5-0 out of 5 stars Clean music for your older kids
My girls are starting to balk at "children's" music, so trying to find songs with clean lyrics is difficult--this CD has just that. My girls are nine and eleven and love this CD. My two year old likes it and, did I mention, that I love it too! I agree with a previous reviewer. It does have songs about male/ female love, but they are sung in such a way that it also fits the love a parent feels for his or her child. I wish Martha would put out more kids CD's as this one is just perfect.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for all ages
Elvis Costello and Jane Siberry were the names that attracted my wife and I to this CD, but there really is something for everyone on it. The whole thing maintains a great vibe, while traveling through disparate genres.

Yes, a couple of the songs have the adult male-female relationship as their theme, which was a bit unsettling at first. But then I decided that the terms of endearment and descriptions of affection in those songs could generally describe the way a parent feels about his or her child. ("I love you, always forever, near or far...", etc.)

My girls - ages 2 and 4 - often ask for this CD, both on car trips and at home and love to dance and sing along. A couple of the tunes may be a bit too esoteric for them at their ages, but that is totally made up for by the pure joy of "Mockingbird", the silly repetition of "Everything Reminds Me of My Dog" and the uptempo bluegrass energy of "The Fox". If you're on the edge of buying it, but can't quite decide whether you want to or not, this reviewer says: take the leap, you and your kids won't regret it!

5-0 out of 5 stars What a nice suprise!
Saw this in the record store and cringed when I saw Martha's name on it but listened to it and it is a great collection of music. A real variety of artists and very up beat. We play it all the time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great CD - but more for adults than kids
I picked this CD up to raise my eyebrows at the omnipresent Martha Stewart, now having a go at children's music. My husband looked at the songs and artists on the back and said "This isn't a bad collection." So we purchased it. Personally, I love the CD. There's a mixture of songs anybody would know ("If I had a hammer", "59th St. Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy") as well as some more obscure numbers; likewise there are artists I know well (like Elvis Costello) and others with whom I was not familiar. All of the songs are melodic and G-rated. However, I just don't think this particular assortment of songs is especially suitable for the younger kids it is marketed for. The combination of songs is too disparate, and the songs themselves are too alternative and, in some cases, too complex for little kids to enjoy. And a lot of the songs pertain to male/female relationships, which is just not a topic that young children relate to. I'd recommend this CD to the adults and teens in the family, but don't expect your younger child to display much interest.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Collection
You don't have to be a kid to enjoy this one. With the likes of Nickel Creek, Elvis Costello, James Taylor, Sara Hickman and Harry Belafonte on board, all you have to do is like good music! ... Read more

You've seen kids who are too cute for their own good? Or really proud parents (usually really new parents) who think that every new trick little Johnny or Maddie performs is so adorable that they could die? Well Toddlers Sing Playtime is the audio equivalent of both. Eighteen tracks long, Toddlers covers many of the popular kid songs you'll hear on Barney ("A Sailor Went to Sea," "Bingo"), the old war horses ("She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain," "Hokey Pokey," "London Bridge"), and some lesser known original ditties ("My Little Playmate," "Jump Rope Medley"). Toddlers will cotton to this playful, sing-songy sweetnessfest. --Martin Keller ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good song selection, but annoying singing
We received this CD as a gift when expecting our baby. While we certainly appreciate the thought behind the gift, as the songs on the CD are good and the idea of children singing the songs is good, the CD is unfortunately quite annoying. First, the children do not sing with their natural singing voices. Instead, almost every one of them affects an annoying, Little-Rascals-Alfalfa-like voice. Second, ninety-nine percent of the solos are sung by children with real or affected speech impediments. I have nothing against children with speech impediments, but I don't think their singing is any cuter than that of children without speech impediments. In fact, since my child is just learning to speak and sing, I would prefer that he hear the singing of children without speech impediments, so that he is not confused about how to say or sing certain words. I would think that this would be helpful for children with speech impediments, as well. It is too bad that these two things make the CD so annoying, because the songs selection is good otherwise.

