitars ala some of the television shows he's done, most notably 'The Love Boat'....Anyhoo, dig Crewe's playboy-driving-a-Karman-Ghia vocalizing on 'An Angel is Love' and the hiss and bite of the snippets of movie music intertwined with the 'Barbarella's psychedelia' main theme. Or, in other words folks, this soundtrack is most cool. They could remake the movie with, like, Reese Witherspoon as Barberella and use the self same soundtrack, it is that good. Crewe and crew(s) were like Burt Bacharach without the whoa-whoa-wohs and piana thrillings. We dudes downtown didn't mind listening to his sound 'cause it had a little rawness and realness branded in it....

5-0 out of 5 stars Sublime timeless music by bob crewe and Glitterhouse
This soundtrack is so brash, colourful and inventive- it's amazing and on this eagerly awaited cd it comes in a very attractive package- it has a poster, trivia about the film and crew and composers and the music performers, and it also has special bonus tracks reprising the soundtacks most salacious tunes in a very cruisy jazz manifestation which top it off perfectly. And then there's the radio spots, 3 in all, advertising the film in its day. An excellent accompaniment to the dvd or video and a great surprise for many who have this s/t on vinyl and find this one of the lushest, wildest most innovative and dreamy soundtracks ever. Thank goodness someone had the brains to put this on cd!

5-0 out of 5 stars STILL GROOVY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS
The "Barbarella" soundtrack on CD is a dream come true. I own the vinyl album and have loved the music for years. The soundtrack flows with the essence of the late 1960's music as in the movie. All the music from the album is on the CD, although, albeit a glich or what, the song tracking does not coinside with the song titles. The tracking is one number off. Number 4 "Sky Ride" shows as number 5 on my CD player but the tracking is corrected when track numbers 16 and 17 are combined (Dead Duck and The Pill). All the great vocals for "Barbarella", "Love, Love, Love Drags Me Down" and "An Angel is Love" are on the CD. If you enjoyed the music from the movie, this CD is a must! This is my ultimate soundtrack next to the In Like Flint/Our Man Flint by Jerry Goldsmith. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredible!
My first exposure to Hybrid was their stirring "Finished Symphony" in the video game "SSX Tricky". I then knew that I had to get more. Everything I've listened to by them I've loved. One of my favorite new artists.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely top class
Three tracks on these CDs hit a real soft spot for me, being blindingly emotional, technically fantastic, extremely intelligent and absolutely inspiring. They are If I Survive, Finished Symphony and Kid 2000 are all tracks of the highest of music calibre, the rest are simply fantastic too.

If you like any form of emotional electronic music, and you haven't bought this album, you are missing out. Words cannot describe how great this album is - if you're reluctant about liking 'electronic' music, give this a chance, it'll blow your mind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply monolithic!
This is by far one of, if not the single best album that's ever entered my life. From a posistion of pure musicality, Hybrid cannot be put into one category... if I had to pick one though, it'd have to be something along the lines of Trance. Get this CD now and enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Phenomenal
I'm having a hard time finding the words to describe how incredible this album is. Suffice to say that I have literally been losing a lot of sleep ever since I got it because I can't see the point of sleeping when I could be awake and listening to this album. It's just that powerful, that hypnotic, that stirring. There is an amazing blend of electronic and symphonic sounds, with some of the most powerful vocals ever put down. Far more advanced than most simple drum-n-bass electronica, the polyrhythms and progressions of sound are simply awe-inspiring. Many pieces of music have the power to touch our lives; few have the power to change them. Wider Angle does. You really won't be able to listen to music the same way again. If there is any justice in the world, when the year 2101 comes around, and we as a human civilization look back at the music of the previous century, we will look to this album as a turning point on how humanity listened to and created music. Wider Angle can move us as a mass of humanity, and it can touch every individual soul like a golden spark. If the tracks "If I Survive" and "Snyper" fail to move your soul, you'd better check to see if you still have one. Quite simply, this is the best album to come out in 5 years, at least.

