A wide variety of songs remixed here. The best remixes are Sweet's"Fox On The Run," The Champs "Tequila" and Bill Haley"Rock Around The Clock."Astralasia's remix of "DiamindsAre A Girl's Best Friend" doesn't hit the mark (a jumled mix of drumand bass) and Chemical Emmission's remix of The Ventures "HawaiiFive-O" just plain sucks. The bonus disc is very good. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Funker Vogt: Still Standing Tall
Funker Vogt's newest release into the world of EBM music, Survivor, is a bit of a change for them in some ways while still being stapled with quite a few undercurrents they are known for. In many ways it reflects the transformations their music underwent after the release of Machine Zeit and its subsuquent EPs, becoming more machine-oriented and drifting into a technotronic ensemble of sounds, but it harbors something that is a bit more brooding and gloomy within it that the last releases lacked. Added to this change are also rifts in the normal array of messages that, while still focused primarily on war and the bloody aspects of this portion of the human condition, seems a bit on the darker side. In a strange sense this aspect opened up a more primitive side within a more refined approach to their works, one that took me a few tries to grow accustomed to as the lyrical crown that the songs so aptly wear sank into my mind. Still, after about the fourth excursion into this brave new world, I was instantly addicted to the wonders that were provided after their lengthy hiatus.

Another oddity I noted within this new release was the abundant use of melody within their songs; a stark contrast to the cries of angst when they first shouted their angry tempo into the musical breech. This gave many of the songs a beautiful composition to interact with the gruff exterior presented within the vocal aspects of the song, adding a contrast that worked and providing something akin to ballads in a few instances.

For those that haunt the hallways of Metropolis, this should be something likable. For those looking for something new to listen to or something that expresses the harsh realities of humanity and their struggles against one another, Funker Vogt's antiwar machine might be a venue that you can find enjoyable. There are many places where you can find this out, including some available snippets here and some on Metropolis as well.

3-0 out of 5 stars More of the same (unfortunately)
When i got a hold of this CD i had some pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, Survivor has absolutely nothign new to offer.
I like Funker Vogt a lot, and Maschine Zeit is one of my favorite CDs, but Survivor has nothing new. Funker Vogt didn't evolve any, didn't change a thing, it's all the same beats and samples. Sounds just like Maschine Zeit, minus the great songs like "Under Deck" and "Sins".
I do like Survivor, but this CD is still a disappointment.
MY favorite tracks on this one are "Date of Expiration" and "Final Thrill".

5-0 out of 5 stars This Is E LEEEET!!!!!
Dude, this album completely kicks everyone's ass. It's a masterpiece, wonderfully arranged, mixed, and produced, and the sound is pure Funker Vogt. YEEHAWW. However, there is a problem. Who the hell does the sound clips for you guys at Amazon? These problems are too drastic to ignore:

1. The clip for "Date of Expiration" - Is this a joke? You put in the intro of the song without even playing any of the song???? How the hell do you expect someone to know what the song sounds like if you only play the damned intro? It's just a rising crescendo building to the main part of the song!!!

2. Compulsion - WHAT THE HELL?????? IT'S NOT THE RIGHT SONG!!! HELL, IT'S NOT EVEN THE RIGHT BAND!!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND INEXCUSABLE.

Love the album. Buy 6 copies. Give 5 of them to random people.

5-0 out of 5 stars great
Very impressive show-an album I liked more than revivor, the remix album from 2003. Funker Vogt's view of the world through their lyrics is expressed, and their war messages are very strong. Prisoners of War, Final Thrill, and History catch my attention the most.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Funker Vogt for a DJ
Funker Vogt really left an impression with me with Survivor, as both a fan of industrial music and a DJ I find Survivor to be by far their best release. The quality and production on Survivor is by far better than any previous Funker Vogt release as well, overall a incredible electronic industrial type masterpiece. As a DJ you will find the following tracks to pack your dance floor:

This World (my personal favorite)
Final Thrill
Date of Expiration
Prisoners of War

