2-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BEGINNING SAD ENDING!
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, guilty pleasure of the middle 80's scene, she was the queen of Freestyle by that time, her music was around every club, and her style will remain in many people minds. Her sounds were extremely danceable, although some people thought that her voice was a little bit squirky and anoying, it fitted just great to the type of music she wanted to approach, even her hit ballad "All Cried Out" a bittersweet melody with amazing lyrics, that will be covered later by many, fitted her just great, but undoubtly her greatest achievment was dance music, "Head To Toe", "Lost In Emotion", where #1's the same year and make everybody love this, sadly she became lost in more pop oriented tunes with the next albums, saving only "Let The Beat Hit Em" that it's truly a comeback to the dance music scene, but too late, the magic was lost and we should point to "Little Jackie Wants To Be A Star" as guilty for throwing Lisa's career to oblivion, but if you forget that and concentrate on the early materials you will find an artist that surface out of the bunch, because they were talented and had a new flavor to offer to the public.

4-0 out of 5 stars Take it Home
The queen of Latin Hip-hop soul, Lisa Lisa shines on this set of big eighties pop hits with her crew Cult Jam. The songs for the most part are all upbeat dance gems that are very influential (ask Jennifer Lopez or even Janet Jackson for the matter) and full of great beats. The set really hits is stride with ahead of their time early tracks like "Can You Feel The Beat" and "I Wonder If I Take You Home" which prove that the Latin grooves can make great dance music and are brightly vivid songs about young love. These tracks make some of the best pop around now very seem lacking. Big hits like "Head To Toe" and the sweet "Lost In Emotion" is excellent modern mid eighties pop productions with a little soul influence in the vocals. Pure magic on CD these songs are. Prom classic "All Cried Out" is a lot more innocent on here than the over produced Allure version ever could try to be. "Someone To Love Me For Me" is very beautiful. "Let The Beat Hit "Em" is a powerful club hit from the likes of Clivilles and Cole. Basically the rest of the set leads astray with the lame R&B of "Something About Love" and an unnecessary Full Force feature "U Never Knew How Good U Had It". The set is excellent but the weak songs drag it down ("Little Jackie..." is iffy pop, but cute), but I think we can credit Full Force with blessing us with this set of dance gems that are as good now as they were in the mid eighties.

5-0 out of 5 stars 1985- THE YEAR Lisa and her Cult Jam came out
True Lisa Lisa& Cult Jam fans know that Full Force produced the group. Everyone loves how they brought serious flava to the 80's
Lisa and Full Force did a great Job on "Someone to Love me For Me" Full Force was great, and Lisa added that special touch!!!!!
The cult jam added their good beats, and together they became Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam...often featuring Full Force
I like "This is Cult Jam" it was original, it was fun, and it really showed how cult jam played part in the group.
"I wonder if I take You Home" was their first hit
next it was "Can You Feel the Beat" "All cried out" and"Behind My eyes"
On their 1987 album.... I like "Playing with fire" "A fool is born everyday" "Lost in Emotion" and "Head to Toe" very good
I forogt what album but "Little Jackie wants to be a star" is another good one!!!!
Who could forget...Someone to Love me for me
the duet with full force...very good!!!!!!
i like the part when lisa says " if your in love with someone, make sure they love you for who you are, and not for the material things that surround you" and full force says afterwards" enough said"
they kept it real during the 80's.
1991'S lET THE bEAT hIT EM
on their "Straight out of hell's kitchen" was also great!

5-0 out of 5 stars *Sigh* 80's Nostalgia
Anyone who is familiar with mid/ late 80's pop has got to remember Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and the great jams they cranked out. All of the big ones are here. You get both of their fabulous #1 hits. "Head To Toe" starts out like a Supremes song and then takes off with a terrific catchy chorus *instantly recognizable.* "Lost In Emotion" was the other #1 and is just as great. Then you have the slow song "All Cried Out" which is beautiful and although Lisa Lisa comes off as sort of whiny, it justifies the song so it's forgivable. "Youuuuuu you leave me so confuuuused, now I'm all cried out...over you." An 80's slow jam classic. Plus, you get the great free-style dance jams that put them on the map in the first place. Who can forget "I Wonder If I Take You Home" or one of my faves "Can You Feel the Beat." A MUST buy for 80's music fans. I don't care what people say about the 80's. Free-style dance music like Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam is awesome and music just isn't made this fun anymore. If you like this, I also recommend music by Expose and Debbie Gibson. Ear candy to help you forget about your troubles!

