3-0 out of 5 stars Why 2 discs?
I agree with the above review for the most part. He's right on with the songs that are really bad. Had those been left out and this cd condensed down to just one disc, we'd be looking at a pretty good release. Unfortunately a few tracks are just painful to listen to.

The ratings above on Disc 1 are a little high, most notably the title track, which is pretty awful (hip hop & electronica often don't mix). And he didn't even mention the 2 best tracks of the album, Christiane & Existe -- chillout tracks with a "secret agent" edge to them.

All in all, not as good as Electro Glide in Blue (then again it doesn't get much better than that), but close to Getting High on Your Own Supply.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
I loved Gettin High On Your Own Supply and Electro Glide In Blue, but this doesn't compare to them in the least. It has it's moments but overall I'm disappointed.

Disc 1 is okay, and some of the songs are enjoable

Dude Descending A Staircase (3/5) - The opener is Okay, featuring rap from the Beatnutz but it gets boring quickly

Hustler Groove (3/5) - It's far too long, and it doesn't change much throughout. Listening to the first minute is the same as listening to the full 6 minutes. The lyrics aren't spectacular, but they're OK.

Disco Sucks (4/5) - One of the album's high points. A catchy little song, but not Apollo 440 at they're best. This is really different from the music from their other albums.

N'Existe Pas (2/5) - I usually skip this one.

Electronic Civil Disturbance (2/5) - I liked this one at first, but repeat listens reveal it to be unimaginative and repetative. The lyrics are afwul (People, people, people stand up: let's get down). Very inspiring guys.

1,2,3,4 (4/5) - I like this one, even though the lyrics aren't much better than ECD, the music is catchy and I like the guitar work. This sounds more like the music from Gettin High.

Escape To Beyond The Planet Of The Super Ape (5/5) - This is a totally different direction, and it's a nice change. Sounds very space-like, and the drum work is good. Not too keen on some of the samples though, but still probably the third best song.

Time's Running Out (6/5) - This is more like it. Without a doubt the best song on the album. I listen to this song loads. Also featured on the SWAT soundtrack.

Childen Of The Future/Suitase 88 (3/5) - Why they put this song on twice under different names I don't know. The only difference is that Suitcase 88 has no lyrics, and sounds a little better for it. This song is a chillout one and it sounds quite good.

The second CD is the let down. It's just a bad chill out CD. The only good songs here are Suitcase 88 and Bulletproof Blues (5/5) the last good song on here. Some songs (In particular Diamonds In The Sidewalk and Bad Chemistry are so miserable and monotonous that I'm not going to waste my time writing them a proper review.

All in all, you'd be better off buying Gettin High On Your Own Supply, their best album and leaving this one alone. If you really want the good songs, try tracking them down on the internet. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nicely mixed trance!
This is one of those trance compilations I enjoy because the songs are almost entirely full length mixes (unlike the Ministry of Sound Series) that are above average trance songs. I don't have any particular favorite because they touch all bases from vocal trance to more hardhouse style trance. The cd is nicely mixed and is definately a must have for trance lovers!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good "older" hard trance tunes !!
With the industry moving more towards the softer lackluster "progressive" sounds its nice to find a disk that can still pop your head like a can of pringles !!! This one is pure "no brakes" hard style trance that you've all danced to at 4am when the DJ really gets warmed up!! A good one to keep in the car cd player to get you through rush hour or that long ride home from the club !! Especially nice if you can snag it used like I did !! This disk is older but includes some classic pumping tunes that didn't get overplayed, making this one that is still worth having.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first, but definitely worth a listen.
"My Name is Trance" has to be without a doubt among my top five favorite albums of all time. So, I bought the second installment in anticipation that it would be as good as the first, if not better. The album is very good, Dr Psychosis does a nice job of mixing. The reason I didn't give it five stars was because of a few tracks that had vocals in them, which I'm not too crazy about. But besides that the album is great.

