4-0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic sounds from THE freestyle diva
I recently picked up this album, about 10 years late in the game...but I was 14 when it was released in 1994, so I didn't know about it back then. Anyhow, this is a great look at old-school Jocelyn.

With 'Lovely', you can't help but reminisce about those skating rink moments, skating to the upbeat, fast freestyle music. The production is really indicative of its time, the freestyle beats that are dated now, but were cool back then. There are some great gems on this album "I Feel For You", "Big Love", and her beautiful ballads "Never the One" and "You are the One." The more somber tune "I Never Thought Love Would Break My Heart" is superb, too...with the combination of piano and Jocelyn's vocal stylings- you cannot go wrong! My only complaint is the last reprise track- what was the point of that?? It was like 43 seconds of uselessness.

This is a nice collector's item- plus there's some great photos and lyrics inside the cover. When I meet the diva herself, my copy's getting signed!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Find!
I found this CD the other day used at an FYE, and decided to experiment with Jocelyn's older material. I honestly didn't know this CD existed, but I'm glad I found it. The faster songs on the CD show the evolution from classic freestyle to the new school sounds that are pervasive today, and were probably revolutionary in '94 when the album was released. "Make This Last Forever" starts out slow, then explodes into a hot dance track. Jocelyn's vocals totally work with the music and convince you that she wants the relationship to last. My favorite song is "I've Been Thinking About You", which I was introduced to in the Freestyle's Greatest Beats compilation (volume 10 I believe). The electro-funk elements melt into the freestyle elements with ease, creating a smoothly delivered cut that offers a variety of vocals and beats. "Big Love" is a darker dance track, something that would be perfect in the middle of an extended DJ set. "Only" is a powerful ballad sung over a happy melody, sure to bring a smile to anyone who listens. I recommend this CD for the fast songs. The slower songs offer some good vocals and subject matter, but if you prefer the upbeat, danceable cuts Jocelyn has to offer, give this CD a try. It's a treat, and a fun history lesson. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars SUPERIOR VOCALS, BUT...
First of all, I am not taking anything away from his vocals. Lamond always has had one of the most resonant, and powerful ranges in freestyle/dance music. In his Salsa ventures, other than Huey Dunbar and Marc Anthony, I don't think there are any any other male artists today who can compete with his vocal ranges.

However, what hurts this album are the arrangements. "Que te Vas" is probably the most innovative arrangement on here, considering it's one of the only tracks on the album that received any playtime on Latin radio stations.

I expected something better from George Lamond in his Salsa crossover. Like I said earlier, he has a superb singing ability. What he needs to do is get some more aggressive arrangements if wishes to top some of his fellow contemporaries. The happy, sappy arrangements on this album have a dragging effect.

And if you're going to re-make a song, be a little more gender-neutral next time when you make your choice. "Si tu No Estas" probably drove millions of women crazy because it's a Menudo song. But of course you're going to get under the skin of men like me who really didn't dig Menudo back then - even though some of us respect Ricky Martin's musical contributions today. People are going to gwack at the subtle sexism underlying my remarks, but I'm not holding them back. You have to appeal to everyone in an industry like Salsa, otherwise you will suffer the fate of others who have had unsuccesful cross-overs.

It's a given you're not going to make everyone happy when you record an album. You'll often have people screaming "Yuck, this stuff reaks of salsa romance, yadda, yadda, yadda...not real salsa..yadda..yadda." I am a big fan of today's Salsa as much as the Old School stuff. But, George Lamond can do better than this. I know you can! Deliver on your next album.

4-0 out of 5 stars The man is back with a Salsa beat!
George Lamond became the king of freestyle with classics like "Bad of the Heart", "Where Does That Leave Love", and his duet with Brenda K. Starr "No Matter What". Now he's back with his first Salsa CD, "Entrega". George shines on the #1 smash "Que Te Vas", a masterpiece written by Mexican-born singer-composer Juan Gabriel. He also re-made Menudo's classic hit "If you're not here" in Salsa and sounds as good as Robi Rosa did on the original. If you like romantic, Marc Anthony style Salsa, this one's for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not As Great As His Second Album But A Good Start
Can't deny that "Que Te Vas" became a worthy smash hit in the summer of 99' even on the weekend tropical slot at spanish pop ballad station in Houston. The song took me by surprise the first time I heard it when it picked up the tempo half way through the song on the piano solo. The rest of the album starts slowing down and fading away, but I took it as a sign for a better album next time, and it happened.

