4-0 out of 5 stars Split-track
We received this recording as a gift and have really enjoyed it. You may notice that the songs are listed twice, giving you about 50 tracks. The second recording of each song is made available in split-track, which means the music is in one speaker and the children singing are in another. If you adjust your stereo balance to only include the music, you can sing along without the children's voices in the background. As a new parent, I've never seen this anywhere else but on Beatles records, so I thought it was kinda neat. Happy singing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Wonderful
I heard them online and thougt it would be good for my daughter and I was right. This CD contains Children singing very clearly and the music is a clasic. This is a great CD for anywhere. My daughter listens to this CD and the Preschool Tunes and Silly Songs CD's constantly.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 19 month old STILL loves this CD!
This has been my daughter's favorite CD since she was fourteen months old. She loves to dance and go through the hand motions for the songs. She gets really excited when she hears the first song and dances all the way through to the last. I lost the CD at one point and came right back to Amazon.com to buy a replacement. It's a must in our house!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best children's CD I have heard
This CD has fun, engergetic songs that you and your child will love to dance to. You might even find yourself singing them when your child is not around!! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter dances to every song!
I have been playing this CD for my daughter since she was five months old. Now, at 18 months, she dances and wiggles with glee at the first note. Plus, it is children's voices that are singing the songs and she totally connects. If you have to listen to kid songs, and you know you do, this one is palatable. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You will enjoy this one!
This is the most enjoyable children's CD we have found for both the children and us parents! The songs are new and different. Everyone that hears this in our car quickly catches on & sings along!

5-0 out of 5 stars my high maintenance baby LOVES it!
This is a great CD! Carson has loved it since he was a newborn and my husband & I even like the music. I am actually purchasing another one because I have misplaced the one we have and I am anxious to see the look on his face when he hears it again for the first time a few weeks. I highly recommend this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Baby's First Animal Songs
I am back at Amazon ordering 4 more copies of this CD for all homes and cars (including GrandMa's) Our 1 year old loves this. When the songs come on she sings, rocks, sits still and listens and yells if we try to talk over it! She's especially fond of Never Smile at a Crocodile and The Mouse in the Windmill. Everyone in the family knows all the words to these songs by heart and they are cute and catchy. We have lots of baby cd's around - this is her favorite - as well as her 10-year old brothers favorite! (He's forced to listen in the car and this one he likes) ... Read more

Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera, one of entertainment's most unforgettable duos, go together like peanut butter and jelly, Laverne and Shirley, and Laurel and Hardy. Having made a name for themselves with MGM's Tom and Jerry, the Hanna-Barbera team made history when they ushered Ruff and Reddy, the first made-for-television cartoon, into America's consciousness in late 1957. By 1960, The Flintstones were prime-time entertainment for the whole family, and as with its Hanna-Barbera brethren, the show's musical score not only nudged the laughs, but ingratiated itself into the very fabric of contemporary American life. Inventive, lively, and utterly recognizable, the remastered Hanna-Barbera Pic-A-Nic Basket box set is the mother lode of cartoon music. Handsomely packaged, with a faux basket handle and all, these four discs ambitiously tackle the massive canon largely assembled by lyricist Hanna and composer Hoyt Curtin. Discs one and two concentrate on the classics from the earliest tunes to a slew of Yogi Bear sounds to Space Ghost's theme and the zany Hong Kong Fooey theme. Disc three, an array of woodwinds, heavy loping tuba, poppin' slap-tongue bass clarinet, and rock- and jazz-inflected drum and guitar, pays tribute to the brilliantly animated Flintstones. Disc four, excellent filler for mix tapes, contains nearly 100 tracks of sound effects, from boings, footsteps, and explosions to bits of goofy dialogue. Bright moments are found in the trumpet-happy Jetsons theme, the groovy Scooby Doo main title, and the swingin' "Car Hop Song" from the Flintstones. These sounds, together with a terrific accompanying booklet, are altogether winning. --Paige La Grone ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 stars for quantity
Let's face it: no-one in their right mind will sit down and listen to these cds in their entirety. It's not in the nature of the music. But as music to dip into when you need, it's fun.