So, if you're a Trance fan and you're looking for a good album, pick this one up. And, if you haven't heard the first one, I'd highly recommend you give that one a listen too. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars OK so it's off the wall, but it's good!
The compilation "Rarewerks", as I understand it, gives the artists therein recorded the opportunity to let out their particular madness/genius and raise it to something like the tenth power. Its exponential Indie/Groove weirdness brings out a fresh and forward-thinking quality that redeems the disc, though it sometimes leaves the listener feeling thoroughly violated by its iconoclasm (e.g., a "My Sharona" update)...somthing like a 50's evangelist experiencing the titilation of Rock & Roll's girating pelvis for the first time, feeling that inexplicable surge of excitement/guilt that seems to originate at the base of the spine. This is especially true if, as in the case of the prior critic, a listener has become comfortable with the dominant paradigm. Think of "Rarewerks" as the enima for which every critic and evangelist during the last half-century has been secretly pining, and let it round out your collection of what the SPD has so aptly dubbed "that electronic, repetetive-beat, after-hours, warehouse, [...]".
I could rephrase everything Matt from New Jersey says about the actual songs, but since I basically agree with him, I'll just let you scroll down and check it out.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a Painful Journey
Ouch...did I just spend money on this? What a sad state of affairs...this album is what happens when record labels try just a little too hard to milk their star artists for one more quick buck. I personally own albums from about half of the artists on this CD (Fatboy, Air, Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Sasha) and really like all of them but this compilation is just awful because the songs are just 1)amazingly mediocre 2)boring and 3)too long (reference the 13 minute track from Sasha).

There is a reason why the "rare works" in this Rareworks CD are so "rare"...it is because they are so Bad ...if the tracks in this CD were any good they wouldn't be rare because fans and the public would have passed them along and spread the word. Think about it...

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of The Greatest Techno Compilations Ever!
Let me just start off by saying that Astralwerks is my favorite record label for electronic music, so naturally, I love all the artists on this CD. And I also think it was a great idea to put out a compilation with rare material from the label's best musicians. Among the likes of my favorite DJ, Norman Cook (AKA Fatboy Slim), There are awesome tracks here from Photek (Rupert Parks), Basement Jaxx, Cassius, The Chemical Brothers (Tom & Ed), and a amazing live track to finish off the CD, which come from Future Sound Of London. If you enjoy techno music, and/or are a fan of Astralwerks records such as myself, this is definitely going to hold out as one of the strongest releases of the year.

4-0 out of 5 stars werks for me (mostly)
I got this disc as I like most of the records released on the Astralwerks label and wanted to check out the rare stuff from my favorite artists: Air, Cassius, Chemical Brothers. The opening track from Fatboy Slim is typically goofy but fun nonetheless. Massive Attack's remix of Primal Scream is pretty fierce, much darker than the original and the Groove Armada mix of Q-Burns is really sublime. Then the Air track, a trip-hop reworking of "Casanova 70" one of my faves from their early works. It's harder and more abrasive than the original, but I think it adds some punch and groove that doesn't mess too much with the integrity of the original. The Cassius remix of their own track "Foxxy" is a dramatic update of an already great tune, superior programming and great vocal sample that really carries the track. Scanty Sandwich sounds like Fatboy Slim, goofy and frenetic big beats, sampling the Knack's "My Sharona" and adding layer upon layer of fat drum loops. The remaining tracks from Photek and Beta Band are pretty good, but the Future Sound Of London track is a let-down, purely indulgent and sounds as though it's been thrown in for name recognition value only, rather than because it's worthwhile. The Morales Latin mix of Basement Jaxx's "Bingo Bango" is a great song in the original form and nicely remixed here, even if the spanish guitar gets a little too noodly. The Sasha remix of the Chemical Bros "Out Of Control" is immense and very long (13 minutes) and will please Chems completists no end. I'd like to have given this comp 5 stars but there's a few moments where the selections falter in favor of big names rather than great tracks, but still mostly a great record from a great label. I guess there'll be a Volume 2 in which case I'd ask the label to go deeper into their catalog and find some Spacetime Continuum, u-ziq, Wagon Christ, Craig Armstrong and others who are not necessarily big sellers, but part of the label's history just the same. I hope you're werkin' on it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A whole new landscape
Watch the 3D version of "That Track" (on the DVD) and you will be seeing the most advanced manifestation of music and visual conceptual animation yet developed. I seriously don't know how these people think this stuff up and then actually create it for us to see. I envy and admire their accomplishment. It's like being a kid and seeing TRON for the first time back in the day. This is a whole new landscape. And the tunes ain't bad either.

