5-0 out of 5 stars A Breath of Fresh Air!
I've been a fan of Air since hearing the beautiful soundtrack of Virgin Suicides, Talkie Walkie just seals my admiration even more. This album has it all and should help the group gain an even bigger following. If you think Air is just a robotic electronic band then think again, Talkie Walkie is full of acoustic instruments and vocals giving it a very warm human element and alive feeling. I recently saw the group live in New Orleans and they were fantasic, the set consisted mainly of songs from Talkie Walkie which sounded as good live as on my car and home systems. From the sweeter than sweet Cherry Blossom Girl which could have been included on Virgin Suicides to Surfing On A Rocket with its Lennon-style vocals and lyrics could easily be the new cover for the bomb launching scene of "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" and Venus is Pink Floyd revisited, the rest of the awesome cd is pure Air at their finest. If you're looking for music with emotion, intelligence, rich sound and punch (to keep your sub-woofer happy) this is the one album that's worth every penny and more. The songs are addictive and you'll be listening to them again and again. Merci beau coup Air!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for Ads, Better for Music Lovers
If there's one thing that can definitely be said about Air's latest album, it's that it's pretty. In fact, it's damn pretty. So pretty, in fact, that one has no problem ignoring the relative lack of depth or vapid lyrics. But by now, anyone familiar with Air should be used to those things anyway. Producing a major electronic hit with 1998's 'Moon Safari', Air became the European princes of cheezy make-out music, and with a knack for catchy beats, their songs had no trouble making their way onto GAP commercials and the like. After a few awkward follow-ups, Air's latest finally surpasses their debut, embracing a more ambient aesthetic that ditches lust for a seductive calm, a turn marked by tracks like the whistle-driven 'Alpha Beta Giga' being used in a recent Starburst commercial and 'Alone in Kyoto' appearing in Sophia Coppola's 'Lost in Translation'. Gone entirely are the cloying, vocal cameos that marred much of 'Moon Safari'. 'Talkie Walkie' consists of an even mixture of straight forward electronic-pop and soothing instrumental pieces. The smooth beats melt into electronically-enhanced, French vocals, often with less hi-tech instruments such as banjos providing the necessary rhythym. The more energetic tracks like the aforementioned 'Alpha Beta Giga' and the superb 'Surfing on a Rocket' easily surpass any of their prior work, while more ambient tracks like 'Run' and 'Biological' keep the album moving between the singles with beautiful chill-out pieces. Though 'Venus', the album's first track, is disconcerting in its emphasis on Air's worst tendenies, the rest of the album is thoroughly enjoyable, and, I suspect, will be heard in films for many years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ongaku Kerie (Beautiful Music)
I was loaned this album while at the Gojo Guest House in Kyoto. I listend to it all day while I wallked about town. It was pure magic. The perfect touch to the melencholy beauty of Japan on a rainy day. This album is amazing. It holds a special place in my heart, helping me to recall the misty(sic) streets of Kyoto.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing.
First off. I'm listening to this CD right now on my computer. So the poster below isn't entirely correct...

I first heard Air on the Lost in Translation soundtrack. Alone In kyoto was such an amazing song that I ordered this CD and Moon Safari, and I'm definately not dissapointed.

Standout tracks:

Venus, Cherry Blossom Girl, run, Another Day, Alpha Beta Gaga and Alone in Kyoto.

That's 6 excellent songs, a true rarity when buying a CD these days. I can't tell you the number of times I've bought a CD and there were only 1-2 listenable songs. So sad.

As far as comparisons to other artists today, I've heard them contrasted with zero7, but I think they are much more original and better songwriters by far. Hell their lirics are pretty basic and non sensicial, it's the complex melodies that distinguish Air above their apparently tone deaf competition.

I hope they keep putting out CDs.

4-0 out of 5 stars fluff... yet good
I will start of by letting you know that "synth pop" (or whatever you would classify Air as) is not my normal thing. Normally, even one of those two words would be enough to make me run away screaming, but something about this album caught a hold of me and refused to let go.

A friend of mine kept playing this when I was around and like some sort of disease, it just ate into me somehow! Consider yourself warned.

The songs are catchy and happy, and yet they still manage to invoke an introspective feeling that most "pop" doesn't. This quality makes it great background music, or music to just chill out to. Put this on at a party and people will notice it.

In particular, the strech of songs from 'Mike Mills' (probably my favorite song) onward really stand out. The songs flow and complement each other helping to create an overall ambiance that maybe you wouldn't expect from this sort of music. One of the album's biggest strengths comes from it's simple diversity. Air use a number of different instruments / electronic sounds in a number of different ways. I'm pretty sure I even heard a banjo in there somewhere, and I think we can all agree that banjo's are pretty damn cool.

Yes this ablum is "fluff". The lyrics will not stimulate deep conversations and the music isn't complex, but sometimes all you need is fluff. ... Read more

On his new CD, named for a 7th-century freedom fighter, the Algerian mixmaster DJ Chebi i Sabbah takes the music of the North Africa and Moorish Spain on a magic carpet ride that floats electronica/techno effects over Berber, Jewish, Black African, and Arab instruments and genres, with vocals by some of world music's most evocative female singers. The enchanting rai vocalist Cheba Zahouania is heard on the reggae influenced number, "Esh 'Dani, Alash Mshit." The Yemenite singer Michal Cohen adds her Semitic swing to the intoxicating "Im Ninalou," while the Moroccan group Haddarates sing in their mystical, Sufi-style on "Madh Assalhin." "Toura Toura," is motored by Brahim Elbelkani's Afrocentric, Gnawna tantric tempos and tones, and "Jarat Fil Hub" transports the listener back to the splendors of Andalusia via Cheb i Sabbah's wheels-of-steel alchemy, which easily moves Afro-Arab music across the sonic sands of time. --Eugene Holley, Jr. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars hypnotic..
I'm not a musicologist, but it's still incredibly
impressive. The acoustics are just phenomenal. The
female vocalists, Michal Cohen and Nadia, are truly
EXCEPTIONAL singers. The part of track 3 ("Toura
Toura") is such a catchy beat that you can't help but
start swaying along. Track 9 no exaggeration here, it
is simply excruciatingly gorgeous singing. The
instrumentalists are totally hypnotic, as well.Cheb
i Sabbah plays on a wide array of traditional North
African instruments, which lend this CD some amazing
aural richness. Plus, the lyrics are entirely in
Arabic, so it adds to the mystique of the lyrics, some
of which I read are poetic.

Absolutely first-rate stuff! Haunting and gorgeous.
Get it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mind Blowing
The cover is very attractive; the colors and of course the attractive lady and the colors around her is very eye catching.I like the blend of music from the different areas of the East as Eastern Fusion is one of my favorite types of music! This CD is a definite purchase!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mindblowing
Having previously loved "Krishna Lila" and "As Far As" I was impressed by Cheb's capabilities as a DJ/producer.Simply put, this CD is mindblowing!! It grabs you from the first track by Cheba Zahounia and her powerful voice and does not let up throughout the entire CD. Virtually every album I own (including many classic recordings) can't maintain their level of production excellence throughout. This one is that rare exception. It covers an amazing variety of styles from the Maghreb and is the very definition of the word "synthesis." I have yet to find an album from the world music genre which gracously brings together such traditional sounds and lyrics and maintains the regions style and classicism. I have heard of the
legendary group B'Net Marrkech, but to hear them on such a forward thinking and "modern" album blew me away....imagine a group of older Arabic women, covered in their traditional wear, singing such powerful words from eras gone. Now comes along Cheb i Sabbah who brings an old world to a new era. You must sample
tracks 3, 7, 8 which are my faves!

5-0 out of 5 stars Why can't I give this 7 stars ?!
I love all things Arabic and fusion and so it is no
wonder that I love this CD. It is an elegant blend of traditional Arabic music with modern techno remixing by renowned Cheb i Sabbah. It is a diverse collection of Arabic and North African instruments, voices, and sounds that makes it way to your soul but also keeps you on the dancefloor. Mchal Cohen's track Im Ninalou is simply haunting yet inspiring...It's a perfect amalgamation of the modern electronic and the ancient traditional. Great for groove trancing and great for spiritual relaxing. I never tire of Cheb i's deeply moving music. This is album is what Shri Durga was to the Asian Underground scene -- groundbreaking and original. Buy this CD!

5-0 out of 5 stars Journey across the Sands....
Cheb i Sabbah has done it again! Genious work
combining ethereal sounds from the Maghreb with such
powerful voices to complement. Toura Toura simply
takes you to another land, another time with such
mellow yet raw vocals. The album seems more like an
epic journey across the sands of the Saharan desert. A
Must HAVE for any world music fan ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Dance song in Ages
My family and I heard the Cha Cha Slide in the Gambia West Africa on our holiday in March of this year (2002),the kids raved about it so much but no one knew the title or the artist as it was a recording given to someone in the hotel on a visit from the USA.The staff in the hotel gladly taught us the dance moves and we havn't stopped dancing yet.So after searching the net I found the title and artist and ordered it straight away.its an excellent dance song and I am amazed that it isn't popular in the UK (that I will have to try and remedy).I would love to know all the dance moves as well as the words and any other songs that are of this kind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cha-cha slide
This is delightful! It taps into some of the basic steps from dance and weaves them together with a great beat. Most importantly, though, it enables a person, like myself, to feel a simple, fun, and energizing rhythm. It is a GREAT way for people to share an activity together, especially those who may not be able to find common ground in verbal communication. Get it! Do it with family (especially dysfunctional ones during the holidays) and friends. Watch the introverted, cerebal, shy, intellectual and even cynical types move their bodies in ways they may have never moved them before! You'll giggle!