5-0 out of 5 stars I REALLY like this album!
I got laughed at by the saleslady for buying this album. She looked at me as if, "What is this teenager doing buying a Lisa Lisa album?". I didn't care because I had grown up listening to Lisa Lisa on the radio when she was singing "Head To Toe" and plus I really liked her other hits like "I Wonder If I Take You Home" and "All Cried Out" so it was something I was willing to shell out cash for. I love this album because the music is pretty orginal, Lisa Lisa has a style that is unbeatable, the lyrics are catchy and those breakdancing beats are really danceable. My fave track has to be "I Wonder If I Take You Home" but I like the classics like "All Cried Out", "Head To Toe", "Lost In Emotion" and "Can You Feel The Beat". I also liked "Let The Beat Hit 'Em" and "Something 'Bout Love". This is the perfect dance album and one that you can play at parties, it's one of my personal faves and I recommend that anybody should buy this album and don't be afraid to just because it's old school! :) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Freestyle fans this cd is for you
Freestyle was a sound different from the mainstream. It was a latin hip-hop sound in which at times seem like sugar to the ears. But it was the sound that with help shape the eurodance sound of the mid to late 90's.Freestyle was the teen pop of many latino and non latino kids in the city.Withs its theme in love and heartbreak over latin flavored hip-hop.It was a moment in time and a sound of the late 80's teenager. Even know it never got as big as new jack swing it did leave its mark on dance pop.If you listen to the eurodance artists like amber, the real mccoys and labouche you will hear the keyboard licks of freestyle. As an Dj i'm always asked what music did i start playing first when i started djing 16 years ago.Freestyle was the first music i spun back in the day.All the songs on this cd was what i spun and they were popular. For me this cd really gives you the flavor of freestlye when it started going mainstream. Also when the sound started to die out.So pick it up and party your body

I started to listen the radio in english,at that time the music that was playig, it was freestyle.Like I say I didn`t understand english, but all the beat`s,the music, the voices of the singer`s,made me love it till know & forever I used to like disco music, like the BEE GEES,DONNA SUMERS,GLORIA GAYNNOR,THE COMODORES,K.C &THE SUNSHINE BAND.They were good, but like the decade of freestyle,it`s never going to be.I just hope,we the people who like freestyle we never let`it died

5-0 out of 5 stars "Goin Crazy" With Talent!
At one point, Natalie believed her music career would never come. Then out of nowhere, things started happening. Will she end up another 1-hit-wonder like most kid acts who debuted in 2004, NO!Natalie has the talent; she's a singer/songwriter/ producer/choreographer/dancer.Enough said!Natalie is a 19-year old Latina who is the girl behind the #1 smash hit single, "Goin Crazy."The single is smooth R&B, laced with a Latin feel. The promo CD came to DJ's in just a downloaded CD with the singer & song title written on it.Despite the appearance of the promo CD, the song is amazing, containing lyrics souly written by the artist herself--Natalie."Goin Crazy" ended up being the #1 most selling single on the charts from when it debuted, and followed on to hit #1 six times on the Billboard Top 200 Single Sales Chart. It is still in the Top 5, and Natalie deserves it!Her second single--"Energy" was the most added song to Top 40 radio last week, making us realize she has the talent and skill to not end up like those 1-hit-wonders who debuted in 2004!

5-0 out of 5 stars Natalie's First Single
"Goin' Crazy" is a song written by Natalie. In an interview with Thabiz she said this song will always be special to her. Natalie is a twentysomething singer/songwriter who is a former Houston Rocket's dancer. This slow ballad is a favorite with teens and hit number one on the Billboard Top Singles chart (not to be confused with the Billboard Hot 100).This is the first single from Natalie's debut self-titled single and will be followed up by the second single "Energy" featuring Baby Bash.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good!
The first time I heard this song I thought it was alright. But now that I hear it a lot on the radio I really like it and I can't wait until her album comes out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Start of a new era of Latin Soul
This is a landmark song in terms of Latin soul. Instead of the fake R&B that's plaguing the airwaves, finally a new sound has developed. Great production reminiscent of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Its ahead of its time. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars THEY WERE NO "ONE HIT WONDER".
Expose came on the scene in the mid 80s with their first single "Exposed To Love", from there on it was one hit after another.

Definitely one of the best dance groups ever to come out of the 80s, with Top 10 hits "Come Go With Me", "Seasons Change" and "What You Don't Know".

Also has a remake remixed version of "I Specialize in Love", and remixes of "Point of No Return" which is great!, and a poor remix of "Come Go With Me"- why I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars.

"Come Go With Me" was one of my favorite 80s and Expose songs, and they botched it up with the remix.

Other hits include "When I Look At Him" and "Let Me Be The One".

I do feel however when Giola left the group due to vocal problems, Expose never had the same punch.

However, an excellent compilation of a once great dance group whose music stands the test of time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cool, 80's dance music!
This is an outstanding collection that chronicles the first ten years of their career from 1985-95. Ann Curless, Gioia, Jeanette Jurado, and Kelly Moneymaker. Kelly replaced Gioia prior to the 1992 album due to Gioia experiencing irreparable throat damage. Expose never missed a beat. This collection features the uptempo hits: 'Come Go With Me', 'What You Don't Know', 'Point Of No Return', 'Let Me Be The One' and 'Tell Me Why'. Also the classic slower ballads: 'When I Looked At Him', 'I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me', 'Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue' and my fav Expose song the unforgettable #1 hit from 1988, 'Seasons Change'. Also a few remixes and a couple of new tracks: 'I'll Say Goodbye For The Two Of Us' and a newly recorded version of the 1960's song 'End Of The World', are included for a total of 15 killer cuts. These songs bring back some great memories, and they make you want to get up and dance. Get this one and take a trip back in time to when music was cool. I've owned it since it's release in '95, and it never gets old. Also there are comprehensive liner notes, and cool photos in the booklet. If you don't have it, get it. ROCK ON!