4-0 out of 5 stars really really good, but not perfect.
in my mind Hexstatic are geniuses, pretty much everything they put out is awesome. This certainly doesn't fall short. Track one "extra life" is a standout track. it's a great opener, with a simple, yet captivating beat. It's a got this flowing synth that gives it a sortof spacey feelign that i really like. The song does make me think of video games for some reason (maybe because of the dialogue at the beginning) but if you watch the video it's a game of pong. The next track "chase me" has to be my favorite track on here. It really sounds like david holmes type work actually and i like him alot, but it still sounds original. It has probably the best breaks that i've heard in a while, and the bassline is so good. I'm sure it's synth'ed but the wah-wah-ish guitar effect sounds really cool. It sounds like something that would be out of ocean's eleven, but then again david holmes did do that soundtrack. Telemetron is also really cool. It's also got a pretty simple beat, and that one synth that fades in and back out each measure gives it a sortof amon-tobin quality to it, and he is ridiculously amazing. This song reminds of alot of japanese electro also, kind of like midnight bowlers. I'll skip track 4, not one my favorites but still realy good. Perfect Bird is really good. The original is by guitar vader, who if you don't know you should check out. You might find the voice irritating but the beat is really good and the guitar riff in there goes really well with it. That riff sounds a bit like tortoise actually. Salvador, is definitely one of my favorites. I listen to tons of brazillian music so i knew i'd like this as soon as i heard it. It starts off sounding pretty traditional and then adds in bits of synth and then brings in a prett ycool dance beat. The brazillian music keeps playing behind which really makes the track. Track seven "Living" is also really good. It's got a pretty fast, distorted drum-n-bass-ish beat with a guitar loop, and then the flute. and this song is kindof like a cross between chemical brothers and amon tobin. "distorted minds" is the one hip hop tack on here with juice aleem. It's a pretty good track. track 9 i won't go into, but also very good. Toys are us is probably my least favorite track on here. It just doesn't really seem to develope alot and it's got just too much noise and not enough substance. It's kindof loud and a bit dull. Pulse actually also isn't one of my favorites, it just seems a bit dull, it's somewhat unfortunate to end the cd on not such a good note, but it's still decent. So really, it's just two tracks on here that aren't noteworthy, thes rest though are great, so if you're into REALLY electronic stuff then this is for you. This is really the only cd i have which you could truly put in the B.S. category of electronica. This is electronica, and it uses electronics very very well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Masters of Multimedia!
Hexstatic do a great job on this one. The album starts out pretty good, but once it hits track five it gets real good. Great variety and great production.

the DVD is friggin' awesome. It comes with a pair of 3d glasses because a lot of the videos are in 3D. They really do it up right on this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars More Dead Cities
Very Hard and Very Deep. Relentless and Uncomprimising. From the very genius masterpiece Dead Cities. If you have Dead Cities, you need this one along with My Kingdom...Along the same lines as Far Out Son of Lung but harder and more abrasive.

5-0 out of 5 stars SOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!
I'm going to say less and let this sentence speak for itself: this is probably my favorite single ever, by anybody.

It's not like We Have Explosive is necessarily one of their best songs. It's an industrial dance track that's particularly raw and abrasive (in a good way) with a lot of the usually weird background effects supplied by FSOL. However, it's what they DO with the song that makes it special. Only the first and last songs sound anything alike. Each of the others is a fresh and invigorating take on the original song, with only the slightest snippets of the original thrown in to lend an appropriate quantity of continuity to the whole operation. The Manstronik one is particularly well done, but there are no weak points. This CD is amazing. I got it for $4 on a whim at a used music shop two years ago and I'm still laughing about my good fortune.