4-0 out of 5 stars Toddler Sings - Our kids loved it (and so did we)
We got this tape in a library pack for a long road trip. We had a geat time singing all the songs - they are really wonderful. The little kids voices can be pretty irritating (really irritating at times!) but the fun wins out.

Vapid lyrics will leave you wanting to push eject!
Vapid/obnoxoius lyrics which in some cases are NOT age appropriate for young children. One exapmle:

Cindarella, dressed in yellow
Went upstairs to kiss her fella
How many kisses did it take?
1,2,3,4,5,6,7, more . . .

Please do yourself a favor ans skip this tape. do the rest of the world a favor and buy and destroy any copies you find at retail. It really is that annoying!

5-0 out of 5 stars Loads of Fun!
We love this CD! My one-year-old son and three-year-old daughter have a great time dancing every day to it. My daughter knows all the words. The kids on the CD are so funny and still make me chuckle. I would recommend Toddlers Sing Playtime to any one who has energetic kids who love to dance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sounds of joy
I bought this tape for my 16 month old not knowing what to expect. This was to be an alternative to the television that finds itself on all day long in my house. My little girl loves this CD. The kids on the tape can be annoying but they do sound so cute and the songs are just long enough that when they start to grate on the nerves (and believe me listening to this CD over and over and over will get on your nerves) the song is over and the next one starts. This is a good buy if you want a distraction while you are making dinner. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Another interesting musical anthology from Capitol's artists
The Capitol Sings collection is one of my favorite musical anthology series. During the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s the record label basically had its artists singing just about every song ever written (well, it sure seems that way). Most of the volumes I had are devoted to a particular composer or team thereof (e.g., Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hammerstein), but "Small Fry: Capitol Sings Kids' Songs for Grownups" takes a different approach, providing some of Capitol's big names, such as Nat King Cole and Gordon MacRae, singing what are essentially novelty songs.

That means you will recognize the songs, such as "Teddy Bear's Picnic" and "Swinging on a Star," but you probably have never heard these versions, done respectively by Frank DeVol and the Four Freshman. There might be some exceptions to this rule, such as Johnny Mercer's "Glow Worm" and "Mairzy Doats" by the Pied Pipers, but you get the idea. There is something charming about Gordon MacRae doing the "Pussycat Song (Nyot Nyow)" and "'A' You're Adorable (The Alphabet Song)" (he likes parenthetical song titles apparently). Sometimes you just have to smile at the idea of the Merry Macs recording "Pop Goes the Weasel" or Tony Bennett doing "Jepers Creepers." You have no other choice when Mel Blanc does the "Woody Woodpecker Song."

I had never heard the whole version of "Bushel and a Peck," so it was nice to finally hear that and everybody needs to know about the "Hokey Pokey." It is also interesting to hear covers of a lot of tunes from Disney films, with June Christy doing "Give a Little Whistle," the Jubalaires singing "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," Mercer doing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah," MacRae's "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," and the Lettermen doing "When You Wish Upon a Star." You also get a couple of nice lullabies from Nat King Cole, "There's a Train Out for Dreamland" and "(Go to Sleep) My Sleepy Head." You will recognize enough of the songs and the artists to appreciate that you will probably enjoy the rest. All of these Capitol Sings albums are worth at least a listen for those who appreciate such musical stylings.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best compromise!!
My Sister-in-Law gave us this when my daughter (now 15 months) was born. It is "her" CD when we are in the car - and she kicks along to the rhythm of the songs! But the best part is that it's great to listen to for adults too...
Not your usual, insipid, sing-songy giggly-gaggle-of-children songs... classics by big bands and great artists!
Sure, one or two WILL get on your nerves after several repetitions - but that's what the fast-forward button is for!

Best CD for both adults and kids I've found!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great collection!
I remember singing along with all these songs when I was little. These are all my childhood favorites, performed by some vocal masteres, and there's plenty of songs on here too! This is an excellent buy, you can listen to it yourself and reminisce about your youth, and best of all your child can grow up listening to the same happy melodies you did!

This is a must have for any young or young-at-heart.