5-0 out of 5 stars El es un cantante guapisimo!
I had never heard George Lamond until I listened to the music samples on Amazon. I was instantly infatuated. I am a huge fan of DLG and his voice had a Huey Dunbar quality to it. Except it was also uniquely George. Every one of his songs is so soulful and full of energy. It is a perfect album for salsa dancing. I luv how the CD is also multimedia--the music video is definitely worth chesking out, as is the interview. I was thrilled to learn he was born February 25th. My birthday is the 26th and this had a special importance to me. The fact that someone so talented was born so closely to my birthdate makes me honored to be a Pisces. Please, listen to the sample on Amazon and buy this CD.

4-0 out of 5 stars cool
I bought this cd not hearing any of the songs. Que te vas is a really good song, I love it. I imagine George Lamond will continue with tons of success in teh future with his salsa music, it rocks. He seems very true to his fans. I e-mailed him and he even wrote me back... that is awesome. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best BBB album of all time!!!
I've loved Bad Boys Blue for years, their music is awesome, just makes you wanna get up and dance, but this CD totally blew me away. Most of the remixes of their old songs are even better then the original, especially classics like Totally Miss You and I Am Your Believer. Some of the new songs are out of this world, they instantly became my new favorites. Power Of The Night is very upbeat, perfect for dancing. Can't Live Without You is not only danceable but great for listening, makes you wanna sing along. Baby Don't Miss Me is slower then usual BBB, sad and gorgeous. The rest of them are amazing too. There's not one lousy track in this album, which very few albums by other artists can claim. If you love dance music, especially European and a bit of 80's flavor, this is an absolute must have.

3-0 out of 5 stars :-0
I've been looking for this cd since my freshman year in highschool. I went to camp one summer and some kid had this cd and I got hooked. Unfortunatly I never wrote down the name of the band!! It's great 80's dance music that's light and full of energy.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very Mediocre
I find it difficult to believe this could be rated highly.

The second track, "Totally Miss You" is quite good. Most of the rest is very uninspiring indeed: "House of Silence '99" is just one of many examples of poor tracks.

Rather gratuitously, the band members bear uncanny resemblances to nightclub bouncers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bad Boys Blue - Continued
I got this CD for my birthday. I love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This CD totally blew me out of the water. I ordered a bunch of old Eurobeat CD's from Amazon the other day, but this one was the best of the bunch by far. By the fourth song you'll be tempted to go back to the beginning and start again before you finish the CD...trust me, this is THAT good. This is money well spent if you like 80's dance music, but with a 90's remix feel to it! ... Read more

Man, these mexicans were the first to come out and put it down. I had gotten the tape "Spanish fly" long long time ago. I heard and was hooked i unfortunaly broke the tape, well i actually played it to much and it got worn out or something. I had to go get the Cd and man is this cd tight. The beats are wicked and the flows are sick, put both of them together and you have a fly classic. Ese Daz is a good rapper but Rich Roc (RIP) wrote mostly all the lyrics. They have a new cd coming out this July 2002. After ten years this new cd should be another classic and a must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Muy Caliente!!
I LOVE Brenda K Starr. This album is FANTASTIC!! One of the highlights on this record is the new salsa version of Brenda's hit song "I Still Believe". These songs have a sensual and upbeat flow. If you like salsa music and latin rhythms, you will LOVE this album. I would also recommend acquiring her other salsa albums "Te Sigo Esperando" and "Petalos de Fuego", I have them both and they are phenomenal. Brenda is a phenomenal artist who has inspired numerous singers like Mariah Carey to name one. I am also an aspiring singer and when I do talent showcases I love singing Brenda's "I Still Believe". So all I have to say is "Brenda you go girl!!" This album deserves more than 5 stars but that is all they have for us to rate. This album really is incredible. ... Read more