4-0 out of 5 stars For Your Noisy Neighbors
This is a great, crashing, banging CD. It's not all noise however, there are some real toe tappers on this album. The Mantronic mix is the best.

4-0 out of 5 stars excellent!
this cd has enough power to scare the hell out of your grandmother. I really like this cd for it's funk driven, electricly impulsive, powerful, psychedelic and eerie feel. If any of you guys are familiar with the movie Hero starring Robert Deniro, you can hear a couple samples in this cd!I'm warning you, if you like the smell of fresh battery acid in the morning, the look of twisted metal, the sound of distressed head-banging robots, then this albums yours!

This compilation showcases breakbeat house, a dance music subgenre that features syncopated hip-hop grooves rather than the four-to-the-floor pulse that house inherited from disco. In presenting this infectious style, Funky Breaks displays a wide range of material on its 12 tracks. Sugar's "The Feeling" is little more than a squelching, ever-mutating acid riff, some vocal snippets, and a steady beat. By contrast, "Loose Caboose" by Electroliners is a highly active playground of sound; squeaks, hyperspeed snare rolls, and synth swoops are just some of the elements that make up the track's wild mix. The CD's opener, Violet's "Burn the Elastic," is a tightly wound rhythm machine. This perfect encapsulation of breakbeat house layers a house rhythm on top of a hip-hop foundation, sending the tune into rhythmic overdrive. --Fred Cisterna ... Read more

DJ, Mo' Wax label linchpin, and U.N.K.L.E. architect James Lavelle is an icon for good reason. His ease in dovetailing hip-hop, progressive house, and trip-hop is legendary, and it's part of what makes the two-disc Global Underground: Barcelona compilation such a corker. Thanks to clever mixing, cuts from Mo' Wax protégé DJ Shadow seem right at home next to those by former Stone Roses howler Ian Brown, dub-dancehall king Roots Manuva, brilliant Brit DJs Layo & Bushwacka, and agit-prop rappers Dead Prez. Brown's trippy, staccato "F.E.A.R." is almost a full-blown suite, and fans of U.N.K.L.E.'s Psyence Fiction platter will hear familiar snippets (ditto fans of Shadow's Private Press). The flow never stops as Lavelle scorches through these 30-odd tracks without pausing for breath, showing he is to the Barcelona rave scene what Jose Padilla's Cafe del Mar series was to Ibiza: mind-numbingly cool and absolutely essential. --Kim Hughes ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Seamless...is the word.
I've always been a long standing fan of the Global Underground compilations, and there is good reason. Names like Dave Seaman, John Digweed, and Danny Tenaglia have all been headliners for these studio mixes. I remember a few months ago that I heard that the newest Global mix was going to be done by James Lavelle. I am embarassed to admit, but I actually asked who this guy is. Well I can't really say I've learned much about him since I first heard his name, but the GU 23 discs speak for him. This guy is phenomenal. His chance to do this set is well deserved. From the moment the first track hits you'll be drowned in the sound of delicately woven beats, blended seamlessly across 2 discs. Starting off softly, this compilation transforms itself across a landscape of trance, moving through house music and back again. While I am not an expert at defining categorically this style of music, I am aware of what great music is. These discs are and always have been great music and are clearly superior to any other mix compilations available. Beware...once you go Global, you never turn back. I've always said that electronic music, is modern day classical, and this along with the other GU compilations will convince you of that fact.

