3-0 out of 5 stars For Die Hard Sid Fans Only
This album is a collection of live tracks performed by Sid Vicious live at Max's Kansas City. There are two shows represented here with little in the way of difference between the two. Between tracks there is some heckling and a few snide remarks from Sid. The songs are performed poorly, both musically and vocally, but hey... you would buy this because your a Sex Pistols/Sid Vicious fanatic anyway right? A must have for Sex Pistols/Sid Vicious fans, but generally a very poor recording. ... Read more

Dead Moon is an exception to the rule. For most bands, a live album is a toss-off, either a hastily assembled package released as a stopgap until the next studio project or something shoveled under management's door as a half-spirited contract fulfillment. For Dead Moon, a live album is like church on Christmas: an occasion for reverence and genuflection. Recorded somewhere in the Slovenia--in Europe Dead Moon are treated like living treasures--Hard Wired gives 20 songs that detonate with everything that is rock--a grizzled passion that can't be explained or faked. Check out the riffs spat through clenched teeth on "Goin' South," or Toody's gruff, sentimental vocal on "Cast Will Change." Elder statesman singer-guitarist Fred Cole switches back and forth from a Steve Marriott-like growl to some totally crazed yelping, all while Toody and Andrew flail away frantically in support. Sloppy? Yes, it certainly is. Pretty? Only in a bruised-heart sort of way, like on the surprisingly poignant "Somewhere Far Away" and "Running Out of Time," where Fred and Toody harmonize like an older, more weather-beaten John Doe and Exene. Dead Moon is like a classic muscle car that positively shreds the competition on a homogenous rock highway full of sissy, bland four-door sedans that were never built to last. --John Chandler ... 5-0 out of 5 stars excellent live show on cd as well as in person
I just saw this band last night, and their energy on stage is amazing. Hard Wired is a great collection of their older songs, and definetely captures what makes them so good live.

2-0 out of 5 stars if you are buying cuz of Pearl Jam don't...
The Ramones meet AC/DC. A live record with the song covered by Pearl Jam. Not a great recording. The songs are good, would rather hear studio versions. If you are looking to buy cause of the Pearl Jam song.. don't waste your money. Otherwise they are a good band but the production is no good!

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Rock N Roll
Fred Cole has been around since he was the lead singer for the Lollipop Shoppe when he was 16 years old in 1966. Him and his wife Trudy formed the Rats in the mid 70's, some great well written punk music. I have a couple of the records. Then they did some country punk before it became popular. I have seen Fred and Trudy live a few times and they are great. Dead Moon has put out a bunch of stuff since the 70's, try to find the out of print stuff. have fun,EVL.. PS. The Rats and Dead Moon had a great impact in the NW with Punk and Country Punks.

1-0 out of 5 stars Netherlands?
If it is called Hard Wired in Ljubljana, why was it recorded somewhere in the Netherlands? Ljubljana is in Slovenia--a country on the other side of Europe...

5-0 out of 5 stars Dead Moon Is The Best Thing Going In Rock 'N Roll Today
While Dead Moon's "studio" albums are nothing short of brilliant, anyone who has seen them live knows that they are beyond comparison. Which is why both Dead Moon live albums are so great. As opposed to most live albums, which are all dolled up and clean, Dead Moon live albums are the closest thing to being there. Definately a great purchase. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Fine Music for Writing A Thesis.
While the music certainly perfects the film "Damage",
it's also great to listen to when working on academic papers.
The soundtrack does not distract me like sometimes Jazz can,
but it keeps me in the right mood and pace.
Also recommended for moments of frustration,
or after getting bad comments from your professors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Music for "Damage"
Zbigniew Preisner captures the perfect music for such an emotionally charged movie. The melodies fill you with the sadness and despair that the charcters are portraying on the screen. Rarely do you find a movie where the music is just as powerful as the acting! Louis Malle definitely chose the right composer to bring everything together so brilliantly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Work of Art
It's one of those movie tracks that last a long time. It's not your every day type of music, but when you listen to it, it moves you deeply. I rated it the highest because it's flawless, like most of Preisner's work, and it's independant of the movie, meaning, you don't have to have seen the movie, on one hand and on the other - it does wonders for the movie itself. This soundtrack is a MUST LISTEN for every music lover.

5-0 out of 5 stars MOODY WONDERFUL SCORE
I LOVE THIS SCORE. MYSTERIOUS AND MOODY. THE SCORE IS PERFECT TO LISTEN ON A RAINY COLD DAY.