I highly recommend this release for fans of ebm & industrial as well as DJ's. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not What You Might Expect
Well I got this album because I thought it would be a nice additon to my U2 collection. When I first played it I was about to cry. The songs were nothing like the U2 versions. But after a couple listenings I found some things to appreciate. With Or Without You doesn't have the emotion of the original but it is powerful. One is close to the original but it is a little more intense- I actually enjoy the whiny vocals. New Years Day seems to be the track everyone loves. Well, I hate it. The singing may be allright but the music is terrible- I can't stand listening to it. Pride is also terrible. It starts off pretty cool and then you hear the chorus- awfull. EBTTRT is the best song on this cd. Dead or Alive was the only band that could change the song and it still be good. I Will Follow is pretty bad. It's about as boring as an Al Gore speech. All I Want Is You isn't bad, it just sounds a little evil. Sunday Bloody Sunday is evil. The music is good and the guitar solo is cool, just the singer sounds like serial killer and the backup singers sound like possesed school girls. October is good because it has a drum beat. Numb is allright with some cool guitar. WTSHNN has a nice intro and the singing isn't too bad. The 2nd EBTTRT is terrible. The singers do not harmonize at all. Desire is pretty good plus it's the only song done by an actual Rock n Roll band without the aid of computers. Discoteque is allright as well. I only recommend this cd if you have all the u2 albums or you hate U2 because after hearing this you'll realize how much better U2 is.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant
Tiffany with Front Line Assembly on 'new years day'. That track is worth the purchase.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best U2 Tribute CD You Can Buy!!!!
If you like U2 and you like techno/punk, this album is for you. It's not a bunch of bands trying to imitate or sound just like the real thing. These artists have taken U2's songs and made them their own. They are all very different from the original, but close enough that you can still sing along. A must have for any serious U2 fan.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not too bad...
I bought this because U2 is the best band on the planet ever. Period. And I enjoy hearing how other musicians interpret U2's songs. I gave it a 3 stars simply because they are great songs, but there are some on here that are [not so good]. The band that covers "With or Without You" should be taken... but only after being tortured with their song for a couple of days. Everything else is pretty good. I really enjoy "Numb" -- very [nice]. This is a great addition to the collection of any big U2 fan. If you enjoy tribute albums the same label that put out this album has Bauhaus and New Order tributes too. Both excellent and really live up to being called tributes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Points for originality
This CD would have been worse if the cover bands did nothing with the songs. Most of the songs would have sounded better, but then there would be no reason for this album to exist. It is worth listening to for the new takes on each song. But they are very difficult to listen to, especially for big U2 fans. After a while, though, they become tolerable, and you might even like a couple of the tracks as much or more than U2's versions. For me these are "Numb" and "October." In conclusion, U2 is better at playing their songs than these groups are, but if you are a big U2 fan, you might appreciate the originality of their covers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars TKK Bites Back
On Crime for All Seasons, TKK took a 180 turn after Holiday, moving away from the "go go" beats and 50s-schtick. Here, TKK showcases their earlier Wax Trax style mixed in with their lighter, dancier material. Which I thought was no small feat, considering how worlds apart some of their albums are.

Fangs of Love starts off the album with a a fast, punky groove (much like After the Flesh from the Crow). Dope Doll Jungle has a heavy industrial edge with Groovie sneering in over great keyboard drones. Then Sexy Sucker puts a techno-laced beat and synth work over a warped guitar line. Great vocals on this one. Blonds is another raw punky song, while Lucifer's Flowers takes the cake by adding a classic-style TKK bass line over erie keyboards, nice female backing vocals, and Groovie tellin' it like it is. Great song and the highlight of the album. Yesterdays Void, Feel the Bite, and The Twilight Web are also excellent, while Bottomless Pit feels a little forced, with an erratic techno beat, but a catchy song nonetheless.

The group expertly incorporates a variety of styles on one short album. While it may make for a little uneven feel, I think it works with the content - which is the same as every TKK album (sex, drugs, death, wayard characters, etc).

