Album Description

Slightly Stoopid possesses a unique dynamic. They have the sort of musical kinship that is clearly the result of years spent growing up together in one of Southern California's premiere surf towns and the relentless pursuit of creating the quintessential soundtrack for the lifestyle that exists there. Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald are perfect musical counterparts, complementing each other in the realm of elctric and acoustic rock, reggae, dub, blues, hip-hop, punk and metal. Boasting dual front men, Slightly Stoopid yields a rare chemistry. Both are multi-instrumental, often switching effortlessly from bass to guitar in the middle of their shows, continuously balancing their vocal stylings and fresh harmonies and always converging into songs that are good enough to be respected by the very artists who inspire them. ... Punk rock is meant to be played loud and snotty. Blink 182 are a San Diego punk rock threesome whose interest in arrested development has led them to a sparkling array of sex jokes that cover everything from anal sex to masturbation to... Well, you get the idea--and that's just the between-song banter. This limited-edition live collection--a holding pattern until the band's fifth studio album is released in 2001--features a slam-dunk collection of the band's hits, fan favorites from their various studio albums, and new tunes ("Blew Job" among the enlightened tracks). One additional studio track, "Man Overboard" (already a hit on a radio near you), packs a harder punch than most, thanks to the studio finesse. But mostly these are revved-up versions of songs to break a skateboard by. With the added appeal of a color booklet and about seven minutes of "stage banter" tacked on at the end, guaranteed to either leave you in stitches or have you grounded for a month. --Rob O'Connor ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A great live album for every kind of Blink 182 fan!
For those of you that like Blink 182's punk-turned-pop album, Enema Of The State, you'll appreciate some of the songs that they play in this album, such as "All The Small Things" or "What's My Age Again?"But this album also contains some old Blink 182 favorites such as "Dammit" or "Carousel" that will keep the punk fans satisfied. Mark, Tom, and Travis play great, with few mess-ups and very high quality sound. The jokes in between songs and the ones in the last 28 tracks are hilarious, but inapproprate, which is probably the reason it got the parental advisory label, but hey, they aren't too bad, and most 12 year olds could hear em. This album has 49 tracks, the first 19 being a whole show with entertaining commentary in between, 20 is "Man Overboard," their awesome new single. 21-49 are just the guys jokin around at various concerts. This CD is great, only a few problems being:1.It gets a little boring hearing it over and over, especially the jokes, and 2.Travis doesn't talk at all. C'mon, Travis, don't just bang on those drums! Other than those facts, this CD rules, and is a must-have for any Blink 182 fan.Buy it NOW!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Pure Blink 182.
Wow. This is a fabulous CD. Right off the bat, you realize what you have- a CD that totally embodies what the band Blink 182 is all about, that being girls, potty humor, and punk rock. The boys do great live versions of some of their best hits, "Dammit," "All the Small Things," and "Dumpweed" standing out, though I was disappointed that their early hit "Girl Next Door" wasn't included. That aside, they did a great job on this CD. They sound great live, and aren't one of those bands that needs numerous studio tricks in order for you to like them. Mark's bass solos are great, and make the songs that much more of unpredictable and fun ride. Tom's recognizable lead guitar chords jump out at you, and as you hear them a smile comes on your face knowing what the song is. Travis's drumming is as phenomal as ever, never missing a beat and rocking hard. These three big kids mixed together have a style that is impossible to resist. They blend their love for girls, bathroom jokes, and their token punk rock in one desirable package. A real treat on the CD is their latest single "Man Overboard." Totally Blink's style, it has all the guys at their best, with catchy lyrics, plenty of times for each one of them to shine, and an overall tone that's impossible to resist. Another aspect of the CD fans will love are the last minutes of the CD, devoted entirely to commentary made by Mark, Tom, and Travis at their live shows. It includes outrageous dares, hysterical dips into their pasts, and even a visit from Satan. Simply put, if you love Blink 182, this CD is a must-have. You will laugh, sing along, and when it comes to "Adam's Song" maybe even cry on the wild trip with the guys of Blink. So get this CD. It's worth the money, and you'll love it guaranteed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome Live CD!
This CD is the next best thing to actually being at one of their live shows. Listen to them as they ramble on about pointless crude things in between songs and hear the audience loving it just like you will. After the last song listed #19 Man Overboard, there is alot more on the CD. There is alot more tracks of them making lots of jokes and of course more crude humor. This is one of their best releases. Not only does it have songs from their extremely popular cd Enima of the State, but also songs from their older stuff too! Overall this is a great great cd!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good live album from Blink 182
The Mark, Travis and Tom Show is Blink 182's live album documenting the Enema tour. Many great songs make the album, and the songs are performed with great energy, but there is way too much stupid dialogue in between songs, that after awhile it gets annyoing and starts to take away from the enjoyment. I'd borrow it from someone before, I'd fork over 20-30 dollars for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The next best thing to a Blink concert.
You want this CD ... you want this CD.

"Untitled" is the ultimate break-up anthem from Blink. Oh wait ... no, "Dammit" is, but "Untitled" comes as a close second. Blink has a way of writing songs that people can relate to, with honest lyrics and damn depressing themes. Between songs, there are a lot of dirty jokes and funny dialogue (it's not tasteful, but who cares?). After "Man Overboard" the CD goes on and on for about an extra 40 minutes with talk. Good stuff. Best of all, it's like a portable Blink 182 concert. ... Read more

Even if Social Distortion have lost some their edge on more recent studio releases, this new live set is solid proof that the band's musical urgency is still intact. Seventeen years of classic Orange County, California, punk is represented over 17 tracks, as the band moves through speaker-rattling alternative-radio hits like "Bad Luck," "Let It Be Me," and "Ball & Chain." Singer Mike Ness's rockabilly roar is in fine form, as is the grinding rock energy his bandmates put out. Recorded over three nights at Los Angeles's historic Roxy nightclub, the disc serves as a great testament to one of America's finest punk bands. --Aidin Vaziri ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars O.C. Legend
Listening to Social D's "Live At The Roxy" you'll feel the punch and energy of an authentic legend of O.C. punk. Young people might think that they are part of the new generation, because of the success that they got with the successfull "White Light..." and their MTV's popularity. But, after 17 years on the road, they know exactly what they do. The incredible drummer Chuck Biscuits gave the band a new and hard blood and Ness is still a loser. The album was recorded at the Roxy, the same place as another O.C. legend, Agent Orange, gave birth to the classic "Real Live Sound". Some songs will even make you cry, especially "Don't Drag Me Down", "Ball And Chain" and "Telling Them".

5-0 out of 5 stars Live and Loud
Social Distortion albums are usualy strong, but let us face it they really come to their right on stage. Live at the Roxy is a perfect example. The energy that shows on this album is amazing, and some of the tracks are actualy better live than the album releases. Here is stuff from their earliest days such as Mommy's Little Monster and 1945 up to their reunion on Prison Bound and right up to White Light, White Heat, White Trash. Ness is ever present on stage and the mannages to get the audience "going". The album is a perfect example of Social Distortions production thorough the years, and shows us their evolution from the basics of punk and into their maturing into their current stage. Get this album and enjoy among others an exeptional version of Don't Drag Me Down.

