4-0 out of 5 stars I feel this CD is one of the best compilation CD's out there
This CD has old skasters and a variety of new bands on the ska scene. From Unsteady to Undercover SKA this CD gets you moving. Real ska fans only though, some may not appreciate some of the o.g. ska beats. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Ska CD in the World
I was lucky enough to see this band live in April 1996, and I picked this CD up at the show! It is great for countless hours of skankin' madness! Check out Pleasure Bribe and Girl Take it Easy for some great examples of tunes. In short, by the damned CD!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best pietasters CD out there!
This is one of the greatest ska CDs available (if not the greatest). The Pietasters showcase incredible talent on this cd, especially found in their slower songs (Tell You Why) and thier party songs (Maggie Mae, Girl Take It Easy, Movin' On Up). While you have to hear these songs live to get the full effect, this CD is damn good by itself. Other classics on the cd: Biblical Sense, Freak Show, Pleasure Bribe, Night Before.

3-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A GOOD
THIS A GOOD CD OTHER THAN THE FACT HE TALKS ABOUT ASSULTING HIS GIRLFRIEND ON ONE OF THE SONGS BUT IT TOOK A FEW LISTENS FOR ME TO GET INTO IT BUT IT IS GOOD

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the Pietasters Best
I am a huge fan of the Pietasters and have had the pleasure of seeing this band live. Although the recording quality of this album is absolutely atrocious it doesn't hold back the pietasters. Almost all of the songs are soulful and really good to sing along too. Not to mention it has Maggie Mae! yeah!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beer Drinkin' Fun !
The Pietasters are totally awesome! I am 15 and went to their concert in DC and I had a great time! They spit beer on the crowd and some fans lit up some fireworks in the middle of the mosh pit! This is definately the band to skank with! Keep Skankin' Baby! ... Read more

One doesn't necessarily associate punk firebrands the Clash with the radio-ready likes of Third Eye Blind and No Doubt. But in the years since the demise of the Clash, their impact, once localized to the punk underground, has seeped up from the gutter they once championed. ("The truth," rasped Joe Strummer in one of his more memorable couplets, "is known only by guttersnipes.") Burning London affords a dozen-plus popular late-'90s performers the opportunity to tip their hats to the erstwhile scourges of the mainstream. The results, as is common with such tributes, are wildly mixed. The highlights here exhibit a less-than-reverent perspective on this timeworn material. Moby and Heather Nova turn "Straight to Hell" into a haunting echo of the Combat Rock prototype, while Cracker's cowpunk trashing of "White Riot" would've sounded at home on an album by frontman David Lowery's great old band, Camper Van Beethoven. On the downside, Indigo Girls' "Clampdown" is an artless revision of one of the Clash's least artful songs, and the likes of Third Eye Blind and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones bring nothing new to "Train in Vain" and "Rudie Can't Fail," respectively. If the featured bands are the draw here, help yourself. But if you're curious about the Clash, the group's bursting-at-the-seams debut and watershed London Calling will serve as superior introductions to a mighty band. --Steven Stolder ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Disapointing, with a few bright spots.
I expected more from this tribute CD, especially considering The Clash's huge influence on much of the Bay Area Punk and new Reggae/Ska rockers of the late 80's/early 90's to today. Unfortunately, this complilation lacks the energy and passion that The Clash were so famous for. Many songs seem sugar-coated and too professional to be Clash tributes (see "Hateful" by No Doubt, "Train in Vain" by Third Eye Blind, and "Lost in the Supermarket" by Afghan Whigs), trading raw emotion for slick production and radio-friendly vocals. Others try too hard to mess with the Clash sound, coming up with songs that just miss the target (such as Silverchair's take on "London's Burning" and the Ice Cube "Should I Stay.." which is by no means a cover, just gangsta rap over a Clash sample). The few bright spots come from bands simply covering the songs they love, and letting their own sound naturally come into play. Highlights are The Urge on "This is Radio Clash," Cracker with an inspired version of "White Riot" complete with fiddle, and a surprisingly good version of "Clampdown" by the Indigo Girls. Of course, the best track of them all is the Rancid version of "Cheat", where Tim Armstrong comes as close as possible to recreating the snarling cockney punk of early 80's Britain. Unless you need this to complete your Clash record collection, I'd suggest staying away and grabbing the best tracks as MP3s. Overall, it's a weak album, and not representative of the power of The Clash and their music.