4-0 out of 5 stars A guilty pleasure
I can't really say I am a big fan of pop music nowadays. Most of it I consider just complete useless and disposable. Too much of it is based on image and too synthesized and artificial. Pop music today isn't nothing like pop music ten years ago. One of my favorite pop groups back in the '80s (when pop wasn't a complete embarassment to admit to enjoying) was Expose. Their songs were incredibly catchy and fun to dance to. Personally I'll take them over Destiny's Child. I absolutely loved their debut album. I loved "Point of No Return" and I still do to this very day. Expose may have been no Joni Mitchell but their music was fun. I also loved their ballads too. I wished they had included "As Long As I Can Dream" which was the most beautiful ballad the trio had sung. It actually moved me and I don't say that about most pop ballads. Still the group's cover of "End of the World" made up for the absence of "As Long As I Can Dream". "End of the World" is absolutely breathtaking to listen to. I also love "I'll Say Good Bye For the Two of Us". The only ballad that I was iffy on was their hit "Seasons Change". It isn't bad but I feel that their latter ballads were vastly superior. My favorite dance song from the trio is "What You Don't Know". I have always loved that song and always will. Although they are no longer around, I still enjoy listening to Expose from time to time.

3-0 out of 5 stars 2 many changes
The original Recording group for Expose not present on this album Lori Ollie and Sandra got the group started then the group was revamped and rerecorded by Jeanette Ann and Gioia they made Expose what it was and is in our hearts at one point for about the year that seasons change was number one Julie Albers took Gioia's place. For a short time after that Gioia went back but eventually she left the group again. The last kiss of death version if you will was Jeanette Ann and Kelly They are pictured on this album yet Gioia is still the voice on many of the leads of this album.. Jeanette had a catchy voice but be assured every time you here a ballsy kick your a** vocal it is Gioia's ..on this CD as well as the previous CD's from Expose you have heard It is worth the listen I just wanted to give You all the facts first. After all I was in the group for a year:)

3-0 out of 5 stars exposure
This is a pretty good cd for it's collection value. I liked them mixes, but there is a really good remix of Come Go With Me out there somewhere called the extended mix. It's 6:30 long. If anyone know how I can find it on cd, contact me. Thanks. ... Read more

This is delicious bubble-gum dance music from one of Miami's biggest male artists. A Florida native, Stevie B became one of the early leaders of freestyle music with the breakout hit "Party Your Body" in 1988, followed by increasingly successful songs such as "I Wanna Be the One" and "Love Me for Life." Stevie also set himself apart from the pack by writing and producing his own music, which was very rare for an '80s dance star. The hits stopped coming in the '90s, though Stevie B continues to record and, as this collection shows, has already left a swooningly romantic--and infinitely danceable--legacy. --John Sanchez ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best of Stevie B's Greatest Hits
You may see this album and another album called "Stevie B - The Greatest Hits" and wonder what the difference is.

Well, "The Best of Stevie B" contains many of Stevie's early and most well known songs: Spring Love, I Wanna Be the One, In My Eyes, Because I Love You, Dreamin of Love, and a few others. Because it only is a complation of the earliest hits, it contains some filler stuff from his earlier albums that might not as well known.

However, this is still worth it. The other greatest hits album contains REMIXES of hits like Spring Love, etc and thus this album is the only one where you can get the original mixes.

I recommend this album as well as the other album as good complements to each other. This one give you the older material in it's original form. The other album gives you remixed older songs, but some of Stevie's newer and less known material.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Album to Rembember, great artist Missed.
Hi all i recommend this cd to buy. My favorite songs are dreamin of love, spring love, broken hearted, love me for life, and beacuse i love you the postman song. this is a good freestyle cd.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE BEST

4-0 out of 5 stars GOOD STUFF!
This album is really old, but the music is still young and fresh. I finally got a copy of the cd from my cousin a few days ago and I've been listening to it everyday. It's great to create moments with your lover, the beats and his powerful voice will get you dancing! Everytime I hear track number 8 my adrenaline always run high, I sometimes have to control myself in the car whenever I'm listening to it in the car, every morning I play it I just want to wake up and dirty dance with my babe... STEVIE B YOUR THE MAN! GREAT GIFT FOR LOVERS!

    5-0 out of 5 stars Stevie B.
I love Stevie B's music and freestyle music. Stevie B was the biggest of the freestyle ear with the exception of Expose. He had many top twenty hits but his biggest song was "Because I Love You" which was 1 for 4 weeks. This album of his greatest hits is great and should be owned by freestyle fans. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Freestyle Group
The Cover Girls greatest hits is just that! Their greatest music off of 4 albums. "Show me" was their first big hit and "Because of you" was another dance hit for them. Besides Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam there was no other group who really made freestyle big.

"We can't go wrong" was a smash hit ballad for the group and it peaked at #2. However, Michelle Valentine had taken over the lead vocals after Angel Sabater left the group and she relishes the lead on the funky "Wishing on a star". Their version of the song was actually a bigger hit than the original by ROSE ROYCE and it fit the group really well.