1-0 out of 5 stars In the bum bum
This track is like so not kewl dude! It's like, hello, this track isn't kewl at all man, so it's like, duh, i mean, like, whateverrr man. This TOTALLY sucks man, it's like so not kewl. I hate you all. Moo har har har.

3-0 out of 5 stars CHA CHA SLIDE
This is a great song (the cha-cha slide) for young girls. My daughter has been a cheerleader for 3 years and she is 9. This song helps break the tension or shyness between other girls on her squad. It is great if your child may be overweight, she (he) could use this song as a cardio exercise. I was at the San Diego Sports Arena for competition with about 7,000 other cheer squads. During intermission this song was played and 90% of the cheerleaders were dancing to the steps of this song. Now my opinion is if almost 7,000 girls liked it than use your own opinion. I like it, It is better than watching my young daughter dancing to ME AGAINST THE MUSIC W/BRITNEY SPEARS.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wicked an groovy
The Cha cha slide by Dj Casper is a real hit. It has that sort of twang that gets you moving where ever you are. I really would give this song a chance even if you don't like this sort of music. It is a great work out and gets everyone off their ass and dancin' to the grooovy beat. Even older people can love this song.It has a party feel and makes you dance even if your cat has just died. Young Argentine guitarist Federico Aubele became transfixed with the music of Astor Piazzolla even as he listened to the cool lounge sounds of Thievery Corporation and the Six Degrees label. Incredibly, he put these influences together for an exceptional debut album entitled Gran Hotel Buenos Aires. It's produced by the Thievery guys, but one gets the sense that this really came from Aubele. He surrounds his downtempo beats delicate acoustic guitar figures, an array of sexy women singers (all vocals are in Spanish), and a rich tapestry of sounds and tones. Pushing flamenco and various styles of Latin music to the fore, he also draws upon dub and ambient, and it's the grace of this hip fusion that puts Aubelle up there with such genre benders as Manu Chao and the Gotan Project. Highlights include the upbeat "Ante Tus Ojos" and the rich Latin groove "Esta Noche," but the album is strong from beginning to finish. A truly impressive first effort.--Tad Hendrickson ... 4-0 out of 5 stars hypnotic music
Federico Aubele's album on ESL comes as a refreshing twist in the downtempo/international music scene. Taking guitar-rich songs from his native Argentina, packing them onto the thievery-built sonic cruiser and stopping off in Kingston to drench it all in dub.

There are plenty of dub records out there, and plenty more from Argentina, but this may be worth your time if you dig mellow, haunting downtempo songs with both live and sampled vocals. Good music for chillin'.

The one drawback, I guess, is that this music can seem too-much like wallpaper or fashion music. But taken as part of a deep collection of music or for inclusion in mixes - I'd say this record rates as a classic of its genre. B+

4-0 out of 5 stars Great album from ESL
Thievery corp have chosen another winner!

Federico's album is lush - full of downtempo, dubby sounds with a latin flair. Love the guitar work on all the tracks!

1-0 out of 5 stars GOOD CD BUT OVER PRODUCED
The Thievery Corp guys try to steal the album from Federico Aubele whom when left alone to play the guitar is spectacular.
All he songs start off the same and it becomes boring after the second cut, too much going on most of the songs, I bought this cd after listening to Los Amigos Invisibles produced by M.A.W. and was really looking forward to a Thievery produced cd.
I BEEN ROBBED.

5-0 out of 5 stars Check out this CD
I first heard of Federico on the latest ESL compilation Den of Thieves. I loved the track "Postales" by him so I picked up this cd. I was amazed; his tracks really get your attention. It's a mix of groovy guitar, sensuous lyrics, and mellow drums. This cd is at its climax when they throw in a trumpet as well. I strongly believe that fans of most genres will enjoy this cd.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great album from ESL!
Take 1 part Up, Bustle, & Out....1 part Gotan project...and 1 part Theivery Corp. And you get Federico Aubele! This album is smooth from start to finish! Great beats, & other worldly vocals.

French duo Air's debut album is a superlatively happy collection of experimental disco-mood sound nestled between ambient soundscape and breathy pop. It's jazzy and melodic, and mostly laid-back, but not excessively so. There are a few shake-it, shake-it numbers, too, like the absurdly daft hit "Sexy Boy." It's snap your fingers and hang out (while reading) music or dance around sexy-slow with your mate music. It's also the perfect music to do your ironing or some other chore to; it's hypnotizing wallpaper music. It slips in and out of your consciousness, forcing you to move around with a relaxed smile before you even realize it. Oh, and contrary to sampler fashion, Nicolas Godin and Jean Benoit Dunckel played the instruments themselves. Bravo. --Mike McGonigal ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Prog rock? Mmmm...no. Frog rock? Yep! Well, sort of.
I'll grant everyone who's slobbered all over this thing that its a cool listen, but probably owing to the fact that they recorded this album using instruments they bought at Giorgio Moroder's garage sale, it doesn't sound all that fresh.

Indeed, when I listen to this there's a definite synth feel that recalls Midnight Express, maybe a hint of Tangerine Dream, and the occasional nose-blowing horn that hearkens back to Ennio Morricone's spaghetti western scores. Air covers a lot of ground, but none of it seems like new ground, which is why they get docked a star. And if these guys start to try to pass themselves off as self-styled "geniuses" (and I get the feeling that this is already starting to happen), drop another star.

It kinda sounds like I didn't care for this CD, which is false. I actually like it a lot. "La Femme D'Argent", which is the best track for my money, is a smooth, chill-out 7-minute groove that I absolutely love, but I was a little disappointed that there weren't any other funky space-lounge explorations quite like it on the rest of the CD.

All in all, with Moon Safari, Air has placed themselves at the vanguard of pop music...circa 1980. Hey, boys, as long as you're there, wake up Gary Numan, would you? And get yourself a subscription to Omni magazine. You'll dig it, I promise.

2-0 out of 5 stars More Dance songs please
This is probably the french duo's best album to date, however i don't really know where they stand cause the variation of the songs is huge. Some are catchy dance-pop" Kelli watch the stars" some others almsot sound like Jazz "Talisman" who would have thought Air made them both?. "You make it easy" is almost a ballad, quite boring if yoy go all the way to the store to get a dance album, and when you get back 50% of the songs are something else."Ce Matin La" is a nice one, slow and romantic with someone playing the trumpet, no dance once again. "All i need" is allright, but more like pop, with a female singer making the lyrics. i like "Remember" "Kelly Watch the stars" and "Sexy Boy" which are all pure dance, could they make some more of that kind i would judge this cd alot better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
Moon Safari is simply amazing! I bought this CD about one year ago, and it is still one of my favorites. It's the type of album you can put on repeat, and never get tired of it. Air's "Moon Safari" offers an eclectic mix of songs that are completely different from one another, but flow well nicely from track to track. Listen to it just for the sake of listening to it, play it at a party - this is versatile. My friends gave it a listen, and they (all with many different musical tastes, might I add) all loved it. "Moon Safari" remains classic and modern at the same time. Completely mellow, with substance.

5-0 out of 5 stars ISO more like this!
This is my first ambient/techno music cd. I'd heard 'All I Need' on satellite several years ago and was hooked right away, but never bothered to look up the cd until now. I love the instrumental - especially the first track. Wish I could find more of the same - I'm not into the trip-hop side of this genre I'm finding so any recommendations greatly appreciated.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best of 1998
I remember this was like the album of the year in 1998. Everyone was playing it nonstop. I was at a new year's eve party at the end of 1998 and someone put this album on and it was great. I was on some E and hanging out in Brooklyn. I went into the city and hung out at a few parties. I will always remember that night. The music of Air plays a big part in this. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bizarre, but just dive in and you'll love it.
On this recording, Nakamura combines his hip-hop sensabilities with a lush-jazz orchestration that sounds like something out of Burt Bacharach or Serge Gainsbourg. Jennifer Charles' sexy sigh of a voice is the perfect complement for this sort of thing: she invests the songs with an over-the-top sensuality which is by turns hilarious and alluring. Mike Patton does a great job too- the Mr. Bungle frontman wisely restrains his voice to a seductive whisper on most of the tracks, and if he occasionally digs in and reminds the audience of his past experience (notably on 'Pit Stop'), that only adds to the music's superb sense of irony. Did I mention irony? The head over heels lushness of the music aside, there are bizarre sketches strewn throughout the album: excersises in sound collage which feature "well known sexperts" (to quote the liner notes) appearing to rant incoherently about socks or shilling for nonexistant cocktail mixers. What makes this recording a must-have, to my mind, is that despite the dripping irony the music is always catchy, often touching and sometimes downright compelling. Another reviewer questioned whether this album was a joke or not- a fair question. I think the stellar musicians involved with the project from top to bottom decided to have it both ways, and succeeded remarkably well.