But shame on Rhino for going only halfway with the packaging. It's a great design ruined by shoddy materials: what's the point of sticking a flimsy cardboard "picnic basket handle" on the box and warning (in tiny lettering on the box) against its use? When I went to pick it up it immediately broke.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good compilation for both the casual fan & extreme fanatic
A wonderful and mostly thorough collection of signature themes and musical cues from the Hanna-Barbera library; with top-notch digital remastering and extensive, informative liner notes. One drawback is the omission of the slightly obscure cartoon themes, notably from the 70s and 80s, in lieu of a generous (and obsessive) compilation of 60s "cartoony" themes and needle-drops. Most of the adventure/superhero themes from the late 60s onward are noticeably absent as well. But the production values are outstanding and the cartoon sound FXs are the best available, bar none (too bad they're not public domain). Hopefully someone from HB and/or Time-Warner is reading this and would consider additional releases to make this a truly complete package. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent "Kids" Music
This is a great CD for both kids and adults. My 3 year old loves it and so do I.I don't mind listening to it "again." It has a really great mix of world music, including slow and fast songs, songs sung by men and women, all sorts of languages, some a cappella, great guitars by Los Lobos. My favorite is "Wimoweh (Mbube) The Lion Sleeps Tonight" (yes - the same song popularized by the Tokens) by Ladysmith Black Mambazo - what a voice. But they're all great. It really is a treasure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Peaceful and Soothing for baby and mom
We love this CD! Understanding that most professionals believe that babies begin to hear at seven months gestation, I started playing this CD every night as I would go to sleep, when I was seven months pregnant. After my daughter was born, I continued to play this CD for her naptimes and bedtime. It rarely failed to sooth baby (and mom) to sleep. I am now expecting my second baby, and I'm starting the whole thing all over again. Let's hope this works as well for baby #2 as it did for baby #1 ! I think I'll go put this CD on...I need a nap :)

1-0 out of 5 stars don't waste your money
Unfortunately, this cd follows the formula of so many other nature cd's, namely: 1. write some sappy, ..., synthesized music, 2. intersperse it with a few nature sounds, but only so the music dominates, and 3. hey! you've got a nature cd! Yeah, this stuff will put you to sleep, but only because its so bad. Actually, the first time I listened to it I was kept awake wondering why I had wasted money on such [stuff], and how much could I get for it in a yard sale. The selections all sound as if they should be theme songs for afternoon movies on Lifetime television, and if you didn't read the titles you would have a tough time telling many of them apart. The final selection is especially laughable, as it consists of grasshoppers and birds chirping in a thunderstorm (again, overshadowed by bad music). Hello, what's wrong with this picture? Bottom line, don't waste your money. I'm sorry I bought it.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you want o relax and destress. . .this is the CD to have!
This is my first TWIN SISTERS CD....but I can guarentee it will NOT be my last. The music on this CD is so soothing and relaxing. I am a Massage Therapist and when I have this CD playing my clients always comment on how "perfect" the music is.
I would highly recommend this CD for those of us that do Bodywork or the general population who just needs wonderful music to unwind and destress after a busy day. I have also found it quickly calms infants and children!

5-0 out of 5 stars you have nothing to lose...except tension!
I was recently in a treatment center, which was highly stressful. In the evenings, there were times when all of the patients would try relaxation techniques after especially hard days. One person I knew brought this CD and played it for us. I've never found an instrumental CD that actually relaxes me, though I have certainly heard my share of music that tries to incorporate ocean sounds and bird calls for the sake of relaxation. But this CD is different. Finally, I was able to forget the trials of every day and find strength for the next. I couldn't wait to get home and buy my own copy. This WILL be worth your money, I can assure you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best
I have to be honest that I am just not a fan of classical music and have never been able to relax to those nature cds....BUT this CD has some kind of magic power to it. Twin Sisters Productions has found just the right formula for putting together a collection of relaxing music. No matter how rough the day has been after just a few minutes of this CD (or any other in the Growing Minds with Music series) I can just feel the tension disappear. A collection of music that I would highly recommend to all. ... Read more

