This reissue, originally appearing as a Folkways recording in 1970, features noted children's folk singer and educator Ella Jenkins facilitating a 1969 sing and play workshop with children ages 7 to 14. While one might expect Seasons for Singing to be dated, the reverse is true: a timelessness is achieved by virtue of simple melody, lively young voices, and enthusiastic reverie. As the liner notes state, Seasons is a "listen-and-take-part-immediately" record. From an alternate version of "This Train," to the traditional spiritual "All Night, All Day" and Kathy Mullen's "Go, Aquanetta, Go" are sure to rouse spontaneous participation from young listeners. Equally versatile for at home or group play, Seasons practically begs for small instruments such as kazoos, triangles, wood blocks, and bells.--Paige La Grone ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Engaging for young children--and their parents!
Although not a crisp studio recording, the spontaneity and exuberance of Ella Jenkins and the children bring an energy to this collection of lesser-known, lively sing alongs--mostly with a spiritual, blues or rock 'n roll origin. Ms. Jenkins is the premiere music performer and educator for young children--she knows just how to bring the excitement and joy of musical expression to children. You and your child will be singing along quite easily to all of these numbers--this collection is especially suited to ages 3 to 9 according to the cover, however, even babies seem to enjoy it! ... A winner in every way: with a few exceptions (Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, and Snuffleupagus--maybe they were afraid), all of the favorites are here. The Count takes stock of the "Bones (Inside of You)" and teams up with Elmo on "Transylvania 1-2-3-4-5," Grover confronts the "Monster in the Mirror" and implores that you "Be Kind to Your Neighborhood Monsters." 5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves it and I do too!
Do you dread listening to kids songs? I have hated most of them for years...until this C.D. which has restored my sanity. Well done Becky Degan for putting together a most interesting and inspiring collection of songs for young children!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hooray! It's a GREAT day!
A wonderfully cheerful CD!!! I play it for our granddaughters, aged 3 and aged 18 months...they LOVE it! The 3 year old was singing along the second time I played it, and the 18 month old loves to dance to the catchy tunes! I find myself singing the tunes....even when the granddaughters aren't here! I would highly recommend this CD for anyone with young children!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hip, hip hooray for this CD!
This is a refreshing CD for children, packed full with songs that aren't the same old kids' songs you hear. They are fun sing-a-long songs that you'll find yourself singing at work all day. Hip Hip Hooray for Becky Degan!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
Becky Degan is a masterfull writer of children's songs and I expect we'll be seeing (or hearing!) a lot more of her work in the future. The songs are not only pedigogical but cheery and stick-in-your-mindy, perfect entertainment for children. I hope her next collection will include "Happy President's Day" and "Emma likes meatloaf".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Learning and Lots of Fun CD
As a former preschool and Early Intervention teacher, I highly recommend this CD for children. The songs are not only fun, but encourage movement and language development. Children and parents join in because the words are easy to learn. I also liked that the website included the words of the songs as well as ideas for parents and teachers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It is wonderful to dance with your kids
It is a great CD I recommend to any parent who would like to see their kids jumping, dancing and singing along with her. We love it, and play the CD almost every night to let our kids jump up and down with a lot of laugh and smile in their faces. It is a lot more fun and involving than putting them infront of the tube.

5-0 out of 5 stars Preschool teacher loves this cd!
Marcy Marxer's songs and voice are lovely, easy to listen to over and over. I love her rendition of If You're Happy, it is so melodic. Beautiful Day often brings tears to my eyes it is so pretty and sweet. I bought the cd on a whim at a trade conference because she was there signing them - boy am I glad I did! It's one of my favorites now and I have a *bunch* of children's music. As a teacher I think I've heard it all! I highly recommend it for teachers of infants, toddlers and preschoolers as well as parents. Check it out! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT!
My children loved this! My husband and I also enjoyed the play on the Beatles, etc. My personal favorite is "Rebel L" while my son adores "Grouch Girls". Definitely a good investment.

