4-0 out of 5 stars The Count is in the house
I love the Count. He was my favorite growing up and I can see my little 22 month old girl catching the count craze. Batty Bat is the best. My little girl gets so tickled at me doing the dance. Wonderful Cd.

5-0 out of 5 stars How do I love Sesame Street? Let me Count the ways...
As always, Sesame Street hits yet another home run with The Count's Countdown. With old favorites that bring back happy childhood memories, this cassette also has recent hits, that only Sesame Street can produce, that appeal to children and adults alike. For example, "Little Miss Count Along" has a SpinDoctors feel. ;o)I use this in my Kindergarden math class-- the kids love it and so do I! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the best cd for children to listen to
Follow That Bird is the best cd for children to listen to, because it helps them learn about everyday things in life. This soundtrack has helped me grow up without hate in my life. This will help other children to grow up with out hate and to learn how to handle everyday situations.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best
I grew up with Sesame Street and Follow that Bird. I have also searched for years to find the soundtrack.I am so glad it's back in print. This soundtrack is full of catchy songs with wholesome lyrics while still managing to be fun.A real must for parents and children alike.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great to Be Back.
Sesame Street and Muppet albums are always a joy and treat to listen to. After so many years of being out of print, it's a real joy to have the soundtrack to FOLLOW THAT BIRD back in print. The album contains the songs from the movie along with a lot of dialogue from the film as well. It has been years since I have seen the movie, but it all came back to me as I was listening to this album. Some of the best tunes on the album include "Upside Down World" by Bert and Ernie; "I'm So Blue" by Big Bird; "The Grouch Anthem" by Oscar; and "Ain't No Road Too Long" sung by various Sesame Street characters and the great Waylon Jennings. This album is wonderful for kids and is great for any Muppet or Sesame Street fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars What a Fun Album!!
This album is filled with catchy tunes, great singing by many of the legendary Sesame Street Muppets, and a nice variety of music styles. My favorite track is "Upside Down World" by Bert & Ernie which is a really fun song, and has some of the classic Bert & Ernie Humor! I think it should've been released as a single! I also love "Easy Going Day" by Bird Bird, and "One Little Star" by Big Bird, Stuffy, and Olivia, which is really a heart warming song! This is one that the whole family can enjoy! All the kids, and all the adults, who use to be kids and still love the Sesame Street Characters!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for those that miss Olivia and Jim Henson....
I'm glad to see this album back in print after being OOP for so long. I thought that Alaina Reed (Hall) was really great on this album.. "One Little Star" is a real tear jurker. "I'm so Blue" is anothersad one by Big Bird. Who could forget the great Jim Henson? It was so goodto hear him again in the song "Upside Down world". This album isgreat for any kid that wants to see some of the original cast members orhear them too. I hope that more ORIGINAL albums come back from SesameStreet... ... Read more

It's hard to overestimate the effect Schoolhouse Rock had on anyone who was a child between 1973 and 1985. Forty-one three-minute educational cartoons set to original songs, they were the original music videos, and they taught countless kids the difference between adjectives ("Unpack Your Adjectives") and adverbs ("Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, Get Your Adverbs Here"), how to multiply ("Three Is a Magic Number"), basic principles of science ("Do the Circulation," "Interplanet Janet"), and American civics ("I'm Just a Bill," "The Preamble"). All of the original songs are here, plus four Money Rock songs--"Dollars and Sense" and "Where the Money Goes" are as classic as any of the original standouts--and four tracks from the short-lived Scooter Computer & Mr. Chips series (which, unlike the rest of the Schoolhouse Rock songs, can be dated by the proto-new-wave-influenced instrumentation). A classic collection of (mostly) timeless songs that shaped the minds of a generation or two: how many box sets can you say that about? --Randy Silver ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless
Anyone born before 1980 remembers the time when cartoons were only played during the day on Saturday mornings (before Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Toon Disney came along). Your Mom couldn't blast you out of bed before 7 a.m. on a weekday, but your internal 'toon clock got you up at 6:30 a.m. to watch Saturday morning cartoons. And inbetween shows, there was a brilliant little series of short musical toons called "Schoolhouse Rocks". Back in the days before Hooked On Phonics or Baby Einstein, these shorts taught multiplying, english grammar, history, and science, all set to fun music and cool blues tunes. In this clever boxed set, you get all four series on CD, averaging about 12 to 14 songs per CD. It's a reasonable price for a boxed set (around 45-50 bucks)and totally worth it! Even kids today know "Conjunction Junction" and "I'm Just a Bill", but haven't heard "Naughty Number Nine", "No More Kings", "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly Get You Adverbs", or "Tax Man Max". It's fun to listen to these songs and remember the words. I bought these for my kids to listen to in the car, and now a new generation is adopting them as their own. We love them, and so will you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Haven't bought the set... YET!
...just wanted to comment on what Peter from Georgia said about all these songs fitting on two CDs rather than four -- this is true! but the reason for the four disks is that they seperate four different Schoolhouse Rock! segments -- Grammer, Science, Math, and Government. Kind of. Like, why is *electricity, electricity* on the same disk with the Grammer stuff and not the Science? I completely understand your point, just thought i'd clarify...