3-0 out of 5 stars highs and lows
when ur dealing with tribute albums its not likely that ur ever gonna like every song, because if ur a fan of the original band then some other bands just wont do justice to the material. in the clash's case, there are pretty big shoes to fill. high points are the urge - radio clash, 311 - white man in hammersmaith palace. both songs cover well while contributing a little something new. some other songs are either lesser versions of the original or too inovative for its own good. decent buy for clash fans, pick it up.

1-0 out of 5 stars Go Straight to Hell Boys...
Sorry, it's not something personal against the band whose appear on this tribute but...I can't believe they had the courage to do this!, the styles are too much differents, the only reason that this cd has 1 star is because Rancid plays one, they play the only one good song...all other bands should play something into their styles, I'm sure they could make a real good job with other kind of music, but....let the punk rock to the punk rockers.
or do you imagine to Sex Pistols on a Back Streets Boys tribute?

4-0 out of 5 stars Get a Grip
Although I am also fan of Clash, I got so used to all of their songs that sadly enough, I don't listen to Clash anymore. By pure accident I found that CD on a shelf at my local HMV store and bought it. And I have to admit that it's not that bad. Actually I like it quite a lot and " Should I Stay or Should I Go" is probably my favourite track after "Straight to Hell". It is different than Clash, but it gives the old songs new dimention. Definitely recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Covers in Vain.
The problem with tribute albums, is even though they have good intentions, they end up being slammed because they never sound as good as the originals, or the tribute bands make you sick. This is a good example of that. While "Rancid", "Indigo Girls", and "311" all do a fine job, it still just makes you want to listen to "The Clash". Then others like "Third Eye Blind" are just [bad]. I can't see myself listening to this more than twice a year. I would suggest getting "The Essential Clash", the "Singles" collection, or any of their albums before this. "Burning London" is mostly for fanatics. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Jim "Bruce Lee" Park skanks Asian style
One of the pride & joys of my CD collection... this is some of the best ska you can buy. Jim Park, of Skankin' Pickle and the Chinkees, gets together with friends from Less Than Jake and skanks Asian style. Humorous songs like Hongulmamotaya which is Korean for 'I can't speak Korean' and the song Don't Sit Next To Me Just Because I'm Asian are great... plus there's a cover of They Might Be Giants 'She's An Angel'. Also contains bonus tracks... it's a great album!

4-0 out of 5 stars mike park's new band
The Bruce Lee band is the awesome combination of Less than Jake and Skankin' Pickle vocalist (and ska/punk legend) Mike Park! They play catchy ska/punk reminiscent of older Less than Jake, but are unmistakably the product of Mike Park's song writing skills. Most of the songs are ligh-hearted and funny, with a few exceptions ("Brother, brother," "Standing up for Justice.") Basically, if you're a fan of Skankin' Pickle or Less than Jake, then you should definitly buy this. Oh yeah, and there's a ton of hidden stuff too (Less than Jake's cover of the Gilligan theme song and more!)

5-0 out of 5 stars This CD Rocks
If you like punk/ska you will love this CD. It has many great ska songs and then it has a couple of hilarious songs sung by Mike Park to his acoustic guitar. If you like Less than Jake or Skankin' Pickle you will love this CD because the group is composed of the band from Less than Jake and the singer from Skankin' Pickle. This CD dominates and you should buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
K, I have known of this cd for years. But it wasn't til I found out who is in the band that I decided to buy it. Skankin Pickle and LTJ are two of my fav ska bands. I dunno how I didn't know that they got together to do this but I finally got my hands on it. You can totally notice the LTJ style in the guitars and horns. If you like great ska, LTJ, SKankin Pickle, or really great ska in general then definitley buy this.

