1-0 out of 5 stars Shame on Me!!!
Didn't read the reviews. Shame on me. Shame on Disney. This is nothing more than a CD - there are many fine Disney CD's to pick from. Stock must be really hurting that they have to bite the hand that feeds them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good CD - for what it is!
Yes, I've read some of the other reviews, and no, it's not "really" a karaoke CD,but for a Disney sing-along - this is great. Young and old will enjoy singing with this CD and the words are given in the liner. Get it and enjoy it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Useful info in buying Karaoke CD's
I host a Karaoke show in Nashville. I have never bought Disney Karaoke CD's. However, I will offer you one tip. A lot of people are mislead by "Karaoke Cd". Always read on the disc and make sure it says CD+G on it. I bought some Chartbuster Karaoke CD's that were on clearance for 2.99 each. I thought I had a deal. It was just that-a CD and not a CD+G (Compact disc + graphics). Fortunatly, they took them back and refunded my money. Karaoke CD's are usually just background music.

1-0 out of 5 stars disney karaoke
I am very upset - I bought all three and no onscreen lyrics - why would I buy a karaoke cd without them? I feel that I just wasted 41 dollars.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
You would think that Disney would provide the highest quality product. I purchased Disney Karaoke 1-4 at Disneyland, thinking I would get "the real thing." Well, their vocal demonstration tracks were NOT the original songs but were sung by others, and the words are only printed on an inside liner, not embedded in the discs. In other words, these are just song and music discs with no graphics at all. You can play them in a karaoke machine and you might as well be playing them in a regular CD player. If you plan on singing these songs, either memorize the words or carry the cumbersome songbook wherever you go. Not worth it. ... Read more

In the sometimes-twisted world of cartoons, Brak seems to fall someplace between Ren & Stimpy and South Park. Not quite as gross as the former and nowhere near as foul-mouthed as the latter, Valdemar H. Guerta (a.k.a. Brak) climbed to stardom on the back--or slippery ether--of his costar Space Ghost. Now the Brakster has gathered some truly unusual (and unexpected) guests for his first album. Like an audio nightmare cartoon gross-out of the skull, The Brak Album trots out many of his most obese obsessions: "Rock Candy" (great for causing cavities, as Brak duly points out), "Magic Toenail," "Big Fat Squid," "We Like Girls," and... well, you get the picture. Ireland's Chieftains appear here with "I'll Tell Me Ma," while WCW World Heavyweight wrestler Diamond Dallas Page does a cameo with "Evil Is Only Skin Deep." But it's Freddie Prinze Jr. on "Highway 40" who seems an even odder special guest than the Irish minstrels and the canvas crusher. Throw in the Brakettes and a backing band eager to funk it up and you've got a kids' record that redefines "weird" for today's Brakhead (and tomorrow's next generation of good, all-American citizens).--Martin Keller ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Brak Makes a Really Cool Album!
Hey, everybuddy! I love Brak a lot and his new album, "Brak Presents the Brak Album Starring Brak" is awesome. I first heard of Brak way back in '94 on Space Ghost Coast to Coast. I would watch Cartoon Planet all the time until it went off the air. I've gotta say this album is a lot better than the first two Space Ghost albums, which I have. I love the two shows that Brak did in Feb. and Mar. for this album. This is one of my favorite albums ever! I love the opener, "Really Cool Song". A track a blast a lot on the CD player is Zorak's "Smell You Later", although referring to Brak as 'too ugly for TV'. A great track, "I've Got You Under My Drawers", is one of the best Brak songs I ever heard. "We Like Girls" is also great, especially the video when they blur out Zorak's birthday suit! "Ohio" has become a favorite of mine the first time I heard it. "I Like Hubcaps" is awesome. Especially the 'fallin' on my head' part. I love the remake of "I Love You, Baby" with Monica which should have been on the album. The duets, "Highway 40" with Freddie Prinze, Jr., "I'll Tell Me Ma" with The Chieftains, and "Evil Is Only Skin Deep" with DDP, are all cool. The skits are also wonderful. My favorite ones are "Count Brakula" and "Cowboy Buddy". Another one I love from Part 2 is "The Umpire Strikes Brak", where Brak wears a jersey that says 'My Sox'. The last two pix on here is the awesome "Rock Candy" and the backwards "Soup on a Stick". Great for all occasions! My fellow brak lovers, this album is for you!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Space Ghost-Related Album Yet!
THIS CD IS BETTER THAN A COLD BEER ON A HOT X'MAS MORNING!! I think this is the best SGC2C-related albums, probably due to the fact that it starred lil' ol' Brak. My favorite tracks are "I'll Tell Me Ma", "Really Cool Song", "Smell Ya' Later/Getta Job", "I've Got You Under My Drawers", and "Rock Candy". The funniest one is probably "We're Buds", because instead of having Jo Dee Messina sing with Brak, he sang the girl part, too. I highly reccommend this CD to any SGC2C, Cartoon Planet, or Brak & Zorak fan.

