"Untitled" is the ultimate break-up anthem from Blink. Oh wait ... no, "Dammit" is, but "Untitled" comes as a close second. Blink has a way of writing songs that people can relate to, with honest lyrics and damn depressing themes. Between songs, there are a lot of dirty jokes and funny dialogue (it's not tasteful, but who cares?). After "Man Overboard" the CD goes on and on for about an extra 40 minutes with talk. Good stuff. Best of all, it's like a portable Blink 182 concert. ... Read more

With that said, let's get down to this Greatest hits/live album deal. Just about everyone of their best songs are on here. Everything is fast paced and clear. It's awesome that the CD has the monolagues in between the songs to show what it is like at a Dropkick show. Here's my problem. If I wasn't a hardkore Dropkick Murphy's fan, I'd give this album 5 stars. But I am a huge fan and i love Mike, the original singer. Nobody can bring it like he did it. Mike is the singer for this band. Do or Die made this band. Mike has an awesome voice for what the band was trying to do. On Do or Die, they were a very political band ready to do big things. But, Al Barr just doesn't have it in him and when he sings the songs off of Do or Die, it shows. What really pisses me off is that it seems like he doesn't care about the old songs because they aren't his. During songs like Boys on the Docks, he lets the croud do more singing than he does. He ruined Finnigans wake by trying to make it super fast and aggressive instead of keeping it a folky Irish song. The songs from Sing Loud, Sing Proud were fine. I had no problems with them. Those are his songs so of course he's gonna sound better on them. But PLEASE RESPECT THE OLD STUFF. I LOVE THIS BAND AND I DON'T WANT TO WATCH IT FALL LIKE SO MANY BANDS OUT TODAY.

Amazon.com essential recording You've barely blinked before you realize that the first half-dozen songs have already raced past, their backdraft sucking the oxygen out of your lungs. "Rockaway Beach," "Teenage Lobotomy," "Blitzkrieg Bop," and "I Wanna Be Well" practically melt together in a three-chord melange, Tommy never letting up on the frantic beat and Joey pausing barely long enough to breathlessly shout, "Onetwothreefour!" before launching into the next set. The longest song here clocks in well short of three minutes, and many are hardly longer than one. Twenty-eight songs clock in under 48 minutes. Talk about a land-speed record. No subtleties of production or tweaking are needed here to capture the Ramones' live sound. Plug 'em in, turn everything up to 10, and let it rip. The sound of the manic crowd is practically organic. It's Alive is not just the best Ramones album, it is easily the best live punk-rock album of all time, and perhaps one of the best live albums ever set to wax. --Tod Nelson Reviews (40)
This is, by far, the best of The Ramones' several live albums. It catches them in London 1977, between the brilliant "Rocket To Russia" and "Road To Ruin" records and launching a sea of imitators in their wake. It also sees them still loud fast and rough, barely pausing for breath between the end of each song and the ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR! rapid-fire count of the next. It's twenty-eight songs in barely an hour, and you still wish there were more. How many records can you say that about? The band was still inexperienced enough to be ragged but right, and it shows if you do a couple comparisons between this and other Ramones' live discs. Compare the supersonic version of "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" here to the one on "Loco Live" and you'll realize that there was still a little time left before their early vitality would be sapped by too many years of middling success, grinding tours and rock life excesses. That's not to say that The Ramones were ever less than killers live; they were probably rock's best night out for the entire duration of their career.

Different styles integrate into an acoustic medley that make for an amazing listening experience. Personal favorites include the beautifully honest 'Rest of my Life' and the blues rock infused 'Blame it On Me' Unwritten Law are unlike any other band out there. 'Music from High Places' is an album that fully embodies all elements of good music: raw talent, fresh sounds, seasoned skill. It's what all albums should strive to be. Enjoy!

Think Tank is great because it takes all the elements of Rollins's storytelling that have shown up individually in his previous records and BAM! Suddenly they all come together, and the result is funny, vicious, cynical, compelling and thought-provoking all at the same time. "El Nino" is a hilarious look at the much-ballyhooed weather pattern that trashed California in 1996-97, while "Airport Hell" rehashes the negative aspects of living life on the road. My favorite tracks on this Album are the final 5, however. "Nothin Can Go Wrong" is enormously funny, chronicling some of Rollins' more embarassing moments onstage. "Russia" recounts one of the Rollins Band's memorable trips, and "Marius" is the touching (yet not saccharin by any means) tale of a lad with leukemia who Henry got to meet in Australia. Over and over, these tracks amaze and amuse. I have listened to this record more times than I can count, and I still crack up every time. This is a great record, and I suggest you pick it up. If you're not a Rollins fan yet, you will be after getting this record. Also check out the companion (sort of) video, "You Saw Me Up There". Not quite as tight as the CD, but it contains one EPIC story about Hank, a single engine plane, and a guy in a cover band.
While I truly prefer Henry's earlier work - the less well-honed sets - this is a very good cd. However, if you really want the Rollins experience, a ticket to his show is required.
Rollins talks alot about society and about how he views peoples interactions with him and each other. Of notable instances, "The Gay Thing" and "Television" will keep you laughing all the way through. The gay thing makes you laugh as well as teach you about being more open minded. After hearing television you might have urges to throw away your tv. Henry's humor isn't over the top, or full of slapstick punchlines. He is very good at observation comedy(add a dash of sarcasm) kind of like a Steven Wright. Overall this album is a hit; there are some serious moments "Marius" for example is about a fan who is terminally ill. Even an occasional miss such as "El Nino" where Rollins humor just misses the mark. Still even with its little flaws this is a very solid piece of work. Remember this is done by a man who isn't a professional comedian or a trained orator, instead you have a regular Joe off the street doing something people only dream of. ... Read more