2-0 out of 5 stars A rather pointless CD
"Bruce Lee Band" has released likely the album that gave AMR (Asian Man Records) a bump in their money-making business. You could mailorder different CD's, and the others are much better. The songs on here are not very good. Lyrics wander off in different directions. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I Know This Band Personally
I cannot tell you how great this band was live! It is to my sorrow I have to say this band broke up a few years ago. They actually put out 7 cd's, their best being this cd and their last, Malltopia (a concept album of a slacker wandering a mall).

On an almost daily basis, I rag on John Taylor to get the band going again. His buddy Bill, the bass player)works with J.T. and a friend of mine, Kurt Sutton (who did a lot of live work with the group) at Neighborhood Lenders in Martinez california.

I am lucky enough to get together with them when they jam. And they still have the magic.

This is one of those bands that totally dominates in live shows. But there is still a certain `sound' on the albums.

it's time to bring them back out. If they don't rejoin, listen, and enjoy. Punk wannabe, with SUPERB lyrics!

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Musicians & Witty Lyricists
With so much wimpy junk being produced today, it's very refreshing to find a new release with so much musical talent combined with great lyrics... sometimes hilarious, sometimes inciteful and touching. I first heard these guys live at a Villa Montalvo concert this summer as the opening act for Chris Isaak. As much as I like Chris (a completely different style), I found I REALLY liked the Uninvited... so much that I pre-ordered the CD. Check it out. You won't be dissappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars I Talked To God And God Said BUY THIS ALBUM
This eponymous major label debut could be called 'The Uninvited's Greatest Hits". All but two of the tracks are pulled from their excellent Indie albums, and every track is a stand out. Wry, witty and thought provoking, The Uninvited are nothing if not controversial. If you have any doubt check out 'What God Said', in which the creator explains to JT that he can't help out everyone, or 'Ordinary Man' where Jesus tells Steve that '...it ain't easy to be the Son of God'. The tunes are catchy, tuneful alt-pop, very danceable with punk attitude (they pound pound pound). These guys are one of the best bands you've never heard. They are somewhat similar in style and tone to Deadeye Dick and Harvey Danger. Generally loud and wild, they also write excellent introspective songs like 'Rose Street' and 'Velcro Heart' that are never smaltzy. Check out 'Bottle of Thunder' to hear their signature mandolin sound. I can't say enough good things about this album, just buy it. I gotta be a mega multi media hero!

5-0 out of 5 stars Too High for the supermarket!
Easily one of my favorite albums of all time.. I find myself listening to Too High numerous times in a row.

Bachoi! I've always wanted to try it, I wonder if i have enough to buy it, it's grown in japan or maybe in china, or maybe some farm in south carolina. But just then I hear a voice in my head "Stay focused man tuna and bread", but right now I'm in produce bliss, WHHHHOOOOOOO!!! I'm too high for this!! - Uninvited

5-0 out of 5 stars The Uninvited
The Uninvited are an incredibly talented and entertaining band. This album, along with their 4 others are worth having in your collection. However you can't buy the other four anywhere else, check their website for CD's and other interesting information. Unimpressed and unexcited, unaccepted and uninviiiiteddddd........but it's all good! ... Read more