5-0 out of 5 stars Childhood Memories
This CD brings back to me some of my very favorite momories of the songs that my mother used to sing to me that she heard on the radio at the time. My mother is now in her 80's and her great grandchildren are hearing these songs as they were produced and that she still sings today to all of our family's new youngsters. These catchy tunes will never go out of style and are reminiscent of a time when our world was a lot more peaceful. I am ordering more of this CD all the time because so many who have heard this CD are requesting a copy. I truly reccomend this CD to all who love any of these old songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars We've worn out 2 of these CD's already!
My 6 year old listened to this every night for over a year...it is beautiful, soothing and comforting and there is nothing to jar a child who is falling asleep. I hear him humming to it after I shut his door, and then he just drops off to sleep. It's great, and I'm buying my third copy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, soothing bedtime music...
We received this as a gift and began playing it at night to soothe our fussy newborn. At first I never payed much attention to the lyrics, but I did notice and appreciate the very soothing melodies. One night while holding our daughter in my arms I really started listening to the lyrics. A few of them perfectly expressed the love I felt for my her. "Father's Love" and "Little Boy Blue" brought tears to my eyes, they were so beautiful. I know I'm a father now when I have "Swedish Lullaby" running through my head all day! I'm not a fan of religious music, but most of this CD is simply beautiful music and soothing melodies -- a big improvement over some children's music I've heard. I plan on asking for the first volume of this collection for Christmas. ... Read more

Album Description

Learning our 50 states and their capitals has never been more fun! Children travel through each state learning important facts and trivia while singing "I want to learn about my country and learn about each state. I want to learn all the facts that make our nation great." All states are sung in alphabetical order to the old favorite song "Turkey in the Straw." Once children are familiar with the tune, the song is repeated in double time, which adds to the excitement of memorizing our fifty states. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worked like a charm!
My daughter wants to listen to this CD every chance she gets. Her friends love it too. I have learned my state capitals all over again and had fun doing it with my child, it's great!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not engaging, not useful
I had high hopes for this CD, as I'd like a fun way to teach my kids the states. However, the "songs" are mostly kids speaking the words (not singing) with a musical background. The details about the states are not consistent -- for example, for one state you learn when it became a state, for another, what its state flower is (how is that relevant to what the state is like?) and yet another, the major crops or the weather. It's useless as music, and useless as learning. The Animaniacs "States" song is much more engaging; I think I'll teach that one to my kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS
This is the best cd to use to teach Kindergarteners the states. My class just loves singing it and we song the states song for the kindergarten graduation.

Based on the successful book series of the same name, this imaginatively compiled selection brings together songs that have an affirming message for children. Ranging from the pomp of Broadway songs like Cy Coleman's "One Brick at a Time" (sung heartily by Glenn Close) to the 1960s folk-pop of Mama Cass Elliot's "Make Your Own Kind of Music" to the synthesizer and drum-machine sound of children's entertainer Joanie Bartels's "Give a Little Love," the collection features a wonderful variety of musical styles and songs, not all of which were originally conceived for children. The collection's strength lies in the inclusion of several show tunes: the energetic songs stand out so much from the more smoothly orchestrated children's fare that your child may beg to be the next Annie (or Oliver). --Bryony Angell ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly uplifting!
I bought this CD because of one song, "A Place in the Choir." My 8 year old son, who loves to sing, joined the childrens' choir at his Catholic school. He is the only boy in the choir and immediately became the brunt of teasing because of this. I had never heard the song before, but I hoped it would help.

What an amazing transformation. From the instant they heard the first track, both of my children (6 y.o. daughter too) sucked up both the music and the message like sponges. The music is energetic and uplifting and the messages, although varying slightly from song to song reaffirm that each one of us is unique and valuable.

Surprisingly, it wasn't "A Place in the Choir" that spoke to my son (although he loves that song too). It was Cass Elliot's song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" that touched him. He said "You know Mom, I like that line 'it tears them up to see some one like you.' I think that is why some people were teasing me."