5-0 out of 5 stars best alternative gu mix so far..............
Lavelle really shines on this mix in doing exactly what he does best, making the hairs stand up on yer neck. The first disc is a special moment in DJ mixes recorded period because it actually takes chances instead of simply trancing you into a coma, not to be disrespectful of the classic trance mixes that have been represented on global underground. Lavelle seems to actually shift todays version of a DJ mix back towards a musical journey ala brothers gonna work it out by the Chemical Brothers or Liam Howlett's Dirtchamber mix from 99.
75% of this mix is absolutely flawless, even the breaks/prog disc 2. You can really tell maybe Lavelle has put more effort into his mix than previous gu djs because he actually uses some of his own production in the mix to astounding effect. If you've maybe grown a little weary of the usual trendy swooshing mix than this mix will restore your faith. Gracias, Mr. Lavelle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD just don't buy a promo copy
Great CD. Make sure not to get sold a promo copy. Promo copies have an announcer speaking over the music around 6 times per cd stating "Global Underground Promo...James Lavelle Barcelona"

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Brilliant
I gotta say this is currently the finest cd in my fairly extensive collection of dance music. Even thought I have had it for 5-6 months it still gets high rotation all the time. I would have to rate it up there with my Sasha, my K&D, Freeland and Seaman. Its great for its wide variety of genres that just slide together into a seamless journey. The best bit is that both CD's are equally as outstanding. I don't care about being able to quote track names, artists or who remixed what. I work on the principle of spending valuable listening time at the store before I buy. I know the problems of wanting new music but not knowing what to get, well take my word for it this is a truly outstanding CD that you deserve. If Lavelles Fabric set left you feeling a little concerned and disapointed well I can't say I blame you. This however is a different ballpark it is simply brilliant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Setting the record straight
I'm sick of reading Global Underground reviews exclaiming how "flawless" the mixes are. Of course they are. I hate to burst your bubble, but all of the global underground CD's are mixed by the same guy, in a studio, on a computer. The artist picks the tracklisting, and is the face on the cover of the cd...Thats it. These albums are NOT mixed live, and G.U. has never claimed them to be. But, besides that fact, they are great albums. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars All-time Favorite "Must Have!"
You find yourself in the wilderness of desert. Around you, the lunar hills mount up into stony pillars that stretch like fingers to touch the full moon that drifts above you like a dreaming goddess. Around you, smiling faces and faces lost to the pacific trance of beauty, arms raised to the countless stars, fingers stirring up the milky way, arms outstretched as if to embrace the world. You walk toward the turntables as the music begins to swell, the beat calling your heart to greater and greater awareness, and the DJ smiles at you like the Buddha... And suddenly you are transported on a wave of pure energy, carried away to the heart of the galaxy where the glory of existence gives you your true name.

Sound Without Walls ~is~ Moontribe defined. It is a voyage that you will take again and again. DJs Daniel, John Kelley, Brian, Petey, Brad and Treavor - mainstays of Southern California's full moon desert parties - contribute their massive talents to bring us a mix of 65 moons' worth of "musical highs". The mixing is flawless, the mixes themselves are powerful, beautiful, driving, and mind-expanding. Thanks to this one recording, I sought out my first desert party and have never looked back. You don't need anything but willingness to find ecstasy in the beat laid down here.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff!!
This is a great cd. Not the overplayed trance music that people are so used to hearing in clubs and "massive" raves. The tracks are interesting and have a much more driving edge. This cd is nice b/c anyone who likes either trance or psytrance will like the music.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST ELECTRONICA CD EVER
We are extremely picky listeners, especially with electronica. So, when we say this is a good cd, we MEAN IT. Buy it and it will forever be in your music collection. The tracks are perfect and the mixing (of course) is impeccable. Put it on, close your eyes and you are in the desert with the full moon above you and your best friends dancing all around you.

4-0 out of 5 stars some phat goa and psy trax...
I picked this up on a whim a while ago. I'd heard of Moontribe and, of course, John Kelley and DJ Brian, so I figured it'd be worth it. Some of the trax are really phat, like Sonic Fusion's Tribal Warrior, Palefield Mountain's "Dream To Become" and Gypsy's "Funkdafino". Others are a bit tiresome or just a bit too goa-ish for me. On the plus side, most of the artists are underground and the tracks not featured anywhere else (except for Speedy J and Art of Trance). Worth adding to one's collection, especially if you are looking for something new or on the tribal side of trance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Attention.
His mixing style and song selection make him one of my favourite djs. This mix will be an excellent selection for those who like breaky acid trance. All track are well choosen except his silly production. And also blank and jones' cream is a wrong choice for this set. Cream is a great anthem but it's a completely different sound for the rest of the cd. He looses 1star for his set. But mixing is excellent. I think that people who want to meet micro should buy this. Because this mix clearly reflects his style. Better than his other cd's such as djmixed.com/micro