If the mainstream success of No Doubt and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones has whet your appetite for third-wave ska-and you're an open-minded skanker who welcomes the gonzo mixin' and matchin' of musical genres-you'll agree that Chicago's Blue Meanies are one of the finest bands in the universe. The second full album by these seven over-amped lunatics combines ska, early Replacements-styled punk, free jazz, Captain Beefheart, and klezmer music, with the kitchen sink (or at least a bit of theremin) thrown in for good measure. This is party music for the new millennium, but tunes like "The 4th of July" (about the Oklahoma City bombing) and "The Great Peacemaker" (a diatribe about handguns) will make you think while you're moshing. 5-0 out of 5 stars please...this album is a masterpiece
I HATE the fact that the Blue Meanies, a group that has incredible ingenuity and vituosity and an almost entirely original sound was ever pigeon-holed into the genre of Ska. Their having played alongside mediocre, run-of-the-mill punk/ska acts throughout their entire existance is a true tragedy...they were never given the attention they deserved and never found their way to the ears of a broad enough audience. This album should have inspired a whole new genre of music. The energy in this music is unparalleled. It is hateful, chilling, unpredictable and uncontrolable (and also, in a sort of twisted way, incredibly fun). The Blue Meanies aren't deliberately combining genres. You certainly won't find any Klezmer here, although I would argue that you can hear strong punk and avant-garde jazz influences. It also certainly isn't ska (anyone who can trace a real connection between this music and that of say, the Skatalites, deserves an award). Their sound really is original and different.

There are so many things that I love about the band. The wild guitar and organ sounds, the amazing horn lines, Billy Spunke's abrasive vocals and rebellious, exciting lyrics (reminiscent in some ways of Ginsberg)...This is arguably the best rock album of the nineties. If you have open ears this will blow your mind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatness
An insane collection of talent produce this pyscho circus music. There's two opinions of the Blue Meanies either you love them or you hate them. So preview the songs and decide whether they are great or awful to you.

1-0 out of 5 stars This band is TERRIBLE
I saw this band live at a Less than Jake show and another time with Mustard Plug. These guys are the worst band I have ever heard. I tried to avoid seeing them at the LTJ show but it didn't work. I feel dumber having sat through the show. Don't buy the CD, you will regret it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite iconoclasts!
The Blue Meanies are the true underground of the punk-ska world for the simple reason that they don't fit into any type of category or genre. Easily one of the most creative bands in any genre. If howver you are not accustomed to the B.M's, then give it a while before you make a final decision on your opinion of them. It will take some time before you can appreciate and enjoy their oddball sounds.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
The Blue Meanies are an awesome group that are not only ska. They are ska, jazz, rock, ect. all in one. Their songs are insane. This CD is definately worth buying. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mu330's best. Period. And another period.
In the vast sea of 1997 ska-core CDs, only a few stood out amongst them, and one of them is Mu330's 'Chumps On Parade'.
I bought Mu330's original 'Press', and was instantly captivated by such songs as 'Hoosier Love', 'Stuff', and 'Captain', among others (and the classics, 'King Kong' and 'Fist Fulla Nuts' from the re-release). Then came 'Chumps', which surpasses 'Press' by a mile.
Some may say that 'Crab Rangoon' is the best Mu-album, because of it's 'depth' and 'maturity'. Screw all that, this music is ass-kicking and fun! From the opening 'Wide Awake' to the hidden track (which I believe is called 'Chumps On Parade'), you're instantly submerged in fast-paced, all-out energy, bitchin' guitar solos, frantic horn lines, and songs that just wanna make ya jump up and dance.
And who says 'Chumps' isn't lyrically brilliant? Take 'Fried Chicken' for instance:
'Fried Chicken! Fried, fried, chicken! Chicken! Ba-GAWK!'
Just pure genius.
Now me, I'm a ska purist. I don't believe The Mighty Mighty BossToneS invented ska, and I show appreciation for the legends like The Skatalites and Bad Manners. And out of my catalogue of over 400 ska CDs, 'Chumps On Parade' is one that is played constantly.

If you love music, buy Mu330's 'Chumps On Parade'.