5-0 out of 5 stars HAUNTING AND SENSUAL
THE MUSIC LIKE ALL PREISNERS SOUNDTRACKS CAPTURE THE MOOD OF THE MOVIE OR RATHER VICE VERSA. HIS MUSIC LENDS MOOD TO THE MOVIE. THIS WORK IS HAUNTING AND SENSUAL EVEN WITH OUT THE MOVIE IMAGES. ITS CONSISTENT THEMES AND MOTIONS STICK IN YOU MIND AND TAKE ROOT. EXCELLENT SOUNDTRACK IN EVERY REGARD. THE INCLUSIONS OF JEREMY IRONS VOICEOVER WITH DIALOGUE FROM THE FILM ADD TO THE HEARTBREAKING SENSE OF LOSS THIS MUSIC CONVEYS. ... Read more

Only buy this one if you don't expect to ever find the "Live at the Roxy"cd. About 80% of that cd re-appears here (even though the original Roxy cd only runs for about 35 minutes). 2-0 out of 5 stars For true fans only
The Stranglers were a great live band but this album is really for true obsessives of the band only. In 1980 lead singer and guitarist Hugh Cornwell went to jail for possession of heroin. In his absence the other three members held two concerts at the Rainbow in London. To replace Cornwell they called in various friends to sing and/or play guitar. These included Hazel O'Connor, Toyah Willcox, Richard Jobson (Skids), Nicky Tesco (members), Ian Dury and Jake Burns (Stiff Little Fingers). As a result the album is unique in the history of the group and like no other live performance. Unfortunately only one of the songs really lives up to expectations and that is Jake Burns' growling rendition of 'Down in the Sewer'. The rest will be of interest only to obsessive fans either of the Stranglers or of those friends performing with them. If you want a true Stranglers live show choose 'Live X-Certs' instead. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The cd does the concert justice
I was at the Concert at Laga in Pittsburgh when the CD was recorded, and listening to Live puts me back in that concert groove. The Theory give a great show and this album portrays that skillfully. All Juliana Theory fans should own this album and it's a good cd to let people listen to to get a sampling of the band. It's got most of my favorites from their earlier work on it and conveys the concert energy well.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must!
If you are a true Juliana Theory fan and you don't have this CD yet then something is wrong with you.I wouldn't recommend it as a first listen from them but fans of TJT would definitely appreciate it...I know I do!

5-0 out of 5 stars pretty tight cd, a great live performance by a great band
After the band changed their sound in "Love," this CD is something that I think everyone will appreciate. For one thing, it had all my favorite songs from the band's first two CD's (especially "August in Bethany"). This CD was a welcome suprise for me, as I hadn't really been expecting it when I saw it at the store. But knowing the band's reputation and stuff I was willing to make the blind purchase. Every song is amazing live and showcase the awesome talent that each member of the band possesses. So while the band is growing up with all of its listeners with the somewhat darker "Love," this CD is simply fresh. A welcome blast from the past ._.

1-0 out of 5 stars gimmie a break
these guys having a live album is a joke... i was very unimpressed with thier live shows. not that they were bad... but the guys sampled more than Sir Mix Alot... alright maybe you can play a little something but these guys sampled drums tracks, guitar... hell they even sampled vocals. what is that? it's an alright band but the term "Live" is used very loosely here. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars a great live album!
Less Than Jake - Live From Uranus was recorded live in New York in 1997. It has now been put onto CD and is really good. It has great songs on it such as Liquor Store, Automatic, Just Like Frank and Time And A Half On 2nd Avenue And 6th Street. Don't let the price put you off because it's definitely worth it. A must buy for all LTJ CD collectors!

3-0 out of 5 stars Recycled...
Hasn't anyone else realized that raw, along with a numner of the other cheap "best of's" and "live" albums, that this is the same recording as on the "live at chelmsford prison?" minus the background prison riot noise?

cool set, but i don't need five copies of it with different covers.

Long live the Pistols. Steve Jones, GUITAR HERO!

4-0 out of 5 stars emokid12 what????
Sometime i wish people would learn about a band before they make a fool of themselfs with a review. This cd emokid12 said sounded wierd without a bass player since sid wasnt on the cd. Glen was a great bass player. the pistols started with glen replaced him with sid then took him back when sid tryed to go solo. sid held the pistols back for he was too messed up most times to play. he only played on 7 songs studio recordings that is. sid couldnt learn the songs due to a drug problem. so to me sid was not a real part of the pistols in the music sence, but he was a huge part of them in the crazy in your face bull they gave people. lets face it sid was nuts, and he would have been here still if it wasnt for that piece of junk nancy

5-0 out of 5 stars raw
sex pistols rule and will always rule. Live cd is good but doesn't have sid so it sounds wierd with bass. all in all a great cd

3-0 out of 5 stars My ears are raw.
I will admit the music itself is of good quality and they are an excellent band, but it didn't quite appeal to me. Anarchy in the UK itself is addicting, but not many others hold such 'nicotine'. I gave it a three and my respect for The Sex Pistols in general.