"My heart skips a beat" and "Inside outside" are essential 80's dance and freestyle and show why the group was a stay on the dance charts. A thumping remake of the TEENA MARIE classic "I need your lovin'" is also featured as the girls pay tribute to LADY T! This package sums up their collection really well and any fan of 80's/early 90's dance and freestyle will find this rewarding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good cover girls greatest hits album for a good price
The Cover Girls greatest hits album does it's job well. This collection released on the freestyle label Mars contains a lot of their hits counting four from their 1987 debut album and My heart skips a beat and All that glitters isn't gold from their 1989 out of print and hard to find album We can't go wrong and then we go into three tracks taken from their 1992 album Here it is. The Cover Girls version of the oldies classic Wishing on a star is actually one of the best covers ever done. The big question is why on earth did Funk Boutique get released as a single? When I listened to my copy of Here it is I dicovered that the Cover girls only sing the first parts of the song and the rest is just boring until you hear them at the end of the song. Last but not least is the ballad thank you that is very beautiful. If you want this album don't expect I need your lovin' from The Cover Girls recent satisfy album that is on Warlock's version. A good cd if you want to hear the best from Margo Urban Louise Sabater Caroline M. Jackson Sunshine Wright and Michelle Valentine Buy It Regis

5-0 out of 5 stars Show Me, Show Me, How Much You Love This! Freestyle!
NYC-based latino group "The Cover Girls" where the live example how can overproduced dance-pop would work just fine. This Greatest Hits resumes the girls career in music industry. Although never reconigzed as a strong force in the 80's scene, the Cover Girls where one of the top acts of freestyle. "Show Me" their first single show an easy to swallow-way to sing catchy songs that fitted, great beginning hittinhg # 44 back in early 1987, "Because Of You" although less appealing that "Show Me" it broke them into the top 40 scene at #27, make it their first single to be played in massive radio at the end of 1987, "Inside Outside" came as a redeem of their freestyle ways, great closure for their first album promotion, wich feature pure dance-love songs, except for "Promise" wich in fact was thier first ballad and second single to hit the top 40 at #40. With Capitol Records promotion came "My Heart Skips To The Beat" a danceable more poppish song than freestyle, but still had that latino flavour, produce by Cole & Clivilles, became thier thrid top 40 at #38 at the end of summer 1989 caught between Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson hysteria, the Cover Girls will try to appeal to mature audience with the ballad "We Can't Go Wrong" hitting the top 10 for the first time at #8 at the end of 1989, with the whole buss, became sodas adevertisement and opening concerts to NKOTB, as the Cover Girls seems to reach a star status, although different from Abdul they wouldn't be MTV favs, lead singer Sabater, left the group, confusing fans and industry, the next single flop, but continuing with the force, and with Epic records, The Cover Girls reach for a new funky way with their new single in 1991, "Funk Boutique, an instrumental maine song, with a funky beat and the vocals in the back, it didn't click in the radio reaching a modest #55, the girsl waited til their next single "Wishing On A Star" a remake of Rose Royce, done in a proper way, as luck stroke the girls, the ballad became their second top 10 single reaching the #9 spot, odd enough, that the Cover Girls were known for their freestyle-funkyness appeal, the ballads had became their friends and top singles, for that said, "Thank You" became their next single and last to hit the top 100, spotted at #75, this ballad just didn't work for the radio and the fans, for the rest, the Cover Girls achieve much in the 80's and 90's, and didn't became a mimick of themselves, their easy to dance a sing a long music were the perfect blend to a decade that needed less complicated music, this Greatest Hits includes all the needed hits and the escence of the Cover Girls.

3-0 out of 5 stars Where is "Don't Stop Now" ?
I loved this single and it is obviously missing from this disk.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great 80's Batman!!
What can say? This album drips of the 80's and I love it, love it, love it!! Can't get enough synth-pop and layered vocals? Here's your album! The best songs are, of course, their hits: Show Me, Because of You, My Heart Skips a Beat and Wishing on a Star. I love trips down memory lane and this album gets me there! ... Read more

One of the most successful freestyle groups, TKA brings to the music confident beats crossbred with heart-on-sleeve, bleeding male egos. Discovered while the three youths entertained at a Sweet 16 party by singing over hip-hop instrumentals, TKA were an early inspiration for the sped up, Latinized hip-hop that birthed the freestyle phenomenon. All the hits here pit lush, romantic vocals against immaculately polished beats and synths. Like all the best freestyle, TKA's hits get inside the teenage mind through the lyrics and the teenage body through irresistible dance grooves. --John Sanchez ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars TKA: The best Freestyle group ever!
These three young latin heart-throbs dominated the dance scene in the late 1980's and early 1990's. This is a must collection to anyone's Freestyle collection, no questions asked. This Greatest Hits takes one back to day they first fell in love. In addition, the three are back! They are putting out an album sometime in 2000. Check out their other albums and check out Angel's, the lead singer, project group called "K7" that had hits like "Swing Batta SWing" and "Body Rock". 2 thumbs up! If anyone has any questions on artists or songs of freestyle music, please feel free to email me at MUGEN0977@AOL.COM