5-0 out of 5 stars You just can't go wrong w/ Patton......
Buy this album, now. Definitely one of the year's best by far. The mix of musical styles is brilliant, genius. The Automator proves once again that he is one of the most diverse musicians around. Mike Patton can sing anything and sound good, his vocal style is just amazing. He has range like no other! Everything he gets involved with is brilliant. The duets between him and Jennifer Charles are beautiful, seductive, funny and best of all straight raunchy sex. This album has got the chill groove down pat. I don't think that there is one bad track on the album. Excellent guest musicians, genius music you can't go wrong with.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfection
The Most AMazing Cd I have EVER HEARD ... ive had it in my disc changer for 3 years now and havent taken it out once ...

5-0 out of 5 stars Really funny, Mike Patton's great, and music good
This is actually a really good album. Not just a novelty. I bought it because of Mike Patton, which there's not a whole lot of. Mike is great, the music is good, and there's lots of great comedy. It's definitely something that would be fun to listen to with other people. I haven't tried it, but it might also be good to make love to your old lady by.

5-0 out of 5 stars Grrrr, baby, very grrrr
This album starts well and gets better as it goes. Patton & Jennifer Charles blend voices beautifully to create a sexy vibe. "Pit Stop" is among the best of this CD. 5-0 out of 5 stars This is the new breed of compilations
I purchased this compilation after I caught the album review in the august issue of Urb magazine. They gave praise to this new breed of french electronica artists that are making new funk, jazz and soul electronica. I have to say that there is more going on in Paris, (France) besides St Germain. Although the rare unreleased St Germain track is one of his slickest uptempo recordings with mainfloor intentions.

All these new artists bring their own new approach to electronica. I especially like the tracks from Kia, Terrasse Tranquille, Inckel, Florian, and The Bottle. All of the music is rich with jazz and funk. You can hear the live bass, organs and guitar lines on many of the tracks. Not only are these new artists innovative composers. But they are also solid musicians. I can only hope that some tour is created to give these musicians the opportunity to come to the states and blow our minds. Urb Magazine stated that this record involves artists that need more investigation. I definitely would like to hear more from these new cats in France.

I agree with the great review of the record. This album is at least an impressive 4 star production. It's perfect to set the mood of any party affair with soulful jazz, funk, and deep house electronica that is uncommon amongst all the electronica garbage that fills the record bins. Paris Under A Groove - 5 stars

5-0 out of 5 stars Great new jazz - funk electronica
I recently picked this record up at the Virgin Mega store in times square. I agree with the other reviewers. This record has an amazing rare st germain track, and features completely new jazz, funk, soul and deep house material by new artists.

I have also bought some of the other compilations by Costes and Paris Lounge. However, none of these tracks are available on these other releases. There are many solid funky compositions on this new release. I especially like the great tracks "Battery Vox" by the Bottle and "Mantis" by Versus. They are very funky with strong bass lines. The track Affinitees is also a great nu jazz instrumental track. Soft jazz piano lurks beneath a soothing deep house bass line.

These artists are a welcome addition filling the void left since St Germain's Tourist was released in 2000. Paris Under A Groove worked nicely at a recent cocktail party I threw in Tribeca. I tried to find more information on this record searched and found a web site for this new label at www.newhouserecords.com

I also like this new cat from France, Florian. They published his picture on this web site.

I bought this cd initially because I liked the title. It turned into a fabulous buy. Great for just sitting at home with a glass of wine, a few friends, and excellent conversation. The cd is funky with some groovy tunes that take you all over the world.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great compilation....
This is an excellent compilation of progressive house, direct from the source, France. I agree with everyone else, the Germain track is worth the purchase of this one alone, but there are also some hot new artists on here that are worth a listen. Just short of 5 stars due to a few duds (hey, it's a compilation so you've got to expect a few), but is still great just the same.
If you dig this CD I also HIGHLY recommend Mr.Deviant's "Techno Obsession" CD.

4-0 out of 5 stars cool
I love Vanessa Paradis so I had to listen to this album. Not quite like her but this album has a cool funky beat that happnin lounges and chic bars would play. I like it, give it a listen if your cool enough. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Spice Girls CD
I was a huge Spice Girls fan back in 1996/1997/1998. Then Geri quit the group and I lost faith in them. Spiceworld is brilliant too, but their debut album has to be the best.
Rundown:

1. Wannabe
Need I say much? EVERYONE knows this song. It was the girls first single, and a brill one at that. I'm sick of it now, but the chorus is very catchy. 5/5

2. Say You'll Be There
I LOVE this live. It sounds so great. It was the Spice Girls' second single. I love Mel C's backings at the end, and Emma's first verse. The video is funny and overall the song is very cool. 5/5

3. 2 Become 1
The first ballad you encounter on the CD. It was the Christmas #1 in 1996, and it's sweet. Emma sounds excellent on this song, taking over the bridges. I like Mel B's catchy little thing on the end of the choruses, and the music at the end. Great. 5/5

4. Love Thing
The first non single track you come across. This is a cute, catchy little song, where the girls tell their men "i don't want no pushing and shoving, don't wanna know about that love thing". Very singable. 5/5

5. Last Time Lover
This is my favourite song on the album tied with "Naked". This is sexy, smooth and brill. Emma sounds AWESOME on the choruses, and Mel B does a great job on the verses. And Geri... sounds EXCELLENT. I LOVE THIS SONG, I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! 55555555555/5

6. Mama
This song is the girls' fourth single. It's all about their mothers, and the girls' mums feature in the video. I don't really like this song much, it's too slow for me. But I like the end with the cool choir chorus. 4/5

7. Who Do You Think You Are
Comic Relief single, which means it has extra credit for being for charity. This is dancy, bouncy and upbeat, a massive change from the guitars and balladness of the last track. It has a great video too. 5/5

8. Something Kinda Funny
This song gets boring if you listen to it too much. It has cool music and great bridges from Emma. The performance live is brill (especially the performance in Live At Wembley with the dancers), and overall it's a great song. 5/5

9. Naked
My favourite song tied with "Last Time Lover". This has creepy music and great vocals. Mel C and Victoria sound awesome on the chorus, and Emma sounds good too. I adore the live performance of this. I LOVE THIS SONG, I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! 55555555555/5

10. If U Can't Dance
A great way to end the album. This song is upbeat and makes you want to dance. Mel B sounds great, and I love the music. 5/5

If you couldn't guess, Emma is my favourite Spice Girl. This album is brilliant. It's a shame the girls have given up on the Spice Girls, since they were a remarkable band. This CD is firmly lodged in my CD collection.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but no substance
This is a good record to dress up and dance to, but it lacked substance and meaning. In "Naked", what are they singing about? A naked British woman on the phone? "If U Can't Dance" makes no sense at all, but I like the Spanish rap. Yeah, Spice Girls, like YOU can dance anyway. "Wannabe" is very annoying, but good to run around the house crazy to. "Say You'll Be There" is my favorite. "2 Become 1" is a contradiction. The girls are singing about safe sex, but most of the listeners were girls between the ages 6-12. Girls too young to know what safe sex is about. "Love Thing" is sassy, but a mock-feminist tune. "Last Time Lover" is sexy and sultry. However, the girls should stick to singing, not rapping. "Mama" reminds me of my relationship with my mother...and how I drive her crazy. :) "Who do you think you are?" is a good dance club hit. It's one of my faves. "Somethin' Kinda Funny" is an R&B song that's lyrically-challenged. "Naked" makes no sense whatsoever. What is that song about? "If U Can't Dance" is konga/pop/dance. It's alright.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spice (1996)
I was a huge Spice Girls fan back when they were more than just beautiful girls with sexy images. They remind me so much of my seventh grade year, as well as the summer after my seventh grade year. Everytime I put on this album, I go back to my seventh grade year and remember how much of a fan I was.

First, let's introduce the girls. Starting with Geri Halliwell, aka "Ginger Spice". Geri, who was considered to be a favorite with most fans and considered to be the sexiest Spice Girl, called herself "Ginger Spice" because she was always seen in red, and it is a well-known fact that ginger is red. Next, we have Victoria Adams-Bechkam, aka "Posh Spice". Victoria, who happens to be the first prettiest Spice Girl in my book, called herself "Posh Spice" because she was raised in a very classy family. Thirdly, we have Melanie B., aka "Scary Spice". Melanie B., who is the second most prettiest Spice Girl in my book has called herself "Scary Spice" because she is constantly wearing leopard-skin outfits and has a pierced tongue. Fourthly, we have Melanie C., aka "Sporty Spice". It's obvious that Melanie C. has called herself "Sporty Spice" because of her Tomboy style, which consists of sports jerseys, sweat suits, jogging outfits, tanktops, and sneakers from the infamous Nike. Lastly, we have the adorable Emma Bunton, aka "Baby Spice". Emma has called herself "Baby Spice" because she is the youngest of the group. To add to her name, Emma dresses the part, wearing short pink skirts, rolled up socks, always putting her hair in pigtails, owning a lot of stuffed toy animals, and shows up at almost every promotional appearance sucking on a lollipop. Now, let's get to the album.

WANNABE
The first single from the album. Not only was this the first single released from the album, this was also the girls' first single ever. I remember the first time I heard this, that I immediately fell in love with it. The lyrics are real catchy and will have you dancing everytime you hear it.

SAY YOU'LL BE THERE
The second single from the album. Although Wannabe was major #1 hit, Say You'll Be There topped Wannabe by hitting #1 in 32 countries, including the U.S. This is a great song that talks about how the girls tell their boyfriends that they know their guys love them, but all the guys have to do is be there for the girls when the girls need them.