5-0 out of 5 stars Raw - The Sex Pistols Demos /Live
This record has 1976 demos from Chris Spedding, and "...no lip, child", "new york (dolls)" and "substitute" are live recordings from the 76 period. "No Feeling" is an early demo, which is different from the Spunk session. "Anarchy in the U.K." is a slow, but, heavy demo, and sounds completely different to the "Nevermind The Bollocks- ..." version. Many of the songs can be found on other releases, but the sound quality is excelent. ... Read more

I have to say this is one of the best punk albums ever. Its fast, its political, its angry and its true to punk. It also has extra rare tracks that sets this album apart from any other just live album. this cd is a classic punk must have. If this isnt in your collection than it will never be complete. 5-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad place to start
Alice Donut were one of the finest bands of the late 80's/early 90's, and if you ever saw them live you would have been a fan for life. Lyrics that required some thought to write, excellent two guitar interplay and the occasional trombone combine for a lovely green meat stew of punk rock (if you must pigeonhole them). Every song on this live album is one of their best, performed during a tight live CBGB show complete with hilarious between song banter. If you buy this and "get it", then immediately purchase the rest of their catalog before it gets really hard to find. If you buy this and don't "get it", stick to things like Blink 182 until you have your first child and start amassing Sting and Michael Bolton records. Good luck.

5-0 out of 5 stars ALICE COMES ALIVE!!!!!
THIS WAS THEIR FIRST ALBUM I HEARD FOR THE FIRST TIME HEARING ABOUT THIS GREAT ALTERNATIVE PUNK FREAK POP BAND IN DECEMBER 2000
BY MY SISTERS EX BOYFRIENDS HOUSE.I WAS AMAZED BY THE LIVE, RAW

I WAS ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING WHEN I HEARD THAT, HA HA HA THIS WHOLE ALBUM COMBINES ELEMENTS OF JANE'S ADDICTION, SLAP OF DEAD KENNEDYS OF HEAVY SARCASM LYRICS WISE.HANDS DOWN THE BEST UNRATED LIVE RECORD
IVE HEARD IN A WHILE,I THINK BETTER THAN MOST LIVE ALBUMS BY BANDS TODAY CUZ TODAY'S GARBAGE IS NOTHING COMPARED TO DONUT'S MATERIAL. PROPERLY PACKAGED WASTE BOX OF NON CREATIVE ARTISTS
IS ALL WE SEE NOW. SO DO ME A FAVOR THROW UR T.V. OUT THE WINDOW AND CORPORATE ROCK CD'S OUT THE WINDOW AND REVAMP UR COLLECTION BY STARTIN WITH THIS CD AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU SUCK DOGTURDS.

Nope. This is a masterpiece. From the dubbed in Frampton style crowd noises to man screaming at the auidience to drink robitusin, this album is king. And the music kicks A*s!!! You'll like this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars No real bonus
My review for the no-bonus track version has also been used on this one. However, I should point out that the original version is superior to this one. Bonus tracks are generally a mixed bag, and with a live album probably more so. Thus, a once decent album is junked up with pretty disposable extra live tracks. I can't see anything to recommend this version, songs like "Straighten Out" and "Peaches" sound odd when out of their original late 70's context.