3-0 out of 5 stars I hate to bring this band's 5-star avg. down, but...
MU330 has made a dissappointment here. "Press" was much better, but this one's more ska than the last one. It's entertaining, but not really a great CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Album
Chumps rocks! I like every song. MU330 woo hoo. Buy now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chumps Rocks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Record of 2000
The first time I saw Pollen play was seven years ago. I fell in love with their music from the start. They are by far the best unappreciated band in the scene. If you're a fan of good emo/pop-punk/indie music, I strongly suggest you pick up this record. Nothing compares to it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars where is the love for this band
Not even the get up kids can combine the power of emo and the guitar aggression of punk so well. These songs make you want to pogo into you collapse or to go and fall in love with someone. These songs are what ferris buelers day off is to movies, something that makes you want to do something with yourself. With lyrics that talk about girls(getting together and breaking up), being in love and being happy with what life gives you. I first heard of them when I saw them with less than jake in april of 99 and they were the show stealers. I promise you, if you like punk, emo, indie or even just rock, you will absolutely love this album.

5-0 out of 5 stars too good for radio and MTV
Perfect blend of pop punk and power pop.....man this album rocks....Caramel is a great opener and Chanceless...words cant describe......these fellas are too good for radio and mtv airplay...hell yea!

5-0 out of 5 stars Too good for MTV and radio
I just gotta say Pollen is the best to come out of AZ (and well technically Pittsburgh)! They're a blend of pop punk like Descendants and power pop like posies.....well actually they sound like a power pop version of Descendants....known what I mean....Bob Hoag is a truly talented songwriter! 5-0 out of 5 stars GET THIS CD
with a new album comes change, as in this one, they have grown as a band and can expand the reach of their musical influences, while their first album was ska, and this one more punk, i cant wait to see where they decide to go next. A great horn section will always be key for CodeName, making their music fun and exciting to listen to, the horns give their sound depth and a dynamic that cannot be found in most bands these days.

3-0 out of 5 stars mediocre
I would actually give this 3.5 because there are a few decent moments on this album. But for the most part, I couldn't agree with that jizzy cat more.I don't think I would put them under the sell-out umbrella just yet.But it does seem like they lost, or deliberately changed, their direction on this album.Whatever the reason, it was definitely not for the better. If you haven't heard them yet and you have any appreciation for good ska, pick up their first album. This one can be avoided.

3-0 out of 5 stars dont sell-out
This album does not even come close to comparing to their first album. don't sell out and change ur lyrics because u guys were awesomei gave it 3 stars cuz theydidnt get rid of the horns YET so their music is still pretty goodi just hope they don't turn out like telegraph and suicide machines cuz their music is a shame now

this new album of theirs is awesome! i have said this a thousand times, but ill say it again. these guys are one of the most under-rated ska/punk bands out there. they flow the horns in with the rest of the music like no one else. they really know whats goin on. this cd is a little more refined than the last, but they have stuck to their roots and not sold out. if your a big fan of good classical punk/ska (catch 22, mad caddies, rx bandits, etc...) check these guys out and give them the respect they deserve! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Gwen Stefani's voice is amazing ... stunning ... great CD!!!
I must have listened to this CD 6 or 7 times in a row as soon as I left the store (I was driving in my car!). "Underneath it All" comes in the album mix and a great acoustical version. Following that is an acoustical version of "Just A Girl". And there's a bonus video on the CD but you need Real Player (or compatible) to watch it.

Obviously, Gwen Stefani had a lot of fun making this CD and this is apparent when you listen to the songs. She has to be one of the most versatile singers in pop music today. Every time I listen to one of the songs here, I refresh my amazement at Stefani's control, pitch, restraint and pure playfulness.

Best import I've bought in a long time. This is just a great CD. I think you'll be pleased. I know I am!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars what's wrong with people?
okay i'm sorry but i'm getting really aggravated when i see that every other review is like "ew no doubt sux0rz now cuz they rn't ska" hi grow up. realize that groups have to mature. if they were pumping out the same types of tunes over and over again... well it would get boring. and it would also show that they can't grow up and mature at all. but no, they chose to change over time with their audience but still keep the same great spunk that i think most fans love about them. why do so many people have a problem with this?

yes, this song is slower than most ND stuff, but hey, it's a sweet, fun song that you can still groove to. it's awesome, and so is the video, and gwen is gorgeous in it. ok so buy it, don't listen to these posers.

