Musically, it's quite sophisticated folk music that most adults will enjoy juts a smuch as the kids. The thing I really appreciate is that Zanes doesn't dumb it down for the kids. Oh and yea, guests include people like Lou Reed and the brillian Pappa Goose (who you just have to see live to appreciate fully) are a treat. You won't be disappointed.
Let me reiterate our enthusiasm by saying: 1. this is the best kids cd ever made (we have dozens); 2. all Danny Z. CDs are fun for the whole family (if you can get certain songs out of mind); 3. we have changed our answering machine message several times in the past year and always default to a Danny Z. song in the background (if only for a lick or two); 4. we just ordered 9 copies for all our friends who recently announced a birth! How's that for a ringing endorsement. Have fun, Paul Klein, SF California

The Spanish is easy to understand and should prove popular in classrooms. Having listened to this album, I want to check out his ten-volume "Lirica Infantil. One final word: you may also want to get the accompanying book.

The only (minor) thing I don't like is that in the song, "Triplets," they say "...and we hate each other very much, we hate our folks, we are sick of jokes and what an art it is to tell us apart!" It's all said very quickly and in fun, but "hate" isn't a concept I'd like my kids to think is acceptable. We skip this song when we listen. Overall, I highly recommend this CD. It's high quality--the music, the lyrics, and the energetic John Lithgow make it our top pick during a car ride (with the Bear in the Big Blue House Soundtrack coming in a close second). It's not for those who are looking for a soft lullaby, but if you want music as energetic and fun as your toddler, this is it.

Album Description With Shaina Noll on lead and harmony vocals, New Age keyboard artist Jim Oliver produced and contributed instrumentally to many of the tracks. Rusty Crutcher, best known for his "Sacred Sites" series of albums, plays saxophone on "Deep Peace". Shaina's husband, Richard, contributes harmony vocals and recorder tracks. Songwriters Cris Williamson, Libby Roderick, Susan McCullen and Bill Douglas are among those whose songs are featured on the album along with Shaina's composition, "Peace Be With You". Lyrics include: "How could anyone ever tell you you were anything less than beautiful...how could anyone ever tell you you were less than whole...how could anyone fail to notice that your loving is a miracle...how deeply you're connected to my soul..." "You can relax now...you are the child of God, and that will never change" "Peace be with you, oh my dear one...peace be with you, precious child...angels hover all about you, they protect you, night and day...angels over all about you, they will guide you on your way..." "Deep peace of the running wave to you, deep peace of the flowing air to you, deep peace of the gentle night to you, moon and stars pour their healing light on you..." Reviews (29)

1. Welcome - Jump 5 Um... I'm not a big fan of Jump 5 and I don't think they really have musicial talent so I didn't really enjoy this song Rating: 1.5/5 2. True To Your Heart - Raven This is song is good, Raven definetly has a good voice Rating: 4.5/5 3. It's A Small World - Baha Men I hate this song! I love the original song but when the Baha Men sing it it's really really bad. Rating: 1/5 4. He's A Tramp - The Beu Sisters Didn't really like this one... not all that great Rating: 2/5 5. Zip A Dee Doo Dah - Stevie Brock My favorite song on the album! Stevie Brock is so cute in this song. It's a great remake. You should buy Stevie's debut album in stores now. He's an awesome singer. Rating: 5/5 6. The Siamese Cat Song - Hilary & Haylie Duff This song is so horrible. They both cannot sing if they wanted to. The song is very annoying. Rating: 1/5 7. Circle Of Life - Disney Channel Circle Of Stars Good song... good vocals... I like it Rating: 4.5/5 8. A Whole New World - LMNT Ehh... not the best song in the world... it could definetly be better with better vocal range Rating: 2/5 9. Once Upon Another Dream - No Secrets 4 words: It could be better. 1. Welcome (Brother Bear)-Jump5. I like it. It has a modern beat to it. And I loved hearing part on it on "Brother Bear." But still, I don't know if Jump5 had the voices to sing it, and the lyrics are okay. 4/5 2. True to Your Heart (Mulan)-Raven. Now, I love this one! Raven adds a classy and modern voice to this song from the popular movie. I love the beat, and I think you will too. 5/5 3. It's a Small World-Baha Men. The song is for Disneyland, not from a movie. I didn't really like the beat, but how can you NOT like a Baha Men song? I like to dancing to it though. 4/5 4. He's a Tramp (Lady and the Tramp)-the Beu Sisters. There's a lead singer that sings most of the lyrics, and she has the voice for it. It's hard to describe, but her voice fits the song perfectly! And some of the things said it the background made me laugh. I love this song! 5/5 5. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah (Song of the South)-Stevie Brock. I thought Stevie would do better. My least favorite song on this CD. I really didn't understand what he was saying, and I don't think you would either. The beat is good for little childeren to dance to though. 2/5 6. The Siamese Cat Song (Lady and the Tramp)-Hilary and Haylie Duff. Usually, I don't like Hilary Duff songs, but in this song (co-performed by her older sister) she really shines. And sisters are perfect for it, because of the end. I really liked listening to it, and I bet you will too. 5/5 7. Circle of Life (The Lion King)-Disney Channel Circle of Stars.(Orlando Brown, Hilary Duff, Tahj Mowry, Kyla Pratt, Raven, Christy Carlson Romano, AJ Trauth, and Anneliese van der Pol) This song is really touching. It brought me back to when I first saw it in 1997 (or somewhere around there) with my late Grandpa. The beat, lyrics, voice, everything, is perfect. If you listen to one song on the CD, it should be this. 5/5 8. A Whole New World (Aladdin)-LMNT. I don't think the voices really fitted the song. And the beat was different. I liked the original better. 3/5 9. One Another Dream (Sleeping Beauty)-no secrets. I really like the beat and the voices for the song was really good. Great to dance to. I sing along to it all the time. 4/5 10. Anytime You Need a Friend (Home on the Range)-the Beu Sisters. They did it again! Great song. I like song and the style of the song it great. I love this song. 5/5 11. The Second Star to the Right (Peter Pam)-Jesse McCartney. I'm a fan of Jesse McCartney, so I wasn't surprised that this song was so good. Jesse's voice is dreamy, and I love it. 5/5 12. When You Wish Upon a Star (Pinocchino)-Ashley Gearing. I never heard of her before, but I will buy her CD and more! WYWUAS is my favorite Disney song, and Ashley made me love it even more. I adore the lyrics and the beat. It brings me back, all right. And I LOVE it. 6(SIX)/5 13. A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes (Cinderella)-Daniel Bedingfield. I love this song. I would like to waltz to it one day. Daniel brings a classic touch to it, and it "spices" up in the middle. 5/5 14. Baroque Hoedown (Disney's Electrical Parade)-They Might Be Giants. Not much voice, just sounds. My brother loves it, I like the beat and style of it too. 4/5 I'm listening to the CD as I write this, so you get exactly what I think of it. This review took me almost 50 minutes, so you can see that I really thought each song over.