This three-girl unit was conceived by the Latin Rascals (producers and, later, recording artists in their own right) as a Latina update of the Supremes. The biggest hits on this compilation prove that they are worthy of such great company, though MTV's resistance to freestyle prevented anyone here from becoming a star on the order of Diana Ross. "Show Me" is their most enduring single--with it's yearning lyrics and hyper beats, it's nearly a textbook example of freestyle in its heyday. The Girls break the frenetic mood with a token ballad, a cover of Rose Royce's "Wishing on a Star." --John Sanchez ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Freestyle Group
The Cover Girls greatest hits is just that! Their greatest music off of 4 albums. "Show me" was their first big hit and "Because of you" was another dance hit for them. Besides Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam there was no other group who really made freestyle big.

"We can't go wrong" was a smash hit ballad for the group and it peaked at #2. However, Michelle Valentine had taken over the lead vocals after Angel Sabater left the group and she relishes the lead on the funky "Wishing on a star". Their version of the song was actually a bigger hit than the original by ROSE ROYCE and it fit the group really well.

"My heart skips a beat" and "Inside outside" are essential 80's dance and freestyle and show why the group was a stay on the dance charts. A thumping remake of the TEENA MARIE classic "I need your lovin'" is also featured as the girls pay tribute to LADY T! This package sums up their collection really well and any fan of 80's/early 90's dance and freestyle will find this rewarding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good cover girls greatest hits album for a good price
The Cover Girls greatest hits album does it's job well. This collection released on the freestyle label Mars contains a lot of their hits counting four from their 1987 debut album and My heart skips a beat and All that glitters isn't gold from their 1989 out of print and hard to find album We can't go wrong and then we go into three tracks taken from their 1992 album Here it is. The Cover Girls version of the oldies classic Wishing on a star is actually one of the best covers ever done. The big question is why on earth did Funk Boutique get released as a single? When I listened to my copy of Here it is I dicovered that the Cover girls only sing the first parts of the song and the rest is just boring until you hear them at the end of the song. Last but not least is the ballad thank you that is very beautiful. If you want this album don't expect I need your lovin' from The Cover Girls recent satisfy album that is on Warlock's version. A good cd if you want to hear the best from Margo Urban Louise Sabater Caroline M. Jackson Sunshine Wright and Michelle Valentine Buy It Regis

5-0 out of 5 stars Show Me, Show Me, How Much You Love This! Freestyle!
NYC-based latino group "The Cover Girls" where the live example how can overproduced dance-pop would work just fine. This Greatest Hits resumes the girls career in music industry. Although never reconigzed as a strong force in the 80's scene, the Cover Girls where one of the top acts of freestyle. "Show Me" their first single show an easy to swallow-way to sing catchy songs that fitted, great beginning hittinhg # 44 back in early 1987, "Because Of You" although less appealing that "Show Me" it broke them into the top 40 scene at #27, make it their first single to be played in massive radio at the end of 1987, "Inside Outside" came as a redeem of their freestyle ways, great closure for their first album promotion, wich feature pure dance-love songs, except for "Promise" wich in fact was thier first ballad and second single to hit the top 40 at #40. With Capitol Records promotion came "My Heart Skips To The Beat" a danceable more poppish song than freestyle, but still had that latino flavour, produce by Cole & Clivilles, became thier thrid top 40 at #38 at the end of summer 1989 caught between Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson hysteria, the Cover Girls will try to appeal to mature audience with the ballad "We Can't Go Wrong" hitting the top 10 for the first time at #8 at the end of 1989, with the whole buss, became sodas adevertisement and opening concerts to NKOTB, as the Cover Girls seems to reach a star status, although different from Abdul they wouldn't be MTV favs, lead singer Sabater, left the group, confusing fans and industry, the next single flop, but continuing with the force, and with Epic records, The Cover Girls reach for a new funky way with their new single in 1991, "Funk Boutique, an instrumental maine song, with a funky beat and the vocals in the back, it didn't click in the radio reaching a modest #55, the girsl waited til their next single "Wishing On A Star" a remake of Rose Royce, done in a proper way, as luck stroke the girls, the ballad became their second top 10 single reaching the #9 spot, odd enough, that the Cover Girls were known for their freestyle-funkyness appeal, the ballads had became their friends and top singles, for that said, "Thank You" became their next single and last to hit the top 100, spotted at #75, this ballad just didn't work for the radio and the fans, for the rest, the Cover Girls achieve much in the 80's and 90's, and didn't became a mimick of themselves, their easy to dance a sing a long music were the perfect blend to a decade that needed less complicated music, this Greatest Hits includes all the needed hits and the escence of the Cover Girls.