2 BECOME 1
The third single from the album. Yet another #1 hit for the girls. The girls decided to take a break from their uptempo songs and decided to release a sweet ballad for a change. The song is, indeed, about sex. If you didn't know that, just listen closely to the lyrics, especially when Emma sings her verses. The version on this album wasn't used for the video. Victoria's verse on this version is different from that of the video. On this version, Victoria says "Any deal that we endeavour, boys and girls feel good together. Take it or leave it, take it or leave it". In the video version, Victoria says, "Once again, if we endeavour, love will bring us back together. Take it or leave it, take it or leave it".

LOVE THING
Although I love the vibe to this song, it isn't as energized as most of the girls' songs from this album.

LAST TIME LOVER
This is yet another song that separates from the girls' usual hype girl power sounds. This is your casual love song, but all of its verses are sung by Melanie B., where she sings in a low, sexy voice that can make any go crazy, if you know what I mean.

MAMA
The fifth and final single from the album. For starters, this is a beautiful ballad, with the beautiful sound of a choir. Secondly, this was a song the girls had written for their mothers and it was a great gesture to show how much they love and appreciate their mothers.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE
The fourth single from the album. The girls went back into their girl power sound with this song. It is a great song all the way.

SOMETHING KINDA FUNNY
I used to be nuts about this song, but I think I played it out for myself.

NAKED
The girls decided to get a little raunchy by recording this song that sounds to me like they are talking about sex, intimacy, love, romance, and... being naked.

IF U CAN'T DANCE
Although this is great dance song, I never really understood the meaning of it.

By the time this album was released, the Spice Girls were already famous in their own country, which would be England, and here in the US. This album helped push them further into their fame and the album remains a favorite amongst all of their fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is when pop was fun
The spice girls came and made pop fun for everyone again and I was young when they came out but I still love this cd very much and I am glad they made their mark in pop music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Spice Girls rock!
[Okay, I'm older than 12, not 12, but I don't want to become a member!]

Anwyays. When I was younger and they were huge I was like a total fan! When they broke up, I was not a fan anymore. Then my dad made me listen again a few months ago, and I remembered how good the music is. I'm listening to the CD right now, and I have been listening to their CDs constantly now for a few weeks - again. Brings back good memories. They were all so talented, they wrote their own music and each had a special part in the band. Plus, they wanted to do some stuff their own way, not have some person write all their songs and tell them how to dress. It was just a shame they were kind of tough or something, and they broke up. But the music is good, every song is different, and the music is so light and easy, but not exactly soda pop. It is unique and can never be replaced! Plus, they all have talents. I wish they'd make more music like this! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars This isn't really Prefuse 73 anymore
I absolutely loved Prefuse 73's old albums.Things have changed in this album.Songs like perverted undertone are replaced by a little more artist flavor.Personally, I'm not a big fan, and am a little dissapointed that this album didn't sound like his last two.

5-0 out of 5 stars his best?
i'm still teetering on that question, i love this album and vocal studies & uprock narritives, but i seriously think this one has beaten it out of its number 1 prefuse album on my list. this album is just so diverse, with sound. I love how he mixedclassical into his work, it is so emotional. brings tears to my eyes, i have no idea why, the music just touches my heart. heh, that sounds so corny.

5-0 out of 5 stars UNBELIEVABLE
Another incredible and innovative record from one of the most significant musicians around today.Buy this and his whole catalog

4-0 out of 5 stars "Rain Edit Interlude"
Let's just start by announcing my favorite track on here, ok? "Rain Edit Interlude" transports a fairly long sample from Linda Perhacs' Parallelograms into the glitchhop modernity of Prefuse 73's fourth full length. Yes, to me it is the best. In fact, it seems to almost transcend the rest of the album as more of a fully baked "song", less a merely super-produced mix of glitches and samples. P73 (aka Scott Heren) seems to do well working with female vocalists (see Savath & Savalas) - even when they're simply sampled. The vocal track(s) tend to beautifully round out his glitchy click clack hip hop production. Other featured artists/samples include Ghostface, El-P, Aesop Rock, Broadcast, Tyondai Braxton, Masta Killa and GZA. Recommended for fans of Amon Tobin, DJ Shadow, Unagi, Kid Koala, etc.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love you Kazu
This record rips it up. It's party music. It's wild. It's the more experimental record you will ever here. It is off the hook. It is where hiphop is. Ghostface Killa shows up on a track. The sisters from On Air Library are on here too. "Pastel Assassins" is a major track. Kazu from Blonde Redhead sings on another track. There are also appearances by The Books, Aesop Rock, GZA, Nobody, Beans, and a load of other fine tracks. Some of the previous records by Prefuse 73 seemed out of control. This is a studied journey. It's a valid statement. ... Read more

KC and the Sunshine Band, led by Harry Wayne Casey, brought a bit of male bravado to the predominantly diva-led disco scene. KC and company incorporated a Caribbean feel to their music, with swelling--and staccato--horn parts and multilayered vocals. The repetition of the choruses of "Shake Your Booty" and "That's the Way (I Like It)" had every gold-chain wearing male on the dance floor singing along. While these hits, and "Get Down Tonight," are now disco cultural reference points, "Sound Your Funky Horn," a minor hit earlier in the band's career, has more of an island feel to it. The Best of KC and the Sunshine Band provides a fairly broad sampling of the Sunshine Band's music, including "Keep It Comin' Love," "I'm Your Boogie Man," and the tropical funk of "Boogie Shoes." --Steve Gdula ... 4-0 out of 5 stars All the KC Most People Need
KC & the Sunshine Band, for whatever reason, don't strike me as the kind of band with a massively devoted following. Most folks will probably just want to hear a good collection of their work. This is probably your best bet - containing all the hits (and several that weren't!) from the band. "Get Down Tonight", "That's the Way (I Like It)", "I'm Your Boogie Man", the ballad "Please Don't Go" and the late-period "Give It Up" get the most plays in my player, but the rest of the tracks probably won't disappoint. The inclusion of the early junku/disco tracks "Sound Your Funky Horn" and "Queen of Clubs" adds some needed variety. "Let's Go Rock and Roll" isn't exactly rock, and you'll start swearing you heard "Do You Wanna Go Party" just four or five songs ago - around this point, my interest starts to wane. The liner notes are notably lame for a Rhino Records release, but hey, just peruse 'em once and forget about 'em. Anyone interested in some KC should pick this up, listen to it once, then program around the tracks you're not crazy about. That's what CDs are all about, right?

5-0 out of 5 stars Still Booty Shakin'
KC was a real guilty pleasure every time his songs got played on the radio, super hooky, catchy as hell and so easy to dance to. Like Motown, its amazing his best tunes can still pack a dance foor in seconds after 20+ years! KC's stuff has been repackaged many times but Rhino has done the best job if you looking for the hits. You get all the original single mixes and excellent liner notes.

My only (little) gripe is that the compilers should have included his 1978 cover of the 4 Tops "It's the Same Old Song" - the song didnt do so well nationwide (it barely scraped the Billboard Top 40) but it still got a lot of regional and dancefloor airplay. Other than that, this whole CD is a lot of fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just excellent!!!!
KC and The Sunshine Band are represented very well, here. All of the songs are terrific and Rhino does their usual fine job of compiling a hit package. I think KC and The Sunshine Band are underrated and they were an important part of the disco/funk evolution. They are without a doubt, one of the funkiest disco bands, ever. This is highly recommended to anyone who likes good disco, with a funky flavor and R & B. I love it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best of KC & the Sunshine Band [Rhino 1990]
The Best of KC & the Sunshine Band [Rhino 1990]~ KC & the Sunshine Band is a good collection of their best tracks. Their music is hypnotic with very good tracks and fun lyrics.

4-0 out of 5 stars I like it
KC and the Sunshine Band were the most successful disco group of the 1970s. They produced a lot of fun records. The songs didn't have any serious messages, but they were had a lot of charm. This is just good time, get up ... and dance music. This CD contains all their big hits and some songs that weren't big hits, but should have been. I would recommend this CD to anybody who is a fan of disco. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Shirley was just as good before Garbage!
I love Garbage and now I love Angelfish though they only have one album out and have broken up. I first found about Angelfish on this cool site about Shirley Manson (go to yahoo.com and in the search space type "Shirley Manson" the site will be called Greenday vs. Shirley Manson). I must admire Shirley's talent to sound like Deborah Harry of Blondie on "King of the World". And she just sounds plain cool on "Suffocate Me". Her ability to sound different shows on this album. If you like Garbage just one bit, you should get this album Note: I don't think the album's sold in any music stores any more. It's best to get it over the I-net if your interested.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's Shirley Manson Like you've never heard her before...
This is a good, solid pop album. It lacks the super sheen of Garbage which in some ways is a relief, I would have been dissapointed if this had been a carbon copy of manson's present band. All the songs on Angelfish are easy to listen to and lack the supersonic punches of Garbage, which is pretty good and makes for happy listening. Standout tracks are 'Dogs in a Cage' 'mummy can't drive' and 'The sun won't shine'. A very pleasing album, kinda like a chocolate liquor- very sweet but you know it's got to be bad for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great album
Angelfish sounds alot like Garbage (actually, Garbage sounds like Angelfish, right?), however is doesn't have a massive production upon it. This is exactly what makes it great. The songs are simple and very melodious. Besides the obvious hit "Suffocate Me", the best songs in my opinion are "Sun Won't Shine" and "Sleep With Me" -- beautiful and subtle. Since I'm a huge Garbage fan, I recommend this CD for everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful album & band before Shirley took out the Garbage
When one singer leaves their original band to join another & wind up having much larger success than before, it can leave that previous group in the dust to be forgotten for all time. But in the case of Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson, her old band Angelfish had just as much potential and talent to make it on their own before Garbage's future members saw the band's video on MTV, and at last found their frontwoman. As Shirley went on to multiplatinum glories with Garbage, Angelfish's self-titled 1993 debut (and only album) still stands alone as its own singularly fine work.