P.S.

In the foreword by Brak, he reveals his REAL name to be Voldemar H. Guerta.(FWI)

5-0 out of 5 stars BRAK IS A BONAFIDE CURE FOR DEPRESSION!
I don't use that title lightly. I inherited my Dad's chemical depression. I fought it for years, with happy-drug this and vitamin-that, and everything you can think of. One day a local radio show here in St. Louis (Dave Glover Show, 97.1Talk) played "Soup On A Stick" during rush hour while I was on my way home from work. My car almost went off the road halfway through the song with the line "But that's another Stow-ey!!" The next day the same show played "Things That I Like", and I was in almost in tears. I knew of the Brak Show, and had even seen it once or twice. But I had no idea of the real POWER OF BRAK! I went out and bought this CD and ever since then I have been infectiously singing, humming, or tapping it - and have been SMILING!! LAUGHING!! So far: Depression Drugs - 2 / Brak - 10!!! And no, I'm not making this up. I challenge any depressed person to frown while this thing is playing!!! It's IMPOSSIBLE! So go dip your pig in butter, ride it 'round the playground, and join Brak & I on a trip into forgotten memory, because when you are with Brakky, you are 4 years old again - and none of that adult stress crud has scarred you yet!! Enjoy with big smiles and lemonade! My little girl sings along too, she loves it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Brak Finally Gets His Own Album!
The majority of fans would agree Brak is the star on the 2 Space Ghost albums. Cartoon Network has noticed and has given us an album from everyone's favorite space cat thing? If you liked the Space Ghost albums or enjoyed Brak's songs off Cartoon Planet then you can't go wrong with this album. A must have for all Brak fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brak is great!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars What a series, what a concept!
I stumbled on this CD at Borders and was I shocked how good it (and the others I bought) were. I thought they would be a nice change from the silly lullaby CDs that most of us know and was I amazed at how sophisticated they all were. I have Brazil, Cuban and Mother Earth and "this ain't kids music"....Two of them are still in my car.....

5-0 out of 5 stars A real winner!
I agree with the positive reviews written for this CD. I got Brazilian Lullaby and Latin Lullaby for my son when he was about 2 months old, he's 4 months now. When he gets sleepy, I put him on the swing or slow dance with him to the music on this CD and he drifts off. He'll even smile at me when I sing along to some of the songs while bathing him or changing his diapers. I'm glad I got this CD.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lullabies That Lift Language Barriers
Initially, I bought this CD for myself because I was looking for Brazilian music that would be soothing & calming. I also wanted to hear a Brazilian flavor in some lullabies. Even though I haven't been to Brazil nor do I speak Portuguese, I DO love listening to this CD. The selections are very diverse & sound as tho' they were chosen from a variety of Brazilian cultures.
When I first heard it, I thought that a couple of selections seemed like they'd wake-up a baby rather than soothe it to sleep.
I've given a copy for a baby shower gift, as the Burbank-based
daddy grew up in Brazil. I've also given one to a Bay Area-based
mom who's 30ish daughter is living with indigenous Indians in Brazil. This music helps her to feel closer to her "child", whom
she misses very much.