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't ever trust the words of a stranger
Sleazy Punky Industrial is the only way to describe this album. Thrill Kill Kult seem to be the only ones left to carry the torch of the old funky "Chicago sound" since Die Warzau went MIA, Revolting Cocks got put on the back burner, and the members of Ministry managed to each get their copies of Black Sabbath Vol 4 stuck in their cd players.
As with most Thrill Kill albums, it's the faster songs which are the most effective. Fangs of Love, Sexy Sucker, and Lucifer's flowers are all guaranteed to pull you off the couch at any industrial club (C'mon, the damn thing reeks of clove cigarettes and cheap beer anyway; you don't want to be sitting there all night.) This is their most consistent album in years, and it shows that there's still fun to be had in a genre that's known for taking itself waaaaaaay too seriously...

3-0 out of 5 stars Some killer tracks make up for the lame ones.
Thrill Kill Kult is an interesting band. They have all the talent needed to make them a killer Industrial/Techno group, great musicians and sexy vocals, yet they seem to fall flat with a majority of their work. Alot of the tracks on "A crime for all seasons" is actually pretty good. Yet every now and again there is a track on the album that ruins the last good one. "Super Sexy Sucker", "Lucifer's Flowers" and "Feel the bite" are all sweet tracks but the rest of the album is junk! Somtimes there is a "so-so" track that I could leave or take and somtimes there is just a terrible track that I have to skip over. Its a shame too, they have such talent and its wasted away. Why? I really can't tell you. All the elements are there, the magic just dosn't mold I guess. For what its worth a fan of the Industrial Dance scene will get a kick out of this album. Copy the good songs onto a burnable disc and sell the original copy. Thrill Kill Kult is better rememberd by their good tracks. Otherwise you'll ruin this underated group with some album mistakes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Crime
I was surprised to see Ryko finally re-released this album. It came out originally in 1997. Herein, TKK has sumptuously slid from the high-energy beach disco sound in "Hit & Run Holiday" to a more acid rock sound (yeah, not exactly new territory for the Kult). Before you bang your head, note that this album still has the energetic dance club beat in several tracks (which is a plus in my book). Lyrics are a little more explicit in this new album -- another plus in my book. I'm on my fourth listen today, and it's really growing on me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Keep Listening...It's Worth It
I had never really gotten into Haujobb before downloading "Unseeing" and listening to it a couple times. Oddly enough, I hated the song when I first heard it, but somehow it got stuck in my playlist, and I soon began humming along and enjoying the song. I decided to purchase Polarity, and when I first heard the CD, I was extremely disappointed. At the same time, I wanted to give the rest of the songs the same chance I gave the song "Unseeing", so I kept it on my rotation all night long, while I worked away. Soon enough, the songs began to unravel into labyrinths of melodies and rhythms, which I began to understand more and more as I listened. The whole CD is now one of my favorites, and Haujobb is one of my favorite artists. The vocals are different, and may not sound fitting, but like the rest of the parts of the music, it begins to work in your head, and now I wouldn't be happier with any other style. Haujobb's Polarity is one hell of an album. Just make sure you give it the same chance I gave it.

2-0 out of 5 stars circling the drain
There was a time in the mid-90's where Haujobb made innovative, emotional and texturally rich albums, and were rightly considered one of the standard-bearers for intelligent EBM. 'Frames' is an unparalleled album, and up through 'Solutions for A Small Planet' they were doing good work. But something obviously went wrong after that, because 'Ninety-Nine' was a shockingly dull album, and this crosses the line into simply bad, incompetent music. The best Haujobb tracks were elegantly simple and forbidding, but 'Polarity' is cluttered with far too many half-realized ideas, sounds without ambience, and most seriously, they seemed to have utterly lost their sense of melody. Even the techno-dystopia artwork and techno-geek track titles are uninspired and highly derivative. As a fan of Haujobb's early work I suggest to the reader to save one's money for a recent release with more heart and creativity, such as Beefcake's 'Drei.'

3-0 out of 5 stars its grip just couldnt hold me for long...
I was riveted when I first heard this album. I had never heard of Haujobb before and was simply amazed by what they had put out. It was such a breath of fresh air after a long swim in gritty harsh :Wumpscut: and the innovative but slightly poppy Apoptygma Berzerk. Here was a style I had never heard before. However, after hearing some of their other albums, Polarity just could not hold my attention anymore, and I am loathe to put it in my player over Solutions for a small planet, '99, or Vertical Theory. I give it 3 stars. Its kind of a progression between albums. Myers was experimenting with yet another change in Haujobbs sound but he didnt quite get it right. He comes much closer to perfection in his follow-up; Vertical Theory.