Stylistically, ANGELFISH leans more towards Garbage's 1995 self-titled debut with its more guitar-based rock textures than the highly-polished techno flourishes of 1998's VERSION 2.0 & 2001's BEAUTIFULGARBAGE. This is mostly thanks to the producership of husband-and-wife duo Chris Frantz & Tina Weymouth (both formerly of Talking Heads). In fact, ANGELFISH could be in the vein of the Heads' first album from before Brian Eno was brought into commercialize them. In any event, ANGELFISH is a rocking good time displaying all the qualities that would help make Shirley's work with Garbage such a rousing success.

Charging out of the gates at the beginning is the sexy, glam-rock come-on of "Dogs In A Cage". David Bowie would have given his eyeteeth for a song like this in his DIAMOND DOGS days, but Shirley is just as alluring in her come-on. Who knew that such a dark, yet strangely inviting Scottish lass like Shirley could be so seductive?

The rock continues on a cover of Holly & The Italians' "You Can Love Her" (love that drum intro), "King Of The World" (who said a female singer has to use "queen" in the title), and "Mummy Can't Drive" (this is a woman you may not want to bring home to the parents). While Shirley may have been the obvious breakout star of the group, Angelfish the band are given ample opportunities to shine on these revved-up ditties. Frantz & Weymouth must have told the group to just play live & not let overdubs get in the way, hence the raw, ballsy performance they give to these tunes.

However, ANGELFISH is mostly an album somber in mood & slinky in its instrumentation. "Suffocate Me" is another song that is so flat-out sexy, it's a wonder that it can come off that way in the cool & detached (but no so much to forsake all emotion) voice of Shirley. "Heartbreak To Hate", "Tomorrow Forever" & "The End" have her & Angelfish turning out goodbye ballads that even at their most Bic-lighter-waving moments have enough volume to place them above sappiness. On the other hand, my favorite song off the album "Sleep With Me" follows that method of slow-and-steady-wins-the-race, but with a much happier outcome in the end. Deep down inside, Shirley just might look an ice queen on the outside, but it doesn't take much to melt her facade to get to the heart of gold.

ANGELFISH may not have set the charts on fire with its release, but it apparently did well enough for a video to reach MTV & catch the eyes of the members of Garbage, in need of an eyecatching frontperson to take them to the top. Better yet, while most famous musicians' pre-fame groups may worth mentioning for curiosity issues, Shirley Manson & Angelfish happily turned out an album that had all the potential to being a breakout success in itself.

Hopefully, those music fans who have been won over by Garbage's body of work will seek out Angelfish's lone album to see that Shirley Manson not only had talent to spare beforehand, but with a group that could best be described as Garbage with an extra dose of testosterone (apologies to Shirley). A liberal amount of production gloss may have boosted Garbage into the stratosphere, but Angelfish shows it could have succeeded on its raw talent alone had the public had wider-open ears.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Garbage....
Like many who have already reviewed this album, I too was interested in this album due to Shirley Manson's part in it.

At first, I must say, I wasn't much into the music of Angelfish; but after a few listens I definately started to latch onto it. I'd actually have to say, that some of these songs remind me of Blondie.

The lyrics are morbidly up-beat, and the music itself is quite catchy. I'd give this album a try... ... Read more

Santa Cruz product Miguel Migs gently but firmly tears the roof off with 24th St Sounds, his latest example of the sunny, uptempo chill music known as "deep" house. As practiced by Migs, Ben Watt, King Britt and others, the style takes the raunch of classic house and replaces it with a polished cocktail vibe, creating a hybrid your parents might even enjoy. Not to say that it doesn't kick; 24th St Sounds is a smooth ride, but it's also a relentless--and fantastic--dance record. Migs knows how to blend, and his positive energy would sound just as good in a grimy New York basement club as it would at a Riviera beach bash. He starts hot, leaving the soft melodies in the background on floor stompers like "Waiting." After a slight lull, he picks up again for the luminous "You Can't Stop," and backs off with the spare, borderline electro of Trevor Lovey's "The Bounce." The second disc, culled from Migs's studio catalog, sounds more thrown together and lacks disc 1's drive and cohesion. But really, it's hard to get too much of 24th St Sounds, as long as you're in a good mood (or won't mind being put into one). --Matthew Cooke ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny for I Say I Say I Say-esque Piney Gir mix
Erasure's "I Say I Say I Say" album from 1994(that featured the smash hit "Always") is my 2nd favorite album ever. I would like to thank Piney Gir for remixing DSYLM into something that would have fit right on that magnificent album over 10 years ago.

"DSYLM-Piney Gir Mix" is a very powerful song and improves upon the original like no other. The backing choir voices and layered vocals reminds me of ISISIS's songs of the same fashion("So The Story Goes" and "Miracle").

However this, the 2nd of Erasure's singles from their heartfelt and romantic "Nightbird", is not as amazing as their first single release "Breathe".

The b-side "Lie To Me" is IMO their worst song from the Nightbird era. While "Breathe's" B-Sides were stellar(especially "Gone Crazy"). Not horrendous enough where I won't listen to it, just not up to par with the other "Nightbird" songs.

Likewise, the video for "DSYLM" isn't anywhere close as being as good as "Breathe's" dramatic and serious video. Instead the boys went for a cartoony outer-space video which I don't really think captures the essence of the song whatsoever. Cutting edge in technology but not something I have bothered to watch over and over and over again like I did with the "Breathe" vid.

The other remixes of "DSYLM" are pretty good too. The "Single Mix" sounds a lot like the original version but with a slightly different bass, more varied drum sounds and a bit faster song. While the "Radio Mix" adds in a lot of bass.
The "Mark Moore & Eon Vox Mix" has a really nice beat to it but the soulful vocals are lost in the process. "ATOC's mix" is the better of the two dance remixes IMO...really quirky, although that powerful synth almost ruins the song.

This is a definite pick-up for fans of Erasure and anyone who loves I Say I Say I Say for the Piney Gir Mix.

And for Mike: I LOVE EM ;)

4-0 out of 5 stars Say You Love Them
Erasure really came back as a surprise recently with the well-received Nightbird record. That really was showcased as a great record. Their latest single is quite interesting as well. Don't Say You Love Me, the second single from Nightbird is a great song, and just has a good mix of electronica within a Phil Collins-like atmosphere all in one. It is just recognized as a surpring little diddy that just comes as a surprise. Yet, there is no doubt that it happens to be just a shame that people and radio might overlook this song completely. Still, I suggest you hear this, and see if you want the single, and the well-received Nightbird album.

Amazon.com essential recording

An album even the technophobic couldn't ignore, The Fat of the Land made Prodigy one of the first U.K. rave acts to infiltrate pop culture. Hard-core hip-hop-derived breakbeats, layers of unabashed (but creative) sampling, and meaningless shouted lyrics struck a chord beyond the electronic-music community. The inclusion of "Firestarter" and "Breathe" (both previously released hit singles) certainly aided the disc's widespread success, but it was the ferocity (and controversy) of "Smack My Bitch Up" that caught the world's attention. Guest Shahin Bada's Indian vocalizations convey the sense that dance music has come a long way from "Pump Up the Volume"! "Diesel Power," featuring Kool Keith, and "Funky Shit" set a wicked groove; the cover of L7's "Fuel My Fire" recalls the energy of the Sex Pistols. In fact, the dark aggression of The Fat of the Land bears closer resemblance to both rap and punk than the hedonism of techno. Leader Liam Howett simply gives up 10 solid songs with bombastic production values, transforming dance music into the art of noise. --Lisa Ladouceur ... Read more

I listen to all different genres of music, but I have found that, honestly, "Fat of the Land" is one of my favourite albums of all time, and certainly the best Prodigy album there is (Jilted Generation certainly gives it a run for its money, and is probably more experimental; but the genius of Fat lies in the fact that it has a very coherant theme running throughout the tracks, and most of the musical ideas work very well). Naturally, however, some tracks are better than others.