3-0 out of 5 stars Where is "Don't Stop Now" ?
I loved this single and it is obviously missing from this disk.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great 80's Batman!!
What can say? This album drips of the 80's and I love it, love it, love it!! Can't get enough synth-pop and layered vocals? Here's your album! The best songs are, of course, their hits: Show Me, Because of You, My Heart Skips a Beat and Wishing on a Star. I love trips down memory lane and this album gets me there! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Freestyle Freestyle Freestyle
I love this old school freestyle it takes me back in the day even though I am currently only 18. Here are some of the freestyle musicians that I recommend but not in any particular order:

Lil' Suzy
Cynthia
Stevie B
Johhny O
Johnny Z
Collage
Rockell
Debbie Deb

There are many other good ones but those are the main ones that I can remember and to the people who are just now listening to this old school freestyle these songs are from the 80's mostly. But they still are the best freestyle.

5-0 out of 5 stars HOT NEW ARTIST ANDREA- NEW FREESTYLE/DANCE ARTIST!
This is a great CD thats profiling a HOT new artist Andrea. ON this CD you can find her as (Andrea, Amrose, Kristina, Intrepid and by a spelling mistake Andre). The re-makes of Show Me and Never Again are classic freestyle songs with some updated HOT music and vocals. The freestyle re-make of "Genie in a Bottle" is not Andreas most powerful vocal song but still sounds great and has a phat beat. Intrepid feat Andrea- "Eternal Love", "Tell Me Why" and "Please Don't Go" are all great jams with a variety of talented freestyle producers. I highly reccomend this CD. Also great songs by Tolga and Ray Guell. The other 2 or 3 male vocal songs are hideous! There are 18 songs. If you have any questions please e-mail: MikeC5426@aol.com ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Foundation for Quality Freestyle Music
This CD is one of the classics and every Freestyle dance music fan should have it. It has great Freestyle tracks like "Bad of the Heart," "Love's Contagious," "Without You," and "Look Into My Eyes." They are very energetic tracks that will make you move and dance. The CD is well balanced with beautiful ballads like "Serenade You," "Passing Time," and "No Matter What." These ballads show George LaMond's versatility and range as a singer. George LaMond's voice, talent, and energy are unmatched in my opinion by any other dance music artist. It is one of the few CD's that I am able to listen to from start to finish. In our present day, it is very difficult to find quality Freestyle tracks, much less a quality Freestyle album. George LaMond encompasses the soul of Freestyle with this CD. All the tracks are distinct and there is no repetition in beat. (No planet rock beat!)

3-0 out of 5 stars Good album
This is definitly his best album "bad of the heart", "look into my eyes" and "without you" are classics, "bad of the heart" does carry a planet rock beat though.

5-0 out of 5 stars GEORGE LAMOND!!!WOW!!!!
I was a George Lamond fan. Wow, I hardly ever missed a performance. I remember those Roseland, Palladium, nights!!!
Without YOU, Bad of the Heart, and Look into my eyes. Classics to treasure forever. May God bless you always wherever you are.

I am searching for that album that was so unjustly discontinued. *sigh*

5-0 out of 5 stars Bad of the Heart is amazing for the spirit and soul
There have been many sources that have introduced me to music - radio, TV, the Internet, even my own simple pure luck. In the case of George LaMond, I have to thank KJoe 105 in St. Joseph, Mo., which also introduced me to such artists as Anything Box and Peach Union. After hearing "Bad of the Heart" on KJoe (the only station in Kansas City to play it initially) in 1990, I became obsessed with George LaMond. After purchasing the remixes for "Bead of the Heart" and "Without You," listening to the full release was just as powerful. George LaMond isn't simply a dance floor wonder; he's an amazing artist with a wonderful voice and has a production team that creates amazing, anthemic music that can move you physically and emotionally.