5-0 out of 5 stars best live album ever
WOW. This disc perfectly capture a SD live show. They tear through classics like "Bad Luck", "Mommy's Little Monster", "Prison Bound", "I Was Wrong", "Don't Drag Me Down" and "Story of My Life" with the ferocity of caged animals. "Live At the Roxy" is as close as you get to a Social Distortion "best of" album so if you're new to the band this is the one you want. Overall I would rank this a close #2 behind the nearly flawless "White Light, White Heat, White Trash". Let's hope that the 8 year hiatus since that album means that their new stuff will be just as good.

5-0 out of 5 stars U got 9 more of those fingers....
This album is second only to white light white heat white trash. The sound quality is great! Everything about this album rocks! Mike Ness's lil comments between songs are also cool to listen to. This is pure social distortion at their best!!!! Buy this cd or be forever lame.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 stars = 5 angry construction workers
I borrowed this record from my uncle and I loved it so much he let me keep it. I never would have suspected that punk rock would sound so dangerous live. Up until I got this album, all I listened to previously was hippie music (the Who, Janis Joplin). Records like these are ones that make you want to broaden your musical horizons which I have been doing ever since.
Mike Ness and the boys play a great set which includes most of their best songs (Ness apologizes for forgetting "Sick Boys" in the liner notes). Their rendition of "Under My Thumb" is loud and aggressive as well as their cover of "Ring of Fire" even if Ness does claim it was dedicated to the ladies in the audience. SD's originals are far from shameful as well. Their versions of "Prison Bound" and "Mommy's Little Monster" are sharp enough to cut through stone and from then on, you're listening to the story of a kid who was never quite cool enough to be one of the "guys" but could rip through distortion drenched Chuck Barry licks as well as anyone, the kind of outsider story punk rock is based on and seems to be Ness's life story.
While all the songs are exeptional, highlights include the sorrowful "I Was Wrong", and "1945" but their anti-discrimination anthem "Don't Drag Me Down" is probably the most powerful track on the disc.
If you like punk rock in the least bit and you like live albums in the least bit, steal this from Sam Goody today! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Live Sound
This CD totally captures the live sounds of Sublime. Not playing before a stadium sized crowd adds to the fact that Sublime was content with where they were in the industry. The one thing I want to know is for those people that have this CD, why doesn't the song list give the name of the song played directly before "Date Rape"? I know it's off the 40 oz. CD, and it's only a little cut, but it deserves it's due. Anyway, get this CD if you are familar with the Sublime studio sound, and would love to hear them taped live. Even if the sound quality is a little less than par, it's a great collectiion of Sublime tunes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Even if this CD doesn't have the best setlist they could have put together it does accomplish the most important thing it needed to do: capture the feeling of live Sublime. From the openning explosion of Don't Push to the melodic ending of Ruca and everything in between this album captures the atmosphere and feeling of being at a Sublime concert. For anyone who started liking Sublime when they heard the self-titled album and obviously never got a chance to see Sublime live this album will keep you hooked for life. Also if all you have is the self-titled and are looking for more, earlier music you can't go wrong with this.

5-0 out of 5 stars A sublime masterpiece
For most of my life, i have been interested it badmusic until i came along sublime. sublime turned be on to the greatful dead(scarley begonias), the maytals(5446), peter tosh(steppen razor) and many more of the greats. I guarentee that anyone will like this album, it is some of sublimes best work, my favorite song on this album is "all you need" and "djs" (very different from 40 oz version). if you enjoy this, i recomend picking up "40 oz to freedom" and "robbin the hood."

5-0 out of 5 stars lets go get stoned
This was the CD that introduced me to sublime. It is my favorite album I own. Bradley sounds amazing on this. My favorites are Dont Push,Right Back,Lets Go Get Stoned,,Badfish,DJS,Work That We Do. I don't dislike any of the songs on here. Even though I normally listen to hip hop I think this easily beats any rap albums and I think its great that Sublime opened our eyes to the fact that there are white people in the Hood.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great album, but I miss Mike
These guys are an amazing group of individuals that I can listen to constantly and never get bored. They represent all of the necessary qualities that a great band must have. They make their music and put it out there. Every song of theirs has a message and a purpose and you've gotta love the bagpipes. These guys do Punk way better than Flogging Molly and it's awesome that this year they get to headline the Warped Tour.

With that said, let's get down to this Greatest hits/live album deal. Just about everyone of their best songs are on here. Everything is fast paced and clear. It's awesome that the CD has the monolagues in between the songs to show what it is like at a Dropkick show.

Here's my problem. If I wasn't a hardkore Dropkick Murphy's fan, I'd give this album 5 stars. But I am a huge fan and i love Mike, the original singer. Nobody can bring it like he did it. Mike is the singer for this band. Do or Die made this band. Mike has an awesome voice for what the band was trying to do. On Do or Die, they were a very political band ready to do big things. But, Al Barr just doesn't have it in him and when he sings the songs off of Do or Die, it shows.

What really pisses me off is that it seems like he doesn't care about the old songs because they aren't his. During songs like Boys on the Docks, he lets the croud do more singing than he does. He ruined Finnigans wake by trying to make it super fast and aggressive instead of keeping it a folky Irish song.

The songs from Sing Loud, Sing Proud were fine. I had no problems with them. Those are his songs so of course he's gonna sound better on them. But PLEASE RESPECT THE OLD STUFF. I LOVE THIS BAND AND I DON'T WANT TO WATCH IT FALL LIKE SO MANY BANDS OUT TODAY.

4-0 out of 5 stars Yeah, it's good.
I was at the Murphys' March 16 show, and while this CD doesn't quite compare to seeing them live, it does make a nice souvenir. At 26 tracks, it's very inclusive, so you get to hear a nice mix of this band's unusually eclectic (at least for a punk band) catalog. At any rate, it's obvious that the Murphys put a lot of passion and energy into their songs, and getting to hear it live and raw is quite a treat. Al Barr and Ken Casey make an excellent vocal tag-team, and Matt Kelly's machine-like drumming brings a precision and variety more often seen in metal than in punk. Although hard and fast is definitely a recurring theme in the Murphys' music, they also do a good job of slowing it down with melodic, heartfelt numbers like the melancholy "The Torch" and the uplifting "Forever," which is one of the few love ballads that don't make my stomach turn. And I must say, I'm very pleased that they included their cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son," as the way they annihilate that classic song is just great. If you like the Murphys at all, this disc is essential.