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful
Words just can't describe how much I hate this song. I like No Doubt, but this song just sucks. Tragic Kingdom is their best album to date. I bought the Return to Saturn cd, and I was very disappointed in it. I only liked 2 songs on that cd. I was going to buy Rock Steady, but somebody warned me not to buy it because it is just like Return to Saturn. I've liked Hey Baby and Hella Good, and I bet that will be the only two songs that I like if I did run out and buy Rock Steady. No Doubt, please return to your roots instead of cranking out this [rubbish].

5-0 out of 5 stars No Doubt is underneath it all on this song.
"Underneath It All" is No Doubt's best song off their 'Rock Steady' album. It's a ballad with a hip-hop feel to it. Gwen Stefani's voice is amazing, as usual. This CD single is a must have. Here are the track listings:

1.) "Underneath It All" [album version] ~ also the radio version. You've probably heard it by now. It's amazing! 5/5 stars

2.) "Underneath It All" [radio 1Live Acoustic version] ~ the acoustic version is superb! Nice acoustic guitar on this song. 5/5 stars

3.) "Just A Girl" [radio 1live Acoustic version] ~ awesome version of a single from their 'Tragic Kingdom' album. Once again, nice acoustic guitar sound. 4/5 stars

4.) "Underneath It All" [enhanced video] ~ cool music video! I like this a lot. 5/5 stars

Though I didn't really like a lot of the songs from the 'Rock Steady' album (and I'm a big No Doubt fan), I think "Underneath It All" is the best song from the album, and possibly one of No Doubt's best all together.

I highly recommend this CD single.

5-0 out of 5 stars ex-subhumans best
This is THE standout album from the best ska/punk band around these days.As always, the lyrics are hyper-intelligent, socially conscious rants that provoke real thought but never become preachy.Dick has never sounded better and the music reaches new levels of precision for this veteran band.Honestly, I've worn out my disk player with this album. It's easily one of the best ska/punk efforts ever released.Just buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely one of my favorite cds
I was never a really big fan of ska (i actually didn't even know what it was) until i heard the hippos. Now i'm addicted to ska! They are absolutely great! Some of the songs are so funny, and they are all great, even the filler tracks :). If you want something fun to listen to...this is definitely it! And if you love this cd, you'll love "Head Are Gonna Roll" even more!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great First CD From the Hippos
I have listened to both of the Hippo's CDs and I can honestly say this one is much better. If you haven't heard the hippos before, they are a excellent and versatile ska band. I say they're versatile because the band's songs all sound different, which is getting kind of hard to find now-a-days. You can tell the band is punk influenced and that's definately a good thing. All in all, this album is very good and you should definately pick it up. You will spend many hours listening/skanking to it...

Oh yeah, my favorite songs are: Please, Diane, and Irie but they're all great songs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Forget You! No, Forget the World!
This album was one of my very first ska albums. Very energetic horns, unique percussion style, good vocals, everything. I bought it in 1997 and unbeknownst to me at the time, my cousin was in high school with one of the horn players in Southern CA. I got to see the Hippos live once in Dallas, and they are fantastic both on and off stage. Their 2nd release - Heads Are Gonna Roll - is also a great CD, where their musical maturity really shines through. As of now they are broken up, but did manage to release a 3rd album because of an overwhelming number of requests (sometimes even bitter demands!) from their fans. This is incredible; I've never heard of any band putting out a new release after splitting up. It makes a good collector's item, but is somewhat evolved and has virtually no ska influence. Stick to Forget the World for your ska fix, and be sure to check out the band's updated website - www.thehippos.com. Peace.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must own CD!!!
If you only own one ska cd this definately should be it. A large variety of songs with many different themes (some love songs, serious and funny songs too). The title track for the cd "Forget the World," I think is the best ska song ever written both for the lyrics and the musical content. Overall the song writing on this cd is tremendous. Well worth putting out the money to get a hold of this music!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars not nearly as good as the follow up
Buy this only if you already own "heads are gonna roll." ... Read more