It takes a lot of cowabunga (or something!) to rerecord classic Beach Boys fare, beach or no beach. But the makers of Catch a Wave: Beach Music for Kids can't be denied, even if their thin voices aren't always quite the match for legendary Brian Wilson songs such as "When I Grow Up (To Be a Man)" and the immortal "In My Room." Still, kid vocalists Tahkus Ekedal, Bernie Steinberg, and Sudhananda give it a big go and manage to capture the spirit and sentiment of these tunes (if not the perfect wave of sound). Surrounded by other Beach Boys stuff, from "Surfin Safari," "Surfer Girl," and "Fun, Fun, Fun" to "Kokomo," "Dance, Dance, Dance" and other summer songs, lie the predictable versions of "Wipe Out," "Little Old Lady from Pasadena," and "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," novelty pieces made for surf and sand. If nothing else, hearing these kids cover what could well be the soundtrack for the endless summer, grown-ups will want to dust off their old copies of Beach Boy albums or, better yet, update them to CD. --Martin Keller ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Try exposing kids to the original Beach Boys recordings
This is a fine CD, but the Beach Boys' voices were so angelic to begin with, that the original recordings are quite listenable for kids. My 3-year old loves the Beach Boys. Given that most of the original Beach Boys' recordings consisted of sophisticated vocal and musical arrangements (how many pop songs do you know that regularly include French horns, kettle drums, sleigh bells, banjo, and FIVE-part vocal harmonies?), you probably can't go wrong playing the original songs.

Music for Little People yet again proves its prowess at laying down grooves that both kids and their parents want to plug into with the 13th release in its exceptional Celebration series. A Child's Celebration of Soul is among the rare handful of kids' records that prompt a right-minded adult to reread the CD jewel case carefully, just to be sure its contents are no accident. Is it possible the same child who asks persistently for repeat plays of Barney's Greatest Hits might one day clamor instead for classic soul nuggets such as Sam & Dave's "Soul Man" and Aretha Franklin's "Respect"? Celebration effectively blankets the soul bases, offering a taste of everything from the blue-eyed variety to early Motown to the Memphis blues, light style. Better yet, a couple of these numbers--James Brown's fabulously funked-up "Get on the Good Foot" and Gladys Knight & the Pips' full-throttled "Friendship Train" in particular--deliver this music's roots, stitched tightly to the social themes of its time, to the table. A more festive, positive-vibe-producing opportunity to tackle the subject of racial unrest with the kids is not likely to arise; neither, for that matter, is the chance to cut the rug with one's very own rug rats to Robert Parker's "Barefootin'." Above all, this record is an onramp for lucky young listeners to the timeless sound of classic soul music, whose top talents even today remain musically unsurpassable. --Tammy La Gorce ... Read more