Thats my two cents. Peace.

4-0 out of 5 stars A nice stylistic change
I think this album is really good. To compare it to old Haujobb doesn't do anything much justice because it's not the same thing. Granted, albums like Homes and Gardens and Freeze Frame Reality were kickass, you gotta face it, times and bands change. Look at Front 242, for example. They've practically lost their minds! That being said, I have to point out to the music fan(s) from Denmark, I suspect it's the same person doing this, because it's all bad reviews and his (?) only complaint is bad singing (which I don't think it's all *that* bad) and it's not old Haujobb. As I said, bands change, and if it's the same person person posting all those messages, ignore him.

3-0 out of 5 stars Meh.
This album, at first, seemed like a godsend -- it was my second Haujobb CD, and I had never experienced anything quite like it. However, now that I have picked up some of their earlier works -- Solutions for a Small Planet, Matrix, and Ninetynine -- this album took a serious hit. Some tracks, like Sinus Problem and Boom Operator and Demon still aren't bad, but they lack the force and talent of their other work. Vertical Theory, too, is starting to look worse with each passing day. While Polarity isn't a bad album in its own right, it's pretty bad for Haujobb. The album has good beats and a sorta dancy feel, but it's definitely not Solutions for a Small Planet. If you're a Haujobb fan, it's worth picking up, at least to hear it, although I'd definitely recommend getting a cheap used copy. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Remarkable Blend of Industrial and Darkwave
I tend to be an EBM addict by nature, so the fact that this CD was not a bubbling cauldron of adrenalin-rush electro was an initial barrier to enjoyment. However, the CD has its merits, and to be fair, it has quite a lot of them.

The music is basically an Industrial base, augmented by Darkwave melodies. It is well structured and enjoyable, with great sonic variety.

What costs Mr. Din a point is the horrendously distorted vocals, which are, quite frankly, excessively twisted and make Johan Van Roy of Suicide Commando sound like an Opera Singer.

Overall, this album is above average electro album with a dark edge. However, it is not a club album, so dont look here for VNV Nation part 2.

3-0 out of 5 stars decent electronica
Din Fiv is new to me. I ordered on whim, because I heard it at listening station at some store. It sounded good, infact it sounded great. However, when it arrived to my home and I got to listen to it in full, I was a little disappointed. I found the lyrics to be trite at best. It had some great beats but a lot of of it lack the flow of most songs on the album. musically, when it was good it was great. The good tracks were few and far between.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing synth pop/dark wave!!!
It's hard to believe that Din_Fiv (pronounced Din "Five") is a "side project" for Informatik's front man, Da5id Din... From beginning to end, this CD is perfect, in my opinion. While very diverse from track to track, ranging from dark, moody EBM (Through The Looking Glass/Conspiracy), to more light hearted, inspiring, and club-friendly songs like "We Are" and "Infinite Paths" with Trance-like and ethereal programming, all songs are catchy with a good beat, and have meaningful and insightful messages belted out in bone crushing deep vocals, yet it never get's harsh like a lot of EBM/Industrial can, giving it a broader appeal. The sound is definitely similar to more recent Informatik. I highly recommend this CD - it's excellent throughout, and definitely stands out from a lot of the other one-hit-wonder synthpop [stuff] out there these days.

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid album by Din Fiv with meaningful lyrics
Din Fiv is a side project of Informatik, and it shows as the two have a similar sound in certain aspects. The main difference is the lyrics and the overall slower pace of the music. The music is still purely electronic, but is more atmosphereic with less bass than Informatik. Lyric-wise, Escape To Reality has a great theme that deals mostly with the concept of life, death, and making the most of the life one has to live. The best track on here has to be We Are, it's the main reason why I bought this album. If you like Informatik, give Din Fiv a try, but if you're looking for something hard and fast to dance to, Escape To Reality isn't the album for you. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars For Dub Heads
As a dub purist, I feel I should warn all dub-heads about this
CD. The front & back covers are very seductive for dub-heads, but be warned: there is no clue on the outside that this CD is
LOADED with vocals; and if you're a dub-purist, you probably
prefer your dub clean of vocals. Once you open the CD, 5 of 12 songs are actually labeled as having vocals, so you breathe a sigh of relief and program for the other 7 songs...only to find, to your dub-purist revulsion: even THOSE songs have too many vocals. So, while the music itself is quite good, Dub-Heads should be warned that this CD has WAY WAY WAY too many vocals to truly be considered a "dub" CD.