You go son!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lifts spirits

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Collection
I first heard this album working as a nurse in a hospital NICU nursery. I saw so many babies soothed and rocked to sleep with this music. It consistently drew compliments from parents. I just gave a copy to my sister-in-law for her and her new baby girl. She loves it too. Every track is soft, soothing, rocking chair-cuddle music. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Lullaby CD
I first bought this CD based on the songs that it has in the CD. The first time I played it for my son--while I was trying to put him down for a nap--it worked like a charm!! We have also learned to pack the CD when we are traveling because my son (who is 19 months old now) has gotten so used to listening to it as he drifts off to sleep that sometimes, especially if we are somewhere new, he is not able to go to sleep without the CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars good stuff
I think this CD is cute. not only does it have wonderful children singing but it also has a nice instumental version. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with an infant.

5-0 out of 5 stars a musical masterpiece!
As a mother of a newborn son, I have been somewhat skeptical of all the "trendy" newborn CDs being released. I bought this one on a whim, and couldn't be more pleased! The vibrant melodies weave a gossamer thread of peace over my busy life! Thanks to the twins for making such beautiful music!

1-0 out of 5 stars the same old stuff

Children celebrate the world through calypso, Cajun, an Irish ballad, and even a spunky breakbeat Latin rap. Ninth in the Child's Celebration series from Music for Little People, A Child's Celebration of the World is a virtual Epcot for the ears. This is a fun, funky, parent- and kid-friendly education. Longtime family favorite Raffi sings "Just Like You and Me," which teaches commonality in diversity. The Chenille Sisters' "On a Vacation" teaches kids how to speak funny phrases in German, Japanese, and Spanish: "I forgot to pack my underwear," "My sister needs a diaper change," and "Beans certainly are a musical fruit," respectively. Sweet Honey in the Rock count in French, Japanese, Swahili, and Spanish. Kids are bound to giggle through countless playings and will surely put their newly acquired linguistic skills to the test. --Paige La Grone ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A CD the Whole Family Will Enjoy
Don't let the title of this CD fool you. This is one of those "children's" CD's that parents won't mind listening to again and again. "A Child's Celebration of the World" includes a variety of songs -- from the a great recording of Miriam Makeba's "Pata Pata" (my favorite) to the super-silly "On a Vacation" (learn how to say "My sister needs a diaper change" in Japanese), from the gentle "Anishanabe" to "Fiesta Musical" (a sort of rap song in Spanish). This is both educational and enjoyable -- a rare combination in children's music.

4-0 out of 5 stars Recommended! Good Language Exposure. Fun. Not Commercial.
My children have listened to this CD for two months now, and we recommend it. We rank this much higher than most of the commercial children's music on the market, like Disney and various pop music CD's for kids.

This collection has some outstanding songs your children will love that you would have a hard time finding otherwise, like "The Unicorn" and "On a Vacation," which is very funny. You even get the wonderful "Like Me and You" by Raffi.

This CD is not perfect. Some of the songs are not good. The recurring "Sweet Honey on a Rock" is extremely annoying.

But the rest of the good songs make up for it. Get it for the language exposure and the handful of excellent songs.

I also highly recommend any CD's by Raffi if you are looking for the highest quality and most fun children's music. Raffi is the best of all.

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughter can't stop celebrating!!!
I first bought this CD because I wanted my daughter to be accustomed to hearing different types of languages. She immediatly fell in love with this CD and doesn't want to hear anything else. I recomend it for all children, of all ages, esspecially adults, I love it as much as she does and love to sing along. The tunes are just too catchy :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD - Highly Recommended!

I love that it introduces my children to unique cultures from around the world. And, it makes for great listening for a parent too - and I say that after listening to it over and OVER in the car!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lullabies from around the World to put your kids to sleep
I have always had a pet theory that with babies and small animals HOW you say something is always more important than WHAT you say. "The World Sings Goodnight" would certainly seem to put that theory to test as it offers lullabies from 33 different cultures, each sung in its native tongue. This means only a handful are sung in English and that until they are old enough to read the liner notes your little ones are never going to know what these songs are about. This is probably a good thing because there are songs that tell children "to wake you up we'll cut off your ears" and contemplate giving them to a witch or a bad man. My favorite is the lullaby from Egypt where the parent promises to bring the child two pairs of pigeons to eat or two pairs of black beetles to play with, but quickly explains to the animals that this is only being said to the baby so he will sleep.