The release starts off with the title track "Bad of the Heart." And oh, what a start it is! Freestyle at its best, the orchestration and vocals throw you onto the dance floor and create an anthemic piece that you can't deny in dancing and singing along with. Released as a single, this song had pretty big radio and club success. Get the remixes for this one too if you can... they're AWESOME. A little more happy, but carrying on the awesome orchestrations and vocals, "Love's Contagious" is another upbeat, fun dance classic with a positive message. George slows down to power ballad mode with "Serenade You" and its smooth Latin orchestrations. Another ballad, "Passing Time" is slower, a bit more atmospheric and very touching with your basic late 80s light pop/rock feel. But get ready to rev it up again and sweat on the dance floor! Also released as a single, "Without You" is another Freestyle classic, equal in power to "Bad of the Heart" in its orchestration, dance floor appeal and singability (especially the harmonies). There are two sets of remixes for this single. The first remixes came out in '89 or '90 and are amazing! A second set of remixes came out in 1998 (available here at Amazon.com) and are a bit more updated for the late 90s. [Personally, I prefer the original mixes.] Another fun up-tempo dance tune is "Stop that Girl" that takes a bit more of a dance pop feel, though there are still some awesome Freestyle elements. "Who Needs Love" slows down to something of a classic early 90s r&b pop ballad with its bouncy syncopation and almost whispered vocals and a bridge rap (a scary comparison, but it sounds very similar to Milli Vanilli). Back to Freestyle, "Look Into My Eyes" was another single close in power to the previous singles, but it didn't fare quite as well as its predecessors in the charts. However, there's no denying its power, and you easily get lost in the orchestrations as you dance and sing along. A little funkier in its style and beat, "What Could've Been" is great attitude dance floor material with another cool rapped bridge. The release ends on a slower, pop-ballad note with "No Matter What," a beautiful duet with Brenda K. Starr (remember her?).

George LaMond is an amazing artist whom I respect immensely. Bad of the Heart is an incredible debut and gets a strong 5 star rating, placing easily within my top 50 releases of all time. This release introduced me to Freestyle music, and it fueled my desire to create fun, upbeat, layered, and powerful dance music. And even as George has released several excellent follow up albums, this one still holds a special place in my heart after all these years. Listening to Bad of the Heart was an epiphany for me, and its influence will stay with me for the rest of my life.

If you love to dance, if you loved the music scene in the late 80s/early 90s, you MUST have this release in your collection. Layered, anthemic orchestrations coupled with awesome lyrics and vocals make this an easy purchase decision for anyone who has ever loved to get out on a dance floor. Musicians who also enjoy great pop/dance/Freestyle compositions will get a definite earful from this release and a lot of inspiration. And if you like "Bad of the Heart" and "Without You," try to find the remix singles released back in 1989/1990. They're worth every penny and every moment of listening to them!

Even before the Latin/Hispanic music revolution taking place today in 2000, George LaMond was making his mark as an accomplished artist with an amazing talent. Thank you, George, for sharing with us. Your talent, power, and beauty have been a blessing to anyone who has shared in experiencing your amazing musical talent. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
I loved the remixes of Take it While it's Hot, Never Let You Go, and Hooked on You!

4-0 out of 5 stars "Sweet" Music
Remixes are a must for any fan of a dance act, and this album gives a satisfying dose of Late 80's club attitude. The remixes, for the most part, are nice progressions of the originals. However, "Each and Every Time" gets butchered and looses its fresh sound. Thumbs down to the CD's art director...put a 4-color photo of the girls on the cover for crying out loud!