5-0 out of 5 stars Confidently Awesome Soundscapes. A Must Have.
There are few CDs out there that you can listen to and know the artists have a command of their skill and sound. This is Orchestral electronica that is reminiscent of what you would here in a Bond Film set in the 21st Century. The blend of strings is the best I've heard since David Arnold's Bond Soundtracks however this is an electronica soundtrack and not a soundtrack that has electronica. I would love to drive a European Midsize through the audobann listening to this while my car blows autumn leaves in the air as it passes swiftly. This is a luxurious soundscape. Treat yourself. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Newborn Alphaville
Alphaville has sailed a long trip from their tribut island ( Forever Young) to new land ( Prostitute ). Quitars are come to help keyboards. Alphaville has changed its basic sound much darker and songs are longer than before. If you loved Alphaville's first album, you won't necessarily like this album
because Alphaville isn't anymore 80s synt-pop band. When you hear for exemple Fools and Beethoven, you will know, what I mean.
Prostitute is not easy album to listen through because there are 16 tracks and maybe some booring ballads. It takes long time before you begin to enjoy all album. Be patient and listen all over again then you find how a wonderful musical journey Prostitute can offer you. My favourite songs are Impossible Dream, Ivory Tower and Iron John. Imbossible Dream is a very beautiful ballad for human love with great chorus which can almost reach to sky. Ivory Tower uses Alphaville's earlier hit songs names ( Forever Young, Mystery of Love, Romeos...) skilfully and with good taste. This dramatic song especially its end: "Oh my God! I feel so alone! I am 1 000 000 light years away from home. It seem to be a tragedy. How can I live in Germany. My another house is burning down..." Lyrics are just awesome! Iron John reminds a little Alphaville's earlier hits but it is much darker. Borrow this cd to your friend or library and make you own decision. Finally, Alphaville is not a dead band!

5-0 out of 5 stars Enter Alphaville & enter a world of music and dreams...
My Alphaville collection is FINALLY up to date when I bought this CD and although SALVATION is the most recent album they have released (at the time of this entry), I have to say that it was well saving the best for last and THAT was a HARD choice to make. It is a diverse album full of suprises and experimental sounds for Alphaville. There are songs like "Ivory Tower" that is every AV-fans dream (trust me-I know what I am saying). There up-beat songs like "Apollo." Songs to make you think, songs that make you cry, songs that are for fun and songs that make you dream. Buy this album and you will be very glad you did!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Impossible Cream
There's very good tracks like "Ascension Day" (very powerful track), "The Impossible Dream", "Iron John", "Ivory Tower", "Beethoven" and "Euphoria" (unfortunately there's three minute instrumental in this song before it starts, it becomes better while reaching the end). Anyway the more you listen to this album the more you'll like it. This must be Alphaville's second best album.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Alphaville album ever!
Get over "Forever Young" and "Afternoons in Utopia". Those are classics, but... THE REAL ALPHAVILLE are here in "Prostitute"!!!
I am a huge fan of the band, and talking about the pop music in general - I think this album is the most professional record that has ever been produced. With just over 70 min. of playing time, this album is a unique mix of different moods and attitudes in both music and lyrics. Marian Gold's incredible voice is at its best. It's quite a shame M. Gold is one of those artists, who are left underestimated, as I think he's a very talanted singer and songwriter... I wish there had been more hit singles released out of the album, apart from "Fools" and "The Impossible Dream". My personal favourite tracks are: "Ivory Tower", "Iron John", "All In The Golden Afternoon", "Ascension Day".
In conclusion, I have to say this album is a must-have CD for every fan of intelligent pop music.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best album of 1994 (Perhaps the album of the decade!)
There is a definite crime involved with this album, the crime of neglect. eight years ago America was deprived of the most complex, compelling and dynamic material thus created by AV. One can understand how threatened the American labels felt when they heard this music. After hearing this sound why would you want to go back to the radio?

Okay, enough of the polemics.
Prostitute is a vital album. It reflects a difficult time in the bands' history. The themes presented here are deep, meaningful and stirring. Gold, Echolette and Lloyd don't make this an easy experience - this isn't Forever Young. The previous albums allow you to visit them. Prostitute is a complete experience; one best followed from start to finish.
The sound is dark, mature and far more sophisticated than most synth-bands. I consider 'The Impossible Dream', 'Iron John' and 'Euphoria' to be among the best work they've ever done.

A defining album of the 1990's, quite possibly THE defining album of the 90s. Yes, Salvation is excellent but there is something inherently more powerful in this haunting tome.