I grew up on these songs, and yes, this is where i learned the parts of speech, the concept of Infinity, and the Preamble to the Constitution, not only the words, but the meaning behind it!!

I still have a tape that i made in the late 80's of a few of the SHR! songs by recording them OFF OF THE TELEVISION and then making copies for friends who shared my enthusiasm.

I've hummed, sung, shared, and connected over these songs for 25 years (YEESH!!!) and i'm REALLY glad that it's still around.

If you just can't get enough of SHR!, you might want to check out the original-resurgence cover album by AltRockers Moby, Ween, Blind Melon, and The Lemonheads, among others, called Schoolhouse Rock! Rocks...

And we can't forget that there wouldn't BE a Schoolhouse Rock! if there weren't a Saturday Morning -- if yer into GenXSlackerRock, check out Saturday Morning Cartoons' Greatest Hits, which came out just previous to the SHR!R release, and spurred the mid-90s revival of all things Saturday Morning.

5-0 out of 5 stars School House Rocks and Scripture Rock sets
My 3 year old grandson enjoys this and all the SCHOOL HOUSE ROCKS CD's. I didn't have such wonderful educational tools for my children so I feel so excited to be able to give it to my grandkids. I have found another CD set that we are thrilled about called SRIPTURE ROCK and ROCK THE WORD. Both of these sets capture and keep a child's attention and imagination and when used together, give any child a well rounded foundation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, also you may really enjoy "SCRIPTURE" ROCK.
Tremendous collection. How better to teach your kids than through fun music!
TO round out the collection for my kids I also got the equally fantastic Bible-memory volume called
SCRIPTURE ROCK, which is available separately.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!
If you are a fan of Schoolhouse Rock, this is definitaly for you. Unlike the "Best Of" cd, this contains EVERY SINGLE SONG ever made for Schoolhouse Rock. Although this is more money than the "Best Of" disc, it is well worth it. Yeah, there are songs that are not worth listening to, but the good ones are so good that it makes up for it. You will be singing them in your head all day! So if your a fan, this is definitaly worth the $. ... Read more

Amazon.com essential recording

Little children love a rock & roll beat. The strong, clear rock rhythm is irresistible to toddlers and preschoolers who can clap, bounce, and wiggle with abandon to the rousing tunes. Though Born to Add is an educational album, it is set to a rock theme that will have tots shaking their booty around the living room. Be it the Springsteen-inspired title cut and "Barn in the U.S.A." or "(I Can't Get No) Cooperation" by Mick Swagger and the Sesame Street Cobble Stones, kids will enjoy the cool tunes so much, they won't even realize how much they're learning. --Deborah Moore ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great, great album
I don't know what some of these reviewers are talking about -- this album is fabulous! Perhaps they don't like it as parents...I'm not sure. But I was listening to this album when it was only an LP, and today, almost twenty years later, I can still groove to it. It's a very special part of my childhood memories, and it's ridiculously fun. In fact, I'm delighted to find it on CD because now I can replace our record, which is really scratched up after so much use.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's like I'm 3 again!!!!
On a sudden nostalgia spree I was perusing the "Sesame Street" CDs and happened upon "Born to Add" so of course I HAD to listen to the soundclip. When I was a kid, Born to Add was always my favorite "Sesame St." song (and I think it had a major psychological impact on the fact that I became a Springsteen nut in my later years!), and for some reason, years upon years after ever watching Sesame St, the song (and the image of the leather-clad muppet who was, I believe, green with a purple nose and dancing in an alley with a curly-haired female muppet which was perhaps supposed to be Bruce's then-wife Julieanne Phillips????) has always stuck in my heart.
But all I can say is, hearing it again was absolutely incredible! I LOVE what an endearing parody of Bruce it is, and all I can say is: If you are a Bruce fan, buy this for your little kid!!!