Ranked from (1) to (10) (1 is the best track and 10 is the worst

Smack my B-- up: Very urban and gritty, the only drawback of this song is that it takes overly long to get off the ground. The Indipop vocal bridge thing is awesome, though.(7)

Breathe: Perhaps the most popular song on the album, but not really my favourite. Keith Flint's vocals don't work so well, nor does the rock-fusion effort. Serial Thrilla is a much better track in that regard.(8)

Diesel Power: Might've been nice if it weren't for the lame guest rapper.(9)

Funky S--: Awesome song; very fast-paced and aggressive, extensive sampling but all the samples work real well.(4)

Serial Thrilla: Perfect metal/techno fusion track. The guitar part is great, and the vocals fit real well into the song (though I'm not sure that they mean anything). Definately this is the heaviest and most aggressive song on the album, as well as one of the best. The overall sound is very dark and gritty.(2)

Mindfields: Another great track. Mindfields is based on a very simple theme, but it has a very earthy feel to it.(3)

Narayan: Really mystical; this track best captures the trippiness of the latter part of the album in general. It would've been an awesome song, but unfortunately it's not as coherant as it might've been and could use a bit more cleaning up. The lyrics are disturbing and cryptic - they add alot to the overall feel of this track; and the Sanskritish vocal thing in the middle is also great.(6)

Firestarter: Another techno/metal fusion track. Works very well overall; not quite as good as Serial Thrilla, but much better than Breathe. I saw the music video for this and it's also pretty cool.(5)

Climbatize: All in all, I'd say this is by far the best track on the album. This song is very coherant musically, and it has all the elements that make the album great: it's trippy, mystical, exotic, dark, agressive, earthy... (1)

Fuel my Fire: Probably the weakest overall. Fuel my Fire is a cover, adn it shows. The vocals are edgy and sorta irritating, similar to Breathe in alot of respects.(10)

5-0 out of 5 stars Heartpounding Hardcore Techno
Prodigy's "The Fat of the Land" is one of the best hardcore techno albums recorded. Their combination of guitar rock, rap, club dance, and sampling gives this album some of the most unique techno sounds. Such quality rightfully made them the first rave band to make mainstream in the US. Prodigy has inspired many dance/electronica acts since the release. Its edgy lyrics and edgy beats keeps every listener anxiously awaiting for what'll happen next, regardless of who's singing lead vocals. Every beat keeps many on the dance floor. Such controversy, especially on "Smack My B**** Up", keeps this album interesting. Their top 40 hit single "Firestarter" capitalizes the theme. After six years of release, "The Fat of the Land" continues its hardhitting impact. This is the ultimate album for the ultimate techno fan. Even many non-techno fans will enjoy this. Those who love it, which surely many will, should watch for their new album to be released in 2004.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Prodigy Indeed
Prodigy has always been a great band. Mixing several genres and coming up with something that is not crap. I love this album from beginning to end. Prodigy's "The Fat of the Land" is to Electronica what "Nevermind" is to Rock. Favorite tracks on this album are "Smack my Bitch Up", Breathe", "Mindfields", "Narayan", "Firestarter", and "Climbatize".

5-0 out of 5 stars Prodigy made it - it's that simple
Most people are idiots - many people understand this fact, and that it applies to them - however, under partiucular circumstances the average man can forget that he is a complete idiot for a brief period of time, during this time he may look even more idiotic than at other intervals, but on the inside he feels only sheer adrenaline pumping excitement - this album combined with some big speakers and a couple of shots of tequila, can definitely provide the average idiot with a simple means of escape from his own lunacy - One Love -

5-0 out of 5 stars A unique and terrific album
Some albums stand out from the pack either because they are unique or outstanding.

"The Fat of the Land" by The Prodigy stands out for both reasons. As any good dance album should, "The Fat of the Land" provides a raucous good time from start to finish. It is full of energy and inculcates the listener with that energy -- I think it's impossible to not feel like moving when this album is playing. Moreover, I really don't think that there is even one remotely weak song on this album.

However, what differentiates this album from others of its kind is that it is an odd dichotomy of dark and forboding and yet pounding and fast at the same time. I think that it serves up a different sound that I really haven't heard since.

"Breathe" and "Firestarter" are the two songs that people would be most familiar with -- and they weren't hits for nothing; they are contagiously feral and to this day their sound holds up. In addition to those two, I really like the songs "Smack My Bi*ch Up" (the song is just flat out pure energy -- you become its b*tch as it smacks you upside the head and exhorts you to dance, to move, to do anything but just sit there on your hands), "Funky Sh*t" (my favorite on the album due to its slightly eerie sound), and "Narayan".

If I feel the need to pump up the stereo with something that is fast-paced and energetic, I usually reach first for "The Fat of the Land." If you are a little tired of what the 2000s have served up so far and want to go back in time and explore the 90s, this is definitely one worth checking out. I'd be very surprised if "The Fat of the Land" didn't grab you. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Like riding the subway...
It's taken me some time to warm up to this.I'm used to the other big names in techno which has kind of caused me to limit my thinking.Rather than a whip smart ride through the electronic universe, this one takes its time.

It's kind of like riding the subway. When you first get on, you're kind of anxious, in a hurry, can't wait to get where you're going. Then you ease into the ride, the rumble of the rails hypnotizing you, lulling you into the ride.Once in the groove, you begin to notice the sounds. You hear the screeching of the rails, the people talking (when they talk) and the obvious sounds. Then you begin to notice the little sounds; the newspapers ruffling, the music from someone's headphones, the shuffling of feet. You are present, you are aware and you cease the anxiety of hurrying.

This mix is like that. It's a steady trip through some low rumbling bass lines and some subtle sounds arising from within. There is no hurry and it is so nice.Instead of the trance anthems and the building crescendo to a predictable, albeit nice, climax, this mix just carries you along. There are some pleasant surprises along the way but nothing that derails the ride. It's a great mix.Over time, I may give it five stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dramatic & melodic -chunky & progressive..just excellent
OK - I 'll keep this short - but if you dig your house with slices of melody, basslines that make you move, and overall outstanding production values - then just stop reading this, add it to your cart, and checkout. The mixing is flawless as well and I can't wait to see him when he comes around here. I had always heard about this guy and finally picked up this newest compilation of his. I've been addicted to this one ever since.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Progressive Compilation of the Year
The first melodic, spacey, trance journey compilation I've experienced in quite some time. Awesome stuff. The perfect mix of white label unknown gems and standout (Quivver) production magic. Great flow, great mixing, just a few mediocre tracks. Have been disappointed with recent releases (GU:027 Miami) but was presently surprised with this set. Orders of magnitued better than Hernan Cattaneo's first Renaissance: The Masters Series release. This made my Thursday night!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Electronic Enlightenment Grows Brighter
Most of you may know of Hernan Cattaneo from the set he performed in Mooonpark in 2002 with Sasha. Many people hadn't heard of him then, and were awed with his technical proficiency and dark, progressive Latin tribal. He immediately vaulted onto the international stage, and became recognized as one of the premier House and tribal DJ's.

If you haven't heard any of Cattaneo's sets yet, his primary influences of set construction and effectual tonality would be: GU's Danny Tenaglia, Godfather: Juan Atkins, and even Underworld's Darren Emerson.Modern Artists to compare him to would be Matthew Dekay, Chris Micali, Satoshi Tomeii, Sander Kleidenberg, Deepdish, and Jon Digweed.Odds are if you dig their sets, you'll really get into Cattaneo.

Now, this collection is phenomenal. It's the best straight house set I've ever heard, by far; even though I really like some of the Balance contributions (more progressive), and some of the Nubreed projects from GU...

Anyway, Hernan really goes Underground with CD 1.Pole Folder is a strong opener, but other than that, the rest of the artists (Azad Rizvi and Tom Middleton excluded) were fairly unknown to me.I love that.Very little things make me more happy than the presence of white labels and unknowns mixed with cream into a set.Track 2 is a great neo disco move, with pleasing new millennia threads woven into the aural tapestry.Real interesting tempo and mood transition from the darker first track.Hernan glides into the 3rd track with beat matching precision, and picks up the bpm with a funky tribal tone.
Then something happens that really flies me back to my home city.Deep Chicago house.Precursed with shadowed-pounding bass, a mournful, elegiac saxophone speaks, its appearance like a mythological Greek ship floating from wispy synthesized echoes.
The rest of CD 1 keeps true to its foundations and holds a dark/funk/disco tone with plenty of creative quirks and seamless mixing.

CD 2, however is what will flip you like a flapjack in a pan.

1st track.Say hello to your old friend Quivver, and a newer friend, Space Manouvers.Beat picks up from song one, and keeps a deep house bass line with constant high shakes.
2nd track.Enter Graham and Blades.Funky punches of bass and snare, complimentary high snips and sweeping synth; you're suddenly in a four seater plane flying over rugged Cuba.
3rd & 4th tracks.Jeff Bennet emerged with his 'Swapping' vinyl in 2003, and Avantages, Direction Changes, Untertaken, and doubting faces E.P.s in 2004, punching into the house fans hearts with authentic beats and quirky use of engineering equip.Cattaneo uses his vinyl here with respect and potentcy.

It's about dam time Snake Sedrick got recognized and used in a major set.His dark tribal and 2004 vinyl works with Andro, i.e. "She is my Destiny", "Solid & Liquid State", and his other lone works have gone severely unnoticed. Here, "Fields" gets an overhaul by Blue Haze, a darker more monotonous polish from the original.

Dousk and Micah have strong shows here, the John Dalagelis unreleased vocal vinyl being a gem for me.Hernan showcases here serious international talent and connections. For you that are deep in the scene, you know that the Greeks with Dousk, Nikola Gala, Kosmas Epsilon, G-Pal, The Greek, and many others, are just dominating the progressive house scene.Hernan, a native to Argentina, I believe, expands previously held ethnic boundaries and pushes the limits of house into a gloriously appetizing multi-hemisphere aural brew.