Amazon.com essential recording

Rave dance parties had been a phenomenon in London and its rural satellites for years before this song came along, but "Born Slippy" took a growing fad and turned it into a genuine movement. Its inclusion on the Trainspotting soundtrack only broadened its influence, casting an even wider net and bringing peripheral followers of electronic music into the fold. The song makes use of an ingenious vocal, fuzzy and loose, looping phrases of cadence around irresistible BPMs that could inspire the most bashful wallflower to raid the dance floor. The song's influence is such that some have claimed it to be the unassailable pinnacle of electronica. While such statements are debatable, it's instructional to realize that the genre concept "electronica" only congealed when "Born Slippy" astronomically expanded the all-around influence of electronic music. In effect, it's already a classic. --Matthew Cooke ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Short and sweet
While I don't own this, I've heard all of what's on here. And based on the single alone, the Born Slippy single is worth every penny. Basically this little CD contains Underworld's well known classic. Actually this little beauty was my first exposure into Underworld and what got me hooked. In truth, Born Slippy is a pretty simple song. A simple synth riff play wrapped around Karl Hyde's staccato delivery with his patanted stream of conciousness lyrics. Added later into the song is bass heavy beat that in of itself holds most of the song till its climax and ending. Born Slippy as whole shows Underworld's skill as producers and song writers, knowing how to hook a listener with something so simple but something so incredible. Essential for any techno and Underworld fan.

If you were to ask me my favourite movie, or book, or even album of all time, I would not know where to begin. I mean, there are so many great movies, albums....how can you select one ahead of the all others?

However when it comes my favourite song of all time...well at least I can answer you that one. There is a clear cut winner and hopefully you're listening to it right now! (Click on the link if you're not). Thats right, in my opinion Born Slippy is better than Stairway to Heaven, Bohemian Rhapsody, Smells Like Teen Spirit, and George Michael's Careless Whisper...

It's special

5-0 out of 5 stars Does anyone look at the track listings?
Although all of the reviews here seem to reflect the seven-track Born Slippy.NUXX CD single, this item listing is actually for the original three-track CD single from 1995, with the riding lawnmower on the cover.

The world-famous Born Slippy.NUXX featured in Trainspotting is actually a remix, with the original version being track 1 on this CD, and the TELEMATIC remix being track 3.

The seven-track CD single features remixes based off the NUXX remix, and not off the original song.

All in all a great disc and worth searching out.

Being a raver I was naturally drawn to "Born Slippy". It is quite simply a rave ANTHEM. It is THE if not one of the most recognized electronic songs. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why it's an instant favorite maybe it's just the speed and energy of it all. It's a rush, a very confident and honest rush.

So what exactly is he saying?? Is it just a stream of consciousness?? To me it sounds like Karl Hyde is singing of a boy that dresses in drag who he happens to like. Whatever it is about it is my anthem of choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars walk or run with this!
so i just purchased my second born slippy single,i lost the first one at the gym and had to drive 20 miles to get the other, dammit....it is so great!!! if you enjoy really great trance music that keeps going, and going and coming down and going, especially while you work out this is it!! the original born slippy is exciting too yes..but 2. nuxx (deep pan), is so wonderful, and 100% different, as is the dark + long (dark train) version...if you run or walk a treadmill get it, burn it whatever;) and tell me is it not great to get pumped on!! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Midney's best?
...probably, although I'll welcome arguments favoring "Beautiful Bend" and "Evita." Of Boris Midney's druggy soundscapes for the disco round, this may be his only album that must be heard to be believed, let alone appreciated! Beyond his usual rococco string crescendos and cooing disco chorines, this album better makes better use than any other of BM's secret weapon -- silence. After building for several minutes, towering arrangements abruptly vanish...and off we segue into the next theme, which may or may not explain why. Mysterious! Side One's "Come Into My Heart/Good Lovin'" was Boris' biggest hit (a 45 rpm version actually nicked the Top 40 during the peak of Disco Madness, amazing given its nearly eight-minute length, the fact that it was a pretty crummy edit, and the overall weirdness of this material). So what does it sound like? Just imagine: you're late for that connecting flight at Heathrow, you see, and you've forgotten your Thorazine (...every DAMN PILL!) Being rhythmically blessed yet none too tightly wrapped, you proceed to... OK -words may fail me, but the music doesn't - especially the climax of side one, as grand and successful as any disco record ever cut. Side 2, "Love's Comin'/Baby Love" is a cleverly arranged, weirdo riff on early 60's girl-group na-na. Somehow, a synthesized harpsichord succssfully finds its way into the mix. As Boris saw the disco floor the way Salvador Dali saw canvas, the result is delightful - and slightly disturbing. ... Read more