Every song on here is an undesputed Ramones classic, only played even faster than the album version. The one song on here that sounds most similar to the studio version is 'Mamma's Boy' and suprisingly 'Wart Hog', even though the latter is sung by new bassist CJ, he sounds very close to the original. Joey's commentary in-between the songs is great! "We believe in freedom, and we believe in human rights! I WANNA LIVE!!!" Although 'It's Alive' sounds more raw and alike the studio versions, 'Loco Live' has a much better set list (the Ramones had 10 albums to go through now, not 3), and thier new tracks are just as fun as the classics. This is also the first album without Dee Dee. CJ does an excellent job and his vocals on 'Warthog' sound suprisingly close to the original. Everyone needs to buy this album, put it in the sterio and turn it up to ten and bop till you drop! ;-)
But I've also noticed things that I have never heard before - the transformation of the Ramones's musical style, and the way in which the Ramones was such an American band. The cliché about the Ramones is how simple their music has always been - "no one can play three chords better" than the Ramones, and so on. But Loco Live finds the Ramones far away from the distorted bubble gum pop band that amazingly failed to conquer the world between 1977 and 1981. By the mid 1980s, the Ramones have evolved into a bona fide hard rock act, heavier and faster then anything they've done in the 1970s. Listening to "I believe in Miracles" it is hard to believe I've never noticed it before. The song is downright blues-y. There is nothing of the bubble gum in "Love Kills" or "Mama's boy", and "Pet Semetary", the title song to the Stephen King movie, has riffs and mood that are as much hard rock cliché as the lyrics (don't let this sound like I don't like the song - it's fantastic). The early songs are sped up and toughened up, and are transformed into something like acid pop. Among the later tunes, the only one that resembles the innocence of the earlier days is "Palisades Park" an old fifties standard. Hell, they even open up the set with a play back of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly..." I can't help thinking that this change has something to do with the changes in the United States in the 1980s. It seems that the Ramones have grown along with the mysterious zeitgeist, and the music, I believe, reflect where the US cultural scene, or at least some of it, was in the Reagan years. Certainly, the lyrics reflect that - "Bonzo goes to Bitberg (a.k.a "My head is hanging upside down") is about a controversial visit of Ronald Reagan's to a Nazi cemetery, and "Ignorance is Bliss" is an undoubtedly political tune. Joey prefaces "I wanna live" with something of a manifesto: "We believe in freedom... we believe in human rights". Both musically and lyrically, the Ramones were a more sophisticated band than many critics give them credit for. And while "Loco Live" does not quite catch them in their prime, it is a fantastic live gig of a great hard rock/punk band. "Do you remember Rock'n'roll Radio?" If not, the Ramones will remind you.

All of the songs on this live compilation are excellent. It isn't really much of a stretch for them to play a spontaneous live gig and record for an album. The performance is about equal. All of the songs have a goofy adolescent element that is refreshing. My favorites are "Silly Girl," "Coolidge," and "I don't want to grow up." I guess I should be seeing an arena rock tour in the near future with long defunct bands like the Descendents, the Deadmilkmen, Butthole Surfers, and Seven Seconds. All of the high school jocks from the surrounding areas could show up and make a scene.

A little bit to my disapointment, a ton of these songs were on "Let's Face It." Too many infact. But the CD is still worth it even if you have a couple of their CD's. On the recording the crowd isn't too loud and you can here the band fine. But when they're not playing, and just talking to the audiance, the crowd is great. The concert was in Boston, and the guys there loved them. Before they played one song they asked the crowd if they wanted it the new way or the old way. First he says "new way" and everyone screams. When he says "shh" everyone is really quiet. It's great, they listen to him like crazy. I have to see these guys in concert. An amazing CD from one of the most amazing ska bands out there, if not the most amazing. I was hightly impressed with CD. Enjoy ska.