3-0 out of 5 stars Not his best, bye bye underground !
I'm listening to trance since 6 years. About three years ago I moved from Europe to Florida. The first trance CD's I discovered where DJ Hardware's and than Micros first Micro Tech mix. I did love the CD for it's variety. The 2nd micro tech mix I did love even more. Good hard Trance that makes you move. Now after trance is the big wave here right now and lot's of american trance cd's later - finally the new micro. I have to say I was quiet disapointed by this release after I have heard nick warren, christopher lawrence, oakenfold etc.. It starts of very hard with a not to good song by micro and actually never get's really great. It's not a bad CD and for those who like very commercial agressive techno trance it will be a great pick. It reminds me a lot of cheesy commercial trance raves in germany which where fun but still.....not the real thing. If you prefer real trance you are better off going with other DJ's. This mix can be fun at the right place at the right time but it's definetely not one of the years best. Maybe just a little bit too "moonshiny". At the end it's of course all a matter of taste and trance is not trance as we all know. Most people like George Acostas "South beach style trance" too but I can't relate to it either.

5-0 out of 5 stars GRRRRRRRRRREAT STUFF
Yes! now thats what im talkin about....this mix has got what today's Micro needs....that tech/trance/breaks style.Awesome cd from start to finish....Very highly recommended

5-0 out of 5 stars If there is one Trance cd to own; this is it.
This is in my opinion THE BEST Micro cd there is, quite possibly the best tech/trance/house album to own. Period. Absolutely no cheese is to be found anywhere, Crystal clear sound, a perfect track selection, and energy surging the entire time kepping your senses glued to the music . The entire album takes you for a ride with enlifting and tense build ups, immaculate mixing, and intense climaxes (and there are many throughout the cd).The one flaw stated and agreed by many is a weak ending with bizarre off key vocals, but the experience before makes up for it a hundred fold. A truly good cd that you can listen all the way through satisfied the etnire time.
I have just begun to write reviews on music but have been listening to techno and more definitively trance for more than half a decade, and have to say that finding good solid cd's is harder and harder to find. This is THE must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing, Trance's Favorite Dj!
Okay, come on now. Has "electronica" seen anything like this? Watch out Paul "Joke"enfold, here comes MICRO! Let me explain, in detail, the whole CD. Micro begins his Tech-Journey, with his own song, "Sound Barrier", a fast paced hard edged pounding track, with mezmorizing breaks that will leave you breathless for the first time during this jouney! Next Micro will smoothly fly through 3 or 4 songs that you won't notice because he has overwhelmed you with his superior mixing style and wonderful song selection. Micro then brings you into the wonderful world of "Matt Darey::Liberation"! This track contains many, many different elements of the Tech-Trance. . .vocals, edgy beats, trancy breaks are all things to listen to Micro mix into and out of!! The next mind blowing track, is "Deepsky::Stargazer"! If you've heard the original track from Deepsky, you will notice that this track is very "Oakenfold" (Slow, late build-up, quite boring), but listen to the way Micro makes it!! If you haven't been moving since "Sound Barrier", you've got a problem. From "Deepsky::Stargazer", Micro never lets go of the driving sound that he can now call his own! Buy this CD, it will always in your collection! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars life IS sweet
what better way to listen to the greatest song in history than play it over and over again in different formats........