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than a greatest hits album - it is time to jam!
If you like olds school dance beats, This girl group had the right stuff. This remix album of greatest hits showcases all good club mixes and extended versions without over doing it. The hits "Take it while it's hot" and The Supremes remake of "Love child" make it a must have for any club kid's collection. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of most underrated albums ever!!!
This is great album. Very cool production, cool beatz. METROTHEME is great track, one of best i ve ever heard!
ACTUAL is very dope, beatz are great (Dj Premier best work),
and J Mega and Greg VAlentine are cool too.
This album has some brilliant tracks like "Metrotheme", "Hot Joint", "Actual", "Just live", of course.
Also there are some good calm tracks like Timez iz Harder, Daydreamin, etc.
There are pair of wack tracks, but album is very dope at all!!!
I can hardly recommend it for all of customers in here!

4-0 out of 5 stars All City is The Hot Joint
Say hello to Greg Valentine and Mega Large, All City. Understudies of ONYX.

To my knowledge, this is one of the most underrated & slept-on albums I can think of. This is everything a late 90's NY hip-hop album should have been. Fresh dope beats, arrogant smooth lyrics and an all-star cast of NY producers.

Listen. DJ Premier did one of his nicest jobs EVER on track 7, The Actual. Pete Rock shines like the sun on track 3, Priceless. Other production by Rockwilder and of course ONYX.

F.Y.I: "Just Live", track 17, is one of the best tracks I have ever heard to this day.

Bottom Line: This is truly a great album. I highly recommend it to any east-coast hip-hop fan. 4 stars. Peace.

2-0 out of 5 stars usual hiphop....
just another hiphop album about partying and being boring...yay for hiphop...

5-0 out of 5 stars Still extremely nice
Just read some reviews about the All City album Metropolis Gold - and I totally disagree with most of them. Everybody complains about the lyrics about money all the time - but has everybody ignored the groove that's in it? Nearly all tracks can be heard without being annoyed. Special favourites: "Hot Joint" and "Daydreaming". Even "Get Paid" is neatly done - sometimes I believe they make fun of rap cliches. Just listen to it. If you like the new album from Naughty by Nature, you will like this one, too. I have it for several months now, and I still like it very much.

3-0 out of 5 stars ALL CITY, ALL RIGHT.
Metropolis Gold is a decent cd. That's it. It's not tremendous in originality because of the redundant theme and beat (except the Premiere track.) This cd got some party tracks and some street tracks. Something for everybody. Due to the played-out themes in Metropolis Gold and the fact these two cats are new to the rap market, All City will have a hard time persuading peeps to pick Metropolis Gold off the shelf....Teddy C reprazent Savannah GA ... 4-0 out of 5 stars NOT BAD AT ALL
To the person from Milwaukee, WI, speaking of Tim's "Heartbeat Collection", been desperately looking for it, anyway I can buy a copy from you?
If so, please contact me at kerwincortez@hotmail.com

Thanks

5-0 out of 5 stars BOOM!!
This CD is awesome! I bought it when it came out and still listen to it to this day. It's one of the best mixes I ever heard. I love how he uses the accapellas over the beats. It a great mega-mix of NEW an OLD Freestyle Favorites.

5-0 out of 5 stars Frankie D. from Fajardo P.R.
I have this cd in my collection and it's one of my favorites. Please help me to find anothers like this because it's hard to find this kind of music{specially mixed}here in P.R.

4-0 out of 5 stars Boom! is good, but not as good as his old mixes
Tim has always been my favorite Freestyle mixer. I used to have all the "Heartbeat" mixes (if you guys thought FSB was good than you MUST find his old "for promo use only" mixes! ). I bought this cd back when it first came out and listened to it for awhile, put it on the shelf for a year then broke it out again last night. It really does have some good songs and is worth the money. THIS IS NOT SOME LAME COMPILATION, THIS IS A GOOD MIX. I guess living in Milwaukee I was spoiled with all his old mixes (Tim is from WI) thats why I was just a little disapointed with FSB. Can't wait for Vol.2.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dope!
All the best freestyle. Smoothest mixes. Tim chose artists with better-than average voices. Cons: too much looping, too many acapellas. Hope there will be a Vol 2! Check out To Kool Chris' mix CD too if you can find it. ... Read more