I am glad I have it - if only to keep from buying the full soundtracks of all these movies just to get a clean copy of Pat Carroll singing "Poor Unfortunate Souls" (Little Mermaid) or "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" (Aristocats) or Elfman's fabulous "What's This?" (Nightmare Before Christmas). I suspect most folks will do what I did, and buy the CD because a few of the tunes still resonate - and there's plenty of power here for that. The "Siamese Cat Song" certainly isn't great art, but it transports me back to child state - where I feel I'm listening to my scratchy old 45 - quicker than you can say "Fess Parker." I appreciate that the compiler - Ted Kryczko - stuck with Maltin's winning formula of old and new. But his sense of drama and pacing aren't the best. Yes, the Jonatha Brooke and Sarah MacLachlan cuts - featured one and two on the set - are pretty and sweet. I'm sure it's frustrating that these great cuts didn't get heard enough, because the movies were weak. You still don't start with them. Lead with your strengths. Oh yes, the 6-year-old does appreciate it, but prefers volumes 1 and 2. (Nearly forgot my cover, there.)

Something I've noticed over his three CDs is his ability to create a musical world for all ages to appreciate, and his voice carries a level of joy and warmth that wraps around the listener. My 21-month-old loves it, and his father and I do too. All three of his CDs are worth getting--just listen to the samples above. They will make it clear why Ralph's World continues to be the best music for kids and adults around. Keep them coming, Ralph!
My 2 1/2-year-old son loves Ralph's World and will dance to it by spinning in circles until he falls down. My guitar-playing husband admires the music and wordplay and says of Ralph Covert: "He's got some chops." Me, I'm just glad to have some music for the car that my kid and I both enjoy. This stuff's so good, you might forget to turn off the tape when your kid falls asleep in the carseat.
My 14-month-old and I have listened to this CD at least twice a day for the past three months, and I still enjoy it. I can't say this about many CDs, especially not kiddie CDs. In fact, I hesitate to call this a "kiddie CD", since it has enough musical integrity, humor and charm to appeal to adults as well. Best of all, my son loves it, too. At the mention of the word "Ralphie", he excited runs over to the CD player and starts pushing buttons. As soon as he hears the first song, "Happy Lemons", he starts bopping and smiling. It's the best. I highly recommend this CD.
The lyrics are SO much fun to hear - like so many good animated movies, the adults might get the humor on a different level, which is part of why I'll willingly put this on whenever the boys ask for it. This was a gift from some family friends near Chicago, and I mistakenly thought that Ralph was a local artist that we wouldn't be able to find here in NH. I can't tell you how pleased I am to hear that I was wrong - we will be purchasing the other CD's very soon.
Don't even think about it. This is another first-class blast of breezy pop tunes, that if anything touch on more styles of music than before. The pop-smarts are still first rate, and you and your kids will soon have a new crop of melodies rattling around in your heads all day long. Watch out for the last cut though, the beautifully winsome "Riding With No Hands" actually had me in tears. Great stuff, and again, not to be missed. ... Read more

*Listen and move - They tiptoe, run, hop, gallap and laugh their way to some energy release! * The Number rock - In a circle joining hands and yelling and screaming the numbers. Helps to count and recgonize sequencing. Then we all fall to the ground! *The Freeze - they just want to keep freezing (We like to freeze in a really goofy position) *The World is a Rainbow - We have rainbow streamers that children do things with. We ask each child to wave their streamer in a unique way to this song and then everyone copies.
I was impressed by the likeness that much of the record had to recent efforts by Apples In Stereo and many of the Elephant 6 Recording Company groups. For any fans of that ilk, I reccomend this twee pop collection.
The "Good Morning" song is an excellent way to set the mood for the day. I found myself playing it when I needed a boost, as well. "Listen and Move" is excellent for helping children follow directions, develop gross motor skills, and develop a discriminating ear. It was a true joy to watch the children develop their own styles of self-expression while they danced to the songs on this album. This album, far more than any other we had, got the children up, moving, and INVOLVED with the music. With many other children's CDs, I found the children just continued to play with their toys with the music in the background. When I tried to buy my own copy, I discovered the CD was out of production (it's from the 70s). I went out of my way to find a copy and I'm so glad I did. It is on loan to my 3-year-old niece and she fell in love with it instantly. I can't wait to use it with my own children someday. (I also have volume 1, which is good, but not nearly as good as volume 2.)