A rising star amidst the Paul Oakenfold school of techno-trance out of London, Dave Ralph's sequel to Oakenfold's 1998 Tranceport mix takes a selection of the familiar and obscure, then shakes, stirs, and pours a serious groove cocktail. The first CD of the double set takes a more familiar path, charting a course through Sasha, Jam & Spoon, and Luke Slater and keying on a distinctly darker dance-floor vibe. Ralph stretches out these tracks, inserting short bursts of atmosphere and tension-building moments of ambience before breaking out the drum loops. The second CD is more direct while making use of a wider and wilder palette, throwing house-flavored beats around like streaks of finger paint in a classroom full of kindergartners. Make no mistake, however, about Ralph's intent. While creating an irresistibly danceable template, the relentless patterns and hypnotic rhythms of both CDs work to create, as the best trance does, a deeper vibe that only reveals itself with time and/or high-quality headphones. The breaks that Ralph engineers are always ideal lulls, allowing the listener's feet to not so much rest as levitate. These little fragments, as found in the second CD's "Toca Me" (by Fragma) or the first CD's Jam & Spoon track, "Stella," give pause and texture to an awfully impressive mix. Definitely a welcome record for those with an affinity for tireless dance-floor drama. --Matthew Cooke ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The reason I spin trance.
OK-- This disc isn't the reason I spin trance, Dave Ralph is -- and while this mixCD set doesn't at all do his live talents justice, it is still an exceptional album.

Disc one is by far the more interesting of the two discs. Here, Ralph works a very dark, deep, and sophisticated groove throughout, building a stellar vibe that comes extremely close to his live sound. The CD is not dominated by big snare roll breakdowns and high-pitched squawking melodies. Instead, there is a bassy, at times even breaky sound that grooves over and under instead of through you. What really makes this CD so wonderful though, are the little surprises. Three tracks of trance and then SLAP! a little Luke Slater style techno. Deep, almost scary Baseline Track from Medway, then PING! soothing, melodic bliss via Resistance D.

Disc two, while not as innovative, is still outstanding. It opens with "Move!" which is perfectly placed (unlike on Sasha's Ibiza GU mixCD) and rolls very cleanly over into "Madagascar." "But wait!" (you say) "Isn't Madagascar more of a closing, disc-ending type of track?" Perhaps... But here is just tickles you to remind you that, hey! it's dance music, and it's supposed to be filled with energy. And it goes from there. This CD has more of a "progressive," and melodic feel than the bassier rhythms of the first CD, but sprinkled with Dave Ralph's signature style. Build-build-build-ahhhh-GO! You just got to love it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dave Ralph on of US best
the CD Tranceport 2 is the latest of the Tranceport series. Dave Ralph blends in a mixture of Euro Trance with a blend of a UK style. The style is a very good one I might add. For all you Euro lovers Eyal- Dreamcatcher, Art of Trance- Madascasgar (Ferry C Mix) and basically all of CD2 is your liking as for CD1 it's a blend of tracks that have no euphoric melody. Although CD1 is my fav a lot of you will like more of CD2 since it has more club bumping beats. But if you do buy it check out CD1 Andy Ling- Fixation, X Cabs- Infectious 99 (Evolution Mix), Resistance D- Feel High are a few of what the CD1 has to offer. CD2 is also great you can totally groove to this CD either CD1 or 2. Dave Ralph is truely Americas finest jewel...his mixing style totally get's Euro lovers into a new feel for a different style. Check out the new Tranceport CD coming out by Sandra Collins the release date is kind of not set but when it does come out I'm sure it won't disappoint the Tranceport series

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice smooth, funky trance from Dave.
Track Selection: Great
Mixing: Good
The Flow: Good

When I first listened to Paul Oakenfold's "Tranceport," I simply didn't find it to be as impressive and godly as, apparently, 90% or so of the rest of the 'electronica society' around me. Thankfully, what Paul Oakenfold wonderfully did was set in motion a series. This series would bring about some wonderful, great new music compilations (all descendants surpassing their ancestor too, in my opinion). The first in line to continue the series is Dave Ralph with "Tranceport Vol. 2", and he doesn't do a bad job at all. Interestingly, he gave his two discs names, one "Departures," and the other "Arrivals."