5-0 out of 5 stars You Won't Get Sick of This One
We've been listening to this one every night for 16months, and we still love it. The music is beautiful, not cloying or sweet. And maybe it's just because we don't understand the lyrics, but it doesnt' get tiresome or seem condescending like so much children's music does. Not every song is a winner - there's one that's slightly annoying -- but basically, this is music I'd listen to even if I didn't have twins. Plus, as soon as it goes on my kids start nodding off. Maybe it's just a Pavlovian response, but hey, whatever works!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Music!
I bought this CD because I am Portuguese and I was looking for music for children in my language. This was much greater than I expected! The music and lyrics are beautiful and you really don't have to understand Portuguese to fall in love with this master piece. I also recommend this CD to adults because I truly believe that this music breaks any age, cultural, and linguistic barriers. The Portuguese, Brazilian, and Afro-Portuguese cultures are extremely rich in History, Music, and Literature. This is an example of such majesty! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Disney Fan
This is a GREAT album! It's a must-buy! I laughed and laughed. If you want to get your kids to take a bath, turn on the song "The Good News Is....you're gonna take a bath," and that will get them going! It's a rock-and-roll ditty which will make your kids' daily bathing ritual a lot more fun! I highly recommend this very cute album. As usual, it's Disney and it's first rate!

5-0 out of 5 stars My daughters LOVE this CD
This is packed with great songs. Maybe it's just the memories we have singing along with these for the past few years, but this has definitely been the favorite thing to pop in the car or stereo at home for my daughters. We wore the tape out completely, so I was very happy to find it here on CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars More silly songs
This tape is great. We keep it in the van and my four children (age 4-13) listen (and sing loudly) to it regularly as we are driving down the road. Little Red Riding Hood is very cleverly done, and Sunny Sunny Day is wonderful. Most songs are sing-a-long songs, with only one or two that we really don't like.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very funny album
I bought this album for my daughter when she was two years old and we've been listening to it ever since. Several of the songs, "Does your chewing gum loose its flavor," "Purple People Eater" appear in other albums as well, but this album, in my opinion, has the best rendition of these songs. "It's a Sunny Sunny Day" is hilarious. I had to buy the album again because the first one got damaged by our car stereo.

1-0 out of 5 stars Yikes! At least a 9 on the parent irritation scale.
I bought this CD for our 12-month-old son. He's not too interested in it. I think it would appeal more to the 3-6 year old crowd.

Not only that, but the songs are pretty irritating. In fact, I've put it on about 3 times, but have never been able to bear listening to the whole thing. By the time it gets to The Spectrum Song, which is sung in a German accent with a lot of unnecessarily rolled R's, I'm ready to switch to something else. If you want a cute kid's album with silly songs, get John Lithgow's "Singin' in the Bathtub." I sing those songs to myself when I'm at work! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!
I had gotten this CD really on a lark not knowing anything about it. I was searching for a song to dance with my father to at my wedding. I had a tough time chosing from 5 different songs!! I could not believe how beautiful SO MANY of the songs were. When my father and I danced to Safe in Your Daddy's Arms there was not a dry eye in the house! Well, worth every penny and thensome! It also has some of the best lyrics and melodies I have ever heard for lullaby's.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful cd!
This is the most beautiful cd I ever heard. Its perfect for the little ones and their parents. I have no children yet, but I will save this one especially for them.

5-0 out of 5 stars calming ans soothing, a must for every family.
Every family should own this CD. It is just the best you can get. A real must for every new and old family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Music to Give Birth By!
This is SUCH a great collection! I listened to it while in labor with my son and for days in the hospital afterwards. It is so quiet and calming, even for a new mommy. It is truly a must-have for babies and new moms alike. I love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This has become my favorite CD
I heard this CD while riding in a friend's car. I had to find out what it was. The songs just tug at your heartstrings. You will find yourself smiling or crying as the words of the songs remind you of the relationship with your Daddy or your children. This doesn't have to be just for those who have children. This is my favorite CD, and I don't have children. In fact, I am going to use one of the songs in my wedding. It is a great CD to listen to relax and forget the cares of the day. ... Read more