5-0 out of 5 stars I wish I was Irish
Well to begin, I am not a huge fan of punk music. This is mostly because of most bands today that pass themselves as punk, like Sum 41 and Good Charlotte. With that aside, this is pure punk and pure energy. My friend introduced me to this band shortly before St. Patricks day. We we're making Irish cds and he had some of this bands music. I love how they can take traditional Irish songs and make them full of energy. This brings me back to my skateboarding days when punk music was true punk. I have always said that if you want the true vibe of the band you like, hear them live. This album does not dissappoint. People say this album is only for hardcore fans of DKM but I have to say this is the only album that I own from them. This band is one part Irish drinking songs, and one part punk, which works very nicely. I just wish they did a cover of Whiskey in the Jar, but if you want a heavy version of that song, stick to Metallaca's version. Metallica is good in their own respect I guess (I'm not a huge fan of them), but their cover of that song is quite badass. If you want a good cd to play as loud as you can around St. Patties day, this is it. Enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great show and a great CD
The Dropkick Murphys concert on St. Patricks Day was absolutely nuts. It was probably one of the top 3 shows I've ever seen. Every song they did was great and the crowd was extreme for the whole show. Hearing these songs again is incredible and makes me remember one of the best shows I've ever seen. The CD has every song that I can remember from the show. Songs like Barroom Hero and Upstarts and Broken Hearts are absolutely classic. If you only one live CD, get this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Live CD I've ever heard
From the second I popped it into my cd player, I never regretted putting up [$$$]for it. When you don't hear the murphys singin (and even when you do) you can hear the chorus of the crowd keeping the song going. Though the vocals my not be always on key, its a live cd and they can't use multiple takes. Its the next best thing to seeing them live. In between songs there is some hilarious dialogue too. Even the slow songs, "Torch" and "Forever", are worth listening to. My favorite has to be "The Gauntlet". Hearing them play it live gives me goosebumps. If you are looking for a great live cd and are a murphys fan, PICK THIS ONE UP! If you want a super hi quality studio version of the Murphys, take a look at "Sing Loud Sing Proud" or "Do or Die". Overall its the best live cd I've ever heard and a great sing along album to any hardcore murphys fan. ... Read more

Amazon.com essential recording

When the Ramones left the confines of CBGB's in 1976--where they had developed their earmark three-chord speed delivery--and took the show on the road to England, they set the punk-rock juggernaut rolling. It can't be stressed enough how influential these boys from Forest Hills, Queens, were on Britain's emerging punk-rock scene, but a few seconds into It's Alive and it's easy to tell why. It's Alive captures the phenomena of the Ramones at their peak and in their element: live and sweaty.

You've barely blinked before you realize that the first half-dozen songs have already raced past, their backdraft sucking the oxygen out of your lungs. "Rockaway Beach," "Teenage Lobotomy," "Blitzkrieg Bop," and "I Wanna Be Well" practically melt together in a three-chord melange, Tommy never letting up on the frantic beat and Joey pausing barely long enough to breathlessly shout, "Onetwothreefour!" before launching into the next set. The longest song here clocks in well short of three minutes, and many are hardly longer than one. Twenty-eight songs clock in under 48 minutes. Talk about a land-speed record. No subtleties of production or tweaking are needed here to capture the Ramones' live sound. Plug 'em in, turn everything up to 10, and let it rip. The sound of the manic crowd is practically organic. It's Alive is not just the best Ramones album, it is easily the best live punk-rock album of all time, and perhaps one of the best live albums ever set to wax. --Tod Nelson ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Bop Heard Round The World
I was one of those die-hards who bought "It's Alive" as a double lp import, and remember having the Deadheads in my college dorm constantly complaining that I should turn it down. Over 20 years later, I am proud to still love this one LOUD. If you're looking for a clue as to why The Ramones led a revolution, this is the live album to start with.

This is, by far, the best of The Ramones' several live albums. It catches them in London 1977, between the brilliant "Rocket To Russia" and "Road To Ruin" records and launching a sea of imitators in their wake. It also sees them still loud fast and rough, barely pausing for breath between the end of each song and the ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR! rapid-fire count of the next. It's twenty-eight songs in barely an hour, and you still wish there were more. How many records can you say that about?

The band was still inexperienced enough to be ragged but right, and it shows if you do a couple comparisons between this and other Ramones' live discs. Compare the supersonic version of "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" here to the one on "Loco Live" and you'll realize that there was still a little time left before their early vitality would be sapped by too many years of middling success, grinding tours and rock life excesses. That's not to say that The Ramones were ever less than killers live; they were probably rock's best night out for the entire duration of their career.

5-0 out of 5 stars In The Belly Of The Beast
If you're only going to buy one live Ramones album this year, this is the one. Experience da bruddas Ramone in all their glory, warts and all, while at the peak of their powers, when Johnny still had the fastest right hand in rock and Joey still had enough wind to sing all of the words. I remember seeing them at The Second Chance in Ann Arbor, MI at about this time and when Johnny struck the first chords in "Blitzkrieg Bop," we all realized that we really had no clue as to how loud it was going to be. It was like being caught in the middle of an energy sandwich, with the beautiful noise coming from on stage pushing us one way and the sway of the crowd pushing us the other. A real Hallmark moment for the socially retarded in all of us.

5-0 out of 5 stars REST IN PEACE JOHNNY
This CD is full of vibrant music. The Ramones, at thier high, were one of the best bands ever. The CD is a great deal its cheaper in price and richer in music. This Cd is a must have for all Ramone fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never Better!
This IS the Ramones. To fully appreciate the "Bruddas", you have to experience them live and this is the closest you're going to get to the Ramones at their peak! Here, you have the band while they still cared 100%. You have Joey before he decided to mumble through lyrics. You have Johnny before he tried to play every song faster than the speed of light. You have Dee Dee, period! You have them when they still all, more or less, liked each other. Unlike later live albums like Loco Live, this one leaves you feeling as if you were there, without feeling like you've been rushed out the damn door. This is the same set as the recently released Live NYC disk. The only difference being Joey's in-between song banter (what there is of it). Instead of Joey telling the crowd "After eating that chicken Vindaloo, I wanna be well!", he says "After eating that dressing room food.." The sound on It's Alive is far superior however, so if you're buying one or the other, make it It's Alive. All the early day hits are here- Cretin Hop, Rockaway Beach, Sheena is a Punk Rocker, Teenage Labotomy....and so on. Make your day and pick this mutha' from tha' Bruddas up!

2-0 out of 5 stars I am hugely disappointed...
There must be something wrong with me. For some reason I cannot get into this band. And it really pisses me off! I recently borrowed this album from the library and I liked maybe 2 or 3 songs. I admit that they were a very talented band and an important part of musical heritage, but I found them to be quite boring. All the songs sound the same and not in a good way either. They just seemed to go by and have no effect on me. I guess I'm just too into my hardcore.

Sorry people. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid Compilation
With any compilation CD there will be some awesome songs and others that you will pretty much skip every time and this one is no different. Overall though there are plenty of good tracks to make this worth the money. In my opinion the standout songs are those by NOFX, Anti-Flag (my favorite song on here), Bouncing Souls, Pennywise, and Pulley. New Found Glory, Yellowcard, 1208, and Flogging Molly have pretty good songs on here too. There really aren't many songs that suck except for maybe The Keys to Life vs. 15 Minutes of Fame by Atmosphere, which is a rap song and sounds way out of place on a punk compilation. Some of the bands on here I had never heard of before but they make positive contributions to this CD. So you could find a new band you like here too. Buy this to hold you over until the tour actually starts.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS CD ROCKS GCFAN11
Okay To gcfan11 who says that the only good bands are simple plan yellowcard and new found glory its true these are good bands but they are not the only good ones people have to give less known bands a chance and not only bands that are on mtv because alot of good bands are out there, you should'nt feel bad about not being able to go to the concert because you probably wouldnt be able to appreaciate actual punk music. this cd is good just like any other comp u gotta listen to it a couple of times before judging it its worth the price even if it was double the price.