On the topic of mixing styles, Cattaneo bit ch slaps the listener with breaks around 59 minutes in.I love, love, love progressive breaks, and I love them even more with haunting female vocals.
The second CD closes out with powerful reminisces of Dave Seaman's Therapy sessions and a heavy pulsing undertow that is the heart of evolving progressive electronica.

This is a phenomenal mix, worth every penny you can spend on any commercial house purchased on Amazon.Cattaneo provides four or five different genres of house, breakbeat, and progressive trance/tribal in this masterful compilation.I truly feel that he is one of the fathers that is going to push electronica to where it should go, and consequently should be heard by every person who is serious about the music.

Adding pop savvy to their soul-disco mix, Jamiroquai grabbed the attention of MTV and Top 40 radio and won a Grammy with this platinum-selling album, their third. It's a fine record, with warm keyboards, sweet strings, and irrepressible grooves grounding Jay Kay's sublime vocals and fueling the hits ("Virtual Insanity," "Cosmic Girl," the title track). That voice--elastic, jazzy--is the fire of the band, but immaculate guitar sounds, snappy backup vocals, and clever old-school soul samples (Eddie Harris on "Alright," Esther Phillips on "High Times") are the details that create perfection. Balancing the dance-ready, radio-friendly tracks are the ballads "Everyday" and "Spend a Lifetime," the reggae-styled "Drifting Along," and a couple of didjeridoo instrumentals. --Suzanne McElfresh ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Manifest Destiny: Jamiroquai show their true colors
Just when you thought there was a single band in the world not fueled by greed. On "Travelling Without Moving", Jamiroquai take their music to a new level: "Commercial". Meaning you've probably scene the video for "Virtual Insanity" countless times. Forget the sincerety and quality of the previous albums and prepare for cars, women and all the excesses that have preserved the longevity of bands like the Rolling Stones.

This effort encorporates one song from nearly every genre of black music. Disco, Reggae, Jungle to whiny "Boyz II Men" type ballads and a bit of rock-ish influence but very, very little in the way of Funk, Soul or Jazz from which the band won critical acclaim. The almost non-existant range of Jason Kay's songwriting and lyrical structure seems to remain.

Make no mistake, the album does have it's funky moments. "Do you Know Where You're Coming From?", the bonus track on the US lp, is a worthy drum n' bass tune. But if you suffer from insomnia let "Virtual Insanity", "Alright" and "Spend a Lifetime" be your cure. Several issues to which Jay would previously object are executed quite easily. It makes one wonder if Sony was the driving force behind this record.

This is not a fake plastic pop version of the band. In fact, it's a revelation. Jay Kay no longer parades as an eco-friendly man with a mission, but rather as himself. It shows us also the future of Jamiroquai's music as being less interesting as time goes. Thus, "Travelling" is deep in a shallow sort of way.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite of Jamiroquai's Work!
In my opinion, "Travelling Without Moving" is the best of jazz/funk/pop band, Jamiroquai's, work! Who can forget the infamous video for "Virtual Insanity" and the way you and your friends tried to figure out how they filmed it (even I was surprised by how simple the technique was)?!?

I was very impressed with Jamiroquai's music from the second I heard it. Having been a fan of similar music from the Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai was a pleasant and welcomed surprise. It's unfortunate that it took three albums (along with a quirky video and lead singer) for the United States to take notice of this incredible band. Jay Kay's vocal abilities are wonderful. His voice can go from fun to loving to sensual very smoothly and effortlessly.

Needless to say, I quite enjoy this album!!!

Stand-out tracks:
Virtual Insanity
Cosmic Girl
Everyday
Alright
You Are My Love

If you want to hear some seriously good music and have a lot of fun while doing it, buy this CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars The turning point
For us Jamiroquai fans who love the instrumental and creative side to the band, Travelling Without Moving is the album that begins a total descent into 'jazz-pop', that Jamiroquai, by the two latest albums have turned into. The album does deserve 3 stars due to its' obvious merits in terms of accessability. Virtual Insanity is the best song on the album, and one expects the album to develop depth and innovation wise, but it simply never occurs. One of the main reasons seems to be in the bands increased use of strings and guitars, rather than a greater range of horns and synths, which makes Jamiroquai's music less challenging and gives it an easy cuddly feel.
Overall the album is a collection of catchy songs, but with little experimentation, sadly unlike Space Cowboy and Emergency.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best imitation of someone else's album
Ok, so Jamiroquai has a strong similarity to mid-seventies Stevie Wonder. I dont see anything wrong with that, Stevie Wonder has influenced many bands. I wont say Jamiroquai is very original like some reviewers say, but they are good at what they're doing. It was refreshing to have some uplifting sounds emerge out of mid-nineties Britain due to an array of good but dark and melancholic music like Tricky, Portishead, etc.

One could say that Jamiroquai's lead vocalist not only imitates Stevie Wonder's voice but his lyrical character, this is true. But hey, if you're going to imitate someone, Stevie is a great choice. Differences from Jamiroquai and Stevie is that the music more dance orientated, otherwise it would sound like a perfect follow up to Songs in the Key of Life (except that Jay Kay's voice is no match for Stevie's).

I admit, imitations are not good, but Jamiroquai has altered enough for me to excuse it and to realize it's just good music.

1-0 out of 5 stars The poor man's Stevie Wonder!
Forget this guy and get the real Stevie Wonder. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I have a new favorite artist
The first time I heard "Right Now" on the radio,I stopped and thought, "What is this? This is cool."It seemed to be a blend of blues/jazz/techno.I'd never call myself a techno fan, but with the blues/jazz stylings, this just WORKED.I immediately went out to buy the CD, but no one had it.So, I ordered it and waited. The whole time I was waiting, I was thinking, "Man, I hope the rest of the CD is as cool as 'Right Now'."When I was finally able to pick it up, I immediately threw it in the CD player and smiled. It was.As with most albums, there are a some tracks I like better than others, but one thing I can say is that they're all different. This isn't bubblegum pop where every song sounds the same. Some tracks are fast, some are slow, but they're all interesting.I highly recommend this album, if you can find it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Smoothjazz.com + SmoothLounge.com Review
Adam Dorn is Mocean Worker, but you may call him MoWo. The son of legendary producer Joel Dorn (Roberta Flack, John Coltrane, Leon Redbone), MoWo began his career as an assistant to bassist/producer Marcus Miller (Miles Davis, Luther Vandross, David Sanborn). His credits also include remixing work for Tenacious D (Jack Black), contributions to BIRD UP: THE CHARLIE PARKER REMIX PROJECT, scoring the Sundance pick, The Doe Boy as well as two documentaries for HBO. ENTER THE MOWO! is the debut release for MoWo! Inc., but the fourth genre-defying project from the dude who knows how to blenderize jolts of jazz, chunks of funk and electronic music into a lively, refreshing, sophisticated sound. This new project is already generating a lot of interest and it has been featured on Queer Eye, The O.C, Six Feet Under and on commercials for Bailey's Irish Crème and Kia. Super clever and cool, ENTER THE MOWO! is a hip-shaker with songs like the infectious and jazzy, "Chick A Boom Boom Boom," featuring David 'Fathead' Newman; the burnin' "Right Now," and the retro chilled, "Shamma Lamma Ding Dong" featuring Rahsaan Roland Kirk. MoWo recasts a classic Nina Simone vocal over a bed of rippling piano and atmospheric beats on "Blackbird" and employs a lovely vocalist by the name of Ambrosia Parsley (Shivaree) to sing the spectacularly broody "I'll Take The Woods." Enter the MoWo now, the door's wide open. ~Sandy Shore

5-0 out of 5 stars Mocean Worker is indeed in Motion...
...his musical style continues its evolution.Starting off as a DnB producer at the turn of the century (how weird that seems!), he's firmly in the jazz camp now.Although he swings and bops with awesome tracks like "Chick a Boom Boom Boom" and "That's What's Happenin' Tonight", he still can't rest in one style.Toward the end of the album, he segues into a slower, more trip-hoppy style, starting with his rework of Nina Simone's Classic "Blackbird" and then it's down to "Float" which would be at home on any old trip hop compilation (not in a bad way).Adam Dorn continues to evolve, never worried about being pigeonholed because he seems to constantly be moving.Mocean Worker indeed.Highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Acid Jazz
Some call it Neo Soul, others call it acid jazz, I call it great music that sets a mood and gets people to groove. This is the next phase of Jazz music that has been appealing to folks all over the world. With up-tempo beats and downbeat grooves that keeps the mind open and fresh , this is a cool project features Jazz styles that can make anyone happy. Revamped and reworked and released as a ENTER THE MOWO! The mixtureof Jazz greats like LES MC CANN, NINA SIMONE and DAVID "Fat Head" NEWMAN and the injection of the modern modes of an old jazz groove is incredible. Intellectual, Intelligent, Impressive. Now imagine the setting is a smoky dark lounge and the people there are dressed to a "T". The men are cool and the women are hot,The music is like a Neo Soul and Jazz with hints of D&B and that's what MOCERN WORKERgives you so "Enter The Mowo". It's a ever increasing number of projects that have taken original recordings and injected new life into it by remixing it and reproducing it with new sounds, drops and cool dubs. The release is being called a Jazzy Drum & Bass and is in the mind of ADAM DORN who studied at Berklee Collage of Music in Boston. His father JOEL DORN the famous record producer must me very proud of ADAM's accomplishment, especially when the peeps in the joint seem to get carried away the natural and sometimes funky grooves. This is a CD that any club that has a after work crowd, for people looking for a after hours joint, or just entertaining friends in the home. Many tempos of music on this CD but it keeps it in line of jazz rhythms and chill grooves, making it a versatile collection that features NINA SIMONE, LES Mc CANN DAVID "Fat Head" NEWMAN and many other jazz greats.