This compilation of singing and dancing ditties will brighten even the grayest day! A rousing version of "Iko Iko" by Sebastian the Crab followed by the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Yertle the Turtle" set the pace for this happy, upbeat album. After taking a few moments to catch your breath with classics "Inchworm" (by Victoria Jackson) and Kenny Loggins's "All the Pretty Ponies," you'll be ready to two-step with Buckwheat Zydeco's "Choo Choo Boogaloo." Whether it's ring-ring-ringing with Raffi's Bananaphone or twirling with Thumbelina, the wide selection of musical styles offers enough variety to be a sure hit with all the members of your family. --Deborah Moore ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Not droll or difficult for adult ears.
What a great CD! I have the first one and like this one just as much if not more (haven't heard it 100+ times yet) The CD I have is in such poor shape I decided to shop for a new one. Highly recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic fun!
My 3-year-old son absolutely loves this CD. I got it on a whim, because it's hard to find good kids' music. Luckily, this one's a winner. In fact, all the "Child's Celebration" CDs are worth a listen. We dance to this one almost every night.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the orginal...
The songs on this CD were okay, but we prefered the first CD, Celebration of Song. Two of the songs on this CD were good, especially Inchworm. However, one tune was rap...and we didn't like it at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars fast-paced musical fun
This is a great album (we have the cassette version). Appealing to both kids and parents, it's a fun mix of silly, upbeat songs (Choo Choo Boogaloo and Bananaphone) and slower, more sentimental tunes (Inchworm, All the Pretty Little Ponies) that stay with you long after you're finished listening. My 7-month-old loves it, and he's patient enough to let me listen to it over and over again! It's kids stuff with a sophisticated twist. I'd also recommend the Music For Little People Lullaby Album, it's super-sweet and the mix of songs is really unique. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Gospel Songs for Kids - By Kids
We got this CD for my daughter when she was about 6 months old. We really like it, but more importantly she really likes it. It's great to look in the rear view mirror and see her kicking her feet with the music.

A couple of the songs are different from the versions I learned in Sunday School so many years ago, but overall this is a good collection. We are very pleased with it, as is our little girl. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful CD for your nursery!
As a first time parent I want to give my child every advantage I can. Studies have shown that playing music to your child helps to enhance their learning ability.

I saw "Baby's First" cd series and as they were so affordable I decided to go ahead and buy them without hearing them first.

My decision has been rewarded! The cd's are very good, and provide hours of music to stimulate my babies mind.

Buy this CD today, you won't be disappointed, and neither will your youngsters! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Thrilling
An amazing CD for an amazing Musical! 'MOZART!' contains fantastic music and great protagonists (Yngve Gasoy Romdal, Uwe Kroeger, Ruth Brauer, Thomas Borchert, Caroline Vasicek, Eva Maria Marold & Lenneke Willemsen) in fantastic quality. See Mozart in a different light. A new musical of the 'Elisabeth'-Team Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze in Vienna.

5-0 out of 5 stars very nice professionally done CD
As the previous reviewer said, this CD is done in a very professional way. The songs are beautiful. Styles are varied. I like it so mcuh that I am going to buy it. I borrowed it from a public library and used it as a teaching tool for the pre school kids. With a little creativity, you can use the slow version of the songs very well. Since all the songs are slower, you can teach kids sign languages and other things, you can even ask them what's the different about the different versions of a song.

5-0 out of 5 stars My kids loved it!!!
This is the most unique children's music CD I have come across in a long time!I originally bought the CD for my 4 year old but found my older child enjoying it as well. Then I was pleasantly surprised to hear my 2 year old picking up on the words and singing the songs after only listening to it for about one week. While I understand (from reading the packaging) that this CD assists children who have difficulty with speech (mine do not), I found it to be beneficial to young children in general. We especially like the different beats and variations on songs. Our favorite was the ethnic flair in "if you're happy and you know it"!

I have already bought seven more and given them as gifts to new parents and preschool teachers for holiday gifts.I have gotten nothing but ovewhelming thanks and appreciation from recipients.I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to introduce or reinforce their child's love of music.