These lullabies are sung either a capella or with the simple instrumentation of the culture, which can mean anything from end-blown bamboo flute to hurdy-gurdy to goat bells and hammered dulcimer. There is even on song accompanied by crickets. One nice thing about this album is that gender does not matter when it comes to singing a baby to sleep. Males sing the Indonesian lullaby where the mother pleads "Sleep and grow up well, honey, so that you can protect me later, because your father has gone away and forgotten you" and the Ogalia Sioux song where a woman sees the ghost of her dead husband (thus we learn that lullabies do not need to contain the typical lullaby references found in every typical lullaby to be an effective lullaby). There are also several nice examples of lullabies involving sweet harmonies between a pair of singers, including a piece written by producers Tom and Susan Wasinger that is quite lovely. These songs collected from five continents are song by "folk" voices in an effort to have these songs sung by people who have really had to persuade babies and young children to go to sleep. Final Note: I was listening to this CD in the morning and I almost fell asleep, so there is a very good chance it will work on your little ones as well.

Music for Little People has been living up to its moniker with a cornucopia of remarkable children's music releases since the mid-1980s. Its 15th Anniversary Collection is something of a greatest-hits package, with such notable "adult" performers as Taj Mahal (doing "Shake a Tailfeather"), Los Lobos, Michelle Shocked, the Persuasions, Maria Muldaur, and others. But it's the forever-young Raffi with "Baby Beluga" and Ladysmith Black Mambazo's "Mbube (The Lion Sleeps Tonight)" that will especially appeal to the little folks. Throw in Buckwheat Zydeco's rockin' Cajun version of an old New Orleans hit "Iko Iko" and Bill Haley and the Comets' timeless blast from the '50s, "Rock Around the Clock," and you get a party record the whole family will enjoy in the car or at home. Did somebody say Music for Little People rocks? Yes, and a whole lot more, too! -Martin Keller ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Overall, This CD is More for Adults than Children
Naturally, that is my humble opinion. Many of the tracks, as you can see from the listing of songs/artists, are well-known recordings, and not geared towards children. "Monster Mash" and "Wooly Bully," while great and fun music, just aren't the kinds of songs my three-year-old, one-year-old, and I enjoy rocking out to together. Give us the traditional kids fare, like that which makes up Music for Little People's "Playtime Favorites"! If you're of like mind, this album may not be for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD to engage you and your child
We just recently received our CD and we love it. My son (7 months old) and I play it almost every afternoon and we sing and dance and his little eyes just light up! And sometimes my son just enjoys listening quietly.

I debated on whether to get this or another CD collection by one artist and I'm really glad I decided on this one because it provides such a variety of songs, music, and artists and that's one of the things that makes this CD so good. Plus we now have been exposed to several artists we would not have known which opens up new windows of music opportunities.

I would definately buy this as a gift for friends and will look for additional CD's produced by the same company as well as some of the artists of our favorite songs on this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the car
My daughter and I love this collection of songs. We've learned the words to all of the songs and delight in listening to the music over and over. We particularly like to listen to this when we drive in the car. It keeps us both awake and entertained. The songs are adult versions of classic and contemporary songs, performed by accomplished artists. No annoying out of tune or overly high pitched voices. The album is pleasing to both adult and kids' ears. We like this collection so much that I have purchased other Music for Little People collections.

4-0 out of 5 stars Music for the Whole Family
While this CD may not be a soothing bedtime elixer, it is just what the Dr. ordered if you're looking for a fun, sophisticated selection of songs which will appeal to the whole family. While the previous reviewer didn't think it calmed her child for bed, the fact that this CD captured her daughter's attention and imagination suggests that these songs do indeed encourage cognitive development and music appreciation. And it doesn't hurt that the parents, grandparents and siblings of these young listeners will also find themselves humming along to this infectious collection of wonderful tunes.