4-0 out of 5 stars Supersoul Stylin'
RUOK- remixed, redefined, redone. If you like RUOK this is another great installment on the MBM catalog. If you have a surround sound system, look into the DVD as well. Music in a synthetic form never sounded so good. If you like the Manifesto and Mr. Dangers himself this disc is not to be overlooked.

1-0 out of 5 stars duped again.....
I'm an old, I mean old fan of MBM... Which is why I drove way out of my way to aquire this album... In Dub, Indeed... the only thing this album has to do with "DUB" is it's title track... the fact this platter was spun out is testimony that Jack needs a bigger boat for his CD release parties. Jack, you wouldn't know dub if it bit you square on the ass...

5-0 out of 5 stars Jack is back, yet again.
Jack Dangers is one of the few "industrial" (Read: EBM) pioneers who has managed to remain relavent today. While the current sound of Meat Beat Manifesto bears little-to-no resemblance to the sound of old (for that, do check out the recent Storm The Studio RMXS however), it is still recognizably a Jack Dangers production as familiar sounds and drops occur throughout. There are even a few political tracks and some speak-and-spell vocals to take one back to the days of Satyricon.

Vocals are probably the best addition to this release versus it's sibling RUOK. This "dub" version includes the toastings of one DJ Collage. His vocals are a great addition, but do not overbear by appearing on every track. Instead, he appears on just 6 tracks preventing his stay from being overdone. It helps to break up the CD and gives flow. On several of the tracks his toastings are further cut up and reworked to help fit within the track instead of simply layered on top.

This release is a worthwhile rendering of the Meat Beat Manifesto name. There is even a DVD version out featuring 5.1 sound (for those lucky enough to have such set ups), plus visuals by Ben Stokes of DHS that should be worth checking out as well.

Tra-la.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dubtastic beats, killer production...another MBM gem!
If you've heard the dub TinoCorp has been releasing, you know how killer these tracks must be! Heavy basslines with plenty of groove, some great toasting on a few of the tracks, and the production we've come to know and love from these guys!

The reinterpretations on this album make the originals into altogether different songs, expanding the already diverse scope of the recordings.

Jack Dangers is the master of the beat! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars TKK Does It Again!!
Listen up Lovers and Killers, if you don't have this one yet, grab your keys, jump in the car, and drive to your nearest store, (or hit 'add to shopping cart') because you are missing out. First off, VERY FEW cd's grab my attention on the first song, but this one did it. This is probably tied with Confessions as my favorite album. The only thing that would have made my experience with this CD perfect, was if I'd been able to get out of pressing obligations and make it to the Burning Dirt Tour's Boston stop. Oh well, anyways, as others have already said, whether you're new to the band, or an old TKK follower, you can't go wrong with this one. I love the range of moods used, from the pulse pounding "Radio Silicon" and "Temptation Serenade", to the laid back "Girl Without a Planet" and "Jungle of Love", to the almost Hip Hop style "Hour of Zero" (this is a new one even to long time TKK fans). Throw in the hypnotizingly ambient "Theme de Luna", and you've got a very stylish and yet another, highly enjoyable, TKK venture. So, be one of us, and get this album...

5-0 out of 5 stars Magically Delicious
With the uncatagorizable TKK -- a band renowned for change and diversity -- each new release is met with a sense of excitement and uneasiness by the fans because they DON'T know what to expect. That's no different with the new album The Reincarnation of Luna; after all it's been 4 years since they released an album. The end result of this time off is a very polished album with a wide range of moods and styles. The first song "Radio Silicon" has an aggressive dark sound with a slight flavor of Chemical Brothers mixed in the noise. This is bound to throw new and old fans into frenzy at one of TKK's energetic live shows. From there it changes directions radically, you get Trip Hop, Funk, Salsa in form of the colorful "Heelz Afire", loungeish tunes, a Dance song that carries a faint Bladerunner sound, angry rock (with amusing lyrics like, "Why don't you just stop living"), and tranquil ambient. I know I'm inserting these songs into some categories here but that's because it's very difficult to describe many of them. TKK has their own way of doing things but still stay true to any particular style they choose to toy with, or make fun of.