5-0 out of 5 stars TKA rules!
Great! All of TKA's songs all on one album. I love it! Very good! Nice beats, good back ups! If you like Tka; this is a must have!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Top Three Best Overall CDs I Own
If you want a cd of non stop tracks that always please your heart and mind, this is it. EVERY single song on here is good. Where else, especially today where you get a cd for one song and the other 12 or so are terrible, are you going to find a cd actually worth the money. This cd is like downloading every single good song TKA ever made and burning it onto a cd, except it is done already, making this cd legal lol. When you listen to these songs you can't help but to think of someone you dated and then broke up with over a stupid reason and wish you had back, because they strike the heart. They make you realize what to appreciate in the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Definitely buy this cd, no matter age or race or gender.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's DA bomb
If you were like me in 1990 and you drove a mustang or acamaro then you had TKA playing on your tape deck bomming through your kicker box. Z Caverichhi pants were in and you were set all I needed was my TKA and I was set!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Freestyle.
This is really good fresstyle, it goes along with those other great freestyle artists, Expose, Sweet Sensation, Cover Girls, and Stevie B. There songs are catchy and they make you want to dance. Although they were not as popular as other freestyle artists in Boston I like them. I recommend this because one listen and you are hooked. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ohh Just Take Me Back, Way Back!
This is the one and only Freestyle-Mix you'll ever need. It just brings it all back to days where it definetly began, I just got it and my boyz are already trying to swipe it from me. It's got the everything, the right mixes and the way the songs are set up one after another. Don't even think about taking this CD out of the changer!

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS MIX IS HOT!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great CD

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Music Selection, BUT...
This cd has a good music selection! It has alot of songs that I grew up listening to in the 80's and it also has a few new ones I havent heard before. Overall the music titles on the CD get about 4. A 4 because its missing songs by Stevie B, Lisa Lisa and a few others. But, if you are the type of person who doesnt enjoy the mix scratching of music and constant repeat of lyrics before the transition from songs to songs (Like me, I like smooth transitions from songs to songs), this mix does just that, which is why I drop it to a 3 star....Keep partying!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best freestyle mix I've ever bought.
I must have bought at least 10 freestyle mixes in my whole lifetime and most sound the same, but this one beats them all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Terrific Compilation...if only it were mixed
I bought this c.d. set...and I have to say it is a wonderful collection of great classic freestyle hits. I do wish, however, that they were continously mixed just like I grew up listening to them in dance clubs. And that is exactly what KTU's hottest D.J. "Bad Boy Joe" has done with his 2 cd's called "The Best of Freestyle Megamix 1 & 2". These cd's really made the little hairs on my neck stand up...and my heart went a mile a minute. So my suggestion is to purchase both the Freestyle Explosion series as well as Bad Boy Joe's Best of Freestyle Megamix cd's. You'll be glad you did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Where were you in '89?
I have been looking for a compilation of dance hits from when I had just turned legal and was going crazy in the clubs. I have been able to find one or two songs here and there, and I just tripped over this accidentally and started having heart palpitations when I saw the track list. This has absolutely everything that was in the clubs '89-'90, '91. Ahhhh, brings back such incredible memories. I am in 7th heaven over this stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars remember when??
This collection definitely brought back a lot of memories! I would recommend to all of you out there, searching for FREESTYLE at it's best, to BUY, BUY, BUY this collection! You won't regret it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Classics
There are songs in here I haven't heard in years! This was a great set!

5-0 out of 5 stars this stuff's da bomb!!!!!!!!!!!
sure, these songs are staples of dance retrospectives of every urban dance station's playlist. but damn, the playlist on this box. 'i can't wait', let the music play', 'point of no return','let me be the one', 'silent morning','fantasy girl', change on me', 'funky li'l beat'-it's classic. i mean, as i've been sitting here floatin' 'round the internet, i've replayed 'let me be the one' from expose, like, 10 times. buying the individual discs won't cut it cause there's something on each disc that just hits. great 2 listen to on huge speakers or good quality headphones-the electrofunk cuts thru brilliantly. and the chicks on the cover(s) are hot!!!!!!! ;) a definite worthwhile purchase. 2 me, the latin equivalent of the first motown box set. ... Album Description

First-ever best-of album from this legendary dance floor diva!

With Let The Music Play: The Best of Shannon, this legendary dance floor diva’s biggest hits—from her ’80s heyday and her successful ’90s comeback—are finally available on a single disc. This album is a boon to collectors, since much of her material as been out of print for years, and completely unavailable in the CD era.