4-0 out of 5 stars No lullaby
My two-year-old daughter loves this CD, especially the ''Baby Beluga'' song, but except for Raffi, most of the artists featured in this collection are better known for their ''adult'' music. My daughter requests this CD every night, but I'm not sure it actually helps her fall asleep: she's too busy trying to say ''yellow submarine'' and singing along to ''The Little Red Caboose''. A nice compilation, and not as cloying as some music aimed at young children. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD, It makes me remember the Magic of my last vacation
I have really enjoyed this CD. I love hearing my favorite songs from the park over and over. It's the one CD that my kids even enjoy listening to. (Even my 13 year old!) My 10 year old's favorite is the Ballad of Davey Crockett and Haunted Mansion Theme Song. He has them both memorized. We even listened to it this winter when it was snowing outside, to remind us of our summer vacation to WDW, and to give us something to look forward to next summer. It is a must for any Disney Fan!

2-0 out of 5 stars False advertising in the title
I bought this C.D because I wanted "Music from the Park" not remakes of the true music that is in Walt Disney World. I was very disapointed when I started listening to the songs. A couple of years later I found the true music from the park called "Where magic lives, The official album from Walt Disney World". I bought it at Downtown Disney in Orlando but I'm not sure if it's available other places outside the park. The closest album available for sale here on amazon.com is "Walt Disney World Resort in Florida". It has almost all of the songs my CD has plus a few more. If you love the true music from the park I'd recommend one of these other CD's.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you're a Disney fan, run away
This CD takes the music we all know and love from the parks and skrews them up with the lounge-style of the artists singing them. If you want to buy this CD because you love the music from the park, this is not the one for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars You need to broaden your mind
I love Disney music, but you know what, I do not always want to listen to Disney music. This is a great collection of songs that are interpretations of disney songs done in the artists style. TRULY GREAT BACKGROUND MUSIC FOR LIFE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney Fun and Memories
The first time I heard this CD, I thought, "Goodness, what have they done to that familiar Disney music?" I was shocked!

Then I listened again, and again, and again. I have the CD in my car and I play it over and over. Tim Curry's version of "Davy Crockett," always makes me laugh. The SpectroMagic parade theme makes me cry remembering the beauty of the parade. I can sing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" and "It's a Small World."

The first time you hear this CD, you may not really like it. If you play it for the third time, you will love it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Most enjoyable childrens music
The Mother Goose Rocks series (especially 3 and 4) is great music for the whole family. Having 3 kids, ages 7yrs, 5yrs and 15 months we can all enjoy the familiar nursery rhymes while clapping our hands and dancing to the latest top 40 back ground music. The music all sounds like it is performed by theoriginal popular artists. The big kids never complain that it sounds like baby music and they sing right along while teaching our youngest how to shake his little bootie.I highly recommend this cd if you occasionally get tired of the standard nursery rhymes performed the same way over and over.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun CD
This is such a fun CD to listen to -- for kids & parents, hysterical, in fact. The Wheels on the Bus is my favorite track, with Where is Thumbkin coming in a close second.I also recommend buying it through Amazon.com ... other specialty stores have quite a mark-up!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mother Goose DOES Rock
My son and I love this CD. This is one childs CD you'll want to listen to! It is wonderful. Thank you to the artists on this CD

5-0 out of 5 stars Rockin' Goose!