Album Description

What do you get when you combine guttural, rapid-fire vocals, a tough metallic guitar attack, a funhouse horn section and muscular drumming that borders on polka for the insane? It's nothing but the Voodoo Glow Skulls, a great punk rock band that happens to play very fast songs with horns.Voodoo Glow Skulls concocted their infectious mixture of punk, metal, ska and Latino music thirteen years ago and proceeded to distill it into a poisonous brew of propulsive rock n’ roll that has driven audiences wild around the globe. With continuous touring and a ferocious live show, Voodoo Glow Skulls have sold 500,000 records since forming in 1988. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Steady as She Goes!!!
Voodoo Glow Skulls never stop entertaining me. Good old fashion ska. They are a truly talented group. These guys, even though they are radio friendly, are one of my favorite bands of all time. This CD is probably their best. Buy this and Symbolic today. Trust me, you won't regret it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Undeniably great... Voodoo has done slightly better...
Steadily stomping hard into a raging pit of guitars, horns, and ska-bop-slamming grooves, Voodoo makes the switch to Victory with style. While I still love the old releases a tiny bit more... This is Voodoo, tried and true, keeping it real just for you. As the CD ends I don't really have the need to press play again, meaning this does not leave me begging for more. Stands tall on it's own, but this is much more aggressive and downtrodden than I remember the Skulls being... A welcome addition to any VGS' fan out there, sturdy, stiff and erect as a flag. Was worth buying even if the only songs on it were: Voodoo Anthem, Steady As She Goes, and Nada En La Cabeza.

5-0 out of 5 stars So great
This has got to be the best cd i have bought in a long time. For some reason, i always think that VDGS is the ska version of Pennywise. But anyway, this cd is one of the greatest ska/punk cds i have ever heard. you wont be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars voodoo+pirates=sweet album
the voodoo glow skulls are back again with another totally sweet album. this album is soo sweet that it even gave willy wonka a head rush! the fast, furious horns are back and still as crazy with the arrival of new trumpet player mason ball. totally sweet album that got me so pumped up that i almost kicked my mom in the face. if you love the voodoo glow skulls you'll totally cream yourself when you hear this release...really. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great taste of RBF! The ECD feature is awesome!
This is well worth the $ ( and it has two songs from "Everything Sucks" (I'm Cool, Why Do All Girls Think They're Fat?) 5-0 out of 5 stars You won't need your receipt!
This is a great Cd. It has everything... Good songs, good videos, a good game.... It's all there. The songs: Alternative, Baby: This is a nice tune about modern love and getting kicked in the head. Why Do All Girls Think They're Fat: Finally voicing an age-old question, this a pretty catchy song with the "Hey! Hey! Hey!"s. I'm Cool: A song which worms it's way onto every RBF album, this is the best version of it. S.R.: Great song. It's funny and catchy. Unity: Hey, what's wrong with another unity song? I Want Your Girlfriend To Be My Girlfriend Too: In case you were awareness-imparied, this is a hidden song. After Unity, let your player keep going and you'll hear it. It's a great song, I wish they included all of it. Everything Sucks: This is one of the videos. This song is my all-time favorite. Sell Out: Another video, this song is really upbeat and catchy, plus, the video is really cool. Trendy: A great song, but I wish they'd had the She Has A Girlfriend Now or The Set-Up video instead. 241: The best instrumental song they've ever done, this the game you can play. It's kinda fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good cd
A really good cd. this cd is for fans really