In response to the review before me. I would like to say that just because a band isn't on the main stage doesn't mean that they aren't good. It's people like you that I hate at the warped tour, you try so hard to dress "punk" and go there and be the "cool" you. You don't even give the other bands that are playing on a smaller stage a chance. I'm sorry they don't play on the radio, so they can't be good, because everything on MTV is the only thing you should listen because they know good music. I hope you suffocate slowly listening to your damn music.

2-0 out of 5 stars Careful punks...
The warped tour used to be mostly punk bands with great music, but this 2 disc garbage has got to stop. This isn't much more than one big screamo fest, and as a late-twenties punker who's been to every warped tour lemme just tell you...SCREAMING does not make you punk rock! It really just makes you another in a long line of bands ripping each other off for that rad Jawbreaker sound...or whatever it is they are going for. This comp has some strong material (Alkaline Trio, Bad Religion, The Lawrence Arms, many others) but also has more junk you've never heard of and probably shouldn't. They really should go back to one-disc comps of the really good PUNK on the warped tour and get all these 8th stage wack bands off the comp. Oh yeah, lots of that generic new pop-punk stuff too (yellowturd, taking back sunday, simple plan?!?!?!?!, et al ad nauseum). I got it free w/my warped tour tickets. I wouldn't pay a dime for this lame overdone comp. But it is about 30% rockin'.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Collection
I got this at Hot Topic for 8 bucks!! I really got it for the first cd. Dont get me wrong, the second disc is good but I like the first better. Anyway..one issue..why were GC and SP on the Warped Tour? They are not punk at all. Anyway, great cd..!) YEARS!! ... Read more

MTV's 'Music In High Places' brings musicians to the mostancient and intriguing sites on earth, and captures theiracoustic performances and in-depth interviews during thejourney. 4-0 out of 5 stars say you'll be here for the rest of my life
i hope they stick around! unwritten law is an awesome band and i am totally in love with the songs "seein' red" and "rest of my life". these songs are just great, and i also think it's really cool that they recorded this cd from a national park. it gives it a more intimate feeling. buy 'from music in high places'!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Music in High Places, a very rad album
I snuck out with a friend to purchase this album, we drove to a neighbor town bout 15 minutes away to get it, it was not a dissapointment, the CD sounds so rad up in Mt. Rushmore the quality and sound and everything are so amazing, and its live!, my only complaint is on seein' red, although Both the one on Music in High places and the track on Elva are very good, Elva's is Better, Props to Up all night and Geronimo, those sound so great on that Music in High Places, i encourage everyone to Buy this CD and All of Unwritten Law's other CD's. Cheers

5-0 out of 5 stars Great listen
If you like Unwritten Law you will love this. It almost has a very innocent sound to it. It also has an old treasure for old UL fans in the last track. Good Stuff!

5-0 out of 5 stars such a treasure
I stumbled upon this particular album by accident, and I am so thankful I did. Immediately, you are struck by the sheer talent of this band from the first notes. Fresh, exciting, and completely fierce,Unwritten Law delivers acoustic renditions of their punk/rock songs. It's a wonder why they are not one of the biggest bands around. Their lyrics are honest and forceful, their music is intricate and extremely well-played.

Different styles integrate into an acoustic medley that make for an amazing listening experience. Personal favorites include the beautifully honest 'Rest of my Life' and the blues rock infused 'Blame it On Me'

Unwritten Law are unlike any other band out there. 'Music from High Places' is an album that fully embodies all elements of good music: raw talent, fresh sounds, seasoned skill.

It's what all albums should strive to be.

Enjoy!

For his DreamWorks debut, spoken-word artiste Henry Rollins turns the funny-dude charm way up on 13 jocular monologues. Recorded live at 1997 and 1998 gigs in Chicago and Australia, Think Tank presents a far lighter side than Rollins previously has recorded. He shows another side here, one different from the counterculture icon--the guy with so much pain, he had to tattoo it all over his body and scream it out through rad punk tunes as the human throat for Black Flag and the Rollins Band--and, surprisingly, the lighter Rollins isn't Rollins Lite. The 30-something performer has found his ultimate calling as a caring but angry über-punk who's on your side in the fight against evil. Channeling his rage into prosaic humor, Rollins details the really big problems of life (homophobia, lyrics to Journey songs, racism, vegetarians) and small everyday bummers (the cast of Friends, idiots everywhere, fax machines) alongside detailed postcards from the rock-star life. --Mike McGonigal ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A "Tank" to swim in for hours...
"Think Tank" showcases Henry Rollins at his Spoken Word best, IMHO. This record is so far my favorite of Hank's "Talking" records. The first disc is a collection of mostly short pieces from a birthday show in Chicago, while the second disc contains longer tour stories told in Australia.

Think Tank is great because it takes all the elements of Rollins's storytelling that have shown up individually in his previous records and BAM! Suddenly they all come together, and the result is funny, vicious, cynical, compelling and thought-provoking all at the same time. "El Nino" is a hilarious look at the much-ballyhooed weather pattern that trashed California in 1996-97, while "Airport Hell" rehashes the negative aspects of living life on the road.

My favorite tracks on this Album are the final 5, however. "Nothin Can Go Wrong" is enormously funny, chronicling some of Rollins' more embarassing moments onstage. "Russia" recounts one of the Rollins Band's memorable trips, and "Marius" is the touching (yet not saccharin by any means) tale of a lad with leukemia who Henry got to meet in Australia.

Over and over, these tracks amaze and amuse. I have listened to this record more times than I can count, and I still crack up every time. This is a great record, and I suggest you pick it up. If you're not a Rollins fan yet, you will be after getting this record.

Also check out the companion (sort of) video, "You Saw Me Up There". Not quite as tight as the CD, but it contains one EPIC story about Hank, a single engine plane, and a guy in a cover band.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Rollins spoken word record which is long overdue.
To those unfamiliar with Henry Rollins' spoken word records, this CD is a very nice introduction to his work. To those who are, this Rollins at his absolute finest. From second one, Hank brings you through his adventures at the airport (continued), television, Bill Clinton, etc. The first CD is a very rapid fire comedic routine, as the second CD is more involved with telling long storylines and being just as funny if not funnier. Henry has mastered his storytelling ability to the point where its effortless, and this is readily evident in these 2 hours. Everyone can relate to at least one of his stories, as he speaks from a perspective of everyday life. This CD set will become a constant companion to you on a lonely night for years to come. If you enjoy this, I highly recommend Human Butt, Live at McCabe's, and the Boxed Life for even more great rides from the life of Henry Rollins.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why would you buy this here?
Dude, if you want to buy a Rollins CD, go to his website and buy it direct. Why pay $16 for a $10 CD, just to pay for corporate overhead. Henry would not approve!
Oh yeah, screw Ticketmaster too!

4-0 out of 5 stars Henry's Other Job...
When not fronting Rollins Band or hosting the carnage on TLC's "Full Metal Challenge", Henry tours the globe with his comic act. By this point, the material is professional and polished - until you get to "Marius". This story, of a fan who taught Henry a major life lesson, is the best and most honest bit on the cd.