Also, the other songs on this (Cereal Girl, Barn in the USA, I Can't Get No Co-Operation, Honk around the Clock (my other childhood fave!) etc.) are great and memory-filled, too! I can't wait til I have kids someday, so I can enjoy the guilty pleasure of this Sesame St. CD! :)

2-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Mediocre
We own and love the Sing the Alphabet, Numbers, Platinum, and Platinum Too CDs. Yet, we found this album, Born to Add, to be almost painful. The first couple of times the songs are entertaining (being song/style parodies of popular music). But since our 2yr-old likes repetition, we play our CDs over and over. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS with this album!! I think we don't like this album mostly because the songs just aren't that good. We expect a LOT more from Sesame Street--the other CDs mentioned contain some excellent song/style parodies. We are very disappointed in this purchase.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as Good as Advertised
I bought this for my 10 month old daughter because we just loved Hot Hot Hot Dance Songs and was hoping to find something of similar caliber but this did not live up to that. The songs are OK but not quite as lively as I would like. I appreciated the parodies the first time but it got old quickly. If you are only buying one CD I would definately recommend Hot Hot Hot Dance Songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Children up to 7 years old
I bought this CD for my daughter for her second birthday. She loves the music! She wants to take it each week for 'show n tell.' Even I don't mind listening to the music, and it sure beats the Barney songs.

I found that her cousins, ages 5 - 9 years old, were able to enjoy this album as well. ... Read more

Learning letter sounds has never been more fun! Children repeat letter sounds in a catchy rhythm and then repeat words that have that initial consonant sound. In the review section, children say the letter sound after being prompted. In the "Vowel Song," fun characters such as the Cat on the Mat, the Pig with a Wig and the Fox on a Box will help children remember each of the short vowel sounds. With the fifties twist, children will learn the long vowel sounds as they sing along to the boppin' music. All long and short vowels are taught as well as introducing "y" as a vowel. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Cassette
This is a good cassette. It has helped my daughter learn all the sounds of each letter before the age of 2. She did have some prior experience with my using flashcards and reading to her a lot though.

The one thing that would make it better is also including the combination sounds such as ch, th, ph, etc. And perhaps an intro to blending the sounds together to form words. ... Read more

Unless a seconds-long slice of piano boogie-woogie counts, there is nothing remotely cool or hip about Sharing Cultures with Ella Jenkins. But while your kids are little -- 3 to 8 if you go by the label's recommendation -- you'll never want to remove it from your CD changer anyway. The first lady of children's music earns her reputation here, waving her magic wand over near and distant lands and turning what she discovers into 28 neatly bundled bits of sound. Cultures is not all about music; it plays more like a night by the campfire, with songs and poems erupting from a story whose narrative dips and swerves, rudderless, to the corners of the earth but manages to keep its grip on its listeners anyway. The cultural odyssey (Mexico, Ireland, Turkey, and Russia are among the countries visited) benefits sharply from Jenkins' slow, soothing cadence, but credit is also rightly extended to the children of the LaSalle Language Academy of Chicago, who sing sweetly but mightily on a number of tracks. A 30-page booklet in this 31st Jenkins release clinches its staying power: Song notes and drawings are steeped in whimsy, but a pig Latin lesson pulls kids in closest, acting as a sweet, subtle confirmation that it's speaking their language. --Tammy La Gorce ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Elmo in Grouchland
THe whole reason I bought this CD is because I love that song Mine that Huxley sings. I can't figure out for the life of me why they don't put all the songs on soundtracks! Why, why, why? Can you tell I bought this for my kids?