5-0 out of 5 stars This album is funky and smart all at once!!!!
Once again everything connected to this artist has changed! And, once again I'm digging it big time. I cant say enough about how funky this album is but not at the expense of having a brainy side at the same time. My favorite track is "Right Now" other highlights include "chick a boom boom boom" and "blackbird" (which is actually a nina simone track remixed). The guests on this album fit in so naturally. Sometimes when an artist has this many guests on an album it feels forced and weird. Not in this case at all.

To make this review a little simpler for music fans out there think about this album as a perfect companion to say VERVE REMIXED 2 or anything by MR Scruff or St Germaine. It's perfectly suited to fans of those artists.

Just get this album. If you are a real fan of Mocean Worker and expect the unexpected.THIS IS THE ALBUM TO GET WITHOUT A DOUBT. It's his best to date. ... Read more

When Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland started distributing homemade singles around Los Angeles at the beginning of the '90s, their bass-fortified, hard-rolling techno concoctions perked up the ears of industry impresarios and local scenesters alike. Vegas, their affectionately-titled major label debut, refines the formula. Thick with layers of pounding beats and rock dynamics, it takes the typical club fare and beefs it up with a uniquely western slant. The detectable influences range from the power chords of AC/DC to old school hip-hop patterns to the smooth melodies of Stevie Wonder. On blistering tracks like "Trip Like I Do" and "Keep Hope Alive," the Crystal Method confirm that America has become a force of contention in the electronica field. --Aidin Vaziri ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Own this CD at all costs
This album by the crystal method is one of the smartest pieces of techno that I have encountered. From the deep, growling "trip like I do"to the wickedly electric "busy child", this CD will leave you breathless and reeling. Whether it be at home on the headphones, driving fast through a big city at night, or a full scale aural assault at a nightclub, the sheer quality of these tunes will make your hair tingle as your favourite bassline drops in. My personal favourite has got to be the phenomenal "keep hope alive" which features at the beginning of the film replacement killers, and was my original inspiration for tracking down the album. Since I first got this CD, everyone who has heard it has bought a copy, and if you truly love dance music you should too. In Britain we hardly ever hear the crystal method, only on certain videos, and certainly never on the radio or TV. When it is heard unexpectedly, those in the know exchange a knowing look, and the grinning begins.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
I bought this cd thinking I may get one, maybe two good cuts. I was happy to find that ALL the cuts are good. "trip like I do" starts off the album and eases into a electro-funk beat then just explodes into a "kick you in the face" jam that totally kicks."busy child" is next and is everything a techno song should be as is "cherry twist" My personal favorite on the cd is "high roller" this song is absolutely amazing. buy this cd just for it alone my one complaint is that I wish I lasted a bit longer. "comin' back" is good but unfortunately they decided to go to the stock techno formula and throw in the cookie cutter female vocals. but who cares, the track is solid despite this. they get right back on track with "keep hope alive" this track just sweeps in and freakin' rocks! the energy stays up for "vapor trail" then "she's My pusher" hits you with some of the most interesting progams on the entire album. "jaded" more stock female vocal (more annoying than 'comin'back' I might add)but once again they wrap the song with excellent beats and programs so you dont mind the little girl voice. the whole thing wraps up with "bad stone" which for me is the next best track on the cd. if you like chemical bros., propellerheads ,delerium, sounds from the ground, etc. you will like .. I like ...dance pool boy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Four Stars
I know very little about this kind of music, but I do know this, this is awesome! There are a couple of songs here that I skip, but this one is in my cd player at least once a month. Read some of the reviews below for more helpful info on this, like I said, I'm not all that familiar with this style. P.S. if you like this, you'll love "decksanddrumsandrockandroll" by Propellerheads, that disc is truly out of this world!

5-0 out of 5 stars The transcendental electronic album.
The Crystal Method's debut album Vegas is without a doubt their strongest. It's also arguably the best electronica ever to be made in the USA, and undeniably one of the top electronic albums of all time. Tracks like Trip Like I Do and Keep Hope Alive have become classics, the former softly guiding you towards its frantic climax, the latter a bass-heavy, almost epic, breakbeat anthem. But don't think buying Vegas only gives you two 5 star cuts. The entire album is top-notch, remarkably diverse, and unflinching. It's an intense but artistic journey in "techno," and one of those few great CDs that makes up for all the crap electronica that gives the genre its awful reputation. From the opening Trip Like I Do to the closing Bad Stone, Vegas is a fast-paced, flashy, and kinetic masterpiece, and one of the few "must own" CDs for any electronic music fan. If you don't love this album, you need new ears, or at least better taste in techno. It's really that simple.

5-0 out of 5 stars The ONE!
This is the ONE TCM cd to own. This is one of my favorite electronica CDs of all time, along with mr.deviant's "Techno Obsession". From the opening track, to the close, "Vegas" delivers the beats in massive amounts! "Trip Like I Do" should be considered a blueprint for all big-beat dance tracks to follow, it's just a perfect song that will shake the foundations as you play it in your car. "Busy Child", "Cherry Twist", these are classics. Unfortunately all the Crystal Method CDs since have been a downhill journey when compared to "Vegas". So there's no reason to gamble on another TCM CD, this is the one to own...let it ride. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's not just about the pink hair anymore.
Sure, she may have caught your eye with her pink hair and fresh lyrics, but this CD offers something even more. Missundaztood is Pink's clear departure from typical music today. As she stated in an interview, she's really laying herself out on a line here. It's dangerous, but sometimes that's what it takes to succeed. Well, Pink, lucky for you - it worked!!!

Pink comes clean on tracks like "Missundaztood" (self-explicable) and the heart-wrenching "Family Portrait", about kids stuck in the middle of a divorce. This is Pink's real life story - when she wrote the song she played it to each of her parents and broke their hearts *sigh*. Other highlights are the determined "18 Wheeler", the sassy "Respect", and the rockin' number "Numb". By singling these ones out I am by no means putting down the rest of the CD - notice I haven't even included tracks 3, 4, and 5, which are all singles.

This multi-faceted album starts out fast and mellows out to allow Pink's honesty some leeway, and the CD ends just as great as it started. It's clear-cut and rockin' smooth, with a little less edge than her debut "Can't Take Me Home". That's not a bad thing, just notes the direction in which her style is leaning as she matures. Her image has also changed a little - but while her name no longer applies to her hair (pink, white, purple, black - whatever) it doesn't seem to matter anymore, Pink is all about the music. Just buy this CD and you'll see what I mean, then maybe you'll understand her. Great CD for Pink fans, or curious converts-in-the-making. For lack of a better word - THIS CD ROCKS!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pink's BEST Album!
I was really amazed when I listened to
this cd. None of the songs are similar! There are songs from
rocking numb to the blues of Misery. I have listened to this cd
for a year and I haven't got bored! And here are ratings for each song (1-10).

Get the party started: 9.5/10 Awesome Party song, good lyrics, makes u wanna move...
18 wheeler: 10/10 one of my favorites, bridge is great
missundaztood: 10/10 soft and simple and... just soo Great!
dear diary: 9.5/10: this is quite nice and catchy!
Eventually 10-/10 best slow song, far, far, far away from boring!
Numb: 9/10 Í didn't like this at firs, but it's quite nice and ROCKING!
Just like a pill: 10+/10 perfect! Best pink song! Tough lyrics, really catchy!
Family portrait: 9/10 good ballad, P!nk gets emotional...
Misery: 9.5/10 Steven Tyler is soo good in this! ...and P!nk of course. Nice blues...
Respect: 8/10 Fast, powerful, but not my favorite from the cd.
Don't let me get me 10/10 Really, really good, quite rocking, I never get bored on this!
Gone to California 7.5/10 It's nice, but too slow for me.
Lonely girl 10/10 One of my favs, great duet with Linda Perry, great chorus, great everything..

4-0 out of 5 stars ...not bad...4 sum1 who disses pop & is herself a pop artist
i love this CD. I bought it mainly for Just Like A Pill and found that most of the songs on her appeal to me. The beats and sounds of this make for great party music.

i dont get why she's classified as a pop artist tho...some of the music sounds poppy, but not completely...shes more alt/punk or pop/punk...

good CD....that wraps it up

4-0 out of 5 stars this is the sound for her!
The first album was cute but this one is better. The sound she had for this album seems to fit her better. My favorite is "My Vietnam" and "Family Portrait". "Don't Let me get me" is close to home for me. This is my anthem. Her future albums should sound a lot like this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good.
This album is 100% better than her first one. This one has better tracks such as 'family Portrait' that is personal and lovely. 'Get the party started' is incredibly catchy and a great dance song. 'R.E.S.P.E.C.T' is a really cool song that has a good beat about it. I love all the songs on P!nk's albuma nd think that she is an talented singer that just does not care about what other people think about her!!! I think that her voice is.... fab!!! I am so happy she was discovered as a artist because i would hate to think of her as a undiscovered talent that only sings at talent shows and in her bedroom!! ... Read more