But are these songs any good? In a word: "Yes!". Like almost all their albums it really depends on who you are, so, take it with a word of caution. If you're a TKK fan and have enjoyed TKK over the past 10 years then your sure to like most -- if not all -- of these songs. You might even find Luna to be their best album since 1991's Sexplosion!. If your new to TKK you'll find many things to enjoy in Luna if you choose not to take it seriously. If your looking for a display of darkness and horror shows then you might want to check out TKK's first two albums (I see good spirits... and Confessions of a Knife) or risk disappointment since you won't find much of that here.

With all the wild fun, colorful and often very amusing lyrics, you cannot go wrong with Luna.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST TKK ALBUM EVER!!!
if you love the cult and you don't own this disc you are SERIOUSLY MISSING OUT.

my favorite album used to be 13 above the night.
(primarily because it mixed up all of their styles on one disc)

anyway,
the reincarnation of luna, pretty much takes 13 above the night, throws it on the ground, and urinates on it.

GET THIS ALBUM NOW!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cinematic Blasphemy, Carnal Rites, and Loungey Weltschmertz!
Well, I wasn't sure this album would ever see the light of day. Their first studio creation in 5 years, alotta water's passed under the bridge. Whatta relief! This disc is sensational in every sense of the word. The production is seamless, the clarity of sound surrounds you. While still a little slim on the out-of-context, dialogue-bytes for my taste, there's more of 'em here than on "CrimeForAllSeasons". An element that I consider part of their definative signature.

To me, THE REINCARNATION OF LUNA is TKK's most musically accomplished work. McCoy's instrumentation is impeccable, and references most of his strongest muses, namely goth/industrial, lounge/jazz, techno/disco, and cowpunk/metal! Mann's vocalizing is also taking some interesting new turns here. Variations abound. Just having seen them on tour, I can attest to the fact that the BombGangGirl featured on this record: Lady Cherrie Blue is as effective a singer as she is a dancer. Similar to Cinderella Pussy.

The highlights here: "Hour Of Zero". Shockingly relaxed, but dark and cryptic. Mann's delivery is new, and refreshingly pure on this hip hop hybrid. Blue's soulsister backups are top notch here. Great melodies. Melodies!!!

"Untouchable Class" takes up where "SexOnWheels" & "The Golden Strip" left off. Guitar-heavy bump&grind deluxe. Great nasty lyric.

"Temptation Serenade" and "Flesh Playhouse" are dansefloor anthems at TKK's kinetic best. Hypnotic and multi-coloured.

"Girl Without A Planet", and "Heelz Afire": Dark, sleazoid, lounge-lizard, extravaganzas. Symphonic in density, maudlin AND hysterical simultaneously!

"Bettie" - Jazz in hells waiting room.

A spectacular comeback, and consolidation of their strengths.

Get THE REINCARNATION OF LUNA. You'll be glad you did.

2-0 out of 5 stars so-so
I absolutely love TKK, but this is probably my least favorite of their cds. I prefer the 13 above the night era. Some of the songs are excellent, but the majority of them fail to reach orgazmic potential. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Haujobb release
Haujobb is a good band, although the material varies in quality too much to be called great. Nevertheless, there are some really outstanding tracks on this disc, and if you were to buy only one Haujobb album, I'd recommend this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Probably the most important EBM/electro release of the 90s
In a genre that was until then bogged down with the black-clad Rudy Ratzingers and Claus Larsens of the world, SFASP was a catastrophic push forward, pulling in elements of drum'n'bass and ambient into an otherwise creatively stale form of music. The vocals are undistorted and subdued rather than gothed up, and this works to incredible benefit. The sci-fi/Blade Runnerish theme of the album works well for it, despite not being exactly the most original idea in the world(lyrical theme is hardly the fruit of the album, which is altogether and uniformily the music.) It has a few very well done aggressive moments, but is surprisingly serene on the whole, Myer and Samardzick(I don't remember how to spell the guy's name) choosing a more soothing mode of sonic delivery than in previous albums, neither of which can hope to compare to Solutions. I strongly suggest you buy this one first if at all interested in Haujobb, and Cleaned Visions or Ninetynine if interest persists. Their first two are nothing more than the conventional psuedo-puppyish tripe that SFASM succeeds by trampling over.