While I truly prefer Henry's earlier work - the less well-honed sets - this is a very good cd. However, if you really want the Rollins experience, a ticket to his show is required.

5-0 out of 5 stars Workingmans Hero
After listening to different spoken word artists I would have to say Henry is at the top of the list. Henry is a very intense, funny guy. He has the ability to take what he sees, process it in his brain and then regurgitate it to the audience in a very straightforward humorous way. There is no b.s. with this guy he says it like it is. He's very on the level, never alienates with any kind of "I'm a star" attitude. In fact he went out of the way to play in Chicago as a thank you to his fans. Henry lets his fans know they are appreciated and are the main reason he gets to make a living doing what he does.

Rollins talks alot about society and about how he views peoples interactions with him and each other. Of notable instances, "The Gay Thing" and "Television" will keep you laughing all the way through. The gay thing makes you laugh as well as teach you about being more open minded. After hearing television you might have urges to throw away your tv. Henry's humor isn't over the top, or full of slapstick punchlines. He is very good at observation comedy(add a dash of sarcasm) kind of like a Steven Wright.

Overall this album is a hit; there are some serious moments "Marius" for example is about a fan who is terminally ill. Even an occasional miss such as "El Nino" where Rollins humor just misses the mark. Still even with its little flaws this is a very solid piece of work. Remember this is done by a man who isn't a professional comedian or a trained orator, instead you have a regular Joe off the street doing something people only dream of. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the wagon still rockin & rollin along at breakneck speed
Well i never--after thinking the Caper couldnt top the live experience created on the Gimme Gimmes awesome Barmitzvah bash, he gets hold of that microphone again and proves otherwise !.With the incomparable back catalogue at their disposal, Big Joe , Big Bitch and the boys just roll out the classics one after another (and still find time for a little drop of reggae inbetween AND a great singing cameo by Leon on "Coconut" as well). The Hollywood crowd are treated to timeless punk chestnuts such as Violins, After You My Friend, Razorburn, May 16th, Bombs Away and Stokin' The Neighbours--the list goes on. The Wagon play with such great energy, and the love every minute of it just as much as the crowd, and leading them throughout the extravaganza is the finest frontman in the rock n roll cosmos--Joey Cape. The man is a true colossus, a true demi-god (pocket sized version obviously !)--a man who can do everything (sing ,strum that guitar, bang the drums and in his spare time produce and promote bands AND run his own record label. He is quite simply the greatest (forget Elvis and other such impostors), the Caper is the man. I cannot wait for the next studio album from the Wagon (building further on Blaze, which was a belter and well worth the wait), and also cannot wait for the next tour of England (as i for one will be right at the front paying homage to the greatest band in the universe).

4-0 out of 5 stars Best live in a dive yet!
I already own the previous six Live in a Dive records and would have to say that this one is the best!

The guitar playing is great, drumming is amazing, Joey Cape's voice is legendary and the comic in the booklet is funny too.

5-0 out of 5 stars TIGHT CD G
I just got this album and I've been listening to it non stop. This is the way the ramones were meant to be experienced, Loud, fast, and live!

Every song on here is an undesputed Ramones classic, only played even faster than the album version. The one song on here that sounds most similar to the studio version is 'Mamma's Boy' and suprisingly 'Wart Hog', even though the latter is sung by new bassist CJ, he sounds very close to the original.

Joey's commentary in-between the songs is great! "We believe in freedom, and we believe in human rights! I WANNA LIVE!!!"

Although 'It's Alive' sounds more raw and alike the studio versions, 'Loco Live' has a much better set list (the Ramones had 10 albums to go through now, not 3), and thier new tracks are just as fun as the classics.

This is also the first album without Dee Dee. CJ does an excellent job and his vocals on 'Warthog' sound suprisingly close to the original.

Everyone needs to buy this album, put it in the sterio and turn it up to ten and bop till you drop! ;-)

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ramones' best live album!
I have personally enjoyed this Ramones live album the most out of any of them. I have all of the basic live albums (It's Alive, Greatest Hits Live, We're outta here) and this one is my favorite. People say the Ramones put no heart into this performance? Yeah right! I would be willing to bet that a group of the best musically inclined 20 year olds couldn't perform these songs half as well, and these guys were like 40 during this concert! It's live, loud, fast and fun. And above all, Joey's vocals are great too.. so.. it doesn't sound alot like the studio cuts.. but who cares! The Ramones were a live band, and this album shows the band for what it was, a live, fast punk band. This music wasn't meant to be perfect, it was meant to be fun.. and the Ramones have more than accomplished that here. Adios.

3-0 out of 5 stars American Punk Dreams
Picking "Loco Live" after at least two years in which I haven't heard it, I was impressed with the extent to which it still holds as a powerful Rock record. I've been listening to more sophisticated music these few years - blues, funk, experimental rock and some jazz. Yet I'm still attracted to the fast-and-loud, hard edge of rock music. I guess I'm a punk in my soul, and that, in order to enjoy the Ramones, you have to be one, too.

But I've also noticed things that I have never heard before - the transformation of the Ramones's musical style, and the way in which the Ramones was such an American band.

The cliché about the Ramones is how simple their music has always been - "no one can play three chords better" than the Ramones, and so on. But Loco Live finds the Ramones far away from the distorted bubble gum pop band that amazingly failed to conquer the world between 1977 and 1981. By the mid 1980s, the Ramones have evolved into a bona fide hard rock act, heavier and faster then anything they've done in the 1970s.

Listening to "I believe in Miracles" it is hard to believe I've never noticed it before. The song is downright blues-y. There is nothing of the bubble gum in "Love Kills" or "Mama's boy", and "Pet Semetary", the title song to the Stephen King movie, has riffs and mood that are as much hard rock cliché as the lyrics (don't let this sound like I don't like the song - it's fantastic). The early songs are sped up and toughened up, and are transformed into something like acid pop. Among the later tunes, the only one that resembles the innocence of the earlier days is "Palisades Park" an old fifties standard. Hell, they even open up the set with a play back of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly..."

I can't help thinking that this change has something to do with the changes in the United States in the 1980s. It seems that the Ramones have grown along with the mysterious zeitgeist, and the music, I believe, reflect where the US cultural scene, or at least some of it, was in the Reagan years. Certainly, the lyrics reflect that - "Bonzo goes to Bitberg (a.k.a "My head is hanging upside down") is about a controversial visit of Ronald Reagan's to a Nazi cemetery, and "Ignorance is Bliss" is an undoubtedly political tune. Joey prefaces "I wanna live" with something of a manifesto: "We believe in freedom... we believe in human rights".

Both musically and lyrically, the Ramones were a more sophisticated band than many critics give them credit for. And while "Loco Live" does not quite catch them in their prime, it is a fantastic live gig of a great hard rock/punk band. "Do you remember Rock'n'roll Radio?" If not, the Ramones will remind you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pure Ramones
The true essence of punk music is only captured live. And Ramones are the best band to represent the genre. This album is pure punk rock at one of the best moments of The Ramones' career. It's an essential album, I highly recommend it.

simply put, this is the best rock 'n' roll band ever existed.that everybody knows this band..gabba gabba hey!!~~....if u wanna get up and dance to the fast and the most fun music u can possibly think of.(even when u are soooo depressed).get this album its cheap and frggin more than great album......it has all the great classic ramones songs...and its fast and no-hold barreled Jonnys guitar and with CJs grooves on top of the Marrkys unstoppable beats goin on thruout the whole album...once u listen,,, i bet u cant stop listening.....i think no one , even todays, dont't really have the substance that Ramones had back in their days.....