In 1983, the then unknown singer sang on a dance track produced by neophytes Mark Liggett and Chris Barbosa. Within a few weeks, the 12-inch of "Let The Music Play" was being spun by every DJ in New York City. Shannon followed this success up with a string of chart-topping dance singles, but soon left the music business for a successful stage-acting career. In 1995, she returned to music with the European-only single "It’s Got To Be Love" and appearances on singles by Afrika Bambaataa and Sash!, the latter of which made the U.K. Top Ten in 1998. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
All I can say is BUY THIS CD! It is the best compilation I have ever heard of Freestyle!! you won't be dissappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS CD IS A MUST

5-0 out of 5 stars NOT the same 'ol freestyle hits!
This CD is great! It's not filled with the same songs that are on every Freestyle CD. You'll know & love every song - I dare you to not dance & sing like crazy to this one! Bad Boy Joe is obviously the best freestyle dj around.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bright Boy Joe
A good compilation of classic freestyle songs from the "do you remeber the late 80's and early 90's" time period as the announcer puts it on the first track. Bad Boy Joe does an excellent job mixing the songs to flow together from one track to the next and picks the key parts of every song to actually replay as beats. All the songs are common and can be heard on ktu or any station playing freestyle. My only complaint is that I wouldn't consider these the 2nd best set of songs ever in freestyle. The songs are good, but some I think could have been saved for later volumes, but that is an issue in preference I guess. I would def recommend this for any serious freestlye fan b/c it puts good songs all in one place that are just keep flowing when played.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of those times....
...When I say: This CD is really worth the money.
It includes probably the best and most popular freestyle songs ever made. If you are a freestyle freak - gotta open up the wallet and buy it.
Also consider buying "The Best of freestyle vol. 1". They simply are great together.
Perfect. Nothing else to add. Period. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great mix that flows well and keeps the energy up...
Rarely do I find dance mix CDs that have a great flow. This one kicks off strongly and keeps it going to the very end. Most start strong and fizzle after a few tracks. This one manages to change the pace a bit but still keep the energy throughout the CD. There are many memorable hits such as "I Turn to You" and "Stranger in My House" but also some sleeper ones such as "Santuary" and "Appreciate Me". This one is definitely worth adding to the collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST DANCE CD HANDS DOWN
How good is this cd you ask? Well, its the best, period. It is non stop great club vocals. I am listening to it right now and the mix is unbeatable. "Can't Go On", "I Like It", "More Than Life", and "Stranger In My House" all sound incredible. I can't stop listening to this cd and I just bought it finally. At first I wrote a review saying the song selection could be better but I was wrong. You got to get this if you want the first of hopefully at least 2-3 volumes of the best vocals of the past 5 years.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY F*KEN HOOOOOT MIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love it i love it i love it!! from every track on this CD, it makes u wanna get up and dance!! Usually when i buy these type of CDS, there are only a FEW good songs..but for this one, i must say i like ALL of them!! FANTABULOUS JOB, BADBOY JOE!!! GO OUT N PURCHASE THIS CD & SUPPORT him!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars This CD is DOPE!!!
I love how people who never experienced the NYC Club life have soooo much to say about this cd being wack. First of all...these are songs that bring me back to my EXIT/LIMELIGHT/SOUNDFACTORY days.Second of all....Louie DeVito is totally overrated.AND...why would Bad Boy Joe put the new Wynonna Judd song on his cd if Louie DeVito has it on his special edition re-release of Dance Factory 3?That's his just don't step on other people's toes...that kinda explains why Lil' Cee's cd didn't do that well in record sells. But overall...I love Bad Boy Joe...starting with his Ultramix House Party CD...then his 4 AM sessions CD.....and now with his Vocal house CD.I was never really a fan of that's why I'll leave those out.

Pick up this CD and listen with an open mind....
It's not for everybody - but perfect for some.

This artist put alot of old school hits along with her husband Pretty Tony who also has a awesome CD called Fix it in the Mix. You have to check this one out also. If you like old school? I bought this on record many years ago and was thrilled to see it here on CD. I was very disapointed when my copy arrived and wouldn't play. 5-0 out of 5 stars Bad Boy Joe really digs in the crates for this one!
Being a DJ for over 16 years I can appreciate Joe's work and the approach that he takes on all of his mixes. I own all 6 volumes and each one is masterfully done from a DJ prespective with perfect multi dubbing, editing and mixing reminiscent of old Latin Rascals, Andy Panda, Lewis A Martinee and Chep Nunez style of mixing. This style of mixing requires great creativity and talent which is something Joe seems to posses as he takes on every mix with relentless technique on this compilation of classics. The beats are right on track and the multi editing and dubbing is flawless. I must say the old school B-boy tracks put in the mix in volume 4 are my favorites, B-boy breaker jams like Looking for the perfect beat, Play that beat, I.O.U., Play at your own risk, Jam on it etc. were long overdue for someone to put on a new mix. I hope more of these Electro funk jams of the early 80's are in store for future volumes. The rest of the cd was great overall although I felt the song I'll house you did not belong on this mix and should have rather been held for a future classic ultimate house mix. Still I must say this is some of the best freestyle mixing I have ever heard aside from Albert Cabrera (Ex-Latin Rascal) and one which I'll keep following as long as the music selection remais off the hook as it has until now in all 6 volumes and as long as Bad Boy Joe Masters the mix like only he can. Keep it up Joe!!!

this cd is very good. mixed so well.when i listen to this music it just takes me back to those days. this is the best music ever. bad boy joe rocks. keep making you'r cd's keep freestyle alive.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! Take me back...way back!
Incredible!...That's all I can say. When Bad Boy Joe said "Back To The Old-School"...he wasn't kidding. Man...songs like "Set It Off", "Jam On It", "White Lines" really take me back to those great club days of the early 80's. And I absolutely love that track "Din Daa Daa" by George Kranz. I've been searching for a c.d. with that song for just about forever.