5-0 out of 5 stars SONGS FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

YOU AND YOUR CHILD WILL IMMEDIATELY IDENTIFY THE CURRENT AS WELL AS THE NURSERY RHYME SONG FOR EACH TRACK. NICE ADDITION TO ANYONE'S CD COLLECTION. ... Read more

I had orginally the Reggae for kids first CD when I had my first child. Someone had given it to us as a shower gift. 5-0 out of 5 stars so much fun
This is so much fun, we put it on and the kids dance and sing, and sometimes mom joins in. The songs are easy for my 6 yr.old twins to sing along with and mom and dad get all nostalgic. Buy and enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kid's Dance Party Volume 3
I bought this CD because it had the song,"Old Time Rock and Roll" on it. Seven of my grandchildren (ages 2,3,4,4,6,6,and 10,both boys and girls)love this music. We have our own dance party, especially when they are here at the same time!"Shake Your Booty" is everyone's favorite now, with "Crocodile Rock" close. It's great fun for all of us children and their parents tolerate it pretty well. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars What a production!
At first I thought it was unusual for men to be singing lullabys. However, like all of the Ellipsis Arts Lullaby CD's this one is outstanding!! The tracks are from all over the world, including Italy, Denmark, Greece, Sicily and Argentina. What a production!!

5-0 out of 5 stars So beautiful
This CD was a shower gift and it is so special to us. I play it for our son every time he goes down to sleep. The insert contains the lyrics in both the native languages and English. I can't get through reading the words to the opening track, Piccolo Girasol, without losing it. It makes you really understand how universal a father's love is for his children. I can't wait to hear Mama's Lullaby. I'm sure it's as touching as this sweet CD. It's also nice to know that your children are listening to sounds in other languages, which can only help their language development.

5-0 out of 5 stars the BEST fathers day present...sleep!
i have nearly all of the lullaby cd's from ellipsis arts and can't recommend them highly enough. however this was a special fathers day present from me to my son, and i (er...we!) love it! all the songs carry the weight of the love of a father like a wonderful down comforter ready to wrap your child up and send them confidently and peacefully to sleep. do i have a favorite...yes, every track! the whole cd is truly an excellent buy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful CD for your nursery!
As a first time parent I want to give my child every advantage I can. Studies have shown that playing music to your child helps to enhance their learning ability.

I saw "Baby's First" cd series and as they were so affordable I decided to go ahead and buy them without hearing them first.

My decision has been rewarded! The cd's are very good, and provide hours of music to stimulate my babies mind.

Buy this CD today, you won't be disappointed, and neither will your youngsters! :)

I have two daughters, 4 and 1 1/2. I always have music playing for them in their room for naps, sleepytime or just for fun. I also teach 5th grade, and I always have different varieties of music playing in my classroom. I took a chance on the Baby's First series because they are so affordable. Yikes! They are TERRIFIC for ALL ages, and they are so well done! I have sent these CDs to a lot of my friends with kids, and a lot of the other teachers at school have also ordered them for their classes. I LOVE THESE CDs! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous
This is one of my VERY favorite albums. I had given it to a family member to borrow, and couldn't wait to get it back, so I had to buy another copy :) The song choices are great and I can't wait to play it for my child when it arrives in November.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite album
I keep this tape in my car, must have played it 300 times, and "Sunshine" never fails to bring me to tears (I was my Mom's Sunshine). All the songs and all the artists are superb. I am ordering it on CDs for myself and my two children and their children because every parent and child needs this heart music.

5-0 out of 5 stars Our CD was so worn out, it was skipping!
We bought this album for my daughter because I was getting tired of singing the full version of "Circle Game" before bed every night. She loves this CD so much that she has listened to it every night and every naptime for almost a year. Last night, our CD started skipping during "Beautiful Boy" and my daughter was very upset, so now I have to buy her a new one. Definitely a good one for anybody's music collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!
Bought this because my six-year-old son and I sing Beautiful Boy together, but what a wonderful treasure trove of lovely music!! We listen to this in the car; I listen to it all the time, even without my son. Planning on giving this to all of the new parents I know and to some who are already parents. I find my self smiling and in a good mood when I listen to this. It's beautiful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet, calming music for parents and children
I buy this CD for every new parent I know. As a new mother, I found both the familiar songs and the ones new to me to be touching, soothing meditations on the art of loving and caring for children. My son was soothed to sleep by John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" many times, and I was calmed by the words and melodies of Judy Collins, Jackson Browne and others on the CD. This is simply a collection of beautiful, sweet (and a few wonderful quirky silly) songs about and for parents and children. Enjoy! ... Read more