5-0 out of 5 stars # 1 live punk-pop album ever
Since being introduced to the Descendents by a friend's older brother in 8 Th grade, I have worn out the tape on my cassette. Whether you want true punk speed or silly girl love songs, this album will deliver it. "I'm not a loser" is a classic anthem for all of us who have felt ostracized by anyone. "my van" will make everyone think of that special place where we can let our hair down and be ourselves(however your do that, I don't want to know!). This is truly one of any true music fan's necessities!

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect goofy pop punk band
This CD rocks! I first heard these songs back in about 1987 in some skateboard videos when I was 13 or so. I can't believe punk and hardcore is "cute," "trendy," and "mainstream" nowadays. I guess its fitting of the times that I would see this band's cd in a major national music outlet today and not hardly be able to buy it anywhere 15 years ago.

All of the songs on this live compilation are excellent. It isn't really much of a stretch for them to play a spontaneous live gig and record for an album. The performance is about equal. All of the songs have a goofy adolescent element that is refreshing. My favorites are "Silly Girl," "Coolidge," and "I don't want to grow up."

I guess I should be seeing an arena rock tour in the near future with long defunct bands like the Descendents, the Deadmilkmen, Butthole Surfers, and Seven Seconds. All of the high school jocks from the surrounding areas could show up and make a scene.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best live records ever!
No records had resume enough good the energy of a band live on stage! The Descendents were probably the best punk-rock band to see live! This live CD contain all of their hits with all their live energy, well, that's awesome!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE TEMPLATE LIVE PUNK CONCERT: Descendants 'Liveage'
Anyone who has ever had the opportunity to see their favorite band(s) perform at the historic First Ave. in Minneapolis, Minnesota probably has a good story to tell about the experience. The Descendants performance could easily be included.
Bashing out tunes like 'Silly Girl' and 'I'm Not A Loser' stand as a form of template for up-and-coming aggressive punk go-getters with pubic hair counts in the single digits.
BOTTOM LINE: GREAT PUNK SHOW. A MUST HAVE.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE Live Band
I'm not usually fond of any live albums. The Descendents, with their energetic on-stage performances, tweak their songs just enough to differ from their studios recordings. Not enough tweakage to ruin an excellent song though. This album, as well as Hallraker, define the Descendents as an excellent band who truely love performing. I hope they eventually put out a Live Video. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars More Sunny Day is always a great thing
I have to agree with Jeremy, the this album is far from perfect, which is surprising considering the brilliance of their live show. I attribut most of the shortcomings to the production, especialy the mixing. Aside from that there are some beautiful moments. J'Nuh is wholly terrific. For true fans, I'd say this album is a must have, but for first time buyers, I suggest buying an earlier recording. It's great to hear more from this powerful band.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic songs in a slightly different light...
This live recording of Sunny Day Real Estate really blew me away the first time I heard it. The first thing I noticed was the newer material has just as much sonic power and emotional punch as it does on the studio album. "Pillars", one of my favorite SDRE tracks, comes across just as, if not more, potently live as it does on the record, even without the benefit of studio spit and polish. Another highlight of this record is "In Circles". The live recording of this song is absolutely amazing in that it (the mix) has so much more body and power than the original studio recording. The louds come across as being more loud and the softs are just that much softer! Great album. It is a must for any SDRE fan. I understand that there is a corresponding live video coming out as well. You can cound me in for one of those as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars SDRE Live CD
This cd is great. I never heard of SDRE before I heard it from a friend THIS album from a friend and it sounded pretty good. Picked up a copy, and it's amazing.

4-0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars. A great live experience.
This is a much better cd than many people realize. I'm not sure what problems some people have with it-I realize the mix is good in some areas and a bit 'off' in others-but it still sounds great and I think many of these songs find their definitive versions on this disc. This is the first cd by SDRE I heard and I've since purchased all their other albums. The "Pink" lp is my favorite but this cd and "Diary" are close behind. Should not be missed. Worth the price of admission just for "Song About an Angel" and "Guitars & Video Games", both of which are better than the album versions.

Recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING CD IF YOU'RE A DIEHARD SDRE FAN!
I had first heard that they even had a LIVE SDRE cd on a college radio station. I had called to request "IN CIRCLES" & they only had the live version. Immediately after hearing it on the radio; I went to Amazon.com to find it & purchased it.
That song live is definitely amazing. Jeremy Enigks voice is soo passionate.
All the other songs on the cd are from various cd's (past & present)Live versions are sometimes worse than cd recordings. BUt, this live version rocks! ... Read more

Finally, an over-the-top live album intended to satisfy all of you MxPx fans out there. After ultra-high-energy studio affairs like Life in General and Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo, At the Show is chock full of live versions of MxPx classics such as "I'm OK, You're OK," "Chick Magnet," and "The Downfall of Western Civilization." Produced by the Descendents' Bill Stevenson, this Washington-based trio blaze through 23 (count 'em) uptempo anthems that, while still derivative of faux Brit punks like Green Day, never fail to deliver the punk-rock goods. With a moderately rousing and extremely accurate version of the Ramones's "KKK," MxPx show that they've certainly done their punk homework, but you have to be a dedicated follower to find this collection absolutely essential. --Mitch Meyers ... 5-0 out of 5 stars this might as well be a greatest hits album
I am impressed. The entire CD is listenable, MXPX is great live, Mike is amazing. With a lot of their songs off of TEENAGE POLITICS and SLOWLY GOING THE WAY OF THE BUFFALO this is a very punky CD. A lot more punk than their newer THE EVER PASSING MOMENT, which came afterwards. Twenty three tracks... that says it's a punk album right there. I love their cover of the Ramones' "KKK Took My Baby Away." Fast and great for MXPX. And the CD overall: amazing, packed with fast paced punky songs. Opens up with a fast punky song, ends with, (of course they had to get this one in there), "Punk Rawk Show." The crowd doesn't take away from the band. This right here might as well be twenty three tracks of MXPX's greatest songs.

4-0 out of 5 stars MxPx Compilations Rock
I don't have any of MxPx's CDs with new music, but I have both compilations( At the Show and Ten Years and Running). They are both awesome. This CD starts as it ends:with one of their most popular songs(start-Tomorrow's Another Day,end-Punk Rawk Show). It follows with two fast-paced songs which I consider as some of the best on the CD. There are, however, three things which detract from this CD. First, if you have their other CDs, the only new song will be the cover of the Ramones' KKK Took My Baby Away(where they improved on the original).Second:Chick Magnet.Everyone I talk to that listens to MxPx seems to love that song(probably why it is on the CD), but I don't know why it is so popular.Third, there is a stretch in the middle with about three straight shouting songs.I really don't care for shouting songs and don't think MxPx does them very well. Despite the negatives, the 18 or 19 quality tracks make this CD a very good buy, especially if you don't own their other CDs. This is very good work from one of the few Christian punk bands out there(and the best Christian band out there)and one of the better punk bands out there, Christian or secular.
Here are what I consider as the best songs on the CD:
5.Sometimes You Have to Ask Yourself
4.KKK Took My Baby Away
3.Under Lock and Key
2.Andrea

INVITATION TO UNDERSTANDING

5-0 out of 5 stars Good live CD!!!
Of course nothing beats actually seeing them live, but the recording is decent. It doesn't really capture their power though. You see MXPX does their best with their older stuff, and if it were up to me they'd make one that would top Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo or Pokinatcha, but sadly they decided to go and produce boring pop-punk stuff, but this CD will remind you of what they use to be. A definate must buy!!!