Joe has done it again with some of the greatest songs that show where Freestyle music really evolved from...and mixed them the way only he knows how to do.

My hats off to you again Joe...You are the MAN! And I'd give this star 10 stars if I could. I can't wait 'til Volume 5. ... Read more

This cd contains all the best Johnny O hits any freestyle
fan would ever want to hear. The only exception was that the
producers forgot other of Johnny O's greatest songs such as "Runaway love "among others. Overall I think that this cd
    was made very well.

3-0 out of 5 stars Brian, freestyle fan for over 10 years
This Album has most of his hits, but they left out a few really good tracks. Thump Records must have not done their homework! Why didn't they put the songs; "Runaway Love", "I Know That You Love Me", "I Wanna Make Love To You", and maybe "Don't Go Away" on the album? They even messed up tracks 11 & 12, by printing track 11 as a "Highways of Love" remix when it's actually a remix of "I Gave My Heart to You" and also printing track 12 as The Music's Got me when its a remix of "Memories". Sloppy work Guys!! Johnny O deserves better! I wish I could of compiled this album and then maybe fans could experience all of his Hits with higher quality!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Same great songs
This CD is bascially the same as the "Like a Stranger" album, with a few songs from his first album thrown in. So if you missed it the first time around then definetly pick this up. The two best songs are "I gave my heart to you" and "Don't give up on love" which both feature the beautiful of voice of Jimi Tunnell.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dance until you can't dance no more
Sweet Sensations' "Take It while It's Hot" Is a very good dance album. It's a little hard not to move to the beats of "Never Let You Go", or getting up and jamming with the title track. Vocally, these three girls are not something to write home about and it's not the most compelling of all music that you'll ever hear. But it is a light hearted, feel good album that you can sit at home and move to (or clean to). I saw them in concert, and I will say , they do produce alot of energy on stage, as does thier music. You will find yourself singing," I'm hooked on you." You'll get hooked on this Cd.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
Sweet sensation is the type of Cd for all you latin-soul sisters such as myself. It is rhythm and upbeat-good music to sing, dance and work up a real sweat to-also good to use while cleaning house! I was hooked the first time i saw the video to 'Hooked on you' and then i got this cd and it just takes me back when good dance music ruled!! I miss good fun dance music like this, Sweet Sansation had good voices and they were given good dance material.

3-0 out of 5 stars Expose wannabes from the late 80's
Sweet Sensation was clearly an attempt to make a teen, second-rate Expose down to the keyboard synthesizers, backbeat, and even the lead vocals in "Never Let You Go" mimic those heard in "Point Of No Return" or "Come Go With Me." Oh yes, and there is even a song here called "Let Me Be The One," which was a song on Expose's debut album. Then there's the cover, which clearly shows two whites and a Latina, close to the ethnic lineup of Expose.

"Never Let You Go", clocking in at a little over six minutes, is two minutes overlong, using that excess time for filler noises.

In contrast, "Sincerely Yours" which was the single from the album to make the Billboard charts and it isn't that bad, as it starts with a Spanish guitar before yielding to the Expose-type keyboards. Upon hearing the melody of the opening line, "Dear I write you this letter. to show you how our love means to me," I instantly thought, "AHA! The Supreme's 'You Keep Me Hangin' On." They crib that melody all right. Still, there's a slight Latin flavour in the song that pardons its obvious derivative roots.

"Love Games" incorporates a few video game sounds, a few old school rap scratches, and is about a louse who plays around. The snide spoken line "If you wanna go play games. Why don't you go and ask your daddy for a quarter" seems well deserved. Game over, bucko!

"Let Me Be The One" is a filler ballad that mimics the Expose song plus tries to mirror another one--"Seasons Change". "Heartbreak" contains the usual flurry of synth effects, like glass smashing and staccato vocal dubbing.

The title track begins with "It's time to jam." followed by shrill tinny horns. This is kind of an upbeat mimic of Expose's mid-paced "Let Me Be The One" and has echoes of Miami Sound Machine's early material. This song actually isn't that bad. However, I also detect them cribbing some of the Jets' sound as well.

"Victim Of Love" boasts a squishy rhythm synthesizer that sounds like a rubber ball bouncing, and does have some catchy hooks.

"Hooked On Love" is the third single-worthy song here. Another song that could've been done by either the Jets or Expose, this features gaggle of random noise. I see here the kind of new breed R&B-pop that would explode in 1990 and 1991. The girls' singing in unison isn't bad here.

This was a Platinum Vibe Production, and I don't know about yielding platinum. Copper maybe, and my rating is generous a a result. Well, the hot-looking cover also swayed me, I'll be honest. Although derivative, somewhat of a guilty pleasure, considering that the girls here were in their mid-teens. Sure, they did better in covering "Love Child" in their subsequent album, but that was a lineup change. But after that...