4-0 out of 5 stars Speech Pathology/ apraxia of speech helping tool?
I was given this CD by a friend who performs on it.According to the liner notes, it was developed with help from a Speech Pathologist who was having trouble finding children's music that could facilitate speech. It may be the only one of it's kind, I don't know.Parents of children with speech delays might find this CD helpful. This CD should really be marketed for that purpose.
First of all, the musicians and singers on this CD aren't the run-of the-mill, like so many children's cds. They are a professional musicians and singers. The versions of the songs are a bit unusual to listen to- because the tempos have been slowed down, way down. Unfortunately, you can't listen to samples of the songs on Amazon.
Below I describe how I fell each selection sounds:
1)wheels- beautiful voice, sounds like something from Kindermusik collection.
2)Aiken Drum- Western style.I suppose you could do the ASL signs for spaghetti, meat ball, cheese, and Pizza to it easily
3)I love You- soft and slow, not like Barney version
4)Shake your Sillies- Because of the slow tempo, this song doesn't click, shaking "slowly" doesn't seem to feel right.Nancy Cassidy's version is probably the best I have heard, they should have left this off the cd because it just sounds strange.
5)1,2 Buckle...-counting w/ music, you could do gestures/home signs for this.
6)Teensy weensy spider- This reminded me a lot of the songs on the Storytelling CD from Songs for Learning collection from Newbridge Publishing.Soft, sweet and slow
7)Hokey Pokey- left and right, good instrumentalists
8)Wibbly Wobbly-I understand where the Speech Pathologist is going with this, but it is very heavy on the Pittsburgh accent.Bobby is now Baw-bee, Tommy is now Tawh-mee.
9)Alphabet- traditional
10)Jack n Jill-Great voice, reminds me of Kindermusik CD which are good
11)Twinkle- traditional, pretty sounding
12)Happy and Know it-This is not a jump around version. It is a sit down with mom and dad and let's go over you sounds song.carribean style, beautiful instruments and voices. Probably helpful to very little ones w/ speech delay.
13)Baby Bumblebee- big on the rhyming, verses I hadn't before heard, but kids might enjoy laughing along with.Tango style.
14)Pop! Goes...This reminded me of Burnadette Peters.Body part ID, left/ Right
15)I'm a teapot-Great big male voice, lots of strings
16)Bingo- I know the purpose of this CD is to SLOW down the tempo, but this lacks the energy to keep children interest. There is so much time between letters, they forget what they were spelling.
17)You are Special- Ode to Fred Rogers.Neighbor Aber can hold his own.I personally believe if anyone is going to fill Mr. Roger's sneakers, it is going to be him.
18)Apples and Bananas-Has a slow tempo- this song could actually have Cued Speech done to go along with it.Which could be a tool to learning all of the vowel hand positions of cued speech.
19)5 little Frogs-perfect fromation of syllables, #'s , use of adjectives
20)Old McD-latin style, upbeat
21)Mr Sun-Probably the all time best version of this song I have heard. The singer and musicians are excellent.
22)Head and Tummy-Good sit on mom and dad's lap and do together song.
23)10 Little Indians-I thought the PC police outlawed songs like this. It's a chant with counting. They could have said "crayons" instead of indians. The music behind the singing is however very good. The singer sounds a lot like Tom Green, sorry!
24)5 Little Monkeys-chant- good background music
25)Sing!- Sesame Street song, nice.Good wrap up of CD.

I know that some of Pittsburgh's most talented went in on this CD.I really think it suits it's purpose well in helping children separate the speech sounds, but the Speech Pathologist really should have had some one else sing the selections he sang. The musicans and trained talented singers make this CD.

Finally, I tried to use this in a preschool setting and it really didn't work out.It is much better suited to at home listening.I am not a speech patologist, but I know children well.I hope this CD benefits the families it is geared toward. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fine, but really check out Angels All Around
There's nothing really wrong with this disc but Genie Nilsson's Angels All Around is so much better in every respect except a couple of extra dollars that there's really no comparison.

5-0 out of 5 stars lullaby cassette
My son is 21 months old and goes to sleep with this tape every night. I started listening to it while I was pregnant with him. I'm ordering my second copy now because the cassette is really worn out and warbley. He loves it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lullabies
I am purchasing the CD because I have had a tape for over four years now that has been played almost daily. I use it to rock my daughter to sleep. She calls it "The Lady."