Well i am a punk rock fan. so in that respect i have yet to be disappointed with this cd. however, i could have sworn that i bought this cd in the "Christian" rock section. much to my dismay it mentions the word God only ONCE on the entire album. to that extent i have been severly disappointed in this cd. after all i purchased it on the grounds that i would be listening to a Christian punk rock band. beyond that i truly enjoy the gritty sound of this cd. furthermore it offers clean listening that i can listen to with other Christians without offending them.(something that would be highly impossible with the per se, the clash, Ramones, or SP) i would recommend that you not buy this cd unless you are already a punk rock fan. if you happen to be new to the genre i would recommend that you steer clear.

5-0 out of 5 stars MXPX rocks live!!!!
For all of you seasoned mxpx fans out there, this CD is what you are looking for! It has some of the best mxpx tracks around, and it's all of there faster songs. Mike Hererra (lead singer) mixes perfect bass riffs with and incredible song writing talent. Some bands trade speed for lyrical qaulity. For mxpx, however, that is not the case. Another treat for you true punk fans is the cover of the ramones "KKK took my baby away" which suits the band well and I prefer this version to the original! It has all of there greatest songs : Party, My House, Be there, I'm OK you're OK, and middlname! If you are looking to get in on mxpx, this cd is a perfect representation of what mxpx is all about, and for you seasoned listeners of mxpx, this is a blessing to your collection. 4-0 out of 5 stars All for the love of rock'n'roll
Although none of the best-known NY bands are heard here (oh, the record contracts flying around CBGB's in 1976 ...) cult favorites like Tuff Darts (Robert Gordon), Mink DeVille, and the Shirts sound like they're having a great time. This collection, recorded over three nights in July, 1976, shows the New York rock scene going in all different directions. It's surprising how "radio-friendly" most of this music seems now. In the days of multi-platinum Peter Frampton and Fleetwood Mac, though, Manster's sped-up cover of the Yardbirds' "Over Under Sideways Down" was absolutely radical. Imagine that. And though it's true there's no real missed opportunities here, its a terrific snapshot of a time, a place, and an energy that's likely not to happen again.

3-0 out of 5 stars A typical evening of music at CBGBs
Actually, Dale, some of the performers did go further than this album. Mink DeVille may never have become a household name, but the band and its leader, Willy DeVille, released a slew of terrific albums. DeVille still records a new album every couple of years with exceptional quality stuff on every outing. Tuff Darts had a pretty decent first release that got loads of airplay in NYC, but the band's lead singer on Live at CBGBs was none other than Robert Gordon who spawned the rebirth of 50s rock and roll revival bands like the Stray Cats, the second coming of Link Wray, and many others. Gordon released several very strong albums and was a real critical favorite at the time. The quality of recording here is fair at best, but the youthful energy pours out of every song. This is a document of late 70s NYC New Wave which, at its best, was every bit as good as the British counterparts of Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, et al. Would've been nice to get a couple of other CBGB bands who did make it bigger on this disk --Blondie, Ramones to name a couple. Work the money, though.

3-0 out of 5 stars Close, but could be better
This CD is an attempt at the collection of the CBGB's scene of the late 70's emerging punk/new wave music. Unfortunately, none of the bands represented made it beyond this album. You get great hits like "We Deliver" and "Slash", but overall the musicianship leaves something to be desired, though the emotion is there. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outta Sight!
If you're reading this review, then chances are you are already familiar with the music of Robin Trower. If you aren't, and you happen to enjoy Electric-Psychedelic-Acidrock-Blues, then rush out to any record store and score yourself a copy of Bridge of Sighs. If you like it, then you'll absolutely dig this previously unreleased 1977 gem from the vaults of The King Biscuit Flower Hour (it was never aired on the radio).

5-0 out of 5 stars An undiluted blues/rock concert experience
James Dewar lets Rustee Allen play the bass and concentrates on the vocals, a perfect tradeoff. The band is having a great day and plays many of the greatest Robin Trower songs. All in all it's like being there with the band, esp since the whole concert is there without breaks and with many of the songs in extended versions. Nice surprises includes a very bluesy version of "Too Rolling Stoned" where the band deviates quite a bit from the studio version as well as a version of "Daydream" in a really slow tempo that allows one to hear all the nitty-gritty licks that Robin Trower plays in this tune. The album also includes possibly the best version of "Bridge Of Sighs" that Robin Trower has ever recorded. All in all this album is a true undiluted blues/rock concert experience with real musicians playing real instruments in front of a captivated audience. Even if you have all the studio versions of the songs you'll need this album to experience! the live Robin Trower sound. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars buy insomniac
this cd has all of the same songs as in insomniac but insomniac has alot more tracks the only song on here thats not on insomniac is knowledge. (check out the new superhits album before you buy it, i have most of the songs on it and i only have five greenday cds) a four because of the lack tracks and because it has the same songs. but its greenday so its got to be great

5-0 out of 5 stars Green Day kicks even more @$$ live!
"Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking Parking" is Green Day's first live EP, and they sound even better playing live than they do on their regular albums. Their punk attitude shows through more when they play live than on any other album, even "Dookie." The tracks are few here, only 7 songs, but it is still an incredible record. Personally, I think "Brain Stew" is the best track on this album, but every song is great. I highly suggest this to any Green Day fan. Don't let the high price drive you away, it is well worth the money!