Departures is the better of the two discs, in my opinion. It has almost no cheese factors whatsoever, something that was alarmingly present in predecessor "Tranceport". Departures makes good use of breakbeat as well as trance. Trance fanatics will recognize most of the tracks on the disc. What can one say, Dave Ralph loves these tracks too, understandably. The last two tracks aren't that much of a hoot, but Dave Ralph throws in two of his own above-average productions here, "Sealed" & "Arms of Orion," and also a special mix of Luke Slater's "Love" which make this compilation at least worth a listen or two.

Arrivals is a slight disappointment compared to Departures. There is some cheese factor present here. I don't see what's so special about the first two silly and heavily overused tracks, they're skippers in my book. Dave Ralph does OK at trying to do new things with this CD, but some things like a dub version of Toca's Miracle in its whole self just isn't impressive. He gets better though, with his own co-remix of "Dreamcatcher" and that good-old "Fiji" song is another wonderful welcome.

So there's my word of mouth. By the way, I strongly feel other DJ's who have more than one disc in their set could make it cooler by just adding a funky name to each disc. "Tranceport Vol. 2" as a whole shouldn't disappoint anybody who buys it. However, if you're completely new to the Tranceport/Transport series, start off with the fourth in the series (Max Graham, baby!). Arguably one of the most cool and qualitative purchases on the market!

4-0 out of 5 stars good but not great.
this is the second installment of the famed transport series that was started by the infamous Paul Oakenfold. As sequels go, some are good and some aren't. There will NEVER be another tranceport like Oakey's, however, this is a good mix. I wasn't sure, since it was so old and I've heard most of the songs well, whether to give it 3 or 4 stars. As a follow up it is good. The format is extended to two discs and Oakenfold's influence is a big part of this compilation. This disc significantly differs from his later offerings (e.g. naturalized). Dave Ralph has moved into the world of minimalist trance that started with Digweed's Los Angeles release, which imho is still the best. As for this selection, if you like the older trance and a good dose of euphoria, then I would get it. If you want the latest music look elsewhere as you may feel this selection is dated with played out tunes. I give it 4 stars because I like uplifting music and having recently listened to renaissance one with Sasha and Digweed I feel that though this comp. does not approach the greatness of that set, it does give me a better feel for how the music was mixed and hence the 4 stars. please rock the vote and happy listening :)

5-0 out of 5 stars A welcome addition to the Dave Ralph saga
Though not quite as deep and eerie as the smash "Resident Alien" disc, this two disc set is true to Dave Ralph's sleek and subtle style. Again, the tracks are often excessively long, but this is (in my opinion) necessary to achieve Dave's sort of twisted dream-world vision. Unlike "Resident Alien," there are a few memorable trance tunes that stick out in the mix due to more traditionally prominent melodies and vocal pieces. Sparkling and haunting, crystal clear sounds with a hard-hitting drive to keep it moving along. More dark and minimalist compared to "Naturalized," but slightly more melodic and mainstream than "Resident Alien." Another winner from this man of somewhat unusual taste. ... Read more

Hot on the heels of the excellent compilations Trance Nation America and House Nation America comes Ministry of Sound's latest two-disc DJ face-off, Club Nation America. As with the trance and house versions in the series (the former featuring Taylor and Jimmy Van M, the latter, Little Louie Vega and Erick Morillo), two DJs are each given a full CD for their wax-spun spells. This time East Coast DJ Johnny Vicious is handed the reins on the first disc, on which he delivers an unapologetically aggressive, pop-trance party classic featuring work from Delerium, Paul van Dyk, BT, and a few of his own self-produced groovers. The U.K.'s Tall Paul takes over on the second disc, using remixed Moby and Fatboy Slim, among others, to piece together an irresistible spider web of fat, sticky beats. This release is another example of Ministry of Sound's taste in DJs, and it brings their latest cause--the takeover of America's hearts and minds--that much closer to reality. --Matthew Cooke ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Ministry Of Sound: Club Nation America
Ministry Of Sound: Club Nation America

I cannot explain how much I love Ministry Of Sound. They always release the best mixes, mixed by some of the best DJ's in the world. When I purchased this CD, I was very suprised. I had heard another mix that Tall Paul had done for MOS (The Annual 2000-CD), and though that his mix would be the better of the two CD's. I was extremely suprised that I was wrong.