5-0 out of 5 stars With Visions of Electro-SugarPlums Dancing In My Head
When listening, one sometimes finds themselves troubled when attempting to convey the exact nature of the melodies crafted, with the efforts to describe the landscape of the world that they've tuned into seemingly touching on it briefly but not truly. Simply saying that something is EBM music, for instance, and that it utilizes distortion to makes waves in a pool of sound works well, but it also describes a million different variations of melody. So, when touched by an enigmatic piece, what is one to do? Sometimes, one has only to close their eyes and envision the terrain that the speaker seeks to craft in order to identify the make and model progressing outward, letting the art of description reign supreme instead of the art of dissection. This will sometimes lead one into a world where feelings, they pound away at the earth like droplets of water falling from the skies, or where hearts, they craft a tedium of thoughts and projects. In other realms, however, there are darker visions, places that seem to be dwarfed by steel and shadows, and that seem cold and calculated in their precision. These are places without the feelings of bliss and that question purpose, showcasing tidal waves of the bleakness. Herein is where Small Solutions sits, crafting a world that is much more of wire than of man.

Through outlets of oddity and the induction of sounds that normally aren't associated with the art of melody, Haujobb creates a sand and surf where electricity seems to flow freely and where thought patterns become a conduit that drifts into static sunsets. Here, machine speech can be heard in a wilderness of sound and a world of mesh sandcastles can be seen unfolding on a beach granulized by pulsating sonic waves. The press of cold and unfeeling terra, hardwired into distorted glimpses of vocalization moving to a sonnet of drumming pulse, mark the achievement of computerization and flesh mingling, touching for a moment and telling tales that speak of new worlds and old sadness. In its own right it is something unique and that can be measured in both a sense of awe and wonder, with notations made about beautiful additions splashing against the bleak, becoming something worthwhile for an audience to ingest.

Perhaps the album will take more than a simple "once over" to understand and perhaps it will take many spins of the mental dial in order to find yourself addicted to it, but that time will come. Many say that it does exactly that and that this opinion is not alone, that it takes time to seep into the cranial hemispheres and begin to weave its web. Once it is there and once it is speaking, however, this piece of electronic music will find itself in rotation, asked to craft worlds where shadows speak often.

5-0 out of 5 stars one of the best electronic albums of the 1990s
It's sad that this group is pigeonholed into the "electro/industrial" genre by the media, most critics, and even fans. If you enjoy electronic music, or even modern music in general, once you give this album a few spins there is no going back. Haujobb began their career in the early ninties, sounding more like a Skinny Puppy or FLA knockoff, but they quickly got off that track and have been wonderfully innovative ever since. Gradually, this band IS being discovered; I recently attended their show with futurepop darlings VNV Nation in Los Angeles and the venue was packed with a couple thousand people. Haujobb played their set before the headliner VNV Nation, and got a better crowd response, which is almost unheard of!

Musically, this album is hard to pin down. It slightly reminds me of Photek, Portishead, Matthew Herbert, Front Line Assembly, and maybe soundtrack stuff like you'd hear in Alien movies. Like Portishead, this album takes grip of time and has its way with it. It's dark and futuristic like the best FLA albums, and much of it is tight, spacey drum'n'bass. But in the end these comparisons fail, because Solutions For a Small Planet is just so unique.