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME GREEN DAY CD
Despite the shortage of tracks, this CD has the live versions of most of Green Day's best songs- which sound BETTER than the Album versions. I think that Brain Stew is the best song on this CD. A must-buy for Green Day fans!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREEN DAY RULES!
I Bought this CD because I Wanted to own all the green day CD's. The only bad thing about this live cd is there is only seven songs! Where are the rest! [Only] 7 songs? Its worth it if you like green day as much as i do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Live Green Day Is Good Green Day
'Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking Parking' is the first of the two live Green Day records released officially by Reprise Records, and the only thing it lacks is length. There are only 7 songs blasted out quickly by the punk-rock kings, but a worthwhile purchase nonetheless. 'Knowledge', the fourth song on the record, is especially good and a fun song to listen to live. With the live experience of Green Day in their existence, this album is certainly very good, and easier to get too than the large amount of Green Day bootleg cds there are. Teamed up with the second official live recording, 'Foot In Mouth', 'Bowling... Parking...' results in a very enjoyable record that gives you the brilliant experience of Green Day LIVE! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It's just that great!
This is my favorite CD in the world. When I say that NOFX is the greatest punk band, it is not just MY opinion. An overwhelming amount of people know that NOFX are just plain the greatest at writing exciting punk music that doesn't get old as they evolve through the years. This live CD has to be bought by YOU! I'm not writing this review for my health. I'm doing it to help YOU make a good CD buying decision. NOFX chose some great songs to put on this. If you are skeptical about buying this because it's live, forget that. The fact that it's live makes it all the better. The recording is great; the best recording on a live CD I've ever heard. All the songs are performed better than on their original CD's and the guitars are really smooth. Hefe and Melvin work really well together and the drums are very clean. Fat Mike's voice is strong and Hefe's trumpet sounds great, especially on "Bob". I also enjoy how the band speaks with each other and interacts with the audience between songs, it makes you feel like you're actually experiencing it. In closing, if you are at least 35% sure that you want this CD, buy it. You will definetely not regret it one bit. I recommend it over all of their studio CD's. It's just that great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just About Jake. Yet, still worthy of 5 stars!
NOFX's spectacular performance in this live CD is worthy of buying. It's so good, that I would recomend buying a backup CD! Despite that, for a fact, they were drunk almost every song, It was still great! Imagine how it would have sounded if these talented and greatpunk-rock stars were sober throughout the whole album! Songs that are easy to fall in love with, like: Moron Bothers, Punk Guy and more, make the disc tolerable to listen to over and over again. NOFX has a great sound, yet this album, ("I heard they suck live!!"), has been compared to be better than a few of Less Than Jake's, (a ska/punk band), albums. In my opinion, they both are great and talented and have mostly a simular sound. Although, in my opinion, compared to Less Than Jake's 1996 release, "Losing streak", "I heard they suck live!!" is considerably better. -Derek Gaines, 14, Westport, CT(If you like this CD, I recomend checking out some of these bands: NOFX, MxPx, blink 182, Less Than Jake, No Motiv, All, Boxer, Frenzal Rhomb, Face To Face and the Vandals.)

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS CD RULES
no body take the mik out of nofx they r the best band 2 eva enter the earth they rule live i have seen them live 4 times i like em that much everythin is in tune they sing it all rite the talking 2 the crowd and brings it all together they even have mistakes in it nuffin has bin cut out i love the cd its probally there best album apart from war on erroism i love these guys keep goin :P

1-0 out of 5 stars GUESS WHAT... THEY WERE RIGHT!
NOFX really do suck live. On CD, at least. Like most "live" albums, this one does not bring out the band's good side. They sound terrible and the cheering and screaming takes away from the music. If you're interested in hearing them live - go see a live show instead!

5-0 out of 5 stars a great live cd!

Who doesn't love a party? And one thrown by Beantown's ska-bitten sons the Mighty Mighty Bosstones can't be that bad, right? Named for the nightclub that hosts the Bosstones' annual gift to their home crowd, Live finds the frat-boy faves doing exactly what they do best. Frontman Dickie Barrett grunts, bellows, and stomps his way through the walloping, horn-punched skank, his mates swinging merrily along behind him. And if there were ever any doubt, Live makes abundantly clear that Barrett's sure no singer. But the roaring, high-fivin' crowd doesn't seem to mind. After all, you don't go to a Bosstones show expecting to find Pavarotti at the mic. So, as a representative sample of the Mighty live experience, this album is what it is. But if dimension, fidelity, and artistry are more your bag, Live pretty much bites. --Sue VanHecke ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Captures the Essence of the Bosstones Live
Recorded during the Bosstones annual hometown throwdown shows right after their breakthrough album Let's Face It, Live from the Middle East actually does a good job capturing the essence of the Bosstones live. It features classic songs as well as a ton of songs off of Let's Face It, all in all it's a massive 22 song collection and every song sounds great. The set opens with 1-2-8 off of Let's Face It, it then goes into the classics Do Somethin Crazy, He's Back and one of my favorite Bosstones songs Devil's Night Out. With this live album they also breathe new life into songs such as Dr.D, Howwhywuz Howwhyam, Cowboy Coffee, and Where'd You Go. All of which are highlights of the album. Songs such as Kinder Words, Hope I Never Lose My Wallet, and Hell of a Hat also sound just as good live maybe even better than their studio recordings. Other songs from Let's Face It include the title track, Rascal King, Noise Brigade, Royal Oil, and their hit single, The Impression that I Get. The band sounds very tight on the live album, as any band would after touring for months at a time. Honestly the one low point of the album is the song Royal Oil, I'm just not a fan of that song, I actually think it's one of the worst song's they've ever recorded. The album ends on a great note also with The Impression that I Get, the classic Someday I Suppose (also featured in the movie Clueless), and the short Lights Out, which features the band members going back and forth singing to each other, definately a highlight of the live album. Live from the Middle East is definately worth the money, of course nothing will ever capture the essence of the Bosstones live but this cd comes extremely close, you should definately check them out if you get the chance to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mighty mighty good.
Like the Grateful Dead, the Bosstones are better live than recorded. This is essentially a live greatest hits album. It has all the songs of theirs that I could name, good sound, and an amazing 22 tracks. It's the only Bosstones disc I need, especially with "Where'd you go", "Someday I suppose", and half of the "Let's face it" album. Who needs that anymore. If you enjoy that "live" energy, and listen to bands like Fishbone and The Reverend Horton Heat, you'll love this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Live Compilation
This live CD by the Bosstones is also a nice pre-Pay Attention "greatest hits" collection. Songs are taken from everything from Devil's Night Out to More Noise... to Don't Know How To Party. Many selections also come from Let's Face It. The recording quality is not as bad as some may say. All the songs do credit to the studio versions, with that touch that can only be felt live. The only song that just plain stinks is "The Impression That I Get" because it does nothing to capture the essence of the original masterpiece. Dicky's voice is in top-form, and he switches from growling to his deep tone very nicely. So there you have it. A live 22-track compilation of some of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones greatest. My only gripes are the bad quality of song 20 and all the unneeded language.

5-0 out of 5 stars I HAVE GOT TO SEE THESE GUYS IN CONCERT!
One of the greatest ska bands out there, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones would be awesome to see in concert. The guy's got an amazing voice and the lyrics are great. And contrary to many punk rock and ska bands, these guys can seriously play! The musicianship of The Bosstones is amazing.

A little bit to my disapointment, a ton of these songs were on "Let's Face It." Too many infact. But the CD is still worth it even if you have a couple of their CD's. On the recording the crowd isn't too loud and you can here the band fine.

But when they're not playing, and just talking to the audiance, the crowd is great. The concert was in Boston, and the guys there loved them. Before they played one song they asked the crowd if they wanted it the new way or the old way. First he says "new way" and everyone screams. When he says "shh" everyone is really quiet. It's great, they listen to him like crazy.

I have to see these guys in concert. An amazing CD from one of the most amazing ska bands out there, if not the most amazing. I was hightly impressed with CD.

Enjoy ska.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Times
Yes, its true, live recordings have pretty bad recording quality. Yeah, its also true the lead singer cant sing. On the other hand, it's true that you cant help but love this cd no matter what its faults. Its pretty hard not to listen to this cd and not tap your toe, let alone stand up and dance. I cant explain WHY this cd is great, just know that it IS. ... Read more