4-0 out of 5 stars Elmo's the greatest!
I'm an adult having seen the movie and immediately bought the soundtrack. Sesame Street is the greatest influence for our little people, and Elmo is my favorite. This soundtrack is "fun", upbeat, toe-tapping, pure pleasure and a welcome escape from the sometimes harsh reality of the world. I love Kevin Clash as "Elmo". His voice is so sweet, you can't help but smile. I was disappointed at the absence of Mandy Patinkin's song, as Huxley, "Mine"! As you may, or may not know, Mandy is a great singer/actor in his own right, and his song was also fun...very catchy and makes you want to move. It's exclusion took my rating down 1 point. Great soundtrack. I'm glad I bought it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Happiness Street

5-0 out of 5 stars fifth grade teacher LOVES to "do the math!!!!"
As an educator of 5th grade students, I have used Mr. Guffee's "Do the Math" CD with my class. They love long division now because they remember the "Goes Into" Family of Dad, Mom, Sister and Brother! We just hit exponents and "You're my exponents baby" is a super memory aid!

4-0 out of 5 stars great idea!!!!!!!!
i have not yet bought this cd but I think that it would be great for my daughter and myself since we are so in love with music. I can learn things much better if it is something that I enjoy. I will try it out and see for myself but i have no doubt that my 9 year old would get a great amount from it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Memorizing Math Made Musical!
If you or your children have had trouble memorizing math concepts, this CD is for you. Providing math concepts in fun and catchy songs, Harry Guffee is a musical genius. I prefer this to other titles by School House Rock, as Do the Math! goes more into depth with mathematical algorithms and formulas as well as ways to help you succeed. Sometimes funny, others serious, Do the Math! is a great addition to any CD collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Grandmother Says Hooray
For Christmas this year, all the children on my gift list, including my two grandkids, will be receiving Harry Guffee's "Do the Math." In fact, I'm going to send it to some adults I know, too, because independent of learning math in a new and fun way, the songs are delightful and catchy for kids and for grown-ups. I particularly love the songs called Circle of Friends and the Guzinta Family. All my life I've been cursed with a math block, and after playing this CD over and over and over, I have actually remembered many math theories I hadn't thought about in years. I can't think of any other CD I own that is so much fun--and educational besides. I can't recommend it enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD
Harry Guffee has really done an awesome job with this CD. It has funny and fun songs about many math problems. Kids will learn different algorithms, counting methods, and other mathimatical terms with this CD. I definitely give this CD a 5 star, because it's great, great, great. 4-0 out of 5 stars There's gonna be fireworks on the Fourth of July
This CD sponsored by Schoolhouse Rock is a benefit album for Rock The Vote. It features rockers doing cover versions of old "America Rock" Schoolhouse Rock songs, plus some new songs. I liked the remakes a lot, the new songs I didn't like as much. But that may be due to the fact that I have no nostalgia for the new songs. "Rock the Vote" by the Virtuals is an okay song urging people to get out and vote. "I'm Just a Bill" is a great remake of a classic, featuring Issac Hayes as the Bill and Joan Osborne as the Boy. "Sufferin' Till Suffrage" is a fine remake by blues legend Etta James. "The Campaign Trail" is a fun song by original Schoolhouse rocker Bob Dorough. John Popper does a good job with his cover of "The Preamble". Essra Mohawk contributes the new song "Do You Wanna Party?", about the two party system. "Fireworks" is redone in a rap version by old school rappers the Sugarhill Gang. "Three-Ring Government" is a really good remake by the Roots with Jazzyfatnastees. "Get to Know Your Electoral College" by Spicy T & Shihan attempts to explain a concept that a lot of people don't understand. "Messin' With My Bill of Rights!" is a new song by original Schoolhouse rocker Grady Tate. This is an enjoyable album that benefits a worthy cause. Vote Kerry! ... Read more