3-0 out of 5 stars novelty factor-10 song quality-3
As a Beatles fan I love the concept and the clever play on words. The only tracks that are actually musically any good are 'Duckie' and 'Letter B' oh o.k and 'Hey Food'. As for the others, the titles outdo the songs. Great for the kiddies with a few in jokes for parents. I bring this one out for novelty value. Very cute... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Sing-Along Is A Genuine Treasure From Bobby Susser
The songs on this sing along have qualities that invite my first grade class to immediately sing along with every one. From "I'm Happy" and "Together, Together!", to "It's Raining, It's Pouring, and I'm Wet" and "I Feel So Good When I'm Singing", the melodies, choruses, and lyrics are unforgettable and very easy to learn. The rhythms, beats, and orchestrations are all very tasteful and enhance the beautiful, and positive messages that these songs possess. Not a single song on this whole collection of sing alongs disappoints the children. From observing how enthusiastic my first grade class responds to these songs, I would have to say there is no doubt that this sing along for young children is a genuine treasure from Bobby Susser.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Early Childhood Sing-Along Is Pure Perfection
Bobby Susser has neatly gathered all the elements for a perfect early childhood sing-along, and created it for children, while we adults join in too. All the songs have easy to learn choruses that are very catchy, uplifting messages, outstanding singing, terrific beats, easy to sing melodies for all children, and exciting sounds from the instruments that arouse the children's interests and keep them mentally stimulated. All these elements make this young children's sing-along the best you can find. From the first song "I'm Happy" that pulls the children right in with its rhythm, to the last song "Your Best Friends" that eases them into a chorus with its gentle orchestration, the children in my first grade class sing along to every word and note. It's a pleasure to hear and see.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing Measures Up To This EARLY LEARNING SING-ALONG
With upbeat songs, easy to learn catchy choruses, very enthusiastic vocal performances, and the most appealing orchestrations, this sing-along with a collection of thirteen Bobby Susser songs should be at the top of the list of sing-alongs for young children. Songs like "I'm Happy" and "It's Raining, It's Pouring, And I'm Wet" grab the attention of my entire first grade class. All these songs are fun, and simple so the children can jump right in and enjoy themselves, and learn at the same time. There is such cleverness exhibited here because positive adult values, as well as good habits, and social ways are taught, but the music, melodies, and lyrics are so terrific for kids that a sing-along is literally created every time you play each song. The result is that my kids learn so much and love to sing these songs. I predict this sing-along will be a classic, and sung over and over by future generations of young children.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Young Children's Runaway Hit Sing-Along
I have had many children in my preschool throughout the past ten years who enjoy sing alongs. But, this sing along from Bobby Susser is the first that I've seen that got the children involved from the very split second they heard the beginning of each song. The choruses are fantastic in every possible way. The music and lyrics to all the songs are so great that the children ask me to repeat playing each one. The beautiful thing here is that while the songs are great, they are also informative so the children learn while singing and singing. This is the most exciting, entertaining, interesting, and educational sing along I ever had for my preschool classes. It is absolutely a runaway hit sing along for young children.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Gift Of Great Songs For Young Children
Bobby Susser has composed a great bunch of songs for preschoolers to sing along to and learn lessons from. The children in my day care center love singing along to all these songs that have the most catchy choruses for young children that you will ever find. The activities for every song are easy for the children to do. I must say that Bobby Susser is not new to the children in my day care center. We have several of his CDs. So, when we got this one and loved it, we were not surprised. He has never disappointed us. If you have a group of children or one child, get this CD. It is a gift of great songs for young children from Bobby Susser, who knows what kids like. ... Read more

Hap Palmer's aesthetic is a strongly educational one. That said, he rarely is dogmatic. Instead, he makes a strong case for the physical enactment of songs--that is, the involvement of kids through games and sing-alongs. Turn on the Music began as a video of the same name and here lives on quite successfully as a series of 21 songs that pivot on the funniness of reversed meanings ("Backwards Land"), unconditional acceptance of other kids ("Francie Had a Football"), and workaday thrills around the house ("Helping Mommy in the Kitchen"). In the accompanying liner booklet there's a great map of the CD and suggested activities, with rules of games and ideas for extending the educational mission of the songs well beyond the CD. Palmer's got an ingenious idea for educating kids, and it shows here as well as anywhere in his catalog of releases.--Andrew Bartlett ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bobby Susser Captures Each Season For Young Children
When I teach my early childhood students about the seasons, it is this album that I use. Every song captures the feeling, mood, and climate of the season it's intended for. Every song is memorable and stimulating. Every song is so uniquely arranged and produced that when your children listen, they are not only introduced and taught about a season, they are entertained and enter into that season with enthusiasm. Whether you want to enhance the season your children are presently in or enter another, you can always depend on Bobby Susser and this album of his to take you and your children to any season you wish. He brings the best out in each season, and your children will love it, as mine do every year.

5-0 out of 5 stars A CD For All Seasons And All Young Children
I received a 4 pack Of Bobby Susser CDs from a teacher friend for me to use with my pre-school class of 3 and 4 year olds. I just got to this one last week. It was the 4th one I played and was very much worth the wait. The CD has songs for every season that cannot be resisted. Children who normally do not join in until they feel more comfortable, immediately start singing on the first listening to these infectious songs, very much like all the other Bobby Susser songs from other CDs. Here, the productions, arrangements, and vocals are a bit moe sophisticated, but kept simple enough for everyone to join in. Each song that tells about a specific season gives you the feeling of that very season. From ,Cool Cool Cool, I Love My Coat, Snowflakes, Baseball, Baseball, It's Too Hot For That, to Fireflies, the CD is absolutely great.