3-0 out of 5 stars Shoulda been longer
As you may have noticed, this cd dosnt have many songs. Being the second record they have released on this label (or any MAJOR label) they did ok. i mean this cd really isnt as good as the first. if you dont have the first dont worry because this is a good first cd to buy by them. it gives you a little sample of what they are like. if you love the fish and have all of their other cds dont bother because this cd only features 2 new songs unheard on the other cds.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't judge a CD by its cover.
At first, I was a bit weary about buying this CD. It was the first ska album I had purchased. This is a great CD for those ska rookies. This CD drew me into ska forever, and I hope it does the same for you. Every song on Receipt is a great example of RBF's solid songwriting. I recommend Receipt even if you are only remotely interested in ska. ... Read more

i live in Japan so i was able to get this way cheaper. the middle song ben zanotto is better than the title track (which is on the rancid 2000 disc i might add) and the 3rd one is ok, not great but ok. this is for serious rancid heads only, or people with 19 bucks to spend on 3 songs.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great CD From A Great Band
I first heard Reel Big Fish (RBF) on the soundtrack to "Baseketball" with their song "Beer". I immediately went out and bought their "Turn The Radio Off" ("TTRO"). And I loved it. So when "Why Do They Rock So Hard?" ("WDTRSH?") came out I went out and bought it. "WDTRSH?" was so much better than "TTRO" I couldn't believe it. I mean, this is a CD that I can listen to over and over and over and not get sick of. So when I heard they were re-releasing their first CD, I was ecstatic. I pre-ordered it and waited everyday until it came. If you are a fan, buy this album now! It has a different sound (that's not a bad thing) but you'll know a little over half the songs. For those of you who have never even heard of "RBF", consider this an excellent introduction. There are songs from both "TTRO" and "WDTRSH?", plus a few from "Keep Your Receipt" and some ones that are "new". Trust me, this CD is great and well worth the price. Plus, if you put the CD in your computer you can watch the "Everything Sucks" music video which is one of the funniest videos I've ever seen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything Doesn't Suck!
Espically this CD! Sure, its low quality and about half the songs are featured on other RBF albums("Turn the Radio Off", "Why Do They Rock So Hard?", and "Keep Your Recipt"). And if you've never heard of this skankin' band, this isn't exactly the best place to start. Only a die hard RBF fan like myself could truly enjoy this CD. The sound of the samples may discourage you from purchasing it, but believe me, any true a RBF fan would appreciate and love this awesome CD! I know you're gonna love the added sax solos and a different trombone player, but with that there is a down side. Scott(trumpet/vocals) was not in the band during the time RBF recorded this CD. And that would leave all the trumpet duties to my buddy Tavis. In conclusion I'd say this is truly a great addition to any lover of sarcastic ska and RBF!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not really what i expected
When i bought this CD, I thought I'd be in for the bouncy, happy jovial skank music that i've come to love (thru napster of course). Buuuuut to my suprise i pop in the CD and most of the songs sound quite "washed out" (like the singer is in another room or something). They weren't bouncy, and actually made me feel kinda sleepy. Maybe someone's playing a prank on me! I'm gonna go buy Turn the Radio Off.

3-0 out of 5 stars RBF is ok with this album
ive loved rbf for years now and i finally bought this title from amazon.com. It is allright but you have to realize the sound quality is lacking and the songs seem a little slower. dont buy unless you are a huge rbf fan with $16 burning a hole in your pocket.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything Sucks... Easily their best CD
Reel Big Fish is my favorite ska band, and unlike most people it seems, I love Everything Sucks. I think it's much better then Why Do They Rock So Hard?, Keep Your Reciept, or Turn the Radio Off. It's got about 13 songs from other CDs, but they sound very different. I like this older sound alot more then their newer Mojo stuff. My advice? Buy this CD. If you think you're a Fish fan but don't like it, have yourself put to sleep. ... Read more