Being that I gave a horrible review of CD 2, which is half of what your buying, your probaly wondering why this CD received 4 stars. Johnny Vicious mix was amazing, and could have easily been released alone. The track selection is wonderfull, and it's long enough for a party. But this CD for the Johnny Vicious mix, you wont be sorry.

Johnny Vicious is well known DJ, especially in the NYC area. He has his own mix show every saturday nights on New Yorks WKTU and has residency at various clubs. Ministry of Sound wisely picked Johnny to mix this CD. The mix starts with Delerium's "Silence," which is a trance anthem. Other tracks include Aurora's version of the Duran Duran classic "Ordinary World," Sureals "You Take My Breath Away," and Johnny Vicious amazing (but bootleg) remix of Dido's "Here With Me" (which is over 10:00 long). The mix ends with Svenson & Gielen's (AKA Airscape) "Beauty Of Silence." What I love about this mix is that it starts with strong trance and ends with strong trance. There are not weak spots.

CD 2- Mixed by Tall Paul

This mix is terrible!!! Ministry of Sound has to tell Tall Paul to go in another direction with this mix because this is unlike anything else I have every heard from him. He usually starts with Disco sounding house and builds up to nice melodic trance, but this CD features neither. Instead, it features boring and bland house and trance. When purchasing this CD, I noticed that Moby's "Southside" was featured. This mix doesn't even feature Gwen Stefani. I mean I know that the Southside featuring Gwen Stefani is already a remix, but who wants to hear Moby just speaking. However, even though this mix is terrible, there are a few hot pics. Simon's "Free At Last" features words from Dr. Martin Luther King's famous "I Have A Dream Speak." Even though it is one of the highlights, It still sounds plain. I was dissapointed to find out that the Paul Van Dyk remix of the Thrillseekers "Synaesthesia" is not a vocal mix. But nevertheless, it is still breathtaking. The last highlight from this mix is Push's "Strange World." It's a pretty cool track, but the melody is very repetitive.

PS- Johnny isn't only a DJ, he's one of the hottest remixers currently on the hard house/trance scene. Check out his mixes of Veronica's "Im In Love,"* Chicane's "Don't Give Up,"** and Mary Griffin's "Perfect Moment."*** CD 1- Mixed By Johnny Vicious

4-0 out of 5 stars I loved the first disc, the 2nd disc could have been better
I wasn't too impressed with what I've heard with the second disc mixed by Tall Paul. It wasn't bad but it wasn't nowhere near the awesomeness of the first disc mixed by Johnny Vicious. The songs lacked the punch that Johnny's mixes had. Now that is said and done, on with my review of the first disc.

The second I heard the Dj Tiesto remix of Delerium's "Silence", I knew immediately this cd was going to (be a hit). The production is big, the melodies are excellent. The song structure hasn't been distorted by Johnny's mixing abilities. I liked what I heard. Several minutes later, "Silence" quickly becomes "We Are Alive", my favorite Paul Van Dyk song off his "Out There and Back" cd. I do wish that Johnny used the full vocal mix version of this song but nonetheless I'm happy to hear this song. I was totally surprised to hear a dance version of Duran Duran's "Ordinary World" w/female vocals. That really knocked my socks off. I also loved the trance version of "Here With Me". This first disc in Club Nation America was impressive and made me think of the Saturday nights I spent in Chicago dancing to house and trance music. Just awesome.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of MOS's better sets
This double CD is one of the best that MOS has put out in quite some time. I would give the edge to the Titan on this one although Johhny Vicious played a remarkable set. Tall Paul's set has some of the best electronic tracks ever; Star 69, Push, Synathesia, and makes this set flow exceptionally well. The last three tracks on CD 2 I can play over and over and over again and still never get sick of it. Johnny Vicious tends to lean more towards more vocal type tracks and thats why I have to give the edge to the Titan on this one. Regardless, this double disk set is definitley one worth buying.