5-0 out of 5 stars These Are Young Children's GREATEST Songs About The Seasons
I have been able to teach my preschool class all about the four seasons by using these great songs and activities. The songs, music, and singers are so wonderful that even my shy students have been drawn in and join in the singing. There's no doubt that Bobby Susser clearly gets his point across in every song and the children are sure to know the differences between the seasons and the delights of each one.
The music moves from season to season with feelings that children can't resist. I would suggest getting a copy for your children. They will love it and so will you.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Rare And Special Seasons CD For Young Children
A special time for my children, husband, and I is when we go for a drive through the country side during any season and sing these songs. We have a two, three, and five year old, and they learned so much about each season from these songs. The content is great and the melodies stay with them and us. We can find ourselves having fun singing "I Love My Coat" with the kids during the summer, and yet the children know that it is a winter song they are singing in the summer. When you think about that for a second, it clearly indicates how rare and special "The Album For All Seasons" is for young kids. While having fun, and singing songs, they thoroughly learn about all the seasons. It's just great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Children Love These Favorite Songs About The Seasons
During the many years I've taught first graders, I've always taught the children about the four seasons. I use literature, posters, discussions, and lots of music. My children usually favor the music. All the children have favorite songs, and they are all in this collection. It's become the only album of songs for the seasons we use, because the children don't want any other. The songs and activities are very easy for the children to learn, and the catchy choruses are ones that the children sing throughout the day. I introduce every season with these songs. There are three songs for each season making a total of twelve great songs. The songs have such intense and positive feelings for each season, and these feelings are conveyed to the kids through the rhythms, the lyrics, the great band, and the singers. These songs about the four seasons are ones that young children love and remember. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Our favorite Tom Chapin CD
What a fun and eye-opening CD! The songs are as much fun for adults as for kids. Listeners learn about dance and instruments from around the world, giving kids a hunger for a geography lesson (Where is Borneo, Mom??).

Our family loves this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tom Chapin is Back
I was a huge fan of Tom and his late brother Harry. His show Make A Wish was a masterpiece. Saw where Tom won the Grammy for this work and my 2 year old grandson agrees it deserves the honor. Something for kids that they can learn and have fun from.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD--you will love it!
Our favorite Tom Chapin CD! We love The Elephant Song, Another
Busy Day (just taught that one to a classroom of third graders!), they are all great! Fun singing in the car on a long trip kind of music!

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT CD for KIDS of all AGES!!!
Our favorites--for today that is!-Didjeridoo, A Forest in the Rain, and In An Elephant World.
What I enjoy most about Tom Chapin is that his songs are all fresh and different (unlike Raffi, for example), and he covers many different topics. Children love them and we adults never get bored listening to them. Around the World is one of our favorite CD's!

5-0 out of 5 stars Get ready to sing and dance!
I love Tom Chapin's music and this is, so far, my favorite album from him. Around the World and Back Again will have you dancing and clapping and singing along! My kids, boys ages 4 years & 16 months, love it as well. It gets us moving happily. Tom Chapin does not "sing down" to kids... he "sings up." He sings songs that teach without being preachy or "babyish." His music is quality music. In my opinion he is one of the best children's musicians out there today. Another bonus is that his music is totally non-character driven (no Elmo or Barney or Rugrats allowed!). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Three Cheers For Bobby Susser
The 3 and 4 year old children at my day care center have become more of a team since they have heard and sung along with the songs on this CD. The collection of songs serves as a marvelous device to teach(not preach) multiculturalism, and its benefits. "I Am Not So Different", "Once We Help Each Other", "We Are Better Together", and "When We're All Standing Together" are great and natural songs that help the kids integrate and realize that we ARE better together. As the kids would say, "three cheers for Bobby Susser.

5-0 out of 5 stars These Songs Teach Young Children Togetherness And Peace
With steel drums on the first song, finger snapping on the second, and a children's chorus on the third song "Dear Mr. President", this collection of easy to learn songs for my day care center brings the message and importance right to the children. The songs are easy for the kids to understand and sing along, and the music keeps the message alive in all the songs. The children love this CD, and learn the benefits of why we are better together. And one of the greatest benefits is peace, peace, and peace in all areas and ways of life. This CD that Bobby Susser made should be heard by all young children from all over the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars 'We Are Better Together' Is A Multicultural Must: Ages 2To8
I am a first grade teacher who's been teaching ideas of multiculture for years. I have used books, photos, videos, and songs to help teach the children about this subject. Most material I found and used shows or tells a story of people from different backgrounds getting along with each other. Different races, languages, and ethnic backgrounds are emphasized and encouraged to live together. This collection of songs differs from all the rest, and in my opinion, is better than the rest because it contains songs that are so catchy, the children are quickly interested in joining in. Once they join in they discover that not only are we better together, but through the songs they are shown, why and how we are better together. Bobby Susser shows children the benefits of working together and living together in peace. These songs are so magnificently written that the children can't miss the messages, and through the lyrics, music, and rhythms Bobby Susser has made sure that the kids don't miss a beat when it comes to knowing that we are better together.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unusually Fantastic Songs Of Peace And Brotherhood
This great collection of children's songs with catchy choruses, children's voices on some of the songs, great instrumentation which includes steel drums and marvelous piano playing that leads the whole rhythm section, and most of all, songs of Peace, and Brotherhood is so appropriate for this time of year as well as throughout the entire year.