5-0 out of 5 stars Cream of the Freestyle Crop!
Growing up in a NJ suburb about 30 miles from NYC, I actually thought that Freestyle music was a lot more popular than it really was. It was only until I started talking to people from other areas of the country that I realized artists like Sweet Sensation, Coro, TKA, CoverGirls and Company B did not receive the type of airplay that they did in NYC. Well, this makes me very glad that I grew up where I did - because I got exposed to some great jams such as the ones on this little freestyle masterpiece! Five of the eight tracks were released as singles and were filling the airwaves of NYC (and Miami) and dancefloors across the nation with slamming energy.

"Victim Of Love" was the first single released, but included here is a re-recorded version which is superior to the original (which can be found on one of the "Freestyle's Greatest Beats" compilations). The second single, "Hooked On You" was actually released twice, this version is the one that was released the second time around. "Take It While It's Hot" is my favorite track on the album and is jam-packed with latin freestyle energy - try not to dance and sing along! The fourth single "Never Let You Go" is fiercly remixed with cool beats and vocal treats. "Sincerely Yours" is more radio-friendly and received the most airplay out of all the singles.

The great thing about this album is that the songs are longer than 3-minute radio versions but shorter than 8-minute remixes. Most fall between 5-6 minutes, so they include all those juicy beats in the middle of the song that really get you groovin' but don't go on forever. Definately a must-have for any freestyle music collection! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The King of Freestyle Returns...
This CD is my most favorite CD of all time. Why? Easy. It combines all of George Lamond's classic Freestyle jams from his previous two albums and adds four new Freestyle tracks that are sure to satisfy any Freestyle fan's insatiable desire. It's so hard to find quality Freestyle these days, but this album raises the bar. George Lamond gives these new songs his energetic and passionate love which has become his trademark style. I hope that these songs are released because they definitely have chart topping appeal. His unique and awesome vocals leave me speechless. There is absolutely no one else that can match George Lamond's talents. Buy this album!

5-0 out of 5 stars George LaMond's New Songs Are Fantastic!
The long awaited freestyle Cd by George LaMond is finally here and it is awesome! His major freestyle hits are all here and this Cd includes four new freetyle tracks, all of which are terrific. I especailly liked Some One Like You and Just in Time. Also very impressive is the song Lately. Incredible vocals! All of these feature those classic signature freestyle elements that make this music so unique and wonderful to listen to. Just in Time features guitar mixed with George LaMond's "classic" freestyle sound and catches. That one seems to have a very oriental sound to it and I love it.George LaMond's voice is even more stunning and emotion packed that ever before. He has so much power and emotion in his voice, you know he is singing from the deepest part of his soul. Wow! Amazing lyrics on the new songs too. The first track, Earn My Love, is very beautiful, blending in elements from Barry White's Love's Theme. There is a wonderful ballard at the end as well called Goodbye. The version of Without you is the Without You 98 remake of that song and sounds fantastic. Wonderful production on the whole CD. Fans will adhore the cover for sure! I've always loved George LaMond's music more than I can ever say and I know fans will love this CD forever. George, I hope to meet you soon one day and tell you personnaly how much your music has ment to me over the years. Hope you still come to Chicago sometimes!!! Your music will live inside of me always. You are the greatest. -Aaron-

4-0 out of 5 stars Songs from a Member of Freestyle's Royal Court
Definitely a must have for any serious freestyle fan. Not every song on here is great, but they definitely aren't terrible either. You will listen to "Where Does That Leave Love", "Look Into My Eyes", "Without You", and "Bad of the Heart" the most on hereIf you can find these songs on freestyle compilations, then no need for this cd, but if you can't, then here is a chance to have 4 really good songs by a man who always gets his full emotions into his music.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Have, For A True Freestyle Fan!!!!
I just bought this cd and the only regret I have is not purchasing this sooner!!! George Lamond is truely the KING OF FREESTYLE. He sings with so much emotion, it's incredible. 1-0 out of 5 stars It's alright
You will find this cd good only if your into freestyle music, he is very talented but by no means is he the king of freestyle sorry but george lamond does not even come close to matching The real king of freestyle Stevie B's skills their popularity in the music business speaks for it's self. George never realy blew up, like i said the album is good but not high quality so don't be suprised if you don't like it. ... Read more

Stepping out from the freestyle trio TKA, the newly dubbed K7 (formerly Kayel) expanded on his group's signature sound and won a larger audience than ever. As freestyle began its long, painful death, dance-pop overtook the genre's audience and popularity. Swing Batta Swing cannily updates the artist for the new era without abandoning his roots or his core audience. The uproarious "Come Baby Come" is a straightforward dance-pop single sung in a bizarre drill sergeant voice, and along with "Zunga Zeng," it fit right in with the radio and club tracks of its era. But K7 has been in the business long enough to know to hedge his bets, and "I'll Make You Feel Good" and "Body Rock" are engineered to please even the most exacting freestyle fan. --John Sanchez ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Well done Kayel!
I must admit the first few times I heard this song: MOVE IT LIKE THIS Beleive it or not, I actually made fun of it (something I'm very embarrased about now). I thaught It was a very silly dumb stupid song, but when I payed attention to the lyrics it blew me away! It has now become one of my favorite songs of all time. If someone was to ask me name your 5 favorite songs of all time MOVE IT LIKE THIS would definetely be one of them. COME BABY COME is also a great song and I love it as well. My hats of to this group for very well crafted songs and I wish them the best.