5-0 out of 5 stars First CD Awesome
I should give this CD 4 stars, since I'm not a fan of the second CD, but because it's tough to find a complete mix cd that you can listen to start to finish, I owe it to Johnny Vicious to give this CD all 5. Disk one is awesome start to finish. Disk two has some popular dance stuff, but I'm more of a trance fan myself. This CD is from the days when Ministry of Sound actually pursued quality rather than quantity. I highly recommend this classic disk.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great mix from Ministry of Sound!
As any MOS fan would agree they know what their listeners like and keep providing us with new great sounds. This cd is certainly one you should have in your collection if you like dance music. Tall Paul and Johnny Vicious are 2 great djs that put the mix through it's paces and you come out the winner. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars New Fan of Schiller
I was recently visiting friends in Germany and purchased Schiller's latest SACD - Leben after hearing a track on the radio. I listened to it while on the road, but was more impressed once played on my surround system.

I've been a fan of Enigma and now add Schiller. Execellent CD and recommend it to anyone who enjoys this style of music.

I missed the upcoming Dresden concert by 5 days as I had to return to the states. I'm sure that would have been a blast!

5-0 out of 5 stars This CD is Amazing
Modern-day ethereal new-age with a beat. Schiller uses many tribal musical instruments, mixed lightly with synthesizers.
The mixture and layering of instruments and vocals is brilliant.

You can compare the genre to Enya/Enigma, but less commercial (and probably better that way).

By far one of the best CDs I have ever owned. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Oldies, but goodies
I really enjoy listening to this one.

Songs I really liked: *Hi-Gate-Pitchin' and *Derb- Derb both because of the progression, *Sono-Keep Control because it's an all-around good song with good vocals, *Massiv-Who Am I because of the good "old school rave" feel it gives me when I listen, *Laut Sprecher-Omnibus even though it reminds me a little too much of Darude's Sandstorm, I love how it drops everything in the middle of the song then slowly progresses back up to the original beat.Gives me MAJOR goosies!Everything else on this cd was good, classic stuff, too.

The only song that I can't stand hearing is Phat Bass. There's not even any bass in the song! You think it's going to build up to this awesome bassline, but all you get is some cheesy synth notes. It's the cheesiest song I've ever heard because of that.

5-0 out of 5 stars I liked it very much.
I found out about house music and I really liked it. I told one of my friends, and he got me Vol 1. I liked it, so I got this one and Vol 3. I like this one the best. The only two songs I don't like on here were Void and The Launch- I have a better version of The Launch and Void too long (so are Rapture and The Revolution, but I like those songs). My favorite is Blood is Pumpin', and I guess if I had to pick another it would be Who am I. I've read most of the reviews for the Best of House CD's, and I don't really understand why they're all bad...

2-0 out of 5 stars get a 10-foot pole ready...
Unmixed, unfiltered, unrefined. This CD is good for all those of you that would get into this music if only it was on MTV. So, for all you popularity-seeking folk out there...buy up! Better yet, leech money off your parents and have THEM buy it! The rest of us (the people that actually listen to trance because we LIKE it) are busy saving up for Exposure 4, or Airdrawndagger.

1-0 out of 5 stars Should be melted into something useful
Right, let's discuss false advertising. There's just two progressive cuts here, the original (lesser) version of Tom Stephan's "The Revolution," and Iio's smash "Rapture," which admittedly still brings goose bumps a year later, thanks to the sexy, throbbing remix courtesy of Creamer & Stephane K that best suits Ali's husky voice.

The rest are unmixed radio edits of hi-energy/drum roll/breakdown/pompous synth trance, all variations of the Darude "Sandstorm" theme, including his own on "Feel the Beat." Worst offenders "Phatt Base" (which has none) and "Who Am I" (answer: a nobody) and "Palladio" (referencing the strings melody from that diamond jeweler commercial) are an embarrassment to music.

This disc can only contribute to dance by being melted down for disco ball parts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous
In addition to listening to music for pleasure, I dance for exercise, and this CD is definitely worth the price. Some of the songs are familiar (I was very disconcerted to hear the De Beers Diamond theme!), and some of them have annoyingly long pauses in the middle or vocal interludes, but the overall album is terrific to dance to, and fun to listen to.I'm very glad to have bought it. ...