She's really old enough to go to sleep on her own, but she enjoys me singing with the beautiful songs. The lyrics emphasize the love between a mother and child, are soothing, and are so peaceful. The time we spend rocking with these lullabies has become a special time of closeness.

The singer has a beautiful voice. The tracks also include an instrumental version of each song. ... Read more

This is the most comprehensive of Disney collections, though the Classic Disney series is more up to date. Spread across three discs, the set features hits and forgotten favorites from movies, TV, and the parks (although more thorough work remains to be done in the last regard). Since the Disney catalog is in a state of constant change, this is the only place to get some songs that aren't currently available; these days it's a rare treat to hear "Cruella De Vil" from 101 Dalmations, "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah," from Song of the South, and Annette's theme from The Monkey's Uncle. A thick CD booklet is included, putting the songs in the context of Walt Disney's long, astounding career. --John Sanchez ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Dinsey Collection
This expansive and detailed collection of Disney music is the best out there. I've had mine since it came out in 1991, and I can't tell you how many times I've played each of it's three CD's!

CD 1 starts off with the first Disney song in a cartoon, 'Turkey in the Straw' from Steamboat Willie and travels through the years (and 27 tracks) to The Sword and the Stone with 'Higitus Figitus'. Along the way films such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, Melody Time, Song of the South, Treasure Island and Sleeping Beauty are covered.

CD 2 picks things up in 1962 with 'Supercalifraglisticexpialidocious', and runs through 20 tracks to 1991's 'Beauty and the Beast'. No rare songs are included on this disc, but a song or two from each animated film made in this time period is nothing to balk at.

CD 3 heads in a new direction (that of live action, cartoon series and the Theme Parks) and serves up many gems and rarely heard recordings. Some of the 31 tracks included are; 'Enjoy It', 'The Ballad of Davy Crockett', 'Mister Piano Man' sung by Annette Funicello, the 'DuckTales Theme', 'Meet Me Down on Main Street', and the entire score for the 'Main Street Electrical Light Parade'!

This set goes one step further by including a 60-page book that illustrates with words, and many full color pictures, Disney's musical legacy and packs it in a record sized keep-sake box. Much of the information in the book is enlightening and it does a superb job of giving backstory to the creation of the songs included. I've refrenced it many times and have always found it helpful.

Yes, this set doesn't include songs from Toy Story, Tarzan or any of the more recent Disney offerings, but remember it was made in 1991. No matter though, over 10 years later, it's still the best and most comprehensive collection to date and believe me, I have enough Disney recordings to know! It's IMPOSSIBLE to be disappointed by this collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!!
I take a trip to DIsney World Florida every year and before this latest trip I got this CD set. It is great!! I LOVE IT!!

4-0 out of 5 stars A must have for Disney Freaks!
This is by far my favorite of Disney Albums. If I could have designed it I would have made the first disc 100% animation, the second for live action and TV, and the third music from the parks.

The only reason that the score isn't higher is because I would have liked to have more music from the parks.

That aside, this is a great addition to the CD collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Jewel in the Crown of Disney Music
The Music of Disney: A Legacy In Song is one of the strongest complilations of Disney music to date. The box set offers a sampling of timeless classics such as It's A Small World (After All), Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah and Someday My Prince Will Come. Not to be missed are some lesser known treasures including The Swamp Fox and Fortuosity. The box set features songs from theme park attractions, animated movies and cartoon shorts. With seventy-seven songs to choose from children and adults alike will be entertained for over twenty hours. The arrangement of songs also adds to the uniqueness of The Music of Disney: A Legacy In Song. Medolies of songs are arranged to compliment each other. Theme park songs are arranged fairly close together to allow an even flow throughout the cd. You will find no choppy arrangements in this compilation. Another feature that impressed me was the value of the box set. With the typical cd ranging from $12.99 to $18.99 for ten songs, it is a great valu! e to find almost eighty songs for about forty dollars. The title of this piece is correct in its wording of "A Legacy In Song." It indeed serves as a timeline of Disney music. I highly recommend The Music of Disney: A Legacy In Song to children of all ages. Its a way to bring home the magic of Disney into your own living room. ... Read more