3-0 out of 5 stars Cold and Futuristic
I have to also confess that I picked this CD up on the strong recommendation of a friend and it's the only Haujobb CD I own. I did have a bit of a tough first couple of listens, but after that, it really grew on me. Really, really grew on me. Tracks like 'Journey Ahead', 'Depths', 'Distance', 'Deviation' and 'Nature's Interface' were heard in my apartment and my car over and over and over and over again. And maybe that's what did it. Or maybe it is overly surgical, mechanically cold sonic structures found on this disc. Or maybe I just got bored with it. But for whatever reason, I haven't been able to listen to this disc at all. And maybe, that's left a bad taste in my mouth. And maybe this disc really is better than three stars... ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Defenitley worth listening to. Skinny Puppy with a twist
This Album covers alot of Skinny Puppy tunes, All the artists who are on the cd have done a good job with the version of the songs. Just dont expect the true Skinny Puppy sound and feel. Seeing as Skinny Puppy is dead this is a must to ad to your collection of Industrial tunes.

1-0 out of 5 stars 1/4th Star should be a rating option
This is what happens when you get a bunch of wanna be Industrial musicians together and ask them to cover songs of Industrial Gods.
Granted some of the artists on here are the real deal such as Mark Spybey, but then you got a bunch of Euro dance dorks such as Spahn Ranch, Electric Hellfire Club, and the like who don't even deserve to have a stab at a project such as this.
What the heck happen, did Britney Spears' manager get the rights to Skinny Puppy intellectual property and decide it would be a good idea to collect the worst Industrial Spin off bands together and make a Skinny Puppy tribute album?!?!?
Actually a Britney Spears or NSYNC version might actually be an improvement.

Buy this USED, only if it is a must have for your collection. The Dead Voices On Air and the Download Track are worth the $1.60 at least.

4-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Titled, but fair remixes
This album is getting ripped to shreads and honestly it's time some gave it a fair shake. Okay, so it isn't Skinny Puppy, nor would I take it a a 'tribute' album. It is a remix album much like "Dystemper" (which also gets ripped into alot). If your a fan of Puppy and the more b-side/experimental side of them, as I am, than you might enjoy this album for that whole reason. I look at it as a tribute/remix album. This album is mostly good, with a few dull tracks. I wouldn't suggest picking it up at full price, but if you can get a discount than add it to your Puppy collection. I like it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Fecal Matter
This is one of the most worthless things ever recorded. All the newer versions of these songs suck and capture nothing resembling the original recording. It would have been better had the recorded nothing. Or did covers of Nsync. I now feel retarded from having heard it. I'm so very lucky that i never bought or even considered it. It was the only birthday gift I've ever given back.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pure insult
Well, I've only listened to a small clip of this tribute album, thanks to RealPlayer, and I can already tell how much I would hate it. If you haven't had the sheer pleasure of listening to Skinny Puppy before, this isn't the way to go. Cleanse, Fold, & Manipulate is my personal favourite followed by Bites. The next best thing having lunch in the cemetary is listening to Skinny Puppy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best CD single I've ever bought !
This is a MUST for any KMFDM fan! Aside from the original album mix of Brute, which of course is amazing, this also contains 3 great remixes and a killer B-side remix of Revolution. The Kun$t and In Your Face remixes of Brute seriously kick, although the In Your Face remix is not very different from the original mix. The Punch remix kicks butt too, but has an added element of funkiness to it. And to top it all off, you get Revolution II, which is in my opinion the actual reason to buy this CD... the original mix of Revolution was good, but this remix is GREAT! Absolutely indispensible... I could listen to the CD for days on end. If you like KMFDM, consider your life devoid of meaning until you own this album!

5-0 out of 5 stars Part 2 is even better then part one!
Usually Part of an unrealesed collection is what did not make it one the first one. In this case, Total Terror Part 2 is even better. The early songs are a bit primitive but then again this is an awsome begining for the one of the godfathers of industrial music. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great EBM album!
Terrance Fixmer and Douglas McCarthy are two names synonymous with electronic music. Fixmer is a well known Techno artist whose releases sell out in stores faster than they can be ordered, and McCarthy was the front man in the Industrial/EBM pioneer band Nitzer Ebb. To say that when these two got together to do electronic music it would be incredible is a violent understatement. With their combined musical knowledge, Fixmer/McCarthy are poised to unleash their electronic assault on the unsuspecting masses. Corrosive, explosive beats, infectious sequences, and aggressive melodies are sure to disintegrate any dance floor.Buy or die:) ... Read more