5-0 out of 5 stars You need the Daft Punk remix.
Though the single available here doesn't have the Daft Punk remix of Life is Sweet, I would reccomend it to any techno/dance/big beat/house fan out there. I am a huge Chemical Brothers and Daft Punk fan and when I heard that Daft Punk had remixed this song I was in heaven. The actual mix doesn't sound anything like the album version, but I didn't care. The CD is only 8 bucks so go out, get it, and enjoy. ... Read more

Everyone and his cousin has done, or been the subject of, a remix record at this point, so it takes something special for one to stand out from the crowd. Old School Vs. New School qualifies--emphatically. A celebration of some of the Jive and Silvertone labels' best singles, it pits killer tracks from A Tribe Called Quest, Kool Moe Dee, Boogie Down Productions, Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, Whodini, and the Stone Roses against the talents of Norman Cook (a.k.a. Fatboy Slim), Doc Martin, Rabbit in the Moon, Aphrodite, and other well-known--and talented--remixers. With the exception of Hollis Monroe's take on R. Kelly's "Sex Me"--easily the weakest track on the album, both in its original and remixed form--all of the songs are somehow treated with respect and given a fresh life. Cook's take on A Tribe Called Quest's "I Left My Wallet in El Segundo" gives the track a tropical feel, the Bassbin Twins give their take on BDP's catalog in a tribute medley, and the two takes of the Stone Roses' classic "Fools Gold"--from Grooverider and Rabbit in the Moon--bring out two different sides of a deserving song. You'll want to dig out the originals again and listen to them side by side with the remixes. --Randy Silver ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Dearly dissappointed...
After hearing a few tracks from the second volume I thought the first one would be even better... Yet I was extremely dissappointed when I heard the album... If you like old 80's hip-hop with boring, weak techno beats then this is the album you have been waiting for...

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Remix Compilation
I was looking for a breakbeat compilation and found this. A few tracks have some sweet breakbeats, but there's so much more funk that can't be contained by just one musical subgenre. These new school remixes have taken these already great tracks and transformed them. There are a couple tracks on the CD that don't quite slide with me, but the majority are awesome. Whodini vs The Freestylers, A Tribe Called Quest vs Aphrodite, and A Tribe Called Quest vs Norman Cook especially are otherwordly and deserve to be cranked up on everyone's stereo system.

5-0 out of 5 stars Studder scratch, studder scratch filling up the beats
Yummy scratch tracks laying down fat fast pistol oomph. If you funk the vibe, ya know that the skunk is tribe. A burning blend of aboriginal harmonies in accordance with section 12 of the Funk Nation Treaty. Fat Boy Slim brings pounds of carpet to the already cantonese tribe tune.

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive mixes
Even though I'm getting sick of techno compilations, this one didn't disapoint. The remixes are fresh and original. All the Tribe remixes are incredible, especially the Aphrodite and Fat Boy Slim mixes. A great mix of house, break beat and trance versions of some classic music. But R Kelly? Why?

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS CD IS DOPE!!!! BUY IT!!!!
This is on of the best CD compilations to come out in a while. This brings back to the limelight two of my all time favorite groups, ATCQ and the Stone Roses. The first time I heard the mix of "Can I Kick It" it got me so movin I brought the house down, serious. BUY THIS CD!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great ol skool single
This was the breakthrough single for The Prodigy and this single is great... Joey Beltram throws in a great mix of Charly and Your Love was one of the rave tunes back in the day as well as G-Force...

5-0 out of 5 stars The kick-off...
Well... there isn't much to say... This was the single that lifted the Prodigy up from the underground... It's still kind of a 'theme song' for ravers... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent music to listen while you work
I am always looking for musinc that I can have with me when I am tarvelling for work. Usually by about 4 in the afternoon I am stressed to the poin that I just nedd to put on my headphones and get some work done while listening to music. I keep going back to this CD all the time. Definetly part of my "Zen at Work Music Collection".

5-0 out of 5 stars Chill Out goes to India!
I'm not sure who thought of this concept but it is genious. Why not take the top names in far eastern world music like Nusrat, Talvin Singh, Nitin Sawhney and Joi and mix them together with the chill out flavor of electronica which I love anyway. It works for me and I just finished listening for my 5th time. It is truly a great blend of hip artists and also I discovered 1 new artist that I did not know before: MEGA OM. This track "Bombay" with the Indian girl chanting is really heavenly and on fire, it should be in a car commercial or something. ... Read more