A Child's Celebration of Broadway is a tasteful treat for grownups and almost-grownups in addition to being the typically kid-friendly fare brought to the listener by Music for Little People. The classy compilation, rather than being made up of chirpy, dumbed-down renditions, is composed of music from the original cast recordings of such beloved shows as Oklahoma!, The Music Man, and The Sound of Music. Mary Martin brightly sparkles, singing numbers from both Annie Get Your Gun and Peter Pan, and the ever dear Julie Andrews contributes a duo as well, including the classic "The Lonely Goatherd" from The Sound of Music. With a particularly heavy emphasis on Rodgers and Hammerstein, noted composers in absence are Rodgers and Hart, Sondheim, and Porter. While by no means a complete collection, A Child's Celebration of Broadway is a perfectly sound starting point for little divas and future showboats. --Paige La Grone ... Read more

omg, I love this CD, I listen to it all the time! I don't know why it's called a 'child's' celebration of broadway, when it's really for everyone! My fav songs are come Follow the Band and You've Gotta Have Heart.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous music for kids!
I love this CD and listen to it even when my toddler isn't around. Mary Martin's version of 'I Got the Sun in the Morning and the Moon at Night' is just fantastic. It's the kind of music you WANT your kids to grow up listening to! Listen to all the Music for Little People CDs ... you can't go wrong with them.

Arthur the Aardvark, of author Marc Brown's creation and of the Emmy Award-winning cartoon series, descends into his basement to make a home recording with the aid of his best buddies: bossy Francine, precocious D.W., and other favorites from the program. Many songs are instantly recognizable from the show, including the popular reggae-inflected theme song, performed by Ziggy Marley. Also on hand are songs from the 1998-1999 season, such as Art Garfunkel's "The Ballad of Baxter Bunny." Arthur and his friends reinforce positive messages: respect for self and others, creativity, open-mindedness, and a deep-rooted sense of fun. Moreover, little ears are exposed to a wide variety of rockin' music styles, from rap to a cappella doo-wop, glam rock to folk, and the wonky, kiddie indie rock of D.W.'s favorite song, "Crazy Bus." --Paige La Grone ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Arthur is the best show ever!
Okay, you may think I'm crazy, but I'm 19 years old and I LOVE Arthur! The show is so funny, even my mother laughs out loud when she watches it. I always sing along to the theme song and I can't get enough of the song "Crazy Bus"! The songs aren't sappy sweet or lame like a lot of other kids' songs. This CD is great! Any music fan should buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great supplement to the TV show
We're big Arthur fans... the show is very clever and appeals to children of all ages. This CD is no exception. The tunes incorporate various musical styles (including classical, 50s doo-wop, and even Broadway musical!), and the lyrics are very catchy and clever, not the treacle-y stuff that usually passes for Children's Music. Fans of the show will recognize either the tunes themselves or the specific episodes to which they refer. Most importantly, this is an album to which I am willing to listen to over and over in the car... and sometimes even when my 4-year old isn't with me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great CD to listen to in the car: over and over again.
We first borrowed this CD from the library. My 3-yr old and I loved it so much that we bought it. Every song is from an episode of Arthur. I find the cartoon hilarious and full of adult humor. Hearing the songs reminds me of the episodes and I laugh. From Binky's night light song to The Brain's Jeckle and Hyde song to Arthur's dad's song about strange food combinations, this CD will keep your ears wanting to hear more!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gotta Love Arthur!
We first discovered this CD at our local library and LOVED it. If you're an Arthur fan (and who isn't?), this is a must have. All the songs and storylines from your favorite show. Not a bad track on the CD (if you don't count "Crazy Bus"). Buy it, you'll love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Fun!
If you love the show "Arthur", you'll love this cd. My son and I watch the show almost every day and we really have fun listening to the cd in the car on the way to and from school. It's upbeat, funny, silly, and all our favorite songs were on it from the show. The "Library Card" song is my favorite! I know you'll love it...give it a try! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Who is this singing anyway?
This CD was a big disappointment. I was hoping for the REAL renditions for my child's birthday party, and BOY, while these are the real words, and sung in tune by adults, they are not the songs I remember listening to. (At least they are sung in tune, although there is not a drop of passion in it.)