4-0 out of 5 stars An album for any Stranglers fan
Live albums are sometimes to be avoided, but this is one worth having. The set is very good, as are the production and mixing. Of course, it's not as aggressive as 1979's "Live X-Cert", but what stands out, as on that album is the brilliant drumming of Jet Black. The acoustic quality is generally good (although the bass and guitar work is sometimes less than clear), and the horn section adds a little extra appeal to some of the songs. Also worth checking out is the harder to find "Saturday Night Sunday Morning", a live album recorded the night before Hugh Cornwell announced his intention to leave the band in 1990.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Stranglers Live CD
I have a number of live Stranglers releases and think this is the best. While some people think the excellent Live X-cert is the best live release by the band, I disagree. Live X-cert only highlights the earliestStranglers songs. All Live covers old material and the best of the newermaterial. This CD still has the immensely talented Hugh Cornwell on vocalsand guitars. The CD does have a horn section, which was really a temporaryperiod for the band. The production is excellent. For the music fan who isnew to the Stranglers I would first recommend Greatest Hits 1977-1990 andthis release as the best live release by the band. Hope you enjoy it! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars GG's worst recording
This is GG's least successful recording (Suicide Sessions). He must have been on a bigger drunk than usual (other substances also involved, I assume) when this was taped. Not sure if GG had a hand in its release. The CD consists of a bunch of extremely rawly recorded numbers, more noise than music. Sounds like it was recorded in a cement mixer. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing: it is here. Skip this (unless you're a GG completist). For GG's best material get hold of: CARNIVAL OF EXCESS (country-style material); FREAKS, FAGGOTS.. (extremely raw, & shocking: but great tunes: at its best, astounding); BRUTALITY & BLOODSHED FOR ALL (last studio recording, with his last - and best - backing band, the MURDER JUNKIES: super shocking, yet amusing & highly curious, with some of GG's best ever songs). Also check the MURDER JUNKIES post-GG releases : the group is not cashing in on GG's fame, they're doing their own thing, in a similar, but definitely distinctly different style to the music of their time with GG: particularly good are some of the songs on the FEED MY SLEAZE CD (or 10" record). The Murder Junkies features GG's brother Merle on bass: definitely an amusing & entertaining figure. People miss the fact that GG was a genuine musical talent. The Murder Junkies are definitely worth checking: really one of the only combinations I can think of that are doing any material of any interest here in 1999. GG we miss you.

5-0 out of 5 stars F*cking Great

4-0 out of 5 stars The title says it all!!!
The original Pistols (bassist: Glenn Matlock) live at Burton on Trent in 1976.The sound quality isn't great, but everything is audible. The rarity of this item makes it a MUST-OWN.Includes a cover of "Subsitute" (yes!) and "Dolls (New York)".This is as close as you can get to an authentic Pistols performance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Original Pistols Live- Burton -On-Trent 1976
This album has nearly all (its missing 2 songs...) of the Burton-On-Trent gig in the 76 club (Sept. 24 1976). The audio quality is pretty good and has some really great versions of "Anarchy in the U.K." and "Pretty Vacant". This record captures the spirit of the sex pistols live, and it provides us with an incredible set of songs, with original bass guitarist, Glen Matlock. A MUST for any pistols fan. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The All-Time Best
Oh man, this is the greatest CD in the history of Christian hard music. These guys defined the market with their first release, "Stone", in 1994, with Tooth & Nail Records. Their first album was good, but this sophomore release is unbelievable. If you have Real Media, listen to the songs on this page. They are great! Too bad they broke up, but hey, bands do. Buy this if you like guitar-driven grunge rock with deep, smooth bass. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the GREATEST cd you will ever own!!
This is one of my favorite cds. Briad is such an amazing band, and they prove it by this live album. The opportunity of hearing their raw talent, is one that should never be passes up. Because it is a live album, it is a little difficult to hear the screams and "yeah"'s, which are my favoite part. This is a great cd if it is the first Braid CD you purchase, because it has a wide variety of songs from all albums, even including some new songs. If you like this CD, I recomend that you go out and by the others. Then you can get the full effect of the yells, like in "the new nathan detroit". So all of you wondering wether to buy this album, get it now!! I promise that you wont regret it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Lucky to sing along
This is an awesome addition to any Braid collection. This is such a great cd, made better for me considering that i was there at this show. it was my first time seeing them, kinda ironic, no? well, either way, i was floored at the show, and it totally continues and is heard in this cd. All the energy is there from the full lengths and then some. If you need more evidence of the great show they put on, they now have a video of the last few days of the band. it includes clips from their last five shows, Milwaukee, Fireside(chicago), Metro, Fireside "not so secret secret show", and then back to Champaign where it all began. Also ther are interviews from band members. Yeah, so, if you like the band even just a little bit, then you will grow to love this cd, just try to keep the tears welled up inside.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Live CD
Braid is one of those bands that is so fun to listen to you can put their CD on repeat and never get tired of it. This CD is great and really inexpensive so I reccomend that anyone into Get Up Kids, Promise Ring, or Mineral buy this CD. You will not be disappointed, this is one of the best live CDs I have ever heard.

3-0 out of 5 stars "Lucky..." Is For Braid Fanatics Only
Lucky to Be Alive is merely a recording of Braid live. While it captures the energy and enthusiasm that these guys put on the road, it is hardly their "swan song". The packaging is a bit disappointing -- mostly pics of their van and not of them live. Don't buy this disc unless you've bought the others and can't get enough! ... Read more