From the guys (Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen) who brought you the book Chicken Soup for the Soul and its various incarnations (i.e., additional revenue streams), Chicken Soup for Little Christian Souls beatifically packages 14 feel-good songs about God, Jesus, and living the good life. While Wes King's "Joy," divine diva Rebecca St. James's "Jesus Loves the Little Children," and Godspell's "Day by Day" are what you'd expect on such a Christian Souls set, there are also some surprises here. The folk-singing giant Bill Staines opens the disc with his resplendent "A Place in the Choir" while traditional folkies Mike and Peggy Seeger do a simple, unvarnished version of "Who Built the Ark? Noah, Noah" that stands in good contrast to the record's more produced cuts--such as the old Ray Stevens hit "Everything Is Beautiful" and Ocean's gospel pop hit "Put Your Hand in the Hand." The parent might wonder why at least one tune from Jesus Christ Superstar wasn't included, but your kids will still thrill to the rich assortment and voices that color this children's sing-along testament to faith, which is bound to earn Canfield and Hansen even more credit in heaven. --Martin Keller ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Great philosophy, good lyrics, but the actual music?!
I got this CD for my son for our van, thinking we could learn the songs and sing them together as we run errands, etc.I really like the idea of Christian music for children, and I like the lyrics of the songs. However, I can not stand the country feel of this CD.I am not a fan of country music at all, and this is just a bit too 'twangy' for me.I can't listen to it. I am giving it three stars because the concept is good, but I just wish I would have known the *style* of music before spending money on it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Exciting praise and worship for jr. church kids
We are always looking for motivational songs for our children's groups.Since I also teach instruments, I scrutinize the background compilation and rhythms.Overall, the quality of this collection is the best I have reviewed. The minor shortcomings are far overshadowed by the content, artistry and balance of styles. We are currently using JOY and YES! I CAN DO IT to back up our Jr. Church group in their opening exercises. They love the CD and are trying to find some to purchase for their own.The positive attitude supported by biblical principles is outstanding and we look forward to future offerings from this producer. My husband found ours last April while we were shopping in Delaware - it must have been a brand new release - but I am totally baffled as to why we cannot locate it in Michigan. I suppose we will check the same location when we are there this April. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good songs
We enjoy the songs on this CD. I was a little thrown when I played the first song, I'm a Little Teapot and it was sung by singers with a heavy British accent.

5-0 out of 5 stars A notch above all other choices of children's music
As a parent you will love this as much as your children. The music doesn't "play down" to kids' ears. Rather it is a strong collection of classic songs with new compositions that will have you playing it over and over again. The whole family will be singing along and strumming the fiddle and banjo. And for even more enjoyment, there is a Playtime Songs video that covers the same material with outstanding animation. This is our number one gift of choice to parents of toddlers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Playtime Songs
This is without a doubt our favorite kid's music! It's the only
cassette my 3-year old will listen to in the car, and even my 16-month
old sings along! This cassette features various artists singing
traditional children's songs, backed by guitars, fiddles, banjo, and
even mandolins for a real knee slappin' good time! We recognized most
of the songs right off, but were especially delighted to hear the
songs sang with their complete verses....The vocalists are fabulous,
the music is fun and folksy but sophisticated enough for me. It's as
if someone purposely set out to create children's music that parents
wouldn't tire of. It's truly a treasure!

In the recent annals of classical music collections for parents of young children, almost all releases have been aimed at the developing brain. The music's largely been mellow, even when specifically oriented towards playtime. Good Music for Little Guys shares the classical affiliations, but it veers overtly and unabashedly towards play. The music is bright and active, from Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever" to Copland's "Hoe Down," with lesser-known pieces clocking in with quick tempos. What the more obviously robust music does well is aid in play, with march rhythms that can have kids participating in a mock parade and well-lit orchestrations that can incite impromptu dancing. The recordings are drawn from Delos Records' many releases, and each is well produced and exemplary. --Andrew Bartlett ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Just For Little Guys
My two sons, ages 4 and 1, love the CD. They love to dance, march, and jump to these upbeat classical favorites. It is a great way to have kids burn energy while working the body and mind. Occasionally I point out the different instruments, loudness, speed of the music, name of the piece, composer etc. It is nice to have all of these favorites compiled on one CD. The CD is 67 minutes long so I start the CD at a different spot each time. The title is misleading, I think it should read "Good Music for Little Guys and Girls"!

5-0 out of 5 stars A favorite of MY little guy
My 18-month-old enjoys this album a lot. If he's feeling grumpy, starting it up will usually bring at least a temporary smile at the first strains of "The Stars and Stripes Forever". If he's in a good mood to begin with, he really gets into it, moving with the music. It's a lot more tolerable on repeat than some of his other favorite albums, as well, which makes my day more pleasant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classical music for playtime
I bought this album for my grandson when he was just 11 months and he immediately danced to the music. Now he is 16 months old and as soon as he hears the first piece, he runs to get his rhythm instruments so he can keep time to the music. Most of the baby classical albums don't have lively music so this is a real treat. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to encourage a love of classical music and a sense of rhythm. ...