Perhaps I can get my money's worth out by hanging it outside to scare the crows away.

2-0 out of 5 stars Hmm.
These songs are definately for younger kids, but not even six year olds, younger. I do like "Achy Breaky Heart"Okay and I like"Hands Up" Alot, but most of it is for young kids. Good-bye.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kid Tested, Mother Approved
Young kids really do dig this CD, and the bonus is that parents can tolerate it pretty well also, often even singing along. You wouldn't want to hear it every day, but it's a great choice for birthday parties. Though if your kid is old enough to worry about being cool, this probably isn't the CD for you. LOL

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids love it
My kids love it. I only wish the music was by the original artists. ( I know, what do you want for a cheap price and an item targeted for kids...)

4-0 out of 5 stars Simply Mad about this CD!
If you like reworkings of favorite Disney songs this collection is for you. It originally came out in 1991, but sounds as wonderful as ever! In fact I'm still listening to my copy. The songs on this collection I like, I really, REALLY like and the ones I don't care for I really, REALLY hate. Fortunately there are only two of the latter, Billy Joel's "When You Wish Upon A Star" (much too gruff sounding) and Michael Bolton's "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" (as usual way too whiny for me). However the rest of the CD is truly inspired. The En Vogue medley of "Someday My Prince Will Come" and "One Song" accentuates the longing in the songs to great effect. The big band version of "Bare Necessities" by Harry Conick Jr. is terrific as is the ethereal "Siamese Cat Song" by Bobby McFerrin. LL Cool J, The Gypsy Kings and Ric Ocasek (from the Cars) just make you want to get up and groove with their songs.

Really, I can't think of a reason not to own this recording, especially when you consider the rock bottom price. Yes there are a few songs that don't work but I'm certain you'll enjoy the majority of these remakes. If your even a smidgen mad about the Mouse, you'll be mad about this Cd as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars This music is wonderful.
I grew up listening to these songs and to hear them redone in this way was wonderful. Every time I hear these songs, they take me back to various points in my childhood. More CD's of this caliber needs to be done. Way to go, Disney!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Simply not as good as 'Stay Awake'.
While this album has its amusing moments, it cannot live up to its predecessor, 'Stay Awake'. While the selections of songs performed include favorites such as 'Kiss the Girl' and 'The Bare Necessities', the interpretations presented by the various artists lack inspiration. Not an album for the collector of any of the individual artists to pass up, but also not one to worry about missing from the collection.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great takes on familiar songs, fun to dance with your child
This Cd is great fun! The songs are familiar but with a fresh twist. The spanish version of "Got no strings" by the Gypsy Kings is wonderful, as is the big band version of "Bare Necessities" by Harry Connick Jr. We love to dance wildly to the rap version of "Whose Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" by L.L. Cool J. Great for all ages!! ... Read more

The thesis that a child's brain can grow from listening to music is inarguable. The science is somewhat simple: for kids hearing music, the real meal of the sound is its connections and structures, both of which teach the brain how to organize phenomena. Johann Sebastian Bach's music is a stunning study in this regard, thanks at certain points to his keenly built, pristinely laid out musical architecture and at other times to the mix of intricate detail and delicate gloss. With this collection, drawn from Columbia Records' vast vaults, you get the best of the gentle scenarios, beginning with "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" and extending to E. Powers Biggs's breathy organ on "Be Thou Art Near." Firecrackers pop a little more cracklingly as Lutz Kirchhof performs a pair of lute suites and Anthony Newman takes on a pair of the famed Goldberg Variations on harpsichord. At its most upbeat, this collection is still reserved and cautious, exciting enough to grab attention but not so much that the music takes over as its own isolated activity. It's strong but still fits nicely into one's routine. And even if a segment on this 78-minute disc isn't to your child's liking, it's easy to move on, as most episodes last less than 3 minutes. --Andrew Bartlett ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars For those young [at heart]
Years ago, I purchased this album, being a fan of all things Winnie-the-Pooh.

Although I enjoy the lyrics from the Disney series and movies, I do not agree with some of the interpretations. I most enjoyed the performances by The Chieftans, however!
